After 《封神第一部 Creation of the Gods I》 premiered, the topics of discussion surrounding Yu Shi was fixated on his role and his journey of striving. Despite how he himself always tries his best to give new refreshing and enriching answers, his main focus has never changed. Yu Shi understood what the prodding was attempting to get out from him. Facing these scrutiny and deciphering from people, his consciousness as a public figure were gradually formed.

With the double-edged sword of fame in his hands, what comes with it is a naturality of not having any prior training. Yu Shi remains to have a kind of simple passion, an almost clumsy way of baring himself.

Sprawled on the floor - enamored with the destiny and life of each individual body

First it was the shooshing sound of the wind. The point of view expanded from the back of a horse, tanned hands pulling at the reins, the ground a chaos of needlegrass. A large herd of sheep are hastened into a circle, a cacophony of bleating calls. The skies are transiting between two shades of blue, the setting sun burning, its sides stained with a dream-like smoked purple. A small bright moon hung at the side.

This was a snippet of the vlog Yu Shi recorded when he was filming in Altay. The sun set behind the mountains. He rode his horse, shepherding the sheep as he headed to a local shepherd's home for a meal. This clip was filmed in a very simple way, but the images were authentic, presenting a clean, vivid view of the plains, the culture and vibes of the hardworking, hospitable locals, like a paradise. During the peak period of 《封神第一部 Creation of the Gods I》 screening, this four minute-long clip of Altay went viral, even raising a traveling trend amongst his fans. "Yes, I knew about the many people who went traveling because of it," Yu Shi laughs.

In 《我的阿勒泰 My Altay》, Yu Shi plays a Kazakh youth, his name was Bakhtibek. "Bakhti" means blissful, "bek" is a common suffix used in Kazakh male names, there's no specific meaning to it. In the drama he's known as "Batay (Ba Tai), like a nickname. In the first half of last year, he was like a real Kazakh shepherd, riding horses, shepherding and laboring, blending into local life.

In our conversation, Yu Shi gave a long precursor into describing the details of nomadic life, "shepherding requires a lot of brainwork, to find all ways and means to let the livestock be well fed, the nomads themselves also have to replenish their energy, to eat and to have enough, to keep things simple to bring around. So the locals have accumulated a rich knowledge of production and labor as well as some traditional characteristics."

In the example of the opening of the vlog, he was greeting the nomads in Kazakh honorifics to the elder generation. The other party's reply was slightly shorter, it was the way the elder generation would reply the younger generation. "Kazakh language is a little more complex, there's also gender and seniority differences in greetings. Getting 'free meals' is a common rule. The human density in Altay region is low and the standards of living of the nomads were tough for nomads in the past, often suffering from starvation when shepherding, when they finally pass by a house and enter it for drinks and meals, the head of the house would always host them passionately. The saying goes, Kazakhs are called the community with no beggars, because of how hospitable they are, even if there's only just a piece of naan left, a little bit of tea leaves, they would share half of them with their guests."

"Our filming takes place mainly at the Habahe County and Baihaba. They are considered mature attractions, the view is very beautiful." In Spring the grass is still withered and yellow, the grazing fields only turn green when Summer arrives, there's even mountains of wild dandelions and medick in Dzungaria. "Shepherding in Summer can't be on the mountains. The terrain is slightly flatter so it's possible to ride on the motorbike. In Summer shepherding has to be on the mountains and this can only be done riding on horses." His nomad friends even shared their experiences with him: if he ever feels bored he can dig for colophony on the pine trees and chew on them. It has the flavor of gum, something to pass time by.

Looking at the pictures and videos, Yu Shi was visibly tanned, with a loose outfit, riding around on the motorbike or horse. Sheeps are the hardest livestock to look after, there's even techniques involved in shearing and debugging. In Spring, the sheep would give birth and the lambs have to be brought back and looked after. Very well versed, Yu Shi hugs a lamb, and there was a calf too. "Batay is a pure and wild role. He helps his family to shepherd from a young age and does all sorts of hard labor. As he faces the harsh natural environment, he might be a little slow at interpersonal relationship, not too quick witted. But he has a very rich and vast inner world, he grew up on the plains after all. He knows how to take care of different animals and would communicate and interact patiently."

Altay is the sixth region of the East, the days are long and nights are short. The nomads rise at around three to four in the morning every day. When he's not filming, Yu Shi and his nomad friends labor together and drink tea, sometimes in the tents, some times sitting on the plains, every one distributing and eating the naans they brought along. "The nomads are not complex like the people out there, they are more pure-hearted in spirit, and have no agenda when it comes to interacting with people, no distracting thoughts." Yu Shi is good at observing. In his communication with the locals he learnt a fair bit of things and could even practice his Kazakh. "I learnt Kazakh the hard way right from the start, I asked the teacher to translate all the lengthy lines in the show, record them down and listened to it repeatedly, speaking it repeatedly and relied on muscle memory. When I really spoke to the Kazakhs in their environment I realized I was speaking ok, and felt a pretty great sense of satisfaction."

In between the natural world of things and a need of humanities, he has a subtle grasp on its equilibrium. In his past interactions, Yu Shi doesn't hide his yearning for the heroic and their legends. But besides his metanarrative, he was also enamored with the destiny and life of each individual body, attentive to the intricate triviality beyond breathing and sustenance.

Leaving and returning - if the heavens allow, we will meet again

The "Batay" in author Li Juan's original novel was a dream guy who appeared briefly at the village party. He was wonderful but leaned towards plain, an emotional anchor for a young girl's heart. Yu Shi admits "Honestly, I didn't have much of an impression of this character from the original novel. After I received the script and did the related studies, the character was gradually filled and completed in my mind."

Yu Shi arrived early at Altay and after confirming the filming spots he noticed "The Kazakh males don't grow their hair out on purpose and not all minority communities are exceptionally bold." He also came up with premises for his character. "Batay's thinking is a little more avantgarde and rebellious, he likes music and pop elements, so he grows his hair long. He looks to the world outside and doesn't wish to live a typical life on the plains like his predecessors.”

The Kazakh community in history lives by shepherding and hunting. After the implementation of ban on hunting and gun ownership and other policies on environment and nomadic lifestyle, the contrast between the traditional and modern has become more evident than ever. Not only the younger generation of shepherds, even the older generation are lost in the era of change, selling off their livestock and switching to other occupations to make a living just so that they can catch up with the changes.

For Batay's rebellion and departure, the rupture between modern civilization and the shepherding tradition becomes even more evident through him. Yu Shi created the circumstances for Batay, yet this are also the issues that the younger generation of Kazakhs face in reality.

"Besides shepherding tradition, Kazakhs are also very rooted in familial ties. Relationships between people are very tight." Locally, the shepherds hold regular family reunions. During weddings, coming-of-age ceremonies and other celebrations like birthdays, gifts are a must. "They would even gift children lambs and foals." Even if a stranger passes by they host with passion, playing the dombra, eating meat and drinking wine, and are sentimental when it comes to bidding farewell. "If the heavens allow, we will meet again."

"This is the most precious facet of their local culture. The shepherds are really pure and honest, and are straightforward in the way they express their feelings. For example Batay could be looking at someone and laughing as he sings a song on his dombra. A little dazed, straightforward and cute," Yu Shi documents the day-to-day details of life on the plains, all triggered from the warm emotions of the natural winds.

However, the plains aren't exactly true paradise. In the undulating plains beyond Altay, the views are beautiful, the nomadic life seemingly carefree, riding on horses, peaceful and quiet. In fact it is extremely difficult, especially under the harsh winter weather, the shepherd and animals are leading tough lives. More and more younger shepherds wish to detach from the migratory lifestyle and move to the cities to seek their fortune. This is reality.

Yu Shi had keenly sensed this. "The scenery is very beautiful, the experience touring here is great, but this was never utopia. If we had to live here through an extended time, it is in fact boring. The labors that the shepherds have to go through is tremendous, herding is tough work." When he first read Li Juan's book, he found the words healing. However having actually lived in Altay, Yu Shi felt things shouldn't stop at the superficial. "The author wrote beautifully, this is the power of the arts. An excellent work is able to let those who have never been there to be filled with anticipation. But we should also have the thinking and realization of reality beyond what's wonderful."

In June, he returned to participate in the film festival, making good use of the time on the plane to learn Kazakh language. When he touched down and returned to the big city, Yu Shi was dazed for a moment. "People need to feel the power of nature more. When I returned to the city, I felt awed by the vast nature, from the bottom of my heart I kind of yearned for the mountains and waters. More importantly, cherishing it."

Taking root - child-like and also an inherent dexterity to live and grow

The Kazakh people are very respectful towards horses. "Among all the animals of its land, besides the wounded ones, horses nearly never require humans to look after them. They look for their own grass to eat all year round. It knows how to find grass under the layer of snow in winter, and horses love to keep themselves clean, they'll run into the water and roll around.” Sprinting on horseback, Yu Shi has a kind of "feeling of teleporting". "As I close my eyes, the horse could take me anywhere. This is different from driving a vehicle. Horses are really quiet most of the time, but they give off a powerful sound of urgency when they gallop. They're alive, they are living beings. You may hand yourself over to them. It's such a wondrous feeling. As it starts running, I imagine myself as a general in battle in the ancient times, I'd only hear the breathing sound and heartbeat of the horse, and the sound of the fierce winds."

In a press conference for a certain brand, the organizer planned for Yu Shi to enter on a horse. The horse was very tall and was totally unfamiliar with Yu Shi. They only had an hour's time to know each other. Also, the event was livestream. There were a lot of equipment at the set, the strobe lights could startle the horse. Half an hour before the event the trainer was still holding onto its reins at the entrance to prevent an accident. "But I felt it wasn't genuine in that way, it's like I was pretending to ride on a horse and it affected the overall visuals. Since they have invited me here I should bring forth all of my sincerity." After some consideration, Yu Shi suggested to his team "I can do it on my own, don't worry, please trust me." In the end he rode the horse on his own in matching chemistry. The result was wholesome.

The chemistry with animals and his comprehension of the natural world had come together to create Yu Shi's unique spirit. Having trained in mounted archery in the boot camp, riding horses for an extended time in Altay, shepherding, getting along with camels, cows and the puppies in the ranch, for most of the time he became used to vibing along to a rhythm he calibrates to, finding his own joys in them. He doesn't feel it's childish nor is he afraid of being laughed at. He's just spontaneous in the way he expresses his intimacy.

Last winter solstice, at the 5th Hainan Island International Film Festival's closing ceremony was also Yu Shi's 27th birthday. The hotel he was staying in the couple of days had a special aquarium and offered diving activities. After hearing the introduction his first reaction was "Can I dive then?" On his birthday he went diving in jubilance. In the blue waters, the animals and fauna under the sea was colorful and diverse. Yu Shi interacted with the fishes that swam by and greeted the tourists and people watching from outside the glass, making various fun poses.

An expression of a pure and clear soul. Both child-like and a dexterity to live and grow, as if he could take root no matter where he went. Also, what's precious about Yu Shi- is that such a vivid facet isn't just towards nature and humans, but also towards the people he interacts with.

"He hasn't actually formed a routine work condition. For example at interviews, he speaks to writers like a personal friend, speaking honestly, just like how he would chat in his daily life, there's no framework of limitations." His staff was once worried, such an honest and straightforward manner would be potentially problematic, but after wards decided to retain his vivid side of him & not interfere too much with his individual expressiveness.There are many who had interacted with Yu Shi that are moved by his unguarded sincerity. At the same time they can't help but be curious: How long would such scarce uniqueness remain under the spotlight? As his experiences increase, would an armor be built upon his inherent sincerity and evolve into something impenetrable?The magazine photoshoot took place in an old house in Shanghai. Perhaps the wiring was old and couldn't support sufficient current, there was a short circuit when the team had just arrived. The house was pitch black and was only lit by torchlight. The place was too narrow, props and clothes piled up and there was no walking space, so the people who had no duties at that time were squashed along the aisle or sat on bar stools. A couple of steps away, Yu Shi was curled up in a low and small couch, getting his hairstyle adjusted as he chatted and laughed with everyone.

At that time the video director prepared a pillow for him, with the seams removed and feathers would fly when pressed. As the music began, Yu Shi twirled holding the pillow above his head, danced, and the feathers danced around too, the lights hazy. When the music ended, he turned his head and paused- everyone's coats and down jackets didn't go unscathed, everyone's hair had feathers in them and were laughing at each other. Yu Shi carefully rolled up the withered prop, placed it neatly and laughed as well. "Sorry, sorry, I killed a pillow."

His humor triggered off something. As he looked at the feathers on his hair, Yu Shi got inspired and suggested to the photographer "how about we try a few photos like this?" The photographer smiled and gave an ok sign and he posed immediately. Everyone enthusiastically matched up to his moment of inspiration, scooped the runaway feathers and created an atmosphere of rainfall. Very quickly, the cover image of his single 《梦幻泡影 Pipedream》 was born.

In the eyes of the crew, "Yu Shi isn't the kind to wait for things to come his way, he's good at igniting the passion in the team. It isn't a linear way of everyone carrying out their duties but injecting a lot of thoughts and inspiration from coming together." But in private, he's a sincere and interesting friend who takes care and understands others.

After the shoot that day, we made space to have a room for the interview. "This won't do," Yu Shi felt that the bar stools that were prepared wasn't convenient to relax and converse. He surveyed his surroundings and nudged the only chair available over. "Why don't you sit here." But there were no other chairs, so he sat on top a small coffee table. Not long after, he shifted a bar stool over and gestured "you can put all the recording stuff here."

The last time I saw Yu Shi was in Beijing. It was snowing. Filming took place from noon till nine at night, and it was nearly eleven when the interview was over. As I stood to bid farewell, I was shocked to discover that his teammates were all seated on the floor- there was actually a couch and chairs in the make-up room. Everyone was doing their own thing, huddled together talking softly, breaking into laughing from time to time. None of them felt it was problematic to sit on the floor, and they all looked really joyful.

Gift - having repeatedly tasted the bitter medicine, and so the gift from destiny had arrived

At Weibo Night, Yu Shi posted a group of photos which appeared to be him cutting his hair short at the mirror. At first the make-up artist specially prepared a wig and was making preparations to style him. But at the photoshoot, Yu Shi suggested to "try something different." He also picked a special present that day, Director Cao Baoping's "precious jar" (T/N: precious jar is also pronounced bao ping, a reference to the director's name)

His popularity expanded as the year draws to a close. Various schedules, including his birthday at the end of the year, Yu Shi received many blessings and gifts. Needless to say, he was joyful. What was most delightfully surprising is the love and support from his family. Crossing nearly half of China by flight, his parents had arrived specially to spend his birthday with him and watched his Hainan rehearsals and hosting debut. One week later on Shanghai's countdown stage, Yu Shi descended on wireworks, announcing his new movie role and even sang two songs. Also in the crowd clapping and cheering below the stage was his mother.

When the countdown ceremony ended, Yu Shi returned to Tsingdao for additional filming of 《封神 Creation of the Gods》. Nearly all of them were night scenes, his days and night went topsy turvy. He was used to playing the guitar, reading and writing at night, sometimes even worried about too much brain stimulation at night. "When I can't fall asleep it affects me, I have work the next day. I play videos about the universe at night and listen to Professor Ai's lectures (T/N: Ai Yue Jin, a Marxist and Maoism academia). Anyway I gradually get sleepy as I tune in." And now it's the other way around, major night scenes every day, heading back to sleep as the skies start to turn bright. In between the busyness and exhaustion he found stability.

Too many dreams were fulfilled in the past year. Returning to 《封神 Creation of the Gods》 production at the start of the year, it was as if a loop was formed. On the keywords of 2023, Yu Shi went silent for a long while. "Very complicated. There's a lot of things that touched me. A mixed bag of feelings."

When he was young a birthday gift that left the deepest impression was a basketball jersey. This year, as he pushed open the door after a day's work, was a dazzling sight. During his teenage years in the basketball team "I was facing setbacks almost every day, but the high pressure environment had made me more determined, I was just able to ensure through it all." He honestly expresses all his emotions and desires. In the past days of waiting, his earphones played many Liang Bo and Wu Bai songs, he feels that getting a sense of satisfaction from doing the things he likes is the best condition to be in. That's what music should be too. "When I was young my grandfather taught me to play the er hu, the flute, he really liked traditional music, but I was poor in both of them. It was until later that I learnt the guitar on my own. He gained satisfaction and has now released his own song.

His rich memories had evidently created the foundation of his personality. In the love wrapped in gentleness that he had received and the sharp piercing grueling training he had undergone, he grew into adulthood. Having repeatedly tasted the bitter medicine, and so the gift from destiny had arrived.

Many dramatic moments happened. From his perspective, the period of waiting was also a gift, the layering of experiences was injected into his life, becoming his observation of art, life and people. In the period of March and April last year, Yu Shi was still reading on his bicycle in Beijing, stopping as he wished, watching the congestion of people and traffic. "The weather was really wonderful, no haze, the sun was shining on the people passing by, really bright, there were also little dust particles moving in the air. You don't know their names and what these people had experienced, but the sun was warm. If you smile, someone would be smiling back at you. Every time this happens, I feel like I love this world a little more."

As work entered into rapid mode, such experiences became lesser. Yu Shi remained nimble, keeping that vivid and pure part of him. The day when movie 《星愿 WISH》 premiered, he received a small Valentino (T/N: Yu Shi voiced the character of Valentino) plushy. He couldn't keep his hands off it, bringing it wherever he went the entire day, even placing it on the table when at dinnertime. During that time he was working round the close and had lack of sleep. When the fireworks started, Yu Shi fell asleep as he took a nap on the couch hugging Valentino.

His nap was documented through behind the scenes recording by his team. He had almost no recollection of it, but he was feeling mostly happy that day. After wards, he detailed another nap time he had, where he had a strange dream. "I was rather tired that day and fell asleep in a daze as soon as I laid down when I returned to the hotel. Then I dreamt that my mobile phone was glowing, and many pictures flowed out of it, a bearded old man stood there and said these things are for you. I looked down and those pictures were marked onto my hand like tattoos, the markings wouldn't budge," he said and laughed, gesturing. "How sturdy were the markings? How should I put it? Let me think, ah yes, like the branding on pork meat."- the people around couldn't help but laugh.

"Did you have any other impression at that time?" I asked.

"I forgot, but I remember I was really happy, and the person in the dream looked really benevolent," Yu Shi kept laughing. "I suppose it was a blessing."

Yachiyo: As her non-modelling work increases, she continues to wait for Iroha's return while making Mikazuki Villa a place for magical girls to relax.

Tsuruno: She has handed over her role as drawcard for Banbanzai and has started to inherit her father's flavour. Also, apparently there is a chance her older sister will return and help out again.

Felicia: Inherited the role of drawcard for Banbanzai from Tsuruno. However, she swipes food while setting the tables, so customers complain that the portions are smaller than before.

Sana: Received a publishing offer for her picture books, but since she is invisible, she is getting support from the people around her as she begins her writing career.

Iroha/Ui: They continue to gather and file records along with the impurities from all over the world. They manage them in the Magia Record so that they can someday be conveyed to people.

Touka/Nemu: While compiling the gathered records of magical girls, they are also searching for a way to save magical girls using Uwasa.

Sakurako: The Uwasa itself remains in Kamihama, but she now lives in the same place as Iroha and her companions, assisting them.

The Sidemen were one of the biggest groups on YouTube and one that you were very familiar with. At the age of 23, you were a fair bit younger than some of its oldest members but yet you had a close relationship with JJ, whom you had met through YouTube.

You had started your channel when you were 17, just under four years ago, making makeup videos, which was a passion of yours when you were younger. Not that you were any good at it back then. Those videos quickly become unlisted when your channel started blowing up in late 2016, now nearing 20 million at the present time.

It wasn't long before you expanded your horizons and had started making different sorts of videos, including vlogs of your everyday life - which wasn't and still isn't that exciting in your opinion - and those where you just had a laugh, attempting to do stupid challenges that were so popular back then. It was those, however, that grew your channel. Your fans seemed to love them and so you gradually started to make more.

As your small channel began to grow significantly, it caught the attention of KSI, a member of the Sidemen, who reached out to you to for a collab. You were ecstatic. You couldn't believe it at the time, why would someone like KSI with 20 million subscribers want to collaborate with you? By that time, you couldn't exactly call yourself a small channel anymore, with almost 5 million subscribers but it still didn't make any sense to you.

You and JJ quickly bonded after filming together. You had a very similar sense of humour and interests. As the years went, the older boy became one of your best friends, the nature of your relationship being very teasing and flirtatious but the both of you knew it was a joke. It was just the way you both were.

Though despite having known him for nearing 3 years now, you had never met the rest of the Sidemen, with the exception of Simon, as he lived with JJ. Which is why when he texted asking you to collaborate with the Sidemen, you couldn't turn the offer down. You were a fan of the group and the content they were producing. You thought the videos that they made were exceptional, that they were pushing the envelope of the standard of content on YouTube and often found yourself excited for new videos.

He had explained that they were filming another of their 'Tinder in real life' but a YouTuber version with the likes of BambinoBecky and ChiWithAC. You were so excited. You were finally going to meet the rest of JJ's friends and you had the opportunity to be a part of a Sidemen Sunday.

You arrived at the studio the boys were filming at in the afternoon, finding and greeting JJ before he introduced you to the other sidemen in addition to Lux, Freezy and Stephen.

"And you've already met Simon." He finished.

"Yeah. Nice to finally meet you all. JJ tells me a lot about you guys." You laughed.

"Because that's assuring." Ethan pointed out with a chuckle, the other boys letting out agreements.

"Not all bad, I promise." You teased, winking at him. Ethan felt the blood rushing to his face, immediately becoming flustered and stumbling over his words. You found that you often had that effect on people as you could be very direct and flirtatious even when you didn't mean it. To you it was just friendly banter.

"Geez Y/N, stop flirting with people you met literally five minutes ago." JJ rolled his eyes.

"You sound a bit jealous, Jide." You smirked, a teasing grin spread across your face.

"Nah, allow it." There were eruptions of laughter around the room, coming from the boys. You were quick to notice Harry standing out of the way and was significantly quieter than the others, with what seemed to be a forced smile on his face.

Harry was in his own head, barely paying attention to what was going on around him. When JJ had told him that you were going to be in the next Sidemen video, he panicked. You were an accomplished YouTuber who he was quite fond of to say the least. Well, that would be an understatement, he had a fairly large crush on you. A crush that no one but Freezy and Lux knew about.

He knew that JJ had been friends with you for some time now but never considered the possibility of even meeting you. His anxiety acted as a barrier to even the thought of it. But he was currently in the same room as you and had said nothing more than a short 'hello'. He longed to have the confidence Ethan had to speak to you, even more so for you to look at him the way you were.

Already you were flirting with JJ and Ethan, something that caused a pit to form at the bottom of his stomach. He wouldn't admit it, but he could slowly feel the jealousy forming. Not that he had anything to be jealous about in the first place!

"Geez, is that an offer?!" Freezy yelled from the right side. You laughed, observing how Harry whispered furiously to the boy to stop and winked at him once he had could see. Your laughter only increased as you watched JJ step up.

"I'm JJ. I'm 28 and are you a raisin? Cause you're raising my dick." The boy in question stood in front of you so confidently, hands clasped together in front of him so seriously that you just lost it. By the time you composed yourself, there were tears almost falling from your eyes.

"A* for effort." You laughed, swiping right eliciting a cry of success.

You had wrapped up filming your segment of the video, which conveniently was the last of the day. You found JJ who you spoke to whilst the other boys were otherwise occupied talking to each other.

"Cheers for coming, Y/N/N. You've been great."

"Anything for you." You joked.

"Don't tempt me." He laughed. You could feel eyes on you, eyes that were burning into your side. You turned your head to see Harry staring you and JJ down before looking away after being caught in the act, and suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

"Does Harry not like me or something?" You whispered to JJ, feeling self-conscious all of a sudden.

"Not that I know of." He frowned looking at the younger boy. "He can be a bit awkward at times and gets flustered a lot."

"Right." You agreed. You excused yourself before sauntering up to the boy in question, calling his name to snap him out of the daze he appeared to be in.

"Oh, um hey Y/N." He stumbled.

"Hi." You smiled gently. "I uh, I was just wondering, do you... have I done something to offend you?"

"Offend me? Why, uh, why would you think that?" He rambled.

"It's just... it's nothing, it's probably just me overthinking things." You waved it off, feeling like a complete idiot.

"I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I don't like you. I don't not like you, in fact I really like you! Oh, um I mean I like you, you're very pretty." The boy couldn't stop rambling which made you laugh. "No, wait."

"You think I'm pretty?" You blushed interrupting him. Harry felt his mouth go dry, not being able to get anything coherent to come out. "Well, Harry, I really like you too."

"What?" His eyebrows shot up so far it was almost comical. "Really? So, you don't like the other guys?"

"What? No." You laughed. "That's absurd. Why would you think that?"

"You seemed very..." The boy trailed off, not wanting to offend you after you had admitted to liking him.

"Flirty?" You finished, causing him to nod. "I'm like that with everyone, I don't mean to be half the time."

"Oh."

"Well, how about you give me your phone number and when you finally grow a pair, you can ask me out?" Your confidence levels had shot up spontaneously.

"Uh, sure." His cheeks had become a dark shade of red as he passed his phone to you so you could put your number in. You kept looking up at him as you typed, putting your name under 'Y/N x' in his contacts before handing it back to him.

"Y/N! Come on! We're going to Nando's!" JJ called from the other side of the room.

"Call me." You winked. Your bottom lip was caught between your teeth and was currently the only thing from stopping the wide grin from spreading across your face. A grin that hadn't disappeared from your face for the rest of the day, much to the curiosity of JJ, who was disappointed when you refused to tell him why, or more appropriately who, had put the smile on your face.

Twice Reaction : How You Meet

Continuing the opening theme, here’s how you met Twice HAHAAH I hope you enjoy! 

Im Nayeon 

When your younger sister was in high school, she complained constantly about this one girl she was always competing with in her class. You had it in your head that whoever this was, was terrible for causing your sister so much emotional trouble over the years. 

You’d almost gone there and talked to her yourself, little did you know that her older sister almost did the same back then. With much convincing from each party, you’d never met either your sister’s rival nor her own sister. 

The apparent rivalry never actually ended as after high school, they wound up going to the same college. They were stuck in the same place they were in their younger years. While they became a little more civil as maturity rained over them, they were still somewhat petty and highly competitive in their work together. 

One day, she was doing some research project they had for a class they had together. You had to pick her up since they’d finished rather late at night. You, tired from your own work day, walked drowsily up the door and knocked softly, not to disturb any of the neighbours. When the door swung open, your tired eyes sprung open. 

Im Nayeon stood there with curious eyes. Both of you staring so intently into each other’s eyes and you felt a chill down your spine. Breaking the trance you stood in, an annoyed groan falling from your sister’s lips. 

“What is that? That’s barely anything See-Yoon...” She whined from down the hall, the voice gradually getting louder. You chuckled softly at your sister’s reaction. “Come on, don’t be so hard on your friend, sis.” You said playfully from the door. 

“Y/n-unnie!” Your sister called happily from the hallway. You smiled and waved. She took a deep breath and said, “Sorry we might be a little longer with this project because someone messed something up.” Your sister said before returning to the room she was in, faint bickering from the back. 

“That might take a while...” Nayeon muttered under her breath before inviting you in. “It’s nice to finally put a face to the name.” The idol said after securely locking the door. The bickering was getting increasingly louder. 

“We really need to put an end to that.” You said pointing to the source Nayeon invited you to sit down and as you did, you could feel her lingering gaze on you. “Well, I’d love to meet up with you again to talk about what we could do.” The brunette offered with a growing smirk. You laughed, amused by the statement. 

“I like the way you think, Im.” 

Yoo Jeongyeon

It was a running gag between the members of the group how obsessed Jeongyeon had become with you and your YouTube channel. Every time she’d be in a bad mood she’d watch your reactions to movies, games and random day vlogs. It was her joy at the end of a long day. 

You, on the other hand, didn’t involve yourself too much with kpop or its other affiliations. It was mostly because it wasn’t really your thing. You wouldn’t have had anything to do with it until your friends suggested you do a video on it. Now, you were on board for the idea but didn’t think much of it. 

Then they started you off with Twice. Other than the sets and the obsessive beats, you couldn’t keep your eyes off of Jeongyeon. You found yourself staring at her with your face flushing at her vocals. 

“Y/n has a crushh~!” One of your friends said making you blush harder. 

With that one statement, the internet went wild looking for pieces of evidence to link the both of you together. While you both found it amusing, JYPE tried their best to minimise your public contact with one another. But you, being a little reckless and maybe had hopes of Jeongyeon noticing you a little more, did another reaction on their recently released music video. 

Right after that video was posted, ONCES and solo-Jeongyeon fans began bashing you a little, making it seem that you did it just for clout. You’d realised that you’d much rather talk to her one-on-one than talking about her in a video. 

The next award show you and Twice were invited to, you’d made a plan to connect with her by handing your number to staff members. You anxiously waited on your phone after the show, when it pinged you felt your heart race and you bit your lip before opening your phone. 

You smiled and looked out the window at the short message. Your skin heating up at the thought of her. 

‘Hi! I’m glad you reached out...I’m excited to get to know you more 😊’

Hirai Momo 

Everyone told her to take a break, to rest her body and her mind first. Did she listen? Yeah, no. Momo worked twice as hard, put in more hours, and it led her here. In the emergency room because she twisted her ankle and sprained it. 

The Japanese girl, Jihyo, and their managers were all anxiously waiting in the large and empty waiting area. Jihyo was busy scolding her when you walked up to the reception. You flipped through the file and looked up at the nurses fangirling over the idol sitting in pain. 

“Did you at least elevate her leg?” You asked rhetorically, already knowing they haven’t. The silence made you roll your eyes and moved towards the trio while the Japanese girl wince in pain. Momo adjusted herself on the chair making the foot more irritated. 

You put your hand on her shoulder and placed a foot over her thigh. “Calm down, ma’am. You shouldn’t move.” You said before getting onto one knee and examined the swelling ankle. 

While you were distracted by testing the severity, Momo couldn’t keep her eyes off of you. The stern look on your face, the delicate way she held you. You were a doctor and were supposed to act that way with patients but you were so gentle and it piqued her interest. 

“Does this hurt?” You asked making her groan in pain. The expression on your face contorted as you whisper apologies. “Okay, well, the swelling isn’t too bad and the sprain is very mild but you should avoid any strenuous activities, especially on your feet for one week.” You wrote something down on a paper quickly. You stared at her directly and her pulse sparked to life. 

“This is a prescription for some for the pain but only take it if the pain is severe.” You said quickly and turned to return to the receptionists to scold them for not giving Momo immediate medical attention. 

“What about your personal number?” The Japanese girl asked suddenly to which you chuckled softly. You turned back to her a smirk evident on your features. “In case I need to ask anything.” She added to save herself, the blush on her face intensifying. You nodded and scribbled it down on a pad before handing it to her. 

“Emergencies only, Miss Hirai.” You reminded before turning and walking away. 

Minatozaki Sana

Sana had always been interested in music, much more now that she was exposed to different talents. Singing and instruments. Twice wasn’t a group that needed to play their own instruments. They had background sounds for that. Despite that though, Sana wanted to learn out of pure curiosity. 

After months of begging, JYP finally agreed and sought out a music teacher who could teach her the basics of guitar, simple enough. Sana waited patiently in their dorm, excited to learn something to share with her fans and members. The Japanese girl plucked a string curiously when the door unlocked and her manager walked in with you. 

You smiled at her manager and thanked him softly. He’d reminded you that if you needed anything to call him. You nodded and smiled warmly at Sana before bowing before her. 

“It’s nice to meet you, miss Minatozaki.” You said respectfully. “Shall we start?” You asked before sitting next to her. 

You tried your best to maintain your composure despite how your heart pounded violently against your chest. Shaking your head you demonstrated how her fingers were supposed to sit on the strings. After a few attempts she could perform a number of basic chords with ease. 

However, she still had some difficulty with certain chords. You scratched the back of your head and set your guitar aside before sitting beside her. You raised your eyes to meet hers, silently asking her if it was okay. Sana smiled and scooted closer to you.

You placed your hand over hers delicately, moving her fingers onto the right strings. She desperately tried to focus on what you were saying to her but she was distracted by the warmth you provided and the relaxing scent that lingered on the jacket you wore. 

“Did you get it?” You asked with a smile. Her eyes widened and she nodded with a nervous smile. 

The session ended and Sana walked you out with your manager. You smiled at her and said, “I’ll see you again next week, miss Minatozaki!” 

“Sana.” She said happily. 

You turned to face her again. “Sana.” 

Park Jihyo 

As Twice’s leader, Jihyo did a lot of the speaking for them during most of their public events. As their popularity grew in the international scale their management thought it’d be best if at least one of them was fluent in speaking English. 

Jihyo was willing and stood up to the plate to learn on behalf of the group. They threw different tutors and tried all sorts of methods to get the leader to acquire the language. She was in a library, reviewing the material she had. The Korean girl read sample sentences out loud trying to practice her pronunciation.  

“You’re saying it wrong, you know...” You said from another table. While she found your tone incredibly rude, she looked over at you and saw your eyes glued to the book you had in front of you. “What does it matter to you?” She asked becoming irritated at your aloof expression. 

You closed the book you had and looked over at her and smiled. “I’ve just noticed you coming here often. Different teachers but the same lessons.” You elaborated. A silence hung over you both, you were beginning to feel bad for your harshness while she began questioning if she could do this or not. 

Trapped in her thoughts she didn’t notice you rising to your feet. 

“Y/F/N.” You said putting your hand out. Jihyo stared at it before awkwardly taking it. “Look, if you want, I can help with your English.” You offered before she raised a brow, questioning you slightly. 

“What’s in it for you?” Jihyo asked crossing her arms, suspicious of the sarcastic stranger she’d just met. You laughed softly at her question. “Just some time with a pretty girl who can’t understand when I’m flirting with her.” You replied in English making her confused, unable to piece together your entire thought. 

You shook your head and said again, “I just feel particularly charitable.” She chuckled softly. “Help me with these for now and we’ll see how it goes.” 

You nodded and sat in front of Jihyo. “Let’s start.” 

Myoui Mina

Since Mina was a trainee, she only frequented a handful of places to not draw too much attention to herself. A small and local mall, a remote park, and restaurants where only she and her members could navigate to. Her favourite spot was a small café close to the company building. 

Every time she’d have a hard day from recordings or dance practices, she’d sneak off and sit there and feel like a normal person again. All the glitz and glamour was fun but she got tired too. This place was her closest safe haven. 

After a rough dance session, she trudged her way to that café and inhaled the comfortingly familiar smell of coffee grounds and a freshly cleaned floor. The regular barista smiled at her with a pair of sympathetic eyes. 

The Japanese girl approached the counter with a dramatic huff to which the employee laughed heartily. “Hard day, Minari?” She asked with a lot of familiarity. Mina nodded and asked for her usual. After telling her it’ll be a few minutes, she found herself a seat in the cozy space. The idol hunched into the chair tiredly. 

She’d felt like she was about to fall asleep, as she has before in the establishment, before the glass door swung open with a soft ringing of the bell. Mina’s eyes sleepily looked up from her hunched over position and they grew at seeing the new figure in the space. 

Someone she’d never seen before...you. The regular employees looked at you before smiling brightly at you. “Hey Y/n!” They called before you rushed to join them behind the counter, wearing a white apron. “I’m sorry I’m late, classes ran longer today.” You apologised as you finished getting your hair out of your face. 

Mina’s eyes were trained intently on you as you fluidly turned and pulled valves behind the counter. You handed the coffee to another employee as you began talking about the day you had. 

The Japanese girl’s coffee came a little after you entered and she motioned for the employee to come a little lower. “Is she new?” Mina asked softly, eyes still glued to your smooth-flowing form. “Yeah. She said she needed a job bad.” 

You looked up at her, a bright smile and a wink leading Mina to blush softly. Your co-worker saw what had happened and smirked. “Y/n!” She called as you raised your head again, walking over to the table where Mina was stuck in her chair, looking up at you. 

“This is Mina, she’s one of our best customers.” She pat Mina’s shoulder softly. “Mina, this is Y/F/N” She added, patting your back. “Be kind to her please, Y/n.” You nodded and grinned. Her blush only deepening at seeing the taller girl. 

“Gladly.” You said turning back to the 

Kim Dahyun

"Loosen up, miss Kim!” You cringed at the loud yelling coming from production managers and other soft comments coming from the staff. Dahyun shrunk under the relatively loud instructions and proceeded to move about. You snapped as many photos of the moving idol as possible. Some were rather nice you thought, but not nice enough for the set directors to silence themselves. 

You were a small-time photographer who knew one of the production managers for Kim Dahyun’s solo photobook. While he considered you two good friends, you were irritated with how he treated the people he directed. This was moment was one of those examples. 

He never even introduced you two, creating no bond between the camera and the subject. 

After a few minutes more, Dahyun’s manager asked if it was okay to take a brake, seeing that she was already becoming drained. Your friend rolled his eyes and waved his hand at the manager, making the rage in you boil with fever. Dahyun walked off set running a hand through her styled hair. 

You stared at him skimming through the photos that were taken. He scoffed and rubbed his temples. “You didn’t have to yell at her you know.” You muttered, adjusting the settings of the camera to which he laughed softly at your statement. “She’s an idol, she gets comments like this all the time. Your photos are shit by the way.” He muttered rudely. 

You bit the inside of your mouth, choosing your words very carefully. “First off, you already know she gets so much hate daily and your bright idea is to pile onto that.” You said setting down your camera. Your words were beginning to draw eyes, including Dahyun’s. “Another thing, the photos are that quality because you think yelling means direction. You never even told her or asked what she should or could do. You shoved her in front of a camera assuming she knows what you wanted.” 

You both stared at each other with such contempt before you were both pulled away by staff members, each scolding you for unprofessional behaviour. After that you were both kept away from each other while taking a break. 

You stood by the provided snack table, mindlessly flipping the packaged crackers as you tried to remain calm. Suddenly, a pale figure appeared beside you. You jumped surprised at the sudden company you had and relaxed seeing it was Dahyun. A silence looming over you both before you decided to speak. 

“I’m sorry about what happened back there. My behaviour and his.” You said bowing a little. She gave you a bright yet polite smile before responding. “It’s fine. I should be sorry for being so tense. It’s just that I’m not completely used to doing this on my own.” 

You nodded, understanding her situation. She was in a group, it was only natural she was used to photoshoots with other people around other than staff. 

“How about this...” You began, fully facing her. “I provide more instruction, try keeping others from yelling at you and you smile and loosen up. I’ll try to give as much energy as your members would, I promise.” You added making her laugh a little at your statement but she nodded none the less. 

“I never got your name...” She asked. You smiled and said, “Y/F/N.” 

“Well, I’m glad you’re here, Y/F/N!” 

Son Chaeyoung 

Chaeyoung usually didn’t go out to buy things from grocery stores. Rather she’d buy the necessities not provided to them at the nearest convenience store. This particular instance though, they didn’t have what she needed. Instead of defeatedly walking home, she thought a quick trip to the grocery store wouldn’t hurt anyone. 

She texted the members asking what they needed at the dorm and that she would pick it up for now and just get repaid by Jihyo when she got home. One of Momo’s requests was a specific bag of chips. While on the search for the bag of chips, her eyes finally landed on the brand of chips. 

On the top shelf. 

Which she couldn’t reach. 

Well, this was a problem now. The short girl looked around to see if there were any clerks that could possibly help her retrieve the, in her opinion, incorrectly placed chips. Sighing at the fact that no one was around that could help her, she made a single attempt to get it herself. Chaeyoung stretched as high as she could in an attempt to get the highly placed chips. 

She huffed at the failure to get Momo’s request. As she was about to walk away, a voice called out to her. 

“Is it the chips you want, miss?” She turned and looked up at you. You pointed to the top shelf which was well within your reach. Chaeyoung nodded frantically like a child and you chuckled at her mannerism. You reached up and grabbed the bag she so desperately wanted. You handed it to her and she smiled brightly up at you. 

You giggled and said, “You are adorable.” 

The rapper immediately blushed and actually got a good look at your face. You weren’t conventionally girly in her opinion. Much like her you gave off a different vibe and she was curious. You smiled at her staring before turning a heel and made an attempt to walk away. 

She snapped out of her daze, calling out to you, “Thank you by the way! Can I at least get your name,” She paused and fiddled with her fingers for a moment. “Maybe a way to return the favor?” 

You looked back at her, an amused expression on your face before turning around. “Well first off, I don’t give my name to strangers. Second, how about we get a snack and then get to know each other.” You offered. 

“Then can you tell me your name?” Chaeyoung challenged, a little grin growing on her face. 

“We’ll see, shortstop.” You teased, which earned you a light punch on the arm as you both walked down the grocery aisle together. 

Chou Tzuyu 

Tzuyu stayed at their dorm the most out of all of the members. Mostly because she preferred the silence and comfort their home brought her. It was her the space she felt safest in a foreign country. Of course there were little things that annoyed her, other than the girls being loud late at night. One thing was the college kids that lived next door. 

Their dorm was located relatively close to a small university so there were a few student tenants in the building. Sometimes, the atmosphere around their unit was calm and she could sometimes hear faint piano instrumentals in the background. Other times, it was loud and rowdy music with lots of loud voices and occasional thumping.  

One night, after a grueling day of practices, recording, and a brief fan meet later on in the day, the loud and irritating noises came from the unit beside them. Tzuyu wasn’t the type to barge in all of a sudden and make a scene. She was quite the opposite, but all the girls were tired, including herself. Tzuyu couldn’t take it anymore. 

She walked to Twice’s dorm door and opened it seeing college kids enter the unit, all with grinning and laughing faces. A party in full swing next door. She could have taken notice of some students clearly underage drinking, the couples walking off on their own, literally anything else, but instead, her eye caught a lone wolf on the side. A text book on your lap and a notebook on the floor, sitting outside the unit.

You. 

She stared at you curiously, ignoring the ruckus for a minute and walked over to you. You were so focused on reading the material for one of your finals that you didn’t even notice Tzuyu already standing before you until she cleared her throat, catching your attention. 

Your eyes shifted up and met with Tzuyu’s brown ones, trying not to swoon at her appearance. Then you’d realised, the party must’ve disturbed her as well. Your face cringed and you opened your mouth to speak. 

“I’m sorry about the noise. I’ve been telling my roommates to move it up to the roof.” You said putting the text book down, giving the tall idol your full attention. “But they kick me out and have me stay in the hall.” Tzuyu giggled and nodded. 

“I’ll talk to them again when they aren’t drunk from another bar. I promise.” You said pointing at your roommates who welcomed more people into your unit. Tzuyu smiled and thanked you softly before heading back to their dorm. She stopped in the middle of the hall and turned back to you. 

“If you ever need a place to study and not get kicked out, you can always come over.” She stated, pointing to their dorm. “If anything breaks or goes missing, I know where you live.” The Taiwanese girl joked making you laugh softly and nod. “Thank you Tzuyu.” 

“You’re welcome neighbour.” 

She walked away a dopey grin falling onto her lips, completely forgetting to tell the college kids off. Instead finding a diamond in the rough in the sea of drunk teens and young adults.

Ok right of the bat let me just say I don’t think this would be shared

I feel like he would make it as a sort of keepsake for you both, and of course Jude when he’s older

I feel like Johnny would want to keep it as a memory that he could always go back to,, I feel like he loves to do that

He gets the idea to start about three weeks in, it kind of just comes to him

‘Let me take a photo of you,’ Johnny says as you’re getting ready for bed.

‘Why?’ You respond, confused.

‘I want to take a photo of you every week,’ he explains, ‘then when you have them we can put them all together and just look back on it in the future.’

You comply, rolling up your shirt.

Your stomach is pretty much unchanged, but he just snaps a quick photo regardless.

‘Pretty,’ he muses, while you climb back into your shared bed.

A lot of your first trimester was just stressful tbh full of meetings with SM and trying to figure out the best way forward, as well as the sickness that Johnny would try his best to help you through, tying up your hair and bringing you water

Which is also why he never records telling the members because it honestly took place in the form of a meeting and was a genuinely serious conversation

You honestly don’t really notice him recording much at first

A lot of what he does is make voice recordings when he talks to the baby,,,

Sometimes when he feels demotivated or burnt out when practicing he often listens to them to feel better change my mind <3

He puts down a camera in the clinic which films a lot of your first scan, filming you having the cold gel put on your stomach and the way you shiver.

‘It’s so cold,’ you turn to Johnny, who chuckles softly.

‘You’ll get used to it soon,’ the nurse smiles, producing the ultrasound want from seemingly out of nowhere and resting it on your stomach

At first, all you see is grey on the screen, the outline of your uterus materialising gradually

‘Lets try and find them,’ the nurse murmurs, moving the probe around more, spreading the gel around a bit.

‘Wow,’ Johnny gasps, the silhouette of your baby come into view.

‘There they are,’ the nurse narrates.

Johnny is close to tears, unable to tear his eyes away from the monitor, while your face contorts into one of absolute amazement and just pure love

The nurse giggles at your stunned silence

At this point Johnny is basically sobbing he feels so happy and overwhelmed and feels just complete for the first time in a while

Of course several screenshots are taken of the ultrasound and you hang onto a copy of it to eventually send to Johnny’s parents once they know

There’s a series of clips of your symptoms, including you shoving massive amounts of ice cream into your mouth, sleeping like a baby in Johnny’s arms with tear tracks all down your cheeks and eventually the sight of a twelve week bump finally rearing it’s head

‘Okay, are you ready?’ Johnny asks you, camera pointed at the screen of the laptop, which had zoom open.

‘Ready as I’ll ever be,’ your hands are shaking wildly, and you gulp loudly.

‘We’re going to be just fine, baby…’ he reassures you, leaning across to kiss the side of your head and then tilting your chin to catch your lips

Your head is resting on Johnny’s shoulder when his parents answer the video call

‘Hello you two,’ Johnny’s mother beams,

‘Hey! Mom! Dad!’ Johnny grins back, and you cant find any words to say due to your nerves

You remain silent for a few moments to allow the family to greet each other, but then eventually his parent’s attention turns to you.

‘Oh, Y/N, how are you?’ Johnny’s mom asks you, and your stomach turns

‘I’m good, thank you,’ you force a smile.

‘You look beautiful,’ she comments, ‘you’re almost…. glowing.’

‘Thank you,’ you smile more genuinely this time, considering for the last twelve weeks you’ve been feeling like shit.

‘Anyway, what’s this about?’ Johnny’s dad questions, ‘why did you both need to talk to us?’

‘Well…’ Johnny starts, grabbing your hand off screen and squeezing it, ‘we both have something that we want to tell you.’

‘What is it?’

‘You’re not engaged- are you?’ his mother gasps.

’No, no, it’s not that,’ Johnny shakes his head.

‘What is it then?’

‘Y/N is- well, we’re going to be having a baby...’

You panic at the silence that comes after Johnny’s words, but eventually it is filled with his mother squeaking out a ‘you’re pregnant?’

You nod, chewing on the bottom of your lip anxiously.

‘Oh my god, are you really?’

’Show them,’ Johnny murmurs, and you stand up, rolling up your shirt so that your bump is on show.

Johnny’s mother squeals once again, while his dad just grins.

‘Congratulations!’ They’re both seem absolutely thrilled which hugely calms you down.

‘I knew it when I saw you!’ His mother exclaims when you sit down, ‘like I said, you’re glowing!’

’Thank you,’ you smile sheepishly.

You can’t help but notice how they haven’t even mentioned the company/Johnny’s career and it just felt so nice to just focus on something else for once

The next day you send a copy of the ultrasound photo in the mail <3

‘Y/N, would you like to tell the camera why we’re going through the Mcdonald’s drive through at two-thirty in the morning?’

You glare at Johnny, taking his words as annoyance.

‘Well, it’s your fault I’m fucking pregnant isn’t it,’ you huff, ‘I just want an Oreo McFlurry, but you have to give me all that cheek like it’s MY fault-’

Johnny just shoots the camera a look.

The scene changes to you two parked in the Mcdonald’s car park, you holding your ice cream and eating it quietly.

You can see your growing bump clearly through your leggings, and Johnny takes a moment to admire it.

‘You look so pretty like this,’ he hums, and you stare at him through your half lidded eyes.

‘Eating ice cream?’

‘No- with our baby.’

You’re too tired to argue, too tired to point out all of the ugly things that have come with your pregnancy, so you just lean across the console (with some effort) and kiss him on the lips before resting your head in his neck.

‘Thank you for driving me here so late.’

‘It’s my pleasure,’ he kisses your head, ‘I’d do anything for you, and them.’

‘Can you believe we get to find out what they are next week?’

‘I know,’ Johnny shakes his head in disbelief, ‘this… it’s gone so fast.’

You nod in agreement, ‘I think it’s a boy.’

‘Really?’ He says, eyes widening slightly.

‘Yep. I just have a feeling that our baby will look exactly like you.’

‘I haven’t really thought about it… I’ve been too focused on figuring out how I’m going to be a good dad.’

You remove your head from his shoulder, shoving your now empty ice cream cup into the drink holder.

‘John Suh, you have practically raised several of your members, what makes you think that you can’t do it now?’

‘This is different,’ he sighs, ‘I’m literally responsible for a human life here…’

‘You took care of Mark,’ you point out, ‘you took care of Ten, helped him learn Korean and adapt and grow into a brand new country where he knew nothing. You can do the exact same thing with our son or daughter.’

There’s a silence as he considers your words, before he sighs softly, ‘I can’t wait to meet them. I promise I’ll always be there-’

‘I know you will be. I trust you.’

‘Thank you. I love you both with all of my heart.’

‘We love you too. Now, we would love you even more if you could take us through the drive-thru again and get another McFlurry.’

Johnny just laughs lowly, putting the key in the ignition and turning it, so the car flares to life once again, ‘only because I love you.’

The scene changes, and once again you’re sitting in the car, except this time it’s daytime.

‘We’re on the way to the doctors right now,’ you narrate, sweaty palms quite clearly kneading Johnny’s hands, ‘time to find out whether you’re a boy or a girl.’

‘Everyone is pretty sure you’re a boy,’ Johnny says, ‘I’m still not sure.’

‘Well you’ll know in an hour anyway,’ you deadpan, ‘and you’ll see that I’m right.’

‘Whatever you say,’ he grins.

‘I’ve been wondering recently what they’re going to think when they watch this video in the future,’ you tell Johnny.

‘Don’t say that,’ he shudders, ‘I’m just imagining them to be all grown up and that’s scary.’

‘They’ll be all grown up when they watch this,’ you point out.

‘Well hey, grown up baby Suh, hope we didn’t completely fuck you up-‘

‘John-‘

‘Sorry,’ he chuckles, ‘I hope they’re laughing.’

The video cuts to a new scene, a very blindingly white one, where you’re laying on a bed in the doctor’s office.

‘Are you ready Y/N?’ The nurse asks, applying the familiar gel to your stomach.

‘As ready as I’ll ever be,’ you reply, eyes squeezing shut at the coldness, trying to focus on the way Johnny plays with your hair.

Johnny’s parents are on facetime, waiting in anticipation to hear the results.

The nurse spends a few minutes showing you the ways in which the baby has grown, playing the heartbeat for you and just generally checking things over.

’Now for the moment I know you’ve been waiting for,’ she says, which earns chuckles from all four of you.

She spends about a minute moving the wand around, clearly trying to find the right angle to check

‘Ok, I can see now,’ the Nurse says, ‘you ready?’

‘Just say it!’ Johnny’s mother yells from the phone, making the rest of you crack up.

‘It very much appears that you’re having a baby boy.’

‘A boy,’ Johnny echos, kissing your forehead repeatedly as you tear up.

You can hear Johnny’s parents hollering and clapping through the screen.

‘I told you,’ you whisper, laughing through the tears, ‘I knew it would be.’

‘You were right, angel..’

‘Aren’t you happy?’ You ask, noticing that he hasn’t said anything yet.

‘Incredibly,’ he’s choked up, the words get caught in his throat, ‘love you both so so much.’

The scene changes to you in a shop, looking intensively at a stuffed giraffe.

Johnny turns the camera to himself, and you can see the way his mask is pulled up to below his eyes, black Chicago Cubs cap also pulled down so that his eyes are shielded.

He tries to make a face at the camera, but questions whether or not you could tell.

‘John, what do you think?’ You ask quietly, holding up a white bear, ‘should we get the white one, the grey one, or the blue one? I feel as though if we get the white then that will make his bedroom too bright and then he won’t be able to sleep, and the blue feels almost sexist, in a way-‘

’Don’t stress yourself out, angel,’ Johnny murmurs quietly, ‘it’s not that huge of a deal… but if you’re asking me, get the grey. It’ll look nice with the white bedding.’

You sigh deeply, switching the white bear for the grey one, ‘you’re right. How did I not see that before.’

‘What can I say,’ he shrugs, ‘I’m just incredible at interior design.’

‘I hope you feel the same way when you build the rest of the furniture with Jaehyun and Ten this weekend.’

‘I volunteered-‘

‘You had no choice, I can’t exactly do it myself, can I?’

Johnny just laughs quietly.

‘Also, Jude, yes I am talking about your uncles-‘

‘I didn’t realise we had settled on Jude,’ Johnny interrupts.

‘Oh, uh, yeah right. Force of habit. It just feels right to say.’

‘He does feel like a Jude, I agree, but I think we need to explore some more options.’

’Not John Jr again,’ you whine, ‘I’m telling you, it sounds like a euphemism.’

‘Okay, fine, Jude it is.’

‘Really?’ You squeal, trying not to literally jump for joy.

‘Yeah,’ Johnny grins, ‘I love it.’

‘Yay!’ you clap, grabbing his shoulder to steady yourself to give him a massive kiss on the cheek (where his mask wasn’t covering), ‘thank you.’

‘No, thank you.’

The video changes to you two laying on your shared bed, Johnny’s head resting against your twenty week bump.

You can clearly see the way your skin pulses as Jude kicks from inside of you.

‘John, look, you can see the shape of his foot,’ you point out, prodding the area where he last kicked.

‘I can see,’ Johnny turns his head to kiss the area softly, making a light pecking sound.

You haven’t noticed that he’s filming, so you’re just absentmindedly kneading your fingers through his hair, occasionally wincing and jumping as Jude delivered a particularly hard kick.

Johnny feels utterly blissful. The rest of the world has just melted away, and it’s only you two left.

He falls asleep on your lap, the video clip ending with you finding the camera and turning it off.

The image cuts off, and is replaced with Johnny sitting in a dark room, white glow of the laptop screen the only light.

‘Your mom is asleep in the other room,’ he says quietly, looking straight into the camera lens, ’so I’m going to try to be quiet.’

He clicks around on his laptop for a bit, typing quickly.

‘I am… currently booking plane tickets,’ he explains, while he waits for the website to load.

‘One way. One for me and one for your mother, to Chicago, where you’re going to be born.’

Again he’s silent for a while, eyebrows cocked in concentration.

‘We’re going to go about three and a half weeks before your due date, then we’ll probably come back when you’re six weeks old. Wait, will I have to book a plane ticket for you? I should probably find that out.’

He opens another tab.

’The fact that we’re going to have the same hometown,’ he bites his lip and shakes his head, ‘makes me so so so happy.’

‘And you’re going to meet your grandma and grandpa right away!’

You had both agreed that you would travel to Chicago in order to have Jude; it was the place where most of the family was, the people that he wanted to be surrounded by when his first child was born, and most importantly, it was away from all of the craziness of Korea.

The company had asked him to begin writing the famous handwritten note all SM idols do

He somewhat dreaded the response, but tried very hard to not show you this, as to not worry you even more

You could tell that there was something on his mind but you assumed it was just general nerves

Some time passes before Johnny eventually turns back to the camera, ‘okay, that’s our tickets booked. Just waiting on you now, little man.’

He smiles tiredly, reaching an arm out to turn off the camera.

‘Y/N?’ Mark asks, gingerly approaching you where you’re standing against the wall in the hallway.

‘Yes?’ You ask tiredly, moving your head from where it rested on your hand.

‘Are you feeling ok? Johnny sent me to check on you.’

‘I’m fine,’ you choke out.

It was comeback season, Johnny’s last  before going on a mini-hiatus for the sake of you and Jude.

You’d been feeling sick all day, dizziness and general sickness plaguing your whole body.

You noticed the way the members treated you, almost as if you’d break if they came near you.

‘We’re having a difficult day today, Jude,’ Johnny narrates, ‘your mama’s here, supporting me, but we’re… feeling a bit sick.’

You curl into his body, wrapping an arm around him.

He kisses your head, ‘do you need to sit down?’

You nod into his chest.

‘Okay,’ Johnny turns off his camera.

‘You can lay down on that couch if you want,’ a staff member tells you when you sit down, sinking into the cushions.

‘I’m fine,I’m fine,’ you mumble, not wanting to be a burden.

Another staff member was around to take care of you, bringing you things if you needed them, but you tried hard to not bother her.

‘We need to get you guys to the stage now,’ yet another staff member appears in the doorway, wearing a huge bulky headset.

‘See you later, Y/N,’ each of the members wave at you, Johnny pursuing a discreet kiss to your forehead.

‘We’re about to tell the world about you, Judey,’ Johnny mumbles at the camera, days later.

‘When are they posting it?’ You ask off screen.

‘At six,’ he answers, turning around so that you’re on screen.

You’re fondly cradling your bump underneath your white flowy shirt. You’ve actually gotten up today, bothering to dress somewhat nicely.

‘And it’s five fifty-eight now.’

‘Oh,’ you say dejectedly, and Johnny plops down on the couch next to you.

‘How are you feeling?’ He asks, resting his head on your shoulder.

‘Petrified,’ you sigh, ‘but it’s got to be done, I guess.’

‘We’ll be just fine,’ Johnny tries to reassure you.

‘I’m just scared of what people might say-‘

‘We’ve sent the post out now,’ a member of staff calls, and you feel almost like you’re going to begin hyperventilating.

‘You know what,’ Johnny springs to his feet, holding out a hand, ‘turn off your phone, let’s go for a drive.’

The next clip is of you, from a considerable distance, but of you.

You were sitting on a bench facing a view, holding a bottle of water.

You’d stopped off at a viewpoint, and Johnny had walked off to pa the parking meter.

‘Your mom is so pretty Jude,’ Johnny mutters under his breath to the camera, ‘appreciate her.’

The screen changes again.

Johnny flops down on your shared bed, looking deeply exhausted.

There’s an open suitcase next to his head, filled with a few baby grows, but mostly your own clothes.

‘We’re packing for Chicago,’ he grins, ‘we’re flying out in… four days. Four days.’

‘I am… scared… but it’s okay.’

‘I hope you’re excited too… and ready to come and meet us safely. I should probably keep packing.’

Johnny covers the camera with his hand, thinking to himself about how much of a vlogger he’s turning into.

‘It’s d-day,’ Johnny announces to the camera, which is sitting on the airport floor, tilted up at him.

‘Your mom is in the bathroom, of course. Our flight leaves in about an hour.’

Johnny had spent a lot of money thinking about you flying. He wanted to make sure that you were completely comfortable the whole time.

He’d booked two seats right next to each other, you know the ones that like recline and make like a double bed

Anyway you watch some movies together and you eventually decide to go to sleep

Night falls and Johnny can’t help but notice how peaceful you look

Eventually he gets bored himself and goes to sleep, slinging an arm around you.

‘Okay, we have landed,’ Johnny narrates, leaning against a railing outside the airport terminal.

Your head is leaning against his shoulder, eyes slowly drooping shut then reopening.

‘We’ve been through customs and everything- Y/N, how are you feeling?’

‘Tired,’ you reply, ‘as soon as we get to your parents house…. I’m falling asleep on the guest bed. With some chocolate cookies, preferably.’

‘So that’s that,’ Johnny deadpans.

The next video was the two of you in the backseat of his parents’ car.

You were fast asleep on Johnny’s shoulder, and Johnny is playing with your fingers with his spare hand

His mother is chatting away, practically attacking Johnny with questions

Johnny doesn’t pick up the camera again until later that night.

He’s sitting on the end of the bed, you’re half asleep in the background.

‘We’re getting settled in here,’ Johnny mumbles, just loud enough for the camera to actually pick up.

‘John, he’s kicking,’ you call, and Johnny immediately turns around to place a hand on your stomach.

Naturally, since you had been flying for several hours you did worry about the possible stress it could give Jude,, so when he moved and kicked it was a huge relief for you

‘Those are strong,’ he says.

‘I know,’ you reply, ‘it kind of hurts.’

‘You hear that, Jude? Stop hurting your mother.’

‘It’s okay,’ you mutter, ‘it’s better than nothing.’

You then let out a giant yawn, leaning back against the pillows with the tears of your yawn gathering in your eyes.

‘I think we’re going to head to bed now,’ Johnny says, letting out a massive yawn of his own, ‘all this travelling has taken a lot out of us. But we love you Judey, this if all for you. Goodnight.’

‘John, it hurts.’

It’s three weeks later, and you’re sitting on the bathroom floor clinging to your stomach.

‘I know,’ Johnny tries to comfort you, stroking your hair as you’re nearly crying in his chest.

Johnny’s mother enters the room, ‘I’ve called the midwife, she’s on her way now…. How far apart are your contractions?’

‘About five minutes.’

‘You’re getting quite close now,’ his mom remarks as you whine.

You’d woken up in such horrific pain, and after a few minutes of laying in bed you’d come to the conclusion that they were contractions.

‘John can you turn that camera off, please?’ You whimper, slightly embarrassed at the thought of you writhing and crying on the floor being on tape forever.

‘Okay, sorry love.’

It’s clearly several hours later when Johnny picks up the camera again. He’s sitting on the couch, with no shirt on at all.

‘Im very overwhelmed right now… you’re probably going to be here within the next two hours… your mom is about nine centimetres… getting ready to go in this pool-‘

He turns the camera around to show the birthing pool in the middle of the living room.

‘I’m going to get in that, with your mom and then you’ll be in this world with us… I’m terrified, but… optimistic.’

Johnny’s mother turns on the camera next, facing you in the water.

You’re standing between Johnny’s legs, back pressed up against his chest.

‘How’re you feeling, Y/N?’ She asks, and you stare into the lens with half-lidded eyes.

‘I’m in agony,’ you say flatly, ‘it’s like I can feel him. Sitting like… here.’ You point to your pelvis, and Johnny kisses the back of your head comfortingly.

A few moments later, a huge contraction  crashes over you, causing you to practically scream

‘Oh god, I have to push-‘

The camera cuts off.

‘Oh my god…’ you gasp, staring at the wailing baby on your chest.

The camera is being held again by Johnny’s mother, just above your head.

‘Look at him John… he’s so perfect.’

’So beautiful,’ he hums, completely lost for words.

Hi, Jude…’ you cry quietly, ‘we love you so so so much…’

Still thinking about my quirkless YouTuber bkdk au... In this au they still all went to the same high school and became friends but without all the near death experiences and it's set a few years after they finished school so I thought up some ideas of what kind of YouTubers they'd be:

Izuku - Goes by Deku on his channel. Started off doing a few small videos in middle school, product reviews and short vlogs etc, he got into gaming in high school as his channel started growing. His subscribers are really loyal and love how upbeat and snarky he can be in his videos and he likes to post loads content of he and his friends doing stupid shit as well. He mainly plays long series of RPG games where he can get really into the lore of them as well as online multiplayer games with his friends and he'll also livestream a lot of the time to answer questions and just chat to his watchers! He tends to avoid horror games, he can usually only manage a little bit at a time, or gets Bakugou to play them with him which his subscribers love. As far as equipment goes he started off very basic and gradually afforded better computers/cameras thanks to his subscribers who he loves very dearly.

Bakugou - He works with his father in fashion design and as a personal trainer on the side. He and Izuku started living together not that long after high school and have been dating for just over a year though they were pretty much inseparable for most of their school years. He doesn't have his own channel but he features a lot in Izuku's videos and livestreams whether he's willing to or not. He prefers the more action orientated first person games but he'll join in on whatever multiplayer game they're all playing when he has the time. Even though he doesn't have much experience with gaming in general he's infuriatingly good at puzzle games to the point where Izuku will make him solve the difficult parts for him. Though he doesn't have his own channel, Izuku's subscribers love seeing him in Izuku's videos, especially the multiplayer games where he loses his shit a lot with everyone else and he's also the one who deals with any hate comments Izuku may get on his channel.

This got way longer than I intended so the others are below the line!

Todoroki - He was initially resigned to becoming the next CEO of his dad’s company which he had been groomed for pretty much his entire life until he met Izuku and the others in high school. After that he started trying to make his own name and ended up joining Izuku by playing games and managed to grow his channel really quickly with Izuku’s help. This boy always has the most up-to-date tech and somehow manages to get every big name game on beta or pre-release which gets him a lot of attention. He’ll play any kind of games but his favourite are relaxing immersive games like Abzu, they don’t get as much attention though so he doesn’t film that many of them, and though he mostly does silent commentary he has so many fan-made compilations of him saying the most hilarious stuff unintentionally with a dead-pan expression that it’s mainly what he’s known for now. He joins in with multiplayer games and likes to rile up Bakugou by targeting him on any that involve killing each other. He doesn’t interact with his subscribers as much as the others but he makes sure to tell them how much he appreciates them and hosts a lot of giveaways which make him pretty popular. Has the annoying ability to play horror games without being spooked.

Uraraka - This girl played one game with Izuku in high school when she went over to his and then was hooked. She’s still studying in University to get into a career in astronomy and help her parents so she doesn’t have as much time to manage a channel as the others but like Izuku, she has a lot of very loyal subscribers because of her personality. Todoroki was actually the one who helped her get a proper gaming computer (by giving it to her and saying the store had been told not to accept returns) and her subscribers also help her get access to big games which she gets very flustered and so grateful for. She likes quite violent games and often gets underestimated online when she tries to play co-op shooter games etc, but she enjoys proving them wrong. She’s quite well known for trying out independent indie games and rating them but she enjoys being online with her friends the most and plays a lot of co-op games. She’ll also post videos of all of them hanging out, she loves making highlight reels when they do something big together! She’ll interact with lots of people online as well and does Q&A’s with her family when she can which they always get embarrassed about because she likes to hype them up.

Kirishima - Like Izuku, he was already making videos in middle school. His channel is mainly vlogs/stupid prank videos (ft Kaminari) and he likes to share his workout routines as well! His channel also features a lot of Bakugou when he manages to convince him to do videos with him about exercise tips etc. He works full time as a personal trainer and motivator and he’s actually taken a few courses in basic counselling/therapy so he can do his job and help people to the best of his ability. He’s not into gaming as much as they others so will usually only join for their multiplayer sessions but he’s also tried a few popular games when his subscribers asked him to. Out of all of them, he probably pays the most attention to his subscribers- he gives out advice and chats to them on livestreams often so they’re all very loyal watchers. Kaminari, Mina, and Sero get featured on his channel a lot because they still hang out so often and some of his most popular videos are series of pranks they all play on each other that Bakugou is usually dragged into.

Momo - She is the queen of product reviews and recommendations. Seriously, she will buy something to try even if she’s not remotely interested in it because some of her subscribers asked her to and then do a giveaway competition for it. She is always being sponsored by big companies which she’ll quite happily advertise but never in a way that feels pushy which is why she’s so popular as a content creator. She manages to keep to a pretty regular upload schedule and posts a whole range of things from book recommendations to videos featuring big name celebrities which get her a lot of attention. When she first started her channel, it was just a way to document her learning progress during school and she was very nervous, but now she’s a pretty big name and is a lot more confident with public speaking etc. She’s not interested in games but she’ll occasionally feature in the others videos and loves to hype up her friends’ channels in her own videos.

Iida - He made himself a channel with the others in high school but barely ever uses it. He’ll usually post rants about the randomest topics and most of his subscribers can’t tell if he’s joking or not. While he will join the others in their multiplayer games he doesn’t know a thing about gaming and tries to apply real life logic to their situations which never works but is very funny to watch.

Kaminari - “Watch me try and fit a whole apple in my mouth!” That’s it, that’s his channel. Usually followed by “Had to go to the emergency room :/” His subscribers love him and he takes running his channel very seriously, referring to all of them as his fans and always tries to keep them up to date on everything via livestreams and tweets. He spends a lot of time making videos that feature everyone else because he loves keeping all their channels connected to each other even if they’re not in high school anymore. He couldn’t get Jirou to make her own channel to feature her music on so he’ll post a lot of their jamming sessions (he, Jirou, Bakugou, Tokoyami, and Momo will still meet up to play  songs together even though Jirou is a solo performer now) so he likes to show off all his friends talents as much as he can. In terms of gaming, he, Kirishima, Mina, and Sero are very much their own gaming team and play so many online team games together though they very enthusiastically join in with the others as well!

These are all just things I thought up pretty quickly so I might add to it later but I’d love to hear other ppl’s ideas about it !!

About the book

What is the book about?

The Pacemaker is about unlucky, amnesiac Minerva Walsh winning a full-paid scholarship to the college of elites, geniuses and scholars, Calendula University and having to learn to adapt to her new home. She soon learns it’s not all glitz and glam when she discovers this academic paradise is swarming with dark shadows and deadly secrets. One of these shadows is the curse which is responsible for claiming the several victims’ lives in unusual accidents. Not soon after learning about the curse, Minerva develops a strange ability that lets her control the fluctuations of time and space and enter a world outside reality. Minerva must use her new powers to investigate the truth behind this curse before it claims more lives.

When did you start writing the book?

January 2018.

How long did it take you to write it?

​ It took a bit over a year to finish The Pacemaker.

Where did you get the idea from?

The Pacemaker was based off a nightmare I had. I wrote most of what I could remember down, and it transformed into this.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

The dark scenes were difficult for me. I’m very sensitive to circumstances like that. So, if I write a dark, depressing scene, the character’s feelings transfer to me, and I’ll be in a heavy mood for a while.

What came easily?

The romantic and action scenes. I’m better at writing romance and action (mostly supernatural or fantasy) scenes than dark scenes because they can be emotionally draining.

All characters are fictitious.

My target reader is late teenage years about 18+. Mentality wise someone who likes supernatural or fantasy mixed with some psychological thrills, romance, some sex, and lots of drama

About Writing

Do you have a writing process? If so, can you please describe it?

​Yes. I have a process. First, I write out a general outline and figure out the titles of the chapters and how many there will be. Next, I write out the separate outlines for each chapter and make chapter checklists for writing, editing, reading, rewriting, final editing, and final reading. And finally, I start writing everything out mostly in pen and paper first. I like to have a first draft for my records, and it makes easier for me when I type it up later. I used to not have a process, and it drove me mad. It took me forever to get anything done. Whenever I organize what I need to write or make checklists of what I need to get done, it makes accomplishing those goals easier and motivates me to finish them.

Do you outline? If so, do you do so extensively or just chapter headings and a couple of sentences?

I do outline and make checklists. I figure out the overall outline of the story then the chapters’ names and finally their individual outlines. I also make checklists for writing, editing, reading, rewriting, final editing, and final reading.

Do you edit as you go or wait until you’ve finished?

I would edit after each chapter. Then I read through the entire book and do a point edit before doing a final edit, rewrite, and read.

Did you hire a professional editor?

Yes.

Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what gets the fingers tapping?

Yes. I do listen to music. The kind varies depending on the story and scene. But I normally make playlists, under the names of the books I’m working on via YouTube of the music I listened to while writing. I make them public while I’m editing and marketing the books.

About Publishing

Did you submit your work to Agents?

No, not really.  Since I’m not interested in working with a major publisher. I will hire a PR agent for my upcoming works to help me market my books from Sep 2020- on.

What made you decide to go Indie, whether self-publishing or with an indie publisher? Was it a particular event or a gradual process?

I decided to go indie because I like being in full control of the publishing and marketing process. I also like to have complete ownership of my work and not worry about it being tied to a specific publisher until my contract runs out or when I get lawyers involved to retrieve all rights from that publisher. It’s been a hard, long learning process, but I love the freedom of being my own boss.

Did you get your book cover professionally done or did you do it yourself?

I use a professional. For The Pacemaker, Panagiotis Lampridis from https://bookdesignstars.com/ made the cover.

Do you have a marketing plan for the book or are you just winging it?

I try to create a marketing plan, but it depends on my budget. For now, I’m kinda improvising.

Any advice that you would like to give to other newbies considering becoming Indie authors?

Plan everything. Not just the book you’re working on. Plan out the costs for book cover and interior design. Plan the costs for editors and publishing (if you don’t decide to use Amazon and use Ingram or something). If you use a service like Ingram, plan the name for the publishing name you want to use (because you are the publisher if you use their service and buy your own ISBN and barcode). Most newbie indie authors think you just need to write your book find a publishing company and release your book, then you’re done. (I’ve been there done that.) They don’t realize that’s the easy part. The most important part is marketing your book and getting it to potential readers to get those first reviews and sales. Planning out a thorough marketing strategy and executing it is crucial to the success of your book. Because as an indie author, unless you’re publishing with an independent publisher (not Amazon, Lulu or Ingram), you have to be the writer, editor, PR agent and so much more. You don’t have the same liberties that traditionally or indie authors published by an independent or hybrid publishers have.

I’m Jersey girl born and raised. I was born in Livingston, spent my first 12 years of my life in East Orange and then the rest in Kearny, NJ.

20 Best YouTube Channels for Your Kids

According to Family Zone, in 2016, kids 8 years of age and under spent 65% of their online time on YouTube, and kids 9 – 12 years old spent 38% of their time on YouTube, watching videos. Every single day, there are 576k hours’ worth of videos uploaded to YouTube. With the rise of YouTube, we are all increasingly able to consume media content whenever and wherever we want.

YouTube, as an open platform, allows the audience to watch videos based on their own preferences and interests, and, in the meantime, YouTube also gives content creators the freedom to be creative and make videos that specifically cater to their audience’s needs.

Among the sea of YouTube videos, not all of them are appropriate for kids to watch. However, considering the amount of time our kids spend on YouTube daily, we definitely want to take advantage of the platform and teach our children STEAM using video content. Fortunately, there are plenty of such resources online. Here, we will introduce 20 online educational video channels that are created explicitly for kids’ STEAM education.  

1. Openlab

If your kid is a coding robot enthusiast or has shown great interest in educational robots, Openlab is the place to go. Created and supported by Makeblock, Openlab is filled with demos for innovative coding-robot projects. If you own any Makeblock products, such as mBot and Codey Rocky, this is the channel you want!

2. Super Awesome Maker Show

The Super Awesome Maker Show features tutorial videos created by a young girl, Sylvia. She is passionate about making different things, from gadgets to toys. The things she makes in her videos are all very straightforward and easy to do.

3. The Backyard Scientist

The Backyard Scientist, who has 4.2 million subscribers on YouTube, conducts experiments in his backyard in Florida. Please note that his videos are very entertaining to watch, but not every one of them is worth trying at home. Parents are encouraged to provide guidance and supervision.

4. Crash Course

Crash Course is one of the most viewed STEM YouTube channels. Started in 2006, it now has 9.2 million subscribers. It offers courses in physics, philosophy, astronomy, biology, and more.

5. Crash Course Kids

Producers at Crash Course also create content for another channel, Crash Course Kids. Content wise, it focuses on promoting STEM education, too. That said, compared to the Crash Course, this channel is more friendly towards younger kids when it comes to the visual illustration and the way they explain science, such as engineering, earth science, physical science, and so on.

6. SmarterEveryDay

The host of this show, Destin Sandlin, explores a lot of fascinating science subjects using an elementary and fun vlogging style. It’s the kind of science show that your family can sit down and watch together.

7. Vsauce

This channel was created by Michael Stevens in 2010. With over 10 million subscribers on YouTube, this channel attracts audiences of all ages by exploring the mysteries of the world. As the fan base and needs grow bigger and more specific gradually, Vsauce now has three channels with three different hosts, but they all have one shared goal – science is cool and let me tell you about it.

8. The Coding Train

The host, Daniel Shiffman, teaches young students to code using YouTube videos with funny animations. His videos cover topics from the basics of programming languages like JavaScirpt (with p5.js) and Java (with Processing) to generative algorithms like data visualization.

9. Vi Hart

Vi Hart positions herself as a “mathemusician and virtual reality philosopher.” Sounds pretty complicated, right? But her videos are very witty and entertaining to watch and a great resource to help kids develop their interest in STEM.

10. ExpeRimental

The Royal Institution of Great Britain opened this channel on YouTube and dedicated it to promoting STEM education and activities. The ExpeRimental is a series of short films that will make it fun, easy, and cheap to do science at home with your kids.

11. HooplaKidzLab

Though branded as a lab for kids, HooplaKidzLab’s content is for audiences of all ages who are curious about science and would like to get their hands dirty with fun science experiments. The majority of the experiments are created as tutorial videos. You can easily follow them step by step and do science at home.

12. MinutePhysics

“Simply put: cool physics and other sweet science” is how Henry Reich introduces his YouTube channel, MinutePhysics. Henry’s videos usually last 2-3 minutes and explain some of the most sophisticated science topics to his audience.

13. patrickJMT

The host Patrick Jones created this channel to tutor kid’s math virtually. His extensive collection of tutorial videos is all for free. And don’t question his qualifications just because he is on online tutor. Hold your conclusion till you watched his videos.

14. NASA eClips

It’s never too early to fall in love with NASA! On this channel, you will find plenty of short, relevant educational video segments, designed for a wide variety of STEM learners. There is no doubt that if you want to learn, you learn from the best!

15. Amoeba Sisters

Behind the pink and purple amoebas are two sisters, Brianna and Sarina, who use animated videos to demystify science. Be sure to check them out if you are looking for some easy-to-understand animated educational videos for your kids to watch.

16. STEM coding

According to the channel, it is the YouTube home for the STEMcoding project (http://u.osu.edu/stemcoding), which is an effort to infuse coding into high school physics, chemistry, and math. It does require a certain amount of coding knowledge to understand the video content.

17. Code.org

This channel is dedicated to promoting computer programming by providing free coding educational videos. It doesn’t matter if you have any coding background or experience, you will always find a course here that’s suitable for you to start with!

18. Make:

Into STEAM? Into making things? Looking for a cool project to work on with your kids and their friends? Then you shouldn’t miss this channel! The mission of this channel is to bring the do-it-yourself mindset to all the technology in your life.

19. Flocabulary

Wouldn’t it be cool if STEAM related concepts can be taught through hip hop music and animation? If this sounds awesome to you, you should check out Flocabulary. According to the channel, teachers at 20,000 schools use Flocabulary’s standards-based videos, instructional activities, and student creativity tools to supplement instruction and develop core literacy skills.

20. Make Anything

Another great channel for makers, but this time it’s all about 3D printing! Devin Montes, the host of this channel is a 3D printing enthusiast. Each video that he uploaded to the channel documented his experience working on 3D design project. While sharing his very first-hand experience, he also is trying to provide educational content and “inspire viewers to exercise with their creativity.”

Just like the internet itself, YouTube and other online video platforms can be of significant help for kids and adults in their study of STEAM-related subjects. The quality of the educational videos depends on how the creators to contribute their time, experience, and knowledge to creating informative content and uploading it on these platforms.

In addition, as parents, it’s crucial to provide proper moderation and responsible supervision in order to make the most of these resources. "Automate" your Organic Growth on Instagram

     At long last, we finally found it. A way to post to Instagram, from your computer! 

     This web based client allows you to Schedule your Posts, Months in advance, Update your IG Stories with those Highly edited images or Daily Vlog clips, and best of all, you can use it for Multiple accounts! (That does depend on the Plan Level you Buy) But the excitement still stands. I'm currently using it to Update my @TheTherapyGamer account on instagram, and woah... I can not express my excitement enough. At the time of writing this Post, I just finished editing over 71,000 images from the last year worth of Travel Destinations. I know, I know. Slacking ultra hard here. But I was finally able to sit down and feel i was able to focus on simply editing. The whole "writers block thing" is a problem for Creatives in all walks of life. Finally having a tool that I can use away from my phone to post to my favorite Social Platform is awesome.

     This Software also allows you to Auto Follow/Unfollow specific Tags, people, and other stuff as well. I've not used this set of features yet, but I suppose it would allow for some pretty intense page growth.

     Using these tools together should help "Automate" your Organic Growth on Instagram quite nicely.

The Cost Varies on the plan, but each allow varying levels of additional accounts, storage for images and video uploads, and so on. I happened to get lucky and found a beta promotion that gave me an account i can post to 10 different insta accounts with for $45(USA). I'm sure these have fluctuated since then though.

Numbers!

This is where I show you what its done for me.  I started using Just the Scheduling feature 2 months ago as of writing this post. In that time frame, setting just 2 images to post at specific times each day, I have increased my Interactions on my page from less then 125 per week, to as of June 6th 2018, 3,022. Increasing from 15-30 interactions (Likes and such) to 506-604 per day through out the week. This also increases the Discovery of my account as well quite drastically from less then 10 new accounts seeing mine each day, to over 425 per day. And each of these numbers are gradually increase each week! But obviously the only numbers that really matter, is the Follower Count. increasing from a stifling 556 Followers to Currently 2602 Followers today. 

Now, With all of that said, most people just don't grow crazy over night. You Need Consistency, along side actually good content, and Communication with your audience. Yes, this software basically Automates your Posting, Following, Unfollowing, Story Posting, and even Auto-filling your Descriptions each image. But YOU personally need to create the content, and initially type out the Descriptions. So Make them Phenomenal. Use the applicable tags only in your images. Mage sure you are using Clear High Resolution uploads in your posts. At the end of the day, these kind of tools are meant to help ease the rigorous task of posting consistently each day. when you are as busy as I am, its difficult to juggle 3 jobs, Photography Gigs, Weekly YouTube Uploads, Typing up a blog post, and then trying to remember if I've posted to ALL of my various accounts on the internet that needed it that given day.

     The way I calculated it, This software has saved me DAYS of time. An average post via your phone to Instagram, if its already edited, 2-5 minutes to add all the correct tags, @ the right people and locations, tagging the right location, and dropping a product link into it if needed. Over the course of a month, this adds up ALOT if you are posting 2+ images per day! Being able to very quickly, upload the images to the software online, then (if you have the auto fills in already) 2 click the description you want on the image, then add your location, and BOOM! Done.

 I will be sure to Update this post again every so often as i see bigger numbers as well.

hiros bot is none other than a battle bot, with sharp scissors for hands and rollers for feet, and this infuriates the older hamada to no end

tadashi builds a tiny cute companion that stores small things from a first aid kit, like plasters, bandages, medicine etc (those weren’t in the pile they began with, he totally cheated) 

hiros robot spirals out of control and proceeds to break tadashi’s, and then spinning in circles so fast no one can catch it. Hilarity continues from there as hiro desperately attempts to stop his malfunctioning robot from shredding his bedsheets

One he wasn’t planning on making. It was all for this wildly popular group of vloggers, and his close connections to them all. He didn’t expect his “big break” to be all because of a crashed vlog and a close shave. Partnered with @sirensantics!! My Comments: Fluffy modern AU in which the paladins all room together and constantly end up in each other’s YouTube videos. Sweet friendship and childish humor all over the place.

The World Is Wide Enough by thegalrahobbitofplantetgalilfrey Words: 1,633 Author’s Summary: So, basically, I wanted a “paladins grow up together and are buddies for life” AU without A.) Shiro as Keith’s adopted dad/brother, and B.) That didn’t end in Klance. Starts when they’re small and then progresses, because guess what it’s time for another series! Just when you thought I was done. My Comments: Just a cute fun, fic with all of the paladins meeting as children and having fun together. A nice spot of uncomplicated fluff.

Winging It by Engineer104 Words: 2,187 Author’s Summary: Recipe for fun: 1 notebook 5 Paladins 1 Princess 1 Advisor 7 paper airplanes Or, what happens when several Earth teenagers are lightyears away from home and have an entire notebook and a free day My Comments: Adorable bonding fic in which the team makes paper airplanes and races them. It’s a simple concept, but very fun to read, and I liked the focus on Coran.

Something Small and Precious by Karee_the_wise Words: 30,435 Author’s Summary: Tensions were already building within the team; with the revelation of Keith’s Galra heritage, Allura’s entrenched prejudices, and Lance’s supposed “rivalry” with Keith. But following their latest mission, they’ll all have to face their problems head on. Because now they have a Galra toddler on their hands. So, Team Voltron needs to make a decision as they move forward with their Grand Plan to defeat Zarkon once and for all: will this latest challenge be what bonds them or what tears them apart? My Comments: Team Voltron dealing with a kid is always a treat, and this is an interesting take on that concept, with some rewriting of canon that doesn’t come off as a total retread. Mild Klance at the end.

Spectrum by Engineer104 Words: 9,562 Author’s Summary: When Allura set out from her devastated homeland to search for the Dragon Reborn, she did not expect to also find three young Paladins and a missing war veteran in an Arusian backwater, anymore than she expected the Galra attack right after. My Comments: Very fun fantasy AU based on the Wheel of Time series, though you don’t have to read that to understand what’s going on. I loved all of the characterization and I’m very intrigued by the set-up. Though the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, it’s enjoyable as is.

Alone Together by Ninja_Librarian Words: 8,936 Author’s Summary: Day 8: Free DayFive times the scar on Shiro’s face messed with his health and made his friends worry. And the one time he gave in to doing something about it, and his friends freaked out… My Comments: Aww, this is SO sweet. Everyone just cares so much about Shiro, even worrying that they might have pushed him too much by insisting he get treated by something that is, yes, a serious medical condition. The last scene was the cutest way possible to end it, too.

Rats, Cats, and Nosy Neighbors by hufflepirate Words: 17,937 Author’s Summary: Animal-loving college student Keith Kogane has a one-bedroom apartment, a job as a bike messenger, and 6 quirky neighbors with boundary issues. In the months following the loss of his beloved cat, a series of run-ins with other animals helps him heal - and so do his friends in the apartment building. When another cat comes along, will he be ready to move on? My Comments: Holy crow, everthing this author writes is SO good. I love Keith’s slow progression through the grieving process, how he gradually becomes closer with his friends despite their irritating ways, and all the animals they meet and help along the way. Extremely satisfying fic with perfect pacing and characterization and adorable scenes. Everything is wonderful.

Beach Day by Bandity Words: 3,885 Author’s Summary: The Paladins finally get a break. Lance always finds trouble though… My Comments: Gosh, poor Lance. It sucks that he gets hurt on vacation. His protectiveness of Pidge is lovely though, and her struggle to get him back to the group and to medical care was wrenching. And afterward, he still says he likes the beach, aww.

The Kids Are Alright by Pugglemuggle Words: 10,427 Author’s Summary: Her brother is missing. Lance’s sister isn’t about to sit quietly while the Garrison keeps lying to the press. No—she’s going to get to the bottom of this. (Or: The paladins’ families team up to find their kids and overthrow the corrupt Garrison regime. Told through news articles, prose, the internet, and art.) My Comments: Well-written and realistic exploration of the paladins’ families struggling in the aftermath of their disappearance. Everything came together in a very satisfying way at the end of the fic.

When the Wolfbane Blooms by a_fearsome_thing Words: 20,055 Author’s Summary: Shiro never makes it back to Earth, instead crash-landing on a planet filled with what seem to be giant wolves. Injured and without a ship, he needs to find a way home to warn the Earth that the Galra are coming. (the one where Shiro gets adopted by a wolf pack in space) My Comments: Despite the fraught circumstances, it was pleasant and relaxing to see Shiro join a family of wolf shapeshifters before meeting up with Voltron. He got some much-needed recovery time after escaping the Galra, and the worldbuilding for the alien race was interesting.

In the Hands of Hatred by Haleykim84 (tristen84) Words: 22,917 Author’s Summary: After saving an alien race from the Galra, Team Voltron sets down on the planet for repairs. They are welcomed with open arms – until the aliens find out that Keith is Galra. My Comments: This is an intense and suspenseful fic, with the other paladins racing against time to rescue Keith while a violent faction prepares to execute him for the accident of his blood. The ending recovery period was very well-written, too.

Every Waking Hour by Cocopops1995 Words: 1,002 Author’s Summary: Lance has been dosed by a drug that doesn’t allow him to sleep. It’s left him absolutely wrung out, confused and sore all over. My Comments: Great exploration of Keith and Shiro’s relationship after Shiro accidentally harms Keith during a flashback. They are both very persistent, and very protective of each other, so sometimes they work at cross purposes. I’m glad they found a solution in the end.

Tail that Wags the Hound by BossToaster (ChaoticReactions) Words: 5,436 Author’s Summary: Shiro adjusts. Comments: Sequel to a previously recced fic, and I am so very pleased to see more. Post Season Three, Shiro has returned to the Castle of Lions and unexpectedly discovered a new twin brother, Ryou, in the body of his unasked-for clone. There’s a lot of adjusting to be done, but I love the new relationship these unexpected twins are forming with each other. They can challenge and encourage each other in equal measure, and they don’t have to hold back. Not a bit.

Fish Out of Water by isabeau25 Words: 5,380 Author’s Summary: Keith is going to get Shiro back, and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him. (I bumped the rating a little because Shiro is little, and Honerva wasn’t gentle with him, but nothing is described, and nothing will be.) My Comments: Sequel to a previously recced fic, but stands alone, and I am so utterly DELIGHTED to see more of this! Merbaby Shiro is rescued and safe, but big brother Keith doesn’t know that, and he travels into the surface only to run smack dab into Pidge. My favorite parts were Lance and Hunk in the background spoiling merbaby Shiro absolutely rotten. (Lance calls him CUDDLE FISH, can you believe this cuteness.)

Where did the Party Go? by Ninja_Librarian Words: 1,530 Author’s Summary: Fun fact: Alteans can’t get food poisoning. Not-so-fun-fact: Humans can, even in space… My Comments: Ack, poor kids! Good thing Allura and Coran are able to take care of them, though it ends up being a pretty exhausting trip for everyone.

Day 6: Poison by GemmaRose Words: 1,486 Author’s Summary: They really should learn to listen to Hunk. My Comments: And now for a lighthearted romp through food poisoning! No, really, this fic is remarkably humorous, though Keith and Pidge really should learn to listen to Hunk’s gut, especially when it’s about food.

Foolish Fragile Spine by ardett Words: 1,600 Author’s Summary: During a day at the beach, Lance finds himself trapped beneath the sand. My Comments: Aww, my poor boy. He was just trying to relax and found himself fighting for his life instead. I’m proud of him for fighting through.

Don’t Rush by Agapostemon Words: 1,472 Author’s Summary: It’s almost dusk when the Holt Family Van pulls into the McDonald’s parking lot where Keith is waiting with his bike. Shiro comes stumbling out the second the automated door slides open, despite Colleen’s suggestion for him to stay put. His right arm (which now ends just above the wrist, Keith notes with a sinking feeling) is in a sling, and his face is bandaged to hell and back, but… he’s walking and breathing and here. He’s here! He’s alive! My Comments: Ahhh, poor kids. Everyone is going through a rough time, but at least Shiro and Keith are reunited.

Hope Doesn’t Grow Overnight by HotAndColdAF Words: 6,194 Author’s Summary: Shiro’s year with the Galra, as told from Ulaz’s perspective. Not really shippy, but I wrote it as a person who does ship it so. Read it as you will. My Comments: Tagged as possible romance but reads entirely platonic to me. This is a rough read, as fics about Shiro’s missing year usually are, but Ulaz’s perspective is a fresh take, and it’s interesting to watch him slowly move from trying to keep logical and disinterested to eventually going all out to help Shiro escape.

Miss Missing You by Ninja_Librarian Words: 3,174 Author’s Summary: When Lance is sniping in battle, he always has his friends’ backs. But who has his? My Comments: The damage to Lance is pretty brutal here, but there’s some really great comforting afterward. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Day 7: Head Injury by GemmaRose Words: 1,558 Author’s Summary: There’s a reason you’re supposed to wear your seatbelt. My Comments: Shiro bangs his head in battle and kind of loses the plot for a few minutes. Fortunately everything turns out okay, but definitely scary to read.

Pidge Versus Aliens by Diremop Words: 2,917 Author’s Summary: Now, though, she was sitting with her laptop at a kitchen table and watching an alien eat breakfast. An alien that looked straight out of Star Trek. “Allura,” she said, leaning forward over the table and trying to get a better view of Allura’s ear, “why do you look like us?” My Comments: Fun and funny fic with some worldbuilding and action and Pidge being awesomely smart and curious.

Change and Holding On by ozbian Words: 3,255 Author’s Summary: The paladins and Coran undergo a potentially dangerous bonding rite to secure an alliance. My Comments: Such fun worldbuilding and action. Great bonding fic for the entire team, and the alien race was fascinating and adorable.

Cold in My Bones by Cocopops1995 for Rangergirl3 Words: 2,076 Author’s Summary: Keith wakes up cold and alone, and finds that he’s been reduced to nothing more than an interesting specimen in a couple of wealthy aliens’ collection. My Comments: Absolutely horrific scenario, but the team comes through at the end.

The Noise That Echoes by Cocopops1995 for Rangergirl3, Haleykim84 (tristen84) Words: 1,595 Author’s Summary: Shiro comforts Keith, who is extremely sound sensitive and recovering from days of torture by the Galra My Comments: Short and sweet and focused on the comfort, which is how I like it. (If it it can’t be long and drawn-out and focused on the comfort, of course.)
