Lapidot Human videoblogers AU PART 1

So, I had this idea for a few days and I finally wrote it. Wow. It’s long, I never wrote an AU like this, and I hope someone will like it =) 

PART 2 IS HERE 

and yes this will have mistakes in my English and I’m sorry

Peridot is a gamer and has a popular YouTube channel. She makes streams, letsplays, and because of her funny reaction to winning or losing, people like to watch her channel. Or they just put the video as a background while they are doing something, because Peridot is never silent, almost always comments on the game.  

She lives with Steven and the rest CG in one big apartment that Steven's father bought. Everyone has a room. She is about 19-20 years old, Steven is 14, and he sometimes appears on her stream as a co-player. The rest CG, by the way, also sometimes appear there as interlocutors, analysts, co-players, or simply come to say hi.

Peridot lives a not very social life. She mostly stays at home and plays, because to earn money from a channel like this, you have to make many videos. Sometimes she is invited to all sorts of blogger festivals or gamers conventions, and she willingly agrees. This is a change of atmosphere, usually the organizers pay for the tickets. Also a blogger can talk with fans, and Peridot loves her fans.

Lapis is also a blogger, but in a completely different area. She travels and shows the culture of other countries, traditions, food, language, everything she can learn. She usually arrives in the country, spends a week in the capital, and then goes to cities for another week. Then she returns to her hometown, where she spends two weeks on video editing and loading them on her channel. After a little rest she travels somewhere else.

Money for trips is usually taken from sponsors (advertising of airlines, hotels, cafes, and so on), although earlier she had to travel with her saved money by working as an artist and handmaker. She still draws, and brings from travel a lot of sketches that she collects and loves more than photos.

Lapis and Peridot have never met, but they watch each other’s channels. Lapis likes to put Peridot's video on the background, while she is doing some kind of home routine, sometimes she watches her streams if the hotel has good internet. She likes to listen to the stories of Peridot and Steven, and she likes the way Peridot reacts to what is happening around.

Peridot likes to watch Lapis' channel, because she has never traveled much, but the world around her is still interesting, and Lapis, unlike many similar bloggers, doesn't stick to the script, doesn't have an operator, doesn't learn the text and shows what is around, not just herself on the screen.

Lapis is sincerely excited about everything new around and talks about how beautiful the world is, and Peridot sees all this beauty through her eyes, but most of all she admires Lapis, who in her 20+ y.o (maybe 23) isn't afraid to travel all alone.

In short, they watch each other's videos, but they never chatted or spoke.

Once, at one of the gaming festivals, Peridot was a guest at an interview with fans, where one fan asked about what other channels she likes. Peridot named several game channels and added that besides this she likes Lazuli's travel blog. "I know that we are subscribed to each other, but I don't know why she is subscribed to me. Lazuli, I know that some subscribers will come to your comments with this question, so you can answer me somewhere, because I'm interested. Do you play something that I play?"

Of course, people came Lapis' comments with this question, and Lapis preferred to answer in her instagramm with the answer: “I played games when I was a teenager, now I don’t have time and people to play with, so sometimes I watch how other people play and enjoy. Peridot does it better than anyone, I like her sincere emotions every time something goes no according to her plan."

According to the "law" of the society of YouTube, fans began to demand joint streams. Lapis promised to think when she returns home from another trip, and Peridot didn’t really think about it. Lapis was a busy person. But two weeks later, Lapis wrote that she had suddenly completed all the editing, she has free time, and some kind of collaboration can bring subscribers to both of them. So Peridot chose the least difficult game that can be played together, and they make the stream. Their fans were delighted.

Unfortunately, because of her travels planned for six months ahead, Lapis couldn’t play with Peridot often, but they started to talk and quickly became friends (they love the same TV shows, of course). Gradually, the communication came to chatting every day (as far as possible and still as friends). Lapis didn't consider Peridot as a potential romantic partner, because Lapis wasn't looking for anyone. She knew that she was never at home, and no one would travel with her.

It lasts for about half a year, after which Lapis understands that she needs a break from constant traveling, and the next trip will be the last for some time. And, wow, what a coincidence, it turns out that she goes to the country where Peridot lives. Lapis goes there for quite a long time, so it seems to her that she can meet Peridot personally, since they are already good friends.

Peridot offers her to stay at her place, because everyone goes on vacation, only Stepven stays and there are 3 free rooms in the apartment. Lapis doesn't want to impose, but on the other hand she is pretty tired of the hotels, and this time she didn't even book something in advance, so she agrees with the condition that she will rent a room and not just live there.

Steven is delighted with their guest. He asks lots of questions and tells that Pearl took him to different countries too, and that once he went somewhere with Peridot, and says that traveling is so cool. Lapis doesn't believe that he is 14, it seems to her that he is much smarter than his age. Peridot greets her cordially, but doesn't talk to her as often as Steven, giving her free space and time.

In order to repay hospitality and company, Lapis cooks something tasty in the evenings, because, as it turned out, Peridot doesn't know how to cook. Steven knows how, but only snacks, nothing that you can eat normally.

Lapis spends days in the city, and only occasionally Peridot makes her company. Sometimes she helps her to film or tells her that she knows about this or that place, and Lapis warns her that she wouldn't cut it out of the video, and would definitely show the audience that Peridot is not only a nerd in games but also in history.  

One evening, Peridot is going to make a stream with the donates, because her playing chair broke and she needed a new one, until "her back broke from sitting on a simple chair". In order to attract more viewers, she says that she has a special guest today, and the fans are absolutely delighted when Lapis turns out to be the one, because many of people ships them. Peridot doesn’t endorse the shipping of real people, but so far nothing bad has happened, so it’s okay.

The audience donates with different questions and wishes, and Peridot and Lapis willingly tell something and share stories about the first games, the countries where they would like to go, about their favorite animals, TV shows and so on. The result is that they have the same dream - a small house near a lake, with a garden, a corgi and decorated in the style of Camp Pining Hearts.

One donation comes with the signature "how much I need to donate, to make you kiss each other." Peridot laughs and says “zero, this is a violation of personal space,�� and Lapis shrugs and answers “two thousand bucks”. "Nobody will send so much at once, calm down. And if they send, we can think of something."

And BAM - someone donates such a sum.

They are both shocked, and the chat almost explodes. Lapis looks embarrassed and guilty, Peridot just blushes and looks away. In the end, they agree that this is “friendly” and “means nothing”, and they will not do this anymore. The kiss doesn't last long, but it was pleasant and warm. Lapis unwittingly thinks that it is precisely a kind of feeling that you feel when you kiss someone after returning home. She had never experienced such a thing before. Nobody waited for her at home, and this brought anguish to her: she instantly understood how good it was to live with Peridot this week, and how pleasant it was to come back, hearing a simple "hey".

After the stream, which lasted a little more, for the first time they talk about love and relationships, and Lapis says that in fact the whole problem is not that she is constantly traveling, but that she is afraid that she has a difficult character and no one will wait for her after each trip. And that if her partner asks her to stop traveling, she won't be able to agree to this, because traveling is her life and dream.

Peridot says that she has about the same thing - the channel takes a lot of time and effort, and that she will spend more time with the computer then with her girlfriend. But Peridot, unlike Lapis, isn't afraid to try, and everything is really solved by long and hard work on travel schedules and other things. She doesn't want to put pressure on Lapis, and doesn't force her to anything, but it seems to her that they are very similar and something can work out between them.  

Lapis promises she will think about it. She leaves soon, will be busy with editing and she wants to rest from all the fuss. Peridot understands everything and replies that she will wait for an answer. Lapis leaves, returns to her home and works on the editing for several days, trying not to think about anything because she is afraid of starting something that can break their hearts.  

Peridot goes the other way. She records a video to her channel (a letsplay) in which she talks about why she doesn't date anyone, and how this topic of relationships has affected her life in general. This is not the entire video dedicated to this particular topic - she plays as usual, but on the background she tells this story. In the end, she says that there is a person who is most likely afraid to start something, but she is ready to give all support and adds "in any case, not a place is important, but a person you can always return to and say "hey"".

Lapis (and some Peridot's viewers) understands what this video means. Peridot cleverly disguised everything, but it is enough for Lapis to surrender.  

After a while, subscribers of Lapis' instagram see the instastory which says “I'm going to say "hey” to one blond nerd” and a picture of a travel bag.

Our Inevitability

A short little fic I wrote over the weekend inspired by Dark_Mage_of_Ylisse’s story on AO3 titled Nobody Loves You The Way I Do. I love the idea of Yandere!Lapis, so I couldn’t resist trying my hand at it. Don’t be afraid to tell me I suck!

How did it end up like this?

Hair disheveled, fingers twitching, and shoulders hunched, Peridot curled into a ball on her single bed in the darkness of her room. She had her alien printed blanket wrapped tightly around her like a cocoon; a barrier between her and the harsh, indescribably complicated world outside. It gave her some physical comfort, but did not help to ease the raging hurricane of thoughts swirling in her head.

It's got to be a joke.

Really, it had to be. There was no way any of what Peridot had heard was real. It was just some silly joke she was fussing unnecessarily about.

She seemed so serious though...

Peridot's day had started out very common. She ate breakfast with her mother, showered and dressed in her usual green hoodie, rode her little moped to school, met up with her friends, and went to class. It was the typical day of a junior in Beach City High, and Peridot was very content for it to be so. She was never a fan of unpredictability. She lived her life with certainty and accuracy. She knew what she wanted, and worked hard for it. Monotony was not something she would let get in her way.

Her friends helped with said monotony, their antics and lively discussions keeping her entertained enough to bear through the dullness of school life. They were the best people she could ever ask to have around. Her friends and fellow juniors Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, the freshman Steven, and her best friend, Lapis, who was a senior.

Lapis in particular had been particularly delightful. They had met in Peridot's freshman year, quickly becoming close after Peridot noticed Lapis' wonderful drawings and complimenting her on them. Lapis at first seemed a little hesitant to open up to Peridot, but thanks to Peridot's incessant and at times quirky nature, Lapis cracked. The two had been inseparable ever since.

The only problem was that none of her other friends seemed to like Lapis, other than Steven who liked everyone without fail. When Peridot had introduced Lapis to the group, they had been cordial and open to the idea of adding her into the fold, only to reject her a few days later. They all tried advising her to stay away from Lapis, much to Peridot's shock. When she tried questioning them as to why they thought Lapis wasn't a good person to be around, they all immediately went tight-lipped. To this day she couldn't get them to explain why they were so wary of her friend. Only that they disapproved of her relationship with her.

This, of course, did not stop Peridot from hanging out with Lapis as much as possible. As stated before, Peridot knew what she wanted and would not let it get away from her so easily, and she most definitely wanted to be Lapis' friend... if not a little more eventually...

Much to her groups' chagrin, Peridot and Lapis were practically glued at the hip. Peridot would always meet up with her friends at the school gates, and then find Lapis waiting for her at the main entrance. They only had two classes together throughout the day, but Lapis would always somehow find a way to meet Peridot just as the bell rang and walk her to her next class. They had lunch together, free period together, and would always be partners in any type of group project in their classes. They shared their hopes, dreams, and almost every thought in their heads. They would spend the night at each other's' house during the weekends and cuddle while watching TV or playing video games.

They were, by all intents and purposes, best friends.

Peridot would easily contribute most of her happiness to Lapis, and had hoped to one day maybe tell her as such. But as much as they shared together, Peridot kept that her little secret. She wasn't ready to confess her feelings to Lapis just yet, she'd told herself. One day she would, but she had needed time to prepare.

Little did she know she would never be prepared for what was to come.

As her day had carried on and she followed her usual routine, she noticed something odd about Lapis' behavior. When they met in the morning she seemed a bit clingier, letting their hug linger a little longer than usual. Peridot hadn't minded, but did indeed notice Lapis reluctance to let go. After first period passed Lapis seemed anxious for Peridot to come out of the classroom as she bounced from foot to foot. As they walked Lapis kept brushing their hands together, as if wanting to hold it, making Peridot blush. During their first class together Peridot could feel Lapis continuously staring at her, only turning away whenever Peridot glanced back at her.

It was a little overwhelming, and it had Peridot worried. Which was why when their shared free period came around she decided to confront Lapis about it.

What a mistake... she would think later, looking back on it while hiding under her blanket.

When Peridot questioned her best friend about her behavior, the answer had been unabashed and immediate.

"I think we should cut the bullshit, Peri," she had said, an odd look in her ocean blue eyes.

Peridot had been taken aback by this. "W-What do you mean?" she had questioned, nonplussed.

Lapis had taken Peridot's hand and cupped it tightly, pulling her closer. This had made Peridot blush.

"We've been skating around each other for two years now," Lapis explained, a wide smile spreading across her face. "I think it's time we stop this game of cat and mouse and just give in to our feelings, my sweet Peri-baby."

Peridot had stared, stunned into silence. Those words had not just come out of Lapis' mouth!

"I just can't help myself anymore," Lapis went on, reaching out to caress Peridot's already flushed cheek as she spoke, still holding Peridot's hand close to her chest. "Seeing your beautiful face every day... smelling your delicious scent... feeling your skin against mine... it drives me crazy. We're meant to be, and I'm tired of playing these silly games around the fact. It's about time we just be together. You agree, right? Peridot?"

Peridot had finally been able to snap out of her shock-induced trance and, without even thinking about it, pulled away. She almost regretted it, for the look of shock and hurt on Lapis' face stung deep in her heart.

But the words Lapis had just spoken held enough force behind them to push her away.

"Lapis, what are you saying right now?" Peridot had silently gulped. "I-I don't understand what's happening right now...”

"Oh God," Lapis had gasped, covering her mouth. A look of terror crossed her features, as if she were witnessing a murder. "Was I... did I read the signals wrong? You don't... you don't like me, do you?"

"N-No!" Peridot stammered quickly. "I-I didn't say that I just-"

The look of terror had quickly evaporated at Peridot's words, joyful exuberance quickly taking its place as Lapis reached out and took Peridot's hand again.

"So you do love me!" Lapis had interrupted. "I knew it!"

"Wait, what?!" Peridot had sputtered. "L-L-Love?!"

"I love you too, my sweet Peri-baby," Lapis had nearly sung, a look of unmeasurable joy on her face, her smile so wide almost every tooth was showing in her mouth. "I've loved you since that first moment when you complimented my drawings. No one else ever said such nice things to me with such sincerity before. Your beautiful green eyes had captivated me so easily."

"Lapis, wait-"

"I tried to fight it at first, tried to avoid you, hoping these feelings would go away but the moment I gave in... it was nirvana being by your side. I just couldn't get enough of you! You were the sweetest drug, each and every moment we spent together just like the first high. It was never enough, I had to have more and more!"

"Please, just listen to me for a sec-"

"All those nights thinking of you, those sleepovers where I'd watch you sleep all night long; every moment of every day just looking at you... it was painful knowing you weren't mine yet. But I knew you weren't ready, I gave you the space you needed. I waited, but I just can't wait any longer! I can't stand not having you be mine, my darling."

Peridot had felt as if her ears were on literal fire. "L-Lapis!"

Lapis had finally seemed ready to listen, as she dialed back her smile to a more tender one as she leaned forward, intently staring into Peridot's eyes. "Yes, my love?"

"This..." Peridot had coughed, feeling as if someone had a hand clenched tightly around her throat. "This is too much! I-I don't know how to process this!"

Lapis had cooed softly as she ran her thumb over Peridot's knuckles. "It's okay, I know. It's so relieving to me as well, to finally get it all out there! Knowing we can finally be together... there is no greater joy!"

"This is all a joke," Peridot had finally surmised. "Y-You're messing with me!"

The frown on Lapis' face showed her dismay at these words. "What are you saying? I would never mess with you, my sweet Peri-"

"No!" Peridot had yanked her hands away, shame coursing through her. "This isn't funny!"

"Peridot-" Lapis had tried to speak, but she didn't give her the chance. She had quickly turned on her heel and ran in the opposite direction, not daring to look back at the horrified look on Lapis' face.

She hadn't even bothered to go to her locker to retrieve her books before running out of the school and speeding home on her moped to cry her eyes out in her bed. She had spent quite a few hours just lying there, shivering and sobbing, flitting in and out of a restless sleep until finally night came and she ended up right where she was: hair disheveled, fingers twitching, shoulders hunched, and curled into an emotionally compromised blanket cocoon on her bed.

Peridot had cried herself out at least an hour before, feeling like an empty pit that was once a lake; a replay of that conversation running constantly in her mind, each and every time making her feel more and more numb.

Why would Lapis do that to her? Even if she really didn't know beforehand that Peridot had feelings for her, that still was not right. It was just mean! And Lapis had never once been mean like that to her before. Why so suddenly would she play such a cruel prank?

Unless...

What if she hadn't been joking? What if...

"No way," Peridot whispered out loud to herself. "All those things she said, they couldn't be true."

Lapis being in love with her? Watching her sleep? Obsessing over her so intensely? Absolutely ridiculous! Peridot was not that special that someone like Lapis could be so fervently in love with her. It just had to all be a joke. There just wasn't any way!

Peridot pulled her blanket tighter around her, letting the dark thoughts pull her further down the pit of despair. She closed her eyes and just let time pass her by, unaware of how much of it escaped her before a soft knock came at her door.

"Not now mom," Peridot called out hoarsely, knowing instantly who it was. Her mother must have gotten a call about her sudden absence from school and would most likely be worried about her. "I'm not feeling so good."

Despite her protest, her bedroom door opened slowly and she could hear her mother step into the room. Peridot had her back to the door, having preferred to face her window to stare out into the night sky while entrapped in her thoughts, but she could hear the footsteps of someone softly walking towards her bed.

"Mom, please," Peridot tried again, groaning. "I don't feel very well, so I just want to-"

"Is my Peri-baby sick?"

Peridot's blood ran cold at the sound of not her mother's voice but of, "Lapis?!"

Peridot shot straight up from her huddled position on her bed, eyes wide in horror and her mouth open wide in shock as, indeed, Lapis seated herself at the end of her bed, a look of concern in her blue eyes.

"My sweet darling," the blue haired girl gasped upon seeing Peridot's disheveled appearance. "Your eyes are bloodshot and puffy! Have you been crying?"

"H-How did you get into my house?" Peridot ignored her question with one of her own. "Where's my mother? Mom!"

"Hush," Lapis scooted closer to Peridot, unfazed by Peridot's cry for help. "Your mother isn't here right now. It's just the two of us."

Peridot felt her heart sink into her stomach. "W-Where is she?"

"Don't worry about that right now," Lapis waved her hand, dismissing the question. "We need to talk-"

"I am very worried!" Peridot screeched, cutting her off, panic coursing through her. "I am concerned, disconcerted, perturbed, synonyms!"

Lapis giggled loudly, covering her mouth to try and hold it in. "Oh my god! You are so cute when you freak out! You just start throwing out words I barely understand and it makes me smile!"

Peridot felt her face flush at this, suddenly realizing just how close Lapis had scooted towards her.

"Why are you doing this?" Peridot whispered, gripping her alien themed blanket tightly in her fists. "Why are you teasing me like this?"

"I am not teasing you," Lapis answered, her giggle fit ending. She leaned her face closer, to which Peridot responded by pulling back, pressing the back of her head against the wall. "Okay, maybe right now I am a little." She gave a sly grin for a moment, but then pulled it back into a tender expression. "I do have to ask you something, though, my love. Earlier, you said I was messing with you. I've been trying to figure out what you could possibly mean by that. Please, my angel, tell me what you meant."

"What do you mean 'what do I mean'?" Peridot exploded. "All of this... these sweet nicknames, calling me beautiful, telling me you... you love me... it's all obviously a joke! You're pranking me, and it's already gone too far!"

Lapis' tender expression shifted, taking Peridot aback at the sudden intensity on her face. Lapis slammed her hand against the wall next to Peridot's head abruptly, sending a jolt up and down her spine.

"You think I'm lying to you?" Lapis accused, a hard edge to her voice. "You think this is all a joke?"

Peridot suddenly didn't know what to say. Any and all confidence she had of this all being some sort of elaborate prank was dwindling quickly, and very acutely she was realizing the possibility of how dangerous Lapis could actually be.

"Y-Yes?" Peridot finally mustered the courage to answer weakly after a moment of being stared down.

"I love you!" Lapis asserted. "I have loved you since the moment we met! You are all I think of, all I could ever want and more! You are my Goddess in human form, and I worship you religiously, my dear, sweet, confused love. I have done everything I can to make you happy, to keep you close and safe! I tried to force those 'friends' of yours to stay away-"

"You what?!"

"-but they refused to listen, and I wanted so, so badly to make them disappear, but I didn't because I could see they made you smile. And that's all I've ever wanted, for you to smile for me..." Peridot could hear Lapis' nails dragging down the wall next to her head, a sound that made her cringe. "I am in love with you, Peridot. Don't you ever doubt that."

Peridot felt like throwing up. This couldn't be real, couldn't be happening. This was a nightmare - a horrible, horrible nightmare.

Please wake up!

"If you aren't willing to say it back just yet, I understand," Lapis lamented softly, leaning forward to press her forehead against Peridot's. The blonde winced, wanting to pull away but trapped against the wall. She was forced to sit there as Lapis brought herself as close as possible, whispering sweet, yet deranged words into her ear. "I have been very patient, and as much as it pains me I will continue to be so, for you."

Peridot felt tears start to form at the corner of her eyes, gently falling down her cheeks in thick streaks. This was too much, too scary. She felt sick and dizzy and ready to faint. She couldn't handle much more of this.

"Lapis, please..."

"Sssh," Lapis hushed her once again. "It's okay, my love. I will let you rest for now, but I promise I will always be close by to keep you safe. We'll be together soon once you realize our inevitability."

Lapis closed those final few centimeters between them and kissed Peridot on the lips gently, eliciting a mousy whimper from the terrified young girl. When she pulled back, she held a look of pure euphoria, her tongue lashing out to savor the taste of Peridot on her lips.

"I love you, Peri-baby," Lapis said, finally pulling away. "You will see me again tomorrow, I promise. Oh, and don't tell anyone about this, okay? I don't want to have to hurt anyone... again."

And with that, Lapis left the room, a dreamy, crooked smile on her face as she closed the door behind her, never once letting her eyes stray from Peridot for even a second until the door was closed.

Peridot broke down then, her once empty lake now roaring with crashing waves as she spilled new, hot tears.

I remember I was avidly looking for some fics involving the development between Barn mates and Beta, I really wanted to see how these 2 became so close, and this fic gave me a wonderfully written, emotion filled story. 

I just love the pacing here, the author didn’t rush anything. Soft and slow and so lovely, everything I coud ask for in their development -afterall they had all the time they wanted. But still not satisfied, there’s something that just completes this fic, that you’ll have to discover for yourself when you read it ;)

If you like theatre you’ll surely love this one. I myself learnt a bit more about productions, as an example of how much effort was put into this story. There’s just so much emotion and detail it’s a pure joy to read. There’s s/exual tension and slow burn too, but trust me you’ll love it as much as I did.

Definitely my favorie story from the lapidot fanfic queen Insomniac Arrest. It’s a long ride, slow burn, but totally worth it. I really admire how much characterization is put into this and with such realism. She wasn’t afraid to touch some themes that were important for the characters to grow, and there’s lots of fluff and subtle references from the show too! The ending is the sweetest thing and I’d rather not spoil anything than gush about all my favorite parts, but I’d love to talk more about it with anyone who’s read it!

This au is peculiar, written before Barn mates and the “new era” of lapidot, this story offers a different perspective on Lapis and Peridot living together on earth. It features interpretation of their personalities from the earliest lapidot days, with Lapis being the funny easy-going one and Peridot the more reserved of the duo. Regardless, it’s a good read with interesting scenes and a captivating writing style. The story isn’t finished but I kinda like where it stopped, it leaves it to your interpretation how they’ll go from there.

Fourth Grade

Peridot Barns tapped her foot on the pavement, the edges of her mouth tugged down as the line spread out in front of her, an irritated twitch was forming in her eyebrow.

Katie McMillan guarded a little pass toward the back of the school where a small alley ran between the music and art building. Peridot tapped her foot even harder.

Patrick Kirby went into the inlet with his chipped front tooth and goofy look on his face, Peridot rolled her eyes. She heard a short transaction in front of her and she frowned at the sky until the minute passed.

Patrick came back with an even bigger goofy grin on his face. She could count the number of baby teeth he still had.

Peridot turns hotly on her heels to the front entrance, Katie McMillan rose a fine dark eyebrow at her and put an arm out in her way.

“What?” Peridot lifted her chin, “I’m not even allowed to go in now?”

Katie’s eyes dart back into the shallow inlet, Peridot tried to look over her arm and a girl around her own age was staring back. The girl nods.

“Let her in.” Katie gave a low noise, “But keep close.” Peridot wrinkled her nose and walked stiffly into what Lapis apparently called ‘her office.’ It was just the dingy alley with an old card table set up, Lapis sat on a crate and looked bored.

“I want a number of 9!” Peridot slapped a five dollar bill she borrowed from her sister on the table. “If you will.” It was almost a threat.

Lapis raised one smudgy black eyebrow and lifted her face coolly up, “So you heard.” Peridot pulled at her own hair, “What?!” Lapis shrugged, “Dia wanted to add number nine. I said sure.” Lapis grinned, “For most everyone.” Theresa Diamond was one of the set of sisters that organized everything in this school. Dia ruled the fourth grade, Lapis was apparently ‘good enough’ to help.

Peridot narrowed her eyes, “Maria said I was the only one in the school that you wouldn’t do the kissing booth with.”

Lapis beamed, “Correct!”

Peridot balled up her hands and felt the bubbling words brew up from inside her, the worst ones, “Screw you!”

Lapis laughed and tossed her hair back, messing it up slightly. “That’s what you get.” Peridot slapped her hands down on the table, “This is...unfair! Injustice!”

“You told on me.” Lapis said shrewdly with her teeth bared, “You told Mrs. Sydney I was the one that let the fish go.” “You put it in the art room sink?” Peridot felt the next argument surfacing. “It was in danger.”

Katie stepped between them curiously, “Relax, it’s just a kiss on the cheek Barns.” She says with a slight frown.

Lapis almost giggled, “Hey, I’ll do on the mouth if you have a twenty. But closed mouth!”

Peridot stuck her tongue out a turned away, “Gross! You’re gross. I wouldn’t want a kiss from you anyway.” “Good! We’re putting up signs next! Kissing booth for everyone but Peridot,” Lapis called after her.

Peridot made more faces over her shoulder at Lapis until they both parted ways.

Lapis sold other things, like juice boxes and better markers but apparently, Peridot was the only one she wouldn’t sell a kiss to.

Seventh Grade

Peridot had three things that day: a headache, the purse her mom gave her with a large embroidered rose, and enough potato salad to feed a small army.

She didn’t want any of these things.

More importantly, Peridot didn’t want to go to her school’s ‘Spirit’ picnic, it was the end of the year, she wanted to go to bed for three days.

Her mom wouldn’t hear it.

Peridot was forced to put on her best sundress and ‘kitten pumps’ that made her toes ache and her mom telling her they wouldn’t be outdone by the Sanchez’s this year. Peridot tried to leverage her way out with the puffy red As on her report card, but grades were a given her mom said, not a carrot or stick.

Peridot found herself lugging her weary eyes over the bright green grass, the sticky Carolina humidity was already coating her skin and the sun tasted hot in her mouth.

Her mom took her potato salad and Peridot gratefully slipped away. She found a little distant slice of lawn and makes sure everyone else is busy.

“Ugh,” She flopped down on the grass and rolled over. It tickled her neck and she briefly watches the rounded cool whip clouds graze over the sky. She sighs.

It took twenty more minutes for many other students to arrive, Peridot’s family was the type to be more than a little early.

She could hear her phone buzz, she looks back up at the piercing blue sky, she should go congratulate Pearl Shimada’s science fair project. It was on the physics of floating objects.

Peridot rolls onto her stomach and lets the grass tickle her chin languidly. She didn’t want to go congratulate Pearl.

She could also pay her respects to Theresa like some sort of mob boss or just watch that Sapphire girl flirt the world thin with Ruby.

Peridot closes her eyes and lets her phone ring.

It was the end of the semester.

She has swimming visions of fish and a silky dream about being boiled in a butter ocean, it was more stressful than it sounded. The dream faded in and out of cool whip fluffy clouds. She may or may not snore.

“Peridot!”

Peridot jerks up, her blurry eyes popping open as someone called her name.

“Peridot! There you are, aren’t you allergic to grass? What are you doing?” Peridot rubbed her eyes and looked up with a squint, “I’m allergic to,” She yawns, “Cottonwood, eggs, walnuts, bees-” “Okay, okay.” Lapis Lazuli was standing before her in a loose blue skirt and a dark shirt promoting a band apparently called ‘The Cocaine Hooligans.’ She smelled distantly of chlorine.

Peridot frowns slightly and sits all the way up, “Did they serve the cake yet?” She asks in a flat tone as she tries to swallow the gray taste in her mouth.

Lapis kneeled down and shoved a twenty in her hands, “No. But my mom will look over in like a minute, quick.” “Quick what?” Peridot looked around and then back down at their hands with the green bill in it, “What’s this for?” “Twenty if you kiss me.” Peridot wrinkled her nose and looked up, “That doesn’t make sense. You called me a nerd...yesterday.”

Lapis was glancing over her shoulder, trying to get the attention of a dark-haired women in a pencil skirt, “Kiss, kiss, it will be like the fourth grade!”

“I was the only one in the fourth grade who didn’t get to use your kissing booth!”

Lapis snickered, “You do know I kicked half those boys in the end anyway.” “You put up a ‘do not kiss list’ with only my face.” “Come ooooon,” Lapis trying to slip the twenty into Peridot’s hand like she was was a faulty vending machine, “That was four years ago.” Lapis looked over her shoulder, “I need something big.” Peridot frowned for a moment, glancing over Lapis’s long painted eyelashes and slightly parted purple-gloss lips, she sniffs, “Wasn’t the hair enough?” Lapis was the first girl their grade to dye her hair, 2 weeks before Teddy got red streaks in hers, but everyone was talking about Lapis Lazuli. Lapis was all blue.

She watches her eyelashes again.

Lapis seemed to try and yank her forward, “She told me to get my ‘act put together right now young lady,’” She does a high-pitched little voice and Peridot almost smiles, “And then made fun of Ellen Degeneres for her suits. I’m going to show her!” Lapis was scowling and Peridot used her free hand to push her bangs back, her phone buzzed again. She glanced down, 3 missed calls from mom.

Peridot takes a deep breath, “Pass.” She straightens her least favorite yellow skirt out and shakes the grass out of her front, “I have my own mom to worry about,” She lifted her chin, “And I’m not taking money to kiss you! Weird.”

She goes to get up, Lapis flaps the twenty back and forth, “It’s easy money, I know you want to buy some geeky game right now or something... And my mom will be so mad!”

Peridot rolls away and shuffles to her feet, “I can’t even handle old Mr. Sheldon looking at me wrong. Getting adults mad is your thing.” “She has it coming! She went through my emails yesterday.” Peridot searched Lapis’s eyes for a moment, “I guess that’s just how it is when you’re on the ‘no kiss list.’” “Barns! Take my twenty.” Peridot turned around. “You’ll have to make me!”

“Ugh,” Peridot started running, trying to get back to the picnic as Lapis trailed her, “Just kiss me!”

“No!” Maybe she was laughing now, huffing as her lungs filled up with liquid air, Lapis made faces at her from behind.

“Uncool!”

Peridot winked as she got in line for the last of the cake, “Revenge.” Lapis tried to get two other people to kiss her for ‘shock value’ and Peridot complemented Pearl through gritted teeth. Lapis didn’t trail her again that night but Peridot studied her back with the eyes of a painter. She was impossible.

Eleventh Grade

Peridot glanced up at the muggy night clouds, almost purple in the November night sheen. It was just cold enough for a jacket and just warm enough to feel the thick air clammy across her cheeks.

Peridot set her jaw and picked her way across trimmed green lawn, the houses here were all wide apart and surrounded by bushy green trees.

The noise of a thumping house faced her to her left and she kicked a red solo cup across the grass and into the brown fence.

“Hey Peridot!” Some girl, Kathy Lane maybe, called to her from inside, “Woah, now they’ve really invited everyone haha, you look good!” “Thanks,” Peridot says airily and moves quickly.

She cleared the window where Kathy was waving at her from inside, the girl was red in the face and Peridot felt a little tense. She darts past a couple making out in the shadow of the house and rounds the porch into a chattering backyard.

She skims the throngs of teenagers congressing outside and spies mostly seniors, this was a party above her pay grade.

She’s being offered some dripping pink boxed wine when she sees a figure in a blue letterman jacket and a mop of electric blue hair.

The girl was facing away from them and slumped against a railing as some junior bothered her. Peridot sidestepped the last of the seniors, an honors student wearing a chest champion metal and starts waving.

“Yo,” She floats her way to the edge of the yard and makes her way in front of Lapis Lazuli, “Hey Lazuli, I’m here.” Lapis’s dark eyes flick over to Peridot and something in her brow softens, “Hey.” She said softly. Lazuli was hunched over, holding her stomach and looking a little pale in the light.

“Hey, it’s Barns, that’s one way to choose a plus one Lap.” The junior, Mark something, was trying to laugh with his popping freckles and earnest knocking knees.

“Buzz off Mark.” Peridot waved her hand in the air, “Lapis doesn’t feel well.” Mark turned, “You aren’t? Did you drink too much?”

Lapis scowls slowly at the other boy and then turns back to Peridot, “No.” She looks at Peridot, “Did you bring your scooter?” Peridot blinks, “It’s on the next street,” Peridot looks around, “parking is a mess right now.” Lapis grins and then holds her jacket a little closer to her frame, she was still wearing her blue swimmers one piece and a pair of jean shorts over them. Peridot saw a trophy being passed around inside but she doubted Lapis cared that much.

Peridot reached out, “Come on.” Lapis nods they start to head toward the front of the house again, picking her up was the least thing Peridot could do after the other girl spent that night at her house doing breathing exercises before Peridot’s first AP test.

Lapis was still holding her stomach and not looking particularly like a swimming state champion, Peridot doesn’t say anything.

They make it to the front of the yard, people were setting up a beer pong table out front.

Thomas Casper looks up, a senior who had also almost qualified for nationals. Almost.

“Lapis!” He calls, “Woah, you brought your gremlin.” Peridot could have kicked him, “You okay? Smile! We haven’t had anyone go to nationals since ‘00.”

Lapis did not smile. Henry elbowed his friend, “Leave her alone, the queen swimmer doesn’t have to smile.” “She doesn’t smile.” One of the girls said with a laugh.

“She’s still moping about getting drunk at state and sulking over not having gotten a first kiss or something.” Someone whispers, they laugh, Lapis holds up both her hands and flips them off.

“Hey, it’s all in good fun. I can help-”

Peridot takes Lapis’s elbow and they navigate back out into the wide paved streets. Lapis was still huffing moodily.

“Do you need an advil?” Peridot finally asks quietly.

Lapis was looking down at her feet, “it’sfine.” She mumbles, “I’m not even sick.” Peridot looks her up and down as she held her stomach, “Ya’ sure?” Lapis rolls her eyes, “I didn’t even want that damn trophy.” She grimaces, “And now they have ‘expectations,’ and ‘our champion’ bs, I would eat school spirit alive if I could.” Peridot blinks, “Hey, look at it this way. Mrs. Shaw said you’d be dropped out by now, so that’s coming a long way!”

Lapis chuckles, “If only, dropping out was honestly goals.” They turn the corner of the enormous elm tree, Lapis stops in place. “Now I have to go to nationals.” She wrinkles her nose, “After I said all those embarrassing things in front of my teammates.” She sniffs, “Not that I care.” Peridot sighs and puts out her hand out, they paused in the breath of the low branch overhang, “It couldn’t be that bad. You’re still cool Lazuli.” Lapis snickers, and then covers her mouth, “Obviously.” She seemed to be  smiling in the dimness.

Peridot looks around, spotting her green scooter off in the distance, she approaches where Lapis had stopped, “And what about fourth grade? You got paid to kiss people! That’s still a first kiss.”

��On the cheek,” Lapis protests, “They may have said it was on the mouth, but they are liars and I ended up kicking people in the shin mostly anyway.” Peridot raises her eyebrows, “You excluded me from being kicked in the shin all that time ago? Honestly.” Lapis frowned slightly, “Oh come on, that whole thing was so transparent.” Peridot wrinkled her brow and put her hands on her hips, “transparent?”

Lapis folded her arms across her stomach and looked to the left, “I wasn’t terribly subtle.”

She blinks, “Wait, what?” Lapis leaned forward, a stubbornness on her lip, “If you don’t know...then I won’t tell you.” Peridot threw her hands in the air, “All these years and it turns out there was some secret to it?! I can’t believe...I’m suing.”

“It was kind of obvious.” Lapis looks up at the tree branches as if studying them. “Not that it matters now.”

“What?” She insists.

Lapis sighs and scratches her neck, “I had a crush on you. Duh.���

Peridot stands up straight and blinks a couple times, and then blinks some more, “Oh.” Lapis shrugs and shifts from side to side, “granted, I was pretty much a little shit about it, but,” She twists her mouth to the side, “It was pretty definitely a thing.” Peridot gives a hesitant smile, “You had a crush on me?” Lapis blinks, “Yeah. I guess.” Peridot snorts, “A ‘no kiss list’ seems pretty counter-productive.” Lapis chuckles lowly, “You’re telling me!”

Peridot starts to laugh too, “Well, alright.” She searches her pockets and fumbled for her wallet, “But I’ll have you know I was pretty hung up about the whole thing.” She takes out a twenty, “but I’m sure you didn’t want to destroy me.” She bites her lip.

“Oh, I wanted to destroy you,” Lapis says with a grin.

Peridot shakes her head, “You know, I could help, with the whole state incident...and dilemma.”

Her face felt very hot, Lapis reaches for her pocket and takes out a little medal, the one from her free swim that wasn’t the trophy.

She slips the thick teal string overhead, “I know it’s not money…” Peridot quickly reaches out and gives her a five, “Well, I know it’s not a twenty…” Lapis closes her hand, pushing the money back toward her. Peridot lifts her chin curiously, eyes going as wide as saucers.

Lapis puts a hand under her chin and gently lifts her up farther, farther, Peridot finds herself pushing up on her tippy toes.

She gently closes the gap and Peridot feels her lips pressed into something soft and smelling of chlorine and nail polish. She closes her eyes and breathes deeply.

She feels her entire spine tingle and a dizziness filling her senses. It was slow and a little off center, but taking her apart like a deep exhale.

Lapis tilts her head and she deepens the kiss, everything is a little tunnel that funnels down down down to her.

Nothing is quite as sharp or surreal as the moment her first first kiss was with her fourth grade mean girl. Lapis is as soft as she is guarded and Peridot pulls her closer.

They kiss until it’s breathless and desperate and Peridot only has to pull away to start breathing again. Lapis looks down at her with hooded eyes.

“Not bad.” “Uh-huh.”

“Maybe worth my money’s worth.” Peridot looks down, “This is a medal.” Lapis leans down and kisses her cheek this time, “It’s gold.” Peridot puts out her hand, “Not bad then,” She grins, “Though you taste like an entire olympic swimming pool.” Lapis chuckles and takes her hand, “You better get used to it.” Peridot starts to guide her the rest of the way down the block, “I’ll be broke!”

“Maybe I’ll give you a discount.” “Yeah?” Peridot turns around to face her, reaching her lime green scooter. “What kind of discount?” Lapis shrugs a little shyly, “Well, for the right wooing, I hear girlfriends get a 100% off.” “100% off,” She says lowly, a little cheekily. “Sounds like my kind of deal.”

Lapis cheeks go a little rosier and she rolls her eyes before leaning down and kissing her on the lips again. A deep sparkling kiss and Peridot’s heart soars again.

“I didn’t say it would be easy,” Lapis says as they part, “I require the equivalent of forty dollars of wooing per hour.”

Peridot helps her on the scooter and they straddle the bike as she gets her helmet on.

“I’m up for a challenge.” Lapis almost sounds like she giggles. Giggles. She wraps her arms around her waist, “If I knew you could flirt I would have told you that elementary thing earlier.”

Peridot turns her head slightly, “If I knew you wanted a first kiss…” Lapis flicks Peridot’s visor down roughly, “I was pretty bad at getting it.” Peridot revs her engine, “Better late than never!”

Lapis holds on and they speed off with their elm tree and party to their back, the medal swings around her neck and something light bursts in her chest.

She hung up the ‘no kiss list’ sign on her locker for the rest of the year, their kind of joke before they snogged in the hall like idiots who sort of kind of liked each other since the fourth grade, and a long time after.

From Friday the 19th of August I will again be in full time education as well as studying and cleaning my house full time. Please understand that your commission will take a while, particularly at the end of the month.

Please do not rush or keep bugging me. I will give you updates, I will also sketch something or a character a few times if I am unfamiliar with them. The more complicated and unfamiliar the character is, the more time it will take. Rushing me will annoy me immensely as I am already going as fast as I can.

I suffer from two mental illnesses that severely affect my life. They can become very severe out of nowhere. This will delay your commission so I will tell you if it happens to crop up.

Shipping art will take considerably longer as I find it quite difficult especially if it is a ship like ‘Lapidot’ or along those lines.

Characters such as Jasper, Bismuth or Quartz Gems look very strange in my style unless they are drawn to be chubbier, softer or more gentle looking as my eye style is ‘cutesy’.

Please give me a picture reference, if you give me a written one do not moan at me for it being inaccurate.

You will get progress reports and updates. Please tell me of any inaccuracies. This is mainly for fully coloured pictures with backgrounds.

I will not refund you if you are not satisfied with the end product. I am sorry but if I spend 12+ hours on a fully coloured drawing whilst I’m at school and you just suddenly decide you do not like the end product despite getting updates and progress reports then I just see that as you trying to get a free drawing out of me. These take a long time and are very difficult if it is everything you can get and I do not have time to redo it. You had your chance when I gave you updates to tell me of inaccuracies.

I will not change your commission halfway through if you change your mind on what you want. For example I can show you a sketch and you can suddenly decide that is all you want. That is fine I will refund you your ‘change’. You cannot however have me fully colour a picture, sketching out a background for your let’s say Lapis and Amethyst at the beach but then decide you want me to draw you overwatch instead or you want to add 2 or three more characters. At the sketch stage you can only change your mind twice.

I will ask you permission before posting your finished piece to my blog.

Okay so in Heathers Lapis would be JD and Peridot would be Veronica. Peridot would like— more so lean into Veronica’s being nerdy and Lapis as JD would be like slightly less psychopathic and more of the depressed chill. Peridot joining the heathers would be like— the heathers would be Jasper, Yellow Pearl, and YD. Basically Lapis would have joined them but she hasn’t, so she’s also like some kind of loner. Not even gonna like Jasper could be Ram/Kurt too (and aquamarine would’ve been the other Heather) OR ram and Kurt could be aquamarine and topaz actually. Idk Steven would be Martha but like he’d be aged up to 16. YD would be Heather and they’d kill her first because Peri like disliked her first. Lapis put in drain cleaner though and like same thing that happened in the movie basically. The suicide note would pretty much be the same thing. Then she learns about Lapis’ trauma with Jasper, so they both decide to like play a prank on her like in the OG (it wouldn’t be homophobic tho) and Lapis again was the one who scaled it up to murder. Lapis and Peridot make out in that fuckin car. Lapis is the one who smokes though peri only does it because she thinks it makes her cool but she doesn’t rlly enjoy it. Another suicide note, Jasper’s ‘redemption’ would be in place of Dead Gay Sons. Like they’d feel bad for her and stuff. Okay but in this AU as I’ve changed a couple things..Lapis would not die. To line up with her leaving in SU she’d fail at exploding the school and like leave and peri doesn’t want her to leave (NOT THIS WAAAAAAAYYY) but then she like does but it’S okay because Peri makes up with Steven again.

To remain loyal to the OG movie/musical, what happens next is up to interpretation but I think that she’d come back eventually and they’d rebuild their relationship like in the show but 80% less platonic to line up with the AU XD

Okay so I only watched the first season and I watched like not the whole thing I watched like certain parts of certain episodes and I don’t know the characters *super* well but THATS OK because what would happen is they’d go there wanting a camp pining hearts sort of scenario and then get kicked out for having gem advantages :’) they’d be like a lost episode. During that lost episode though, before they got kicked they were like disguising as humans so they wore some swaggers outfits. One of the dudes probably flirted with lapis and she was like hell naw but he was like djduheydhey bbg and they like eliminated him together lol

Then they made out in the woods and then they probably got kicked💀😶👍

Vi and Caitlyn. Vi would be Lapis and Caitlyn would be peridot. Ofc, like any au it would be a little bit different, like their personalities. Like lapis as Vi would be less clingy and Peri as Caitlyn would be like more awkward and stuff- like their personalities would be a bit different but the roles fit!! And they end up together in the end and like it’s really sweet they’re both really good ships that fit with each other!

They could also just be two randos— like their own characters. Peridot would be from lily over and Lapis would’ve moved from somewhere else. Peridot would’ve been big on like tech and stuff and probably the kid of someone on the council or something. She has mixed feelings on hextech though. But yeah she’d have some sort of job in the tech industry. Lapis would be like that one girl that just moved there—she’d probably be an orphan. She met peridot when she tried to like steal from her and their interaction would be something like this

Peridot : Ru poor? U need help or smth? Internally: oh no she’s hot

Lapis : No.

Peridot : Yes u do admit that you poor and I’ll give you dis shit

So lapis distracts peridot steals a bunch of her shit and runs away. Peridot follows her and then she like drops her crap in the river and they both start swimming after it until jasper steals it (why is this becoming so weird) because jasper just happened to be in the water. Jaspers one of those gangsters that beats up kids and would probably steal— like those dudes who made powder drop all their cargo. And also attempts drown peridot.

Lapis knows she’ll starve to death and also has nowhere to sleep so she has no choice but to save peridot with her gay swimming skills and sleep in her apartment. Peridot is kinda annoyed but she still gives her food and lets her sleep on her couch. Long story short they become roomies eventually develop feelings for each other… and then they finally get together post timeskip and then during one of the big city wide massacres they’re forced to separate. Peridot loses her legs but jesus dupe viktor gives them back and takes her to his Jesus dupe viktor place (I forgot the name) Lapis comes back and saves her before like that thing where I think everyone died. Idk I only watched arcane once though it was like literally yesterday lol. I hope you’re satisfied with this story I’m tempted to write it now—should I?
