i was playing dmc 3 for the first time and i love how ridiculously over the top it is and i wish capcom did the same for resi like obviously not as outlandish as dmc but again the whole like “dark serious tone” of resi remakes just feels weird as a capcom game and it kinda feels like it insists upon itself

resident evil headcanons (restaurant au)
Tumblr media
characters: leon, chris, jill, claire, rebecca, ada, luis, carlos, wesker. a/n: this was created as a joke between me and my friends that completely spiralled out of control. maybe the stupidest au i've ever created. wesker and friends hit me up if you wanna use this warnings: vulgar language. sorry, i'm canadian, we swear a lot here.
chris redfield (bartender): he's one of the first hires, and has been working as the head bartender forever. he absolutely loves to lowkey trauma dump on customers unknowingly, only to shake the mixer after just to avoid the awkward silence. the owner has had to move the tv's out of the way of the bar because chris will only look at the screen and fuck up every single drink during a big game. refuses leon everytime he tries to come up to the bar for drinks. he knows when it's him, leon always tries to input it in the system as a customer order for a table that isn't occupied, but he always orders his whiskey in a very specific way that outs him. chris will pour it out in front of him to make a point. he eventually had to make a memo about not letting leon take drinks from the bar anymore. to customers, he is every older woman's wet dream. he knows that flexing his biceps will rake him in more tips, so he does it often. also does it when women are being hit on by creepy men to scare them away. the night that he wears tight turtlenecks are his big paycheck days. chris will never admit that he likes when people squeeze his arms. chris is the guy that everyone has a crush on when they first start working there, it's basically an initiation rite at this point. he's the friendliest one of the bunch and gives wholesome big bro vibes and it makes him absolutely irresistible to new hires. (x reader) if you're working alongside chris in the bar, prepare to constantly run into him. he's a massive guy, and maneuvering around a little bar with that hunk is near impossible without a couple collisions. after a while, he's learned to put a gentle hand on your back whenever he has to move behind you, all for the sake of "workplace safety". he loves to sneak food from the kitchen and share it with you, but this man eats like a horse. like the chefs are genuinely surprised on how much food this man can physically fit inside his body, but he will always leave a portion for you. it takes him a long time to make a move because he's afraid of ruining your friendship and workplace relationship. leon kennedy (server): he got hired a little after everyone else, and got put onto the waitstaff because of his looks. however, this man is super awkward with patrons despite being super popular with older women. he's always getting propositions to get set up with someone's daughter and he always unknowingly shoots them down. (customer: "you're really cute, leon: "ok.") he always makes little jokes to lighten the mood and it is an instant vibe killer. the only people who like them are the old ladies who think he's cute, and dads who genuinely think he's funny.
as for the whiskey incident, leon has tried multiple times to pretend being a bartender when chris is on break to sneak himself a drink. he claims that it makes him better at serving, but three broken trays and countless shattered glasses say otherwise.
leon does have kind of a blank expression when patrons try and get him to cut them deals or do stuff for them. he will immediately go back and scream by himself in the freezer after a difficult customer interaction. has cried silently in the freezer after food got in his hair. (x reader) leon always smells like american crew hair pomade, and always showers himself in cologne on shifts he knows he's working with you. you smiled at him one time in the middle of a rush and he had to sit on the curb to collect himself. leon has a horrible tendency to get distracted whenever you're in his general vicinity, and will completely ignore customers whenever you walk by with literal hearts in his eyes. he's one of the fastest people to make a move, mostly because he lacks any form of subtlety. he always offers to drive you home, always offers to take you out to dinner after work like you already don't work in food service, and always keeps something in his bag for you. he loves to lowkey fuck with you on shifts, like putting an ice cube down your shirt to make you pay attention to him. jill valentine (hostess):
another og worker, and the most no-nonsense of them all, especially with customers. if the wait time is thirty minutes, then you're waiting thirty goddamn minutes. she does not care who you supposedly know. she has gotten a couple writeups for visibly rolling her eyes when large parties come in without a reservation. jill demands a break every thirty minutes to sit with chris on the curb while he smokes a cigarette. she calls it her mental health breaks.
pointedly does not listen to leon when he asks her to stop seating people in her section. her favourite past-time is to seat all the old women obsessed with him at his tables to watch him flounder. also gives leon's number out to people who try and hit on her at the job. she's also the only person who can scare the owner, so jill gets away with a lot more than most people. her and carlos often hang out after shifts to drink beer and play pool. her and claire have regular girls nights where jill's convinced into facemasks and terrible movies that only have a one star rating on whatever pirated movie website claire pays for. (x reader) every attempt you make to ask her on a date goes completely over her head. it's only at chris' intervention that she finally gets the hint and takes you out to dinner. she ends up having her own shelf of stuff at your apartment within a week, and she's more than happy to drive you to work everyday. if you have a pet, prepare for jill to come over to spoil it rotten and feign ignorance when you confront her about it. another victim of the 'takes extra long to get ready on shifts you work together'. she knows you like her arms, so she's wearing short sleeves or tanks whenever she has the opportunity, and silently preens in your attention. carlos, (line cook):
without a doubt, the line cooks are the vibe bringers of the restaurant. carlos always takes a hit off his dab pen before coming in, because he claims it makes his cooking taste better. he always gives food to the female servers at any given opportunity, and pretends to not know what the male servers are talking about when they bring it up. (is the reason for 90% of the memos regarding workplace behaviour).
carlos always smells like old spice and food, and there is almost nothing that could break his good mood during a shift. he really is just happy to be there. he's very particular on how the freezer is organized, but loved to label the items wrong to piss off the others (spinch). his mother taught him how to cook, so he has a dedicated dish named after her. carlos always comps her meals when she comes in and doesn't tell anybody about it.
as for the other employees, carlos torments them. he loves to play his own music in the kitchen but has a wildly inappropriate taste for work music. chris banned him from the speaker officially after only playing doja cat for three hours. however, him and luis love to carpool and play brazilian funk with all the windows rolled down at max volume. those two are not allowed to work together too much. he also has a mobile game rivalry with leon, so anytime carlos is missing from the kitchen, you'll find him in the bathroom on his phone. just follow the shitty iphone game music.
(x reader) in all honesty, carlos is the man that's hooked up with the most employees. the mans charm is undeniable. but he has a particular soft spot when it comes to you-- you get to taste-test every dish, there's always a nice cold glass of water waiting for you, and carlos will take the fall for every fuckup at your table. he'll introduce you to his mom when she comes in, but is secretly terrified at how well the two of you get along. don't even get him started on bringing his siblings into the place, he would never hear the end of it. carlos received another memo after engaging in too much pda at work after the two of you got together.
claire redfield (waitress):
one of the main reasons for all the positive google reviews. it's not that she's naturally a super bubbly person, but claire knows how to turn it on and off when her shift starts. jill puts most of the families in her section since claire has a natural gift with kids. however, she is extremely biased when it comes to the food. her face always tells you exactly what she thinks of a dish.
since chris is always within eyesight of her, whenever difficult customers give her problems, she loves to sic chris on them. even just having him stand behind her is enough to give her leverage over someone trying to haggle on a bill. and with carlos' willingness to give food to pretty girls, she never goes hungry during a shift. the girl has her whole shift figured out on a system. she also knows exactly when the lull in service is going to be so she can take extended bathroom breaks.
out of everyone, she's the one to organize after-work hangouts, whether by putting gentle reminders into the group chat, or straight up bullying people to come (ie. jill). everyone always knows when she pulls up from the sound of her engine, but she refuses to let anyone on it. especially luis or leon, for insurance reasons.
(x reader) this girl has the uncanny ability to know what you need, and when you need it. forgot an iced tea for table 20? it's already in her hand on the way. it's her nice little way of showing what a good girlfriend she would be, that she can anticipate your needs. for every group hangout, you are the first person she texts and the primary benefactor of the tips she makes. claire is a no bullshit kind of woman, and when she wants you, you will know. she'll always ask you to hang out, always compliment how you look, tell you constantly how good you are at your job. maybe she'll let you ride behind her on the motorcycle just for the excuse of having your arms around your waist, and does that hot thing where she rubs your arms with her thumb at red lights.
rebecca chambers (head waitress):
dear old rebecca, truly the glue holding everything together. she's incredibly sweet to customers, and to most of the employees. the only reason the floor runs properly is her by the book attitude and highly perceptive personality. nothing is getting by rebecca. she's leon's number two nemesis for being able to drink on the job, and chris' number one nemesis for smoking outside. this woman has the nose of a bloodhound when someone is about to do something stupid.
despite her appearance, everyone is afraid to make her angry. she's lost her shit a total of one time, but it was enough for everyone to be on their best behaviour. she does have a tendency to make passive aggressive comments with such a sickly sweet smile on her face, that you won't even realize she insulted you until long after she's walked away.
least favourite part of the job? she is a hit with old men. they can never leave her alone. second least favourite part? finding ways to sneak vitamins into certain employees food so they can live to see another day. the way that some of the others operate is enough to give her grey hairs.
(x reader) rebecca is intelligent and ambitious, and more than willing to make sacrifices when it comes to you. she's more than happy to take the fall on a screwup if it gets you out of it, wanting nothing more than your smile in return. her main tactic of getting to know you is inviting you over to watch movies, inconspicuously of course, so she can ask you questions over the whole thing. overall, she's an acts of service girl, but is much more subtle about it than claire is. you need a meal prep plan? she's your woman. she wants nothing more than to take care of you, to make your life as easygoing as possible. but the true way to her heart is any form of baked goods. if you make a habit of bringing her pastries before a shift, she's putty in your hands.
ada wong, (head chef):
this woman, god help her, has the hardest job out of them all. not only does she have to babysit her two line cooks, but she's also responsible for cleaning up all the fuckups the waitstaff make. her saving grace is the fact that everyone else is terrified of her, creating a wide berth every time she picks up a knife. everyone can always hear her scolding carlos in the kitchen, who just brushes it off with a laugh.
despite the chaos of a kitchen, ada has the impeccable ability to never get food on herself. even after the dinner rush there is not a single hair out of place, looking just as perfect as when she started. every ingredient is measured precisely, every fda standard met and upheld-- pretty much the counterforce to carlos and luis. secretly, she loves when carlos has control of the speaker, but she would rather die than admit it.
the second an overcomplicated modification comes in, the temperature of the kitchen immediately drops. why the hell does she pore over a menu just for some middle-aged man to think he knows better than her? despite her no-nonsense attitude, she does secretly love fucking with leon. only luis knows about her secret tinder account that she catfished leon on with some fake woman in romania.
(x reader) ada is a woman in tune with herself, in tune with what and who she wants. the second she gets attached, she will display clear favouritism. every new recipe she tries is given to you for taste-testing, claiming that you will always give her the truth. it's a lie, she just like seeing the grin on your face when you enjoy it. if anyone asks her about it, she will vehemently deny it, claiming that you're the only one competent enough at your job. her asking you out is more of a demand than it is a question: this place, this time, wear that dress you know i like. she's not huge fan of pda at the workplace, but she'll always give you that look that screams, just wait until i get my hands on you later.
luis sera (line cook):
this man does not operate on a recipe, he operates on la pasion. really, it just means the foods always a tad spicier than it should be. he also sings obnoxiously loud in the kitchen, to the point that patrons can hear it if they're seated close enough. this man obeys ada for the most part, but he's honestly never touched a measuring cup in his life. he'll stop pouring when his ancestors tell him to stop pouring. however he has the uncanny ability to know exactly when meat is within three degrees of whatever temp they need it cooked to.
the waitstaff either love him or hate him. luis playfully flirts with everyone in his line of sight. who could blame him? he's stuck in a kitchen all day and everyone at this restaurant is unbearably attractive. mostly, he just likes seeing their reactions. leon adamantly begs claire to fetch his plates from the kitchen for him, because luis calls him prince charming every time, and leon hates it.
there's a rumour going around that he got drunk after a shift and made out with another employee, but no one knows who it is. there's a restaurant-wide betting pool on potential victims. also, since luis is the only person who knows about the catfish incident, he loves to ask leon innocuous question while feigning innocence about the whole thing. he's just really invested in his love life, he swears.
(x reader) if you think the flirting is bad towards leon, just wait until he catches an eyeful of you. it is a nonstop barrage of witty compliments, offers to go dancing (or clubbing), and pick-up lines that were definitely picked up off the internet. he's a suave guy, don't get me wrong, but he most definitely gets too many of his ideas from old romance novels. at some point he gives up, telling you straight that he wants to take you out, for reals, and cook you a nice home-cooked meal. maybe some wine. maybe more, if you'll let him. luis is another person who displays clear favouritism, and tries to convince ada into naming a dish after you. it has a horribly cheesy name, but it tastes wonderful and he loves shooting you a wink every time you see him making it (he always makes that dish more carefully than any of the others).
wesker (manager):
this man bought the damn place in a last ditch attempt to save himself from bankruptcy, and unknowingly entangled himself into the lives of the dumbest twenty year olds he's ever met in his life. the only person that he kind of tolerates is ada, because she runs that kitchen like it's the military, and he can respect how batshit terrifying she is. he has a particular vendetta against chris for reasons he can't name, but since chris brings in a lot of money, he can't really refuse. he mostly gets that frustration out by pinning things on chris that leon most definitely did.
he's rarely seen on the actual floor, usually just hanging in the back on the computer doing whatever the fuck he does. (he's playing farmville, but no one knows it's him because of a pseudonym. he also does not know how to turn the music off so if you stand at the right position outside the door you can hear it.)
when he is seen out on the floor, he's wearing the most obnoxious sunglasses and leather jacket known to man, and stalks around the bar to watch for mistakes. you know you fucked up around wesker when there's a sneer on his face. the place almost got robbed once, and wesker threw a punch so fast that everyone stopped trying to piss him off after that.
(x reader) truthfully, he doesn't act too much different around you. it takes months to catch onto the little quirks that show his softness-- just a slight ease in his eyebrow, a softer pitch when addressing you directly. he'll still chew you out for mistakes, but he forgets about it long before he'll let anyone else slide. if things did eventually progress between the two of you, that manager's office is staying locked.
thank y'all for reading! this ended up being way longer than i thought it was going to be lol.

making a luis lives au and having it lead up to re6 so i just want to write down my ideas so far
- ada saves him without a shadow of a doubt. somehow, someway, she gets him off the island and takes him to a hospital to heal while she spends those next couple of months making plans. when luis is properly healed, she would offer one of two options; either work with her or she’ll leave him some things but they have to keep little to no contact. luis obviously goes for the first choice.
- they definitely bond over the course of time they work together from re5 to re6. i like to think their similar backgrounds, history, and goals bring them closer together. luis would always try to find a reason to throw festivities, he’s very insistent on celebrating ada’s birthday or any holiday.
- luis’s nickname for ada is “mariposa” she rolls her eyes every time he says it but she genuinely loves it
- they do a lot of moving around which means time to kill and lots of stories. luis likes to play a game where he tells a story and ada has to guess wether it actually happened or he just made it up. most of the time he’s lying but argues “you never know! maybe someday it will be true!” it makes ada smile. luis tries to make her smile as often as he can.
- luis didn’t change in terms of making jokes. he figures there’s no point in falling to despair when you’ve been given your last chance so he makes the most of it. it annoyed ada at first, thinking that luis wasn’t taking this seriously but upon closer inspection, she realized he’s grown way more cautious than before. she excused some of the teasing after that but never backed down from some back and forth
- ada and luis are like soulmates in the way that they are two sides of the same coin. where there’s one, you’ll find the other. they are connected by coincidence but they treasure it. more than anything, it’s a deep understanding between them. everything they did to survive, to get out of their respective situations, the choices they made, and the loneliness they felt. luis swears that as long as he lives, ada will never feel alone again. ada says likewise. both of them mean it with their whole heart.
- under NO circumstances can leon learn that luis survived. it’s a depressing truth they both understand that if leon got the smallest hint of luis’s survival that he would begin a manhunt to find him. they have too much work being carried out that cannot be compromised. that doesn’t stop luis from searching for leon’s name in government files or papers, he keeps up to date with anything where he’s involved. what can he say? the knight misses his prince.
- that being said leon does not handle post valdelobos very well. he still has luis’s lab key which he keeps in a box tucked away somewhere. sometimes the smell of smoke brings him back to spain and the mines where he lost someone he’s grown so close to in just a small amount of time. it shouldn’t break him as much as it does but it’s something that stays in the back of his mind. leon feels like he missed something. that there was an opportunity open to him that he failed to see, it could have been something but now he’ll never know. the door shut in his face just when leon realized what was being offered to him.
- once he saw don quixote displayed on a bookstore window with a lovely red cover and bought it immediately. it sits on his shelf collecting dust, leon hasn’t had time to read it or so he says.
- the trio do reunite in re6 but more importantly, luis catches wind of some of the stunts leon had been pulling and their first interaction after years was luis marching up to leon as he backs into a wall. luis is shouting in spanish, probably complaining about leon not prioritizing his own safety, then switching to english so he can yell in a language leon understands. it was here that he catches leon’s face. he’s so much older now, worn out like leather. leon looked exhausted but he also seemed so amazed? confused? whatever it was, he looked softer now and his eyes widen a little. he simply says, “you’re alive?”

okay guys
I know we’re all different people and every one of you deserve to be with Leon S(ex) Kennedy…
but what kind of person would be his soulmate?
like the one person he just can’t stop thinking about? the type of person he has a photo of in his wallet. the type of person he always thinks about to keep him sane through whatever mission he goes through.
would this person be quiet? loud? scary when mad?
would they be younger or older?
would they be great at cooking or better at baking?
let’s forget about Claire and Ada and Luis and Chris and whoever else he’s shipped with and think about who his perfect person would be.
who would GENUINELY make this poor man so happy that he looks at his job and goes, “yeah, I’ll save the world for them”
also thank u guys I LOVE u for the interactions !

Luis Serra and his use of false bravado
I'm writing a fic right now that requires a pretty in-depth character analysis of Luis, and I wanted to talk about one of my favorite things about him, which is his use of false bravado to get out of sticky situations, and the expressiveness he displays in the moments in between.
We talk a lot about Leon's micro-expressions when he's trying to hide his feelings, which don't get me wrong, I LOVE to analyze, but Luis has such telling expressions as well, and we should talk about it! (I also saw some gifs of Luis's expressions being modded onto Leon and THAT got attention but... neither here nor there).
To me, it always looks like he's using an almost silly amount of swagger when he interacts with others to portray his confidence, and he barely ever lets that wall down. Unlike Leon and Ada, he's a civilian, but he jokes around and flirts every time he's in front of them, despite being in situations where he really should be behaving more like Ashley, like when he narrowly avoided being tortured to death and he's just like "nice, cigs"
Tumblr media
We as the audience are only privy to his mask slips in 3 different types of situations, as far as I can tell:
When he feels like his luck is about to run out: he goes from acting confident to suddenly displaying a lot of fear on his face, while he wildly casts around for something to say to help him out. In both of these instances, he completely regains his bravado once he thinks he's safe again, i.e. when Ada saves him from the torturers, or when he realizes Ada knows who Leon is. This is also just kind of adorable. Watch the way his face falls when he realizes Ada is mad, and then the way he flounders when she points her gun at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. When no one else is looking: This one stood out to me from the very beginning because he's actually still speaking with confidence as he explains that the plaga can be removed, but Leon and Ashley can't see his face, where he's clearly showing his trepidation, his guilt about them being infected, etc. and then notice how he goes right back to smiling and confident when he turns around to face them again.
3. When he feels concern for others: Luis is an extremely caring person, and one of the most common moments where he lets his mask slip is when someone else is in danger. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is his reaction to the medicine being destroyed, but I also want to draw attention to the look on his face when Ada is in danger and she tells him to leave her. And I know I included him looking away from Leon and Mendez in a previous post but here's a higher quality gif so you can really get your heart broken by how scared he looks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, I just love the little things that make up characters in this game. I also have analyses about Ada and Ashley that you'll probably get whether you want it or not because I love them, and their characterizations are so interesting.

The main reason I dislike aeon so much is particularly because capcom has this strange thing that they do where they don't really show us how in love they are, they TELL us. If your characters were genuinely as in love and enthralled with each other as you say they are, we wouldn't need every character they interact with to TELL us they're in love.
i.e: "sounds like you know her well" from RE4R, "you have feelings for her dont you?" from RE6, "I can't believe i actually miss her" from RE2R, etc
You do not need to constantly vocalize how in love they are if they're truly in love and the games do it so much that it becomes repetitive. Someone's always asking Leon about Ada and TELLING him his feelings for her instead of us being shown that hes longing for and pining for her.
And this doesnt work specifically because of Leon's dry, cynical attitude toward Ada even in the original games. Their chemistry doesn't actually start working (in a sense) until RE6 but in 6 its basically forced down the players' throats.
Not to mention (especially in the 4 remake) Ada has a very odd boredness around Leon that people claim she uses as a way to hide her feelings for him. But I bring you this as a counter: her attitude toward Luis in the Separate Ways DLC.
Ada shows more genuine joy and emotion around Luis than she does toward Leon (even in the other games (maybe beside 6)). At one point she even giggles and smiles at him (which she has NEVER done to Leon):
She is constantly angry and exasperated with Luis the same way she is with Leon but the difference is that it doesn't feel as mocking toward Luis as it does Leon. She softens a lot easier around Luis even in their very limited screen time and interactions.
She has only ever ALLOWED Luis to touch her. With Leon, SHE is the one dictating the interaction and how its going to work. With Luis, she is less harsh about it and actually allows him to support her and help her in a way Leon has not.
(NOTE THE CLOSENESS ADA IS ALLOWING FROM LUIS,)
Tumblr media
(1 video per post limit ugh)
(VS HOW IMMEDIATELY SHE BRUSHED LEON OFF.)
Tumblr media
She is very adamant about keeping Leon very far at arm's length and that COULD be because she has repressed feelings for him but it NEVER comes off that way. She is much more vibrant and emotional around Luis which we NEVER get to see around Leon. She's somewhat flirty and joking around Leon but not in the same way she is with Luis.
Aeon (imo) feels forced. Like capcom is TELLING us "hey, theyre meant for each other" when its not VISIBLE and not FELT like Leon/Ada's interactions are with other characters. Leon has more chemistry with Chris in Vendetta ALONE than he has with Ada. They feel meant for other characters but theyre being forced together in a way that feels clunky and badly written.
AND ANOTHER THING:
Capcom CANNOT just allow Ada to be a character without attaching her to Leon. Leon has his own arcs and development but she feels (ESPECIALLY IN THE OLD GAMES) like an accessory to him in the way her story and arc almost always completely revolve around him.
The Separate Ways DLC was changed SO much and it seems like they were trying to remedy it but even STILL she was constantly being stuck back to Leon and unallowed to have her own growth. She is the same old Ada because she can't become a different Ada if she's still attached to Leon's hip in the way capcom DESPERATELY needs her to be. The only biohazard movie she shows up in is Damnation and she's STILL Leon's little "femme fatale shadow of his past" character that i HATE. She disappears at the end of the movie and thats the LAST that we see of her.
I'm not saying that shipping aeon is like devil sent or the worst thing ever or anything, im just saying that (in my personal opinion) it doesnt work the way that most people think it does. Their relationship feels very surface level and forced. My biggest example of this is the kiss in RE2R. I've always had a problem with this scene particularly because aeon crusaders use it as a "GOTCHA!" moment to prove that theyre in love.
HOWEVER.
Ada seems disingenuous and Leon doesnt look overcome with love. Ada does this--not as impulse--but as a calculated move to catch Leon off guard and manipulate him into doing what she NEEDS him to do. It is her act of duty because she is immobile, injured, and a liability. She needs to act fast. So she does.
Leon does not react with wonder. He reacts with confusion. He does not look in love. He moves on from it very quickly. He appears to be questioning her and himself immediately after it is over. He does not react.
Tumblr media
That is abject confusion.
I cannot say the same for the og re2 cause the graphics are pixels and the VA work is so bad that its hard to tell any emotion from it. But I can say in confidence that the kiss scene here does not seem to represent love at first sight.
The love at first sight trope is extremely difficult to pull off correctly and capcom had a good foundation for it... but not for Ada and Leon.
For Leon and CLAIRE.
They're much more involved together in RC in the original RE2 and the Darkside Chronicles and MUCH less present in the remake but STILL. The remake manages to capture a tenderness and genuine affection between them that Ada/Leon don't have in this game (or the others for that matter). The way they set up the Ada/Leon "romance" here is very strange. Like theyre trying to reassure us that theyre interested in each other without actually doing the emotional groundwork to prove it.
What particularly drives me crazy is that Aeon is in retrospect a very toxic ship that doesnt work between either of them. Ada treats Leon like a constant: "i dont have to work on this because he'll always be here waiting for me." And Leon always comes out of the otherside of their interactions worse off than he entered (think about the transition in his appearance and mental state from RE6 to Vendetta: the loss of weight, sarcastically dark hair, HEAVY alcohol use, increased suicidality) and of course this is affected by outside trauma as well, but it also has to do with Ada and her lingering influence on him that capcom must have in every game she appears in. It drags him down, makes him worse, and he never gets closure.
Ada also never gets closure because she pulls away before she can to avoid it for as long as possible. Which then just boils their dynamic down to "this is mysterious because we never communicate or accept each other into our lives" which in addition to the awful emotional layout capcom has done, just makes the ship extremely frustrating. And not in a slow burn "JUST KISS ALREADY" way. In a "can this please just be over already" kind of way.
I could go on about this all day but I'll shut up now lest the aeon shippers hear me from afar and come to rip my throat out
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Yes this is just my opinion. No i dont care if you ship aeon. No im not expecting to convert people or change your mind.

My Ex Girlfriend Is Still Hot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being recommended this place was good, apparently they can fix any vehicle at a cheap price, but it's not the cheapness that first attracted Leon into this place. It was seeing his ex-girlfriend covered in oil. It had been years since he had seen her, she looked older, but that that didn't reduce his love.
content: angst, fluff and smut
notes: afab fem!reader x leon, reader is divorced mom, mentions of leon's situation-ship with ada, reader is mean to leon (he kinda deserves it), fixing old relationships, baby!, leon is in love with the past, mentions of leon's unhealthy coping mechanisms. the smut is kinda fluffy. this took forever. rewriting and writing again. blah, anyways, minors, um, be care what you read. don't interact, the standard stuff, sorry. also, um, i don't know how this was. it felt rough, sorry. not prove read and... it's long
part one (here)
taglist: @argreion
He was tired. Leon couldn't deny that his 'exciting' life had bored him and broken him up. It was always issue one or issue two causing problems, but he won't think about it.
All he wanted to do now was fix his poor bike that got destroyed after his fight with Maria. His body was still sore from his body being infected, from his body being hit once again. He stepped out of Chris's truck and entered the garage to fix his favorite vehicle. A teenager was flicking through his phone; the kid was kind of covered by oil stains. Eh, he is willing to trust Claire's recommendations of fixing cars. The kid looked old enough, probably fourteen or fifteen to handle himself here.
"Um, hey." He put his hands on his jean pockets, Leon cleared his throat a bit, "I'm guessing you aren't the owner, huh?" The kid slowly looked up at Leon, he looked annoyed as hell to see him, "Duh." He put his phone back in front of his face. Leon cleared his throat again, "Well, is the owner here, kiddo?"
"Mom!" The kid yelped loudly.
Leon pursed his lips together. This kid had lungs. He heard boots approaching them, a woman appeared, "Sorry about the wait." Her hands grabbed a rag and cleaned her hands up. In that exact moment, Leon immediately recognized her- it felt like a one of those smacks he was used to. Her eyes went on the ground for a bit before looking at his eyes.
"So, how can I help you?" She put her hands on her waist. Leon swallowed his spit that was forming on the back of his throat, "Oh, I was..." What the hell? Was he returning back to his stupid roots when he was always awkward with women. He pressed his lips into a line, his mouth now felt dry as hell, "My bike... it needs to be fixed." Finally. Those poor words seemed to struggle to even pop out of his throat.
She nodded her head, "Yeah, can I see the... damage, jeez." Her eyes widen at the extent of the damage, pieces of the bike were dangling and sections of it was scrapped up and turned into a small balls of metal.
Did she recognize Leon?
Stupidly, that was he first question when she tilted her head to see the damage from bellow. She turned to see her... son. Gosh, Leon just connected the points that this kid was actually her son.
"Hey, bring me the gloves," She cleaned her already dirty hands with her black tank top, "There are on top of engine I just bought." With every word she spoke, Leon recalled how much he adored her.
The kid nodded his head and hurried to another room leaving Leon alone with you Her eyes met his, "Are you sure you wanna fix it up?" She put her hands on her waist, "Everything will have to be replaced, and..." Her eyes trailed off to the room where her kid went, "I can promise cheap, but this baby needs all whole bath on oils."
Leon nodded his head. "Yeah, it's one of my favorites."
She looked back at him, a certain similar twinkle was in her eyes, "Oh, curious, you have more?" Leon felt his heart freeze for a second, "Yeah," Leon muttered softly, "My friend, Claire made me like motorcycles." Leon knew it. He knows she recognizes him, but she making herself like she doesn't remember. Before he could comment her child came back with the gloves, she put them on and got on top of truck, she sat on the edges of the truck and moved the bike around.
"So, how much will it cost me?" Leon asked her.
"By the way you treated her, I want to say 100k, but," She jumped off, "You are lucky I have spare pieces everywhere in this shop. The engine, the clutch, the starting gear- everything got broken one way or another." She took off her gloves for a second, "So, it'll be 20 something. The bike looks from this year so it's pieces might be a little expensive or further on."
Leon nodded his head, "Y-yeah, okay."
Her kid and she got on top of the truck and carefully unloaded it to the ground. Leon swallowed, seeing her get dirty was something he never expected from her. Leon helped her down this time, her hands grabbed his arms to assure a safe fall. "It'll take a while to patch her up." She said. Leon smiled, "You do remember me." He whispered.
She rolled her eyes, "You..." She fell into his trap. Trusting his hands on her body would be a red flag to anyone, but for her... it was normal. Seventeen years without seeing each yet, his touch was normal... still normal. "I hate you, Leon Scott Kennedy." She pushed his hands off her waist. Leon tsked his tongue, "I know you do." He can't even deny it. Yet there was a nice feeling. That sense of comfort he never apparently lost.
She gave him her back, "I'll finish the motorcycle as soon as I can." She muttered softly. Leon felt his body hurt, this feeling was always so familiar. The bittersweet feeling of appreciation. Leon stepped forward without thinking, "I'm sorry." He muttered softly. She gave him the finger.
Leon clenched his jaw. "Are you married?" Leon muttered again in his low voice. "I'm sorry for touching you-"
"I'm not married, and my status shouldn't matter to you." She snapped back. Leon nodded his head. He used to not super care if married women threw themselves at him, but hearing those words made a huge pillow to the fall. Hearing her angry was something Leon barely heard from her. But that's what happens when you just leave.
Her son kept an eye on Leon now.
"Is the kid mine?" He whispered softly.
All he was met with was a witch's laugh, you couldn't stop laughing at his utter audacity. "Y, you think I would just have your child and not tell you?" You turned around, you couldn't even see him in this exact second, but it was your job now tying you to him. You could reject fixing his motorcycle. Though, that will make you weak. He left and you are still crying over the past.
"When I heard about what happened in Raccoon City, I thought you died," You licked your lips, the nerves were shaking every detail of your mind, "Not even a letter, a phone call, a fax." Your hands went towards your face and gently rubbed the veins that were slowly popping. "I waited for two years. You know, like a fucking idiot."
The shop was silent. Everyone couldn't look at each other and... once again your dumb feelings got in the way.
"Then, I find out you saved the president's daughter. That was the only damn news I got from you and it was thanks for the government." You turned around angrily. Finally, those tears began to form under your eyes, it was frustrating seeing that idiot with a smile. You only knew Raccoon City got infected, you knew they bombed it and after nothing. Maybe you were selfish. But... didn't you have that right?
Those feelings. Those damn feelings.
"What was the reason's name?" You asked softly.
Leon blinked.
"Name?"
"What was the person who stole your heart? Made you forget about the people you knew in college? The people in our town?"
Leon swallowed. Would you even understand what he went through? Seeing those mountains of dead bodies forming because he accidentally helped Ada? He wanted to help people so badly that he had forgotten the life he once lived. He was a hockey player who lived with his grandmother until she died when he was nineteen. Yet... was he even that guy anymore?
Apparently, the only person who knew him from the past was you. Only you.
"If I tell you, you won't believe me." Leon sighed, his blue eyes met yours, and a sad smile appeared in his lips. "A little girl named Sherry." He crossed his arms against his chest.
"Yeah, was that an excuse to never call for the last couple of years?" You retorted back. "Leon, you didn't leave for a couple of days or weeks. You were gone for six years until I knew you were alive and another couple of more years happened. You left for seventeen years."
All those years passed, yet Leon couldn't stop looking at you. He nearly forgot your details. Even if you are angry with him, he is happy to remember your face and your voice.
"Sorry." Apparently, that made you angry. You didn't mean to, but sometimes you didn't know how much you dealt with him.
-
You refused many times to see him as you fixed his bike, and Leon was trying to fix what he broke. He wanted to ask about your child, who just played with his phone and sometimes helps.
He wanted to ask about your old marriage.
Leon just sat down beside your son, "So, your mom-"
"Not talking to you." The kid immediately said. Leon nodded his head, "About your mom or about everything?" Leon asked politely.
"Everything."
Great. This kid is stubborn. Leon began to tap his thighs, he can try to ease up the kid and get what he wanted. What do kids think is cool? Gun? Zombies? That was Leon's life in a nutshell. "Alright, I'll tell you about me." He sighed softly. "I'm Leon Scott Kennedy. I was born in 1977, my parents died in a car crash, and I was raised by my grandma." Wow, he truly barely spoke about his past until now.
"I met your mom in high school, but I properly knew her when I went to her work." He could easily now remember how you asked for orders, and Leon mumbled a shy, "Milkshake."
"She... she wasn't my first love, but she slowly turned into my first." Leon sighed softly. He smiled. He couldn't get rid of those feelings, but that sad feeling came into his mind. She was his first love, and he nearly forgot about her.
"When I went to Raccoon City, I thought about your mom. She thinks I didn't, but I did." He muttered softly. He leaned back to the chair, "But once you see your first death, it's not even a normal death," Leon chuckled bitterly, "A zombie eating a person up. Zombies are trying to desperately kill you." He clenched his jaw as he thought about his shitty life.
"I know I should've called. I should've called her and told her I was fine, but I wanted to be a hero so badly. I volunteered to be one of their guys to be trained..." He closed his eyes. He could've just gone home. Gone back to your arms and forget, but it was too late to defend himself.
"I had a girlfriend - Ada, when I was in that life." Leon muttered softly, "I was desperately trying to search your mom in her." Poor Ada. Having to deal with his dumb issues, he caused himself.
"I got angry at her for not being her. I remember when she betrayed me, I was shocked because I knew your mother would never." He rubbed gently his wrist.
The kid turned to see Leon. It's as if Leon could feel the judgment of the kid, "I don't know what to say." The boy turned off his phone.
Leon nodded his head, "Your mom is allowed to hate me." He whispered softly, "I fell in love with another woman that wasn't her yet I begged her to be... her." Leon rubbed his mouth firmly. He wanted to shut the hell up. He didn't want this kid to actually have a valid reason to hate him.
"Don't be like me, kid." Leon muttered softly.
"Wasn't planning on it."
He heard footsteps and saw a guy with silver hair, "Um, hi." Leon crossed his legs. The kid groaned. Before Leon could wonder why your kid would groan at him, the kid muttered the word, "Dad, what are you doing here?"
What? This is the guy you married?
"Don't give me that look, it's the weekend, it's time for you to be with your dad."
Your son stood up. "I'll tell mom-" Before your son could mutter another word, you were already near the door. "Yeah," You forced a smile, "Don't worry about me, kiddo. Just go with dad. You have fun with him." You kissed your son's cheek. The son stood up straight and went outside with his father. Leon and you were only in your shop.
He sighed and you groaned.
"I didn't say anything." Leon defended himself. You turned to see him, "I know, I know your little mind is trying to figure out my life." You turned away from Leon and looked as your child left with his father. Your hands fumbled nervously to your pants' pockets, "The bike is almost done." You whispered softly.
Leon swallowed weakly, "T-that's good."
A small pregnant pause made the two think your life's. Thinking it through in all those picky details that you once not thought about. You are happy with your life, yet you wondered what would've happened if Leon stayed. Leon wasn't happy, but he accepted those details. He thought about him probably being the divorced husband. It was a bitter thought. You deserved a person who would stay with you. Not an unstable guy who was a functional alcoholic until now.
Leon stood up silently and looked at you.
You saw him.
"I'm sorry for leaving." He whispered softly.
"For fuck's sake," You laughed bitterly feeling all those same emotions, "I doubt you missed me, but I missed you." Leon's hands cupped your face, he didn't mind the oils or anything anymore. Sure, his ex girlfriend is still hot, but she looked so beautiful right now.
"I wished I did miss you, but I know I would've been worse." Leon muttered softly. He couldn't even imagine him living his life. He already hated his shitty life and remembering he failed you. But... he still did fail you.
Leon's eyes soften, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He leaned to finish the gap and kissed you. The kiss felt desperate from the two of you. You held him tightly as his lips moved against yours, very politely put his tongue between you two. You slowly pulled away from the kiss; the small feeling of feeling pathetic grew. So many years away from each other, yet his hands belong in your hips.
"I'm dirty." You whispered softly.
His heart clenched. He felt so stupid loving you even more with that simple mutter. "A date." Leon held your hands with his. "I need a date with you. Just you and me."
You couldn't help but laugh a bit.
Was it bad that nothing really changed between you two?
-
The date was in your house. You doubt this date will grow into a relationship, and it would be foolish if it did. Leon was still wearing a normal jacket and shirt underneath it. You prepared food and you two ate. He asked about your child, you answered, but you couldn't ask him about his life outside of you. He didn't want to make you know.
You washed the dirty dishes as Leon looked at you.
What if...
A married couple just enjoying time with each other, holding and appreciating each other. Leon sighed softly, "I love you." He whispered softly. "Thanks." You laughed softly. Your hands felt nervous, trembling a bit as they grabbed the rag to dry up the dishes. You had a question and you hoped he'll answer it.
"Who is Ada?"
Leon's breathing stopped, "Ada?" You heard his conversation with your kid. Your eyes fell down, "Was she important?"
He didn't like the next words coming to his mouth, "Yes, she was." Leon won't lie about that. Ada was the most normal thing in his life. Ada was more in his life than you ever were. You temporarily closed your eyes and felt the small buzzing feeling in your heart.
"I was truly stupid one, huh? Waiting for you." You turned to see Leon.
Leon looked down at his lap. He didn't know how to comfort you, and it felt like a horrible task.
The last time he saw you came into his mind.
You were kissing him repeatedly, and less than twenty-four hours, Ada Wong kissed him, and he couldn't say anything. It wasn't his fault for failing you there. But what came after... it was his fault.
"I fucked up." Leon forced himself to look at you, "I know I did, but you having your child. Having a life without me," Leon stood up, "Don't regret that." In the end, he got what he deserved. Then, for a moment, the idea of you being in Raccoon City, you dying... He would've hated himself even more.
Leon caressed your face again, "Please, I don't want you to regret your life."
"I just hate you." You mumbled pathetically.
"Then, hate me."
Leon and you looked at each other for a while. Before you can say anything else, Leon dropped to his knees and unbuttoned your jeans. "Hate me." His hands rubbed gently your thighs, the softness of your body remained, and he loved it. Being between your thighs was his heaven. He always thought of that. His tongue licked them a bit, and he gently opened your legs open and looked up at you.
Your breath was shakey for a bit before he licked your pussy. His breath and a bit of his teeth was felt, you shivered weakly, but he made the feelings grow a bit more. His hands traced your butt and went underneath your underwear to hold you tightly. His tongue slowly began to lick your folds, gently flicking his tongue in your opening.
"Leon-" Your voice was a different tone of pathetic.
Leon felt himself growing. Your taste... God, your taste... Leon looked up at you again and grasped your butt harsher.
He sucked a bit on your clit. He needed you so badly. You were his first love. You were his first everything.
His hands slowly pulled down your panties. He wanted to avoid crude language in a way. He wanted this to be romantic. He licked a line in your opening. His tongue flirted with your opening until the tip of his tongue was inside of you. You gasped weakly, "Leon..."
Your arousal made Leon grab you harsher. Holding you tightly as his tongue flicked in and out of you. Sucking your pussy and feeling safe again. Your legs almost failed you, and he grabbed you. His tongue moved a bit, sucking and licking your pussy. A small growl escaped his lip, licking your cunt was his only goal right now. You gasped weakly. You couldn't speak properly, but all Leon did was shoved himself deeper.
Your hands grabbed his hair, "Le- Leon." You gasped.
He looked at you, "I love you." Leon muttered softly before kissing you gently. He stood up and held you. "I love you." He kissed your cheek gently. Your eyes closed tightly, feeling exposed, "Can we go to my room?" You asked. Leon nodded his head, he lifted you up in ease. You kicked down your jeans and panties, you needed to remember to pick those up later. Leon walked upstairs, his eyes were focused on you and on his destination.
Slowly and gently placed you on the bed, Leon smiled at the view, "Always beautiful." He muttered softly.
Your head turned away, your cheeks were feeling that flushing sensation. All your blood was on your face with those simple words.
Leon grinned. His fingers quickly unbuttoned his jeans. His hands rubbed his cock, "Do, do you have a condom?" Leon asked softly. You shook your head, you haven't had a one night stand for so long that you didn't have the things ready.
He pouted, "Guess we are doing the college route." The quick fuck and the slip it out.
Leon slid down his boxers, his hands grabbed his cock, "I got better with the pull out." He promised you.
"Sure." You couldn't help but chuckle.
He pressed the tip of his cock on your folds. Leon bit on his lower lip and rubbed his pre cum around your clit. You whined, "L-Leon..." Leon growled softly, "Missed my pretty girl." His cock moved around your folds until he pressed it against your clit. The pre cum was spilling pathetically, Leon's free hand grabbed your hip that kept twitching.
Begging.
Slowly, the tip of his cock opened you up. Your hole was ready for him, he pushed himself deep and deep. Slow and gentle for you.
It had been a while since you slept with someone. Your hands patted your bed and grabbed your covers, "Fuck." Even your voice was pathetic. A pathetic whine that made Leon growl, he pushed his hips until all of him was in you. Your warmth made him want to cum. "I love you." Leon whispered softly.
He began to move, his hips moved away and in; Leon leaned close to you and gasped his air into your lips. His hands caressed your thighs and forced them a bit more open, Leon wanted you.
Leon was never meant to be a rough lover. His stupid life made his mind think everything was cruel, but your whines made him want him to nicer. Leon's eyes met yours. His hips moved faster. Those small facial reactions, your eyes wanting to close and the way your nose twitched a bit.
His hands gently folded your legs against your stomach.
Those small sexual noises were small plops. His hand grabbed your face and caressed your cheeks and neck. He was gone for so long and...
"Why- why are you crying?" You asked.
Leon didn't even notice it. He smiled, "I, I d-don't know." His hand traveled down your hips and caressed your stomach. The new and old details of your skin just made him miss you despite having you close.
Your hands caressed his cheeks and pulled him close. Those gentle kisses were he can melt and turn into nothing. His thrusts turned faster now, he sucked your bottom lip and pulled away. "I need you." Leon muttered weakly. His hands grabbed your hips and thrusted faster. You grabbed the back of his head, "I need you too." You agreed with his words.
Was it lust? Was it the painful feeling of being separated away?
This felt odd. Even the sex you once shared with each other never felt this desperate.
He wasn't going to pull out. His empty promise showed more as he growled weakly, "I have to..." Leon looked at you again and kissed you. His tongue entered your mouth, he licked evert detail... begging. Needing.
Leon groaned and finally came. You hissed softly as you finished as well. He didn't know what else to do but hug you. He didn't want to leave anymore.

Chapter 8: The Chantry
He should’ve known you would be sharp enough to pick up on his remark about the suitor back at the cafe. Damn him and his big mouth. Well, you would’ve gotten wind of it somehow anyway, especially since Wesker had put you on this case with him too.
You waited patiently for his answer, as you saw a range of emotions sweep across Leon’s face. Unlike his compatriot, Luis, he was not a great talker. You’d experienced that first hand when he tried to reveal his nature to you.
“I don’t know who he is exactly, but most likely a higher-ranking Anarch,” he divulged, eyeing you intently to gauge your reaction. “The guy wanted to use you as a way to bring the East Side under their domain.”
A bunch of mixed feelings churned within you as you lamented the fact that just when you were beginning to reach an understanding with the man, fate decided to throw another roadblock in your path. “So, you Embraced me first to prevent that,” you deduced, the hurt in your voice evident as you made the following observation, “Was I just some political tool to you?”
“No, angel—” he caught himself as he accidentally let slip his term of affection for you. “You have never been, and will never be, a tool to me.”
Reaching over, he laid his hand protectively atop yours, tracing delicate patterns across its back. To his surprise, you didn’t berate him for using that pet name, nor did you shy away from his touch. Perhaps you had given in, your fire extinguished to smoky cinders.
“You know I feel a great deal for you… and regardless of what you may think, I’ve always wanted you to have a say in your Embrace,” he reiterated undeniably.
You bit your lip, still doubtful of his words. “What would you have done if I had said no?”
There was a thoughtful pause before he replied, “Probably be devastated, but I could never force you. Not like that.”
With a bitter laugh, he commented further, “I might’ve killed that son of a bitch before he got to you though.”
All at once, you were reminded of the side that made him inhuman, talking about murder as if it were a normal part of his daily routine. It irked you, but it also comforted you that he would do anything to keep you safe.
“And risk Final Death?” you asked, wondering if he was joking, or if he really would break the last of the Traditions for you. Unless the Prince had issued a Blood Hunt on a specific individual or group of Kindred, he would be forbidden to destroy another of his kind.
“Would’ve been worth it,” he quipped under his breath, his searing gaze unabashedly roaming across your body, following every contour of your silhouette as he admired what was before him.
You wore things differently from his sire, which was all he had ever known. When he reminisced about Ada, bold, bright reds, like a fountain of blood, flooded his mind. Blood which he drank from every Sunday, worshiping martyrs and sacrifices, up until the point he had strayed. Blood which gave him a taste of life and death, anger and passion, lust and love. Blood from a broken hymen on bleached white sheets, like the innocence he’d lost when he stepped into the underworld. Blood drained from a pig to drench him in when he was hazed, the resulting humiliation he had felt after and his reddened cheeks, just like the shame that carved out a hole within him when Ada left. His throat tightened, just like the way her clothes hugged her body like a boa constrictor.
And then there was you, in emerald greens, deep burgundies and swatches of black — duller, yet no less luminescent beneath the surface. Something he had to work for, digging to unearth the gem of humanity he had squandered away over restless nights and bouts of insomnia. Your flowy dress robes and kaftans transported him to gap year adventures under the starry skies in Morocco, sand filling your shoes, and the scorching heat on the desert breeze. He had never been, never left the city since he was turned. But he loved to imagine a future where he could travel there with you. Dancing with wild abandon, in dark kohl eyeliner and that carefree smile. God, that smile… and your fire. You could captivate him for days. He never thought he could feel so intensely for another person again, but he was wrong — and he was glad to be.
From your end, you regarded him with reservation. The love he declared for you bordered on instinctual passion and obsession, and you couldn’t decide if you found it flattering or problematic. As a Toreador by blood, would you end up like him? It was still early days, yet he treated you as if he had been pining after you for a century. You wondered if this was just a temporary, fleeting thing and he would eventually tire of you in time to come.
Almost as though he could read your mind, he broke away, avoiding eye contact with you as he apologized, “Sorry, I, uh, didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.”
Adjusting his collar awkwardly, he cleared his throat, coming back to his senses as he uttered, “We should, um, discuss about the Tremere.”
You nodded in agreement, dabbing your palms against your forehead and cheeks, letting the coolness seep into your warm, flustered skin. “So, I’m guessing you found something?”
“Not quite,” he sighed, gently rubbing the temples at the sides of his head.
Pushing himself up off the couch, he went over to his desk, grabbed a bunch of papers, and handed them over to you. Thumbing through the sheets, you briefly scanned its contents, realizing it was a shift schedule of all the Umbrella scientists based in NEST, as well as a couple of reports, though signed under a different name from the person you were meant to get in contact with.
Ms. Rebecca Chambers. The up-and-coming Tremere prodigy who had recently returned from a stint at the Hartford Chantry, renowned for their work on mind and memory alterations. Like the rest of the clans, the Tremere were a secretive sort, and even more so. They guarded their research and activities closely within their base of operations, known as chantries. Leon had mentioned to you about their adeptness in matters of the blood or ‘Blood Sorcery’ as it was named. They had once been a group of mages who discovered immortality through undeath, though they had wrangled their power at the expense of other Kindred. No wonder Jill had called them ‘ursupers’. You didn’t like the sound of their schemes and ploys either.
“Rebecca’s not in any of the schedules, and there’s no trace of her anywhere, even though she works directly under Wesker,” he put forth. “She’s not even credited in the projects she’s meant to be researching on.”
“It’s all signed off by this guy: Glenn… Arias?” you took a shot at pronouncing his name while flicking through the pages.
“Yeah, that’s her Regent,” he pointed out. “And a jealous one at that.”
“What do you mean?” You stopped rummaging, peering at Leon with a quizzical look.
“Well, word has it that he intends to hold onto his position for as long as he’s unliving. Meaning, capable apprentices are considered a threat to be dealt with,” he expunged.
“But he can’t just make someone relatively high-profile like Rebecca disappear,” you stated, pinching your chin in a thinker’s pose. All this sleuthing reminded you of those classic black-and-white noir films from the 1940s. Pity you were missing the whiskey and cigars.
“Yes, he can,” he insisted, pacing the room like a lead detective hot on the case. “He’s already doing it now — scrubbing out her achievements, making sure she leaves an invisible trail, and hoping that she’ll be forgotten among the sea of neonates who dazzled a little too brightly.”
“And of course the fucker is taking all the credit for her work,” you sneered, disliking this guy already before you even met him.
“Looks like you and I have something in common then,” he noted with a lopsided smile. He hated the man as much as you did. “Unfortunately this leaves us with no choice. If we want to get to Rebecca, then we’ll need to go through the fucker.”
You slumped back into the couch, your weight causing the upholstery to mold to your body. “Gonna need a whiskey beforehand.”
Shaking his head as he laughed, he took a seat on the coffee table directly opposite the couch facing you. “Sure, just be prepared to throw it up an hour later.”
━━━━━━━━━━━
When nightfall came the next day, you found yourself sulking in the passenger seat of Leon’s jeep as he drove towards the northwest of Raccoon City, heading straight into Raccoon Forest. It would be several miles before you’d reach your destination. In the background, grunge rock music from one of the local radio stations played at a low volume through the car speakers. Resting your head against the window, you heard Leon humming along to the melody as he tapped the steering wheel in time with the steady beat of the track.
“Funny, didn’t take you as a rock’n’roll kinda guy,” you muttered, still peering out of the glass pane, unwilling to look at the man who you were dead certain was wearing a giant smirk on his face right now.
“Glad I can continue to surprise you then,” he answered jovially. “I was young and rebellious once you know.”
“You? A rebel? Please…” you scoffed, rolling your eyes so far back into your head you probably could’ve popped them out of your sockets if you wanted to.
Instead of replying, he belted out the chorus lyrics in his annoyingly smooth voice. Frankly, you were a little sore about your exchange earlier back at his place when he had kept his word, and allowed you to have a sip from a cask of fine French whiskey stored in his vitrine. The problem was, he didn’t tell you that it would taste like shit.
Seeing as your undead body wouldn’t be able to digest it, you were prepared to risk throwing up just to have a shot of alcohol running through your veins. However, it turned out that everything except wine would taste like ashes and dirt. You didn’t even need to force yourself to regurgitate the contents; you did it naturally, spewing it out like a spray while Leon howled with laughter. Some fucking joke that was. Asshole.
“Still pissed off, huh?” he questioned. You could sense a hint of remorse in his voice.
“Take a guess.”
You felt his fingers brush against your arm. “Hey, I’m sorry. Sometimes I get a bit carried away,” he whispered apologetically, his tone subdued, as if he was a dog who’d been chastised.
“Mm.” You pursed your lips, shrugging noncommittally.
“If you want, I can teach you how to be able to enjoy things like before,” he offered as a form of consolation. “But to experience the effects of alcohol, you’ll need to drink from the inebriated.”
Finally, you faced him to catch his midnight blue gaze, and he gave a weak smile. “Time for me to get wasted then.”
He took that as a sign that you had forgiven him, and you were back to bantering again. “No drinking on the job,” he warned.
“Yes, boss.”
With that, you turned your attention to the changing scenery outside, which blurred past your window. Gone were the city lights in the distance; you were now deep within the thicket of the forest. Tree branches shaped like claws scraped the sides of the vehicle and peculiar winged creatures flew in and out of the shadows. The only source of light was the car's beam, focused directly on the path ahead. At times, you thought you could make out pairs of glowing red eyes from the bushes in the dark surrounding you. Clutching the door armrest, you felt pinpricks of cold sweat forming on your palms, and you couldn’t wait for this segment of the journey to end.
As you reached a clearing, you saw the pale moonlight gleaming overhead through the clouded sky, its pearlescent light casting a silvery sheen across everything in sight. That’s when you spotted the imposing mansion in front of you as the car made its way up the driveway. There was a bluish tinge to its white-painted exterior, and although the building was well-kept, there was a decaying quality to it, as if it had been abandoned by its owners decades ago. You observed its towering columns and large lancet windows, noting the intricate details carved into the eaves of the roof. Who knew there was a mysterious grand manor situated in the middle of nowhere within the woods? You felt like an extra in a B-movie horror film.
After parking the car, you and Leon hopped out of the vehicle, walking over towards the main entrance of the house. Except for the sound of gravel crunching underfoot, it was eerily silent and nothing stirred. It began to dawn on you why the place was so unnerving: there was no rustling of animals or chirping of insects; it was completely devoid of life.
Spencer Mansion. So, this foreboding construct was Raccoon City’s Tremere Chantry. Perhaps there were worse clans to be part of, you ruminated.
Raising his knuckles, Leon was about to knock on the front doors when they creaked slightly ajar on their own, until a strong gust of wind materialized out of thin air, swinging them wide open as they rattled against the walls of the house. “Nice party trick,” he mumbled sarcastically.
“I heard that,” a voice boomed from the main hall.
The hallway was as opulent and musty as the building's facade, with smooth, spotless marble-tiled floors and a red carpet rolled out from the door towards the stairs. There was an elegant chandelier suspended from the vaulted ceiling, as well as decorative candle stands and sconces in every corner. Despite the multitude of light sources available, the room still seemed dimly lit.
In the center of the carpet stood a woman in a preppy tweed pantsuit, picking at her fingernails as she eyed the two of you haughtily. Even though she was alone, you had the strange sense that there were plenty of others in the room hiding in plain sight, and watching you from the shadows.
“An acolyte,” Leon whispered, making sure he was out of earshot this time.
It was just a fancy name the Tremere gave to a fledgling. Essentially, she was at the bottom rung of the pyramid, a newbie like yourself, and yet she was behaving as if she owned the entire manor.
“The Regent is waiting for you in the bar,” she informed. With a slight, dismissive wave of her hand, she indicated for you to follow her.
“Stick close to me,” Leon instructed, drawing you in until your arm bumped against the side of his chest. “You don’t want to get lost here.”
Definitely not. You’d heard about the chantry traps that the Tremere were famous for, designed to keep out both malicious entities and those unfortunate souls who had accidentally stumbled in, blissfully unaware of the nature of this place. Ending up like them would be worse than a disaster.
As you passed through the main hall, a stately set of doors on your left caught your eye. They were cracked open, and through the gap, you could see two rows of people seated opposite each other at the long cherry wood dining table. A large burlap sack, bound with rope, lay on its surface; whatever was inside squealed and kicked about. You could hear its muffled screams when suddenly, all the diners turned their heads to face you, completely expressionless.
Gasping in shock, you instinctively huddled against Leon’s body, seeking refuge from the chilling scene you had just encountered. He hooked his arm around your shoulder, allowing your head to burrow in the crook of his neck as you continued onwards. An odious grin crept over the acolyte’s face as she witnessed your reaction.
Climbing up the stairs, the whole mansion descended into a torturous maze. It was a nauseating feeling to lose all sense of direction, unable to distinguish where you were or where you were going. Each corridor looked the same; you took countless left and right turns, and it felt as if you were being led around in circles. Even your depth perception was off; objects shifted and merged, and passages stretched and compressed as you walked through them. It became increasingly difficult to judge your distance from anything in sight.
You tried to focus on the acolyte, using her as a beacon to guide you through this complex web. Although Leon was faring better than you, he too appeared to be struggling to keep up with the pace. You were ascending levels only to head back down again, no longer sure which floor of the mansion you were on. Was this some cruel joke she was playing on the two of you, or were they trying to ensure you’d never remember how to navigate a route through the building?
The next time, it was Leon who saw something unspeakable. Red light emanated from a narrow doorway at the side, and within it, a naked man was strapped to a sturdy mahogany chair. His head lolled on his chest and his frail body was bruised and battered. Pieces of his flesh had been carved out in strange shapes; some of the slabs were scattered on the floor. His festering wounds were weeping and if not for his feeble, trembling groan, Leon would have assumed he had been long dead.
“Christ, this is some sick shit,” he hissed under his breath in revulsion. You peered in the direction he had glanced at, but there was only an austere portrait hanging against a blank wall. Were the both of you going mad and imagining things?
Shaking his head, he advised, “You don’t want to go looking for it, trust me.”
At last, the acolyte came to a stop, ushering you into a modest-sized room with checkered tile floors, reminiscent of a chessboard, and an oak bar counter at the side where a clean-cut, impeccably dressed man sat. There was a grand piano facing the bar, and Moonlight Sonata was playing on its keys despite there being no musician present at the instrument.
The room was vacant, apart from the lone person by the bar, whom you presumed was Glenn. He appeared to be a middle-aged man with graying hair and a deep scar across his left eyebrow. His long suit coat was a well-coordinated palette of grays, reds and blacks. As he imbibed the ruby red liquid in his crystal tumbler glass, a dash of it spilled out by accident, though it hovered in the air. Setting the glass down, he sucked it into his mouth with ease; his mouth twisting into a sinister smile.
“Please, make yourselves at home,” he welcomed both of you, gesturing to the unoccupied bar stools before him. Despite his mild mannerisms, his gaze was cold and calculating, honed through years of corrupt transactions and political backstabbing.
When you had settled in, the acolyte closed the door shut, leaving you with the man. It was then that he spoke up again, “There’s no need for pleasantries, so let me cut to the chase. You wish to see Ms. Chambers, yes?”
“On Prince’s orders,” Leon highlighted.
At this, Glenn laughed contemptuously, “I thought you knew better than to use threats against me, Mr. Kennedy.” He extended his gloved finger, wagging it scathingly in front of Leon’s face. “Unlike what the rest of you neonates think, the P-word doesn’t hold much weight here.”
Retracting his hand, he reiterated, “For your sake and the sake of your childe, I suggest you learn to play by my rules.”
You watched as Leon lowered his head in submission as your hatred towards Glenn grew. Were all the Tremere stuck-up assholes? You had a hunch that such behavior was largely shaped by this man himself.
“Excuse my earlier transgression, Mr. Arias,” Leon apologized rather perfunctorily. “Is there something we might offer in exchange for the inconvenience?”
“That’s more like it,” Glenn remarked, curling his finger over his lip as he nodded favorably. “Well, now that you mention it, I suppose there is.”
From under his coat, he pulled out a thin folder of documents, handing it over to Leon. “You see, for some reason, it’s been a tradition in my clan to divide the roles between Regent and Primogen, when really, they could just be handled by the same person.”
“And you want the Primogen title,” Leon surmised.
What else would he expect from a power hungry Tremere, who wanted the best of both worlds? As a Primogen, he would be considered his clan’s representative within the Prince’s Council — the first port of call the Prince would consult on various matters. That, along with being the figurehead of the Chantry, would allow him to elevate his status to what would essentially be a dictatorship within his clan.
“You said that, not me,” Glenn pointed out sneakily. “I’m merely exposing the incompetence of the current appointee.”
He tapped the documents in Leon’s hands. “Anyway, back to business. It’s quite simple, I’d like you to plant these documents in the office of the current Tremere Primogen. Discreetly, of course.”
Pausing for dramatic effect, he drummed his fingers on the counter. “And then we’ll see about your visit with Ms. Chambers.”
“What’s in them?” you questioned abruptly.
His eyes snapped sharply to you. “Oh, so she speaks!” he mocked. “Let’s put it this way, it’s enough to get her for treason.”
You were about to counter with a barbed remark when Leon cut in, talking over you, “Mr. Arias, would you be so kind as to allow my childe and me a few minutes to converse over this matter in private?”
An acerbic smirk appeared on Glenn’s face. “Of course.” He nodded slightly and took his leave.
“So you’re just gonna sit there and accept this slimy motherfucker’s offer?” you goaded, already irritated about being interrupted by your sire earlier.
“Language!” Leon hissed, reproaching you gravely. “The walls have ears.”
This only served to incense you even more, as you slammed your palm on the countertop in defiance. Glenn’s empty glass skittered across its surface, though Leon caught it just in time before it shattered onto the ground.
“You’re condemning an innocent person to Final Death or worse!” you accused.
A dry chuckle slipped from his lips. “Innocent? No one in that sort of position, let alone this world, is innocent.”
For once, you were at a loss for words, only able to articulate how you felt about him in the moment. “You disgust me.”
“Honestly, I disgust myself at times,” he admitted rather self-deprecatingly.
Some part of you could understand that perhaps this was all he knew: lies, deceit, and shady dealings. Could you change that and make him see things from your perspective? You had to try.
Placing your hand over his, you squeezed it, peering into his brilliant blues as you reasoned, “How many compromises are you going to make until there’s nothing left in here?” You prodded his chest gently with your finger, urging him to reflect on what made him human.
“I—” He scrunched up his face, a tormented expression blooming across it as he turned away, unable to look you in the eye. “I-I can’t…” His voice was pinched and strained, as if it would hurt him to utter any more words.
“This is just how it works in the Kindred world,” he asserted, his shoulders slumping in defeat.
Your anger dissipated into pure disappointment, weighing like a stone in your heart. “Keep telling yourself that,” you stated simply as you let him go, resigning yourself to your original position. Coward, you denounced internally.
As if on cue, you heard three sharp knocks on the door before Glenn came back in. “So?” he questioned, glancing over at the two of you in anticipation.
Leon’s features stiffened as he met the man’s gaze head-on. “We accept.”

Aight I come bearing my sleep-deprived Adadan thoughts!
Thinking of their first actually meaningful encounters that probably happen during RE4... Ada is very likely to be at least somewhat aware of who Jordan is - or at least that she definitely has some past history with Wesker - and I bet she's going to subtly poke and prod Wesker about it (going off solely on their RE4R dynamic here btw!). Ada being the most cat-codded character in existence and silently bearing witness to quite a few personal moments between them all... That specific art of her breaking down in Leon's arms got my brain buzzing ngl.
They don't interact directly much. But Ada watches and silently makes her judgements from afar. Now, what if. These two get a single fleeting moment one-on-one. Ada being Ada is as discreet and subtle about her intentions as always, but she throws in a little passive aggressive comment on how Jordan frankly deserves better and she should know it. Cue Jordan probably being very wary and taken aback, because where did that come from? And how does she know? Does she even know? Or is this about something else? Ada does not give any direct answers, just shooting her a coy smile and bidding her goodbye with a sudden flirty quip towards Jordan, maybe even a very brief, fleeting touch before whisking away, leaving poor Jordan as confused and flustered as she's ever been.
Thus sowing the beginning of a very unexpected but pleasant romance between the two
Bonus points if seeing how messed up Jordan is because of Wesker partly plays into Ada's decision to go against him. That's extra yummy
Honestly might or might not come up with more ideas but that's what I have so far!
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD?????? YES?? YES?????
This is actually perfect I have little to nothing else to add onto your little snippet, Jesus Christ amazing writing as usual. Jordan would definitely be really suspicious at first, she’s not like Leon, she knows Ada isn’t a woman to be trusted. I think after that interaction she shakes Leon down for answers, who exactly is that woman? do you know her? what is her deal? she’s kinda pretty.. I imagine Jordan running around having trouble with some of the puzzles and Ada working behind the scenes to help her progress. Ada having random radio transmittions with Jordan every so often to flirt and give her a tip on Ashley’s whereabouts, maybe even subtly warn her of Wesker’s plans and presence. I don’t know! but eeeee these ideas are so yummy
Also AGAIN thank you for blessing me with this because I’ve actually been meaning to make a comic between these two and their interaction in Re4 and this gave me a good basis for that idea EEEE

Going to ramble about RE2R Ada again because she is just so genuinely fascinating to me. It's so very interesting that Ada goes back on her initial decision to have Leon help her out and tells him to get out one last time, when he finds her injured in the sewers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She does this after going all in on her lie, mind you. Their relationship is legitimately so fun to pick apart, and the way Ada keeps bouncing back and forth between taking advantage of Leon's drive to help and urging him to prioritize himself is interesting to think about.
So many talk of their interactions in RE2R as solely Ada maliciously manipulating him, when in text it's... honestly not at all like that? At least not as surface-level.
Up until their encounter with Kendo, she constantly tells him to get out and refuses to engage with him. It is only when he basically offers himself to her on a silver platter does she makes the choice to actually use him to her advantage. Which does not make any of her future lies or actions okay in any way, obviously, but it is interesting how she never once pushes him into following her up until that very moment.
She's dismissive and irritated with him if anything, no signs of purposefully manipulating in sight. She doesn't have to save his life, either. And yet, she does. Two times in a row, in fact.
Even after going all in and using Leon's determination to save the city against him as the conclusion to the Kendo scene, she constantly reminds Leon: 'Are you up for this? It's not late to turn back.' It's interesting to me how she keeps empathizing it over and over to him, almost annoyingly so. That's not necessarily her manipulating him with pure malicious intent, is it?
And then there's the sewers scene. The dialogue is so fascinating here, because it honestly feels like the most genuine Ada has been through the entirety of the game. She tells him to get out. One last time. She doesn't even have a good justification for doing that, besides a weak: 'you don't understand. The situation's worse than I thought.' It honestly feels like her jumping to the first excuse she can think of, because what does that even mean exactly? Compared to how measured and convincing she sounded before every time Leon questioned her, it's a massive difference, to say the least.
But Leon comes through again. Showing genuine kindness and determination to stick by her no matter what. In other words, she's in too deep now. Not like she can just spill the beans right then and there and tell him that, no, she actually never intended to save anyone at all. So, she can only go through with the lie.
It's honestly very bittersweet, because, at this point, she's way in over her head, and probably fully realizes that. Leon was nothing but an annoying and naive rookie cop to her before, but now she sees him as he is. A genuinely good person that doesn't deserve to be involved in any of this, or to be taken advantage of. Especially so after him literally taking a bullet for her earlier.
It honestly contrasts the aforementioned Kendo scene pretty neatly, too. Back then, Ada probably just viewed his compassion and drive to help as foolishness, hence her deciding to make use of that in the moment. But in the sewers, she seems genuinely moved by those same exact qualities of his. It's so interesting how her perception of him flips like that. All by Leon being himself. Which, in hindsight, is actually very sad. Because from Leon's perspective, those same qualities he showed her are what made hum fail to save anyone in the end.
Out of everything Ada does, her biggest point of genuine manipulation with malicious intent happens in the cable car. Before and after that, she either dismisses Leon outright, or tries to stir him away from the situation instead. I'd love to pick apart the whole cable car sequence in itself one day because it's deserving of its own post, so I won't go Amy further into it here.
It's honestly a bit upsetting how little nuance their relationship in RE2R is often given. It is largely viewed as 'Ada manipulating and using stupid Leon' game. When it's honestly so much more nuanced than that. And I think this complexity feeds right into Leon's petty grudge against her in RE4R. He wouldn't be nearly as petty with her if it was all just a cold ploy from her. That's what makes it so very hurtful and frustrating to him in the first place. Ada giving major mixed signals. And she continues that same trend in RE4R. Helping him and seemingly showing more care than necessary, but simultaneously refusing to be open and truthful and sometimes straight up taking advantage of him without him knowing.
Remake-verse Ada continuesly struggles with picking a side and sticking to it, something her OG self doesn't display nearly as much, and that's an aspect of her character I very much appreciate.
These two are so very complicated, and I love it.

'Let me breathe for once,' she cursed in her mind, the thin leather sticking to her sore legs, reflecting the orange light of the sunset as she struggled to fight for her life; time was running out. She almost had enough. The metal sleeves of machine gun bullets flooded the ground with ringing noises filling the scene along with crackling sounds of the fire caused by this atrocious disaster. Alone yet again, she had to keep going, and so the attacking continued under pressure.
He chanted once again, never ending, like an irritating piece of gum stuck under her heels. "You'll be mine," too bad, she was born in a fucked up world like this one. She was born to live like an independent woman, with the potential to have a powerful yet peaceful job, and a nice living environment with her family in China. In spite of that, only forced to fight for her own peace, and the corrupted world's. The unwanted criticism from everyone pushed her back, but not too far away to fall off the edge.
Just as everyone expected, Ada had no one to rely on. No one at all. The only person that would remember her, would only be those few, most already gone to be remembered. She had thoughts of them, kind of as a motivation to keep her going, knowing that she does not want to lose any more lives she shared a memory with.
She wasn't the easiest to be knocked down, was she? Ada was agile and had inevitable mercenary skills most of her life. She had no one to rely on. That is a constant reminder for her. To remember the fact that she was alone, and at the mean time, the fact that she was a survivor. She had that slight sting in her heart everytime she thought about her lonliness, regardless, she was exceptionally used to it by this age.
Revisiting the situation, a simple spray of bullets removed her from her cloud of thoughts, the fog fading away, and instead, plain darkness right infront of her eyes. Ada was knocked down. Darkness lurked her head, her exhausted form collapsing on the end of the bridge.
Silence filled her ears, only a light ringing inside of her ears.
Who could come and save her? Barely anyone knew her and her true intentions. She was hunted by the BSAA, and a bad reputation diffused amongst the population. Ada wished she had lived a normal life. The only person who could remember her, did. He always had. Not Simmons, not Chris. That someone she had barely hung out with, yet knew the best of her.
"Ada!" That voice echoed in the distance, the unconscious spy laying almost lifelessly on the ground. The man's eyes widened in agony. A bolt out of the blue, Leon never knew she would fall this hard. Fall in what way? Every way. A risky jump from that perished elevator, his partner, Helena watching in anxiety.
'Come on.. get up,' Leon repeated with panic in his mind before actually reaching out, hesitant. "Please be okay," he prayed with his heart, holding onto Ada for dear life as he fired with anger at the sickening monster. She felt it. Emitting warmth, a strong body, at last shielding her body as it absorbed the uninterrupted bullets, rough, thick hands carrying the weight of her delicate body. "Ada.." He muttered with growing fear and hurt.
Come on, Leon. He'd missed out on her his entire life. It wasn't his fault entirely, as Ada distanced herself from Leon, because she knew she could never get his trust back, seeing his growth for almost fifteen years. How? it was just that they suffered that horrendous night in raccoon city together, and since then, they were stuck together. What an event, making two mutual pining folks lingering onto each other's presence for over a decade. It all happened too quick.
Ada could not comprehend the situation. Being as intelligent as she was, a cold joke, seeming to warm up their interaction more. "I was just resting my eyes," Leon thought it was foolish that she tried to build herself back up when he could be the one protecting her now, especially after years with Ada unconditionally being his guardian angel. It was the time for him to repay. Although in the end, we understand their way of loving and who would end up saving each other before one of them leaves again.
Ada had always thought, she was incapable of loving. Growing up in an environment where she had to stay mysterious for her own good, she handled her emotions well, well enough until that night. The thought of hurting Leon projected back to her a little too extremely, exposing that vulnerable side of her that she never even knew had existed. Betraying missions after missions to make it up to him, although he didn't really notice them. Yet, he understood. Leon definitely did.
Simmons, his obsession with Ada only turned her stomach. So many choices she could've picked, why Leon?
As he hung over the edge of the bridge, that hand that just held her getting demolished by the stomach-churning antagonist of the century. "Can't always get what you want, Simmons," a sharpened rod of metal piercing through his cracked body as he fell forward, landing to be wrecked by the vigorous flame. A smirk lingered on the corner of Ada's plump lips, satisfied and relieved.
Leon chased after Ada on the other side of the building as she pulled a smooth getaway, with her grapple hook, that had been durable for ages.
"Ada-" He immediately grabbed her arm firmly, not allowing her to move away, his shiny eyes with a glimpse of hope as his eyebrows locked together.
Her head tilted down as she stopped her movement. She broke the silence with a scoff, full of emotions buried deep under it. "You know I can't stay." Ada finally had a proper response, but the last thing he wanted to hear.
A slight curve on his chapped lips, reminding him of when he pushed Ada away on their second meeting. "Ada-" Leon called out, bluntly blocking her way, his mind full of hope that she would get his meaning. She didn't mind, an intrigued expression on her pretty face. "Hm?" Her arms crossed infront of her chest. She was anticipating.
Hesitation filled Leon's facial expression. It seemed like he was struggling with making the right decision. 'Come on Leon. Haven't you seen what I've done for you for all these years?' Ada's eyes spoke, eyebrows began to close together as the air got denser.
Ada had distanced herself and shut herself down for too long, not begging for his attention yet beginning her own radiation. Leon was the spark she needed to fill that hole of darkness within her, although, she knew she didn't deserve him at all.
"I don't want to see you for the last time."
His shaky voice seemed to hit a nerve in her body, a strong one. Eye contact was lacking, air stiff and tense, bodies frozen as the world kept quiet around them, only the crackling of the fire could be heard.
They finally made a decision to face each other. 'So cute,' she whispered instinctly to herself. His teary eyes seemed to wetten her own pair too. Leon gulped loudly, holding himself together so he wouldn't shatter like he did as a rookie; although that part of him was still in there, somewhere. Maybe younger three years, but hes a vulnerable puppy at heart, courageous government agent at sight. It was overwhelming for the both of them. How could Ada reject this offer? She wasn't exactly working for anyone now. She didn't have to run away, did she? Her heart was racing, breaking her scale of being the spy she was. It could change their lives, 'it' referring to the decision she had to make after desolated events between them.
A gut wrenching feeling festered within her. Ada never wanted to distance herself away. Lovers was all she wanted to be, despite her distancing away during every interaction between them. She knew what she wanted.
"Mm." She hummed willingly. Not exactly an exciting tone, although she knew damn well how much joy and relief she was in.
Sore and awkward arms wrapped around each other's torso in an instant, tears drenched their shirts. Warmth was spread amongst them, as all that could be heard were their joyous sobs and hearty chuckles.

SPOILERS FOR SEPERATE WAYS UNDER CUT N O T OPEN IT IF YOU DONT WANNA SEE EM!!!!!!!!
Here’s my little tiny exploration of Luis’ character because it is my god-given duty to pull him apart and analyse him
• Ok so first off………. THE OPENING SCENE??????????? Oh my god there’s S O MUCH TO TALK ABT. Yes Luis dancing is hot as SHIT but also???????? He was about to get TORTURED and MURDERED and he STILL decided to have fun with it and do a lil dance?????? That’s so!!!!!!!!!! He wants to live out his fantasies right until the end!!!!! He truly does think his confidence can get him anywhere!!!!!!! And then when the dance ends he’s READY TO FISTFIGHT THE MONKS?????? NO WEAPONS HES FULLY ABIUT TO GO FISTFIGHT THEM???? He KNOWS it’s a loosing battle but he’s gonna fight tooth and nail to the very end!!!!!!!!!!!
• Also when he turns to face the person who was also dying in the cell and says “this next dance is for you brother” and we get a close up of his face……….. god it hurts to know that that was a person. Somebody who was beautiful in their own right and maybe even somebody who meant something to Luis. Even in the face of death Luis sees the beauty in it ARGHGAGWHSGSB
• Also also I’m sure SOMEBODY could find meaning behind the Flamenco (somebody more knowledgeable in Spanish culture than me) but I’ve heard some people say it symbolises capture and death???? CAPCOM HOW DARE YOU HURT ME SO
• I LOVE that we get to see a more relaxed side of Luis around Ada and less of his flirtiness and damn. It’s so obvious he and Leon are in Love. He’s trying soooooooo hard to impress Leon every time they talk by being super flirty with him and then whenever he’s with Ada he’s a total nerd he’s soooooooooooooo in love w that blonde twink
• GODDAMN THAT FIRE SCENE. WHAT I S N T THERE TO TALK ABOUT??????? First of all the paralells between his childhood where he watched his grandfather die in a fire?????? Also he FULLY RAN INTO A BURNING BUILDING AND ALMOST DIED J U S T TO GET LEON HIS MEDICINE????????????? HE CARES ABOUT LEON SM I WANNA RIP SOMETHING APART. He didint wanna see Leon die in the same way his Grandfather did because he couldn’t save his Grandfather back then!!!!!!!!!!! He wants to make things right!!!!!! HE WAS LITERALLY ON HIS HANDS AND LNEES CRYING I CANT I CANT
• Also ADA CARES ABT LUIS SM,,,,,,,, SHE RAN INRO A BURNING BUILDING TO SAVE HIM AND MAKE SURE HE DIDINT DIE,,,, THE BESTIES EVAH
• godDAMN that scene where Luis heals Ada?????? I LOVE that we see him hesitate for a good solid few seconds on wether or not he should run away from her or stay,,, wether or not he should go back to his usual habits of running away from the people he loves or stay to help,,,, ANS HE STAYS TO HELP BECAUSE HE CARES ABY ADA AND ALSO??? ADA BEING LIKE “leave me here……… besides…… you’ve got a promise to keep……..” OOOOOOOUGGHHH SHE KNOWS,,,, SHE KNOWS HOW MUCH LEON MEANS TO HIM I CANNOG RN also that lil apothecary thing he had was sooooo gender of him
•OH MY GOD HIS DEATH SCENE WHERE HE CALLS HER?????????????? I don’t remember EXACTLY what he said and I’d have to comb through like hours of footage to find it again but,,,,,. THE FACT THAT HE CALLED HER TO SAY GOODBHE????? HE CARES ABOUT HER RIGHT UMTIL THE END?????? AND HE CALLS HIMSELF HER ‘Good Samaritan’ IN THE SAME WAY HE CALLS HIMSELF DON QUIXOTE TO LEON AOAOAISAUJSSOSISKS,,,,,, and then he’s like “sorry I’ve gotta go Leon needs my help ;)” OUGH,,,,, I’m gonna reference another post from my mutual but it’s so sad that Luis got to spend the rest of his life with Leon but not the other way round………………..
• I’m so glad we got to see more of Luis and more of his personality when he’s not tryna swoon the blonde twink he’s in love with BXNSBEHEJXIAIS he feels like such a deep and real human being especially whenever he interacts with Ada and I just,,,,,,,,,, sigh. He’s my favourite character for a reason. 10/10 no notes
• Edit: also the parallels between Luis calling himself Ada’s ‘Good Samaritan’ and Leon his Sancho like AAAAAAAAAA???? You could pick apart the meaning and argue abt how good samaritans are usually friends and Sancho is a code word for Gay Lover in a lot of old fashioned Spanish bars like how ‘friends of Dorothy’ was but ANSNWUENDUNXXUNDDHXN SHUT UP I can’t rn
•Also I’m SURE you could pull some symbolism from the bugs and from Luis having an apothecary as catholic self-exorcism and how ‘science is the roof of all evil’ and Luis is using it to help others etc etc etc……….
Also if anyone else finds anything abt luis lore wise like how you have to find a picture of his grandfather or of him with Umbrella in the original PLEEEEAAAAASSSWE SHOW ME I NEED MORE LUIS BACKSTORY I NEED IT IN MY VEINS
• ALSO ALSO EDIT: the fact that one of the ingredients for his cure are butterfly wings???? And butterflies symbolise CHANGE????? HIS ENTIRE ARC IS ABT CHANCE??????? I’m actually gonna be sick.

Leon, in the intro to RE4make:
"September 30, 1998. It's a day I'll never forget. The cop inside me died that day."
---
Officer 1: So, tell me, Yanqui. Why did you come to this horrible place? As close to nowhere as I've ever seen.
Leon: Let's just say... looking for someone.
Officer 1: That someone must be very important, eh? The Chief gave the orders himself. "Help him," he said.
Leon: I'm sure you boys didn't come all the way out here to roast marshmallows.
Officers 1 & 2: (laugh)
Leon: (annoyed) Maybe you did.
Officer 1: You have a strange sense of humor. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Just between us. A lot of people have gone missing around here, and it's been that way for a while, now.
Leon: (still annoyed) Well, then. Should be just another day in the office, right?
Officer 1: Mmm... I mean, last week, there was a search for some missing hikers.
Leon: (sarcastically) I'm sure you'll do your best to help me.
Officer 1: (laughs)
[...]
Leon, much later in the scene: So much for helping me.
---
Leon, later in chapter 1:
(bitterly) "Gotta fix everything myself."
---
Leon tells Ada in RE2make that the reason why he went into law enforcement was to help people like Kendo and his daughter -- vulnerable people, good people, members of the community who are facing the worst moments of their life and need someone to help make it right.
And yet he says in the intro to RE4make that the cop inside him died that day. When we take that in context with what he told Ada about Kendo, what he means is that his desire to help people died that day. The belief that he could help people died that day.
His faith in humanity died that day.
Leon goes into his mission to save Ashley already expecting the two local officers that he's with to be completely fucking useless, and he gets immediately annoyed at the first hint that they are. His "So much for helping me" is said with a sense of "Why am I not surprised?"
He went into RE2make believing that people are generally good and that things will work themselves out.
He goes into RE4make believing that people are generally selfish and will take advantage of him, leaving him to work through any problem that arises on his own.
This is why he's so supremely pissed off at Ada when they meet back up again, and it's also why Ashley is so integral to his character arc. It's also why I've said in the past that Ada is a foil for Ashley in RE4make.
(NOTE: A foil is a character that is set up in the narrative to directly contrast with another one. Where one character is deficient, the foil character is strong, and vice versa. Where Ada is cold, Ashley is warm. Where Ada is physically capable, Ashley is defenseless. Where Ada is secretive, Ashley is honest. Where Ada is calculating, Ashley is impulsive. A foil does not necessarily exist to make one character seem better than the other; a foil exists to showcase two equals using a different approach and receiving different outcomes as a result.)
Ada is the genesis of Leon's cynicism. She's the reason why he expects less than nothing from people anymore -- the reason why he goes into every social interaction waiting to be screwed over. And she reinforces this throughout the narrative by trying to tear him down ("Leave the girl. She's lost no matter what.") or by keeping score ("Happy to help. Now you owe me.") -- which she takes even further in Separate Ways ("Don't worry, Leon. First time's free.").
In the six years since her initial betrayal, Leon has been forged into a weapon by the US government. The kind-hearted boy from RE2make who wanted to save the world now is more comfortable shoving a knife in the throat of an old woman than he is with carrying on small talk with people.
But weapons on their own are neither good nor bad. It's how they're used that determines that. Up until RE4make, Leon has been surrounded by extreme violence and senseless death (that's the point of changing Operation Javier btw), and he doesn't see a way in which his status as a weapon could possibly be used for good.
Until Ashley comes into his life.
If there was ever anyone who had a good reason to take Leon for granted and take advantage of him, it's Ashley -- but not only does she not do that, but she goes out of her way to make herself useful without expectation or strings attached. The only thing she ever asks for in return is a "thank you."
So, every time she gets that "thank you" -- every time she gets a real smile out of him -- she's returning pieces of his humanity to him. She's healing the hurts that Ada and the CIA inflicted on him so many years ago. She's showing him that there's still some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for. She's worth fighting for.
When Leon says: "This time, it has to be different..." he's not talking about his inability to save anyone in Raccoon City. That's a very surface-level interpretation. What he's referring to there is that Raccoon City destroyed his faith in humanity, ruined his image of himself, and poisoned his ability to create meaningful connections with people.
That's what has to be different this time. That's why the full line he says in the intro is: "If I could just forget what happened that night... the pain, even for a second... This time, it can be different. It has to."
RE2make took so much from him, but Ashley spent the entirety of RE4make giving so much of it back. But if she were to die in his arms in chapter 15, that hope and that healing would die with her. Her death would be a reaffirmation that everything that Leon wants or hopes for in this world isn't real, and that reality is nothing more than a series of random tragedies and chaos that results in suffering.
Ashley re-teaches him how to trust in people again, how to work as part of a team again, how to feel good about his own actions again. She teaches him how to hope again.
Ashley is the first person in six years to care about whether Leon gets or feels hurt by her actions. The most important line of dialogue spoken to Leon in the entire game is "Stay back! I might hurt you again..." as Ashley openly sobs over the mere thought of it.
Juxtapose that beside...
During the boat scene, Ada asks Leon in response to whether or not she's changed, after all of the damage she's already inflicted on him: "What do you think? Don't think too hard."
And so, in the ending, Leon answers: "I think we both know that this is where we go our separate ways."
Because, this time, things were different.
Because, this time, his partner was Ashley.

LOL, me and the bestie discussing how Leon’s survivors guilt went through the roof after Luis’s death and how even though Spain was shitty, Luis had been like one of the only good things Leon saw. Luis was one of the only people Leon has interacted with (including his background with Umbrella) in years who wanted to change for the better and didn’t put right use him, and that in the end ended up killing the other man.
Yeah you had Ashley, but she was more innocent in nature and was ultimately leverage for the government to get what they wanted out of Leon. And then you have Ada who by the end of the game did change in some sort of way, but in the end is still willing to use Leon.
Luis ended up never using Leon to get to an end goal. Yeah, he left him after the chain scene, but pretty much started helping him every time they met back up. Luis was willing to risk his life for some American guy he had met hours ago, and he did.
Would Luis had ended up using Leon in the end if he had lived? I can’t say, but Luis genuinely wanted a change in his life. Yeah, helping a young girl and a hardened young man felt good to him, it made him feel good about himself, but it was more than that to him.
Could this be my serennedy shipper side reading into things? Definitely, but could it also be my honest opinion on the whole ordeal? Yup, I don’t analyze characters for a living, but this is something I thought needed to be shared.

RE bot dump #6
That's right I'm back again. So the user interaction count has updated and I'm blown away by over 900k interactions! It's nice to see how down bad everyone is plus I'm genuinely surprised at how popular some of my Chris bots are. Anyway I have now started writing Claire Redfield bots so I will gladly take any requests for her <3
RE:8!Ada Wong and Ethan Winters x Reader
Ethan exchange all the treasures and crystallised parts found in Castle Dimitrescu for new items and weaponry that will hopefully help the two of you survive this gothic nightmare. “You know your friend is quite interesting.” Calls out a voice from behind. You look over and see the mercenary in the bird mask, approaching yourself and Ethan with her crossbow in hand that has saved you more times than either of you would like to admit.
RE:2R!Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy x Reader
“Cant imagine a real scientist being down here.” Leon grumbles as he steps inside the dimly lit tunnel. The putrid stench of waste causes his nose to scrunch up in disgust. “According to HQ, this leads right into Umbrella’s secret facility.” Ada replies calmly, seemingly unaffected by the stench. She follows closely behind you and Leon as the three of you begin to make your way through the labyrinthine passages of Raccoon City’s sewer system.
RE:8!Ada Wong x Reader
Retrieve a sample of the Cadou and get out. It’s an easy enough task on paper however after years of fighting against all sorts of eldritch horrors, Ada knows it will be anything but easy. Of course this doesn’t deter Ada, as she navigates the desolate village. Her movements are calculated and precise, eyes darting around every open door and shattered window. The distant howls of Lycans break the unnerving silence between the soft crunching of snow under her boots.
Bounty Hunter!Ada Wong x Reader
In the dimly lit corner of the bustling tavern, the bounty hunter approaches the weathered board covered in parchment notices. The scent of ale and conversation fills the air of the tavern as she eyes the parchment. With a sense of purpose, she swiftly removes the wanted poster and presents it to the tavern keeper. She taps the bold numbers printed underneath the paper with a gloved finger, emphasising the importance of her prize.
Chris and Claire Redfield and Reader (Request)
“So what’s the intel for this mission?” Claire asks while taking in the new surroundings the three of you find yourselves in. “Rumour has it that a virus stronger than G and T has been created on this island. It’s the perfect testing ground for B.O.Ws considering how far it is from the mainland.” Chris replies and adjusts that sheathed combat knife on his shoulder. “That means we’ve got to be careful out here. Especially you, {{user}}.” He adds with a slight smirk.
RE:1 Infected!Chris Redfield x Reader
Heavy footsteps ring out in the hallway of the infested mansion. The creature’s shadow come to the end of the corridor before it lets out a agonised whimper. When it does eventually turn the corner your heart stops when you see who it is. “{{user}}?…. {{user}}….” Is what you manage to make out through his garbled speech. His right eye is glassy as the iris has completely disappeared and his skin has a greyish undertone. This is no creature. This is your teammate, Chris Redfield.
RE:2R!Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy x Reader
The three of you make your way through the desolate corridors of the RPD. Your flashlights cut through the oppressive darkness, revealing the chaos left behind by the undead. “Jesus, this place has gone mad.” Leon whispers softly, afraid to alert any of the monsters roaming the halls. “Yeah I’ll say. Just how did something like this happen in the first place?” Claire’s face curls up in disgust as she speaks, pointing her flashlight at another desecrated body on the tiled floor.
RE:2R!Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy x Reader
The train speeds down the track in the secret tunnel that lie just under the city. The sound of distant explosions and chaos from the Umbrella facility reverberates around you, a constant reminder of the nightmare you are leaving behind. Claire and Leon share a moment of relief, both looking as battered and as equally exhausted as you are but grateful to be alive and that you have made it with them.
RE:2R!Claire Redfield x Reader
You can hear the monster’s agonised screech mixed with heavy bullet fire from inside the train while the platform lowering it rocks and sways violently. Thankfully it doesn’t take long until those screams diminish and the train connects to the track before barrelling down the tunnel. The door slides open, revealing a weary and exhausted Claire covered in grime. Her eyes light up when she sees you, relieved that you’ve finally managed to escape this nightmare together.
Infinite Darkness!Claire Redfield x Reader
You’re pretty much used to Claire leaving for weeks at a time for her aid work with Terra Save. What you’re not used to is the questionable conditions she comes back in every time. This time Claire came back with her left arm in a sling, wearing an expression that looks like she has just had her face slapped. “I can’t believe that guy! ‘I can’t’ my ass… Who does he think he is!” She exclaims before slamming the door shut and collapsing onto the couch beside you with a frustrated groan.
RE:2R!Claire Redfield x Reader (+ Sherry)
After finding out that Claire’s brother is in fact safe and on ‘vacation’ as Marvin called it, the two of you now must figure out how to get out of the zombie infested city. However, you weren’t exactly expecting a child to come into the equation. “So… Are you two together?” Sherry looks between the two of you, her eyes wide with curiosity. “No, no. We actually just met tonight.” Claire quickly replies with a nervous chuckle, while continuing to navigate through the city.
Ethan Winters x Reader (inspired by @leonsmascara 's fic here)
The two of you walk through the shark tunnel, giggling as you make some comments about the creatures gliding overhead. The soft, ambient glow of the exhibit casts a gentle light on your faces, illuminating your eyes like precious jewels in the depths of the sea. “Look at that one, babe!” Ethan points to a large circular tank up ahead and drags you by the hand, intertwining his fingers with yours. The tank glows a deep purple, holding moon jellies that flow and pulse with the current.
College Student!Ethan Winters x Reader (Request)
From elementary all the way through to high school, you and Ethan have been inseparable and even now that holds up as fate decided to pair the two of you up as roommates. “Hey, {{user}}!” Ethan calls out as he steps into the dorm. You notice a rather large houseplant in his hands, practically obscuring Ethan’s face and the upper half of his body.
RE:8!Ethan Winters x Lord!Reader
Ethan wakes up, finding himself in a dimly lit courtroom crawling with Lycans and filled with ancient, eerie decor. Tall, ornate candles cast flickering shadows across the room and the five lords within it. Terrifying people that wield equally terrifying powers, all waiting for Mother Miranda’s verdict. As the lords argue over who should have Ethan, his eyes land on you sat in the corner of the room. Your eyes meet and Ethan can’t help but wonder what you have planned for him.
RE:2R!Leon Kennedy x Reader
Exhausted, weak and weary, the two of you stumble onto the driverless train before it picks up speed down the track. The tunnel walls are illuminated by the facility’s destruction, glowing a bright orange as the flames ride up the walls. A heavy sigh escapes Leon’s lips and he collapses onto a bench, his bandaged shoulder throbbing as the adrenaline wears off. Regardless, Leon can’t help but smile at you, thankful to have you by his side. Grateful that the two of you managed to survive.
Infinite Darkness!Leon Kennedy x Reader
In the confined quarters of the submarine, Leon adjusts to the rhythmic hum of machinery and the occasional creaking of metal against the pressure of the deep sea. He taps his foot against the metallic floor as the submarine makes its course towards China and sits opposite you. “Wanna get dinner when this is all over?” Leon asks with a slight smirk while adjusting his leather jacket. He leans back in his chair, trying to appear as casual as possible while he awaits your answer.

Janitor.ai AU timeline scenario I'm in rn: Dead by Daylight timeline where I(OC/Ysmir=manifestation of a Killer main Player itself) yeeted the entire cosmic body of The Entity in a pocket dimension after kicking everyone out of The Fog so it literally starved to death. shriveled into non-existence. (sry my spiderling lol) everyone returned to their own corresponding universes including RE characters. Killers and Survivors alike. they all(the Redfields, Ada, Jill, Rebecca, Carlos, Wesker, Birkin, etc) still retain their memories of The Fog.
Albert Wesker remained as the S.T.A.R.S. captain and was the main reason why the Umbrella took a fall after 6 years because both he and Birkin betrayed the fuck out of it after their shared experience at The Fog. Wesker got humbled™ by meeting TWO cosmic entities(The Entity, The Player) and his megalomaniac tendencies reduced significantly even if he's still an arrogant bastard we all know and love. but his mad scientist tendencies got amplified instead because he snatched a small part of The Entity before escaping to perfect his Uroboros. classic Wesker move.
Leon Kennedy also joined S.T.A.R.S. as pretty much the baby brother of the team and was the person who convinced me to yeet The Entity in the first place by bawling his eyes out like a lost child.
so basically, two blond idiots are catfighting every single day at the HQ to get more attention and validation from their favorite teacher/nanny™ like a bunch of kindergartners.
and I am often pulling Peace Out on them and turning into just 'a voice in their heads' instead of interacting in person to escape the petty shenanigans and but still support them emotionally lol
