I like to imagine the player being this kind and compassionate, empathetic and understanding person and everyone in Nevada is just perplexed by this. Nevada being a wasteland full of constant violence and death and all. Looking over the grey landscape of Nevada, and the apocalyptic red sky… Despite how depressing and hopeless it all seems, this player wants to try and lighten up the place as best they can.

Maybe starting off with small things like helping out any injured/struggling grunts they come across (Hospitality? In Nevada?? Shocking, I know.) And maybe stopping by some of the buildings to drop off some treats to the workers. Maybe eventually throwing a party or two to boost morale. Again sorry if this sounds too corny lol

That's pretty much why lots of grunts eventually start following the Player around or coveting their warmth. Similar to Salty's AU, the Player just tries their best to make the populace of Nevada less miserable. They can't fix EVERYTHING, even if they wanted to. Well...TECHNICALLY you can't. But maybe if the Player was a skilled modder, maybe they can fix some things...but The Machine still governs the world, so not everything will be normalized. It would require overhauling the entire reality itself to make Nevada an 'ideal' world. But if that ever happens...it wouldn't be the Nevada we know and love, right? The madness makes the world and if you remove the insanity and the violence, what's the point of it being called madness combat? Might as well call it grunt simulator or some stuff like that, lol. So I think the Player would have the potential to be a powerful influence as they can be. They can do simple things, like make grunts happier, or they can completely overhaul and mod the game to their liking. Don't like that a character dies? Mod the game and bring them back to life. Don't like the small weapon pool? Mod the game to allow more weapons. Not enough madness? Mod in a new difficulty with more chaotic settings. It purely depends on their knowledge, skills, and determination. If the Player wishes it, and if they're powerful enough, they can bend the very reality of Nevada to their will. THAT'S what makes them a god.

Ok for some reason my brain is hyper focusing on Johnlock again like I won't regret it 2-3 business days from now when I come out of it with 5 new open AO3 tabs (out of my already 156 open AO3 tabs not counting other unfinished/unread fic/fic I've not caught up on, full disclosure) for fic that I probably won't finish reading and/or while being unable to find the. Imagine after all the seasons are over and Johnlock are old and have finally talked about their feelings and properly, actually, gotten officially together

(and subsequently gotten married in like 2 months cause Sherlock filled out the paperwork while John was not actually at home and then actually having a discussion about it when John finds out it happened cause Sherlock casually mentions it and actually agrees after Sherlock mentions (read: steamrolls over him, anxiously) them practically already being married by common law and just officialising it for the tax benefits... they only have a proper wedding, maybe on their/an anniversary when Mrs Hudson finds out probably 6 months later or sth and complains,, but I've gone on a tangent again)

Anyway Rosie is a teenager, with after-school activities and a phone.

I'm just imagining Sherlock dragging John out on a murder case (read: date) and deciding to feed him midway through (like always, tbh,, sth sth that post about feeding the depressed man that tends to forget to eat but I digress)

So Rosie gets a text and a voicemail from the two of them (cause Sherlock prefers to text and tell me John is not the sort to leave voicemails, like he would have put it on the voicemail machine if they had one he's so old man sometimes)

And it goes something like:

[Voicemail from Dad]

"Hi honey, it's Dad.

Sorry we won't be able to make it to dinner with you, your father's got a case and you know how he gets...

Anyway, Mrs Hudson is going out tonight remember, so your Papa is booking the usual table at Angelo's for you... You still like the Spaghetti Bolognese right?

Don't worry about us, we'll eat before we get home. And the reservation is at 7, so don't be late. This will probably take a while so don't wait up either and go straight to bed young lady, you hear me?

Anyway I think it would be very cute, like they love and care about her, even if they're old men who laugh at crime scenes and whose ideal date is trying to catch a murderer together, and they show it by taking a moment to make sure she's fed with her favorite food even when they're busy solving crime, so yeah.

Honestly I’m not sure where/who to talk about this with but I’ve been thinking to myself after watching both seasons I kinda like mr b more in season one? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the mr b//scudlertron scenes in both seasons, but for some reason I think mr b (and also scudworth) are funnier/better in season 1. I don’t know if this makes sense but like what do you think… am I just fuckin crazy or

I literally have no better way to describe it .. they kind of made him less silly in season 2.. they tried to focus a lot of his humour on shock / weird shit and kind of abandoned him in other places (like a lot of episodes in season 2 he didn’t play a role at all, or if he did, it wasn’t exploring his character in a way that wasn’t LOL NUTS AND BOLTS LIKE HIS BALLS) and it’s kind of :/. Idk. Yes he was a lot more of a minor character in season one but he was a lot more . sweet and just a funny guy. don’t get me wrong i love how much attention he got in season 2 (especially episode nine AGH) and the crazy shit him and scudworth got up to but they did not capture his small sweet robot butler energy like in season 1….

It’s weird . Also visually he looks a bit different and i miss the cute and janky looking screenshots of him. There are quite a few where he just looks Silly looking and i miss it 🥺

Dunno if this is what you meant but this is kind of what i’ve noticed??? but don’t get me wrong i do love all of the development he got in episode 9 and other cute little bits./. but it is not the same!

Anyway I loved this one cause it's 17... to distract 😈

The party was in full swing, liquor flowing easily and everyone getting increasingly louder, sloppier and more willing to show affection. This was lovely when it meant Kris was telling everyone how much they meant to him with enthusiastic hugs and cheers or when Bojan truly let loose with his dance moves or when Jere was liberal in his use of pixie dust. It also meant however that certain people were more willing to die on stupid hills.

"I'm not giving you my coke Jure, go drink something else or get your own can," Nace said, keeping his grip firm on the can of soft drink, even as the ghost tried once more to steal it.

"I just need a little bit for my Jack, I don't need a whole can," Jure protested, hovering a bit above the ground so he was higher than Nace, trying to glare at him.

"I said no," Nace rolled his eyes once more and took a sip of his can, exaggerating his moan of pleasure at the taste just to tease the poltergeist.

He felt a slight shudder at his right and looked at the werewolf currently tucked under his arm, his pupils blow and tongue darting out to wet his lips. Jan was officially his boyfriend now and Nace couldn't be happier. He nuzzled Jan's cheek and planted a kiss there.

"Let me have a taste," Jan said. Nace offered the can but it was quickly taken out of his hands and placed on the bookshelf the two were leaning against. Instead Jan turned, pulled Nace in close and kissed him.

Nace brought his hands up to Jan's neck, carding his fingers through the ebony locks he found there. He felt sharp canines dig into his lower lip and he gasped in surprise, giving Jan access to his mouth and feeling his tongue explore it, tasting the surgery sweet drink on his teeth. He pulled Jan closer, one hand trailing down his back, already feeling the windmill that was his tail wagging at full speed.

"Success! The coke is mine!" He heard a cheer behind him and reluctantly broke from Jan's perfect mouth to see what was happening.

Jure had snatched the can from where Jan had left it and was now pouring it into his glass of Jack Daniel's, tipping his head back in victory and taking a large gulp of the mixture.

Nace looked back at Jan to see him showing off his canines in a grin.

"You betrayed me!" Nace clutched his imaginary pearls, offended his boyfriend would use something as special as his kisses to cheat and get Jure his drink.

"He bet me €20." Nace glared at the ghost now proudly sipping his stolen drink.

"I hate both of you," Nace pouted even as Jan leaned in to give him another smooch. He had to admit, the kiss did taste better than his drink.

my 80-something conservative-ish rural white grandpa only has like 5 tv channels and one is fox news. during the early pandemic lockdown, he didnt get radicalized by fox news, he’s actually disgusted by their covid denial and anti-vax promo. i can only imagine its bc my dad (his son) is a more trusted source to him than fox.

Is the DHMIS Gem AU mostly wholesome like Steven Universe, or does it have some grim things happening to the main characters?

I'd argue Steven Universe has a plethora of really dark moments and concepts that get overlooked or aren't dwelled on too hard due to having Steven as the center focus, so in that way, yes, it's exactly like Steven Universe 😂 But in all seriousness, while the overall plot isn't as concrete and developed YET (mostly from being a relatively recent creation, compared to something like, say, my KGTV Gem AU, which is also significantly darker and flavourably edgier in terms of themes, but we're not here to talk about that) I'd say it's a lot more domestic slice of life than anything else. It's actually pretty close to the Orphanage AU in that regard, haha. 

I don't wanna leave you with that short of an answer so, uh, here's some of my brainstorming attempt doodles. 

Sketchbook is a glass prism because light refraction makes rainbows out of something that's clear, and drawing in a sketchbook makes something pretty out of empty pages. That's it, that's my logic. Theoretically Sketchbook could have been an iris agate as well, but I left that option for one of the fusions instead. Bit of an off-colour, but aren't they all… 

Tony is a blue star sapphire, because sapphires in the show are associated with time through their future vision (or past vision, in Padparadscha's case) so it's reasonable to assume a star sapphire would be as well. Also an excuse to keep his face markings, to be honest. Not quite satisfied with the gem colour-wise but who's gonna stop me from taking artistic liberties on that? 

Shrignold is a permafusion of a Rhodochrosite (associated with love, has variants that go from Sugary Pastel Pink to Raw Meat which I trust I don't have to explain in relation to Shrignold, haha) and an Aquamarine (considering the aquamarines already present in the show, butterfly theme and all), making a butterfly jasper (for obvious reasons). 

Colin and Laptop are quartzes, because quartz is commonly used in computers and stuff (and to keep time!), at least as far as I know. It's a deviation from the show because I was never fond of the whole "every gem of this type has the same role and looks and body type and corrupted form" for quartzes especially. I had to actively keep myself from making them heinrichites because it looks like a circuit board and, well, you know. Computers! And for some reason I automatically associate anything lime green with Colin even though there is nothing lime green about him. But who knows, maybe I'll go back on that decision, everything I say is still subject to change. Gilbert is also there, by the way. He's an Azurite-Malachite. 

Spinach Can is a moldavite, Lambchop is a red agate, Bread Boy is a bronzite, and I'm a bit on the undecided in terms of what Fridge ought to be. I sort of settled on scolecite. Didn't want to make it something as obvious as literal ice. Finally, Lamp Guy is a blue goldstone. It looks like a night sky, that's obvious enough 😂

Both Yellow and Special One are half-gems, a childrenite and a pink petalite respectively. Roy isn't a gem in this one, but you know me, I do love my AU variations, even if they don't ultimately lead to anything proper. He is inherently a citrine though, if you're wondering. And that's my favourite gem C:
