Here are my three Seeker bbys!!! Stereo, Carl and Lightning! They are the most incompetent, least Decepticon-like trio of Decepticons to ever walk the ranks.

They're all on the younger side ( Young adults ) for Cybertronians, and their utter incompetence lands them far from any real action.

Honestly, nobody knows how they still even function...

Low-key just a random dude. He's hard working and tries his best, follows orders to a T, buuut... Yeah. Can't even pull off particularly cool seeker-like flight maneuvers. Loser.

Lightningrod ;

Outlier!

Lightning is extremely conductive, even for Cybertronian standards. She essentially attracts lightning when in flight, and is able to redirect that energy into a powerful blast once hit... Buuuut its success rate and strength is quite unreliable. The constant strikes also tend to damage her audials and disturb whoever flies near her.

Lightning has authority issues and often uses her poor hearing as an excuse to disobey orders. Extremely chaotic and impulsive at first sight, though her actions usually do have a logic behind them, and a sound one at that.

Doesn't seem all too committed to the Decepticon cause, either...

Her trinemates keep her in check.

Stereo Hurricane ;

Outlier!

Stereo is sensitive to various frequencies, and can eavesdrop into them with a few adjustments of his receptors. It would be an extremely useful ability for espionage and intel gathering... But he can't control it for slag.

Whether he'll tune in to a top secret Autobot Comm line or some radio blasting Earth pop music is anyone's guess. Has been wrong so often that everyone just regards the information he supposedly had as unreliable.

The amount of noise in his processor also makes Stereo extremely spacey and kind of oblivious to the world around him.

If it is ok to ask, how much time does your art take in total, more specifically the rendering?

This is gonna sound like a very generic answer lol, but it tends to vary piece to piece!

If it helps though, I try to always show the total time that each individual part of the drawing process (sketch, ink, color) took in real-time in all of my speedpaints, so if you want to know exactly how long the rendering (/colouring) took for any piece on my channel, you should see it written in the bottom-right-corner of the video! (^^)/

It's just hit me all over again that it's Crozier who is the very first and one of the only people we see on screen actually touch Little with any kind of positive intent.

That fleeting wee pat on the arm that ends their very first interaction in Episode One.

The idea of Little expressing comfort through physical touch but seldom, if ever, receiving it in that way in return is - as we all know - enough to drive me wild.

But the idea of someone - specifically Crozier - understanding that about him? Noting the way he expresses himself and reciprocating in kind? Well, that's something else entirely and I'll never be over it...

with the way the legend of ruby sunday is titled… legends aren’t usually told about living people. legends are stories of the bygone past, of an age long since over, fictionalised and overgrown with folklore like barnacles sticking to an abandoned shell. there is such a thing as a living legend, but they’re exceedingly rare. the unmistakeable raven’s call in the 73 yards teaser, the trailer’s cut to fifteen crying alone after promising to cherry he’d protect her daughter… the foreshadowing is clear as day…

and yet. there’s one massive HOWEVER. ruby appears in s15: millie’s been spotted on set filming it. which leads me to believe — the doctor isn’t one to take the time travel route and revisit companions that in his future are genuinely dead. that would hurt too much, it would cause unnecessary trauma and could break the timeline. that must mean ruby stays alive in some way. ish. she’s alive and a legend and a mystery. girl-ballad girl-song girl-paradox

hi! i've been reading some of your older fics and was wondering if there's any merit in watching buffy for the first time in the year 2024

This may not be obvious, but this is actually an extremely complicated and highly subjective question. I'll try to go on for too long.

As background: my mother loved Buffy and its spin-off Angel growing up. It was our Bible (besides the actual Bible). Not kidding, she was on the forums and fan groups and wrote fanfiction for it and everything (These days, she's really into kdramas and Asian dramas, and calls me about how the Thai seem like big fans of gay people). So I'm quite biased.

BTVS is both a product of its times and ahead of its times. It was a show about feminism and the struggle of living in this world as a woman, when very few shows were doing that. It was the first show to have a long-lasting lesbian couple, and the first show to depict a kiss between them. For better or for worse, it was one of the codifiers of broody vampire boyfriend. It was pretty unafraid to be experimental in a lot of what it did. It had incredibly complex and nuanced character work and growth that I still aspire to. Spike's arc is still matched in quality only by Avatar's Zuko. Angel's long term arc, from Buffy to his spin-off series, still makes him one of the most complex characters on TV. It had the most complex depiction of depression on TV at the time and I still think it's one of the best. I think the show had very high highs.

It also had very low lows. Some of the feminism is problematic in retrospect. The sapphic couple has a rather famous element that was severely problematic. There are, overall, some deeply atrocious arcs that I can appreciate objectively but not in practice. Xander: a whole-ass character aged awfully. On a meta level, the workplace conditions were bad (thanks, Whedon.) There are no people of color. The spoiler's sake I won't go into detail on this, but in general the good stuff was so influential and the bad stuff was just awful.

I think these days people tend to brush off the entire thing because it's Whedon. That is more than fair. But I'd also say that Whedon & Buffy is extremely similar to Brian Michael Bendis & Ultimate Spider-Man. Bendis was fantastic at writing sassy, bouncy, permanently stressed-out teens - issue was, he wrote entirely different serious adult characters the way he wrote these sassy teens. Same with Whedon: the annoyingly constant quips are perfect for Buffy, because that's who the characters are. They're awful in Marvel, because Steve Rogers is not Xander. Kinda similarly, Buffy was genuinely feminist for 90s TV - issue is, Whedon has not grown or developed his views, and now his works feel so sexist (oh my fucking god why did you treat Natasha like that). After a certain point it's egotistical: you're writing like that because you're Joss Whedon and it's how you write, not because it's what's best for the characters and story. But it was really important to me to get the character voices right, and it's freaking difficult to endlessly write dialogue that distinct, full of voice, witty, and clever.

I think BTVS & Angel TV's greatest influence on my writing is how intensely character-driven both of those shows were, and how intricate the characters were. What every character did was something they would do, if that made sense. Even the stuff I hated to watch, that made me uncomfortable, was the culmination of so much (usually). I think I also picked up the constant wit and humor lol. On a personal level, the conversations I would have with my mother where she broke down the character motivations and composition of the story was my first exposure to looking at storytelling from an analytical perspective and a framework of critical analysis, which was an approach I carried into the rest of the media I consumed and that was the primary reason I was able to become a decent writer. Thanks, Mom. Have fun with your kdramas.

TL:DR: There is merit, especially if you care about good character work. There are things about it that may make you want to drop it, which is extremely valid. Season 1 is rough but interesting, Season 2 and 5 are the best, Season 3 is pretty good, Season 4 and 7 skippable, and Season 6 is........epic highs, epic lows......

How am I supposed to pay attention to someone else's characters and world when my own will not shut up.

And, should I manage that;

How am I supposed to analyze and talk about it afterwards when I have to shut off every part of my brain to focus on this story?

How do people do buddy reads. Is there a trick, do you have some secret techniques to pay attention while also getting lost in a book?

Monster (Touchstarved MC Rewrite)

I've been really loving the songs from Epic: The Musical and decided to do a lyrics rewrite of my favourite song from the Underworld Saga, "Monster," for the Touchstarved MC, because I thought it was fitting, possibly for an MC turning to the dark side.

I did a lyrics rewrite for another song from Epic for my Alchemist!MC and his mentor a while ago, but I didn't change too many of the lyrics, so I might revisit that one in the future.

MC: How has everything been turned against us? How did suffering become so endless? How am I to finally wash this blood away? Or do I need to change?

MC: I'm surrounded by the ghosts of minds they’ve lost, Haunted by the blood and death that I have caused. What if the greatest threat we'll find is not the mist, But this?

MC: What if I'm the monster? What if I'm in the wrong? What if I'm the Soulless that's been lurking in the Fog? These hands of mine had killed them. What if I must bear the guilt? What if after this curse goes away, I’ll remain a monster, still? What if I'm the monster…

MC: Does the temple bear the guilt when they kill? Do their deaths keep the priests up in the night? Or do they take and tame in the name of faith, And believe they have served their gods right?

MC: When a childhood friend makes a promise and then Stabs the back of the one they swore to save, Did they learn to be colder when they got older, And now they can save themselves the pain?

MC: When an exiled mage builds a child a cage, Does she fear all the lines that she must cross? Or she commands respect, keeps her feelings in check To find answers regardless of the cost.

MC: When a traveller goes unravelling the mind Of a stranger who helped them, are they vile? Or do they have no say, made to drive insane And cursed to survive?

MC: If I became the monster, and threw that guilt away… Would that make me stronger? Would it keep the curse at bay? If I became the monster to everyone but me… What if there’s no price too high, As long as I am free? If I became the—

Anyway they can change between being tiny and human sized. And when they're tinier they can only be seen by the other fae or their selected humans. So if you just passed Noll on the street while Shavuli was perched on his shoulder chatting away you wouldn't see or hear her.
