anyways because i think the person blocked me while i was out, dont go around speculating people's trauma beyond what they've given. while yes, its possible they're expressing it through their art, it's disrespectful and violating their privacy to speculate so deeply that you say they're a victim.

for example, in 2020~2021-ish, i was personally apart of the dsmp fandom. the main thing about dsmp and the characters was that the streamers would roleplay characters that were very identical to themselves, almost like a persona that bowed to the will of minecraft roleplay. it was at times difficult to distinguish the lines between when a streamer was in character and was out of character. a prime example of this would be tommyinnit. tommy played a character named, of course, tommy (who we will call c!tommy). c!tommy shared a lot of things with tommy the streamer, but he went through many traumatic events. one of which was the infamous exile arc. c!tommy was subjected to MAJOR emotional abuse, and tommy played the character very well! especially for someone who never really wrote anything to this extent, he put on a great performance

unfortunately, within the fandom, people started to theorise that tommy may be a victim of abuse to that level because of how well he was playing the character. considering that tommy, who has a VERY good relationship with his parents, with his mom openly supporting him on her social media, and has had support from them his entire content creator career, this line of thought was near insane to consider.

it was also very parasocial. people would find signs, saying that they know exactly what's going on based on his own content he was pumping out. they do not. they do not know him personally, and were largely basing it off of what they gathered from the exile streams. to be parasocial is to consume content of someone and claim to know them in some way shape or form. to feel there is a connection there and say its real. while art allows us to express things, its not an open invitation for speculation.

dont be parasocial with people you dont know personally. ESPECIALLY in this day and age, where the internet has normalised oversharing. if someone doesnt want us to know or speculate about something, then don't actively do so. if they have not hinted outside of their content that they want people to know their intimate trauma, then give them the deserved respect and DONT speculate.
