EEEEEEE so I've been in a writing mood as of late and I needed some help for a writing prompt. One of my best Tumblr friends(@let-love-run-red go check her out!!! She writes amazing garcello fics and headcanons and is a big inspiration for me!!)helped me out! This'll be a lil angsty sorry not sorry lol

•Nothing to lose•

(Trigger warnings!:Mentions of abuse,death,homelessness, multiple past abusive relationships,and bad cigarette habbits!)

You burst out laughing for what seemed to be the 10th time day as your buddy Garcello told yet another joke. "Seriously tho cello! That one was terrible! " He shot you a wink "heh your smiling though." You tried to wipe the smirk off your face. Unsuccessfully. "Am not" you playfully swatted his arm. He just shrugs "Whatever helps you sleep at night kid."

You roll your eyes, "Hey I'm not the one wearing a long sleeved coat and Jeans in the middle of summer" You sent a playful glare. "Your absolutely nuts!" He returns your glare. "Hey at least I'm not the one who's only clothes are T-shirts,shorts and Hoodies! All you ever wear are T-shirts and shorts. Your the crazy one. I don't see how you don't ever get cold"

You smile softy as you see the way he talks with his hands moving everywhere while he rants. I mean.. you do too its just nice to see someone else not pick on you for that. Its... nice to have someone who doesn't judge you for who you are whatsoever. It's been hard,taking care of three siblings all by yourself. Most would shy aways and call you crazy weird,disgusting,freak you've heard it all. Garcello...

Garcello was different.

"Y/n?"

You snap your head up effectively cutting off your somewhat depressing thoughts. "Hm?" You look over. "Are you alright? Ya kinda zoned out on me. I mean I know I can be boring at times but I didn't know I was a snooze fest" Besides his joking banter he has a face full of worry, Beautiful golden eyes scanning your face as if searching for the answer to a murder mystery.

"Nahh your not that boring. Promise. And..yeah I'm fine. Just kinda spaced out y'know?" He nods his head in agreement. You both slow to a stop. He chuckles a bit and turns to you. "Yeah yeah I know, it's just... I recognize that look, Y/N. Believe me I do.. im sorry to be a buzz kill but.. you know you can talk to me. About anything right?" You give that soft and kind smile that melts his heart every rare occasion he gets to see it. You never smile enough..

Sure there's the joking but... genuine smiles,ones that don't cover a dark and rough interior. He knows first hand what that feels like. So.. he tries. He's tries all he can to get you to smile that genuine smile as often as can be. For both your sakes.

"I know garcy. And thank you. Glad to know it still stands." You give him a quick hug that immediately makes his cheeks warm. He's really thankful for the shade his cap gives his face right about now. "I'll see you later alright? And tell Annie I said hey!" "Alrighty will do! And get some rest tonight okay? Cya." You nod a okay and walk inside your apartment.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You stare holes into the ceiling. Past memories flash through your mind. Your mother, and father. You were disgusted to call them that. Helping and raising your siblings. Her...death.. being homeless..heh something both you and garcello share in common. Picking up your smoking habbit.. heh another thing. Meeting him.. These past few months.

Its been hard...but its been good. You have a roof over your head. Your four siblings are okay. You haven't seen your older brother in a while but he gave you a call. You have food, water,and.. Garcello and Annie. A smile works its was on your face.

I'm glad I met him' a soft smile works its way onto your face until you realize you thought just garcello and not both him and his sister. YES you love them both- like a family-its not like that- ugh why does thoughts have to be complicated!! You roll over,you have to get to sleep. Garcello told you to! And he said he wanted to meet up for something again. You slowly drift off.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Garcello was antsy the whole walk to the park;the place you two agreed to meet. His face was a mad red. He had your favorite flowers and your favorite candy! Reeces pieces and snickers. He's never done anything like this before. Confessing he means. Sure he's asked a few chick's out but... Nobody important or someone he cares about, nobody like you. You changed his entire life in just the few months he's knew you.. He hopes you'll say yes. then again.. his hopes are all the way up.. who'd wanna date guy like him?

You look up from your phone to see garcello approaching you. He's very...stressed? No... anxious? Yes Anxious for lack of a better work. With his hands behind his back...Hmmm....

"Hey cello, whatcha got there? You got murder on your mind?" You give a teasing smirk. He just immediately freezes. "I-um-uhm. No. I uh got ya somethin' if that's alright?" He very stiffly sits in front of you. He's sweating bullets. Geeze what's got him this worked up.. "Dang cello with how your acting Ida thought you were askin' me out" you give a light chuckle. He freezes completely.

"Heh uh yeah heh...um..here..you go.. I bought these. For you.. Noone else. Heh" He awkwardly places a two boxes of your favorite candy and holds out a large boutique of your favorite flowers. You freeze completely, mouth hanging open in shock."Y/N...I've liked you for a while now.. your so nice and thoughtful...and you understand me. I was maybe hoping you'd go on a date? With me?" His face is cherry red.

What. He can't be serious? Really he can't. Nobody would ever like you that. Yes you love him.. but you can't afford to love him. Caring gets you hurt. And being vulnerable gets you killed mentally as well as physically You've long sense learned this from your past three relationships

"Are you serious?..Garcello... I cant.. I can't accept this.."

Your heart sinks as you watch the hope glittering off his eyes dim

"Of course I am! Y/N I love you..." Your both standing up at this point. Your both shaking.

"And garcello... I know-i know but please-i just cant!"

"At least tell me why? Am I not enough? I thought... maybe you'd understand.." He drops the boutique. He..he knew it..your too good for him...He really does disappoint everyone..

"Garcello I just cant!can't"! You don't notice the tears spilling down your face at this point.

"But why! I love you! I really do! You mean so much to me!" You take a step back.

"Just stop! don't do that to me Garcello! Dont give me hope! Never ever give me something I want, something I want as bad as you!"

"Why" he's pleading with you so hard..please...just tell him..

"BECAUSE THEN I HAVE SOMETHING TO LOSE!" You hadn't ment to scream. Your fists are clenched and eyes shut tight, you feel as if you might collapse at any moment. Garcello's stunned into silence. "And then I'll be open to get hurt... and I just.." You let out a broken sob. "I'm just so tired of being hurt" you don't move as he engulfs you into a hug.

"And as much as I love you too.. I can't risk being vulnerable again... raising 3 siblings and protecting them so at least they can have a good childhood while you haven't even had on yourself..." You don't notice tears of his own dropping on your shirt. "Being backstabbed and left broken with Noone to fix you...I just can't do it again..." He let's out a broken whisper. "I know Y/N.. I know more than you ever will."

Your just left there hugging in silence. You've decided. You can talk it out because as you were too blind by fear. Fear of being hurt again... he's just like you,two broken puzzle pieces that fit together.

Hah. Fair.

So obviously anyone on my blog, circa 2016-2019, knows my love for the ship. And I still talk about it with friends sometimes. It's a great ship, despite the traumatizing taint by the fandom.

My personal opinion? I have always and consistently said that I didn't need or really even want the ship to be romantic in canon. (Now, what I do in fandom is its own thing. ♥) The bond they share is more complex than that. Which is why when simple, idiotic, meet me in the Denny's parking lot, I just want to talk Arika took over in S2, she really didn't understand what Flynn and Lucy's relationship WAS. And really doubled down on that with her stupid movie (that I've still never watched). So maybe my unpopular opinion is that even though S2 had some amazing Garcy moments, my great love is their dynamic in S1.

It's so GOOD! Like right off the bat, they let you know that, yeah, killing isn't what Flynn wants to do, but he'll do it. He doesn't even care if Wyatt and Rufus die as collateral damage. But Lucy, nothing can happen to her. Which comes to a head so great in 1x11 when Flynn is like, "Help me or I'll kill you." Then she calls his bluff, so he's like, "Okaaaaaaay, help me or I kill Wyatt/Rufus." LOVE IT! I live for that sort of dynamic. And the constant implication that Wyatt/Rufus really don't matter in the future or the grand scheme. Flynn's insistence that it was just going to be him and Lucy. She was all that mattered in helping him save his family and the world. And I love the back end of S1 where Lucy basically just had free reign. lol. Like the @Karl 😂

Lucy already all, “I rank higher than Karl. Remind him.”

Anyway, it’s a great ship and it has a lot of my favorite tropes. Yes, even the dark ones like kidnapping. (Antis try to shame me? Joke’s on you, I’m into that.) I wish their S1 dynamic could have lived forever. 🤧 And that when it did change, it evolved into what it was always SUPPOSED to be. Instead, we got Arika trying to shoehorn her ship into the series, letting it take over the series, and making the whole thing unrecognizable from the original design. Timeless could have been great if it had been what it was promised to be: a series revolving around Flynn and Lucy’s partnership. I would have loved to see that.

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get? Oh, goodness. So many. lol

1. Clexa. I’m sorry to anyone who really liked that pairing, but I just... didn’t. They were so toxic, and Clarke’s character is still trying to get over some of the damage done by that albeit passionate tryst. But Lexa indirectly caused the MW mess, and you can’t tell me “love is weakness” doesn’t still low-key haunt Clarke to this day...

2. Becho. This one is just funny to me because it’s very obviously written as an obstacle to Bellarke (which I have issues with from a writing standpoint bc I think that’s lazy, but w/e), yet a lot of people are still convinced its endgame.

3. Marper. Yeah, I know I’m a monster for this one. But fanfic has turned me into a Minty shipper, and I just can’t go back. lol 4. Wucy (from Timeless, not The 100, but I had to throw it in bc I have feelings about it). I will be a Garcy shipper until the day I did. Sorrynotsorry. Send me salty asks.

Fandom Questions

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

Involved as in ‘frantically read every book I could get my hands on, daydreamed about being part of that universe and wrote stories/made art inspired by the books, if not actual fanfiction’? Mm, probably The Chronicles of Narnia when I was six or seven. The next great obsession was The Silver Brumby when I went through my horse stage around age 12, and then Sweet Valley High when I was 15. Hahaha.

2. What is your latest fandom?

Marvel! I’m not into comics and I’m definitely not interested in consuming every last bit of canon material or memorising the variations of every universe, but I love (most of) the movies and Agents of SHIELD is pretty cool.

3. What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in?

Star Trek Voyager. No contest. I venture to suggest that the older fandoms, the ones that are all about defunct shows, are a hell of a lot more chilled. Maybe because we’ve come to terms with our shitty canon endings and learned that liking the ship you hate doesn’t make someone problematic, unlike some newer fandoms I could name (Yes I’m talking about you, Game of Thrones fans. What the fuck.)

4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms?

I’ve dipped a toe into one or two fandoms for shows or books I’ve really enjoyed and backed the fuck out when the vibe gets weird (oh hey, it’s GoT again), but nope. No regrets.

5. Which fandoms have you written fanfiction for?

All the Star Treks except TOS, and a Trek/MCU crossover. I’d like to write more for MCU someday. Plus I’ve written longhand entire notebooks full of teen romance shit that bore an uncanny similarity to SVH, and my first short story was a fantasy fic that featured a girl whose guardian was a wise talking lion who led her into mystical secret worlds, which is kind of familiar.

6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.

Wow. I’m going to define ‘involved in’ as ‘cared enough about to have an OTP’, but I’m guaranteed to forget a ton. In no particular order:

Voyager: Janeway x anyone who can get her off

Discovery: Lorca x Cornwell or Pike x Tyler x Burnham (or any combination of)

Yeah you know what... I’m drawing a blank. I can’t think of any other shows where I’ve been invested in The Romance that much.

7. List your NoTPs from each fandom you’ve been in.

I’m too tired to do every fandom, and besides, I can come around to almost any ship if the headcanons (or fics) are convincing enough. I do have a few hard no-gos, but they might be someone else’s OTP so I’ll shut up about them.

8. How did you get involved in your latest fandom?

Reluctantly. The MCU movies are not something I ever thought I’d enjoy beyond a dull evening’s entertainment. I never expected to get attached to the characters. And yet.

9. What are the best things about your current fandom?

Voyager is my forever fandom and the only one where I’ve really interacted with other fans. The best things about it? In general, everyone is just cool, accepting, open and basically awesome. And talented. I love my Party Bus people.

10. Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?

Sure. The 100, Veronica Mars and Agents of SHIELD are the ones I’d dip into more frequently. I really enjoy crossovers between Trek and BSG or the Stargate variants, too.

Janeway & Tuvok! Also Torres & Chakotay, and I’d have killed for more Janeway & Torres in canon. (If they kissed sometimes that would be okay too)

15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

Yeah. Paris x Seven. There are like two fics in existence, and yet ... the potential! (Sorry, B’Elanna)

16. Are there any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike?

Nope.

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

Janeway x Paris. And they’re still way up there, but not quite at the top.

18. What ship have you written the most about?

84% of my fics feature Janeway x Chakotay as either the primary or secondary pairing... holy shit.

19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?

Paris x Torres. I mean, I feel them. I just don’t generally feel the need to write about them.

20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?

Chakotay x Seven. In another universe, it could’ve been beautiful.

21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?

Actual story that was clearly fanfic? A farcical drunken romp told in the 24th century equivalent of email format called PADDemonium (see what I did there?)

22. Is there anything you regret writing?

Lol, a few things that should probably have never seen the light of day for various reasons, some of them leola related. But I’ve only deleted two fics that I can recall.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

Relieved. It’s a 30k AU Chakotay moral dilemma backstory that brings in DS9 characters, Section 31 and his longstanding history with AU Janeway. I did so much research for it (way back in the days before memory alpha and chakoteya.net) and I’m really proud of how I wound in canon stuff across series but changed a few key bits and pieces. Only problem is, it’s a sequel to ...

24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit?

... Pressure, which I can’t even read without cringing. My characterisation of Janeway, even Angry Maquis AU Janeway, is way over the top and there are moments that verge on Mills and Boon and give me first, second and third hand embarrassment. God, I’d love to rewrite it. Actually, that’s a lie. I want someone else to rewrite it so I can read it without covering my eyes and moaning.

25. What’s your most popular fanfic?

Desperate Measures, by about 70,000 light years, lol. Although Fragile Things beats it on bookmarks.

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?

You know what? A fair percentage of the time, I think of the title first and come up with a plot second. Aside from that, I prefer shorter, punchier titles that clearly tie into the story (Flight Risk, Speechless), though sometimes it’s song lyrics (Burn Our Horizons, your body like a searchlight) or a literary quote (Required to Bear, All the Devils are Here) or a turn of phrase from the story itself (The Prisons You Inhabit). Hey that was fun. Thanks for letting me pimp the shit out of my stories.

27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?

Ugh, it depends on the day. Summaries are harder, I think. I never want to give away too much of the plot, but there has to be enough there for people to know whether they’ll bother clicking. Funny story: I actually ran the stats on this a few months back. Here they are for your edification:

Fics with a one line plot summary = 54%

With two or three line plot summary = 18%

With a short snippet directly from the fic = 16%

With a snippet + a one line explanation = 3%

With a one line plot summary plus a line to date the fic (eg "set in season 3", “episode tag to Worst Case Scenario") or the fic prompt = 7%

And finally, a quote from something other than the fic = 2% (that's only 3 fics).

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?

Ooh. I’ll say the final scene in Explosive.

29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not?

I used to regularly ask @jhelenoftrek and @littleobsessions90 to beta for me, and both of them are brilliant at it. Lately I’ve been posting without sending my stuff off for editing. This is partly because I’m impatient to get stuff out there, partly because I don’t have as much time to write/edit, and partly because I’m a little less focused on improving my writing and more on enjoying it for its own sake.

30. What inspires you to write?

Little bits of episode dialogue I haven’t noticed before, other people’s fanfiction, stray conversations, fic prompts, song lyrics, random headcanons, fever dreams, dares ...

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

I’ve been really lucky with comments on my fic. The least helpful comment I’ve ever received was on one of my early 30k fics and all it said was “Did you have to take the name of the lord in vain?” Which is kind of funny. The nicest thing anyone’s ever said? I’m very partial to the feedback that starts “I don’t even like this pairing/genre/trope/show but you made me love it”, and particularly “I’ll read anything you write, I don’t care what it’s about.” But all comments are gold. The little heart button is cool too.

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?

I’m not someone who can tune out music I love, or leave it in the background to inspire me. If it’s on, I’m fully invested in it. I’m that annoying person in the car who flips radio stations every three seconds until I find something I like and then it’s on 11 and I’m singing along to it. I’m also really picky but extremely eclectic, although there are genres I can’t stand (anything with autotune makes me stabby). That said, sometimes I find a song that I can’t stop listening to for weeks and often that perfect combination of music and lyrics will inspire me to write a fic. For example, I just plotted out an entire J/C story because of this song.

33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics?

All of the above. Although I’m not sure if my longest epic is huuuuuge or just huuuge.

34. What’s the word count on your longest fic?

101,467.

35. Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about?

I have two drabble collections. One is all J/C, full of responses to random prompts and I add to it sporadically. The other is episode additions set on Kathryn Janeway’s birthday (May 20) and added to annually.

36. What’s your favourite genre to write?

Angst, definitely. Sometimes it’s smutty angst or fluffy angst or hurt/comfort angst, but often it’s just fucking unrelenting angst. And I’m okay with that.

37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why?

I did the stats on this once, too, haha. Pretty sure I came out fairly even on first and third person with a smattering of second person in there. I’m probably even-ish on present vs past tense, too. I make it a point to mix it up to avoid my writing getting stale or same-y. And sometimes a fic doesn’t really click for me until I try it in a different POV or tense or from a different character’s perspective.

38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?

I mostly write for canon characters - the fun is in all the different ways you can interpret and imagine them - but I’ve been known to throw in the odd OC, or focus on a character who only got a brief cameo appearance, or write about someone who only appears in beta canon, or who only rates a mention on screen.

39. What is your greatest strength as a writer?

Oh, wow. I’m not sure. I guess the thing I value most about my own writing is my willingness to try different styles, characters, pairings and so on. The thing I strive for most is characterisation that feels true, and I really love it when I get comments on that. Exploring a character in a way that rings true with a reader is the best thing ever.

40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?

Overly long sentences and adverb abuse, haha. No, truthfully, there comes a point in most of my fics, particularly the longer ones, when I really just want to scrap it because in my heart I know it’s dreadful. Usually that passes once I slog through the ‘I don’t wanna’ stage because I’m a bloody-minded bitch, but sometimes fics do get left in the dust half-written. Honestly, though, they’re the ones that probably should stay there.

43. Is there anyone in your fandom who really inspires you?

All of the authors above for various reasons, but also august because her writing is so spare and delicate and devastating, and runawaymetaphor because she writes the most delicious Janeway/Paris, and @seperis because I read In the Space of Seven Days literally 20 years ago and I still haven’t recovered, and I could be here all night raving on this topic but there are still many questions to get through.

44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?

Janeway x Paris. I’m so happy there’s been a little bit of a resurgence in J/P fics lately. Thanks, @curator-on-ao3, you’re doing the lord’s work.

I’ll also take Janeway x Johnson content any day of the week.

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

What the hell? I can’t pick just one! Ugh!

... but okay, here’s the first one that came to mind when I tried to think about this: if you came this way by tree. I’m not sure I’d call it my favourite, but it’s one I revisit often. Ugh, there are so many other fics I’m thinking of now that I really want to list.

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

Oh, that’s hard. I should probably pick an angsty smutty J/C because that’s a fair proportion of what I write and it’s good to let a new reader know what they can expect. But honestly, I think the best fic I’ve written is The Uncharted Sea. (It’s safe for work. Maybe not for makeup.)

47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why?

The Archive, of course. Where else can I find ad-free hosting on a stunningly user-friendly interface with absolutely no moralising content restrictions and the world’s best tagging system? That Hugo award is well deserved.

Tumblr is good for headcanons and meta and gifsets and a few other formats that I’m less likely to post on AO3 because I’d feel like I was pissing off people who subscribe to me by giving them some random garbage.

I also have my own website, but I’m not really sure why. Sometimes I post fic there that doesn’t make it to tumblr or AO3.

48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not?

I try to. Honestly I do. I love it when I get reviews, so I figure paying it forward is the least I can do. I’m less scrupulous about leaving comments when I’m busy or reading on my phone.

49. Do you care if people comment/reblog your writing? Why/why not?

I mean, I love it when people reblog, but I certainly don’t expect it. @arcadia1995 is amazing for reblogging stuff *blows kisses*

Nobody owes fanfic writers shit, but I feel like there’s a tacit agreement that if you like what you just read for free and you’re on a platform that makes it easy to do so, you leave a review or at least a kudos, because I’m not gonna lie, posting a fic you’ve worked super hard on and seeing it get very few kudos or comments is a bit deflating. I’m sure a lot of us have been there.

50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?

During Voyager’s original run I was trawling the internet for Endgame spoilers (I don’t know why; I usually love surprises) and I guess I googled (or whatever the 2001 equivalent of googling was) something like “how does voyager get home” and somehow I stumbled across Revisionist History. At first I had no idea what I was reading - was this a lost story pitch that somehow got leaked? A professional novella commissioned by the showrunners?

Then I started following links and discovered yahoo groups and webrings and Trekiverse and fanfiction.net and all sorts of incredible things I’d never guessed at, including the now defunct ‘archipelago of angst’, a collection of Voyager writers who focused mainly on a darker Janeway than most of the other fic writers I was encountering, and I was hooked. So I wrote a few of my own pieces, and then I lost interest for 15 years. I’m still not sure how I got dragged back in.

Going once again by kudos, though I haven’t really written many multi-chapter stories, it’s my Timeless movie fix-it. Which funnily enough was supposed to be a one-shot, just some Garcy-leaning stuff, but then I was like “.....there is.....too much crap......in this movie......” and it got five chapters LOL.

Favorite Story You Wrote:

Always The Worst Question. Okay. I am going to take the pressure off myself and do a top three that isn’t like---my Absolute Favourites. Just some fics that I am particularly proud of, I guess. There’s Echoes of yesterday, which is post-canon Flinthamilton, and it’s soft and I like how the dialougues came out. There’s Should’ve, which is a fix-it about Hookfire, my precious precious brotp, I guess I am very attached to it because no one writes for these two LOL. Last but not least, there’s Cracks, my Wyjess fic about the night when Jessica didn’t die in the altered timeline. I just really like how that one came out.

Story You Were Nervous to Post:

All of them. I get particularly nervous about posting multichapters, but I remember hesitating a lot before posting I know you love me from the other side, my Neal Cassidy Lives Fix-It number a million and one, maybe because it’s particularly self-indulgent.

How Do You Pick Your Titles:

I cry a lot until some god above takes pity on me. There’s the ‘picking song lyrics’ method, though I am trying to use that less, now I generally re-read the fic, start thinking about the overall theme and what exactly it is that I feel like is The Point/I’m trying to say, and try to condensate it in a few words or something? Songs are a good inspiration too, even when I don’t use lyrics.

Do You Outline:

Definitely for multichapters, it helps me a lot to know where I am going, though I am anything but strict with my outline, I make changes along the way 99% of the time. Even with one-shots, I generally prefer to have the idea written down at some point. Sometimes I just have the starting point for the fic, I start writing, and while I’m going it will occour to me where it all is going, so I will write a note at the end of the document. I have a hard time just writing aimlessly, without even a vague notion of where I want it to end, it makes me feel like I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m just stretching it out at random XD So generally I have at least a bunch of messy notes about stuff that I want to put in the fic, yeah.

How Many of Your Stories are complete:

All my one-shots, Between (the Timeless movie fix-it) and Porcelain (my Swanfire Beauty And The Beast AU).

In-Progress:

I don’t have longfics that are in progress, but I have collections (Calls me home, a collection of Swanfire ILYs, and To build a home, a collection of mini-stories about a Hookedqueen fuck-buddies to co-parents to lovers AU) and Closer at heart, a series exploring a canon divergence in which Neal was saved by TLK in Quiet Minds. There are other series that are ‘in progress’ in the sense that I can always add one-shots, but they don’t give me a sense of ‘this needs to be finished sooner rather than later’.

Coming Soon:

Hell if I know LOL. I am currently writing for whumptober, though I have totally messed up the schedule by now, so some of those prompts are in the works... Then I have a million WIPs that are in need of attention, among them the instalment to close the Defeating Zelena storyarc in Closer at heart, which---I deeply, deeply loathe. That damn one-shot is killing me, I’m stuck. Ugh. Probably a new I Love You ficlet for Swanfire will be out sooner rather than later. probably.

Yup! I have prompt lists that you can always choose from, though I accept scenario prompts too! I am not always very fast at filling them, but I do my best XD (obviously, if a prompt is vague it’s easier for me XD)

So all that’s coming to my head is funny, witty kind of stuff, but this is from a whump list so I’m gonna do my best here. LOL.

Garcia Flynn had always tried, more or less (definitely less), to protect Lucy Preston. More than once, since being on the same team, he has pulled her away from danger or jumped in front of her to stop a knife or bullet. He knew Lucy could fend for herself, he’s been reminded so. Perhaps it was selfishness that was a motive. He couldn’t live with himself if she got fatally wounded and he could have prevented it. Thus, he knew she would always be safe with him. (And Rufus and Wyatt (for the most part), he supposes.)

So when he hears Lucy call his name in a panic, he’s ready to be at her side in a second. He turns around quickly but she’s already on the ground. Laying on her back, she stares at the sky almost looking confused. Her lips are parted and her hands are on her stomach. In an instant, Flynn has realized what has happened and he wastes no time in shooting the man responsible. “Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.”

Flynn tears his sleeve off (it’s a lot harder than in the movies) and ties it around her for pressure. He pulls her into his arms, mindful of the wound in her side. Good news is it was a through and through. Obviously, she is a lot of pain or she’s not in pain but still in shock.

“It…hurts.”

That answers that. Flynn’s heart clenches. “I know, ljubav. Wyatt! We need to go, now! It’s Lucy–cover me!”

Wyatt and Flynn are practically back to back. The one thing that gets them to work together so fluently: Lucy. Flynn, miraculously, lifts her in the Lifeboat and helps Rufus and Wyatt up in a hurry.

Bullets hit the outside of the Time Machine and they all flinch. Flynn straps Lucy in with some, cautious, help from Wyatt. He starts to notice her head droop. “Lucy stay awake. Lucy!”

When they get back to the present, they all decide that it’s a wound too traumatic to fix at the bunker, collectively they decide to take her to an ER. They speed to the nearest hospital. Wyatt decided to drive so Flynn could sit in the back seat with Lucy. He tries to keep a conversation but she’s in and out of it.

At the hospital, they quickly made up a cover story with fake names. Lucy is checked in as Amy Lincoln, her brother Logan and her husband Luka, were there when the incident happened. Some local gang kids were doing some sort of initiation; a drive-by. It’s all that comes to mind in their panicked state. (Luckily it was a Rittenhouse agent a present day weapon so the story should check out.

They take her to the OR and leaves behind two pacing men worried for their friend. Wyatt finally sits down and puts his head in his hands. Flynn is about to wear a hole in the ground. All of his fears and anxieties bubbling to the surface. He kept reminding himself that she was a fighter and she would pull through. (She has to.)

Its two hours before they can see her. She’s okay. She’s going to be fine. They made it just in time; there was quite a bit of blood loss and the bullet missed all important organs. Flynn lets out a shaky breath. He timidly walks into the room behind Wyatt. She’s awake, but barely.

“Hey,” She says sleepily.

Wyatt returns with a “hi” but Flynn doesn’t trust his voice in front of Wyatt. He offers a sad smile. Wyatt asks her a few questions (or something, Flynn wasn’t paying attention) before he gently squeezes her hand and leaves the room. He gave a reassuring nod towards Flynn.

When Wyatt is gone, Garcia pulls up a chair next to Lucy and grabs her hand. He places a soft, lingering kiss to the back of it. “Why did you do that?” It’s a quiet whisper that she almost missed.

“You were about to get shot, Garcia.”

He pauses at his Christian name but waits for her to continue.

“I was trying to warn you but–I misstep-ed. I’m okay, though. And you’re okay. It was a lot easier to lug me around than it would have been you.” She smiles but he doesn’t share her mirth. She scared him. “I was just doing what you always do: protecting you.”

“Just because I did it doesn’t mean you should too. And besides, you always reprimand me for it in the end.”

“I’m gonna pretend you didn’t say that. I care about you. And you care about me, I think… I hope…it’s what we do.” He kisses her hand again. “But I see your point and I’m sorry if I scared you. Now I know what it’s like to be on both sides.”

This time she takes his hand and kisses it.

The doctors come in and tell Lucy she needs to get some rest before they even think about discharging her (which brings a sudden panic to Lucy’s mind, what if Rittenhouse jumps?!). Flynn assures her and tells her everything will be taken care of and he’ll be right here.

They both fall asleep holding each other’s hand.

so idk if you could tell but ive been shamelessly scrolling through your timeless tags and for me, while i love garcy and think those two go amazingly well together, when its in a canon universe im always simultaneously like, but what about wyatt??? bc he does NOT belong with jess bc that is just a mess of a relationship/is toxic, and to me (lol) its obvi that he loves lucy and garcia so im constantly like hnggg bc i also totally understand why ppl don't like wyatt/garcyatt and im just: *sob* :(

Phew, okay, sorry it took me some time to answer this. But I have nothing else to do at the moment and no motivation for anything so. As always, I am unable to shut the fuck up, so this is all below the cut.

*cackles* I am SO pleased that you love Garcyatt and that you think Lucy and Flynn would be good for Wyatt because, as captain of the ship, I agree (I mean, if anyone else wants to be captain let me know but the position was open so I AM THE CAPTAIN NOW). I also totally understand why people are pissed at Wyatt and don’t like him, either on his own or as part of the shipping equation.

However, while I am and forever will be the leader of this trash poly triangle, I can get behind the idea of Wyatt and Jess, in the sense that if the show had gotten picked up for a third season, I doubt the writers would have been bold enough to go for a poly triangle (as in Sense8) or even the subtext of one (as they did in Leverage), which leaves Wyatt with two options: Lucy and Jess. Lucy and Wyatt on their own I just don’t agree with. I could get behind it I suppose in the beginning but after season two, no way. With Flynn as their third member, yes, I think the three of them balance each other out very well, but just the two of them? Nope.

However, we got some lovely Wyatt/Jess moments, so if the show had chosen to go in that direction, since it’s the natural direction for said show to go given the development of Lucy and Flynn’s relationship and the COWARDS NOT WANTING TO GIVE US A THROUPLE, I would’ve been behind it.

Provided that Wyatt shapes the fuck up, of course.

The thing is, Wyatt was raised by an abusive father, and we learn in the second season (2x06, I believe, or 2x05) that Jess and Wyatt were high school sweethearts. That means that Wyatt’s view of Jess, whether he realizes it or not, is skewed, because when we have a bad influence in our lives (Wyatt’s father) we counterbalance it with a good influence (Jess). But the good influence, since it is a counterbalancing one, isn’t allowed to be truly human. It’s idealized, put on a pedestal. Hence the “my emotional support actor/show/etc” joke from a lot of people, it’s a self-aware extension of that idea and it’s fine if it’s a fictional character or an actor you’ll never meet or even a real person in your life, HOWEVER, Wyatt doesn’t seem to realize that’s what Jess was to him, and so he’s put her on a pedestal and idealized her AND, since she was the only good thing in his life, he’s hugely protective of his relationship with her and terrified she’ll leave him.

All this leads up to an unhealthy relationship dynamic. Furthermore, Wyatt’s only had his dad as an example on how to be a man, and that leads to the same jealous, angry, possessive behavior towards Jess that his father showed towards him. Wyatt may not realize it, since in his mind he’s just protecting his relationship with Jess (the relationship that formed the cornerstone of his personality and sanity to counterbalance his father’s abuse) and since he doesn’t do the same things his father does, so to him, it doesn’t seem like abuse. In respect to his relationships, Wyatt is still five years old. He’s still a child. He’s desperately clinging to the illusion of safety and home that Jess has given him, at the expense of seeing and treating Jess like an actual person.

We see this with Lucy as he starts to transfer all of those feelings over to her at the end of season one/beginning of season two. He has Lucy on a pedestal. Lucy’s actions such as shooting Jesse James, wanting to go on the offense against Rittenhouse, etc, Wyatt can’t even compute those, because they don’t match his idea of Lucy as this delicate perfect flower he must protect.

So, with Jess going over to Rittenhouse but pregnant with his kid, Wyatt has a huge opportunity before him to be a better person. Jess is not going to be easily persuaded to betray Rittenhouse, if only because it would risk her own personal safety (and that of her child). So Wyatt would really have to work to show Jess through his behavior that he is setting aside that toxic behavior. One way, for example, would be to tell her that he wants her back not because she’s his wife, but because she’s a good person who deserves better than Rittenhouse, and that if she doesn’t want a romantic/sexual relationship with him, that’s okay. This would show Jess that Wyatt cares about her as a person and not just as ‘my wife, mine’.

I think that Jess and Wyatt had, at the end of season two, a great chance to really grow and redeem themselves as people together and through one another. That could have ended as them being platonic co-parents, or as reigniting their relationship on healthier terms and falling back in love. I’m good with either, honestly, because for me what matters is that these are two people who have fucked up (Wyatt more than Jess if you ask me since Jess was manipulated and gaslighted from her childhood by a cult) who care about each other (platonically or romantically) who are ready to use that caring for one another to overcome their obstacles and become better people. And I think that’s beautiful.

So, if the show had gone that direction, I would have totally been okay with that. Will I always prefer Garcyatt? Yes. The Flogan interactions are just too delicious, and I love the idea of Lucy and Wyatt being adorable co-captains of the Flynn is Awesome squad. But the idea of seeing a relationship that was loving, that became toxic, redeem itself and become loving again, I really like that.

maybe it’s because Flynn and Jess are the two people I see challenging Wyatt the most and helping him grow the most and ironically I see Jess and Flynn as the most similar in personality, not Jess and Lucy, but who knows, I’ve been rambling for too long, I’ll shut up now

Ahaha. I do remember you from SSM and I am delighted you are also enjoying TAW. They do have some obvious thematic similarities (magic, Oxford, bickering meet-cute, supernatural intrigue, the Sokolovs….) but this one is obviously modern and also has more vampires/judgmental family members. So yes.

I agree that the show/book of ADOW is fairly corny at points, and that a lot of whether you buy the main plot depends on whether you buy the main romance and its attendant issues (I answered an ask about that recently). But I was entirely upfront about just stealing the parts I liked (i.e. the entire aesthetic/plot details) for Garcy and reworking the rest of it, especially the character dynamics. Of course, I have now played myself, since I was all “it’ll definitely be a longer/slower burn than the original” and now I’m like

… in other words, we all hope this won’t be another SSM situation whereupon it takes them 200k words to get around to doing it, but we honestly do not know.

Why do you think I shipped it so hard in the first place?? I was drawn in by the type of character Flynn was, and his dynamic with Lucy. As you well know, a lot of Flynn/Garcy scenes are virtually identical to Killian/CS scenes, and yet people have the audacity to tell me that I’m not allowed to compare them lol.

About this Timeless feud happening right now...

Hi guys, I’m taking this to Tumblr because Twitter became a place where people are responding to some kind of tweets and let cautiously the pertinent ones out for their own arguments.

I’ve read everywhere that people are angry because Abigail, posting a picture where Lucy and Flynn seems like they are talking, promoted an abusive relationship. I also read that because of some leaked scripts and written interviews from Abigail, everything leads to believe that the romantic triangle angle is going to play out, again.

About the picture posted by Abigail :

I dont get the abusive trait of the picture. I am sorry, but : they are not holding hands, not smiling at each other, not flirting, no kissing. They are just TALKING. You know, the thing you do when you move your lips and answer to the person in front of you. Yeah, exactly.

Abigail is entitled as the lead actress, and as an actress at all, to post whatever she wants about her show. Does she have an obligation? NOPE. She’s doing it for free. Does she see Garcy as a potential romance for Lucy, I dont think so, therefore, you can not just go and say that she promotes an abusive romantic relationship between Lucy and Flynn. Did you see an emoji attached to the “ Garcy” ? Something that could lead to believe that Abigail sees this as a romantic moment between the two characters ? Nope, it is just written “ Garcy.”

Of course, when you see Garcy, you think of a romantic issue because A part of the FANDOM CREATED IT. PART OF A FANDOM GUYS. FANDOM. NOT THE PRODUCERS OF TIMELESS. Because PART OF THE FANDOM sees it that way, doesn’t mean that actors or producers sees it that way. Therefore, you just can not barge on twitter and accuse an actor of promoting an abusive relationship.

Just look at Abigail’s real life : she’s a single hard working mom, living the life she chooses for herself, helping, donating her money, donating herself and her time to charities, dealing like a Chef her life within the industry and her personal life. How can you think for a second that a brave woman like this could support portraying a woman who’s leaning into an abusive relationship. I don’t see it happening.

About the so called triangle angle promoted in the articles / leaked scripts:

Guys, we’ve been here before. Triangle angle. Really? They teased it in S2. They had 10 episodes to make it happen. News flash : They DID NOT. As much as I love Timeless, it was a big fail. If you want to see a successful triangle angle played out really well, painful and real, try the “ Sydney/ Vaughn/ Lauren Reed” triangle from Alias. THAT was a triangle. Lauren and Vaughn were married. Sydney came back from her two years disparition. Sydney had to see Lauren and Vaughn work together, kiss each other in front of her (more than once), hugging each other in front her (more than once), she had to listen to them doing it, in real time through a micro. THIS IS WHAT I CALL A DAMN ROMANTIC TRIANGLE. You know why ? Because we knew Vaughn loved them both, because we knew Lauren loved Vaughn ( at least she seemed too at first lol) and we knew Sydney loved Vaughn.

Timeless triangle angle #1 : We know Lucy loves Wyatt. We know Wyatt loves Lucy and honestly, we dont know if Wyatt still loves Jessica. Let’s just say that during 7 episodes, we never EVER heard him say those words to Jessica. And ironically, he said those words to Lucy, not to Jessica. BIG FAIL.

Timeless triangle angle #2 if we follow the articles / specs : Flynn looks weirdly at Lucy. Lucy loves Wyatt. Wyatt loves Lucy. So, there is something really wrong about the definition of a triangle in that case.

My following post will be about the fandom and its reaction, not about the news but about one fellow to another.
