Little shifts, big impacts

This is why I started this Tumblr. I want to post daily about the things I'm doing both for myself and for others who are trying to do the same thing. But I don't want to swamp my blog with them, hence a Tumblr.

It's interesting to stop and notice the differences already happening in my life. I haven't done any replacing of anything with plant-based items yet. I'm just trying to use what I do have here already better. Granted, I did go buy peanuts the other day but that's more because I really wanted peanut butter for my apples.

Actually, no. I'm not going to dismiss that. That was a purchase I made to support this journey. I had bought the apples before deciding to make this shift. Having the option to put peanut butter on them makes them more appealing.

It's little things like that which I'm noticing. It's little things like that which make this shift a little easier. It's not that I'm adding new things into my diet. It's that I'm making choices that are less processed and plant-based.

For example, the last couple of days I've been choosing to have an apple in the afternoon. It sounds good. While I am still having turkey and cheese and mayo on my sandwiches, I'm choosing less processed foods and less sugary foods outside of meals. I'm drinking more water and less Pepsi. Granted, I usually had 1 Pepsi a day with dinner, but I haven't felt like having one lately.

And it's not that I'm not allowing myself to have one if I want it. It's that I don't want it. I think that's the important thing for me to keep in mind during all of this. It's not about denying things. It's about trying to go for those plant-based options.

I really am looking forward to finding plant-based options to replace the cheese and turkey in my sandwiches; trying out different recipes for lunch when I'm home; increasing the plant-based foods for dinners that I share with my husband. He has said before he really doesn't want to give up his meat or his cheese or other animal products. I'm not going to make him. But I can try to increase the plants on our plates and reduce the processed foods there at the same time.

I'll be honest, I'm probably never going to go vegan. But I think I can do plant-based.

Let it be known that none of them actually expected the idiots’ of the week’s ritual to work. The summoning hadn’t worked for literal centuries- everyone knew it had been sealed away, presumably forever!

(Of course they had no way to know that in the Infinite Realms actually used the term forever as a measurement of time, what with how time itself wasn’t particularly linear within. And to beings that could hypothetically live for eternity? Forever was a nice vacation time really) 

So maybe they hadn’t been exactly focused on stopping the ritual as much as they could of been, and by the time they realized it was working, well, it’d been a bit too late then. So yes, mistakes had perhaps in fact, been made. 

First had come the chill, the cold of the ground as your body was lowered down, the cold of your blood dripping from your living corpse. Then came the shadows, the darkness creeping along their vision as their soul slipped from their body. Followed by boiling heat, flames scorching through their flesh and tearing from their chests like a blade piercing their hearts. 

The form that emerged was massive, a cloak dripping crimson fluttering in the wind of an unseen battlefield, verdant flames licking at the air and causing the surrounding shadows to writhe. A dark growl echoed through the building, the stone below them shaking while deathly green eyes glowered down at the living with utter contempt.

i was trying to fall asleep but i kept thinking that the funniest part of obx is how they visibly do nothing for drew’s sex appeal and infact do their absolute best to portray rafe as a weird, sad loser and yet ppl still refute the fact that rafe is a cringe psycho crybaby simply because drew is too hot for unflattering outfits and an embarrassing character to put it off in even the slightest of ways.

read the green bone saga this week and i’m just saying. if you want an in-depth political fantasy mafia thriller (yes all of those words apply) set in a post colonial nation that is navigating an unsure global political position and the potential exploitation of its culturally significant resource that simultaneously explores the bonds between family and how they can take different shapes in the wake of loss and love and life, with brilliantly developed, fleshed out characters and realistic pacing (both in world and in the actual delivery of the story). i HIGHLY recommend.

Another work inspired by @corruptimles' Miku All Weeku: The Hatsune Menu! This one is inspired by the popular Greek dessert, baklava! Made of phyllo pastry, honey and chopped nuts, it's an intensely sweet treat that pairs well with bitter coffee.

Fanfic prompt: Vio travels back in time to the moment shadow tried to recruit him to the side of darkness

And joins this time around with the intention to win him over at all costs and with all means necessary so that the other doesn’t have to die again

He will do everything to prevent it this time

The second he joins he immediately starts to aggressively push at shadow with any and all things he can to make him switch sides

Even straight up flirting (he is desperate enough to do anything by that point)

But shadow with his single overworked braincell is incredibly dense and it flies all over his head except that Vio obviously wants to be friends with him

Vaati at the other hand is creeped out to hell and back as in fully disgusted and disturbed by Vio

Like that is just messed up

He is so uncomfortable by it that he tries to shield shadow from him (because shadow is his and ganondorf's weird magic baby/thrall/demon/ thing and nobody else should be allowed to look at his property like this)

Because what the heck is that supposed to be

(The second Vio found out he got worse on purpose just to piss him off)

And he can’t even kick him out because it is a weak reason for getting rid of a useful player

Shadow finally gets some form of affection in this timeline (good for him bad for Vaati and Vio because they are both fighting about shadow by this point)

Vaati decides against sending Shadow anywhere alone with Vio

Vio tries hard to convince him (as in nearly begging him because he needs to keep the timeline predictable )

It somehow makes him even more uncomfortable with shadow being anywhere near him

Vio then just straight up starts begging him on his knees and everything

After the most uncomfortable hours in his entire life he agreed (but he definitely will be breathing down his neck because that was just unsettling)

When the confrontation happens between Vio and the colors at the fire temple

He doesn’t tell the lie of how he understood darkness or something he just straight up tells them that he went because of shadow

The colors are concerned

The colors are also weirded out by the way Vio acts because from what they remember Link never was a degenerate

So why is Vio so obsessed and unsettling about literally everything (he has decided to troll everyone and also can’t change his role on the whim because Vaati is probably watching him )

It ends up interesting to say the least
