Short introduction, Rules and Fandom List

Hello all, My name is Luna, or Ki or Ohara; whichever you may prefer to call me. I am a multi-ship; multi fandom roleplayer thats fairly new to the world of Tumblr roleplaying. BEen at the roleplaying game for a few years so I do have experience. I will try and keep this short so we can get to the fun bits, haha I gladly double/triple and play whoever you may want for your muse in return for my chosen favorites. As I myself am in my 20s+ I much prefer to have a partner of at least 17+ However, if we truly click or it's a fandom that's- shall we say on the rare side {Example being; Yugioh, Shadow and Bone, etc} I may be willing to make an exception to this rule. 

IV. RULE : Triggers & such are to be discussed. Personally I only have a few; the whole ‘Daddy’ thing, and a few others we shall discuss in more detail…

VII. RULE : I have more than a few platforms I am able to go over; though my main preference would be Discord if we move offsite; I also have google Docs, Email, Skype, and Telegram.

looking for a roleplay partner !

hi everyone! im looking for an 18+ (hopefully long term) role play partner to rp with on discord. im 21, use they/he pronouns and im a more literate roleplayer (my grammar/punctuation is much better when writing than in posting i promise) but am flexible in the length of responses, depending on the story’s situation. im open to rping nsfw, but not when minor characters are involved, even aged up.

im looking to roleplay for demon slayer, as the url of the blog suggests. my biggest wish would be to roleplay rengiyuu (rengoku/tomioka), but id also be down for uzuren (tengen/rengoku) or inotan (inosuke/tanjiro).

I curse this fate and the world that took you away from me...

Dunya could still remember the day her world was turned upside down against her will. The scream of her father as he was being murdered by the  Magnostadt's students who began a revolt were still loud in her head. She was just a kid and yet they thought she had to die? The little girl couldn’t understand what was going on or why the people where after her, but she knew enough to know that it didn’t look too good for her. They were going to kill her just like they did her father and there wasn’t anything she could do to stop them. 

Isaac acted fast and didn’t hesitate to take her shaking hand in his as he pulled her along in an attempt to save her life. He had always been there for her as her knight and as her family, but she didn’t want him getting hurt because of her. Dunya didn’t want to lose the only person she cared for all because she was apart of the royal family. Things would have worked out better if he had just run away and left her behind to die along with the others. Though she thought this she couldn’t help but stare at his back as they ran with a small shimmer of hope in her eyes.

Everything would be alright as long as they were together. Even if they both died Dunya wouldn’t have been angry because at least she wasn’t alone. She had someone she loved deeply by her side. 

People were cruel. The world didn’t deserve Issac and his kind nature. Those magicians took everything away from her and what for? Because of something so silly as fate? If that’s what fate was then she cursed fate. If she were fated to die by the hands of such filth then she would have been dead already and yet she was given a second chance and she wasn’t about to waste it. If Al-Thamen was going to give her the power she needed for her revenge than she would take the chance given to her and carry out whatever orders they had for her. Anything if it meant completely destroying the ones who took her Issac away from her.

Dunya’s face showed her anger the more and more she thought about the events of that day. Her eyes finally scanned the area before her blue hues landed on Issac’s back. It was different than back when she was a child. Looking at him now she didn’t feel the same warmth she felt from him before nor did she feel the same sense of security. He wasn’t the Issac she grew up with from before, but he was all she had. 

She took in a deep breath before walking ahead of the black haired male. “Let’s go, Issac. We have work to do.” Issac was dead and without her magic she would lose him all over again. This time around she wasn’t going to watch him die. 

Not again.

Je n’ai aucune idée si mon récent contenu a amené quelques intéressés de Danganronpa français (le truc rare mais possible), je pense que ça sera un peu jeter une pierre dans l’eau qui va couler, loin, loin, loiiiinnnnn... mais je le tente. J’ai probablement, peut-être, déjà fais de la pub dessus sur tumblr, mais là comme ça ça me revient pas.

(si vous êtes un follower français/québécois qui ne s’intéresse pas à Danganronpa mais que vous faites du rp quand même, restez deux min svp merci bisou)

Je fais de la PUB. (oops) C’est plus dans une tentative désespérée de choper des roleplayers intéressés pour éventuellement jouer des persos de Danganronpa, mais voilà : je vous présente Ilukaan (y’a un lien, juste là-), un forum RPG (qui l’eut cru) multifandom planté dans le lore d’Harry Potter en 2021. Le contexte est simple : Ilukaan est une école de magie moderne internationale, sur une île canadienne, et vous pouvez y jouer des OCs comme des persos canons (limités aux mangas/animes jeux, films d’animations, romans, dessins-animés). On y fait du RP-post bien sûr mais aussi BEAUCOUP de RP Chatbox qui se joue en temps réel.

Si ça vous intéresse, vous pouvez toujours aller checker l’annexe des persos déjà joués, mais moi perso je recherche (désespérément) le DR crew. Nous sommes trois personnages de Danganronpa actuellement joués sur le forum (Hajime, Nagito et Kokichi) et si je veux être encore plus égoïste, j’en appelle même à ceux qui ont un coup de coeur pour le cast de DR2 (Kazuichi, Sonia, Chiaki, Fuyuhiko, Gundham, OU ETES-VOUS ?), mais rien ne vous empêche bien sûr de jouer un autre perso de la franchise... si vous êtes dedans.

Autrement, le forum est ouvert à tous les autres personnages canon en général, j’espère au moins pouvoir en attirer un ou deux avec cette pierre jetée dans le lac !

Oohohohohho!!! I have a few things! Every fandom has it’s rotten tendencies and what bothers me is that these tendencies are always similar. But I’d say that a popular thing I will always dislike about the fandom is that even, after all these years, there are still people who vague blog and talk behind each other backs instead of just stepping their pussy up and talking to a bish. Yes, it bothers me because I find it to be such a lack of respect for a fellow roleplayer. If you can talk about a person behind their back you can damn well come through, Mary, and spill the TEA to their face! Hopefully, we’re all civilized people who can talk things out.

No problem! I'll give you the roleplay blog 101~ this is going to get long, sorry.

One thing I want to say before I get going is Anyone can send asks Anytime to that blog! I LOVE asks lol.

First I'll explain what a faceclaim is for you! A faceclaim is a character that looks like your muse (the character or OC you're roleplaying) so you can use little pictures of them (called icons) in posts instead of have to draw out your OC. Canon characters have it easy, they don't have to spend forever finding a faceclaim *eyeroll emoji*

Next is a starter! A starter is a post written to start a roleplay. It can be anywhere from a sentence to multiple paragraphs long!

Rules are very important to tumblr roleplayers! almost every tumblr rp blog i've seen has some guidelines for interactions!

Some general RP rules that the majority of the community agrees on are:

- don't rb roleplays you're not a part of

- don't rb headcanon posts without permission

- always read rules, if they exist, before following!

Some terms used in my rules:

Godmodding: Controlling your character without your consent. (say you write "Asu punched X character" and I didn't give the go-ahead) Also somewhat applies to auto-hitting

Reblog karma is if I rb an ask meme, and you reblog it from me and i practice reblog karma, you'd have to send something from the ask meme or i'd be mad at you. I don't practice it, so anyone can reblog any ask memes from me without worry.

My last rule (I don't interact with blogs that don't have rules/abouts) Is SUPER lenient. I DO Interact with blogs without either, I'm just cautious about it. I need to fix that rule to explain that better, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Of witches and magicians - The types and history of magic users

Hey there, traveler!

Our journey through time and space continues exploring the various elements of magic, moving on to the experts, the humble craftsmen of the mystic art: the magicians. Or wizards. Or enchanters. Too many names? Don’t be afraid, I was just as confused as you are. But today we will look at all the types, the real-life inspiration, and some literary representation. So strap on, put on your “Hide Helmet of Resist Magic” because the show is on.

First, let’s lay down some basic. As we discussed in last week’s Dissecting Literature, the English word “magic” and consequently “magician” comes from ancient Greek and Persian languages. The original mages, or “magi” were most likely Persian noblemen with supposed magical power, but the meaning of the word dissipated over the many centuries. 

As far as I could research, there’s no solid consensus among roleplayers and fantasy geeks about what word used to describe a magic-user actually means and each piece of fiction takes its own twist on it, but here are the most common labels.

A mage is an experienced magic-user. You could call them the groundwork for every other type, they are specialized, trained people who wield magic as a profession. The word “mage” is the anglicized version of the Greek “magi”, so this is the purest surviving meaning of the old concept. A magician, however, is wildly believed to be a botch, a barely skilled caster who uses magic for tricks and entertainment. They are the street performers getting people’s attention with really flashy illusions but in most fiction, they don’t really wield serious powers. Wizards differ from mages mostly in reputation. A wizard in most literature is held as a wise leader and a powerful mage, giving you either good advice or a magical ass-whooping, depending on their allegiance. The oldest example is possibly Merlin, the great wizard aiding King Arthur in his endeavors, but you can think of Dumbledore or Gandalf for a more familiar representation. Witches were originally the female counterparts of wizards, however because of characters like the Baba Yaga, Morgan le Fay, and the general rejection of magic by Christianity, the witch transformed into a malicious spellcaster hell-bent on screwing with people, casting curses and creating poisons. Enchanters and enchantresses are mages primarily focusing their effort on enchanting (duh), seducing pure of heart heroes, and deterring them from their quest. An enchantress is nearly always a beautiful woman living in a far-off location trying to get the hero to stay with them. One great example of this trope is from the Greek epic Odyssey, namely the goddess Circe. 

Other then these, there are more specialized magic-users, like warlocks, necromancers, druids, and such, but we would be sitting here all day talking about the various versions. I’d recommend hitting up a few DnD resources or fantasy games and you can get a fairly good idea of how many colors the magician spectrum has. Now that we went over what we exactly mean as a magician, where did this come from? Let’s talk history. Don’t worry, I’ll be brief.

During mankind’s social evolution, there was always a representation of Raistlin and Karamon’s duo of wizard-barbarian. Our cave-dwelling ancestors realized that although clobbering a sabertooth tiger over the head was a great feat of strength, even the mightiest warrior couldn’t survive infection or a lightning strike, and as such, there was a market gap for a wiser role in society – that was the shaman.

At first, shaman were both spiritual leaders, magic-users, and medicine-men. They knew about the beneficial herbs, the weather and such, but they were also a connection to the invisible forces like spirits and gods. They used rituals to communicate with the magic world, which they believed was as real as the ground they were walking on. At this point in time, religion and magic intertwined and were inseparable. For many millennia, priests were believed to wield magical power gifted by the gods, and people attributed many inexplicable feats to this power. That’s how Imhotep, the chief architect and main healer of the Egyptian Pharaoh Djoser ended up from a craftsman to a magician and in the end, a god.

This supportive role stayed for many of our history, although it faded and magic sometimes fell out of the equation. In ancient Greece, philosophy was born and science started flourishing, so scientists took the role of wise men from the priesthoods. There was even a competition in medical schools, some following the rational ways of Hippocrates, others sticking to the more divine and magical ways of Asclepios, god of healing and son of Apollon. This slow but steady shift from magic to science almost eradicated the magicians from society. So why does it have such a huge fandom nowadays? Why are there books like Harry Potter, Dragonlance and the rest? 

In my theory, it is a power fantasy. In teenage society, physical prowess means popularity – excelling in sports, looking dashing and dousing three liters of vodka without pushing your liver to suicide. The physically less fit boys and girls find it hard to win over their stronger, more attractive, or more outgoing classmates, so at least in fantasy, they need something that can lift them above the crowd. And here comes magic, a powerful force only usable with sharp mind and creativity that can shred a thousand jocks to pieces and save the world. No matter how strong someone is, magic doesn’t care for physique. Sometimes this parallel is more obvious, like in Harry Potter where the setting is literally a high school, sometimes a bit more hidden like in sword & sorcery fantasy stories with a magic-user lead character. I think that’s it for now. Sorry if it was a bit digressive and confusing, my exam period is taking a toll on me. Next week we’ll move onto some of my favorite magic systems, including books, TV shows and games, and I might even pitch an original idea for it, so stay tuned! I translated until chapter 82 so far! But I will do everything including the extras (yes, Incence - Burner too). 

First I have to say: I am not a professional translator but I’m translating fanfiction from english to german as a hobby since 15 years. My english language level is “only” B2 at the moment (according to the official CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), but i am taking lessons to improve and if I’m ready I will do the Cambridge Certificate because my goal is to publish my own novel in english. 

I translat the one and only completed english fan-translation that everyone knows and appriciates, despite some undeniable mistakes. 

Yes, I am just a chinese beginner but i can use some helping tools like university/scientific literatur and stuff so I can research cultural things I am not familiar with. 

BUT: I am aiming at german readers, so I prioritize the german reading flow and reading habits!!! 

For that I created a few new german words in order to describe all the cultivation terms properly: for example the word “cultivation“ itself is a problem: the german “Kultivierung” means originally “Anbau” which means you go planting seeds into the ground. You can describe a person as “kultiviert”, but that means the person is sophisticated. You can say in german “Man kultiviert seine Bildung” but that  literally means that you are refine/improve your education/manners. But you don’t use this expression to describe some magical refining techniques to use life energy (the qui or ki in japanese) to perform your sword skills or doing the yang or the yin path. So i created the term “Daomagie”. It’s a fusion of the german word “Daoismus” (it depends on the transcription if it’s Dao-ism or Tao-ism! I decided to use the ’D’ 6) and magic (=Magie). 

See? Translating is very, very hard. 

Then another point: 

To describe the ghost path WWX is cultivating: do i use the german word Gespenst (en: ghost, specter), Geist (en: spirit, phantom), Teufel (en: devil, demon) or Dämon (the one you can exorcise, the classicle demon that posses a human etc)? That was so hard to decide!  I decided to use the german Dämon in the end because the term is more flexible and nooo, the devil is the christian thing NOT the demon, so in regards to diverse religious believes and such: the word demon is from ancient greek daimon and means “the spirit/soul of a deceased that has no body” (a shadow so to speak), so you can best translate Wei Wuxian as “Großmeister des dämonischen Pfades” in german.  

Then the next: Is Wei Wuxian a master, a founder, or an magical ancester? The english term master can mean either “Herr” or “Meister” in german. My fan-translated english novel text lest Xue Yang mention that WWX is in his point of view indeed  the grandmaster of the ghost path (but he is the only one in the whole story!!! And we have one hell of an unreliable narrator:-)!). A founder means in german “Begründer” or “Pionier” and usually you mean, that a person is the first one who does a certain thing no one else has done. So i was stucked: should i take “Meister” or “Begründer/Gründer” because both terms make sense!!! But then i looked closer: if you take the whole development of WWX until the end he is both, a “Meister” and “Begründer. So my decision was based on a very trivial matter. “Meister” sounds so much cooler as “Begründer/Gründer”. And then i thought in regards to my german readers: hey, but they don’t want to read about a normal “Meister”, they want some special “Meister” and so i decided to take a very common roleplayer thing, so the german readers could emphasize with: “Großmeister”, but this title is not just fantasy: it is the highest rang among chess players for example, or the title of a freemasonary or much more important:in ancient china (Zhou dynasty) there were the Three Excellencies (and the Grand Master was the senior-most of the top three civil positions!!!): known as Grand Preceptor = referredto as Grand Master, Grand Tutor and Grand Protector....now go and read the novel again after you thought about this:-))!! 

The consequences: I don’t do word-for-word-translation! I translate more situations and context so that a german reader can follow the plot even when they know nothing about Wuxia, Xianxia and all those special genre of chinese fantasy literature. I didn’t translate the names either despite it is possible: Wei Wuxian means literally “Der-kleine-Geisterjunge-ohne-Reue/Neid” (=literally  the “Little-ghostboy-without-envies”. Sorry, but this is not readible in german!! You can do this one time, but imagine i would name him everytime his name is dropped!! It’s not possible, so all the characters have their names: Wei Wuxian/ Wei Ying, Lan Wangji/Lan Zhan, Lan SiZhui/A-Yuan etc.

In regards to Lan Wangji’s speaking style i could write a whole essay about it, because it’s so, so good and i try very, very hard to do him justice. Believe me, his shortness is NOT the problem in german!! The problem is always the double, or triple meaning etc. You have to nail the context and the situation down. I will give my best until the end! Once i’ m done with the main story (Ch. 113), i will revise my complete translation again to correct mistakes. 

In regards to the almost non existent R18 content in the novel: i don’t discuss the extras. I love the incense burner, don’t come to me if you’ve got a problem with thisone or two EXTRAS, i will not discuss it, because mxtx wrote these unbelievable good scenes, so i  translate them. Period. The only critical thing is the english wording of the fan-translation, don’t fret i will keep that in mind! I will not discuss the bath tube-scene: it’s great, it’ s sexy and you can’t convince me that you didn’t realize Lan Wangji was sober... don’t try to convince me otherwise, read the scene again until you get it. Hint: It’s in his speaking patterns:-))! (And I hope i will nail that down:-)!)

By the way: I will translate the audio drama of Modaozushi too. This translation i will post here on my tumblr or my linked blog.
