Finally! I can share the news about this super cool project that's been on the backburner forever!

As you may be able to tell, me (along with my good friends @your-worst-knightmare, @quillium, @kuppatan, @cerucleandaimond, @enchantingruinscandy, @apriljoy97, @darlinglissa and @theogygiaisland) have been working hard to make a podfic just for you, and the first 10 chapters are almost ready for listening!

My piece for an art exchange with @kuppatan of their OC Imtiyaz!

I don’t know much about their OC’s backstory, but he has a star motif and I LOVE astronomy, so I thought it would be fun if he was swallowing two stardrops from the star Sirius to symbolize his twin tails.

I had a blast working on this! This piece was my first time using shading and lighting, so I’ve provided a version with shading and one without.

enemy-to-friends/enemy redemption fic

:D Thank you for showing such faith in my powers of growth and personal betterment! 😉❤

...makes me want to actually write one of those now, properly. I guess technically All the Roofs of Uncertainty was kinda that, considering Jason had earned his supervillain chops? But also no.

That kind of story is so tricky. The dynamic of having a friendship with someone who used to be your enemy is so neat though. It’s got so many layers, and this special flavor of respect.

I love when it’s like, a deeply developed personal journey, but the funniest is when the bad guy never exactly stopped being bad, he just stopped having the opportunity to do much harm and meanwhile you have to work together to defeat Long-Term Bigger Problem.

And ideally by the time that’s handled your original reason for being enemies will have resolved itself--ideally via the power of friendship i.e. the Bad Guy doesn’t want whatever he was going for before enough to break up the current situation--but in the meantime there’s that little undercurrent of concern, about what’s going to happen once this is over.

And then of course it’s so sad if in the end that didn’t work. :[ And so creepy if a story tries to make it work with a Bad Guy whose actions caused extreme personal harm to someone in the party, and rather than addressing that just forces them into proximity, and either ignores the issue or compels the wronged party to forgive this person who hurt them, and isn’t even sorry. I hate that.

But I love when it’s done well and I should try it myself already! Since it’s so me and all. 😄

Playmaker - Do you like Yuusaku as the main protagonist, or do you think he’s too stoic/different from the friendship loving predecessors?

love Yuusaku as the main protagonist! tbh, i really like what each protagonist brings to the table, and so i really appreciate a calmer protagonist who isn’t out to make friends with everyone. Yuusaku cares about others, and at the end of the day i’d say he’s still spouting some of YGO’s Friendship Speeches, but he’s much more about ensuring a world where everyone can co-exist together than a place where everyone has to “be friends” and i think that’s a pretty good message to share with young children ^^ not everyone will be your friend, but you need to do your part to make the world a happy place for everyone

Boy - Favorite male character

i really love Yuusaku - his smile gives me so much life, and i like his calmer disposition! at the same time, he can become quite passionate during a duel and he’s not afraid to fight for what he believes in. all around, i really love his character (and his design too!)

Girl - Favorite female character

Ema! her voice, her character design, her deck - all of it vibes well with me! i’m a little sad she’s never won a duel, but that’s not enough for me to really dislike her character. i’m quite happy with her role in the series, just give her a win please! :3

Relationship - Favorite relationship, platonic or romantic (specify)

i’ve got two asks in my box for this one, so i’ll just say platonic and go with Ryouken/Spectre - i can see it romantically, but i really prefer it as a platonic ship. as the ship name states, i love the respect between them: they’re terrorist hackers, but between each other there’s a strong understand of each other’s values and wishes, and it makes both their relationship and the Hanois in general a stronger team. also aesthetically, two white-haired characters looks nice - and i like that they sort of complement each other while also retaining their personal quirks ^^

Ace - Favortie ace monster of a character

Ema’s Altergeist Primebanshee - i have no clue how good it is in a match, but i love Ema’s deck and play style, and her duels are fun, and this card kicks ass (how does she lose with it then?!)

1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.

I answered this one but I thought of another one: anything that reads like it’s a fever dream meant to be read only between the hours of like 1-3 am: heavily atmospheric, potentially plotty and/or cryptic, and definitely something that feels like it’s once removed from any sort of ‘reality’. I don’t think I’ve really written fic like this yet but it’s so fun to read...

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Amnesia!!! I saw this trope over in various Japanese fandom fic a while ago and fell in love with it. I technically wrote like. a paragraph of this back a while ago for Spectre and Yusaku (which come to think of it was basically the prototype fic for what beautiful future became lol) but I haven’t really done anything with the trope yet… this upcoming arc of vrains should be good ammunition for this though and I’m very excited

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

hmmmm, sickfic? Excluding hanahaki and magical illnesses for the sake of plot, I guess. It’s not really the kind of hurt/comfort that interests me. (probably because when I’m sick the only thing I want is to die and be left alone so I can sleep 18 hours straight lol)

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write? 

Of the ones I’ve published, probably Chocolate Dreaming? A lot of the time I was working on it I was just going “don’t think about it just write don’t think about it just write and get it done” which is always a sign I have no idea what I’m doing but have a deadline that can’t be moved lol

I also ended up dropping ‘we might just end up lonely after all’ (which is that au spectre & aoi fic) for like a month because I was really frustrated with it and ended up actually drafting and fully rewriting it which I almost never do for fic. I’m a lot happier with the end result though

when he’s effectively comforting/caring for himself, he takes a break, hangs out in the house, and reads a little fiction for a bit. His non-effective care strategies usually involve eating/fasting and spending way too much time on the computer

he really likes bright, sunny days that aren’t too hot, but rainy cloudy days that are a little chilly are the best for reading books

he’s a soprano and spends his years well into his early twenties telling people he just has to wait for his voice to change (it finished changing years ago)

how/what they like to draw or doodle

he’s at that stage right before an anime artist gets good, but they think they’ve unlocked godtier art style and should replace comic book artists because they’re doing soooo much better, see!!! (big eyes, REALLY wide face trying to subvert the ‘same face’ stereotype, and way too impractical clothes because they look ‘cool’)

He probably shows them off to Kon and his teammates a lot

Original summary: Bruce Wayne deals with a serious illness, one that threatens the most crucial part of himself. He and the family try to cope with their own fears and expectations about it and then the aftermath. This is written partly as character study, partly as family drama.

Of course I wouldn’t mind! If anything it’s great for people to sit down and read a lot of consecutive canon material (and then distribute canon findings). This fandom has a lot of issues with fanon bleeding into where it shouldn’t, so by all means go for it.
