Sans is surprised. Big WOAH for him. He thinks it's pretty damn awesome that you can manipulate ice- as well as being balanced enough to skate on it.

Dust thinks it's pretty cool. He'll hang around and sort of just watch you do your thing. He likes to sit on your ice if you'll make him an ice perch.

Killer thinks it's awesome. He loves messing around with ice normally- the fact that you can manipulate and generate it is really cool to him. He'll join you in "ice-skating".

Nightmare is intrigued, probably figures out the reason behind how that works. He likes to watch you use your ice manipulation abilities, and will also join you on the ice if you convince him well enough.

6. When did they realize they loved each other?

I think it would have been back during late night discussions while they were coming up with the Source Blood experiment. (I also headcanon that John was Helen's patient before the Source Blood, which is maybe how he got drawn into the Five)

They would have already spent a lot of time together, alone or in a group setting, and had mutual respect and affection for each other. John would have realized it well before Helen and wouldn't have said anything because of that mutual respect, but Helen would come to the realization while John is listening and discussing things with her, treating her like he would anyone else, and reflecting on how much that means to her and realizing that the affection has gone beyond friendship. (After that is when they would have started courting, so it was 'proper'.)

8. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another?

Going to divide this up between pre-Source Blood and post-Source Blood, for obvious reasons.

Pre-Source Blood, John's gentler personality would have complimented Helen's logical and very driven personality, because it would remind her to slow down and appreciate things and people more than she would otherwise think to.

Post-Source Blood, Helen's personality would remind John of what it's like to be human and I think also push him towards making better decisions instead of always taking the violent way out.

(Ugh, those descriptions are sucky, trying to describe ✨vibes✨ is always so hard)

27. What random everyday object/activity makes them think of each other?

For John, just going for a walk, especially in a park, would remind him of Helen, especially since it probably would have been something that they did together.

For Helen, I think just sitting down to read would remind her of John, because back when they fell in love, John especially would have always had a book or two with him (since he was a barrister and a schoolteacher) and they would have spent a lot of time together reading and researching, or just sitting together quietly while they each read.

12. Which member is more verbally affectionate?

Nikola for certain. Helen likes to keep things more private in front of others and she does have a hard time with her emotions sometimes. Nikola, on the other hand, loves teasing her already and being sincere on top of trying to annoy her would be too much fun for him. (Also, Helen probably needs to hear these things more than he does)

16. Who stays up way too late and who tries to drag them to bed?

Oh, Helen definitely stays up way too late and Nikola has to come into her study or the lab or whatever and come and get her to come to bed. He can go without sleep, but she's human enough to need it and he has to make sure she gets it, whether she likes it or not.

37. What do they like the least about each other?

For Helen, I think the thing she likes least about Nikola is his tendency to alter a situation/do whatever benefits him the most, instead of looking at the bigger picture or thinking of other people. (I don't think she would quite forget how he joined SCIU, even if she forgave him)

For Nikola, I think it would be Helen's almost self-destructive habits. How she 'dealt' with her radiation sickness, nearly blowing herself up in the Sanctuary, among a myriad of other things.

Is there a way for Kyrie to snap out of his frenzies? And would he take Melody out with him as he swam to show her cool places he’s been?

So for him they're special. Because of the mer he is it's not the same as blind hunger (which is only caused by starving themselves to a point it's eat or die). For Kyrie it's his charge is in danger or potential danger.

Melody is his charge while she's alive so if she's in any danger he can see it'll be hard to stop him. When there's no visible danger he can at least be somewhat reasoned with to just stay close.

If Kyrie actually entered a frenzy like the old stories talk about well... no there's no stopping it until he's eaten enough to be considered safe. It's survival instincts taking over, base needs overriding thoughts. At best injuring him could snap him out long enough for someone to run, but his body wouldn't let it last long. The better news is with his size he's less likely to hurt smaller mers. They wouldn't do anything to satiate him so he'd just swim past It unfortunately does put Byssal in danger if Kyrie were to ever lose it though. The Ocean itself would stop him most likely, guiding him to a spot with viable food. He's not a normal mer after all and if he posed a danger it would be the opposite of his role. (Completely hypothetical though since his type of mer doesn't need to eat much, they can live off the plankton and other nearly impossible to see (for them) creatures it's how Harmony survives)

For Swimming to cool places he does sometimes. He gets nervous after the one time they went out and other mers tried to take "the siren". It takes a while for him to realize at his full size that other mers can't do anything to her. Once that happens he starts asking her to go with him to a lot of places. Sometimes it's just pretty lights of a city he can see from water. Other times he asks her to trust him to carry her in his mouth to an underwater cave he found that was fun. He does in fact bring her to where he lives with Pel and Byssal at some point. Melody spends at least half an hour explaining why the instruments and statues need to be brought back eventually.

When/how did you first come up with Vincent and Ava? How long did it take to develop their story?

So as to when, I really don't know to be honest. It was all by chance on how I came up with the story.

I love the concept of becoming something your not. Like "what if there was a gun, that didn't want to be a gun" sorta story. I wanted a story like that, so... I thought of a ghost story.

Simple concept, ghosts, haunted house, which you can still read the concept idea for in the first story of Vincent lurking in the house. Vincent was originally supposed to be a ghost, along with three other ghosts that also lurked in the house with varying personalities, but it's Vincent who has relations with the "Visitor" (aka Ava wasn't made at this point)

It was a bit drab and dull, and a bit cleashae, but I still edited the plot, took out the three ghosts, and just had Vincent. He had a much softer, less cheeky form of personality. Soft spoken, wise, not scaring the shit outa preists, and actually upset of who he is, and that's how it was...

...until I found the existence of Alastor

I absolutely LOVED how Alastor acts in terms of speech, movement, and personality. That and he was a demon. So much more badass. With a ghost, the unnatural abilities are very wonky in my opinion. They can't pickstuff up in one movie but in the next they can? Cam they pick stuff up or not? That and a few other things. With Vincent's design however, he can fly, produce fire and electricity from his fingertips, the whole shebang.

From then on he was a demon, you will see later that he regrets and is sorrowful of what he did in the past, and how little he thinks he has changed, but from what he did, he changed a vast amount, he just had a moment is all.

Ava was the simple sorta dansile in distress sorta scenario, someone for the hero to save and get married to in the end... but there's more to her than a plot like that... a lot more.

In Ava's original design plot, she was an adult. Simple as that. But I wanted to get into depth with DEEP things to really put tension in the plot like, hard-core bullying, cheating, and strait-up suicide because it somewhat reflects the life I lived through... more or less that is. And I thought making Ava a grown ass adult wouldn't cut it, which meant her backstory had to be cut.

Her original story was that she was being s##sualy abused by some drunk pervert, chased her into the woods, came upon the house, hid in it, he eventually finds her, and prepares to do some shit I don't even wanna think about, then Vincent shows up and strait up snaps this guy's neck in an 180 degree angle like John fucking Wick. Ava is scared the shit out of her mind and Vincent tries the comfort her by saying idk something like "don't worrie my dear, your safe now" and uses his demonic magic to put her to sleep. She then wakes up in her car the next morning, she goes back to the house and that was the beginning of the story.

In honesty I didn't like this concept, it seemed a bit... much, and now that Ava's 16 it was over the top, so I changed the story that Ava is with her father during a thunder storm, when a drunk driver knocked them of the road and they went tumbling down a hill. Her father died and Ava had severe injuries. By chance, Vincent was lurking not to far from where the crash happend. He took the girl, brought her in the house for shelter and healed her wounds the best he could whilst providing heat with his demon form (aka demons can radiate natural heat from themselves)

The next day Ava only caught a small glance of Vincent before he disappeared from the sound of authorities searching for Ava. They found her and were taking her to the hospital, but before they left, Ava caught a quick glance of a figure in the attic window. And the rest is really empty space for now.

i had a dream that time travel was invented and too many people choose to travel back in time to save the titanic from sinking (the question of whether unsinking of the titanic deserved so much attention in the face of human history was the subject of both heavy academic and online discourse), which caused a rift in the space-time-continuum that led to the titanic showing up indiscriminately all over the world’s oceans and sea in various states of sinking.

this caused a lot of issues both in terms of fixing said space-time-continuum and in terms of nautical navigation, and after a long and heavy battle in the international maritime organization it was decided that the bureaucratic burden of dealing with this was to be upon Ireland, much to their dismay. the Irish Government then released an app for all sailors and seafarers so they could report titanic sightings during their journeys, even though they heavily dissuaded you from reporting them given the paperwork it caused.

anyway i woke up with a clear image of the app in my head and needed to recreate it for all of you:

Black tea. I don't usually drink when I'm writing (hydration slips my mind a lot, I know it's bad!), but that's my favorite. Sometimes with milk and three spoonful's of sugar.

18. What trope have you not written yet, but want to?

Hmm. Soul-mates (romantic or platonic, I don't care which) or amnesia.

I think both can be very interesting and compelling, but very difficult to write. Amnesia would be harder and more delicate, but I do strive to try and one day write the tropes that I like so much.

31. Which fic would you most like to see made into a movie?

Enigmatic Confections . Though maybe a part of me is saying that because it's both my longest and most complete fic. I also just love the emotions that I've managed to portray in it. It's one of my favorite pieces of writing and I'm very proud of it, so it would be fun to see.

Though it would probably end up being done as a Hallmark-esque movie, which is not the intention.

i feel like not enough ppl are factoring in the cultural clash between laios and shuro and the many micro agressions shuro faced while being in their group. literally the name 'shuro' in itself is one

his name is toshiro 😭 lets also not forget that he has his own communication issues, in the opposite way that laios does- thats literally a factor in their argument, that his envy for laios's ability to express himself sincerely manifested as part of his distaste for him.

ig all this to say like, was their fight heart wrenching, especially when reading laios as autistic? absolutely. anybody whos ever been in laios's position knows how much it hurts to realize someone you thought was your friend doesnt actually like having you around, especially when they didnt tell you and you had no way of knowing due to not understanding their cues. but im begging yall to step back and see the nuance of this situation cause im gonna be real a lot of you are kinda just brushing over it acting like everything is toshiros fault and that hes a terrible person when in reality hes an average guy who really, really clashed with laios and it led to a very long misunderstanding due to their supremely opposite methods of communication. even laios and toshiro, after letting everything out in their fight, were able to come to an understanding and start a foundation for an actual friendship built on better communication

ok yknow what Edit: i shouldve made it even more explicit at the end of this post, i hadnt thought i would need to since i started the post with this, but i think a few too many people are missing my point so i just wanna clarify. i shouldnt have said 'really clashed' and left it at that because yeah they did, but it wasnt just their opposite methods of communication, it is also very much that toshiro was experiencing microaggressions via laios. it may have been unintentional on laios's part, but it still happened and wore him down, made it harder for him to communicate on top of both the more subtle social cues that he was raised with and his own communication difficulties. i also want to say that the fandom reaction to toshiro and the complete ignorance of this point is also racist tbh or at the very least ignorant. i understand that the anime did not cover this panel, and neither did the manga, as this was an omake, but im gonna be real with you guys. there are enough context clues within the story to clue you into this. if you didnt pick up on it thats ok, but i think this is a good lesson in picking up subtext in the stories that youre watching and/or reading. kui shouldnt have to explicitly say 'by the way laios was racist to toshiro' for this point to be understood, and at the very least, when the author portrays a character in a sympathetic light (as kui clearly does) it should make you question Why they are doing so and what makes them sympathetic, rather than youre immediate and only reaction to be 'well i hated what this guy did/said so i hate them and they suck'. idk exactly how to finish this, just. idk. question your biases and gut reactions to things you see in media and stories, and think about whether or not theres subtext that youre missing.
