When a god dies, does the aspect they represent cease to function (ie god of war dying during a time of peace, god of tyranny bringing about a free world)? Does someone automatically take their place? There’s mythos of Pelor coming into godhood without really being aware of it at first; do people just pop into godhood without awareness?

Pelor’s divine awakening occurred by happenstance. The chaotic magic of Ardowin was coalescing wherever it could, and Pelor’s soul was pure (hence his official divine title, Pelor Lightsoul). At this point, the gods have become pillars of existence more than actors. Powerful, to be certain, but constrained by a role in which they must protect the Wheel’s integrity. One god dying is problematic, but the weight of their authority can be easily distributed among other powers for a time. Typically, a god’s most trusted followers/angels will be informed and a series of candidates will be presented, a final choice being made by the aforementioned council of Primus, Io, Asmodeus, Jergal, and myself. If many die in quick succession, something not unlike the Great Catastrophe occurs. The very fabric of reality bends as Ardowin’s magic tries to realign itself, potentially ripping. Troubling stuff.

Assignment Name: In-Game Scene

Description: Here is a sidescroller example of what my game may look like. This composition shows a candle mage fighting Mammon, with Mammon's castle in the background and some Lightsoul arms in the foreground. The player plays as the candle mage, who in this scene fights Mammon on a bridge in Hell. For the art style, I decided to pivot slightly and go more comical/playful, using the techniques I learnt when sketching my cuphead clock and applying them here. Overall, the piece is interesting but does have a dissociation in art style between the candle mage and Mammon, the latter drawn realistic with shading and the former more comical and flat. Discounting this difference in style, I do like the setting/composition of the piece. I feel like the different parts of the game are very distinct -- the castle is clearly in the background, and the player, bridge, and platforms clearly denote the plane upon which the player stands.

Self Reflection: Happy days! The last assignment is over. Although I am admittedly burnt out from drawing, my whole experience in this class has aptly trained me for drawing in the digital space and I am super grateful. Regarding this piece, the only thing I would probably change is the positions of Mammon and the candle mage to show a greater variety of movements. Otherwise, totally satisfied with the result, especially since I got it in on time. Thanks for everything! Hopefully new posts will continue to come through... :)

Guess who's finally updating Lightsoul?

That's right, it's me! I'd find it kinda weird if you thought it was someone else though...

It leads to the very first chapter of a Hermitcraft fanfic that I first started working on about a year ago! I'm really excited lol

If you don't trust the link, the fic is split up into a series called The Rising of the Residents of Lightsoul and you can just look it up on ao3

The whole premise is that the hermits are in a world where violence against anything at all is prohibited and you're punished for it as long as you know that you're committing an act of violence. Basically self defense isn't an excuse to hurt monsters. It starts out with Xisuma who makes a goal to visit every destination in that world and it's focused a lot on character growth. 100% platonic and he meets other hermits along the way. It's really self-indulgent lol

Czasem przydarzają się chwile, gdy łapie mnie dół, jestem smutna, stresuje się każdym najmniejszym błędem, nie mogę się zmusić do pewnych rzeczy, czasem nie daję sobie po prostu rady. Niekiedy mówię o tym przyjaciołom, zazwyczaj piszę wtedy do znajomych, z którymi jestem w dość bliskich stosunkach, ale mieszkają zbyt daleko.Piszę... chyba o to właśnie chodzi, że o wiele łatwiej mi poruszyć pewien problem pisząc niż mówiąc o tym komuś, nie ważne czy twarzą w twarz czy przez telefon łatwiej mi coś wyrazić zamieniając to w litery niż w dźwięki, ale słowa pisane są trwalsze. Słowo usłyszane można szybko zapomnieć jeśli się nie jest uważnym, jeśli Ci ktoś nie powtórzy możne nigdy się nie dowiedzieć co powiedział, natomiast zdanie napisane można przeczytać kilka razy, zrobić zrzut ekranu, schować w laptopie lub wywalić notes na strych i wrócić do tego za kilka lat. Oczywiście można je usunąć, ale nie zawsze się da.

Boli mnie czasem fakt, że moim przyjaciele nazywają mnie leniem, obrażają się na mnie, są po prostu wściekli przez co później i jestem zła na samą siebie i mam wyrzuty sumienia, ale każde działanie ma swój skutek... Wiem, że mogłabym być bardziej otwartą, lepszą wersją siebie, ale się boje, cholernie się boję...

Assignment Name: Character Design Key Art

Tools: Sketchbook

Description: This is the adapted key art from my sketches. It depicts Mammon with his legendary fishing rod, capturing a lost soul and dragging it into Hell. The foreground contains the lost soul's foot, which is currently still human-esque given that Mammon has not yet turned it into a Lightsoul. Below are the mountain ranges of Hell, treacherous and steep cliffs that are almost impossible to scale. Mammon has built a system of towers and bridges across the mountain range in order to easily traverse the terrain. Topping the towers are spires made of gold, Mammon's signature architectural liking. (Any and all structures related to Mammon will have these spires) Above the mountains and to the right of Mammon is a larger watch tower, inhabited by Mammon's imp underlings who keep watch over his castle in the background. His castle is grandiose, allowing Mammon plenty of space to store all his greedy trinkets. On the left and right of the castle are two huge towers, with several smaller watch towers jutting out. These towers also possess golden spires. Bridges connect the towers and various other parts of the castle and its wall.

Self Reflection: Overall I am decently happy with the end result. Probably the biggest change I made that I liked was making Mammon's eyes black instead of white, which lends a greater menacing/dangerous feel. I'm also quite happy with the pose that I ended up placing Mammon in, because the pose is striking and directly communicates Mammon's incentives and actions in the game world. However, I definitely think I could have done a better job in the world-building sense if I added more environmental elements. Putting a few underling imps along the tower bridges or on the castle wall would probably do the trick. I also originally planned to have candle mages flying towards Mammon with weapons drawn, but due to time limitations I was unable to add them. Nevertheless, I think that this key art does effectively communicate Mammon as a character, showcasing his actions and intentions as well as his connection to the Hell settting.

Here 2 drawings I did these days :3 In first is Past Yoxxy (I won't say more cuz comic spoilers =w=) And in the second drawing is a reference sheet that I might draw it digitally cuz I messed up some things , her name is Milasi and she is Soul of Music cuz I choose God of Music instead of God of Sound cuz it would be more amazing like this :3 plus! Music can be made by anything! X3
