A.U.gust 2024

It's almost August again, so time for us to explore alternative universes and see all the other ways in which our boys could fall in love. 😊

For this year, each week will have a general theme, and anything that falls under that theme is allowed, as long as it's original. WIPs, updates or re-imaginings of your own previous works are also allowed (to use someone else's work as inspiration, please ask for their consent before starting).

As always, no sign-ups are needed for this event. Just make sure to mention me using @gallavichthings on the body of your post (you can hide it under a read-more or by using a reblog if you wish to). Posting here on Tumblr is mandatory, but you can host your work somewhere else and post only a link if you want to. There will, of course, be a collection on AO3 (to be announced later).

Some posting suggestions (nothing is mandatory, but it would be courteous):

Tags are to your own discretion, but I suggest tagging NSFW works or hiding them under read-mores (in case of visual posts - fics are normally not an issue).

If you post a long fic on Tumblr in its entirety, it's best to use a read-more in order not to make your post too long and take up a lot of space on people's dashboards and on the tags.

For posting multiple unrelated works on AO3, posting separate works and making them part of one series is better than making each work a chapter of one single fic. That way, you can tag it appropriately and people can more easily find the fic they actually want to read. (That doesn't apply, of course, if your fics are actually connected.)

And without further ado, the themes for each week (please note that a few examples were provided for each week, but they're just a small fraction of what can be done):

Week 1 (01/08-07/08): Seasons/ Holidays (Christmas AUs, summer vacations AUs, New Year's AUs, Halloweeen AUs...)

Week 2 (08/08-14/08): Past/Future (Pirate AUs, Cyberpunk AUs, 1950s AUs, Star Trek AUs...)

Week 3 (15/08-21/08): School/Work (High School AUs, College AUs, Office AUs, Coffee Shop AUs, Tattoo Shop AUs...)

Week 4 (22/08-28/08): Supernatural (Vampire AUs, A/B/O, Soulmate AUs, Superhero AUs...)

Week 5 (29/08-31/08): Free - since this is only half a week, these last three days will be for anything that does not fit any of the other weeks.

If you aren't able to finish your work in time to post it in the designated week, please wait to post it in the last three days. If your AU falls under more than one category, you may post in any week you prefer, according to what you judge to be the most relevant to your work.

some of my favorite Arcane fics/recommendations: a thread.

If you're lookin for some fics to get you through the wait until season 2 airs, i have some favorites/recommendations that I'd like to share. now, basically all of these are from ao3 (which is the superior sight i won't be taking criticism on this) and a good chunk of them are popular so you might have heard of them but if you haven't, check em out. (also if you'd like to reblog with fics i haven't mentioned/think i should check out pls do) also I'm going to give a brief synopsis and if it's complete or not so I'm not gonna be spoiling the whole fic. with that, let's begin.

Hellhound of the Underground: basically this is a "what if" fic if Silco were to choose Vi instead of Powder that night and Powder ends up with Viktor, Jayce and Caitlyn up in Piltover. It's SO good, the only thing is that it's pretty dark (but hey, so is Arcane) and don't worry there's plenty of Caitvi for the soul. Last update: 2/18/2024 (Author kerosene_dream)

Makeout Lessons with a Boxer: Caitvi but in college, everyone is horny, pining and usless lesbians abound. Fic Completed (Author p0etess)

You Don't Own Me: Caitlyn works 2 jobs as a bookshop worker and has a stripper alter ego and Vi is a boxer who doesn't like talking to/doesn’t trust Caitlyn but likes talking to/appears to trust her alter ego. Last Updated 08/30/23 (Author snootka)

In the end, we're both terrible people: Caitvi high school enemies to lovers. Cait is the popular, closeted, accidentally turned mean girl and Vi is the misfit, outcast, out of the closet lesbian. the two hate each other until they kiss in the locker room. fic completed (Author loveshazel)

Meetings are held in the OTW Discord server and last approximately an hour. The Board will address the agenda first, and once that business is concluded they will take at least ten questions. Questions that are not answered during the meeting will be combined and posted as weekly Q&A threads in the ⁠#questions-answers channel starting two weeks after the most recent public meeting.

For this meeting, there is the option to send in questions in advance through a Google Form. You'll need to be logged into a Google account in order to submit a question, and only one question per person will be accepted. Questions can be submitted up to three days before the meeting begins or until fifty questions have been submitted. At that point, the form will be closed.

Because procedures may continue to change, we recommend reading through the OTW Discord's Community Guidelines in the #rules channel to familiarize yourself with the details of how meetings will be run.

Hasta que termine 2023 las creaciones podrán seguir posteadas; una vez pasemos a 2024, se hará el conteo y se añadirá a la lista oficial.

Puedes encontrar la lista en texto bajo el cut, tanto en español como en inglés, y puedes encontrar la imagen en tamaño completo aquí. Podéis ser todavía participantes oficiales si nos mandáis un ask para que os apuntemos con vuestro respectivo tag. Una vez empiece el Codember, tendréis que esperar al conteo de final de año para que os añadamos. También contamos con separadores oficiales, que podéis encontrar aquí.

Thank you, to all who pitched! We received 17 wonderful pitches (writing, art, podcast, a bit of music), and now, we are all trembling in anticipation for claiming, beginning in less than a week!!!

There will be three rounds of claiming (I don't know what it is with UNIX timestamps and tumblr, but they don't like each other): -- Round 1: Feb 3rd, 11:59 UTC – Feb 4th, 11:59 UTC -- Round 2: Feb 7th, 11:59 UTC – Feb 8th, 11:59 UTC -- Round 3: Feb 10th, 11:59 UTC – Feb 11/12th, 11:59 UTC [there is a chance that this round will be extended to 48 hours if there are still many open pitches by then]

Each round, every claimer can express interest in up to 3 pitches, in descending priority.

Teams will not be created according to “first come, first serve” - so there's no need to rush filling out the form as long as your response arrives within the timeframe.

You will receive news on whether your claim was successful within 48-72 hours of each claim round's end.

Each round, you may change your claims ONCE, as long as the form is open.

Prince Harry 'set to head off on 'lads' holiday' to celebrate 40th birthday - with Meghan back at home and no sign of William', ten years after brothers partied together for his 30th

Prince Harry is set to head off on a holiday with his 'closest mates' to celebrate his 40th birthday while Meghan stays at home, it is understood. 

The Duke of Sussex will reportedly go on the getaway after a birthday party at his £11million California home in Montecito with his family. 

Harry will 'enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates', according to a report by The Sun. 

Meanwhile, Meghan will stay in California with the couple's two children, five-year-old Archie and Lilibet, three. 

It comes ten years after Harry celebrated his 30th birthday with his brother Prince William and Princess Catherine, alongside other friends in the UK. 

Friends of the Prince recently said he has grown increasingly unhappy with his life in the US. 

Speaking to The Times last month, a friend claimed they are among the few who get 'the odd WhatsApp from him', adding: 'He's an angry boy. Things haven't turned out how he wanted.' 

People within Harry's inner circle have claimed he seems to enjoy trips back to the UK alone, while his wife Meghan prefers not to enter the country. 

Harry revealed on Wednesday that his two children are the 'best gift' he has ever received ahead of his 40th birthday. 

Ahead of the milestone this Sunday, the Duke of Sussex emailed People magazine to reveal the joy he receives from his son and daughter. 

Harry wrote in the email: 'The best gift I've ever been given is, without a doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day, and I love being their dad.'

People - which is known to be close to the Sussexes - also reported that Harry was now 'focused on enjoying life' with his family 'after years of self-reflection'.

In addition, the publication cited his ongoing work through Archewell Foundation projects and the upcoming Netflix documentary Polo, due out in December.

Harry is set to kick off his birthday with Meghan, Archie and Lilibet in a low-key celebration at their mansion in Montecito.

People said this would be 'followed by a gathering with close friends internationally', while Hello! reported he would head on a 'weekend getaway' in the mountains with his closest friends.

Harry is also to set to embark on a packed solo trip to New York City later this month to 'advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives', his team said.

The visit is set to take place during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week on September 23 to 27 and Climate Week between September 22 and 29.
