Finally! My first finished piece in almost a month and a half! Seasonal depression has been kicking my butt, but I'm insanely happy with how this turned out!

I think part of my problem has been trying to force myself to draw stuff that I think my fans expect and want. I want to finish my time travel comic, but I don't know if I'll be able to anytime soon. As such, I've decided to transfer to writing. I'll post a link to it when I post the first chapter, and once I find motivation to continue the comic I'll do so. It's not that I'm not interested in Mario anymore, it's just a matter of hyperfixations changing. Now and again I'll post Mario stuff; it'll always be an important part of my life. It just won't be the main focus. I'm finding my motivation in other things rn, like Fnaf. And that may change, phases come and go. I'm slowly coming to accept, however, that I produce the best art when I'm happy and excited about the subject. Forcing myself to draw certain things because I want to make others happy is a big part of why my motivation is lacking.

In other words, I'm still gonna post Mario stuff every now and then, but I'm gonna be exploring my other interests. I hope everyone understands, and I love you guys so much!

The biggest hurdle when attemoting to bring Solarpunk into my world is winter. Ive gone off before about it but I wanna focus on fixing it. So its kinda to anyone who wants to add anything but here are my dreams of a Solarpunk winter add your own!

Schools/Work starting 2 hours after sunrise- i think our relation to work will be utterly different in this kind of system, but ideally id like things like stores and schools to start after 2 hours of sunlight to let ppl relax and have a chance to see sunlight in such dark days.

Socal spaces- Saunas, bath houses, bondfires Libraries, worker spaces, craft spaces, etc.. all filled with people relaxing and working together. Communical kitchens with grocery distribution for their neighborhood. Things like baked goods, jammed/canned items, etc... being done locally could also be an activity for everyone to hang out! Nectar gardens and green houses with parks built inside them.

Winter work ideas- Textiles- a focus on things like quilts, knitting, leather work, dying cloth, etc.. Art/Performances- A focus on art, theare, movies, community murals, pottery, etc..

Anyone else with their own ideas?

Bit of a hot take here but I actually really like the way sexism is written in Dracula.

In modern stories that try to handle sexism (especially period-accurate sexism) by making all of the male characters absolute douchebags who just hate women because they hate women, instead of portraying them as products of a patriarchal system, and it just feels really inaccurate as well as biologically essentialist.

But in Dracula, even though there's a level of sexism present in every character, they all still feel like real people? Like you can really tell the sexism is systemic instead of individualistic and I think framing it that way is a lot more accurate and optimistic.

I saw someone joking about how Mina sounds like someone who thinks they can't count as feminist because they love their boyfriend, and I know it was in jest but I think that's actually a really apt metaphor.

I read Dracula when I was fifteen and it became such an important book to me, because at the time I really felt like I had to choose between thinking all men are trash by default or else sexism wasn't real, and reading Dracula really helped me reframe my thinking in a way that was a lot healthier!

I know it can be frustrating to read, but I'll always admire authors who are bold enough to give relatable characters flaws like that, and as someone who's read Dracula I can assure you that the men are intended to be wrong for side-lining Mina, and that they grow from those mistakes

Media can be improved by giving any two characters a Dynamic. Not romantic nor potentially romantic, just give a unique flavour every pair of characters who commonly interact. There should be no generic superior-subordinate or peers out there. If you have two characters exchanging dialogue based on just their official ranking then you could insert any two faceless nobodies and your story would be the same. Put some seasonings on. If two people are on friendly terms then there should be some defining incident that bonded them together. If they’re working together than there should be some major decision that either put them on edge around each other or made them commit to each other.

Honestly, seeing how I didn't tune into AEW Dynamite tonight simply because I forgot it was on a Tuesday this week... I think I might've dodged a bullet tonight. Scrolling through tumblr posts, I've caught up on everything about the whole antisemitic bit with MJF and Juice...

Yeah. Seeing how Max revealed his religion literally the day before this and the whole row of quarters thing... yeah. "Going too far" isn't even properly describing just how bad that was.

I don't even wanna hear whether Max agreed to the bit or not. Even then, it's still horrible.

This might've gotten a pass back in the late 90's/early 2000s (though it's still incredibly distasteful and I'm in no way defending all that). But it's not the 2000's anymore. It's 2023. Do we seriously need to bring back antisemitism into wrestling, whether it's gimmicks, storylines, angles, promos, what the fuck have you?

The answer to that is obviously no. And anyone who actually tries to defend this? Well, I'll have a fun time playing with the block button. 🚫
