I don’t just draw MLP btw!
This is one of my Searvii (a closed species on Instagram) named Ludwigia. This was for a Valentines Day contest to basically win a child. Also the one in the BG is Nyx and she belongs to Silentspectres on Instagram!
I really love my Searvii, need to draw them more 🥺

look at it! I'm so glad I got this ludwigia repens from my LFS. He must have had it in his tank for a good while because it is doing SO WELL. Sometimes when you order plants and they come in they melt or lose a ton of leaves because of the vast difference between the tank they came from and your tank.
The LFS guy uses local tap water, fertilizers and good led lights and no CO2 in his plant tanks (there's a couple that have CO2 but majority dont) and that's pretty much my own setup, so plants that have established themselves in his tanks do well in mine.
And this one is doing SO GOOD. lost maybe one leaf, no rot and it's putting out new leaves. A lot of time stem plants rot where the lead anchor is but this one isn't, which is really cool because that means the stems and roots are healthy a d adjusted.
I'm so happy.

A nutritious bottom promotes growth, but the plant needs pruning to prevent it depriving plants underneath of light.
Echinodorus bleheri does well even in poorly illuminated aquariums, as it grows towards the light. It is a hardy and easy solitary plant for both beginners and the more experienced with quite large aquariums. It has been sold under the name “Paniculatus”. 🌐 animalstuffstore.com —————————- #animalstuffstore #echinodorus #aquarium #anubias #aquascape #aquascaping #plantedtank #plants #cryptocoryne #natureaquarium #aquaticplants #fish #aquariumhobby #bucephalandra #fishtank #plantedaquarium #tetra #paludarium #ludwigia #moss #aquascapeindonesia #aquariumplants #freshwateraquarium #fern #plant #natural #aquariumsofinstagram #aquariumlife #hobby https://www.instagram.com/p/CkDSHxSL1vD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Some very honest State of the Tanks photos. They always look better in person, can’t photograph them to save my life, but the colors are popping. (No color adjustments on these!)
The 40 gallon is growing quickly despite nasty algae that conveniently doesn’t show up that well in photos? Mostly black beard algae/cladophora and green spot, so my fertilizer dosing/CO2 injection needs to be fine tuned. Despite this, the brand new rotala “H’ra” (5th photo) is getting pink/orange/red. I love it! The bucephelandra are also growing despite the algae, they may need a little repositioning to help with that. A good trim of the nearby rotalas will also help the alternanthera reineckii get beefier, but it is holding its own now that it’s got plenty of root tabs. (6th photo)
Maximus’ tank is chugging along slowly but steadily. The bolbitis and bucephelandra keep floating away. That is extremely annoying. Root, damn you! But the hygrophila difformis is back after nearly rotting into oblivion.
I need a more aggressive trim routine…

Scientific Name: Ludwigia octovalvis Common Name(s): Mexican primrose-willow Family: Onagraceae (evening primrose) Life Cycle: Perennial Leaf Retention: Deciduous Habit: Forb USDA L48 Native Status: Native Location: Plano, Texas Season(s): Summer
In spite of its common name, this plant is widely distributed in the world’s warmer regions and is considered native in the southern parts of the U.S. The reddish seed capsules here are about 2″ (50 mm) long, and their size distinguishes L. octovalvis from other Ludwigia species found nearby with similar-looking flowers. The white flowers in the background are swamp smartweed (Persicaria hydropiperoides).

I stopped by the reservoir at White Park yesterday to photograph the rose mallow (Hibiscus moscheutos), sometimes referred to as swamp rose-mallow, which is now at peak bloom. This is a healthy and vigorous wetlands community visited by great blue and little green herons, kingfishers, a variety of ducks, and the occasional osprey - all the more remarkable because it’s within walking distance of downtown Morgantown. Anyway, the rose mallow was fabulously beautiful in its various shades of crimson red, pink, and white, and the hollow Joe Pye weed (Eutrochium fistulosum) was equally impressive, presiding over its wetlands kingdom with the massive lavender crowns of true kings.
From top: rose mallow, whose flowers display high variability in color and petal sizes/orientations (although some specimens may be hybrid escapees, this plant nonetheless possesses some wild genetic impulses); wild mint (Mentha arvensis), a cosmopolitan mint with a strong flavor and an affinity for wetlands; Allegheny monkeyflower (Mimulus ringens), a whimsical perennial that forms dense stands in swamps and along streambanks; seedbox (Ludwigia alternifolia), so named because of the four-sided shape of its seed capsules; and without further adieu, a true king bowed under the weight of its elegant crown.

Most of my plants are committing suicide and I'm not entirely sure why. The new Monstera is doing excellent so I wonder if it's outcompeting everyone?
