i'm thinking about how kowareyasuki is. it's such an aggressive song, yet at the same time it's strangely comforting. there is this juxtaposition of aggressive instrumentals with lyrics about the fragility of emotion. like, to me it almost seems like the instrumental is trying it's hardest to break you while the vocals are there to keep you from totally falling apart. and the timbres of the two kinda match as well; the instrumental is this pointy almost heavy metal sound, which you'd expect to be coupled with equally harsh vocals, but instead you have vocals that are warm, vocals that make you feel safe from that harshness. and during the prechoruses, that warmth kinda takes over the instrumental as well. this juxtaposition of two completely different sounds is most obvious in the chorus, where the vocals kinda provide this wall against the instrumental which i guess kinda represents the elements, in both a physical and emotional sense. idk it's almost 5am im just rambling really.

hi I'm the main of @pretend-pretend-vampire tell me about the other love live songs you're relating to vampires please. please? please.

Happily! So with a lot of the Love Live music there is an underlying trend of romance being a theme, which works both for and against many of the songs I personally tend to lean towards when thinking about vampires and my vtm ocs in general. Of course feel free to take any of my interpretations differently, this is just my personal thoughts and I’ll drop a few songs that I relate more to vampires in general than just my ocs. Just a warning, the majority of these are gonna be Muse or Aqours and my thoughts are coming from a v20 lens. Adding a cut here because I have no idea how long I'm going to go on rambling.

No Exit Orion is a really strong contender. There’s the feelings of possessiveness you can feel from either a prospective sire or someone planning to ghoul a kine, especially with the question of if everything will disappear come morning. Big blood bond vibes out of this one as well, if you want to go that route with it.

So this one might be a bit of a strange choice and a bit more personal of an opinion, but Kowareyasuki to me gives real beast vibes. The way Guilty Kiss treats the audience as small and fragile and offers their own protection feels a lot like how a vampire’s beast attempts to manipulate or gain more and more control. Messages of them being fragile and small and whispers of letting the beast handle it, leading to frenzy when the vampire finally listens or gives in. There’s also a very possible manipulative elder/gullable fledgling vibe here as well. 

Realizing just how much Guilty Kiss is on here. Shadow Gate to Love is another one with strong romance vibes, but to me has really strong sabbat vibes. The trickery at play here, the promises of the offer only being open to the audience, the references to refusing light which while neither sect is “good”, there is something to be said about the overarching darkness of the sabbat especially with the influence of clan Lasombra.

I could go on forever, but I don’t wanna ramble. I’ll drop a few more with less explanation, if that’s okay. 

THE SECRET NiGHT and Shadow Effect both have Toreador vibes to me, I don’t know if it's because DiverDiva is such a strong duo or just my own brainworms at play. Cutie Panther is a decently obvious one, though the strong allusions to love in it might make or break the interpretation for you.

These are just the ones that come to mind most immediately that aren't catered more to my ocs or character ships, I left those off the list for the most part. There's more I could add if I really thought about it but this is already decently long.

Ruby of course listens to jpop the most. i think she tried to get into kpop (time period accurate ofc so 3rd gen ish iirc) but i think some of the industry differences + the general Sound Differences make her not very interested. I think also ruby would like izone (i never was into them so idk about canon time accuracy but imagine.)

and then dia loves jpop too obvs but i think she genuinely listens to a litlte bit of everything. i think mari's metal interest (youre so right btw about gk) bleeds into kanadia because once that throuple stops being toxic they are INNNNSEPARABLEEEEEEE..... but dia genuinely likes anything. shes into idol music, shes into more heavy stuff, shes into radio pop, shes into retro, while she doesnt love ANY SONG OF ANY GENRE, she can definitely get into SOME SONGS of any genre! i think dia really really enoys music as a hobby in general so she enjoys trying and finding new things. growing up being fixated on idol culture and music will to taht to you.....

SO OF COURSE MARI LISTENS TO METAL. i think though new winding road is a really interesting tell into her other interests. (...ignoring that her seiyuu is an insanely talented traditional singer (is that the right word. im sorry im high and blanking. please correct me ifthis is like... weird white person vague and i will fix im just soo high and cant think)

hanamaru listened to music but i think was not much of a "Music Consumer" until she was a little older so i think as a result she mostly listens to songs her friends listen to too... her and kanan both i think listen a lot to the actual style Of azalea songs. like edm or whatever. kanan is also a pop radio kinda girly. just whatever plays in her parents shop while shes working etc

I will admit i have not been a friend of riko until recently starting to like her a little more.... so my answer is very basic with metal and like piano instrumental/ballads/cute poppy love songs

As I am recalling the subunit songs from each group, I had to take notes of any changes to my opinions. So far:

As I mentioned before, Printemps is starting to grow a bit on me; decent at best but nowhere close to the other two.

Onaji Hoshi ga Mitai is tied with A-NO-NE-GA-N-BA-RE as my favorite lily white song. The city pop vibe is strong and very underrated in my opinion.

Hot take: When Guilty Kiss came out with New Romantic Sailors, I was highly turned off. Phantom Rocket Adventure is the only good track (arrangement had the nerve to bring back a time when BiBi reigned) while the other two just feels underwhelming. (Hence why AZALEA ended up winning my heart with Maze Sekai and sided as an AZALEA fan).

Hot take #2: Shooting Star Warrior ended up being the redemption arc for Guilty Kiss to me, except AZALEA still pulled off a badass sequel album in We'll Get the Next Dream.

On the other side, you have Deep Sea Cocoon, which is a beautifully crafted follow-up to a song like Kowareyasuki. The arrangement works so well with the vocals that I can't get it out of my head.

Sotsugyou desu ne- still the strongest of the three graduation songs

Verdict: It's on my face: I AM DEFINITELY ADDICTED TO LOVE LIVE EDM THAT SOMEHOW PROVOKES NOSTALGIA OF MID-LATE 00s.

so I'm not rly following it rn but I'd like to again bc honestly a lot of the songs are just fucking bangers. y favorite muse girl is nico followed by umi & maki, my favorite aquors girl is either hanamaru or yoshiko, I'm not super familiar w/the other generations but I liked kasumi and robot face girl (rika?? Idr). nico is my all time favorite tho I still have a couple figs of her I always loved her fake ass personality & gremlin energy.

my ten fave songs oh man that's hard to narrow down...cutie panther, self control, strawberry trapper, pirates desire, guilty eyes fever, daring!!, awaken the power, arifuta no kanashimi (is that the romanization?? Just guessing lol), kowareyasuki, shocking party, psychic fire. there's so many honorable mentions though this is such a tragically short list but I have to stop at 10, alas!

idk about a subunit ranking but guilty kiss & bibi are so good. also saint snow although they aren't exactly a subgroup lol.

I did watch the anime but I was much more of a SIF person, I was obsessed w/that game I spent real money on it (stupidly) & got like scary good, I could full combo soldier game at the highest level in my sleep (until they added the masters level or whatever bc that one was literally impossible), I was very fast! I have fond memories of myself crouched in lines for panels playing that game at anime cons.
