I do have some recommendation lists in my fic rec tag, and I absolutely still stand by those. But! Here are some more recent fics, in no particular order, that I've enjoyed (and may or may not have speed-read in the last week since receiving this ask, I swear I wasn't ignoring you, I was just conducting important research lol). It starts slowly, of course. Grantaire already pays too much attention to Enjolras, so it’s easy to spot the white petals, no matter how hard he tries to hide it. Enjolras seems to grow angrier and angrier when the coughing starts interrupting his speeches, so much that Combeferre has to take over after pushing a glass of water towards him, and he casts the flowers to the ground, glaring at them.

So when he answers a knock on his door a week later to find a breathless Enjolras, who immediately pushes his way into Grantaire’s apartment and says, “I think we should have sex again,” he’s more than a little taken aback.

- trigger warnings bc it's not on ao3 so doesn't have tags: murder, gun and knife violence, bombs, conversations about the deaths of children. this is not healthy relationship fluff but it makes for a 🥵 dynamic that's for damn sure.

yes it's the top fic yes everyone probably knows it but it's good for a reason. THE fake dating high school au fic that I broke all my rules for back in 2015. I refused to read unfinished fics, let alone T rated high school fics, yet I remember waiting for the updates for this one as it came out, messaging mutuals on the day the last chapter was released. and every time I reread I remember why. Brilliantly written, the pining, the angst, the miscommunications. All the Joly and Bossuet scenes.

honourable mention to the scene where Joly is so excited for the battle of the bands, then next scene starts with "I think it's more of a sitting night today" the realest simple yet most gut punching illustration of chronic pain that gets my ass every time.

Summary:

“I know, it's so exciting.” Az let his head tip back against AJ's arm. If AJ was going to let him get this close, he might as well enjoy it.

“I mean, actually, I'm the one leading the revolution. One look at a pretty face, and whoops! Off you go, leaving me behind.”

“But I come back! I'm there when the barricade falls, after all.”

“Only because you think Cosette left your sorry ass. Me and the revolution, your rebound relationship. Or your suicide mission.”

Az sighed. “Hard to believe Marius could look at anyone else with Enjolras onstage. You're going to do him justice, my dear. Marius is dull as dishwater by comparison.”

“Nah, Marius is a romantic. He's quiet, but he has all these beautiful lines to sing, almost as if he's been sitting around thinking them up, waiting to say them to someone. He sort of reminds me of you, actually. You and your head full of poetry.”

Okay, I was so ready to recommend a WIP, The Truth That Once Was by @goddammitjim – An AU in which Obi-Wan and Cody are Broadway actors performing Les Misérables. Don't get me wrong, I'd still recommend it, it's really good so far, but I can't seem to find any other fics like this, so I'm starting to think that this is the one you're talking about?

And in that case I'd like to share this one with the crowd, maybe someone has some suggestions I'm not familiar with!

Other than that, however, there's

Rhapsody in Blue by kckenobi (@kckenobi) - another modern AU in which Obi-Wan and Cody are still performers (but in an Orchestra). You might like this one if you enjoyed the above-mentioned fic, there are some similarities in that they're all colleagues and there're plenty of secrets and flashbacks to Obi-Wan's past – admittedly, it's less focused on Cody, but I don't think it's that big a stretch and it's a great read And there's this huge mystery thrown in there too (which really keeps you on the edge of your seat despite knowing who the bad guys are).
