What made you ship it?

I'm taking u to a journey back to the 2012 and I just... I'm amazed how vividly I remember this

so it's 2012 and I just watched The Lorax, being enamoured by Once-ler and the fandom. scouring through the internet I saw many ships but once I saw Normaler I thought to myself "yeah....no, nope" and went abt my day. but damn didn't they just grab me, I couldn't stop thinking abt them. I remember laying in my bed and thinking "maybe it's actually a good idea?" but I still wasn't sure. and then I saw THIS fanart and I was like damn. u got me, they're in love, I was a fool not to believe it

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

I'm so happy that there's a Normaler Resurgence cause Ill be damneD they're forever to me. I've loved them for so long and I will loved them even longer

god just the,,, absolute beautiful love story there could be. of Once-ler who thinks he shouldn't be loved, that the love has to be earned every time but who yearns for it so much. and for Norma who is content with the life she has but yearns for sth different, sth more and who never realized that someone like Once-ler could steal her heart like this

but they do, they fall in love slowly and steadily, starting as the closest friends and then realizing that their love is just beyond any words they ever needed. I think what I truly love abt Normaler is how Norma is for me a grounded yet spunky person, while Once-ler is a dreamer, yet careful with his actions

u see what I mean, they better each other. with Norma giving Once-ler the home and love he needs, along with the appreciation and steadiness. while Once-ler wants to make Norma's dreams soar away and wants to make her as happy as she can be. they simply become each other's home, the culprit of a tomorrow they never knew they needed. honestly I believe they both never knew they needed each other but when love found the it was the most beautiful duet

and then the delicious angst of them during the Greed-ler years just DAMN that's good. I love the angst and I love the drama. whether they'd be engaged or married at that time, I eat that shit up so hard. they both knew how to hurt each other way too well. Norma knew she couldn't stay with a man like this, one who becomes so selfish. he's not the starryeyed man she fell for

but then the wonderful reunion after the years. when they are older, wiser and Norma is ready to forgive Once-ler. the years might have passed but their love have never withered. and it's not that the only happiness they could have was in their youth, as their happy ending was when they were both old <3

also can I just say THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE!!!! the sun/moon symbolism. the fact how close to canon they are. the fact that they can have a daughter and grandson in canon. I'm a goner, I swear

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Norma is her own person and deserves her story too! and again, don't make them that toxic, they had disagreements but I believe they never abused one another. also anyone who thinks Normaler is too "vanilla" or that it's just a culprit for fangirls to project onto just......literally think to urself, why is any of this a bad thing

I saw the ending when I turned the page, I threw my money and I ran away I saw the scoreboard and ran for my life.

Kissing cars and downtown bars is truly all I needed. (In fact, the first two verses were unnecessary filler until this point in the song--don't tell Taylor I said that though, I'm sure she is already aware.)

Currently reading: i listen to a lot audiobooks and recently finished a study in scarlet women by sherry thomas, narrated by kate reading. it's the first book in the gender-swapped the lady sherlock series, and the narrator is *wonderful*. i was super excited to hear from my library tonight that anxious people by fredrik backman is ready for me to pick up.

Currently watching: poker face with natasha lyonne is my current must-watch show. it's a murder-of-the-week, old-school kind of series with weekly episodes so perfect low pressure watching, and natasha remains the queen. i've also been re-watching the fall (the gillian anderson feels are stronger than ever) and luther (falling more for idris elba and ruth wilson with each passing episode), even though both shows scare me!

Currently consuming: foodwise, a piece of dark chocolate bark with sea salt, cashews and dried blueberries. media-wise, repeat watches of pedro pascal on saturday night live. i feel like i haven't laughed this much in months??

Currently craving: motivation! the mental state so far this month has been ho hum. i need to break the cycle, and yet! also desperately craving sunshine and warmth. i'm going away for a couple of weeks soon and cannot wait for sun on my face, salty ocean air and sandy toes.

oooh what are your Normaler headcanons

anon, I mean this in the nicest way possible but,, u gotta be a little more specific 😅 I have soooo so many headcanons. most of them I share via my fics! if u wanna hear some abt a specific topic/time/anything else I will gladly give them to u! here are some of my general ones I remembered for a good start:

they remind me of sunny golden spring afternoons when the weather is just right to spend time outside. I imagine them going around the Valley in the early summer sun, holding hands, picking Truffula fruit, being happy and in love. Norma's draw and long curls sway on the wind, while Once-ler with one hand holds hers and with other he hangs onto his hat

their most "usual" date is having a picnic in the Valley! Once-ler brings the snacks and Norma brings all the equipment. Once shares his songs and Norma plays with animals

they love to spend time simply talking with each other. Once tells stories of success and hope, while Norma shares stories of her everyday life

actually, that's the point, they're opposites, perfectly working together. Once-ler is a dreamer, head in the clouds, wishing of the brightest future. Norma is down to Earth, collected but with that wild spark within her. he values dreams, she values stability. that's what enamoured them abt each other - with Once, Norma gets away from her everyday life so that silly lanky guy would make her fantasies come true. with Norma, Once steadies down, becomes more perceptive and values the little things in life more

Norma is an extravert and Once-ler is an introvert. sometimes, when Once feels too drained, Norma simply holds him down, not expecting he'd say anything to her. and Once loves being wrapped around her, face buried in her curls. yes, he's a chatterbox but sometimes Norma's presence and the sound of her breathing means everything to him.

Once picked up reading bc of Norma (he likes romances, fantasy novels and memoirs), while Norma branched out with her music more bc of Once (before she liked solely heavy music like SOAD or Death Grips but now she listens to variety of things Once recommends like classic rock, jazz and even some classical!)

sometimes Norma talks all the way, venting her day out. Once never stops her, in fact, he loves listening to her talk, no matter the topic and supports her however he can

Norma is great at games of all kinds! she's just very slow at getting her point. Once often gets impatient ESP since no matter what, she always wins. their Mario Kart nights are the worst

when Once-ler found out Norma loves gardening, he started buying her various flowers to the point she had to say "listen, I love these but u're flooding my apartment"

Once is a total lightweight so whenever they go out partying it mostly ends with Norma draggings those overgrown limbs home

if life ended up differently, they would love to have more than 1 child

I don't thin they ever considered each other a "fling". in my hc Once-ler is demisexual so it took him time to realize his feelings and Yeah, he knew she was Important. so did Norma actually, she started liking Once so much, she knew no matter what, she simply wanted him in her life

if I had to describe them in 1 song it'd be either A Dustland Fairytale by The Killers or their cover of Romeo and Juliet or Whistle For The Choir by The Fratellis (the line "so if u're crazy, I don't care u amaze me" is SO them)

the killers day and age -- my favourite killers album i'm sorry it is SO good. goodnight travel well continues to be the best killers song and also if a dustland fairytale wasn't the perfect song WHY did bruce springsteen cover it. joy ride is So fun

miley cyrus breakout -- flawless album. fly on the wall song of the century. my year 5 class got so insane about global warming because of this song that the headteacher did an assembly on the real facts about global warming because we were telling people acid rain was going to melt the school down if the radiators got turned on.

lady gaga joanne -- doesn't get the respect it deserves. not a good gaga album but a good album. does that make sense? like i don't listen to this if i want to listen to lady gaga but i probably listen to it more than i listen to any other album

Arcane Illusions - Dustland Fairytale Castle

BEHOLD, my biggest creation ever! This one made me cry, made me pull my hair out and have several mental break downs in one hour. It could’ve been bigger, more grand, but honestly, I’m happy and proud. I’ve always imagined a castle while listening to A Dustland Fairytale by The Killers, so at some point it had to be done. I hope this castle will bring some magic into your game!
