Petition/Interest Check to Purge Underage RPF on AO3
Apologies if there are typoes on this post. if you would like me to clarify anything via DM, ask, or reply I am more than happy to. This topic is very important to me. I will publish all asks.
Claim
When people claim the Archive of our Own (AO3) hosts CSE/AM (Child Exploitative/Abusive Material) they typically are, or people assume they are, talking about underage fics of fictional characters. Whether or not you believe these fics are immoral is irrelevant to the topic that the Archive of our Own hosts thousands of works of real life (RPF) children under the tag Underage Sex.
At best, these are publicized pedophilic fantasies of real children. At worst, it is CSAM.
Classifying CSAM
When most people think of CSAM, the most obvious examples are photographs and videos of child sexual abuse. And yes, this is the most glaring and important to tackle part of CSAM. However, photorealistic images meant to resemble children, at least in the United States, are classified as CSEM.
CSEM is bad because a child is, in a word, being sexually exploited. Child celebrities are frequently exploited by their employers, parents, and yes, fans. (John Hickley Jr. was inspired to assassinate Reagan due to his pedophilic obsession with Jodie Foster, he is not a man to be praised)
When you are famous, it is impossible to avoid what people are saying about you. To say that child actors should just "look away" from the people who publicly post rape fantasies about them is victim blaming, plain and simple.
Consent and RPF
Even with adults, RPF is a highly contested topic, with some celebrities giving explicit consent and others expressing explicit discomfort. This is irrelevant to this topic. As I hope everyone reading this can agree, children cannot consent. A very, very common argument I hear in response to defending Underage RPF is that the authors could possibly be minors themselves. This is ignoring the fact that,
It is very unlikely that those writing RPF tagged "Extreme Underage" (Read: Toddlers and Elementary schoolers) are that age
Though, yes, many people just lie, AO3 asks to confirm you're an adult before opening any explicit work. One would expect the same rules to apply to authors.
Writing private fantasies is different than sharing them to a public platform where anyone, including adults, can read them.
Children-on-children sexual abuse has its own term, COCSA. Being a minor does not mean you are incapable of committing CSA. It is no more justifiable, and a child is still harmed.
AO3's complicity
On November 25, 2023, X (Formerly Twitter) user bearsys_ published a tweet saying that they were let go as a volunteer for AO3 due to having "From the river to the sea" as their status.
This was considered a violation, and not the fact that bearsys_'s AO3 account, bryophyte, had earlier published RPF of an at the time 17 year old (de-aged to be a toddler) being raped by his deceased best friend.
This should speak louder than anything.
The simple fact that the Archive of Our Own allows fics to be tagged as both RPF and Underage is incredibly telling. If you are writing erotica about real, breathing children, you are a pedophile, or catering to pedophiles on the site. There is no excuse. And to pro-paras who defend this: you are not "anti-contact" if you are lusting after children on a platform they can access.
I would really appreciate more people talking about this. This is not a shipping debate. This is not a fandom debate. This is the largest fanfiction platform defending written CSAM because they know if they ban it, they will lose support.
I want people to be outspoken about this. So many times I see people claim to "not care about AO3 drama", because they care about real children and not fictional ones. So speak up about this. Because these are real children.

Have you read any second chance Naruhina fanfics? Where Hinata and Naruto break up/divorce but they eventually get back together? I’m craving for some but haven’t found any aside from CSE
yeah!

Small tidbits about my Still Into You 2ha animatic
Coz it's April, exactly one year from now was when I started completing it and I'm in the mood now. + I don't think I made a proper one + it won the twitter poll
Tumblr media
Check it out if you're interested... or not! I just want to dump my thoughts and fun facts that I thought of while making this.
To preface this, check them out if you haven't seen it yet: (Still Into You & Please Don't Leave Me)
If you've been hanging around my blog for a while, it's kinda evident that I did post a promo post for Still Into You back in January 2023. And that first part does have an in-depth explanation about what it covers (which is from the start to the first chorus).
If you're wondering why: TL;DR I can't work on An Act of Kindness coz I was back home from school for vacation and I thought of the idea during a trip.
Anyway, I ramble. Time to get to the actual discussion.
(spoilers!!) The Actual Discussion
Making the rest of Still Into You, unlike Mo Ran's feelings for CWN, was actually just straightforward. I already knew that it'd cover the rest of the book, given that I intentionally focused heavily on book 1 while making part 1.
Like part 1, part 2 was that type of animatic that just naturally flowed during the storyboarding and rough sketch process. The whole animatic is divided into three phases which covers the following: Book 1, Book 2 and 3, and lastly the Epilogue.
Book 1 I've already discussed in an earlier post here but I did find this interesting tidbit I wrote to my cousin:
Tumblr media
Anyways the discussion:
Tumblr media
Yeah I really wish I have a funny image to put here. I'm really enjoying looking back at my stuff and seeing my initial plans though.
Order at which I made each part.
One thing of note (and actually a common oversight I experience while doing storyboards coz I don't do timings) was that I storyboarded the frames when the vocals started and forgot the timings in between.
So I kinda had to fill the parts between part 1 and 2 last-ish? (don't really remember the proper timings).
Oh, oh! And another fun fact:
Still Into You Part 2 (Rough Draft)
Part 2 was initially done on my tablet in CSP so there's a whole different and rougher version of it. (pls lower the volume if you're wearing earphones)
Funnily enough, this took me like one sitting to finish and a whole lot of sessions to clean up. I do like this process though given that, around the time I drew this, I started leaning heavily into animation and prioritizing getting my thoughts across without care for cleanliness. (Something I felt held me back too much while making Please Don't Leave Me).
In fact, there are some obvious frames that I didn't really bother polishing up (mostly because they're too hard for me or they just flash by quickly). A glaring example is this frame from the third part:
Tumblr media
Another fun fact about the scene where TXJ shows CWN the plant he's been raising is it's actually inspired off of a doodle I made for someone in the Two Lifetimes CSE back in April 16 2023.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just really think that it's super adorable for them. Mo Ran in the the epilogue section alternates between TXJ and 2.0.
Aside from the plant, TXJ also appears in this frame which is inspired from one of the extras. Another silly intentional decision I did is to have him pour alcohol onto a cup and drink from the bottle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile 2.0 appears here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one on the left is also from (you guessed it) an extra! It's based from an offhand mention that CWN makes in one of them. (Let me know what your guesses are haha)
I kinda just jumped into the 3rd half of the song, huh? I hope my ramblings aren't too much! I just wanna let it flow naturally.
Returning to the topic of the storyboard, I really only had a rough idea of what I wanted for the 3rd half. The references to the extras and even Goutou's appearance just came when I was already putting it into frame. Like, this was what I initially had in mind for the 2nd chorus to the end.
Tumblr media
I think one of the notable differences is that I initially planned on doing the half MR half CWN screen transition the same way i did with chorus 1 and 2 but decided against it. In retrospect, I think it fits a lot because both aren't divided anymore.
Something about the second verse + chorus of the song
Tumblr media
Like in chorus 1 and chorus 3, this section of the song takes on a darker tone since it covers book 2 going into book 3. It's a lot to talk about so I'm gonna select a couple that I personally like that's worth mentioning and leave the rest to the viewers to guess.
Also sorry not sorry for those who got spoiled by the animatic lmao.
The confession scene
Another fun fact: The confession scene in Still Into You and Please Don't Leave Me are intentionally connected through the color palette.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's just that Still Into You takes a dump at how it treats it. Yes, the stick figures are intentional. It adds to the funny and tbh Still Into You really is just a feel good animatic. The comedy also serves as a whiplash to the angst hell that is the chorus 🥰.
(Insert obligatory CWN running at a tree meme here)
Tumblr media
My Favorite 2ha Moment
Gotta insert my favorite chapter here (ch 184) which I think is one of 2ha's peaks because it resolves CWN's doubts about MR's feelings all this times.
Tumblr media
And I'm just soo glad I could incorporate it in an animatic because it's so important to me. AND Like, 'yknow, I think it echoes the song very well because guess what MR tells CWN then?
“It has always been you."
That one frame before the chorus
There's like this moment before the second chorus starts where MR tells CWN something. I wanted it to echo ch 207 where MR felt the pressure of having to reveal that he actually is reborn and has memories of his past life.
Tumblr media
If this were animated I'd have had MR match the song and tell CWN "I'm still into you".
Anyways, here's the frame before it zooms in. Physically it's still at ch 207, but I wanted the shadows to imply what happens next which is the chorus.
Tumblr media
Other Bonus stuff
Ran out of stuff I wanna gush about so Imma talk about cut content.
XM and the MHX twins are supposed to have more frames (I didn't include it because it felt like it had too much energy)
Tumblr media
2. Ling'er and the village ranwan visits during farm arc is also supposed to make an appearance
Tumblr media
3. I forgot to animate the butterflies
Tumblr media
4. I was supposed to polish the sequence at 2:41 - 2:51 at one point.
Tumblr media
5. Fuck ow
Tumblr media
6. CWN was supposed to glomp MR at the reunion scene
Tumblr media
7. You and I
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways go watch it

liveblog of 02 - the first mission
in the entire linkon city, is there only one hunters headquarters? this twenty-storey building - it's convenient, but it also seems like incredibly poor security if it's just in the city exposed to the surroundings... one well-placed wanderer's ambush and all teams go down together... all that technological infrastructure...
the OTTO-CSE can even track my sleeping patterns... i know there are similar apps available these days that can do the same, but is this data being recorded and sent to mc's employer wwww
there are PILLS to combat tiredness????? say no to caffeine say yes to popping pills to fight off the tired effects... wonder what zayne will say about prolonged use of draumril
not the risk pay i'm dead...... yay for special insurance for higher risk of death! (sparkle)
alpha team is located right next to movere bridge so that mc can arrive anywhere in linkon city within a few seconds - teleportation??? < ah, normal transport, just super fast. is getting a driver's license included in a hunter training course? how comprehensive...
not mc thinking ah yes these old monitors must be used to block off eye contact and prevent small talk...
this braimago - brain image(o) i'm assuming? there's clearly some neuro linkage between the pen's "three green streaks of light" that enable it to connect with mc's mind and accurately replicate onto paper what mc can envision in her mind's eye. and evidently, braimagos are under tight security if one requires TSC security authentication code to be used. is it for images only or can the pen also write words? life would be easier if there was a pen that could just pull the words out my head and onto paper without me writing...
but i must say it's interesting - and this is very common among other futuristic settings, be it otome games or games / movies etc - that despite how advanced the technology looks in terms of translucent floating screens, holographs, watches that beam up images, touch screens, pens that can apparently link up to one's brain... there appears to still be a heavy reliance on hardcopy paper. mc described the room she entered as having a lot of "untouched paperwork". the braimago is used to draw on "paper" (although, i'm intrigued by how the braimago can be used to draw on paper if it operates via lights / energy (?) to penetrate the human body to have a neuro link with the brain. you're telling me there's also an ink cartridge or lead in the pen along with all this tech?). you would think that a society so advanced would have moved beyond needing physical paperwork - something that would make more sense in-universe would be multiple tablets stacked together, maybe. unless there's some concern that electronic devices can be misused and paperwork is still the best when it comes to certain official documents?
nero is 100% that guy from pacrim 2 who mindmelds with a kaiju and essentially is mindfucked by it for the entirety of pacrim 2. 100%.
ah he's from data analytics. yeah going back to my first point in 01, do these people ever have to go into the field? it doesn't exactly seem like nero will willingly go into the field wwww... maybe if he's dragged kicking and screaming with some tech held at gun point, he'll fulfil any required combat missions but otherwise...
advanced tech labs considers the missions and assigns them according to the specific HUNTER'S evol / capabilities / efficacy? not the team? so ATL assigns a mission DIRECTLY to mc and not, say, to alpha team who then reassigns it to whoever in the team based on their own analysis? this does not sound efficient at all... unless everything is just done by numbers and they rely on AI to do it for them, in which case, well i guess...
oh it's nice that you're still allowed to pick and choose missions, but i assume there is a minimum number of missions one has to complete per month / whatever timeframe they use when measuring work performance - else it would be too easy to just enter a team and only do urgent missions and completely reject all other missions, wouldn't it? or are urgent missions so common that undertaking the assigned urgent missions would be sufficient to hit whatever mission quota is assigned?
if brand new hunters are assigned solo b rank missions right out of graduation, who the hell are doing missions below b rank? maybe data analytics..... shit i crack myself up
MC DRIVES A MOTORBIKE? damn i didn't know the hunter academy made you get a motorbike license... pretty sick.
YOU PICK ZAYNE UP FROM THE ROADSIDE.... THIS IS THAT MEME WHERE THE GUY AT THE BACK IS LIKE "it's not manly being on the back..." SO YOU LET HIM SIT IN FRONT AND TRAP HIM WITH YOUR ARMS ON EITHER SIDE SO YOU CAN STILL REACH THE HANDLEBARS!!! SAY IT IS SO!!
buckle up? there are seatbelts for passengers in motorcycles? hold on let me google this < hm. maybe they've finally invented a way for seatbelts for both driver and passenger on motorcycles because right now there are no seatbelts available.
"keep arms and legs by your side" - legs i can kind of get, but arms? is he not holding your waist? girl what kind of motorcycle is this? where is he holding? is he just sitting upright and praying??
help he is so malewife the way he slams into your back when you brake because he jerked back from the force of you starting the bike TAT zayne is this your first time on a bike TAT you are so funny
it's truly giving childhood frenemies....
(with hindsight) it's quite clear the skeleton in the giant transparent tube belongs to a skeleton. problem is the skeleton looks massive, and i'm not just talking about the length inclusive of the tail. even the human torso itself looks huge, which would also make sense since it should be somewhat proportional to the size of the tail (for the most effective build for swimming and hunting). are lemurians all that big? did rafayel.... shrink when he turned human?? or is this like an ultra ancient lemurian skeleton like how the animals were all way more massive during the prehistoric era?
xander sciences - is zayne engaging in scientific / biomedical experimentation as well? on top of being a cardiovascular specialist? boy this man is busy
bruh what was the point of zayne coming here. just to check up on raymond because he asked, confirm the vital signs are all good, exchange some snarky words and then leave? i hope he was paid well for this home visit
... why are there faint scars on zayne's hands?
interesting, they've finally given a visual description for metaflux. "an almost imperceptible ripple appears in the air", creating a resonance trail that is coming from the collection room - instinctively i think this means the format is as follows: portal prepares to open, portal location has sharp increase in metaflux levels. metaflux levels spread in a radius (energy waves) and these are visible to the naked eye, kind of like how the sun makes the air shimmer in waves when it's too hot sometimes. i'm still not certain if a resonance trail is something mc has because of her resonance evol or if it comes from her hunter's watch - i'm assuming it's the former for now.
i understand gameplay wise that the boys need to fight with you to justify pulling for certain myth cards with new ways of fighting etc, but i do wonder in plot how it fits in. is everyone born with an evol? does one need a license to be able to use it in public / day-to-day? how is zayne so good at using his evol if he hasn't undergone hunter training? this is sounding a lot like the bnha quirk regulation system but they're serious questions. also not gonna lie if zayne can nail a wanderer with no training so easily then why did i bother going to hunter academy. and why do they issue guns to rookie hunters if an icicle (or other manifestation of an evol) will work just as well... ok i suppose at some point your internal mana runs out for evols
RAYMOND IS 35? WHY DOES HE SOUND 70
"had yet to form a protocore" - do they form them when they land on earth or do they form them before coming to earth? i assume a protocore is like the equivalent of the crystal nucleus in zombies in cn apocalypse literature / dantian in fantasy literature. if these are the inspirations, then yes protocores do take time to form in the wanderers, and they will be stronger the more advanced the wanderer is. still doesn't answer the question of when exactly the protocore forms though - i suppose if the wanderer that enters earth is weak (maybe b level), then the protocore hasn't been formed yet, and as the wanderer levels up, the protocore is slowly formed through the process. but if the wanderer comes in at s level immediately, is the protocore fully formed? interesting. maybe i should join data analytics.
bro if rafayel can paint paintings with above healthy levels of metaflux energy that can draw people INTO said paintings if they have the resonance evol (or a manufactured resonance evol, i'm sure society will evolve to innovate such things), he could be paid an obscene amount of money for this... being sucked into a painting is insane... the new and improved siren song (since no ocean to drown prey in) is to drown people in paintings.... serial killer rafayel here we come
zayne froze a WHOLE ass cup just to knock mc with it to rouse mc from their reverie... this is so funny zayne you are so insane
help this is so funny
tara: the painting's artist is rafayel mc: rafayel? tara: he's pretty famous, always on the news. probably why you've heard of him before.
i won't lie my first reaction when mc when said "rafayel?" is that mc did NOT know who tf rafayel is and was repeating the name to be like huh, who is that? and for tara to be like yeah he's pretty famous that's why you've heard of him is so funny to me. it's like saying oh hozier sang this song and i go hozier? (who?) and you go yeah he's pretty famous isn't he and i'm like who's hozier
the day of ebbing......... sounds a lot like all hallows eve but for sea creatures.... coming ashore for one night and disappearing with the morning tide, with every interaction dissipating like the thin spray of foam on the waves....
why can't the sea creatures see the sun though... just peek your head out from the ocean surface? the sun is right there? unless they want to see the sun like, on the horizon with land beneath their feet... i'd imagine it's quite impressive either way if you've never seen it. alternative theory is the deep sea creatures, when transformed into humans (?) can surface to the upper sea / land and tolerate the change in pressure, which allows them to see the sun. if they remain as deep sea creatures, they can only survive in the deep sea and cannot rise up to see the sun since they would suffer from the blobfish effect if they tried to surface and no longer had the pressure of the deep sea to keep them in form. or maybe, final answer, rafayel is being a drama queen.
not rafayel chasing the dream of finding the right shade of red to paint the color of the ocean because that's all he remembers from the time he surfaced. i see the angst potential i am taking down notes. a man entranced by the right shade of red to mimic the firelit ocean he saw one night is the perfect set up for a serial killer i won't lie.
NOT THOMAS SAYING THE GALLERY WAS FILLED WITH "BETTER" PAINTINGS THAN THE ONE RAYMOND BOUGHT - THOMAS CAN YOU REALLY SAY THIS AS THE GALLERY MANAGER!!!
well i hope rafayel has good security. what do you mean he doesn't lock his doors. jesus christ i know you're a superstar mermaid but still!!
it just occurred to me i haven't mentioned anything about my rafayel shrimp color vision headcanon. shrimps have 12 color cone photoreceptors, as opposed to humans' 3 - what i mean is, rafayel is painting on levels we cannot fully comprehend and appreciate as humans because he has the shrimp 12 color cone photoreceptors. in this essay i will-
it is truly such an embarrassing introduction for him to literally fall off his high stool and fall onto mc. like do you need a railing on that chair rafayel? is this a height risk? it looks pretty high up not gonna lie i think you could easily break a bone if you fell from that height and fell wrong. particularly with all your paint cans lying around... and the way mc can just dodge to the side and let him fall on his face is so hilarious. god he looks so pathetic just lying on his side on the floor and calling you heartless for dodging. sir you told me to dodge. he is so funny
NOT HIM BEING LIKE YOU'RE NOT HERE TO CHECK UP ON THE RED FISH RIGHT. WHAT IF I AM
rafayel uses mummy bandages to paint.... ok
gotta agree with rafayel on this one. why does him admitting he used the coral stone to refine paint for raymond's painting mean raymond's erratic behaviour is automatically linked to him? lowkey acab of mc to be jumping to conclusions like this www why is she so insistent that there's something wrong with him because he painted it? like yes he's suspicious but you're showing your cards a bit too early! goes to show she's still a green rookie who doesn't know how to play the field well enough to get an admission yet huh... to be fair this is like her second day on the job.
so he materialised a dagger out of his flames, cut his middle finger, dropped a drop of blood onto the coral stone and that triggered the illusions, which created the metaflux fluctuations and opened up the portal for the wanderer to arrive... i don't think this is the first time he's finding out about the properties of the coral stone and/or that it can create metaflux fluctuations...
when rafayel says thank god the paintings are still intact i feel it's more of a thank god thomas can still sell them and not a thank god the wanderers didn't destroy my art wwwwww maybe it's the latter but it would be so funny if it were the former...
what injury... the cut he self-inflicted?! my god you would be the king of the silver screen rafayel...
i'm surprised that mc can't go apply for clearance to seize the coral stone if it truly is producing metaflux fluctuations? like there is hard data that is being recorded into her hunter's watch about the fluctuations radiating off the coral stone, particularly after the addition of rafayel's blood - surely this is something the hunter's association will be interested in investigating?
rafayel truly has the most clown bgm... it's so funny
HELP PROPERTY VALUES WILL FALL DUE TO INCREASED WANDERER ATTACKS? FERB I KNOW WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!
i wonder what a stele is
ah how interesting, there is an energy fluctuation monitor within the station... but not within the train? what happens if there's a long stretch of road between one station and the next, and a wanderer appears in the train? interesting to think about...
i wonder if hunters are permitted to customise their hunter uniform after a while / reach a certain level of authority? captain jenna's outfit still looks a lot like tara's, and nero's outfit also bears strong resemblance to those two - so why is xavier rocking out in an all white fit? just because it's sexy? thank you lord
oh my god it's so clear to me now. mc is a shounen protagonist. good for her

Mini-Essay: Without Light
WARNING: Discussions of dystopia, gore and cannibalism.
One of the good things about having a wide taste in media is how you can run into the oddest comparisons that still have value.
One of those is between the Project Moon games and Werewolf the Apocalypse 5th ed.
I know I have been focusing on W5 a lot this week, but the way it has messed up is something epic.
To explain to those who haven't played Project Moon games, they are set in a megacity surrounded by hostile wastelands. However, what goes in within the city's walls might be much worse than anything in the outskirts. The city is one of the absolutely worst places in fiction I know, and I know my Warhammer 40k. Cannibalism is so common the chefs have the choice of suppliers, barely human monsters roam the Backstreets to use their victims in various ways including as fabric (yes, FABRIC, not leather) and mega-corps and organized crime force citizens into bloody acts of desperation.
There is deep and profound despair in these games as the characters try to survive in this hostile world with their sanity mostly intact. Often being the greatest danger to each other due to their traumas.
In Werewolf the Apocalypse 5th edition, the Apocalypse is happening, the nation of werewolves has splintered and young werewolves try to hold onto something as they deal with millennia of wrongs their ancestors have committed. The old werewolves say the Wyrm, a force of entropy has gone mad and has been the main foe of the werewolves for as long as anyone can remember. What isn't helping these lost werewolves is that two tribes of their Nation have completely left even the scraps of society they have left. Cult of Fenris to fight the Wyrm at any cost and the Stargazers to think on things.
The only thing these young garou can do is to guard a sacred place of nature with their lives and hope to survive to the next day.
The thing that makes the Project Moon universe work where W5 doesn't, is how it approaches its darkness. The city is awful and there is little way to change it for the better. But where W5 spends page upon page decrying the werewolves and how bad they are at their job with very little in the way of solutions, Project Moon games focus on pushing through all that darkness for even a sliver of light.
It is not some power of friendship thing, either. A big part of the game Library of Ruina is to make peace with the wrongs of the past and move onward by letting go of old grudges for your own sake. The characters have done horrible things to each other and letting go is much much MUCH easier said than done, at times even looked down upon. Moving on takes effort from both the characters and the player.
There is hope, as small and fleeting as it may feel at times, but it is there.
Another aspect where Project Moon's world manages better is the way it treats its horrors. World of Darkness 5th edition has gotten a lot of flak from how it treats its horror carelessly and inserts things based on current events when doing so would be tasteless.
In Project Moon games, for one, there is zero sexual violence. The setting manages to be horrible with zero mentions of SA and CSE. In fact, the evil in Project Moon games is banal. It is a job, a way to pay rent, a scholarship, a way to feed the masses and so on. One job literally entails scraping skinned people off walls and turning them back to normal. One way to pay rent is to obey random orders like stabbing the 58th person you meet on the street.
In both cases, the setting is dark and grim but while W5 focuses on the misery without giving the players a chance to affect it, Project Moon games focus on untangling the misery and trying to work out a solution among the horror and carcasses.
In terms of writing, you need hope to showcase the darkness as it is. Without light to shine even a little, you will never get a sense things could be better. This is something Project Moon understands and W5 lost in its translation to WoD5.

accidentally saw the careers board in the university cse forums and saw that costco IT is doing their yearly internship stuff. it's students-only so i'm SOL obviously but they mention 'we are a drug free company and you must pass a drug screen'. which like, maybe this is more common than i think, but they're the first software job i've ever seen to say that. what the hell

10 people I'd like to get to know better
Tagged by @neaveings. Sorry for not using Tumblr as much as you probably want me too but I still want to get more into it!
Last song:
The Spirit of Man from Jeff Wayne's musical verison of 'The War of The Worlds'! Went to see it live in Dublin the other week and have just been listening to both versions of the album off-and-on again ever since! The original album has always been a Halloween Favourite of mine so seeing it performed live was just incredible!
Favourite colour:
Blue but feel like I've been vibing more with pink and green lately if that makes sense?
Last book:
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Shining Diamonds Demonic Heartbreak by Kouhei Kadono and Tasuku Karasuma and if the prompt is referring to a novel then The Columbo Collection by William Link!
Should probably read an original book and not a tie-in thing at some point but I feel like Columbo and Jojo is worth it. Although if you want some web recommendations, it wasn't the immediate last thing but I read Star Impact by Jack McGee recently. Really good webcomic that could use some more love!
Last movie:
This is Spinal Tap! Could have been A Minecraft Movie but thankfully I put TIST on when I got back. Still, a pretty good film and I recommend it if you like comedies, documentaries, or 80s heavy metal.
Last TV show:
Common Side Effects and please for the love of all that is animated please please please watch it! It's genuinely one of the best shows I've ever seen and deserves far more love than it's currently getting! My dad doesn't even really watch animation unless it's something we watched when I was a kid and he thought it was incredible if that says anything about the quality of it!
Looking forward to:
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Werner Herzog's The Twilight World, Doom the Dark Ages and whatever the Next Gorillaz album is just to list some things off the top of my head!
Current obsession:
Peglin, Common Side Effects and Epic the Musical. I've found that the last while anytime I've been able to sit down and play something I just kinda gravitate towards Peglin and I want to do whatever I can to give CSE more love! With Epic though I think that's really going to show by the end of the year cause I think I've been playing on Spotify non-stop so that's absolutely going to be on my Wrapped...
Also been listening to metal a lot this year but don't really know why? I think it may just be because I've really gotten into Dethklok/Metalocalypse more than usual this year but I don't know.
Tagging: Not too sure, really? If you see this and decide you want to do it too then just @ me and I'll put you here in spirit :D

The Importance of Data Structures and Algorithms in Software Development
The tools and techniques we use can make a significant difference in how efficiently our programs run. At the core of this efficiency lie data structures and algorithms. These two concepts are fundamental in computer science and form the backbone of effective software design. As an educator at St. Mary’s Group of Institutions in Hyderabad, I believe it’s crucial for computer science students, especially those in CSE-AIML, embedded systems, and related fields, to understand the importance of data structures and algorithms in their coding journey.
What Are Data Structures?
Data structures are ways to organize and store data in a computer so that it can be accessed and modified efficiently. Think of data structures as different ways to arrange and manage information. Just like a well-organized library makes it easy to find a book, using the right data structure helps a programmer efficiently manage data.
There are several types of data structures, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Here are a few common ones:
Arrays: A collection of elements identified by an index or key. Arrays are useful for storing multiple items of the same type and allow fast access to elements.
Linked Lists: A linear collection of data elements, where each element points to the next. This structure allows for dynamic memory allocation, making it easier to add and remove elements.
Stacks: A collection that follows the Last In, First Out (LIFO) principle. Stacks are used for tasks like function calls and undo mechanisms in applications.
Queues: A collection that follows the First In, First Out (FIFO) principle. Queues are useful for tasks that require order, such as print jobs or task scheduling.
Trees: Hierarchical structures that represent relationships between data points. Binary trees, for example, are useful for efficient searching and sorting.
Graphs: Structures used to represent networks of interconnected nodes. Graphs are essential in scenarios such as social networks, transportation systems, and web page linking.
Understanding these data structures and knowing when to use them is essential for any aspiring software developer.
What Are Algorithms?
Algorithms are step-by-step procedures or formulas for solving problems. They take input, process it according to defined rules, and produce an output. In software development, algorithms dictate how data is manipulated, processed, and retrieved.
Just like data structures, there are various algorithms, each suited for specific tasks. Here are a few commonly used algorithms:
Sorting Algorithms: These algorithms arrange data in a specific order. Examples include Quick Sort, Merge Sort, and Bubble Sort. The choice of sorting algorithm can greatly affect performance, especially with large data sets.
Searching Algorithms: Algorithms like Binary Search and Linear Search help find specific data within a structure. The efficiency of these algorithms can make a significant difference in performance.
Recursion: A technique where a function calls itself to solve smaller instances of the same problem. Recursion can simplify complex problems but may require careful management to avoid excessive memory use.
Dynamic Programming: This algorithmic technique is used for solving complex problems by breaking them down into simpler subproblems. It’s particularly useful for optimization problems.
Greedy Algorithms: These algorithms make a series of choices that seem the best at the moment. They are often used in optimization problems but may not always lead to the best overall solution.
Mastering algorithms is vital for writing efficient code and solving problems effectively.
The Importance of Data Structures and Algorithms in Software Development
1. Performance Optimization
Choosing the right data structure and algorithm can drastically affect the performance of software applications. For instance, using a hash table for lookups can provide constant-time complexity, whereas using a list may lead to linear time complexity. By understanding how to select and implement efficient data structures and algorithms, developers can create applications that run faster and use fewer resources.
2. Problem-Solving Skills
Learning data structures and algorithms enhances problem-solving skills. It trains developers to think logically and break down complex problems into manageable parts. This analytical thinking is crucial in software development, where challenges often arise that require innovative solutions.
3. Code Efficiency and Maintainability
Efficient code is not only about performance; it’s also about maintainability. Well-structured code using appropriate data structures and algorithms is easier to read, understand, and modify. This is particularly important in team environments, where multiple developers may work on the same codebase.
4. Preparation for Technical Interviews
For students aiming to enter the tech industry, understanding data structures and algorithms is essential for technical interviews. Many tech companies, including giants like Google and Amazon, focus on candidates ability to solve algorithmic problems and utilize data structures effectively. Mastering these concepts can give students a competitive edge in their job search.
5. Real-World Application
In real-world applications, data structures and algorithms are not just theoretical concepts; they are used in everything from web applications to mobile apps. For example, social media platforms use graphs to represent user connections, while search engines utilize complex algorithms to rank results based on relevance. A strong grasp of these concepts prepares students to tackle practical challenges in their future careers.
Conclusion
Data structures and algorithms are foundational components of efficient software development. As students at St Mary's Group of Institutions, Best Engineering College in Hyderabad, mastering these concepts is not only essential for academic success but also crucial for future career opportunities in computer science and engineering.
By understanding how to choose and implement the right data structures and algorithms, students can optimize their coding practices, enhance their problem-solving skills, and position themselves as valuable assets in the tech industry.

Here's a deep dive into why understanding money laundering holds immense significance for UPSC aspirants:
Money Laundering: A Threat to National Security:
Money laundering isn't just a financial crime; it fuels activities that directly threaten a nation's security. Here's how:
Terrorist Financing: Illegally obtained funds from drug trafficking, human smuggling, and other criminal activities are often laundered to finance terrorism. Understanding money laundering allows future civil servants to identify and disrupt these financial flows, potentially preventing terror attacks.

State Destabilization: Large-scale money laundering weakens a nation's financial system and erodes public trust in institutions. UPSC aspirants with a grasp of money laundering can implement robust anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks to safeguard national security.
Money Laundering: A Drain on the Economy:
The consequences of money laundering UPSC extend far beyond national security. Here's how it impacts the economy:
Economic Distortion: Laundered money distorts legitimate economic activity by creating an unfair advantage for criminal enterprises. Understanding money laundering empowers future civil servants to create a level playing field for honest businesses.
