This is Jasper Equinox from the Stone Dragon series. It's one of the more recent ones, made in 2018, and featuring a splurge of 3D embellishments.

I wanted to pick up more than just red jasper, as between the 10-years-older Jasper Storm and this one, I learned a lot about different varieties of jasper (by virtue of one of the local rock shows) - particularly the fact that jasper comes in every color and pattern imaginable. So I've picked up green, gold, and blue to go along with the red. I really ended up liking this color palette in the end.

The dragon is ink and Prismacolor pencil over watercolor. I think there's some gel pen detailing in there as well.

The background has red creek jasper (the round stone in front of the dragon's face), some marbled-looking jasper whose trade name I've never learned (the hexagonal stones), golden sheen obsidian (the dark round stones that look kind of greenish here). There's also some small bloodstone jaspers scattered around. Also making an appearance are the ubiquitous shiny bits, swirly stickers, metallic bibbles, all over several different kinds of scrapbook paper.

I'm proud of this one. I sold it at its first showing, so that tells me I need to do more along these lines, and probably with this color scheme.

This is one of my layered pieces, Autumn Spontaneity, from 2016. The isolated dragon image is below the text block.

I created this project partly as an experiment with the layering process, and partly as my half of a 4-part trade with a DeviantArt friend.

This piece was designed to work in a shadowbox, so there's about a quarter of an inch between layers.

The outermost layer is acrylic paint and has assorted acrylic shiny bits.

The middle layer is acrylic paint with metal and acrylic 3D bits.

The dragon is Prismacolor pencil and gold paint pen over watercolor.

The background behind the dragon is a watercolor wash. There are metal stickers and other fancy stickers (leaf shapes). There are lots of acrylic shiny bits. There are tiger eye cabochons, red sardonyx cabs, and I think some goldstone cabs also. Among the dragon's coil, that light-colored central stone is called wild horse agate.
