Ludum Dare 54

Gunna try and do Ludum Dare 54 this weekend! it's been too long since I've done of these so it's about time I give it another go! I'll be trying to make a whole dang video game from scratch, in GameMaker, in one weekend. Streamed live.

Will be live over on YouTube and at Twitch for pretty much the whole weekend except when I'm asleep. I'll be probably doing the 72h JAM version, as I'm visiting friends for a few hours around where the 48h deadline would be. But generally I'll probably be sticking to the spirit of compo version as that's just What I'm Like.

My game I made in 48 hours came 2nd in Ludum Dare 54!

Ludum Dare 54 is a massive worldwide game development event, and my game, Less is Moore, came 2nd out of over 500 submissions in the most competitive bracket! I made a video about it! I'm a very small creator, so if you'd watch it, that would be great! ❤️❤️❤️

My friends & I made a game in less than 72 hours for Ludum Dare 54 ^_^ The theme was "Limited Space". We took it quite literally and basically did Overcooked in space, with limited space, and limited time.

Ludum Dare 54 Part 0 - The Calm Before the Storm

Made an empty GameMaker project, a sheet in Paint.NET ready for sprites and I'm ready with my sample packs. Think I'm gonna play with FL Studio Mobile a little more for this jam.

Maybe going for something a little more story focused this time? Gonna depend on the theme, of course.

Check out my new game for Ludum Dare 54: "Hazel & Hector"!

It is a fairly short and not too challenging puzzle game. I'm proud of the amount of graphical polish I was able to put in.

did not make much progress on the 'actual' ld54 game (just concept).

however i did entirely implement a completely different puzzle game concept inside of Baba is You, which will likely be titled "Hamiltonian" (inspired by the Land of Eternal Motion achievement; the theme is something like a deliberate collapse or cave-in)

LD54 - EXTRA?

OK so full confession, I haven't been doing well lately and LD seems overly stressful on top of some other things going on in my life right now. I might pick this up again next weekend, finish it and submit it for extra.

EDIT: A key take away for when I made SQUIK, was that taking my time and prioritizing self-care and only working on the game when I could, made it like 100000 times better than I had anticipated. After doing like, 5 in quick succession, I don't think it's a bad idea to take it easy on this one.

EDIT 2: Might find another jam for this one, finish it another time. Being totally honest, expecting something like an LD entry in that time with how I felt later last month and at the start of this one wasn't reasonable and I didn't want to force something that I wasn't going to like working on or playing in the end.

I lost my mom last year and it still hurts. It's nice to have a creative outlet but it's important to know your limits and to not hurt yourself and burn out. I'm going to work on something with a bit more of a deliberate pace for a bit. Just embrace the process at a speed I can handle right now.

Jams ain't going anywhere, I can catch up later.
