Gender
This is a little story about gender and the biases that people have. I identify as female and work in a male-dominated industry. I've constantly been compared to the men in my field and feel like I need to prove myself every time I have the chance.
I remember one of my teachers, someone who was supposed to support me, telling me that I needed to go find a boy to help me carry something. I looked him straight in the eye and picked up two of the things I supposedly needed help with. Why is it that as a woman I am constantly being undervalued and underestimated? One of my bosses had told me that I was lucky that he let me be where I was because when he was my age, women were only doing the easy small jobs.
It's not just in my line of work, it is in my everyday life too. I was working on a wood project with my dad and me being inexperienced, messed up a few of the screws. Someone I knew at the time looked at me and said "Well you're a girl, of course, you would mess it up. This is a man's job." I tried to just laugh it off, not even understanding how to defend myself or why they said that in the first place. It takes a lot to make me angry and that night I was furious. I remember crying to my parents about how upset I was. My gender has nothing to do with my abilities and skills as a person.
My gender has nothing to do with my skills and abilities.

I've been wondering about why I'm so bothered about the music industry being so male-dominated even today and I realised: It's because it makes it look like women are less musically talented than men are. I mean, the majority of female pop groups and solo artists have their music written for them by men, they're just the ones performing it. A lot of bands with female singers have no other female members, and the singers don't usually play their own instruments. That's not to say that women who only sing or perform songs written for them should be looked down on, I just wish there was more representation for all kinds of skills in music and performance.

Listening to women right now is very important. We are witnessing other women step forward and speak about their experiences with Wilbur. As men, we need to be listening, because it's never just one woman.
However, we also must not forget the value of our voices. We as men need to step up and say that this behavior is unacceptable. We need to talk about it. We need to call out our friends and our brothers for this behavior.
Men that hurt women will not listen to women, but they will listen to men. If we truly want to support women right now, we need to be vocal about our support. We need to show up and acknowledge the reality—Shubble is not the only woman that has experienced this kind of abuse.
There are many women in our personal lives that experience this abuse. Abusers could be our closest friends, family, mentors, and leaders. We cannot let our guard down. We cannot sacrifice our morals to keep the peace. We must remain vocal. This behavior cannot be socially acceptable.
We say that we support women. We say that we will support domestic violence survivors. But when the abuse is staring you in the eyes, we remain complacent. This is not acceptable.

one thing that gets me about the barbie movie is like. they have a scene where the women who played with barbie honestly don’t remember her name was explaining barbie who cares if this guy likes you he stole ur home ruined barbie land and is awful and barbie’s like oh right fuck him i don’t need to comfort him or worry about his feelings then immediately comforted him and walked him through his feelings
#personal#why was there so much ken. it was so ken focused like barbie felt like a secondary character in her own movie#everything about the barbie movie annoys me like. the insane amount of pseudo intellectual talk about it being a reverse genesis#how this is a girl movie for the girls about girls (about men)#all that diversity and for what? and not to say having diversity without really acknowledging it is bad#i like when diversity is natural and accepted as normal and just allowed to be#but it was such a part of the marketing and for what? for what#i get mattel wasnt gonna make mattel actually evil so when i say how cartoonishly evil they were was expected but still annoying#especially with holding NO punches back on the misogyny from men in the movie#like yes i’m painfully aware of it but it felt so aggressive for a movie. about dolls. that little girls play with#then nothing being done about male dominated space in the mattel industry other than president barbie being like we’re gonna change that#but not really?#like it’s such a nothing movie#it’s just nothing#and i wish it had the balls to be sincere#just practically tripping over itself to say GOTCHA to any complaints people may have about barbie it’s just painfully unconfident#and the daughter character was annoying full stop also that line where she’s like mom ur crazy and weird and i like it no one here earned#that and i just can’t get over how fucking man focused this movie is#like ken was such a huge part SUCH a huge part#gg n i went to hot topic and we saw barbie stuff and i love complaining about it with her#and it’s such a white feminist movie like all this diversity and it’s just. so nothing and so plain#and what was i made for has personally ruined my life i hate that song#charlie xcxs song does go hard i am not deaf

Ok but Omega in the scene when they first found the Zillo beast
She was shaking, she was terrified
She still was steady enough to draw and fire her bow
They’re turning her into a soldier like them
I dunno why but it makes me kinda happy that like
They’re a family teaching her to protect herself and keep a level head
But they’re still trying to let her be a kid
Like don’t get me wrong their parenting skills are abismal
But they are still teaching her what they know
And not like treating her like a porcelain doll that can’t do anything
I think that’s neat

Ok so we got knives as the company Christmas present this year and everyone is standing around in the elevator lobby and the foreman goes ".... knife fight?" And then we get in the elevator and someone else says "... ELEVATOR knife fight?"
We go up a floor then pick up other guys, and one of them goes "knife fight in the parking garage?"
Good to know everyone's on the same wavelength

You ever want to grab someone by the shoulders but also not because you don't want to initiate physical contact or get anywhere close to them and say,
"In what part of your teensy shit brain did you think it was fine to call a complete stranger "beautiful blonde" in a professional environment when they were only doing their job???? And should I mention that they are very clearly in the low half of their twenties, and you are probably scratching 60?????"

🥷🌞😘
Thanks, dearie!
🥷 - Tell me a secret.
Um, I worked as a stripper in my early 20s. I retired when I very dramatically threw my patent leather platform heels into the river. (Sorry, I know - bad for the environment. Forgive me!) The guy I was dating at the time was in a band, and they wrote a song about it.
🌞 - Tell me about your worst sunburn. (Reminder to wear sunscreen!)
I went to Sanibel Island with my best friend in middle school and her mom forgot to reapply sunscreen. We were at the beach the entire day, but I was in SO much pain for the following week. I shed multiple layers of skin, I swear.
😘 - So, do you have a crush on anyone? (Friend crush or romantic crushes are fine.) Besides you? 😆 Yes, I definitely have some friend crushes but I'm too shy to share.
