dick&tim, jaytim - the favorite

sort of sideways to my dicktim jaytim 'the girls are fightinggg' post, but -

look even in a world where DickTim genuinely isn't a thing it would be so funny for Dick to get increasingly perturbed watching JayTim get closer. He doesn't even clock that they're flirting - he pays a bunch of lip service to appreciating Tim's efforts to bring Jason closer to the family, but in private he corners Tim like,

"So you and Jason are getting along really well huh? Spending a lot of time together. Hanging out. Buddying it up, you might say."

And Tim's a lil nervous because he thinks Dick knows they're fucking and he's 100% sure that Dick is going to be a nightmare about it, so he's like, "Uh, yeah, we've been working on some cases. It's going pretty well… He's not so bad, really."

And Dick just puts his hands on Tim's shoulders gravely like, "Just be honest with me, Timmy."

Tim gulps.

Dick's hands tighten, and his eyebrows crease in distress.

"Am I neglecting you as your big brother? Are you shopping for a new favorite? I can do better, I swear - hey, let's go to the retro arcade this weekend and break all of our old Batman Pinball scores!"

Tim thinks he's joking and cracks up a little but is gob-smacked when it turns out Dick is like Actually Upset, lol. It's so simultaneously endearing, hilarious and ridiculous that Tim's face must do something pretty weird, because Dick worriedly asks if he's alright.

Tim legitimately has to reassure Dick that he remains Tim's favorite brother.

"Not that the demon brat gives you much competition," he jokes.

Dick smiles a bit, obviously relieved, but does add, "I mean, technically Jason is also your brother - you've both been adopted by Bruce - "

And Tim very firmly is like, "Nope, nope, nope, the zombie undead have no legal status; I only have one older brother and that's you."

Dick relaxes a bit, but continues to playfully argue the point, given that he still sort of sees Jason as his younger brother. He relaxes further with every exaggeratedly disgusted face Tim makes.

Tim tells Jason about it later and has to whack him repeatedly with a pillow in embarrassment when Jason nearly dies in a laughing fit.

Jason has never had a single iota of brotherly feeling toward Tim in his life - diametrically the opposite, actually, in both negative and positive directions at different points. But after this priceless revelation of brotherly insecurity he renews Dick's paranoia by hamming it up to insufferable levels whenever he knows Dick is around to notice.

Putting a chummy arm around Tim's shoulders; calling him "buddy" and "little bro"; condescendingly offering to like, play catch with him and educate him on the birds and the bees (Tim elbows him in the stomach for that one); making up recent trips to a ~certain arcade~ ("Our retro arcade?" Dick whispers, heartbroken. Tim is about to fold like a wet tissue but Jason hurriedly smothers his face in Jason's shoulder in the guise of a big-brotherly hug); even sacrificing a smidge of his stubborn familial rejection of Bruce by referring to him as 'OUR old man', though he carefully makes sure Bruce isn't in earshot.

Dick is just Gripped by resurgent Anxieties, lmao.

Tim considers putting a stop to it (his boyfriend even play-acting the older brother role is pretty gag-worthy tbh), but ultimately he doesn't because Dick deserves a little ribbing over this. Or a lot.

Master detective, honestly.

Until finally one night Tim is slow-riding Jason in one of Red Hood's apartments, smirking down at Jason's blissed-out face as he rolls his hips sensuously - when Tim glances up and just about has a heart attack seeing Nightwing's upside-down face sprout abruptly from the top of the window frame.

Thoughts: Groomer!!! Get lost lady you’re literally his dad’s age!!!!! Should’ve locked her up in Harrenhall and thrown away the key maybe!

Headcanons: Honestly I think canon already kind of spells it out for us given her age relative to his own, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was preying on Aegon’s whole mommy issues deal in order to get into a relationship with him. Pain and suffering all around.

Thoughts: Honestly poor girl she deserved sooo much better :( pretty sure her whole deal was supposed to be another commentary on how nobility don’t actually give a shit about the smallfolk even when they’re lovers and all that, but goddamn I just feel bad for her :(

Pickings for royalty were very slim- her only other options were a former teen dad who’s still hung up on his ex wife and is always busy trying (and failing) to keep his nephews from dying, a member of the kingsguard who’s obsessed with his own sister, and Baelor, of course she was gonna go for Aegon! Bellegere can get the one exception because I think pirate women are really cool and tbh I think she’s also the only one who was with him for funsies before dropping his ass like a sack of potatoes when he got too annoying for her

Headcanons: Ngl I kinda like to think her daughter Nahra took up the whole trading/smuggling/pirating business after her, and Bellegere got to retire and chill in Braavos watching all the shit go down with the Blackfyre rebellions. Good for her <3

Thoughts: I mean…. She’s a bitch, but tbh she kinda deserved better too. Even if she is meant to be a bad person, she was also just a teenager when Aegon began sleeping with her and was mostly pushed forward by her own dad, and its sad that she then continued the cycle of abuse to her own sister :(

Headcanons: I kinda like to think she and Daena had a very toxic frenemy-ship, that’s my main reasoning to explain why Aegor was so loyal to Daemon lmao

Thoughts: I mean, she’s one of Naerys’ only canonical female friends so she gets an automatic like in my books. And also kinda funny that the Bracken/Blackwood slap fight actually caused another Targ civil by just pushing their female relatives in front of a horny king. She absolutely deserved so much better

I keep thinking that when I get around to properly writing this in not draft form (looking at you earlier chapters) I'm going to write some scenes from other character's POV (Grandma's whole 48 hours with the monsters from her POV and FF's POV as he talks to the nice FBI agent Iruma Matsumoto). Writing from Neil's POV inbetween helped me a lot in keeping this chapter from being too heavy. (Also snuck in a bit of the Neil & FF friendship)

Ichirou's POV and like turning the shit that FF WOULD SAY into stuff that Ichirou could misinterpret took me sooo long it's why the chapter came out so much later than I wanted it to (that and I spent most of my weekend building that link tree for the AUs)

Aaron is one of my favorite characters who does not get used enough IMO. Like he's fucking funny! Yeah he's kind of an asshole Neil's freshman year but like he's a STUDENT ATHLETE in PRE-MED dealing with THE MAFIA. Also I really love writing the Monsters as just like...normal guys. Like it's not all overwrought conversations sometimes it's "No Kevin, putting vanilla protein powder in chicken stock is not 'Like Chicken and Waffles' it's a CRIME."

I do feel bad about how GS is just constantly like dogging him but in a voice that makes him preen but like to be fair.... vanilla protein powder into her sweet grandson's soup.

FF is always worried about the most important things when faced with a situation. Like 'At least it's a beautiful day I can cloud watch as Captain Neil and Andrew murder me.' , 'I hope there's a bathroom in this torture chamber' , 'Oh gross he didn't wash his hands before he left the bathroom to go murder Captain Neil', and 'Oh no I WAS racist and RUDE. Why the fuck didn't I ask for his name BEFORE I had that conversation. GS raised you better!'

Ok, some opinions i have about these two new episodes:

Dad beat dad:

i can finally see what people mean when they say the show is rushed and the songs come out of nowhere, that was REALLY apparent in Dad beat dad, like i was literally jumpscared by the first song.

Lucifer is... Well i expected him to be goofy and pathetic sure but he felt... Idk a little dissapointing? Idk i just thought he'd be more interesting i guess, really don't like how fast his arc with Charlie went.

Mimzy was there. She exists i guess. Expected more from her.

Finally we see how shitty Alastor can be, the show up until now didn't really give anyone a reason to dislike him, but the way he treats Husk i think is a great way to illustrate that YES Alastor is a piece of shit, and should be seen as a piece of shit, i'm not saying if you like Alastor(Like i do) you shouldn't, but just keep in mind that he is abusing Husk.

I liked the songs and i thought the feud between Alastor and Lucifer was pretty funny, but i think it came out of nowhere? Still really funny tho.

Also Alastor said fuck omg

Wish we got to see more of heaven, it was a little too fast and i had to keep pausing cuz there was to much happening and i couldn't see anything.

Anyway Sera and Emily are cool but we barely got to know them and that made me really sad. They are suppose to be really important but i feel like the show didn't really demonstrated it that well? It felt rushed is what i mean

Vaggie being an angel is something everyone knew but like, idk the reveal was a little too early for me, if they had revealed that in the last or near the last episode it would be a little more impactful i think, tho i understand if they want to explore Charlie and Vaggie's relantioship more with this conflict.

Adam being doubtful of his place in heaven was one of my favorite things in the episode, i really like Adam he is such an asshole and i love how they showed this weaker side to him, like the reason he is doing the extermination is kind of an affirmation that he deserves to be in heaven, loved that

The last song of the episode tho... Not great, not that the song was bad, it just didn't feel earned. Also Emily switching sides so fast gave me whiplash like girl who are you why is the show treating it like this moment is a big deal? I don't know her at all, i don't even know what her role in heaven is

The hotel side plot was great, best part of the episode, i loved to see Angel getting better, also cherry bomb yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i love her sdsdhfuhsdufihbsdfbjhdsa

Sir Pentious liking her was such a surprise lol guess my Aroace headcannon went down the drain, i mean i still think he's ace(I have done something similar to what he was doing once so i know the struggle my guy)

Like guys you can't have an episode where a character is show being raped and abused on screen and the next episode make a joke about it with another character, that wasn't funny i really didn't like it, it made my expirience sour a little bit.

Ok I need to rant about jjba part 8 because my brother is taking literally forever to finish it and I need to talk about my feelings

Ok. Hi. You have entered here willingly and so now I don't have to apologize. Lmao.

Ok first off Jojolion is not bad. I liked a lot of it quite a bit, actually. Josuk8 is great, I love Yasuho SO much, and Rai is literally my babygirl I love him so much I wish he was introduced sooner DAMMIT!!!!!!!

The romance between Josuk8 and Yasuho is also the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Jjba is a series that rarely ever focuses on romance (well unless you look at it with the perspective of These Bitches Gay but I digress) and that is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the series, the only downside being that a lot of jojos are paired up eventually, and usually to a woman who is barely a character which is really unfortunate. But Josuk8 and Yasuho's relationship is literally my favorite thing about Jojolion.

They are so fucking cute and wholesome and avoid so many pitfalls that usually come with romances. For example when Toru is introduced as Yasuho's ex she clearly talks to Josuk8 about it and how he doesn't have to worry. Josuk8 and Yasuho are never torn apart by Toru because they COMMUNICATE, even if Josuk8 does still act out of jealousy a few times.

The thing that bothers me about this is how their relationship is resolved, mainly due to the worst thing about the part: pacing.

Josuk8 and Yasuho never actually become a fully certified couple by the end of their part. Idk what part 9 may throw in but I personally think this is REALLY disappointing, even if it was just a minor piece of dialog in the lasg chapter or something really I wish their relationship was fully solidified. (Maybe I missed something, I dunno)

Another pacing issue comes with my aforementioned beloved lil shit, Rai.

I love Rai. He literally shows up and serves cunt for like 40 chapters and then he dies an icon and legend for all to aspire to. But the thing about him is that he shows up for 40 chapters in a 110 chapter part. Rai is supposed to be the final member of the Jojolion cast, but he shows up so late that he feels like such a wasted opportunity. Also his death.... very unfortunate. The deaths in part 9 never resonated with me aside from Johnny (because holy fuck) and Jobin (because damn I did not expect him to die). Unfortunately Rai's death is no different. Jojo deaths after part 1 are always fast and unexpected and moved on from quickly because they have to be, but they still get their time to resonate with the audience. Rai's death to me wasn't like that, it felt glossed over. I got the same feeling with Kei too, which just really made me sad. I loved those two and they felt like they were done so dirty because of how fast the plot moves in the last few chapters compared to almost everything else in the part which is so weird.

And aside from the pacing... sigh.

Joshu fucking sucks.

That's all I'm gonna say about him. Well actually I just wanna say that literally the only arc I have ever skipped ever in the entirety of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was one where the focus was on Joshu and only Joshu. It was also an arc very similar to one done in part 7 and it was done INFINITELY better there because it's part 7.

Anyways I have done so much complaining and I want to do more (like how a lot of the Higashikata family felt wasted, or how Kei deserved more time in the spotlight, or how the Fruit and existence of stone humans confuses the fuck out of me, or how Toru was barely even a character, or-) but I really want to talk about the things I fucking adore about this part. No strings attached, just things I fully loved.

Firstly, the Fun Fun Fun arc is one of my favorite arcs in all of jjba.

It's a fucking INSANE introduction to the part and has a gag so fucking amazing I literally drew a shitpost inspired by it which has never actually been posted to tumblr so uhhh. Enjoy.

Wonderful arc, absolutely horrific and just utterly perfect. I can't believe it took so long for jojo's to take inspiration from Saw.

That's not the only arc I love either! The one where Josuk8 is hunted by people who can only go in straight lines?!?!?!?!?!? WHERE HE LOSES?!?!?!!?!?!? Story: 5 out of 5 Smut: 1000 out of 5 (holy hell, the smut!)

Holy. Hell. Where do I even start?

This duet is possibly the filthiest I’ve ever read and I loved every second of it. All of my questions from book one were answered here in book two, and boy was it a rollercoaster to get those answers.

The love that all five of the main characters have for one another made my heart melt. The drama had me on the edge of my seat and my heart pounding a little too quickly, but it was well worth it.

Friendships were lost (good riddance) and others blossomed. Again, I loved every second of it.

I highly recommend everyone read this book!

SURVEY: I have about five other wips I haven't posted yet, and can’t decide which to do next.

1-- Another Calamity!Mu Qing AU. Mu Qing dies tragically just after Xianle's fall. He gets to the Kiln before Hua Cheng (yes I'm making it open more often). He and HC work things out, but when it comes to Xie Lian, he works in the shadows. But over the centuries, he develops a habit of annoying a certain southern god. His calamity name is Silver Sun Xuan Zhen. And he torments the sinful via dreams; that's also his "realm." Touching reveal.

I have about 10k words for it so far. No smut.

2-- Now, bear with me (I blame exhaustion sleepy brain for this). Xianle Quartet AU. Mpreg--non-mpreg. Xie Lian doesn't tell the Demon of Mei Niang Bridge to LiveLaughLove, and XL convinces them to let him keep Hong Hong-Er around. It's roughly ten years post his ascension, MQ, FX and HC are his officials and it's real nice. This is all thrown into a tailspin when through god-stuff and canonically being both genders (it is there), XL winds up pregnant. He gets "morning" sickness super duper bad and when he's complaining about it, Mu Qing says, "fine, I'll do it." So then Fem!MQ to be self sacrificial--I mean to save the day.

I'm doing so shit at summaries rn holy shit. 9k words thus far. No smut.

3-- Exhaustion sleepy brain: 2, Me: 0. Omegaverse--WAIT--because it'd be HILARIOUS to see them all in a tizzy because some drunk idiots thought it would be a funny idea and it spread like wildfire. Slight PQ and very jealous FX. FQ fic, as usual. No smut.

Don't ask how this became a thing, just accept it lmao. 2.2k words thus far. No smut. Non-traditional ABO.

4-- Mu Qing and Hua Cheng bro AU. Mu Qing doesn't save Hong Hong-Er from the fall, but he does in a different way and since then, the boy won't leave the stressed, working teen alone.

6- FX sabatages MQ’s goodhood to keep a torture fodder. MQ ain’t about to let him have his way. (Incorporates prompts 171. "You don't even know how lucky you are. I protect you and provide for you. 7- FX sees an opportunity to let MQ die during a mission and keep his hands clean and he takes it. He’s a real POS as he lets him die. MQ grows into an esp resentful ghost. FX eventually sees he was very much in the wrong and is terrified when MQ finally confronts him bc he’s an idiot and assumed after a while that MQ moved on. Sorta leaning Wrath!MQ if not Calamity.

1-There's no way this can be healthy and i'm all here for it. <3 2-Isaac doesn't need nobody to dehumanize him, he does it all by himself. All he lives for is pleasing his Lord <3 3-Well okay this is extremly niche but in the context of the "Dracula was still Mathias before Lisa's death and he actually cared a lot about Isaac and saw a bit of himself in him and their relationship was somehow wholesome" idea... the heartbreaking drama of Mathias' fall, turning into Dracula who, out of madness driven by grief, no longer feels the same way about Isaac. He changed for the worst and Isaac lost his father figure... but still, he's his Lord, and he loves him. He will never abandon him, even if Dracula no longer cares about him... like he used to.

Hecula:

1-THE FUCKING TORTURE ??? PLEASE ??? EVEN WORSE THAN ISAACULA. HOLY SHIT. HECTOR DOES NOT LIKE WHAT DRACULA DOES TO HIM. And that's hot. <3 Give me that sweet sweet drama and pain. <3 2-Dracula using Hector as Lisa's replacement because he misses her so much and have the worst coping mechanisms ever like holy fuck dude <3 3-That one attack in CoD where he hugs you with his wings and drink you blood. <3

Macula:

1-HHHHHHHHHHHH "self love" and "self acceptance" and "accepting your fate even though you hate it" themes <3 The hate and disgust beetween the two (Mathias being mortified at his future self, Dracula being reminded of how he used to be, realising how low he has fallen, and absolutely hating it wich basically means hating him) that eventually lead to those themes <3 2-Selfcest but deeper. Hot. <3 3-Sex used as salvation. <3 (hate that i have to limit myself to just three things > :<)

And ofc, the best ship, Lenector:

1-Lenore's death scene. Her choosing to look at Hector instead of the sun when she dies (and the music was really emotional, really good). Too bad it wasn't as deserved as people seems to think > :< 2-Hector giving Lenore a piece of her own medicine by trapping her. Ok it served more as "protection" or whatever but at least she was terrified <3 Especially when Isaac arrived. Lol. Lmao. 3-Hector patronising Lenore. The sex jokes were big ew but him being sassy or standing up to her from time to time was nice... but it's also what gave me the false hope that he was playing her game to manipulate her and stab her in the back later, wich KINDA happened but definitely not in the way I wish it had. >:(

"Tears of grief" Max loving him so much he literally recognizes his tears and knows these ones too.... And saying he looks as if he is grieving something that was his everything, not knowing David was grieving him. Grieving them. The life they had built. Gone.

"I wanna see daddy" WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS SCREAMING INTERNALLY ON MY FLOOR!! When we first saw on the first chapters I was so confused and now that the dots connected I am in pain 😭. And you wrote that scene so beautifully, their pain and horror and how you see Max slowly losing himself because it's just too much. The pain is too much. Losing David, Lance's pain, his job, his home...

And the scene with Magnus!!! GOING TO MY FAVE COLLECTION 🥺. Also him giving the band to AJ later, because Magnus said he could give it to someone else when it hurt just a little bit less HOLY SHIT😭😭

I was referring to the "once a cheater always a cheater" part—which is ironically the thing Ygritte uses to attack him again....like ashddhwjsj there's a reason Amy wrote her PR plant like that...

I'm saying that it's quite reductive to think that, by default, if someone cheated on their s/o once they will always cheat. You have to look at each situation in particular to imo be able to understand it, and even so, it's still quite unfair to instantly hold such an absolute belief, like it's either black or white, it can't be in between. Yes, some people have a problem and I'm not saying that's not true for them, I'm just saying that cheating doesn't happen in a vacuum. But that's a different debate.

Especially in this fic, in which Jon has explained what happened and the context of it all, it's quite baffling to say that. And he has expressed time and time again (from chapter 1 even!!) just how much he regrets it and has shown how much he's worked to be better.

It just perplexes me again and again whenever people read a fic that has cheating in any way just how black and white some insist on seeing things. Life isn't about absolutes. You can't think like that. Jon is a person who made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Good people can and will also make mistakes!! Just because they fucked up once doesn't mean that they're bad now (again, such absolutes and for what????) or that they will do the same thing again (to the same or to a different person). What matters is what we do after the mistake was made. And Jon has done everything in his power to learn from it and even thought he deserved all the shit Ygritte did to him.

And I've seen others hate on him too and it is truly sad to me because all he's been doing since chapter 1 is TRY TO BE BETTER. Do you know how hard that is??? Obviously the guilt was killing him inside (see the bad bender and the alcohol abuse) but he's worked through it in therapy. Like holy shit if you go back even 2 chapters before chapter 8 you can see how much he's still trying every single time. And I truly thought that the heart to heart he had at his flat with Dany will be eye-opening to many...seems like that's not that case.

Yes Jon cheated. Yes it was an awful thing of him to do. No Ygritte didn't deserve it. But Jon has admitted he fucked up and has been working through his mistake and he's been trying to be a better person.

And I appreciate the compliment, but idk what am I supposed to say to that? Because if after 107972 words you STILL say that Jon shouldn't be with Dany...it kinda makes me feel like we failed somewhere lmao like we've been showing so much of Jon dealing with his cheating and trying to be better for nothing. Like what does he have to do to be deserving of her? He can't go back in time and not cheat. So all he can do is move forward. And so far I think he's been doing fucking amazing. He's been respecting boundaries and promises and started communicating better with Dany. Just because he loves teasing her (because she enjoys it just as much if not more) doesn't mean he's treating her badly. That's just how he flirts?? And he's a very famous actor with a big ego like...I think he's acting accordingly!

Besides!! That kiss wasn't just sexual attraction for Dany. It was so much more than that...I thought it was obvious. Hence that big thing about her realising that Jon keeps choosing her when he could have gone with the simplest solution and dump her for Arianne.

If I said you should stop reading it was because I don't see the point of you reading a fic in which you clearly hate Jon, who is the other half of the ship. Like bestie that's a pretty important character to hate 😭😭😭 especially since the entire point of the story is getting Jon and Dany together! I just fail to understand how you could enjoy this fic if you think they shouldn't be together.

I'm not sure how I feel about how he's been in the past couple of books, because he keeps getting shunted to the side, and honestly with so much focus on his trauma it's really making him more... I dunno, for lack of a better term as a bit of a crybaby? Don't get me wrong, he deserves to have his trauma addressed and helped, and I know his trauma is depicted pretty realistically, but it's also the only thing we've seen from his side for a while. I think we need to look at his trauma, yes, because holy shit has he been through it, but like, Simon can get his shit together real fast if he's asked, and we haven't gotten to see much of that. We saw a mention during the wedding of him fighting, but we have not gotten him as part of the fight. Toby sent him away during Be the Serpent and I was so annoyed, because he works damn well as part of the action team, and he didn't get that.

But also, August and Quentin, honestly. We got ONE story from Quentin's POV, and that was ages ago. Chelsea mentioned that he doesn't want to be High King anymore, and I NEED to see things from his side and find out what's up with that. And August? We get to see so, so little of her. I know we'll get more of her in the next book, I know she's probably being set up to take May's usual role as Toby's action sister for a little bit so they can be friends, but I am desperately begging for it. We also almost never get to see Quentin actually fighting, and we know from Simon in AKF that Quentin learned his "win now bleed to death later" thing from Toby, but we never get to see him do it. I need to see both of these idiots do it. Pls. I'm begging Seanan personally.
