Professor Sebastian Sallow & his husband, Damien Evans, from the Like Moths to a Flame Series
I commissioned the fabulous @vienguinn for a scene from a (not yet published) chapter of "You Cannot Put a Fire Out," the third long-fic in my Like Moths to a Flame series. And, of course, she more than delivered! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing Sebastian and Damien to life. They're perfect! Searching for an artist to commission? Reach out to Vienguinn! She's such a bright light and an absolute joy to interact with <3
If you're itching for a series from Sebastian's POV that covers the events of the game (Book One: Like Moths to a Flame), the summer after (Book Two: Burning Bright), and extends all the way to his early forties (Book Three: You Cannot Put a Fire Out), check out my series! (Note: You can start anywhere as I always recap the full series in the first few chapters of each long-fic.)
M/M, friends to lovers, lots of banter, hurt/comfort, a deeper exploration of ancient magic and dark magic, reluctant necromancer Sebastian Sallow (the poor boy can't catch a break), a mysterious "Stranger" (+ reveal), the Ministry of Magic, Gaunt Manor, Muggle London, Greek mythology, Potions Master Sebastian Sallow, Sebastian's married life, and more!
Read the full series on Wattpad (where it's nearing 36,000 total reads) or, since August 2023, AO3 (yes, I dropped the first story all at once...oops, LMAO). With reader-submitted fan art, author-curated playlists, and commissioned art!
Excerpt (after the cut) from Book One: Like Moths to a Flame:
"There must be something I can do to make it up to you," Sebastian said.
Damien rose up from the floor. "You could kiss me," he blurted out.
Sebastian straightened up in alarm, his mouth dropping open in disbelief. "Kiss you?"
"Mhm."
"You're joking, right?" Sebastian's voice wavered slightly.
"No, I'm serious."
"Oh." Before he could talk himself out of it, Sebastian lunged forward, grabbing Damien's head - not exactly gently - and their lips collided. Sebastian's heart skipped a beat at the sensation of Damien's mouth under his. The kiss was hungry, desperate even.
Sebastian's fingers tangled in Damien's hair, pulling him closer as their bodies pressed together. The feeling of Damien's warmth against him was intoxicating. Damien smelled like fresh, uncut grass and the delicate aroma emanating from the pages of an old book. But there was something else lurking beneath the surface, a hint of excitement and the thrill of the unknown, as if he carried the essence of adventure itself in his very being.
As the kiss finally broke, Sebastian's eyes fluttered open to find Damien's golden-brown eyes staring back at him, a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Thanks for that," Damien said with a grin.
Sebastian smiled back at him, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "Anytime," he replied. "In fact, I think I've been wanting to do that for a while."

I have some thoughts (headcanons) about SilkWing names
Most of the following writing is from a Google Doc I'm working on that contains a list of possible names for dragons from every WoF tribe. As I was adding to the SilkWing list, I started to come up with ways to distinguish SilkWing names from RainWing, SandWing and LeafWing names, and here's what I came up with.
After the Tree Wars, when the HiveWing and SilkWing societies merged, SilkWings were given names relating almost entirely to their appearance. They were named after colours, moths, worms/grubs (relating to the "worm" insult; these would occur most in, say, orphaned Silks who were named by HiveWings), and flowers. This is (in my headcanons/AU) because HiveWings usually value SilkWings more for their beauty rather than their skills or personalities. A lot of SilkWings picked up on that, choosing to name their dragonets accordingly.
After the SilkWings regained independence (i.e. after the end of TFoH) I imagine that the SilkWings would choose to name their dragonets in ways that reflect their personalities rather than their appearance. Names describing demeanours, attributes and virtues are becoming popular. I think spider names might have integrated into the names a bit, too; spiders are dangerous, and they also spin silk, so choosing spider names would make sense and could be a way for them to reject the 'pretty, docile SilkWing' image that HiveWings perpetuated for so long.
TL;DR: SilkWings are usually named after butterflies, colours, and other appearance-based stuff, because HiveWings only value SilkWings because they're pretty. Now that the Hives and Silks are separated, the SilkWings are giving themselves and their kids more meaningful names. And naming their kids after spiders because SilkWings are allowed to be mean! And this is all headcanons. None of this is fully supported by the canon, although it is based on it

Samama is looking into the Magnus protocol :pogchamp:
I mean, I’d be curious too having heard about the Magnus Institute then seeing a reference to a protocol.
Gwen being “trapped here forever,” I wonder if that’s literal or just a reference to Elias. 😂 Also would she be Elias & boat captain guy’s kid?? Asking the real questions.
Also, is Augustus’s voice a character from The Magnus Archives proper or a new voice actor/character?? Okay, new voice apparently!
Last Fortnite? /j
Okay so the violin is definitely paranormal or has paranormal origins.
Also the name Oliver strikes me as very familiar but idk why. 🤔
FAR AWAY MUSIC? ITS THE WAR MUSIC THINGY?? MAYBE THE HUNTING ONE?
“Unseen maestro of his own imagination.” Oh yeah no the music man is back in some form or it’s a new thing.
BRO JUST LEPT FOR IT??? Holy fuck. Wait did this thing take hold of his tutor, then the carriage guy??
A FLAME FIGURE??? THE FIRE LADY ENTITY??
This instrument is hot! 🔥
I wonder if the musical notes will burn the audience or something. 👀 Oh shit it’s musical talent for blood! ⚰️ Vampire ass instrument. Deal with the devil type shit.
Oh shit... he fed other people to his violin. I wonder if it ate him in the middle of the night because it got hungry & he hadn’t fed it.
HOOOOOOLY SHIT CANNIBALISM SONG!
“Feed my violin nephew.”
“I could disappear again, they would never know!” WHO & WHY??

Art Commission by @myokk + a Sneak Peek of Next Week's Chapter of "You Cannot Put a Fire Out" on AO3 and Wattpad
A massive thank you to the amazingly talented @myokk for the beautiful artwork of a scene from next week's chapter of "You Cannot Put a Fire Out," the third long-fic in my "Like Moths to a Flame" series. This perfectly captures how I envision the scene in my head; it's uncanny (in the best way)!
⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Sebastian and Damien are visiting Cornwall, where Sebastian and Anne spent their formative years. They've been bickering, as old married couples are often wont to do. Sebastian is doing his utmost best to hold it together, and perhaps even manage to kiss and make up with his dashing husband. But sometimes, even the best-laid plans can go awry...
Sneak peek excerpt (+ more after the cut):
"Enjoying yourself?" Damien murmured softly into Sebastian's ear as he guided him into a secluded alley, away from prying Muggle eyes. Though the music had dulled to a distant hum, its rhythm still pulsed faintly in the air.
Sebastian offered a noncommittal nod, reluctant to cast a shadow over the moment. With Damien's arms wrapped around him, they swayed in sync with the lingering melody. Perhaps sensing Sebastian's reticence, Damien came to a sudden halt.
“What’s troubling you?” Damien asked.
Damn.
“It’s nothing.”
"Bash." Damien didn’t break contact, but he leaned back slightly to meet Sebastian's gaze. "I thought we agreed to be honest with each other."
Sebastian heaved a sigh. "It wasn't exactly thrilling to see you dancing with those women."
"Sebastian, I have no interest in women. You're aware of this fact. And I'm married to you."
"I know," Sebastian said darkly.
Understanding flickered across Damien's features. "This is about Jack, isn't it?"
Sebastian nearly said no, but he surmised that Damien would see through the lie, so he clamped his mouth shut instead, remaining stubbornly silent.
"It is!" Damien let go of Sebastian and stepped away. "I suspected as much. Your tasteless joke the other week—it wasn't just a joke, was it? You honestly believe I've been unfaithful."
“I’m not sure what to think.” He crossed his arms across his chest.
"I've never been intimate with a woman, Sebastian. How can I possibly convince you otherwise?"
Sebastian let out a breath. "I truly don't know."

'blah blah moths are boring cuz they're all brown blahblah blah'
'no they're not! some moths are ✨colourful✨'
Oh. Oh you sweet summer children. What of texture, what of shape, what of pattern, what of refined elegance what of the beauty of things that existed before the tiny speck of dirt in the fingernail of existence that we humans are... that carry on with the tasks of their kin while you sleep in a city built on hubris that will topple because of the thoughtless destruction of all that benefits us... what of that??
