Roleplay Is Not Dead Nor Doth It Sleep

There's a post going around about how text-based, freeform roleplay is dead, and I was typing up a huge response to this, with an accompanying guide on how to find roleplayer in 2024, when I realized it might have a bigger reach if I made it its own post. So here's that guide.

I hesitate to say that there isn't a problem with the new format of social media making roleplay more difficult to find, but in the desire to make that point, the OP of the original post has left people with the idea that there's no way for them to get into freeform text roleplay in 2024. Which just isn't true! Here, look at all the ways.

Forums

The link to RPG-Directory to find roleplaying forums is a good start. Once you've found a forum RPG, even if you don't join, there's usually an 'advertising' section on that forum where other forum RPGs post their ads - this may help you to find forums that don't advertise on RPG-D.

Another really good forum to find roleplay on is Barbermonger. Barbermonger is focused on connecting people for one-on-one roleplays.

This last one's going to be weird, but it turns out that there are still people seeking roleplay on the Gaia Online forums after all these years. I think this is delightfully retro and then crowd there seems a little older than average. No pre-existing knowledge of Gaia required.

You can also find forum roleplay groups (as well as tumblr and Discord groups) right here on Tumblr. Usually, the thing to do is to use the search function - search for "[genre] rp" or "[fandom] rp" and sort by "latest." (If you sort by Top, you are likely to find dead RPs.) For example, here's fantasy rp, historical rp, and marvel rp. You can also try jcink rp, as most roleplay forums are hosted on Jcink these days, or discord rp, depending on your favored platform.

There are also tumblr blogs specifically dedicated to advertising roleplays. I'm not super familiar with these nowadays, but just in the process of searching those tags above, I found these:

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE BLACK CHRISTMAS FANDOM

Hello everyone who's been following my writing and art and OC's!! Your support has warmed my heart, and got me through some thought times. Thank you very much for sticking by me, commenting, sending me kudos and asks regarding Dilf Billy and my oc-verse I made around him!

However... I have come to realize I have made Billy, at least the older 45-50 year old version of him my own. Very much my own. I think there's a discrepancy between my characterization of him, and how he is portrayed in the movie/novel/commentary. Another thing is that I love him too much. I want to make him my own, not an interpretation of a pre-existing character...

So that's exactly what I am going to do! I'm taking him and making him an OC. Currently I am in the process if changing up his backstory to make him distinct from Billy Lenz, though the Dilf version we see in Rats in the shadows and partially in So give me coffee and tv will stay similar.

My goal is to create a group of ocs consisting of the character formerly known as Billy, Camille, Bean and other side characters who will exist in a story about an ex serial killer father. I'm still early in the rework, but I feel like I don't have change too much.

What this means I will effectively be distancing myself at least partially from the Black Christmas fandom, at least in terms of my content creation though these past few months I have been in a rut given college preoccupying most of my time. I still love Black Christmas, it will remain one of my favorite movies forever. I cherish the friends I made and the experiences I had, but I want to move on to more original creations, uninhibited by primary existing source materials.

I will still interact with fan works in terms of reblogging art and writing , and I will most likely draw more of Billy Lenz and the other characters from the movie in the future. Anything regarding Camille, Bean, "dilf Billy" though, will be something divorced from Black Christmas, entirely its own thing, though obviously inspired by it.

Will I return to writing for Black Christmas? At this point I am uncertain. I have a WIP of a priest!au thing for Dilf Billy, which if I ever get around to finishing I would post under the pretense that it's a Black Christmas fanwork. However, I am not sure if I will finish it, given that I don't really have the time, and at the moment motivation to really work on it. Another story idea exists too, one which would better fit into the Black Christmas ethos with is very dark tone and heavy subject matter (while still remaining a smut work) which I would gladly have exist as a fanwork.... But once again I am lacking the time and want to do it. It would be a very big project, all things considered.

So what now? I will keep all my Billy Lenz/Dilf Billy content up on my blog, my AO3 will stay intact (though I will forward this announcement onto there), and I won't change my tags on Dilf Billy related posts. Moving forward, though, everything created for my oc inspired by Billy Lenz/Dilf Billy Lenz will be tagged as that. I need to come up with a new name for him first...

I will also make a post regarding how the plot of Rits/Sgmcatv would have went if I'd finished them, to give you guys some sort of conclusion. Though the new oc story with Bean, Camille and the new Billy oc in it will very closely follow Rits original storyline. Most of the events of Rits are canon still in regards to Camille's and Bean's backstory, with of course some caveats (no Brahms, Camille and "Billy" meet differently etc.). But the large majority of the plot points and story beats are the same.

I will be happy to answer any further questions, as my inbox is open. I'm sorry to disappoint anyone, but I've felt the need to move on, to elevate this story. I hope I can be forgiven. Now I bid farewell to this part of my life and creative era, and look forward to the new.

I'm old so I remember fandom pre Tumblr. The days of making character or ship focused livejournal communities. Or fanforum and having your own fandom board or ship thread that you kept alive by renaming each new one with fun quotes about your ship after you reached 300 posts. There was a clear understanding of what was neutral fandom territory and what was not.

The point is is that Tumblr has never been a place that allows for fandoms and shippers to have proper boundaries. And much of the current toxicity in ship wars and character hate are amplified by the forced publicness that Tumblr, Twitter, and TikTok all have. It's not a bad thing to have negative opinions or vent frustrations. But the way that Tumblr puts all the onerousness on you as an individual to curate your experience definitely contributes to more "cross talk" than we used to have in fandoms. It can be done but you'll always have a few things you don't want to see slip through. That is the nature of using this platform. When those boundaries are fluid, so too do the social norms and rules about how to fandom become squishy, and people have a hard time understanding what belongs to them vs what is community space because Tumblr makes it so that it all bleeds together. Your blog is also a part of the community and vice versa.

I highly recommend to find yourself a private space with like minded fandom friends to get your aggression out. And to experience what unencumbered fangirling - both the highs and the lows - without the watchful eyes of others. It's freeing and it is good for the soul. It kind of makes you realize that not everything has to be shared on your blog. Or that you have to tell others how to use their blogs or tags. Because that fight is never going to be won. I haven't ever seen it since I started using this site in 2011, and this has been a part of the discourse in every fandom I've been in since I joined tumblr.

This is sort of an ode to the old internet. It was the wild west but we also had a much easier time making spaces for ourselves that didn't depend on social media or algorithms pushing content at you. The internet was what you made it and so too was fandom. We were less reliant on single websites. We were more dispersed but in some ways that at least allowed us to find the exact home we wanted. That internet doesn't really exist anymore unfortunately and a part of making friends to create your fandom space is having to roll around in the mud of these big platforms.

anything posted before the most recent ask hasn’t been tagged correctly either, iirc i had a brief summary of the group a while ago though, tagged with “nightcord wxs” i think?? cause i didn’t have a name for them yet at the time. not changing it cause i’ve figured out more stuff since then so it’s sort of outdated. there’s probably a few posts lost in the marlo’s stuff tag, though that i didn’t tag properly but it’s okay those rambles are probably somewhere in my google doc.

anyway, since you didn’t rlly specify something in particular i’m probably just gonna ramble about whatever comes to mind. once again under the cut cause i can tell this is probably gonna get a bit long:

hollow ☆ wonderland is an online music group, and their videos are like kikuo style ones. but not necessarily ones like you are a useless child and aishite, more ones like and then you became the moon, welcome to the star inn, don’t look at me in that way, etc. pretty cutesy and happy sounding with a cute art style and then the lyrics tell a pretty dark story. that’s their general vibe. there’s a few songs i associate with them like judas by abuse (like i mentioned before) but i can’t confidently say it’s the kind of music they’d make. maybe that’ll change though we’ll see.

the group is composed of hoshi (tsukasa) the main lyricist, koki (emu), the artist, tako (rui) the animator and eventual co-lyricist, and kurage (nene), the composer.

they’re all silly online friends who like making music videos together and while none of them really talk about their issues pre-main story given that they’re not super close/don’t know each other super well yet, they still enjoy doing this together and care at least a little bit about each other.

i’m still figuring out how exactly the main story goes, but i’ve definitely made more progress now so HOPEFULLY i figure out a coherent story soon. i rlly do want to write a fic for them but don’t get your hopes up too much.

a few basic ideas i do have currently are some stuff like tsukasa, despite also being on his last hopes like the rest of them, is going to be the one to really encourage them all to start theater again. their sekai is a rundown theme park with lots of fireflies around, all the plushies are still there but they’re also worn down and have lots of patches and stuff on them. wonder stage has been closed down already, but it hasn’t been like torn down or replaced with a new attraction or anything. will it make a comeback? will hw be using it? we will see :)

i think the world hasn’t even started yet is still gonna be their untitled too. i’m thinking for their unit fits it’s gonna be something similar to the circus jester set cards? or at least the face paint thing. i’m absolutely giving them the face paint thing. and then there’s some other plot ideas i have but i’m not totally sure about them yet and i dunno how much sense they make on their own so i’m not gonna add them here.

uh. tsukasas name is hoshi since it means star iirc? so obviously he gets that name. koki meant something like to glitter, to shine, and i think emu would have liked that enough to choose it. and i already mentioned why rui and nenes names are what they are 👍

However, I still haven’t finished reading the manga (I’m always working and when I finally have some free time I have no energy to do anything guys, help). Ooff yes, I can absolutely imagine that you feel a little overwhelmed considering how many fics there are for this fandom 🙈 I don't personally have experience with reading fic for smaller fandoms though, except maybe for Evanstan. There are far, far fewer Evanstan than Stucky fics out there, and I would say that my Evanstan to Stucky reading ratio is like 2/98. So when it comes to Evanstan, it should be much less overwhelming! But if you'd like a good place to start, please check out some of these fics, as well as perhaps my own work <3

As for Stucky: there are currently 63,505 works on AO3, so yes, that's a lot 😅

I've made a lot of fic rec posts over the years, including some for people who, like you, were looking for a good introduction to the ship. Here, you'll find links to classic pre-war Stucky fics, and here is a list of some of my personal faves, and here is an additional list of some fandom classics. I think these are a great place to start for someone who's new to the fandom!

Or, if you'd prefer to find your own way from the start like I did: when I started reading Stucky fics, I just sorted them by kudos (highest to lowest), and then scrolled the first few pages of hits until I saw something that seemed like something I'd enjoy! So I would recommend just picking something with lots and lots of kudos that sounds good to you, and then doing that a few more times until you have a clearer idea of the kind of stories you like to read best in this fandom (canon universe or alternate universe, all romance or action packed, enemies to lovers or established relationship, pre-war or post-TWS etc.). Also, please keep in mind that the amount of kudos doesn't always necessarily correspond to the quality of the fic - there are so many incredible fics out there that don't have even a fraction of the kudos some of the more popular fics have, even though imo they're (imo) better! So if something looks good, but it doesn't have that many kudos, just give it a try anyway. You'll most likely discover some of your favourite fics that way! I read both long and short fics, depending on my mood and how much time I have. Both have their merit <3

And then once you know what you like to read, you can use AO3s tag filtering system to find fics that are more specifically tailored to your interests. Another good way to find great fics is by looking at what other Stucky fics the author of a fic you enjoyed has written (or check out their bookmarks!) or use the Stucky Library categories to find stories for specific tropes. They don't update anymore, but there are lots of brilliant older fics to be found that way. As for newer fics, the way I come across those is mostly by following other Stucky/author blogs here on tumblr, who'll post and reblog their own and other people's newer fics.

Most importantly: enjoy, and take your time! These fics aren't going anywhere (though do download your favourites if you think you might like to reread them someday, as sometimes authors delete their works and there's nothing worse than losing a fave </3). And remember that with a fandom this big, you can afford to be picky. So if you start reading something and you're like 'hmm no, I don't actually like this after all', then just move on and find something else to read instead. Not everything is for everyone, and I've been reading fic for this pairing for 5 years now, and I'm still finding new treasures!

Hi im still learning how to use Tumblr and was wondering how themes worked and how to change mine

so, first off, there's a difference between blog theme and mobile theme!

(get onto your desktop to do this, so i can show it to you!)

on mobile, people don't usually have themes because they don't work or look nice, so they have the "default mobile theme". i right now have my mobile theme set to sort of match my real blog theme's colors, but that isn't required! you can make your mobile theme look completely different from your blog theme, and basically have two whole themes if you want.

mobile themes all look the same: only the colors, the header, and the font can be changed. blog themes, though (visible on desktop) can be coded using HTML to look however you want! they can even look like entirely different websites (like, there's one made to look like twitter).

(here’s a picture of how my blog looks on mobile versus how it looks in my actual desktop theme. i’ve made the colors match, but they still are differently shaped sites.)

your posts will still look completely normal on people's dashboards, but if they go to your actual blog it will look like it's own website! (unless you have default theme on, then it will look the same as mobile.)

the way that works is they click on your icon of your normal-looking post-- it will then show a preview of your mobile theme. but, if they click on the link to go to your actual site, it’ll then be your blog theme!

how do themes work? well, it's coding, so it's a little difficult. but usually, people on here post links to themes they've made, and you can go to pastebin or wherever they linked it, copy-paste the theme into your blog's code, and you're done!

if the person who made it added customization, you should also be able to change the colors and photos and things!

obviously, you can make your own theme completely from scratch if you know how to use HTML, but i don't, so i'll just show you how to download a pre-made theme.

here's where i got the one i have now.

as you can see in the post, the creator included a picture of what the theme looks like, some links, and a list of features of the theme. notice that one of the features is color customization! that’s something i wanted, which is why i chose it. at the end of this tutorial, i’ll link some places you can find your own theme! you can also just use mine if you’d like. (and you can always change it later).

first, i clicked on the preview link to get an idea of how the blog actually looked and moved (most theme posts should have one).

then, when i decided i liked it better then the other themes i saw, i clicked on the pastebin link to get the code.

when it takes you to pastebin, you should see this.

click on the “RAW” tag that i circled. it should take you to a white page with only the code in it.

once you’re in that page, highlight and copy the entire thing! all of it!

alright: so you’ve got the theme. now you’ve got to apply it to your blog. here’s how you do that: go to your blog settings, and then click the big button that says BLOG THEME. it should take you to a customization panel for your theme.

at the top of this panel, there’s a link that says EDIT HTML. you want to click that.

this will open a big, scary-looking box of the HTML code for your blog. don’t fret! you don’t need to understand or edit anything in this, usually.

all you need to do is select all the code, and DELETE it. 

once you’ve deleted the code, PASTE the new code that you already copied into it’s spot. you’re REPLACING the default code with the new one.

after you’ve done this, you can save and exit the scary HTML box. but we’re not quite done yet.

if you chose a blog with customization options, all those options will now be available for you to mess with!

you can now change the colors, font, size, and whatever of your theme. 

for example, as you can see by the link i put, the theme i am using is called “cherry blossom” and was originally pale pastel colors! but i’ve switched it to be all dark and neon.

once you’re done changing all the colors, you can save and exit the theme editor. then when you visit your blog, it’ll look all cool!

all done!

now, i’ve given you a tutorial for how to apply blog themes, but not really anywhere to find them! so here’s some places you can look at and choose blog themes:

So if you’ve been following me a while (I say as my blog is only seven months old), you may remember a little wip I introduced here named Patchwork, a new adult novel that dealt with the messy experience that is trying to figure out what it means to be an adult when you’re plunged into the fast-paced adult world of university. That story has always been very close to my heart but it was difficult to progress on because: 

I was working on it whilst going through ~the worst time of my life at university~. My second year was already awful before the pandemic started, and the pandemic just made it worse, and since this story is so inherently connected to my own experiences at university I couldn’t work on it whilst dealing with all of that. I’m currently taking the year off until things calm down and I think it’s the perfect chance to sit back and reflect on those experiences, and I think writing this novel would help

I simply was not ready for it! Drafting Revelations, Revelations has really refreshed my perception on novels because it’s taught me that I suit slow-paced, plot-light, discovery written novels the best and the original plan for this novel was way too plot heavy because I thought that’s what I had to do. But it’s not!

But! Whilst this novel and myself needed a lot of growth before I could think about drafting it, I’m at a point where I do feel ready to return to it. I think drafting Revelations, Revelations especially has given me the confidence I needed because I! Really tried to hard to give a heavy plot to this novel initially and I’ve since realised that I work best with slower novels that are really just a snapshot of people’s lives and their emotional growth. I also am at a point where, whilst I know not being there is the best thing right now, I miss University so so so much and I miss pre-pandemic University like I miss lecture halls and cafes and house parties and library all nighters so much it’s unreal!! This novel is practically a love letter to the year I lost as well as calling out the absolutely awful way the UK government has treated University students both before and during this pandemic. I was actually originally going to set this in the pandemic, because I think there are so many conversations that need to be had about the handling of it in this country but I also don’t think I am Ready for that (and I really just want my characters to be able to go outside lol). I think Camp Nano is the perfect kickstart to actually work on this novel because I now know just need to start writing rather than worry about ~plot~ - my plan is to just pants the fuck out of 15000 words and see where the story goes! I probably won’t return to it until I finish drafting Revelations, Revelations, but I appreciate the chance to get a head start + a little break from RR that I think will be needed by April

The biggest and most important change going into this however is: all three protagonists are autistic! I see a lot of posts about how to write autistic characters on here, but I think I’ve only seen one or two stories that actually had an autistic protagonist (if you have a contemporary and/or literary wip with one please please tag me in it! I really want more autistic rep and I want autistic rep from non autistic people too) and, as an autistic, I decided that I Will Simply Create It. All three characters have their own unique relationship with their autism and I am super excited to have a story that can explicitly navigate that whilst it’s not all the story is about, it is an important element as it shapes how our narrators see the world. And whilst there is anti-autistic sentiment they have to deal with, it’s not at the centre of their narratives or autistic stories. They are just autistic and existing and that’s not always easy but it’s ultimately what makes them who they are and they wouldn’t change it for the world. Being autistic is a wonderful thing! I love being autistic! I also would love to talk more about autistic rep on here (unfortunately relevant thanks to a certain movie): my biggest frustration is that it is SO clear that mainstream autistic rep is not actually for us. It perpetuates harmful ideas and only serves as inspiration porn for neurotypicals. They frame our condition on how it impacts others and don’t consult us or let us tell our own stories and pretend we’re all cis white verbal boys with bad social skills. I am only one autistic person, and I cannot write for everyone in the community (please make sure you are listening to and supporting all sorts of autistic people!), but I hope that telling a story influenced by my own will not only help myself but others - and maybe help out any of you that aren’t autistic and are looking to write autistic rep.

So, straight up: I currently have no plans to watch House of the Dragon. HBO is not getting any of my goddamn money, I don’t trust like that. And hunting down illegal livestreaming sites is a pain in the ass and I regret ever doing it for GoT, as well as regretting getting drunk every weekend enough to dampen my senses to ever tolerate that show. Yeah it’s different showrunners and writers, I know. It’s still (mostly) the same executives at HBO and even if the pervert producer is gone (or is he?), you know they still just want to sell sex and violence and dragons to an audience that thinks fantasy is for geeks.

Also, considering that Fire & Blood’s story of Dance of the Dragons has very little actual narrative or dialogue, and the historical record is deliberately untrustworthy, that gives them pretty much full rein to do whatever they like with the story and characterization and words without even being slightly obliged to GRRM at all. Furthermore, since the story is wholly political with virtually none of the magical side of ASOIAF (excepting dragons), and honestly does not have much in the way of themes or depth that main ASOIAF or even D&E has, I think it will be very hard for an adaptation to show even those brief sparks of quality that used to make me wistful GoT couldn’t be that good all the time and eventually just made me frustrated and depressed. Note I do like the history and characters of the Dance despite myself, despite its many many many textual issues, but I don’t need to see an adaptation, I have a very visual imagination. I don’t watch a lot of television to begin with, I don’t see why I should start again with this.

However, I’m not going to avoid spoilers or discussion, and I’ll probably follow the show the tumblr way, through gifsets and video clips and people bitching on their blogs etc. If, somehow, by some miracle of good screenwriting and acting, the show manages to transcend its source material, I’m sure I will be informed. And then, if and only if then, I may try watching. (Without, of course, giving HBO any of my goddamn money.) We shall see.

(Though I certainly don’t know why anyone in Targ standom would ever watch a Dance adaptation considering almost every Targaryen and everyone else in the story is terrible except Helaena and the kids, and considering how the story ends, unless y’all are gluttons for punishment? (I do not comprehend hatewatching, sorry.) It’ll probably be fun at first to see the adventures of those “precious silver douchebags” (to borrow a friend’s tag), but eventually rocks fall, everyone dies, including the girlboss you know you’ll hope the story will be changed enough that she succeeds. Having seen his audition, having spoken to him and heard him wistfully talk about book scenes he loved, I’m convinced if Rory had only been given Sandor’s actual scenes and such, he would’ve killed it. Sigh. Deep, deep sigh.)

And Rory isn’t the only one. Neither of the actors for Jaime and Cersei were considered “beautiful” enough at first. I recall very clearly people bitching about Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (about his nose particularly?) because they had wanted Tarzan-era Travis Fimmel to be Jaime. (Seeing people bitch because current-Fimmel isn’t playing Daemon made me laugh out loud for both BEYONCE?! meme -type “why would you ever cast him omg he doesn’t fit my headcanon Daemon at all”, and amazing amounts of fandom flashbacks.) Lena Headey was “too square-jawed”, “too mean-looking” (since at the beginning you should never be able to guess she’s evil), “too dark-complected”, “too mannish”, not at all attractive enough. (Tricia Helfer was the most common “but I wanted” for Cersei, btw.) And of course “they don’t remotely look like twins, ugh!” Note, there’s receipts for all of this, none of it is made up. (Unfortunately.) Those two actors are just the ones whose casting wank I recall most clearly, particularly because oh how the turn tables.

Also. You know, there’s a post with Matt Smith and Mark Simonetti’s TWOIAF Daemon going around with shrieks of horror... and I’m finding it maddening in a “am I crazy? am I  the crazy one???” way, because Matt looks like the painting. Their features are not that dissimilar.

Same deepset eyes. Same cheekbones of doom. Same thin lips. Same protruding chin. Same high forehead. Same invsible eyebrows ffs. Matt has a squarer jaw, and a longer more rectangular face, and a wider nose, but considering that Daemon’s features are not described in the text, and this is the only official ASOIAF artwork that shows Daemon’s face straight on, I can for sure see why he was probably shortlisted to begin with. And that’s not even getting into to his role in The Crown, which I’ve heard is very well played with politics and palace intrigue... and if you doubt Smith can play seductive/roguish and/or evil (depending on how you LARP as a Westeros historian), or look good with long hair... well. I do not want to watch the movie, but this trailer is disturbingly enlightening.

And as for Rhaenyra... y’all know this show is starting at the beginning of the story, right? When she’s a teenager? Not a voluptuous MILF? Yeah, Emma D’Arcy doesn’t look like a Magali Villeneueve painting (though who does, good lord), but you know who she does look remarkably like? Harry Lloyd.

Same jawline. Same nose. Same thin lips. Same sharp cheekbones. Notably, same kind of sharp cheekbones and deep-set eyes as Matt Smith. HBO evidently has a concept of a “Targaryen look” that’s a little bit quirkier than supermodel-Greek statue-gods on earth, yeah, fine. But it’s consistent, and they look like family, and that-- that is good casting.

And yeah, in a few months to a year or so, you’ll see them in costume and wigs and makeup, you’ll see them in motion and speaking lines, and go Oh. That’s different. Never mind. And while people will make fanart of the show depictions of the characters and those will probalby get popular, they’ll also keep doing fanart of their pre-show headcanons, and those too will be popular. (God knows when I draw or visualize book!Sandor, Rory does not come to mind, lol.) Either way, there’s no reason to panic. We’ll live.

(Though will we live well? Got to wait on the writing and showrunning for that, alas.)

Chapter 7

 When you emerged from the bathroom Henry was just coming out of the kitchen area, two bottles of water in hand before he opened one and handed it to you;

 “Drink”

 “You don’t need to be. He’s gay. He’s out of the country for nine months of the year. When he is in the country, he’s barely at home with the hours he does”

 “What does he do?”

 “Paparazzi photographer. He’ll be here for a few months in the springtime… when it’s warm enough for celebs to be here for holidays and shopping. Usually starts with the Brit awards in February and is gone by May”

 “Where does he sleep?”

 “In his room of course”

 “His… room?”

 You stood, getting frustrated at the points Henry was focusing on;

 “Yes, his room. The door off the right of the living room. That’s his room”

 “Oh”

 That was it. He didn’t say another word, instead just looked down at his hands. And it annoyed you. This man, this gorgeous, kind, caring man, the same man you had thought of and nothing else for the past few weeks, who had been your knight in shining armour, was suddenly focusing on such a small detail of your life and becoming jealous of it? The longer you looked at him the longer he kept his gaze averted, saying nothing.

 You’d stayed long enough, silently you turned, the lump in your throat growing as you walked away, tossing the remains of your drink in the nearest bin. You didn’t look back. If he was going to be like that over something so tiny, perhaps you’d fallen too hard for him.
