Last Friday I was so upset at myself for not having anything to upload... and I completely forgot I had these rough drawings.

So here ya go, a redesign of HobbySwap (Lifeswap? Idk, but I feel like the old name is pretty eh) Membrane. Felt like I'd gotten a bit better at dressing characters up and thought he'd look nice with a bit of an edgier, more villain-esc look. Lean into the mad scientist more.

Part 2 of the life-swap series! Oddly enough when I asked those close to me, none of them anticipated that I'd swap Chloe and Luka. Honestly it made more sense to me? Both have sisters, have at least one obscenely rich parent, and have crushed on the two leads?

Now onto the plot-

After finding out about the twins Jagged decided to battle for custody. He managed to get full custody of Luka, but not Juleka, and out of spit decided to cut the twins off from each other, causing Anarka to move to the the US. But despite having a young son now, this didn't stop Jagged from touring, often leaving Luka behind in Paris to be looked after by whoever was available. Even when he was in Paris he often avoided Luka, instead leaving Penny to watch him.

Luka grew up bitter at his fathers lack of care for him, and took it out on everyone around him. Mostly the staff of both Le Grande Pari, where he lives, as well as whatever caregiver his father/Penny had hired. When he went to school, he immediately began taking his anger out on everyone there too. Once Adrien's mom passed he took a special hatred to the blonde, in some ways seeing himself in Adrien. Both now children of single fathers, but Gabriel is in his sons life (whether that's good or bad doesn't matter to Luka).

And Luka, being an empath knows exactly how to get under ones skin. Because even if you don't show your emotions outwardly, he still can tell when he's struck gold. The only person he doesn't hate is Marinette, his childhood friend and the only person unaware of his attitude.

And yes, we are going for Cannon Chloe swap here, so no redemption for Luka. Sad. I'll draw Akuma-Viperion later.

Onto Chloe, once Andre found out about Audrey's infidelity he gave her two options. The first, he expose her and her career be permanently marred. Or she give him full custody of both Chloe and Zoe and the could divorce peacefully. Chloe hasn't seen her mom since she was 3 and quite frankly had no interest in her. Zoe only being a half sister to Chloe is a carefully guarded secret, one that Zoe thinks even Chloe doesn't know.

Chloe, not wanting to emulate her mother grew up with a very different mindset. Instead being taught that being both too aggressive and a pushover will lead to a mess. So she instead learns to govern her hive with a firm but steady hand. The staff of Le Grand Paris greatly respect her, and she is often the one sent to head off a Luka temper tantrum, as the only person unimpressed by both him and his father. She's more of an Clara Nightingale fan anyways.

She fast tracked her way through school, and decided to take Highschool online as to give herself more time to work both at the hotel and at her event planning company. As Queen Bee, she is fierce but kind. The favorite of the secondary heroes, since she is not only efficient at stopping the akuma, but will stick around to comfort and reassure both the victim and the civilians who were caught in the attack.

Due to her calm voice and good advice, Ladybug and Chat Noir have turned to her many times for comfort on both the chaos hero life and civilian troubles. She's always willing to listen when they need her. As such Hawkmoth sees her as the most beneficial to target. Only he seems scarred to akumatize her for some reason...

As in, the iterators were more like silly little constructs that idk probably were used for labour or some shit and the slugcats were big purposed organisms that evolved to become absolutely huge and the entire game takes place on the back of a sleeping slugcat, and in place of the iterators is the slugcat's pups that could be cool i think

hey @greentrickster guess who's brain has been consumed by this two/three year old AU for the last few weeks (the post that started it was made on September 3rd 2019, but the first tagged post wasn't until that October, so. 2-3 years old)

there's more than this but this is the colored stuff and one passing thought (last image) that I latched onto HARD because the idea of Nahyuta and Klavier meeting by chance at like. 1 AM because the Gavinners want food and Burger Barn is open late and Nahyuta really needs to not fail his stupid final so Klavier helps is really funny to me for some reason. mostly because nahyuta has no idea who this guy is outside of "he knows calculus and his friends are sort of loud" (and it may or may not have been uploaded online with the caption of "this is the good luck gavin, reblog for good luck on your finals")

also! Apollo in color! I still don't know if I like the red or blue for the vest part more but I think keeping the sleeves pure white save for MAYBE metallic bands or something around where the bell part stars is better that faint colors...

(also-also featuring "kristoph gavin messed both of us up", "trucy can and will slip into coats for warmth", and "simon maybe you shouldn't corner the guy who regularly breaks the laws of physics by accident")

i have. so many unorganized thoughts on this AU it's ridiculous and some day they'll be more organized but for now all i have is this wonderful out of context quote that might be canon: "The crown princess of Khura'in stole Herr Sunshine's phone and is sending me pictures of her frog."

Lifeswap AU Adrien <--> Chloé

The Agrestes raise Chloé as their perfect porcelain princess.

Adrien is brought up in the Bourgeois household, and all that entails.

Chloé is sent to school, the better to show off their little doll.

Adrien is kept home(until the start of canon) away from the peasentry.

Adrien still gets the black cat for <reasons> maybe a fluke, who knows. He's Actually not much different as Cat Noir. Cocky, maybe a hair more belligerent, but loves to show off. Enamoured of Ladybug and a bit pushy in that regard(used to his way! but let's not overdo it)

Adrien as a civie is a right tosser. Raised to be above everyone else. Does Marinette still fall for him? (Draco in leather pants?) That's up in the air.

Chloé at school is the clueless one, even years later. Ephemeral, apart. Perhaps slightly baffling in how oblivious she is, and how she STILL doesn't seem to *get how things work* after all this time.

Sabrina is more of a minder than minion. Steering the girl away from harm. Do your homework, don't pet the crocodile, remember to eat etc.

Up in the air which family has the butterfly and peacock and which kid is made up, if at all(or both!) This was just a little brainstorm. Very open to thoughts and tinkering.

Do you ever think what Terezi Serket and Vriska Pyrope would be like? (in a lifeswap way, even though they'd totally steal each others names if they married.)

A Vriska who is on the outside of society looking in, who feels compelled to prove she's just as great without a Lusis as everyone else. Even so, she can't help notice all the flaws in society, and the desire to BURN IT ALL DOWN! I feel like in this au, she'd latch onto Gamzee and try to train him the way she canonically trained Tavros. I also feel like she'd really look up to Karkat for hiding her blood color, but not want to admit that in a million years.

A Terezi that spends most of her life trying to find the most ethical ways to feed her lusis possible. She asks Sollux to help her hack into databases to find trolls that need to be culled, and mercy kills them first. Eventually, she gains a bit of a reputation for this, and trolls beg her to save the lives of their quadrant mates. She's conflicted for that. Vriska repeatedly tries to convince this Terezi to kill Spidermom, but Terezi refuses, saying she can't help her diet. I feel like this Terezi works with Eridan to save the world from Feferi's Lusis, and feels heroic because of it. (I also feel like she'd dislike Fef for shirking her perceived responsibility) I also feel like she'd be mediating Arasol, but I don't know why.

misc thoughts fresh off finishing yumi and the nightmare painter: 

* i should’ve taken my time reading this ahaha. books definitely hit different when savored and on larger screen/pages

- there were some tropes i didn’t like here, like painter pretending to yumi to be all cooler and more heroic than he actually was = cringe when it comes falling down. at least that part was relatively short. but like digging a hole with your lies ughhhhhhh hate that hate misunderstandings hate people not believing you when you tell the truth 

- was not convinced to care about the side characters. they didn’t really get any development. i wasn’t even sold on the old friend group being friends with each other - their banter wasn’t that good, and I’m sensitive to this kinda thing atm since I’m in my own struggle of writing convincing and interesting friend group interactions - nor were they written particularly compellingly as individuals. akane was kind but that was about it. i love the sleepless as a concept and masaka was great but she really came out of nowhere to help. and liyun could have used more development 

- speaking of masaka this is a hot take as a cosmere fan but i think there’s a point where the cosmere references get too much and detract from the story at hand. felt that a bit with lost metal, at times with tress, and definitely here. 

- hoid’s narration - i thought it fine in tress, suited the fairytale storytelling tone, but his comments felt kind of more annoying and distracting and out of place in this one. at least he had an actual role in tress...

+ the twist was very cool, big fan, i was totally misled, but 

- the reveal was... the fact that what happened was so complicated that it needed SUCH a big exposition dump, i was not a fan. like im grateful to hoid that he knew i was confused. but it shouldn’t have been so confusing, there had to have been a better and more elegant way to present what happened 

- and im still a little confused about what we saw of yumi’s world was real 

- also like who were the actual aliens they encountered lmao we’re just moving right along

+ so i was ready to throw hands when i saw “epilogue”. and then “another epilogue” ahaha. to be fair that sad ending was still a good ending itself but god i would’ve been so upset hahaha

+ the ending made me feel things. almost eked out some tears. such a good ending overall.

+ the art ahhhhhhhhh so pretty. def my fav artist / artwork of the four (i’m just a big fan of this kind of aesthetic. traditional korea + futuristic japan) 

- though i was a little disappointed with the cover. not sure why. the pure outlines don’t stand out very well and the text font/color... idk... 

* for some reason i thought that the colors being cyan and magenta meant that there’d be significance in the missing third color yellow or lime or smth. i thought there was a WoB or smth. oh well 

* are maipon sticks actually any different from chopsticks. why not just also call them chopsticks. 

- i think the preview chapters gave me expectation that there’d be a bit more with their respective magics and worldbuilding which were so cool and i wish we saw more of that, b/c that kind of stuff interests me more. top tier aesthetics for these worlds. but i guess this was always supposed to be more “inward” and more focused on the romance... 

- i think i didn’t find yumi or painter super likable on a personal / personality level either. this is kind of a me thing though. i know they’re supposed to be Like That with their backgrounds, histories etc. i suspect i’d appreciate them more on reread.

- oh yeah and i want to know more about the other yoki hijo too! 

+ this is a pretty focused book even if i do want to know more. i can respect that. like how this was a lifeswap not a bodyswap, allows for keeping the focus on the story he wants to tell 

+ will admit it was super funny that painter was seen as yumi but yumi was still just seen as herself 

+ was gonna cry at the introduction of the Machine to replace Art. but then it was like, maybe it’s worth it if it saves any other girls from suffering the - abuse, basically - that yumi had to go through? but in the end the Machine is unequivocally the evil here 

+ i do love yumi Stacking Things whenever stressed ahaha

this sounds like a lot of negative points but those are more interesting to talk about and those are what come to mind quickly esp since i’m just pulling thoughts out very quickly and haphazardly here. to some extent the good parts go without saying and id appreciate them more on (a slower) reread and tbh i might make a follow up post as i think more on this. i think i was just a little disappointed bc i came in with really high expectations... ah well. still a good book overall, and i want to give it a reread to better understand and catch some things. i think my current ranking is tress > yumi > frugal 

but im gonna hit post for now to forcibly stop myself from adding more

Lifeswap Alya! (you'll get Nino in a bit)

Alya doesn't run the Ladyblog. Instead she runs the Bug-Cast, a podcast covering Ladybug and Chat Noir's exploits. As well as talking to the akuma victims about what they experienced and theorizing about the miraculous.

Since Ladybug came onto the scene in all of her magical girl glory, Alya has been the number one advocate. She admires the girls confidence and determination and decided to devote her time to chronologically recording all of the miraculous incedent's in Paris.

Alya is more focused on research and entertainment so she tries to stay away from the akuma fights if possible. After all, there are plenty of other witnesses she can ask later, ones who might not get to tell their story on larger news broadcasts. Or ones too scared to reveal their identity post being akumatized. Alya's podcast format and mostly anonymity from going by 'Miss-Red' online, lets victims feel more comfortable talking about it.

Only Marinette and Nino are aware that Alya is Miss-Red. Later Adrien, as Chat Noir, also finds out.

She picked Marinette up because she saw this poor anxiety ridden girl and said "honey. chill." Alya's easy going attitude is a nice ballance for Marinette's livewire personality. She also is new, and doesn't really carry the (deserved) prejudice against Luka that everyone else does. So she's more willing to put up with him for the first and second season.

As Rena Rouge, Alya is a stone cold badass, prone to hanging back and playing tricks on her adversaries, often leading them to cause their own downfall. Ladybug and Chat Noir will sometimes give her the miraculous for the sake of letting her investigate Hawkmoth. This becomes a permanent arrangement when the guardianship transfers.

Also her design and some of her personality is based on The Question *cough*

Lifeswap AU Blizz and Daisy relationship! Romantically, the ship ain't sailing, due to both characters liking others (Blizz likes Doki and Daisy has an infatuation with Vay) BUT! They get on very well platonically! Pre-lab Daisy and Blizz got on well! While Daisy was in the lab, she became very paranoid and frightened due to Trauma, which became ingrained in her after she left the lab. Blizz took an interest in Daisy because of her kindly nature, and they're slowly becoming friends! -NuggetAnon
