📽 LAST NIGHT IN SOHO 📽 Blockbuster TobiView 🟣 Der neue Film von Regisseur Edgar Wright entführt uns ins heutige London – oder doch nicht? Hauptthematik ist die Zeit der Swinging Sixties und die dort vorherrschende Unterhaltungsbranche mit ihrer schillernden Oberflächlichkeit und den Schattenseiten hinter den Kulissen. ⚪ Der Film lässt sich in kein bestimmtes Genre einordnen, daher bezeichne ich den Genre-Mix mal als Horror-Thriller-Mystery-Drama in dem allen voran Thomasin McKenzie, aber auch Anya Taylor-Joy einen fantastischen Job machen. 🟢 Die Inszenierung lebt zum einen von ihrer Bildsprache, aber auch vom hervorragenden Sounddesign und der Musikauswahl. Obwohl im heutigen London verankert hilft die Musik (u. a. “Downtown“ von Petula Clark) sich in die entsprechende Epoche hineinzufinden. Die u. a. von Regisseur Edgar Wright mitentwickelte Story ist interessant, fesselnd und einnehmend. Es entsteht eine Art Sog, der einen ungefähr mit Beginn des zweiten Filmdrittels nicht mehr loslässt. 👗 Der große Traum berühmt zu werden und der damit verbundene Preis ist sinnbildlich, sowohl für die Zeit der Sixties als auch für die heutige “#metoo“-Thematik und wird in diesem Fall stilistisch sehr gut transportiert. Langeweile ist in diesem Film ein Fremdwort. Spätestens wenn die Grundzüge der wichtigsten Charaktere eingeführt sind und der erste (Traum-)Trip in die Vergangenheit erahnen lässt, wohin die Reise geht, hat der Film einen gepackt. 🟡 Lediglich der Twist zum Ende hin, den ich leider recht früher vorhersehen konnte, und das etwas deplatziert wirkende Ende selbst verhindern bei mir eine höhere Wertung. Mein Fazit: LAST NIGHT IN SOHO ist inszenatorisch und erzählerisch eine Wucht und hat mir richtig gut gefallen. Spoils of War, Play It By Fear Edition Pt 2: This deserves its own post for sure. When @edgarwright announced the first edition for @lastnightinsohomovie being a UK exclusive, I sure as Hell wasn't about to have that stop me from owning it. Luckily my bro @music33man from @playitbyfear33 did his magic and somehow got me a copy. Very fuckin excited to finally own this movie and also this version. The box slip is gorgeous and my favorite art from the film. Also like how the inside cover is reversible to the original art. The post cards of the main 4 characters are awesome too.
