So I rewatched the last episode of Kevin can fuck himself and I was so focused on pattison the first time that I didn't appreciate enough the fact that every woman has some character development (separately from shipping dynamics).
What I mean is that this ep is really about women, not just Allison, speaking their mind and geeting free from manipulative/abusive partners and codependant relationship.
Patty is finally standing her ground to Patty! “I can’t uproot my life just to make you happy”, I’m so proud of her!
Patty is setting boundaries with Neil and telling him to handle his own shit for once was chief kiss
Diane “that’s not my job Neil” refuses to elope with him and tells him she can’t be the reason he stays sober, what a queen!!! And she’s sober for more than 200 days!!! I’m so happy for her.
Allison’s “I want a divorce” line is so powerful.
The moment when the audience cheers and is on Allison’s side as soon as she stands her ground and then we leavethe sitcom world ??? Amazing!
Random thoughts:
The episode felt a bit rushed at times
Is that the librarian lady in the hair salon?
Allison tries to reconnect with her love of reading while patty can’t read anymore, that’s funny. You two should start a bookclub together! And maybe read queer and lesbian literature together ? That might give you some ideas, just a thought *knowing smirk*
On a side note, I’m kind of digging Allison’s brown hair
Allison, honey, if you want to get back into reading, you shouldn't start by reading Ulysses, a book known for being super dense and long! Because you're just going to end up frustrated and feel stupid. Trust me, I'm a librarian so I know what I'm talking about lmao
Patty and Allison are so in love, I was grinning like an idiot every time they spoke about each other.
Patty casually admitting Allison is her favorite person, I love it!
Patty never stopped looking for Allison and tracking her lastest localization. She never gave hope on Allison, bless her sad gay ass!
Alliso, thinking she doesn’t deserve to come back to Worcester and to Patty ??? Allison, stop being dumb and go back to your wife! you deserve each other
When Kevin sets the fire due to his careless drinking and destructivee way of life because he has no one to back him up or clean his mess so he has to face actual consequences for once, that was karma bitch.

thinking about riz gukgak and how he feels so alone and yet how his words, his works, are the first thought for his friends when they don’t know what to do
thinking about how love is work, how love is the act of giving and giving and giving until you have nothing left and yet he cannot ever prioritize himself
thinking about how he takes every nickname, every gift, every moment of care with an eagerness that far outstrips the gift in its giving
thinking about how his every stress comes from a moment of devotion and care for his friends, from unraveling the mysteries that permeate their lives
thinking about how he could call them to action with a single warning because they trust in him so much
thinking about how he justifies what he gives to his friends even as his mother asks him to consider himself for once
thinking about riz ‘the ball’ gukgak

god!merlin
druids can NOT speak in people’s minds. when they are before a high priestess, they can pray to her directly and she can hear them (hence the scene between morgana and mordred when he spoke in her mind).
merlin who constantly has this buzzing in the back of his head that he can never understand besides the occasional odd word which makes no sense. but when he’s closer to a druid or when their prayer is super strong, then he can make out what they’re saying.
merlin who brings up the fact that druids can speak into peoples minds to gaius who casually unfurls a scroll containing his ongoing list of reasons why merlin is/evidence of merlin being a god of the old religion.

time for another “THANK YOU I LOVE YOU” message: THANK YOU I LOVE YOU!!! i’ve been struggling with some severe burnout in all facets of my life as a result of being too stubborn and prideful to recognize said burnout and so i’ve had a hard few weeks with just that + tumultuous personal life stuff + blah blah blah, and wanted to say THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! i’m giving a little rest from reviews and art (moreso the former) since i was really forcing myself to make ends meet and turning it into a chore and so i’m just kind of forcing myself to stop and rest and be a person. which is excruciatingly hard for a GO GO GO person like me so i just wanted to say thank you for your patience and understanding with that! and thank you for your support!!! i haven’t had the emotional bandwidth to answer asks or DMs lately but i promise i see them and am seriously grateful for everyone who has sent one in, i really want to share the love and get back on my feet and be more active and open and talkative since I LOVE INTERACTING WITH YOU GUYS!! so i just wanted to say thank you for your patience and support in spite of all that. i’m usually my worst enemy in terms of putting the most pressure under myself and buckling under it as a result, i know realistically nobody is sharpening their harpoon gun because i didn’t touch a review for a week. but i wanted to put out a message as a bit of peace of mind regardless 🙏 thank you for your support in any capacity and know that i am extremely grateful for it beyond words!

I am just somehow OBSESSED with Takeru DRIVING. Like is he a bad driver? He speeds past the gang waiting outside of Daisuke's restaurant (or the restaurant where Daisuke works, whatever), so maybe? Is that his mom's car? Or is it his car? Why does he NEED a car? What is he doing that requires him to drive? Is it going to be a plot point in the movie? Is Takeru being a BAD DRIVER going to be a plot point? I need to know.
Ken and Miyako are also visibly startled when Takeru speeds past (Miyako JUMPS!!!!), while Iori and Hikari don't even flinch. What does that say about DYNAMIC?! Are Iori and Hikari more used to Takeru's (presumably bad) driving? That would make sense, no, cause they are (canonically???) closer with him? Just such a small interaction and I can interpret so much and draw so many conclusions!!! How fun!!!
There's just something really so fun about watching characters you've loved your whole life continue to grow - to see new details about them spring up, new traits, new things to add to canon.
It's the most delightful thing about the Digimon Adventure franchise to me. Sure, the stories they have told over the last decade have mostly been all various shades of mediocre, but the character moments - goodness, the character moments just don't hit the same in any other media for me. It's so special to me.
ETA: WAIT, looking at the screencap, Iori looks slightly concerned. Only Hikari looks calm (though she does turn her whole body to look at the car once it stops). Does this mean HIKARI is the only one comfortable with his driving? Cause Hikari is closest to him? (I don't even think their closeness is something that is debatable - I feel like it is PRETTY CANON that they are closest with each other???????????)
HERE'S HOW TAKARI CAN STILL WIN.
