Awful Characters Round 1 Part 1 (5/8)

Propaganda under the cut!
ANAKIN SKYWALKER
-war criminal -murdered a bunch of toddlers like five seconds after turning to the dark side -exploded his daughters home planet that one time -murdered an entire village bc some of them killed his mom (and not just the men, but the women and the children, too) -choked out his pregnant wife and sent her into early labor -murdered a bunch of jedi -had a really dumb braid at one point -tried to kill obi-wan (his mentor, brother, friend, guardian, and basically the most important person in his life) -failed to kill obi-wan and got his shit fucked up so badly that he became basically a walking iron lung, if iron lungs were an ill-timed sneeze away from killing you -went back for MORE a decade after obi-wan beat his ass just to be a dick. like he dragged the poor fucker's face through fire just to be an asshole -annoying
KROMER
Kromer is one of my FAVORITE villains of all time I love her so much. cult leader who is obsessed with the purity of the human body and thinks that having a flesh and blood body is the best thing ever and that people who willingly turn themselves into cyborgs are heretics, so she goes around slaughtering them. manipulated her friend, killed his family, and was generally just awful to him. she loves flesh so much she turned herself into a human centipede about it (body horror warning if you choose to look her up). she is an awful, awful person for basically no reason (her backstory and motivation is just that she likes flesh. that's it. that's literally all there is to it). I have not seen twitter users being weird about liking her firsthand but I know they do it slightly unrelated but people like to treat her & her cult like they're ableist or a metaphor for ableism- THEY'RE NOT. canto 3 is about religion. religious trauma. religious extremism. prosthetics in the projmoon universe are not the same as prosthetics in our world, it's just a weird choice of words, and nagel und hammer has nothing to do with ableism. if you're gonna hate her for the things she's done at least make sure it's something she's actually done PLEASE im begging you

I Finally Watched Encanto
And it was very underwhelming. I don't get what the hype was about. It was mid at best. The best thing about it was probably the visuals. Oh, I loved the variety of skin tones! Usually, I don't care about skin colour in movies but for some reason, it stood out to me in this one. The intro and outro scenes were good too.
I am not a film expert so I can't convey what made the film fall flat for me. But here are some things that I found lacking:
The music is not memorable and I found it hard to immerse myself in it. I absolutely hated Surface Pressure. Some parts of We Don't Talk About Bruno were nice to listen to but it still wouldn't make the top 10 of my Disney songs list. It's not a song I would sing to myself. I can't even remember any of the lyrics besides the title namesake. I think my favourite piece was the Caterpillar song that played for Abuela Alma and Pedro. Maybe partly because it's in Spanish so I have lower expectations for it lol. Since I barely speak Spanish and all.
The family members kind of felt like plot devices? That just appeared when the plot called for it? I am not sure how to explain it but the main culprit for me was Isabela. She was basically a nothing character who was just there in the background being a prima donna and rolling her eyes. Then once Mirabel supposedly has to confront her, she has all this major development in like 2 mins and finally cracks? Luisa was way better because I saw her insecurities and how weakness made her feel worthless throughout the movie. I don't understand why Cousin Camilo was needed in the movie. His dad was good enough comic relief. I loved Antonio at the start and his relationship with Mirabel. I wanted to see that relationship more in the movie so much. But then even he began to feel like a cheap plot device.
How Bruno was handled was unsatisfying. The whole plot about Bruno just felt contrived. Bruno is supposed to be the family undesirable who no one talks about...but Dolores knew about him the entire time? The ending with Abuela and Bruno felt so rushed too. I thought the climax would have involved Bruno more but he just showed up at the end and now everything is ok? Bruno was just a way to show Mirabel how special she was and once that happened, everything about Bruno was wrapped up in a neat tidy bow.
The plot development was poor and felt like a plot in an adventure game. Gave me similar vibes to the plot in The Rise of Skywalker. How Luisa just happens to know Mirabel's starting point. How Mirabel just happens to find Bruno when the dude has been living unnoticed for how long. Even the ending with the butterfly almost made me roll my eyes.
The powers felt underdeveloped. I don't understand the limits of them and why only the Madrigals have them. Well, I guess it makes sense for the family to have the miracle to themselves as a kind of comfort for Pedro dying...like men don't sacrifice themselves for their families nobly all the time. How much weight can Luisa lift? What is the range of Pepa's powers? Mirabel said in her song that her mood affects the weather but the movie mainly shows the weather just affects her individual space. How do they control them? What if someone abuses their powers?
Anyway, its not a bad movie but I wouldn't watch it again. I preferred Coco over Encanto. The family relationship felt more developed and the focus was just on the family members relevant to the plot. The Abuela in Coco was more sympathetic and the generational trauma was way more justified there. Plus the music was better and the plot development felt more organic. I would watch Coco again. Encanto is just meh and seems a tad overrated.

A couple people have asked me to expand on my "Ezra Bridger is a foil to Anakin Skywalker" comment, so here goes:
(Please remember that all of this is just my opinion and based on how I personally see these characters. This post is rather critical of Anakin Skywalker and I am TERRIFIED to post it because of how strongly people feel about Anakin as a character. I'm going to outright say that I will NOT be blaming his fall on the Jedi Order. If you are anti-Jedi, please just keep scrolling.)
A foil is a character whose purpose in the narrative is to contrast with another character, usually, a character who contrasts with the protagonist, in order to better highlight or differentiate certain qualities of the protagonist.
Ezra, like Anakin, had a difficult early life. He survived on the streets from the age of SEVEN. That's practically a baby (this is NOT devaluing Anakin's trauma - being a slave for 9 years clearly left a mark on him, understandably). Both of them struggled to open up to the people that offered them a new home (but both imprinted HARD on the first available potential father-figure - no shame there, Anakin, Qui-Gon is also my dad).
They both were separated from (and later lost) their biological parent(s). They both became padawans at an older than average age. And most importantly, they both struggled with the pull toward the Dark.
The obvious contrast here is simply that Anakin fell while Ezra managed to not to (even though he did come dangerously close), but a deeper contrast is in the reason why Ezra was able to not fall.
I believe that Ezra was able to pull away from the Dark because of the lessons he learned while with his adopted family and because of his gift for and desire to connect with other living beings.
As far as I know, Anakin did not have any close friends besides his master, his wife, and his padawan. And Rex. Of these, the only person he was generally open and honest with was Padme, who knew about his attack on the Tuskens and of course about their marriage. While Anakin appears to be friendly with the other Jedi at points throughout his life, he doesn't form any close friendships with them (the Jedi are allowed to be friends! They're just not allowed to prioritize their friends over the good of others).
Anakin chose to keep his secrets and he chose to not pursue friendship within his community. His support system was flawed because he chose not to engage, even when others reached out to him (Obi-Wan actually does ask Anakin how he is feeling on multiple occasions and Anakin usually deflects).
His main issue is that the love he has for these people is possessive in nature. They're HIS, and he has a difficult time letting them go or letting them make their own decisions.
And, most importantly, he wants to have it all. He wants to be a Jedi AND he wants to be married. Everyone else in the Order has made the decision, has understood that its not both/and, its either/or, for the sake of the greater good. Anakin shows countless times over the course of the Clone Wars that he will chose Padme over everything else, every single time, and that is directly contradictory to his duty as a Jedi. But he's Anakin Skywalker and he WILL have it all, no matter the cost.
Ezra, on the other hand, had the Ghost crew - people who challenged him, loved him, and encouraged him to be open about his past and his feelings (you know, the same thing that Anakin's friends tried to do for him!). But the support system wouldn't have worked if Ezra hadn't taken those steps and connected to them. Emotionally speaking, he was very close with his family and, over the course of 4 seasons, built up a network of friends to supplement it.
Like Anakin, Ezra feared losing those he loved. That's why he nearly fell! The holocron preyed on his desire for power specifically to protect his family! It was only through trusting Kanan and his teachings (and seeing where using the Dark would lead) that Ezra was able to understand that the Dark Side leads only to suffering, pain, and being wholly, entirely alone (Maul was a walking billboard for that).
Like Anakin, he had difficulty letting people go - he needed Ahsoka's counsel to let Kanan go- but in the end he succeeds where Anakin failed because he understood the principle of unselfish love.
In the end, Ezra shot himself off to who knows where on a ship full of his enemies because understood that he COULDN'T have it all - he couldn't save his planet and his family and still be with them.
TLDR; Ezra is a foil to Anakin because he was able to connect with others and put his duty as a Jedi above his personal attachments.
Sorry of this was kind of rambling and all over the place! This is why I usually communicate my Star Wars feelings exclusively in memes and shitposts.
(One last note - To be fair to Anakin, Ezra didn't have the devil himself, Old Sheevy whispering in his ear for ten years, driving a wedge between master and apprentice, and validating every toxic thought he'd ever had. I promise that I don't hate Anakin! I love him very much but he makes some very bad life decisions)

Ko-Fi prompt from Uncharted_Constellations:
I don't know enough about econ to ask about econ, but maybe a tip on how to actually start writing a story instead of just over-planning it? love your stuff!
So, I've been putting this one off for... significantly longer than I should have, because it's so much more subjective, and because I've been having so much trouble with my writing recently.
But let's give it a go.
Write some bullshit to start with. Frequently, I don't start with a real 'hook' of a sentence. I start with nonsense that could go anywhere, just to get something down on the page. "This is how it starts" or "[character] is [X], but not [Y]" does a lot of legwork for me. If I kick off with a basic opening that guides me to define the setting or problem in a prose manner before I start engaging in actual narrative, it lets me get the ball rolling with getting any words down at all. Often, it's enough to put me in the right mental space in terms of tone and style. Sometimes, repetition or parallels get you rolling. Whether you keep this section or not is up to you, as you can come back to it to fill it out later, but I find that writing something down is more effective for me than just skipping to a scene I want to write more. - Big Damn Kiss is an example of a fic where I kept this opening structure, by setting character ages and inciting incident in mirrored phrasing - Rex and Anakin Raise a Family is one where I use "the beginning of the end is this" four times in sequence to establish the premise - Imperial Consort Rex Skywalker shortens that process further, by using a numbered, step-by-step format to skip to the 'good part.' - Fake Spontaneous Training Bond is the three POVs of the first chapter, each established with a short paragraph headed by "it starts like this"
Alternately, I get a lot of mileage out of "When [character] [verb and setting, possibly age], they [action, emotion, or reaction to premise]." In fanfiction, you can usually use a character's age or location to shorthand a lot of information that lets the reader settle in quickly. if I start with "When Ahsoka is nineteen, she falls into the past," the reader immediately knows the main character, her age, what work she was doing, how much trauma she's been through, who she cares about, and what the premise is. If you're lucky, that's all you need to start, and you can always come back and change it later.
The next option for starting a fic I'm having trouble with is in media res. You can just... skip the setup. You might have to go back and add it in later, but it's frequently superfluous. You probably aren't writing television for twelve-year-olds, so you don't need to have missions assigned and explained on screen. Unless you're writing a fic that focuses heavily on politics and the ramifications of military actions, which TCW actually was, in a way meant for children... you can just start already there. Sometimes I try to pump myself up to write establishing facts and setting and Why The Characters Do This, and then I realize I don't need to. Why are Anakin and Obi-Wan exploring a Sith Temple? Because that's the shit that happens to them. Don't need an opening scene where they meet with the Council, have the mission assigned, and ask for details. You just open with someone hacking away at the foliage to get at a door and drop a line about how they aren't seeing signs of Ventress or something to handwave why they were sent here.
Get yourself a cheerleader. I have a few friends (these days, usually @firebirdeternal, @atagotiak, and @jebiknights) that I send things to as I go. I generally screenshot to send (none of them have particularly severe visual impairments, so it's easier on me in regards to maintaining formatting; discord eats italics), so the chunks are a few hundred words at a time. They do some beta-ing, too, but it's mostly just me going "is this still good?" and mostly getting 'Heck yeah, I like [X]" about individual bits.
This is a bit mean, but find a story with similar tropes and characters (not hyper-specifically, but if you're writing an Obi-Wan time-travel fic, there are tons to look at)... which is not your style at all. With a ship you hate or a characterization you disagree with or a plot progression you find illogical. Find something that gets your back up so you are fueled by the spite of "I could do this better." I don't actually do this on purpose, but the sheer fury of "She would not fucking do that" has propelled me through many a one-shot.
Playlists can help, depending on the fic and how you personally respond to music as a driving force. If you find the right song/album, you can railroad your brain into thinking about a premise or scene so hard that you have to get it out of your head to stop going over the same three moments from occupying your mental replay button.
I can't help with 'how do I finish' though. I only have like... two complete fics over 100k.
(Prompt me on ko-fi!)

MEET THE 119TH CLONE SQUADRON
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 119th Attack Squadron is perhaps the most chaotic, ragtag bunch of soldiers fighting in the Clone War. Made up of eight fresh-out-of-training shinies who were all desperate to prove themselves in their own ways, a corporal with a slightly maniacal laugh and a penchant for violence, and a battle-hardened sergeant and medic who were betrayed by the Jedi general they used to serve under, this mixed group of clone troopers was destined from the beginning to be a challenge for any Jedi assigned to lead them.
Apollo Eupheria was fairly certain he was not cut out to be that Jedi. For the Force’s sake, he was only a Knight, not a Master, and he’d been working in the Temple Library when the Council had suddenly decided to “grant” him command of a unit. Admittedly he had gotten some training from Master Kenobi on battle techniques and how to properly lead a clone unit, so it wasn’t like the Council was throwing him in blind, but he was far from stupid. He knew the main reason they were doing this was because of his old Master, because they felt bad about how horrifically she’d died and how grief-stricken he had clearly been about it. Sure, he did have some pretty significant skill in the Force (not nearly on Anakin Skywalker’s level, but he was good), but that didn’t change the fact that the Council’s main motivation had been pity, and he hated that.
Still, no matter what the Jedi Council was thinking when they decided to give Apollo command of the 119th, he is now responsible for all of them: Corporal Ripper, with his terrifying fighting style and only slightly less terrifying laugh; Makeshift, who delights in pulling pranks that make his brothers furious; Verbal, who lives up to his name with his quick wit and endless ramblings; Pyxis, the new squadron’s long-suffering medic who can never decide if he loves his brothers or wants to kill them out of exasperation; Seeker, the squadron’s sniper with a keen eye for targets and whoever won’t punch him in the face for flirting; Nim, the freshest one of the bunch off Kamino, who would much rather be painting than going to battle; the self-named “twins,” Sunbeam and Raindrop, who live up to their names fairly well; Whisper, the mostly-silent one who has been through a mysterious trauma none but he and Pyxis know about; Slim, the always-hearty, ever-loyal solider and brother who is always ready with a loud tavern ballad; and, most confusing of all, Sergeant Shadow, Apollo’s second-in-command, who refuses to trust another Jedi after his and Pyxis’s former general betrayed the Republic and nearly killed them, but whose amber eyes make Apollo unable to look away any time he looks into them.
And so there is the 119th Squadron - a group of absolute disasters, bonded together by duty, brotherhood, and the horrors of galactic warfare. Apollo is still completely unsure how he is ever supposed to properly lead these men, but as the Clone War rages and more and more danger comes to light on both sides of it, he will ultimately learn quickly how to keep his batch of courageous idiots alive, form a sort of odd little family with these men he would trust with his life… and possibly fall in love with his amber-eyed sergeant in the process.

the dinluke was EVERYTHING i live seeing obikin from other people’s perspective and realizing just how sickening they are with eachother. grogu calling din “buir” the whole time??? UGH i love it it was absolutey perfect!!
i absolutely love an outsider's pov for obikin, but what i enjoyed most about this outsider's pov is that din has a vested interest in making the best impression but he slowly realizes that his boyfriend's parents are....not....normal....
they're actually like insane and so weird around each other but luke and leia just treat this as normal??? what do you MEAN you called a grown man obi-wan (his name??) for a few weeks and he sulked about it??
din saying it explains so much about luke is not an exaggeration. and this is just obi-wan and anakin!!
imagine like that day (or the next i forget) when qui-gon and dooku fly in
din is firsthand witness to like a wild amount of generational trauma
he's covering grogu's eyes. he feels ba for obi-wan. he can't tear his eyes away from a Skywalker-Kenobi Family Christmas

The Star Wars sequels are such a beautiful message for the people who are healing generational trauma and righting wrongs they never committed in the first place to break cycles our ancestors were stuck in their entire lives.
Healing wounds that aren’t yours fucking SUCKS. Fixing things you didn’t break fucking SUCKS. It’s so unfair and exhausting and confusing until you figure out inherited wounds and trauma is what you’re dealing with not just what has happened to you in this lifetime.
I love that they made Rey a Palpatine. It makes for an incredibly powerful message of healing and overcoming your childhood and your family and defining your own destiny no matter where you came from - it is SUCH a hopeful and empowering message that such a literal ray of sunshine could come from such evil!! People with abusive parents NEED to see that kind of story where you become NOTHING like your family and can literally say fuck you and everything you’ve ever stood for AND your family name I want nothing to do with it! 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻 the original trilogy sort of dealt with these themes as well but the ending are completely different. Anakin finally sees the error of his ways and comes through for at least one of his kids. Rey literally DESTROYS her grandfather’s clone by reflecting back on him what he dishes out and changes her last name. She’s for the people who had to give up hope of ever reconciling or finally being heard by their parents or the people who harmed them and just moving on and building their own life instead.
Anakin failed to protect and save his love as a result of Palpatine’s manipulation and fell to darkness, betraying everything Padme fought for and believed in.
Rey, instead of manipulating a Skywalker to darkness for her own power hungry selfish ends like her grandfather, inspires Ben to come back to the light. And where Palpatine “saves” Anakin by turning him into even more of a monster after his battle with Obi-wan, Rey literally heals Ben not just of the stab wound she had just inflicted but ALL of his scars as well making him whole again by sharing her life force in an outpouring of love and saying I didn’t want power, I didn’t want to rule, I just wanted YOU, Ben Solo - “I did want to take your hand, Ben’s hand” not only breaking the cycle Palpatine’s and Skywalkers have been trapped in but literally fixing what her grandfather broke.
And Ben DOES save his love from dying and not only that, where Anakin’s thirst for power was his downfall because he falsely believed more and more power was how you become invincible, Ben literally gave Rey EVERYTHING he had😭. HE SAID GOODBYE TO HER WITH THAT HUG BEFORE HEALING HER BECAUSE HE WASNT SURE HE WOULD SURVIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE IF HIS EFFORTS WORKED. Literally the polar opposite of Anakin - being willing to give up EVERYTHING just for a CHANCE that Rey could live even if he wouldn’t be alive to be with her.
Everyone being all pissed at the “somehow palpatine returned” line need to get some fucking perspective. Their ENTIRE PLAN was to make TROS centered around Leia!! Finishing her story like they did for Harrison and Mark, and Carrie fucking DIED. I still feel the grief of that loss literally anytime I think about it!!! And I never even met her!!! You have this crew of people grieving this powerhouse of a woman and wanting to honor her by giving Leia’s story a worthy conclusion working with like SEVEN LINES they didn’t use from a previous movie. They had to build an entire trilogy finale that worked around a few lines of dialogue. Any idiot with half a brain can figure out Leia’s line of “always in the shadows from the very beginning” was what prompted the return of Palpatine because literally how else do you make that line usable?? Also they clearly needed a new villain because they wanted Leia’s death to be about saving her son just like Anakin’s was so Kylo Ren couldn’t be the big bad anymore - Palpatine as the villain is literally the only thing that makes sense for the movie projects (and even before I knew all of the behind the scenes of why and how they made the choices they made I loved all three movies I truly think everyone is way too fucking critical of our campy space opera’s and gets all worked up with their own theories and when they don’t be what they were expecting they have a meltdown combined with their internalized misogyny making them hypercritical because the story centers around a girl and people subconsciously hold women to unrealistically high standards)
So not only do Rey and Ben fix the mistakes of their grandfathers but they break the Palpatine/Skywalker abuse cycle that has wreaked havoc on the galaxy for decades. Making the movie about so much more than just another conflict between the rebellion and the first order. It’s an incredibly important story to me. Is it perfectly flawless? No. But literally nothing in life is so maybe just try and enjoy what you can and if you can’t enjoy it yourself leave the people who can ALONE.

Okay, so I’ve decided that I AM going to talk about this, just not on that post since it’s only like, maybe barely tangentially related
Okay so, the thing is-Obi Wan loved Anakin. That is, to me, his defining feature for pretty much the entire time he exists in canon, his love for Anakin and the lengths he would go to to protect his padawan’s legacy and name, even long after he’s been turned against everything that Obi-Wan ever taught him. To me, that’s the reason he lied to Luke in A New Hope, he loved Anakin and he wanted someone to remember him as he was, not what he became; he loved Luke, and wanted to protect him from the truth of his father; and finally, he was lying to himself, because he loved Anakin too much to accept what he had become, to reconcile the boy that he had raised with Darth Vader, scourge of the galaxy. You’ll notice that Yoda wants Luke to fight Vader, Obi-Wan only wants him to be trained.
And yeah, maybe the first thing he said about Anakin is to call him a ‘pathetic lifeform’, maybe he’s a bit pissy at him during Phantom Menace, but honestly? If your semi-neglectful Jedi dad grabbed a random kid off the street and started saying that he was going to grow up to be the greatest Jedi who ever lived? If he told the JEDI COUNCIL that he would push you through the Trials just for the chance to train this kid who, according to everything you’ve been told your entire life can’t even be a Jedi? Yeah, I’d be pissed too. But they got past that, by the time we see them in Attack of the Clones it’s obvious that they care for each other, they banter and snark and tease each other through the whole movie. Anakin is torn between protecting the woman who he obviously thinks of as the love of his life, even at that stage in their relationship (whether their relationship can really be described as that, whether it’s healthy or not overall, is a conversation for another day and another post, I’m here to talk about Obi-Wan), who he was specially ordered to protect and whos safety could have major ramifications for the galaxy at large, and abandoning her to save his master.
Even in a tie-in graphic novel I have that takes place only a few years after Phantom Menace, when Anakin is a moody preteen, and probably a general pain in the ass as he deals with hormones and unresolved trauma and adjusting to his new life that is so different from his old one, we see that Obi-Wan cares for him, is concerned for him, worries about why the Chancellor wants to see Anakin so much and frets that he can do nothing about it.
And yes, we could talk about how Anakin might have some issues about Obi-Wan being his ‘master’, and about how those would affect their relationship as a whole, but I honestly don’t believe that Anakin would ever tell Obi-Wan about that. And Obi-Wan, for all his wisdom and love for his padawan, is just not in a space where that would ever cross his mind.
Anakin and Obi-Wan love each other, it’s obvious in how they talk, how they treat each other, how Obi-Wan says, “I will not kill Anakin, I cannot do it!” in Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan loves him, and I think to imply that he doesn’t, to ignore the tragedy inherent to his story-to both of their stories-does a great disservice to their characters, and the story of the Skywalker family as a whole.

X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM --- please!
Jsjdhsjskckchxjsisjs UH UHM HUM THIS IS TOUGH.
...Anakin Skywalker. Not to be mentally ill and have complicated generational trauma, but you can't just pull a kid from his mom in slavery and be like "and you should be grateful :) stop worrying". Like. We could have foreseen this.
Percy Jackson. No comment.
FINN. FINN STAR WARS. Same personal reasons as number one!!
I think I'm become a Tim Drake apologist. I think he should have murdered more people. (I may be biased though because again...the day you catch me voluntarily reading a DC comics release I will be dead in my grave.)
Whatever is going on with Valerie Gray is so funny to me. She hates the ghost boy. She's dating him. She's full of rage. She wants so much to keep her boyfriend from finding out about her ghost-hunting career. He literally is pretending to be human for her. The local mayor and corporation owner is her personal boss. I just want to see what she's up to honestly.
Do I like anything?? What properties do I like?? This is hard, uh (at this point I went to go see my ao3 bookmarks in another tab)
SPIDER MAN. I want to haul him around by the scruff and watch him get into trouble. He's just like a dude 90% of the time.
Naruto. Love me a boy who kicks ass and also the world can be solved with love and care and punching. His entire familial line is dead and no one took care of him. First boy my mental illness attached to probably.
Uhhh Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. She's baby. She worships a fish god with peanut butter sandwiches. She tried to teach herself voodoo. She's fixated on Elvis. Her godparents and bestie are all aliens.
I'm sure I'm going to eventually add Duke Thomas to this list. But, uh, this is it; it's largely people of color and traumatized White boys. I don't usually defend them from their actions, though, I just like it when they do shit. First runner up is Yodito's dad. He seems like a good dad.
Thank you for asking! ❤️❤️

▸     PAINFUL  TRUTHS  OR  WHITE  LIES? Painful truths, a lesson she learned from her own mistakes as well as personally down the line. A truth means more, even if it hurts.
▸     SCIENCE  OR  MAGIC? Science, it has a line of basic understanding, though she isn't opposed to what people would call 'magic.'
▸      PEACE  OR  CONFLICT?   Peace, all she craves and wants for the galaxy and others is peace.
▸     NIGHT  OR  DAY? Day.
▸     DUSK  OR  DAWN? Dawn.
▸     WARMTH    OR    COLD ? Warmth, it brings a sense of comfort.
▸     MANY  ACQUAINTANCES  OR  A  FEW  CLOSE  FRIENDS? A few close friends.
▸     READING    OR    PLAYING    A    GAME? Reading.
—    QUESTIONNAIRE.
▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    OF    YOUR    MUSE’S    BAD    HABITS? I feel to some degree, based on movie / show and books, she can be too trusting of those who don't entirely deserve it. And also my girl wears those rose colored glasses when it comes to certain people and certain behaviors.
▸      HAS  YOUR  MUSE  LOST  ANYONE  CLOSE  TO  THEM?  HOW  HAS  IT  AFFECTED   THEM? Yes, there have been many who took up the job offer as handmaiden and lost their lives in the process. It led to forms of trauma regarding situations that could have easily played out but didn't. The thought still there, and the constant fear of it playing out again. Others didn't even lose their lives, it was a matter of being distant in the end. The life Padme lives isn't open to the public, even to those she wished it could be. So it takes a toll on her from time to time, but she tries not to show it in order to keep herself focused on whatever is her current target.
▸      WHAT  ARE  SOME  FOND  MEMORIES  YOUR  MUSE  HAS? The bonding with her friends/handmaidens. First interaction with Anakin Skywalker. Saving Naboo with help from others. Marriage. Pregnancy. Many things, but I'm answering this pretty late and have it queued for later.
▸     IS  IT  EASY  FOR  YOUR  MUSE  TO  KILL? No.
▸      WHAT’S  IT  LIKE  WHEN  YOUR  MUSE  BREAKS  DOWN? Denial, tears, heart ache. Wondering if it could have been different.
▸      IS  YOUR  MUSE  CAPABLE  OF  TRUSTING  SOMEONE  WITH  THEIR  LIFE? Yes, canon. In AUs set for her, however, not as much.
▸      WHAT’S  YOUR  MUSE  LIKE  WHEN  THEY’RE  IN  LOVE? Over the moon, starstruck, flaws are nonexistent {for the most part}, laughter, talks about the future.

Have you ever found yourself asking, "I should hate this but... why don't I?" for any given Fandom punching bag?
The Rise of Skywalker was messy production wise and it doesn't go unnoticed in the film itself. It is the one opinion that Alt-Right Griftters and actually sane Star Wars fans will agree upon generally even if how they present their point will diverge completely.
So many have poured over what's widely considered the world of the worst and yet... I enjoyed it when I caught it the Christmas after it first premiered. I still look back on moments of it and my general opinions generally match that of CinemaWins on the whole.
A lot of the internet promised me a masterpiece of a mess but I exited the theaters largely satisfied. The star ships coming to help the Resistance being people and no formalized army. Rey's little dance with the devil being actually pretty cool.
Shit, even Kylo Ren turning himself around got me in the feels. Though yes, that kiss reeeeeeeeally could've been left on the cutting room floor. No shame to Reylo shippers but it was far from earned.
Fairy Tail is considered to be trash. It's Shonen Anime of the lowest common denominator. One Piece Lite. Power Scaling is shot. And don't even get anyone started on the Power of Friendship crap.
Yet I love it. In my book, it's solid 9 out of 10. I'm eager for the Century Quest series to be animated and I stan the hell out of it every chance I get. There's a unironic glee to its proclamation of bonds and found family. Even with its smut, there's a clearly passion and love put into it that I can never hate.
RWBY had the misfortune of being streamed on Crunchyroll where the wider Anime community took note of an Anime-esque web show, holding it to bigger studio titles like Attack on Titan. It's accrued a hatedom and grifters of said hatedom obsessing over what the story wasn't vs. what it actually is.
Yet I love it. I feel like leaving the school setting behind was to its benefit and allowed the characters to experience situations that had other sides to them revealed that Beacon wouldn't have.
Ren and Nora confronting their childhood trauma in Volume 4. Yang meeting Raven and trying to sort out her messy feeling about Blake. Weiss opening up more of her family life. It all felt more freed without the Anime warrior school restrictions in place.
Additionally, the earlier episodes are rough yet have a lot of heart put into what they're doing. It's an amateurish quality that attracts me to internet based series compared to the polish of Hollywood.
Back to the main point, I often find myself disconnected with the wider communities at play.
I'm supposed to rip on RWBY as expected of an Anime fan like me who liked top tier titles and nothing trashy.
I'm supposed to leave all that silly Shonen immaturity like in Fairy Tail behind. I'm a grown up. I gotta watch grown up stuff.
I'm suppose to hate The Sequel Trilogy with a red hot passion but... I just don't.

This one is great!!! I don't actually know anything about the series it's based on and I still loved it which I think shows how great it is!!!! I love a detective au. Cody's character is fab. The author does a great job of translating canon in to a 1920s esque vibe. The chemistry between Obi Wan and Cody is great and there's a satisfying ending to the mystery at the end!!! What more can you want?
Cody Fett comes to Coruscant in the pursuit of justice; and there, among other things, he finds Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Order 66 Happened Differently (Star Wars), Alternate Universe - Post-War, Character Study, AgriCorps (Star Wars), Slow Burn, Basically this is a Cody character study in a thin veneer of ship, Mental Health Issues, Angst with a Happy Ending, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Planet Mandalore (Star Wars), Fix-It of Sorts, Somebody Lives/Not Everyone Dies, If you’re here for Blyla Ch. 6 is for you
Summary: With his General in a coma, the war over, and Senators and Jedi picking up the pieces, running away to the AgriCorps mission to Mandalore seems like the thing to do, really. Cody, broken strangers and a healing planet. Ahsoka, Rex, and finding new ways to save people. Obi-Wan, missing the action. Various schemes, secrets, and machinations, most of them well intentioned
I love this one so much! The vibes are great. The theme of healing is really distinct throughout and it's so beautiful. The characters are fun (including some great ocs) There are some great changes of perspective so you really get to see the impact Cody's running away has had and!! If that isn't enough, it's a really great ending. The story arc is great and manages to weave so many things together. There's Cody's personal journey of coming to terms with his past and healing and alongside him, everyone else is healing. There's action, a kidnapping occurs and a rescue has to be planned. And! Codys work with the agricorps is fascinating too and has its own arc tied in to the rest. The ending is hopeful. Honestly this fic has it all.

Relationships: CC-5052 | Bly/Aayla Secura, Padmé Amidala/Anakin Skywalker<br />Characters: Aayla Secura, Padmé Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jocasta Nu, Vokara Che, CC-5052 | Bly, CT-7567 | Rex, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Reva Sevander | Third Sister
Additional Tags: Fix-It of Sorts, Jedi as Found Family (Star Wars), Tarkin Gets Pushed Out of An Airlock, Unplanned Pregnancy
Summary: In another world, in another universe, Boot’s lover had possessed the good sense to lock the damn office door beforehand, and so Bly had never walked in on them and had never felt the need to offer up the last available condoms in the ship. In that universe, Aayla and Bly’s lovemaking had continued on, unhindered and without consequence.(This is not that universe.)
This is so great. Aayla is in the temple when order 66 hits. She manages to save some of the Jedi and with Padme, Master Nu and Vokara Che, they flee and begin to build a new home. I love what this fic does with the clones. It really considers how things would be for them post chip and deals with the guilt and fear they might feel even when released from the chips hold. Its heartbreaking but feels very real. There's a look at the hurt that can be caused by 'im doing this for you' 'but i never asked you to!'. And throughout the whole fic there's a really heavy underlying feeling of love. Platonic, familial and romantic. It's just really lovely. The ending is very hopeful. I love it.

Summary: Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi is trusted with his first solo mission: escorting the Neimoidian ambassador and her niece in her luxury cruise across the Core, and making sure that the mysterious assassin after her doesn’t add her name to their already lengthy list. Madam Netrith is old, clever and arrogant: she doesn’t believe herself to be in danger, and regards Obi-Wan’s presence as more of an annoyance than anything else.
The already hard job becomes harder once Obi-Wan discovers he’s supposed to share a cabin with one Jan Naasade, Concordian Journeyman Protector, for the trip's duration.
This is one of my fav fics. It really hits that whodunit on a luxury cruise so well. The world building is fab and the story takes us to some really interesting settings. The tension/ building familiarity between Jango and Obi Wan is fab, I love how these run alongside each other. The tension of them not knowing who the other is, is done so well, I was on the edge of my seat. I love what the author does with Jango's character, he has artificial lungs after damage caused by the spice ship which is a really interesting consideration I've never seen before and the author does a really good job of showing the difficulty attatched to something like that rather than doing the scifi 'technology made them better than ever and this will never be visited again'. The feeling of luxury and that 'how the other half live' is done really well and the author has done a great job of showing in small ways how unfamiliar Jango and Obi Wan feel in these settings in their own ways. Jango and Obi Wan are both uber competent at their jobs which i love and yet the story doesn't let you forget that this is Obi Wans first solo mission, in lots of little ways. There are so many twists and you can just feel them!!!! Plus it has a really satisfying ending.

You busy?
Miria was sitting comfortably in the cockpit of the Maurader, taking her turn on watch.  They were heading to Felucia, and the guys were all asleep.  Even Crosshair, sideways in the chair beside her with his head resting on the wall behind him. Their six week rest on Coruscant had been much needed,  and she'd even managed to come to terms with her frankly appalling behavior in 79s. With a few jokes from the guys,  of course.
But Anakin rarely commed like this,  so she pulled up the holo. "Not really.  Keep your voice down,  though.  Cross is asleep."
"I need advice.  Mom advice,  not Jedi advice." Anakin looked pale,  even through the blue tinge of the holo. It concerned her.
"What's the matter,  dear?"
Anakin took a deep breath. "Remember when you called me drunk and crying and I found you in that alley?"
"Unfortunately. Did you just call to make fun of me?"
"No.  I… I was with Padme that night,  and she was really impressed with me dropping everything to go help a friend,  and one thing led to another,  and…."
"I hardly think your sex life is my business,  Anakin."
"Miri,  she's pregnant.  I think that's when it happened." He blurted out in a rush.
Miria froze.  "Pregnant… oh Force, Anakin…"
"Yeah.  I'm super happy and so is she,  but holy kriffing shit what do we do?"
Miria smiled.  "The fact that you're both happy means I won't have to discuss anything as unpleasant as termination… I always thought you two would have children, but I did think it would be after the war ended."
"Yeah… not great timing on my part."
"You're hardly the only involved party. All that Senate money and no one could afford an implant?" She teased.
"She had one… I guess it expired."
"You could have gotten one."
"I don't handle doctors as well as you do."
Miria made a face. "Rude. You're lucky we're friends."
"I know. Otherwise I'd have no one to call.  I can't exactly tell Obi-wan about this."
"You know I think you should. He loves you and he'd help too. Besides,  he's going to find out eventually.  He could pick Skywalker shenanigans out of a crowd the size of Coruscants population."
"I know,  I know." He sighed.  "Just… what do we do?"
"I'll come by and check on her when I return.  Otherwise… get ready.  This will change your life.  There's talk of the Order's rules changing after the war,  but if the council digs their heels in you must be prepared to leave the Jedi.  Your family needs you."
He nodded resolutely.  "Wait… why would they change?"
Miria chuckled.  "I'm hardly the only general in bed with a trooper."
"Oooh. Oh shit, you think Obi-wan and Cody?"
"If they haven't,  they want to." She smiled.  "Maybe they'll get their happy ending too. And who knows?  I could teach a school for children of Jedi.  My own included…"
"So you'd stay if they changed everything?"
"I love the Order.  I don't agree with everything they do by a bloody long shot. But… if it could be better,  and I could still be with Crosshair? I'd stay and serve,  to make it better. If not,  though,  I'm ready.  My future lies with him." She smiled a little more softly.  "As yours lies with your child."
He chuckled faintly.  "Thanks,  Miri… that means a lot.  Sometimes I don't know where to go anymore.  With Ahsoka gone,  and all the secrets between me and Obi-wan… no one gets it like you do.  Padme tries,  she really does,  but she's never been in the Order, or on a battlefield.  She can listen,  but… it's not the same."
"I'm always here for you,  Anakin." Miria murmured.  "As long as we both live.  Order or not."
"I needed to hear that.  How are you,  by the way?" He said, grateful to have her there.  He'd be going mad without her.
"Mostly the same. The boys have been relentless since that business in the bar.  My goodness they think it's hilarious." She huffed. "I'm never drinking again."
"Aww. And here I was going to invite you over for wine." He snickered.
"Well… maybe one glass.  I just can't get that kind of drunk.  I'm not in control like that,  and it was bothersome." She shook her head.  "I really didn't recognize myself,  Anakin.  I've never been so angry,  even in much worse situations. I shudder to think what I might have done if I'd actually gotten to that girl."
"You're only human, Miri.  We all do things we're not proud of.  You're privy to a few of my mistakes." He admitted.
Miria nodded.  "I suppose you're right. It's good I have friends to temper those impulses.  Or drag me bodily from the situation,  as that case was." She chuckled. "I expect we'll see that temper in your little one,  and you'll really pay for your raising "
He groaned.  "Please let them turn out like Padme…"
"That might be worse.  She's a politician,  they'll know exactly how to play you to get what they want." She chuckled.
"Not helping."
Miria laughed softly. "By the way,  have you had any luck getting that arm for Echo? Poor man's running and climbing with the best of us with one hand."
"Yeah, I'll have it ready when you get back from Felucia."
"Excellent.  I can't stand to see my friends struggle."
"I'm glad you're looking out for him now.  How's he doing?"
"He's finally the right color,  and putting on weight correctly. I'm hoping his hair will come back,  it really seems to bother him."
"Aww. I feel bad now for teasing him about it." He chuckled.
Miria smiled.  "Anakin?"
"Hmm?"
"Congratulations, my friend. A new life is a miracle, and I'm grateful you shared it with me."
Tumblr media
Miria took a deep breath as she and the batch slogged through the jungles of Felucia.  "Sometimes I really cannot believe the places we end up." she finally sighed,  trying to shoo away the massive army of mosquitos the size of her thumbnail trying to light on any exposed skin.  "How is this not driving you all mad?"
Echo chuckled.  "You need a helmet. We're covered head to toe."
She sighed.  "I'm going to need a blood transfusion by the time we get through here.  And Master Che is going to force me through another round of bloody oatmeal…"
"I actually have an experiment I'd like to try for you when we return to the ship,  General." Tech nodded her direction. "If you'll indulge my curiosity."
She smiled. "Alright. As soon as we take care of whatever they're doing out here in this ancient Sith temple.  The Separatists haven't been out here since that failed kidnapping of Jabba the Hutts son during the first year of the war…"
"Nothing we can't handle,  General." Wrecker cracked his knuckles.  "How'd we even get this mission?"
"Master Yoda sensed something… stirring in the Force here.  Something I hardly understand myself. It could even be nothing more than a lost Force sensitive,  or it could be Sith trouble afoot. So be alert."
Four hands and a scomp link saluted, and they pushed on.  Miria tried to ignore the mosquitoes.  They were just creatures,  doing what they did to survive,  and that was the will of the Force. But if the Maker had seen fit not to make these things,  she'd have been perfectly happy about it. They were eating her alive!
When they finally reached the stone temple, it offered blessed respite from the insects even if it felt like harsh darkness in the Force.  Mirias face and neck were blotchy with bites.
"You could have swatted them." Crosshair muttered.
"I don't kill things that are unarmed and unknowing." She said firmly.  "Even if they are dreadful little vampires eating my face."
"We'll put some bacta on the bites when we get back to the ship." He sighed. Stubborn woman.
They crept carefully through the temple, the stone walls singing sorrow and fury to Miria.  But when they reached the innermost sanctum,  it felt almost…. Peaceful.  There were two cloaked figures standing together,  holding hands.
"Do you actually think it'll work,  Quin?" Whispered a female voice Miria knew.
She waved for her team to stand down and took a step into the echoing room.  "Ventress?"
The two figures spun around, both reaching for their belts until they recognized her.  "Halcyon?" Ventress went impossibly paler.
"Easy, dear. There's no need for a fight unless you want one." Miria kept her hands up.  Something was different about the other women,  something she couldn't quite place.  "What are you doing?"
Ventress squirmed,  glancing back at the man behind her,  who seemed to make a decision before pulling his hood off.
"Master Halcyon,  I can explain-"
She froze. "Quinlan Voss? What are you doing here? This is a Sith temple!" Her friend Ayala's master,  in a place like this?
"I know,  I know. Just hear me out?" He pleaded.
She sighed.  "Alright.  What's going on?"
Ventress stepped in front of him,  putting herself between him and Miria.  Protecting him.  "It's my fault he's here.  I asked him to come with me."
Miria nodded.  "Okay.  Why?"
"I… you said,  every time we've fought… that there was a way back to the light if I wanted it.  Didn't you?" Ventress looked so suddenly small,  looking at her feet.  Nothing like the arrogant Sith Miria had come to blows with often enough to be considered her rival.
"Yes… Ventress,  dear.  Did you finally find it?" She asked hopefully.
"I found him." Ventress whispered, finally lowering her hood.  There was a tuft of white hair where she'd been bald before,  and the eyes that looked up at Miria were softer.  Pleading.  "Don't get him into trouble on my account. Please…"
Miria took a step forward, reaching out carefully.  "I wouldn't dream of it,  dear.  And… your hair does look lovely.  I mean that this time."
Quinlan laughed.  "I told you it was a good look,  Asajj."
Ventress looked up as Miria finally stopped right in front of her.  "I'm trying to… fix my sabers.  Trying to undo the bleeding.  I thought if I could start there,  I could… be better." She whispered.  "I can't go into your temples,  but this place is strong with the Force…"
Miria smiled and offered her hands.  "Then let me help you."
"You'd do that?  For me? I stabbed you." Ventress murmured.
"You're hardly the first,  dear.  And doubtfully the last." Miria chuckled.  "Besides… what are friends for?"
"I didn't think you'd want to be my friend…"
From behind Miria,  the five clones poked their heads around.  "She wants to be everyone's friend!" Wrecker yelled.
"Against my better judgement. " Crosshair huffed.
Miria laughed softly.  "They're right,  you know. Now… may I?"
Asajj Ventress had no idea how to react to this.  But Mirias eyes were sincere and kind in a way she didn't understand,  so she glanced at Quinlan for guidance.  He just nodded.  "I told you she was a good one."
"You did." That bolstered her,  and she took her twin sabers off her belt and put them in Mirias hands.
The Jedi took a moment before opening them up and taking the two red kyber crystals out,  holding them in one palm.  She could feel the agony and fury in them. "When you hurt someone,  you apologize." Miria mused.  "Here… if bleeding them is to pour your pain into them,  then apologize.  Ask their forgiveness." She lay the stones back in Ventress' hand.
"What if they don't give it?"
"I did." Miria smiled.  "I think they'll surprise you."
Ventress nodded,  sitting cross legged on the floor. Quinlan sat beside her,  and Miria knelt on the other side.  With one stone in each hand,  Ventress closed her eyes. Miria put her hand over the stone in the former Siths palm,  and Quinlan followed suit with the other side.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me.  Let me make this right….
There was a series of beeping as the filters in the clones helmets activated against a sudden influx of bright white light. Miria felt it burn behind her closed eyes,  but she held firm and projected all she had to give.
Forgiveness.  Acceptance.  Peace.  Love. Kindness.  Compassion.
When the light receded,  she felt woozy but opened her eyes.
Ventress flopped over into Quinlans lap and he fondly stroked her short hair.  "Hey… you okay?"
She blinked up at him and brought her clenched fists up,  opening them like it was the most difficult thing in the galaxy.  Sitting in her pale hands were two glittering crystals in the most vibrant, pure white any of them had ever seen.
"I think… they forgive you." Miria smiled tiredly.  "Oh Ventress,  they're lovely."
"Asajj… you can call me Asajj." Ventress smiled weakly.  "I think we're friends now."
"Then you can call me Miri." The Jedi smiled back,  eyes bright.
The three of them helped each other up carefully.
"Are you going to tell the Order about us?" Asajj murmured as she put her sabers back together and clipped them to her hip. "Quin could get in a lot of trouble…"
Miria shook her head.  "It's not my story to tell,  dear.  Besides,  you're hardly the first person to find purpose from love."
Quinlan smirked.  "You're telling me you got a boyfriend? You?"
Miria grinned.  "Boyfriend?  I'm engaged,  Voss!"
He choked. "What?!"
Miria giggled helplessly at his absolute bafflement.  "Force, I can't wait to do that to the council!"
"Are you quite done airing our secrets?" Crosshair huffed from the door.
"They won't tell on us, my darling. Don't be grumpy about it." She chuckled.
"Oh Maker,  the grouchy one is soft for the sunshine one." Quinlan gasped.
"Remind you of anyone?" Asajj slipped her arm around his waist with a smile.
He booped her nose.  "You were real grouchy when we met."
She made a face.  Wrecker shook his head.  "So that's it?  We're all friends now?"
Miria nodded.  "Sometimes that's all it takes."
Tumblr media
"I still can't believe you let her hug you." Crosshair grumbled, dabbing bacta on Miria's now very swollen face. "She tried to kill you.  More than once."
"I hug all my friends." She chuckled. "Ow."
"Sorry, I know it stings.  But she was a Sith!"
"It's not your fault,  darling.  And she's not a Sith anymore!"
"Could you two pick a conversation to have?  You're giving me a headache." Hunter groaned.
"Sorry,  dear." Miria smiled sheepishly,  eyes disappearing in her puffy cheeks in the motion. "Oh dear. It's gone dark."
"It's a histamine reaction,  General.  It appears you are allergic to Felucian mosquito bites." Tech shook his head disparagingly.
"Good thing I wore armor and gloves. I hate to imagine the state my hands would be in,  if my face looks like I think it does." She murmured.
"The bacta should reduce the swelling soon." He patted her shoulder.  "I would stay away from the fresher mirror until then.  You are… you look different."
"Is it that bad,  Cross?" She looked at him.
"Baby girl,  I'm not answering that.  Just stay away from the mirror." He planted a kiss on her ballooned cheek,  grimacing at the taste of bacta.
"Oh dear…"
"Come with me,  General.  My little experiment might help." Tech offered,  so she got up and followed him.
"So what exactly is this you've been working on?"
"Cellular replication booster. It won't work as quickly as Jedi healing,  but a couple treatments will keep you on your feet.  If we were ever unable to get to Coruscant,  you wouldn't just die on us."
"That's a relieving thought." She chuckled.
He sat her down on a cargo crate and helped her pull off her chest plate.  "Sorry,  General.  Can you pull your dress down?" His face was red.
She nodded,  opening it up so he could access her chest.  "Don't worry,  dear.  I've been in medical situations many times."
He nodded,  affixing a little palm sized device to her chest with sticky cups. "This tattoo is quite well placed.  It just goes right here,  in the bullseye,  and-"
Miria squeaked when a lancet shot out,  sticking shallowly into her chest.  He set a cuff around her wrist,  another needle sinking in, and connected them both with tubes.  "There.  It'll take about an hour for one treatment,  and we'll check in then."  Tech murmured,  putting a blanket over her shoulders.
"You're brilliant,  but we need to work on your bedside manner.  You might have warned me it was going to stab me." She chuckled,  leaning against the wall.
"I'm sorry.  I was… excited to try it out. It won't be a perfect cure,  but I've got time to keep working."
She nodded.  Time.  Yes,  they had time… she was never leaving them,  the rest of her life.  They had all the time they could give her.

5 Things You Never Get Tired of Writing
Thank you for the tag, @writingpotato07!
Rules: list five things you never get tired of writing. It can be tropes, themes, characters, phrases, whatever brings you joy. Then tag five people!
Gonna leave this tag open to whoever follows me and writes fic!
This got kind of long, so... gonna pop a 'keep reading' in there.

Fluff
I'm not sorry. This world quite often feels like a sinking ship and all I want to do is curl up with my favorites, living their best lives, and enjoying one another. Domestic, platonic, romantic, family... I will write it until my keyboard breaks. Canon stole my happy ending away from me, I will be giving it back to my pair (and their friends and family) as long as I can. Some of it's tooth-rotting, but I try to make most of it realistic.
It's not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, it's simple contentment. Little moments. Gentle touches. I just want to cultivate the lovey dovey feels. 🥰
Bantering
Look, I'm very snarky and sarcastic in real life. So are my friends. We love each other dearly, and tease without restraint. My characters do as well, and always will when the setting and situation is appropriate. Though I have yet to talk about my original work, my MC is full of sass, every minute of every day. His relationship with his best friend is built on it.
It's so much fun to write, to say out loud to make sure it flows, and it's a great way to build chemistry and show deep trust between characters, imho.
Actual Communication
I'm bothered immensely at deliberate and repeated miscommunication when a simple, "Will you please talk to me?" would truly suffice. I like including emotional vulnerability and radical honesty in my fics whenever it's possible for my characters to talk it out. Maybe the big fight won't be solved. Deeply-rooted issues, trauma, and hurt rarely are that easily. But harboring and suppressing is unhealthy and unsustainable, and definitely does not solve anything.
I try to write healthy relationships, and I like it when adults talk to each other as adults, even through their insecurities and emotions.
Human Disaster Anakin Skywalker
Anyone that reads my fics can probably tell this already, but I love this trope. In my worlds, with no dark side, or lava planets, I just need my slightly awkward Anakin and his antics, getting himself into trouble, and just generally causing an innocent scene. The man tries, so hard sometimes, and things still go awry. Yet, Padmé is right there, welcoming him back with open arms because she loves him. Disasters and all.
okay maybe this is subtle wish fulfillment from being a disaster myself...
Padmé Amidala/Naberrie
This should absolutely go without saying. I adore her. Canon makes me sad with the lack of her, the literal mother of the rebellion. She's the reason I'm writing fic. I love her for everything she is, and everything she's not. For every unhinged idea she conjures up, for every time she does or does not throw caution to the wind, and for how much there is to explore with her as a person and in her psyche. I could write an essay, so I have to stop myself here. She's versatile, nuanced, and unapologetic. I will never get tired of writing her.

LOVE AT ANY AGE!
We discuss two (of many) love stories that will be featured in our fan film trilogy, aside from Ben and Rey's love story! Wedge Antilles was a fan favorite from the original trilogy... an ace pilot devoted to the cause of the Rebel Alliance. A dear friend of Leia, Han, and Luke, he served as a "mirror" for those three legacy characters to look at themselves with. Well, in the canon novel "Aftermath" --- which is a trilogy of books written by Charles Soule --- Wedge takes center stage and his character is developed even further and given a deep rich story to tell that involves another ace pilot and Rebel Alliance officer, Norra Wexley.
Norra had a family of her own, long before her interest in Wedge grew into a romantic liaison, that produced a son named Temmin "Snap" Wexley. When her husband was taken as a prisoner, she decided she couldn't just leave it up authorities to find him, she took matter into her own hands. Leaving a young Temmin with his sister and her sister's wife on her home planet of Akiva.
Along the way, Brentin Wexley unfortunately dies, and through the years Wedge and Norra grow closer and their relationship changes. And we see them twenty years after those events in the timeline of our post-sequel films. They are the "old guard" as Wedge's actor in our films, Charles Wilson, states and they were both incredibly close to Han and Leia. They represent them in a world where they cannot really be there in the way they want to be.
On the other side of the house, we follow the story of the canon book, "Poe Dameron: Free Fall" to discover that his teenage love is a torch that he's carried for decades. And when we see him in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker say, "I had a little thing in Kijimi!" --- he means her not just the "adventures" of being a Spice Runner. The young teenage girl that stole his heart, and broke it when in his mind she left him, is the one that greets him with a blaster to his head at Monk's Gate when he lands on that planet.
From Zorii's point of view, Poe left her. Zorii was born as the sole heir to this underground "empire" that her mother Zeva Bliss had built and ran for as long as she had been alive. Zorii had no choice of her own in the matter; she was instantly a target for her mother's rivals and enemies, and she was also instantly appointed to inherit a life she didn't really want. But... it was all she knew. So when Poe runs into her, everything about her life comes into question.
Our Zorii, actress Selene Hsin, was not able to make this taping but we did have actor Tony Rescigno, who plays Poe for our films, talks about the mysteries between these two characters and how they find themselves at very different points in their lives.
Zorii has lost her entire planet, 75-80% of the people on her team were blown up by Palpatine's General Enric Pryde. She has no home, no business, but still shows up for Poe with the rest of the Citizen's Fleet, along with her sidekick Babu Frik. We love that Anzellan!
And Poe, he's lost so much of his colleagues, one of his best friends in Temmin Wexley, his mother-figure in Leia, and he inherits the "Resistance" but its in shambles and there are so many refugees in need of assistance from the planets of Kijimi and the 5 planets that were destroyed in the Hosnian Cataclysm. And he's starting without any of the funding that Leia had secured with her many connections.
And we wanted to explore that story, and how these characters individually deal with their own trauma and hardships and then find each other again.
We hope you guys really enjoy these expanded stories that we are looking to tell --- and we do realize not everyone may necessary like the pairings, but again we are trying to follow canon as much as possible and it is a fan fiction... many of these exist and we celebrate them ALL and hope you give ours a chance too!
