The Seven Vs. D&D

Back on the Seven being actual friends and hanging out with each other in between life threatening adventures: they would play Dunegons & Dragons.

Once again, my lovely roommate (@gargoyl3city) and I were having a stupid conversation about how Percy Jackson would be tiktok famous and also would in fact be That FriendTM in the group chat of kids he goes to high school with. (That’s an entirely different conversation and just lmk if you want a post about that one, but I digress). In the middle of all of this, we were talking about how sometime during their journey on the Argo II, they definitely would’ve gotten into D&D.

It was funny to think about what all of them would pick as classes, and how Percy would absolutely dump stat his character as -1 Intelligence and then like +5 Charisma. I think Hazel would be really confused at the rules, but would end up being the one most invested in role play, besides Annabeth, of course. Annabeth—we couldn’t decide if she would be a Wizard (for obvious reasons), or if she would choose violence and be a Barbarian or Paladin main. I also see Jason as a strong Paladin, and he would try to take his character a little too seriously, and Percy would try to start fights with him endlessly, so much that the DM would have him roll disadvantage every time he asked to “roll to hit Jason in his neutral good ass face”.

Speaking of Dungeon Master’s, I thought initially that Frank would be the DM, the only one who isn’t riddled with ADHD and would have the attention span for session plans, but no, my roommate argued, Leo would be the Game Master. Yes, I was absolutely blind for not considering this first. And yes, Leo is the only option as a DM when you really think about it.

He would be an absolute menace as a DM. He would roll up every session with no plan, a single sheet of paper in front of him, half a bottle of Gatorade, and a desire to ruin everyone’s lives. Leo would start each session by asking everyone if they remembered what happened last session, not because he is planning on giving a recap, but because he does not remember what happened. Despite his disorganization, he would pull battle plans out of his ass, traumatize every character, and whip out super specific character arcs that would leave half of the party in tears by the end of his monologue.

Also, because of how much of a gremlin he is, Annabeth, the most curious of the players, would consistently try to look at Leo’s session plan. Of course, it must be written on that one sheet of paper he brings with him every session. It’s the same sheet of paper, a little crumbled and stained with chip crumbs, but it must hold secrets to the entire Universe for Leo to be able to come up with such heart wrenching plot lines.

It would go something like:

Annabeth: what do you possibly have written down on that paper, Leo????

Leo, who has a single sheet of paper in front of him that says ‘fuck bitches, get money’ with a shitty drawing of Percy on it: uhh

Leo, flipping the paper over: sorry, DM secrets

I fully believe that if Nico played he would be a Rogue main, and he would have the worst luck when rolling, so his Tough Guy Rogue Act would immediately be foiled by a Nat 1 on stealth. Also, Frank would be a Druid.

I’m reading The Lost Hero for the first time and someone please tell me why everyone hates Jason Grace??

This boy is so wholesome. All he does is try his best with about 3kb’s of memory, constantly tell Leo and Piper how great they are, and stand up for people being bullied.

Get you a bestie like Jason tbh. He’s very sweet.

One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.

When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.

It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.

To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

i think a lot about how Leo didn't use his cabin on the Argo II, and instead just always slept in the engine room or on deck (or let's be real, probably in the walls once or twice). And how Nico and Reyna never even got cabins on the Argo II, since they were unexpected passengers and so probably had to just sleep in the sickbay (if they slept at all, which they probably insisted they didn't need to - or fell asleep in odd spots around the ship) and so were forced to be roommates for a little bit before their quest, or shared a room with someone else on the ship.

I think Mutant Mayhem is the first tmnt propriety to make Leo my favorite turtle right off the bat.

Not that I don’t like Leo anywhere else, but usually it takes me like a second rewatch or something to really pick apart Leo’s character in full to appreciate him- and even then he’s usually not my favorite.

But MM Leo is my favorite for reasons I cannot identify.

Maybe it’s the way he walks, his cringe fail personality, I don’t know but I care about this loser so much.

Idk he cares so much abt his siblings despite the fact that they can be so mean to him sometimes. He is also the one who continually pushes to do the right thing when theres nothing (or even sometimes worst things) to gain from it.

Even his attempts at being cool come off as dorkish but it’s charming in a way only little kids can be. In a ‘you’re doing your best sweetie’. Leo is a single mother of three while also being a teenage boy, that takes work.

He’s such a silent but calculating character, ironically when he doesn’t try so hard and does what he feels is right he gets the best results (ie his leader speech, the plan to be accepted, gaining the acceptance of other mutants) for all his fumbling and try hard attitude he has such natural potential it’s insane.

Thoughts about dramatrio as a forever viewer (and occasionally bad and baghera viewer)

From q!forever's perspective, you can see how the dramatrio was always a duo and not a trio. qbad and qbaghera do not trust forever, and if they do, they don't trust him enough for their secrets.

- They never supported qforever during his presidency (qbad did vote for him, tho). qbad always complained about everything forever did, even tho qforever always tried to listen to him and everyone else.

- qbaghera did not told him the secret about her childhood, but she told qbad. Just like bad didn't tell qforever about the fed worker he kidnapped but he told qbaghera.

- "Oh but qforever took his waystone first" he did that because he asked for an item and no one helped him, so he got tired of helping people but no one helping him

- Also, qbaghera is dapper's mom, and qbad is pomme's dad. qforever was never included in this conversation.

- They say forever will get easily manipulated by the federation because he's the president, but yesterday both bad and baghera said they don't think cucurucho is bad

- They both banned forever from their houses

Anyway, they like to have forever around for the fun part of it, to joke and all but when stuff get serious they don't tell him anything and keep talking about him behind his back. And the only people that actually trust qforever is the favelafive

me thinking about the moment in the movie where leo is fighting krangified raph and he is feeling so much pressure and so much stress and guilt and he is so so scared for his family and for raph especially because he just wants to get raph out safely, he just wants his brother with him and their family unharmed and in one piece, but he can’t get through why won’t raph HEAR him why isn’t raph LISTENING he just wants to SAVE HIM why is he making things SO HARD--

and that is the moment where it finally fully clicks for leo, after all this, where raph was coming from at the start of the movie. that it wasn’t about being stubborn or wanting to call all the shots and be the boss, it wasn’t pettiness or raph being hard on them for no reason. it was always just raph wanting them to be safe, and getting scared and frustrated when doing that was difficult. or when, perhaps, certain stinker lil brothers seemed to be going out of their way to make it difficult.

like he really has that hard stop moment of realization while he’s looking directly at raph... at his own reflection u could say... love that

I have this very intense and specific headcanon that Leo talks really slowly instead of super fast, like he’s portrayed and generally thought to speak like. I think he doesn’t have a lot of experience talking to people, and his mind runs like x10 faster than his mouth so he speaks with so many pauses and a lot of ‘um’s and ‘like’s. It’s equally as incomprehensible, but also leaves the comedic room for people to not only wonder if he’s insane from the content of his words but also if he’s just extremely high. Like, he takes five minute pauses in between thoughts and scares the shit out of Percy, who just wanted to know how the pipes worked in case he wanted to water bend during an on deck fight.

Percy: what the fuck

He also forgets half the things he’s saying and remembers hours later and starts the conversation again, completely unprompted to the point that if he doesn’t get to it in the moment, the seven individually just sorta hang around him after an extended period of time to see if he’s going to finish what he was saying from the reminder that is seeing their face. The ADHD in him really shines in mid-fight conversation, especially when he’s seeing some of them for the first time that day during an attack.

Leo, randomly during an attack: HEY HAZEL!

Hazel, fending off a monster, worried he needs cover: WHAT?!??

Leo: MY FAVORITE CAKE FLAVOR IS FUNFETTI!!

Hazel, not knowing what the fuck that is: WHAT????

Anyways, I think the seven should’ve had more friendship qualities after living and fighting together, and I think they’d all form some sort of internal translator to understand the bullshit that comes out of Leo’s mouth. Thank you for coming to my Teddy Talky.
