So, I just found out that Legosi and Agent Stone share a voicecover actor in Latin Spanish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His name is Carlo Vazquez! He has many other excellent dubbing works
Oh, and also, Goku and Robotnik (Most of Jim Carrey's characters, actually) also have the same voicecover actor!
His name is Mario Castañeda, and he is one of the best known actors in the world of dubbing

Legosi mother is such a great character. a beautiful wolf who appeared pure blooded despite her father being a komodo dragon. her father was never officially recognised as her father due to the strange and taboo nature of him being reptilian and her mother being a wolf. she grew up passing as a regular grey wolf before scales grew across her back. before she could be covered completely she has sex with a random grey wolf she found in hopes her child could be a "normal" kid and live a normal life. she hides herself away in a room, terrified of leaving due to the way she looks. part wolf, part reptile. due to this, her son, Legosi is taken care of by his grandfather, her father. the only contact she'd ever have with her son is through a hole in her bedroom door where she would feel his fur for scales. she commited suicide in his teen years after being certain he would never grow any. leaving her room for the first and last time, she hugs Legosi as he sleeps before she died :(

I remember a au on tumblr, where Leano tried to rid of her scales by a doctor, living with Legosi near of the black market for that. And she dies. Baby Legosi, traumatised is found by Gouhin who decide to raise him. And i wonder, do you think that Legosi would have been more adjusted more happy if raised by Gouhin? Would he have had less self-hate?
I think Legoshi would have been more realistic about himself, and what he needs as a carnivore.
— Psychic
Tumblr media
sourcing legoshi’s self-hate
In my head, Legoshi’s self-loathing comes from two sources: 1) society and 2) Gosha's ‘pacificism’.
Beastkind society pushes the idea that all carnivores are inherently dangerous, and are instinct-driven beasts. It also pushes the idea that carnivores taking pride in their non-herbivorous traits (strength, claws, teeth) are bad. Carnivores are only good when in service to herbivores, when they work to maintain society's status quo. These harmful messages are spread by societal institutions, most popularly schools. When societal narms and values are spread through social institutions (think schools, churches, etc.), it is known as secondary socialisation.
Secondary socialisation trasmits society’s values, but society is only the latter part of the socialisation process.
The family is far more formative in transferring social values. When families instill norms and values into their children, it's known as primary socialisation.
All of this is to say: society transmits its values the easiest when those values have been built up by the family.
Tumblr media
gosha's passivity
Gosha's ‘pacificism’ (or passivity, as I find to be more accurate) shaped Legoshi’s worldview more thann society. Society still played a role, mind you, but Gosha's values undoubtedly had a large impact.
I want to pay special attention to Gosha's species for a moment.
He’s a Komodo dragon; a type of venomous monitor lizard. Due to his venom, he is ostracised from society. Those who are familiar with any form of racism (be it against black folk, or another minority) can draw parallels between that and Gosha being forced to sit at the back of restaurants, and being threatened the one time he does sit out in the open at a restaurant. It's all very clearly discrimination.
But, Gosha doesn't really try to fight the status quo. And by “fight" I don't mean that he should be aggressive or anything like that — what I mean is that he doesn't try to fight the messages that his passivity sent to Legoshi. Something as simple as a “Legoshi, it isn't right how I am being treated” would have been enough.
By not voicing discontent with his status quo, Gosha sent the message that “it’s all right for venomous animals to be treated differently”. Given that Gosha is naturally cautious about his venom (as he really should be — we've seen what it is capable of), it provides a ‘justification’.
So the message then becomes “it's all right for venomous animals to be treated differently, because their venom sometimes hurts others”.
Adding on society’s message that carnivores are inherently dangerous nets you: “It's all right for carnivores to be treated differently because they sometimes hurt others”.
It is a sensible message when taken on its face.
In a world where your tiger friend is (purported to be) just as likely to maul you as the predator that killed someone on the news, it makes sense to be wary of all carnivores as a result. Self-preservation trumps all.
The problems start when that message is taken to its logical extreme.
That is to say: if one (1) carnivore has the potential to be dangerous, all carnivores are dangerous solely because they have the potential to be.
Tumblr media
leano + the black market
I feel like this AU would only work if Gosha was out of the picture or if Leano was so certain that the Black Market descaling treatment would work that she would took her son.
I lean towards the second scenario even though I would personally find it weird that Leano wouldn't sneak off by herself to do any experimental treatment. If she hates being looked at by everyone to the point where even her own son knows that (and it's why he didn't turn around to face her even when she hugged him for the first time in a long time) ... I feel like there'd need to be a reason.
So, let's just say that she still wanted to have her son close to her and/or she was so confident that the Black Market treatment would work.
Tumblr media
gouhin + raising legoshi
I personally cannot see Gouhin as the type to raise anyone. I feel like 'mentor' is a better term to use — he’ll give Legoshi the tools and knowledge necessary to keep himself alive, and he’ll give the kid a safe place to stay, and as much as an education as possible, but that's it.
I’m certain Gouhin has a soft spot for children (he raised one, after all), but I think he wouldn't want any child around his place of work. Especially considering that he works with carnivores who would otherwise be arrested for predation.
I can see Gouhin making arrangements for Legoshi to be looked after by someone he knows — it would be part of an attempt to give Legoshi as normal a life as possible.
Still, thanks to Gouhin, Legoshi learns more about carnivore physiology and psychology than he would have otherwise. Yet ... I don't believe that Gouhin would have dispelled much of the rumours around meat and meat consumption.
Maybe Legoshi’s innocent questions (“How come more carnivores in the Black Market don't go feral, even though they're always around meat?”) inspire Gouhin to rethink some of his methods and beliefs.
Legoshi’s curiosity would incite him to harass Gouhin for answers that the poor man, quite frankly, doesn't have.
Tumblr media
No matter what happens though, Legoshi would have ready access to tools and materials that differ from that of mainstream society. Still, it would be up to Legoshi to use them effectively. Giving someone a map doesn't mean that they’ll use it.
And really, it could go either way — with Legoshi fully embracing mainstream medicine as it relates to feral carnivores.
But personally? I'd like it better if Legoshi realises that not everything written in the books are true. Maybe he could start a little observation diary. It's not as hands-on as Gouhin, but it's a way for Legoshi to organise his thoughts and ideas for carnivore rehabilitation.
gosha as an antagonistic force
While living with Gouhin, Legoshi learns the exact opposite of Gosha’s belief system — that being a carnivore doesn't mean that he deserves to be ill-treated.
Given that Legoshi was probably taken by his mother to the Black Market w/o Gosha's approval and/or consent ... I think it'd be interesting if Gosha was the antagonist.
I don't mean villain. I mean ‘antagonist’: someone who opposes the protagonist (Legoshi, in this case).
The antagonism here could stem from a difference between Gosha's belief system, and Legoshi’s own.
Remember: Legoshi is all Gosha has to remember his daughter by. A daughter who so hated the scales she inherited from him that she was willing to risk death just for the smallest chance of them being removed.
For Gosha to discover that his meek grandchild shares a belief system that is completely opposite to his own ... it'd be like a punch to the gut. A final and utter rejection, in a way.
And, here ends my rambling.

You know what grinds my gears?
The way Legosi and Gosha just gloss over the shit Yahya does. The murders?
Never even mention to grandpa his old friend is a fucking psycho.
And we only get 2.5 seconds of Gosha being upset this motherfucker nearly got his only living family killed.
Didn’t even talk about the teeth. Matter of fact, fuck that horse, I’m gonna write a revenge fic where this asshole gets his shit rocked because I hate when characters get away with shit they should have paid for! looking at you too, Louis. Nice Ask Week! Quinn, I have 2 questions for you. First, you’re only allowed to listen to 5 songs for an entire year. Which songs would you choose?
Second, you can pick one storyline to be included in Lone Star season 5…what is it?
Oh no, my weakness, music! I actually gave up on keeping up with music when it all switched to streaming and I couldn't organise my own collection anymore. I mostly listen to curated music lists on youtube now. 🥲
If forced though, it'd probably be the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Heads Will Roll, Jack Off Jill's My Cat, Rilo Kelley's A Better Son/Daughter, Ramshackle Glory's Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist and Bauhaus's Bela Legosi's Dead.
And ooooh, I would love a Nancy focused story, fill out her character! Maybe she has to go back home to deal with family issues and it can include flashbacks, Mateo can tag along if he behaves. 😅
Thank you for the nice ask! ❤️🦎

leano and legosi’s relationship will never fail to make me hurt. leano loved her son so much but was trapped within her own self-loathing, and legosi lived for a command that he still abides by to this day — “if you tell a canine to wait they will wait until they die”.
they’re the same, really: leano never got to experience her life to the fullest because she was scared of what society would think of her, legosi lived scared to exist at all because he believed that he was what society said he was. both of them, too afraid to do what they really wanted:
to open that door. to turn around.

Meet the students of room 216 in the male herbivore dorm.
Lee the Wolf-Rabbit - The hybrid son of Legosi and Haru. Despite his wolf genes, he is legally classified as an herbivore due to his lack of fangs. He is on the acting team of the Drama Club.
Albert the Zebra - He is very unfriendly towards Lee for his hybrid blood. He believes hybrids are dangerous. He's one of the best runners on the track team.
Eli the Chicken - The half-American son of Legom. He was born in California but moved to Japan with his mother after a family tragedy. He's also a huge stoner. Don't tell mom. He is a guitarist for the Music Club.
Oscar the Harlequin Rabbit - Mizuchi's son. An amiable and kind-hearted person. Although he, unfortunately, is often too hard on himself. He has a role as an interviewer for the school paper.
Theo the Angora Goat - A meek and nervous young man. He's very tech-savvy and wants a career in IT. He is the sound technician for the Drama Club.
Stanley the Anteater - Often cold and distant, but has a brilliant creative mind. The art of film and theater means everything to him. He is the Drama Club's director.

¿No?

Songs from my playlist that remind me of Beastars characters: Louis
This is just gonna be a small series of posts making connections to songs I like and characters from Beastars because these mfs live in my head rent free. These might not be the most accurate but this is just for fun.
Song: The Family Jewels - MARINA Character: Louis
!!SPOILERS ALL THE WAY TO CHAPTER 196 AHEAD!!
Now this song is about Marina’s relationship with her divorced parents. I think this song makes a lot of sense for Louis since a lot the series is focused on his strained relationship with his father. Marina is singing about her feeling of disconnect from her parents and feeling the need to play a role in front of others to keep their clean family image. Almost entirely of Louis’s character is him playing different roles throughout his life, both literally and metaphorically.
With the opening lyric “I can’t break the cycle, am I just a fool?” you can relate it with the fact that Louis feels like he’s one of the people who are capable changing their society’s rules. He’s taking a different approach to this than Legosi. Louis uses his political influence while Legosi uses his natural strength. Systemic change is very slow and takes a lot of effort. There’s always going to be people that oppose you and that makes it easy to lose hope. Louis goes through the constant battle of choosing between what looks good for him and what he actually wants. Oguma frequently pushes back on Louis’s efforts in order to craft Louis into a person fit to be the CEO of Horns. This lyric connects back to Louis during the ending of the series where he cuts contact with everybody and still chooses to stay as CEO in a loveless-arranged marriage(I’m trying so hard to make sense of this ending lmao). He even says “But this is not a movie. You can’t have everything.” He feels like the only way to shape society in his vision is to comply with what is expected of him for the time being. Thus making him feel like his efforts to break this “cycle” were in vain. Even if he says he already changed the world, I feel like he doesn’t actually mean that.
I do think the connection between the song and Louis kinda falls apart with the lyric “Don’t you find it strange? Only thing we share is one last name” since Louis is adopted so him and Oguma don’t exactly share names, but you can then relate that to the only thing Louis and Oguma have in common is their species. Oguma only adopted Louis because he wanted another red deer he could pass off as his biological son. He only raised Louis for the purpose of inheriting Horns and keep the bloodline going, not with the purpose of creating a bond with him. Louis grows resentment for his father as he grows older because he’s realizing that fact more and more. Which is why Louis feels a disconnect from his father for most the series. It’s only until Louis is at the side of Oguma’s hospital bed when he realizes that his father just never really knew how to show his love.
“Did I beat you at your own game? Typical of me to put us all to shame” I can see this as Louis frequently doing things that could stain his reputation as future CEO from the public view. He tries to hide his true thoughts in the beginning but only grows more confident as the series continues; like at first hiding his injury when rehearsing so he doesn’t show weakness to leaving everybody to join the Shishigumi to asking Legosi to eat his foot(the symbol for all the emotional damage he’s been carrying) and ect. It almost looks like he attracts trouble. His scandals grow and Oguma pushes him to go to University and form a bond with Azuki because it’s what he set for Louis. It would be shameful if the CEO’s past, from his roots in the black market to what he did for Legosi, was revealed to the public when he’s supposed to be one of the products of perfection, a wealthy family, a high education, high status, powerful marriage, ect.
“Family said that I decided to live a loveless life. Is it my fault we stay divided?” Louis doesn’t have any blood related family but you could say he’s made his own family by the end (family that he ends up forgetting about in the end for no good reason but whatever) and we don’t get much of their personal opinions but I interpret his final train ride with Juno as her knowing this will be their last time seeing each other because Louis will have to focus on bigger things. Juno sees that Louis’s new life is completely different to the one she’s seen in the past and lets him feel something that she knows he’ll never get to experience again, a kiss with fangs. I’d imagine she knows that Louis decided to take a path he doesn’t agree with but reluctantly chose anyways; but you can say it’s not entirely his fault. People like Haru, Juno, and Legosi aren’t tied down to status or the future of a corporation so they can choose how to move forward with their lives; but Louis doesn’t get the same amount autonomy and is bound to this life he can’t negotiate his way out of. Which is showing how divided they truly are based on class and species.
“Simmerin’ sapphire can’t keep his cool” Louis has worked his entire life to move higher on the social latter even though he gets frustrated with a lot of it. When you feel like you’re living a lie you naturally start to rebel little by little. This dilemma of choosing what he wants for himself vs what is expected of him has been simmering for years. Louis was crafted to be a perfect jewel yet he doesn’t always comply with it out of spite. He forms a friends with benefits relationship with a rabbit even though he’s already engaged, starts running with the Shishigumi, gives up his foot to help aid a vigiliante, and further associates himself with said vigilante. Louis’s final act of retaliation with this life is when he talks about the most taboo topic on live TV: the Black Market. This is the moment when this sapphire finally loses his composure.
And lastly for the lyric I think fits the best with Louis “Coal to diamond, sold to fools”. Louis started out at the bottom of society; as livestock only raised to be eaten. He was saved by Oguma who bought him and promised him a privileged life and a privileged future. Louis’s whole life is supposed to be preparation for him to take over Oguma’s legacy; from the minute he was bought to present day. Louis’s whole character was put under pressure for this, to shape him into the perfect CEO, much like with a piece of coal. Coal has to be put under intense pressure to become the beautiful jewel everybody covets. And nobody in the public eye that Louis is trying to lead knows the full extent of all the struggles he had to go through to get to his position. All they see is the new, shiny CEO of Horns who has it all. Louis knows this and makes sure he’s displaying this image to society, and they just eat it up. Even though barely anyone knows, Louis started all the way from the very bottom to the top of the social hierarchy, he’s had to mold and polish coal into diamond for his whole life. He sells a facade to a society of “fools”

Those are some of my interpretations of Louis’s character, this was kinda longer than expected but I hope this was worth a quick read

Beastars, 19.
+
Tumblr media
- Beastars, vol. 19. Paru Itagaki.
C. 161
- The ideological clash between Kyuu and Legosi: The first tries to assault and provoke him to make him react, but the second is only interested in his ideas about fragility.
162
- The origin of Melon, his story with his mother. At first glance it is an horrific tale straight out of a slasher or a serial killer thriller. But certain details suggest Melon’s narration is not entirely accurate. For example, the fact that his mother does not react at all when he attacks her. As Melon himself describes it, it is dreamlike at times. Or nightmare-like.
163
- Indeed, Agata wonders if Melo’s story was real or invented.
- Next we’re shown Agata’s origin, wherein it becomes clear that his entire life he’s been lead by what others expect of him, even if he himself doesn’t believe in it. Be it because of his species, his fur color, or his position in a hierarchy.
- Even at the end he ends up doing as ordered by what is almost a revenant, a zombie: Dolph, back from the dead seemingly and urging Melon to attack him with a hacksaw or a chainsaw. “I can take it!” he claims.
164
- Yafya and Gosha: A meeting between old friends, close to a reconciliation. But old friends involved in very dangerous things, from Melon to poison that bleed clean through four stories.
165
- Death of Oguma, who in the end was an extremely pitiful man. His every relationship was determined by how much money were they worth, and he never held his adoptive son until the very last moment.
166
- More world-building: This herbivore festival. But under Louis and Haru’s skeptical gaze, there is little spirituality and a lot of commercialism here. It’s attended due to social custom and family traditions.
- It’s also a meeting between Louis and Haru, each carrying their own obsessions and traumas.
167
- A transitional chapter: From Louis and Haru reconnecting to the strange competition between Melon and Legosi.
168
- A bizarre duel that parodies Japanese game shows. But it also illustrates the difference between these two: Melon has hard data, but Legosi better understands the ways in which different species may relate to each other.
169
- Finally, we see the deep resentment Kyuu houses. She can’t stand not being Gouhin’s only disciple and then tries to attack a stranger based solely on a wound he has that she takes a sign of sexual conquest.
