Was rereading some of your Sonic loreposts of obscure and strange characters, and I have to ask: what's Snively's deal? I remember him being teased as the new BBEG in SatAM (which got cancelled) but what happens to him in the comics?

oh yeah snively is around for archie sonic's entire 24 year run! he's still robotnik's nephew and right-hand man in the comics, but since archie is so long their relationship fluctuates quite a lot. there's too much for me to feasibly cover in a lorepost, especially since snively's role in the comics is actually fairly important. there's not a whole lot of lore under the cut but there are some spoilers for archie sonic so heads up

snively's ultimate goal, similar to robotnik, is to have his own empire and rule the world. however, his method of achieving that goal normally means teaming up with the side that's more likely to give him the upper hand. usually this means being robotnik's lackey, but there are a few times where he works with the freedom fighters or other mobian groups. his most important ally is probably the iron queen when he works alongside the iron dominion, because the two of them actually have a fairly important romance subplot? basically they meet on discord and snively helps his gamer gf take over the eggman empire and they eventually fall in actual love i guess

the eggman empire eventually returns, and snively's fate before the reboot is... surprisingly tragic? eggman supposedly lets the iron queen and snively reunite to serve as part of his empire, but in reality he reunited the queen with a false robotic version of snively. the real snively is imprisoned and left to rot under the eggman empire.

and that's the last we see of him before the universe resets!!! hoo boy!!

snively doesn't do as much in the reboot - he works as a GUN scientist and is still in world conquest mode, and he attempts to persuade team dark to bring him the master emerald. also he has a beard now.

but yeah snively has quite an important role in archie as a secondary villain of sorts. he never achieves his goal of becoming the ultimate big bad or having his own empire, but they do flesh him out quite a bit and give him some interesting moments later down the line

My girl is a mystic through and through but she is not mystically inclined. She could tear out her hair and make a deal with the devil, and still not be able to conjure her own magic at all, but she is so well versed in it, you’d think she was a sorcerer or something. I'm not going to lie: two of these answers came to me so quickly, it was brutal. I'll let you guess which ones.

Kira:

Firstly, let me explain that I am a firm believer in plants feeding off of the energy of their surroundings. There are studies that suggest they respond better to certain types of music (much like cows and chickens).

Now, I fully accept that my adoption of these 'studies' is probably wholly down to my personal confirmation bias (I am a pagan hedge witch, after all), and that Mr GF (The Scientist) would strongly dispute the 'evidence' and The Science behind them.

The point is that Kira Izuru, bless him, tries so hard to be a good plant parent, but any live flora unfortunate enough to end up in his care will inevitably die a slow, withering death, growing pale and sickly, until its straggly, weedy limbs give up the ghost for good.

The first time this happened to his kitchen herbs, Kira was frantic. Just what had he done wrong? He tried again, this time keeping the plants beside the window for full sunlight and following a strict watering regimen.

The mint's leaves curled, turned brown and crispy and fell off. The coriander turned pale yellow and droopy. They died.

Someone bought him an orchid. It flowered for a single season before the blooms fell off. The leaves turned yellow, and it developed these weird, squishy, brown tendrils. He cut them off*. It also died.

He does, however, have a cast iron window box of marigolds just below his office window, and they positively thrive. Whether this is because his work schedule leaves him little time to drown them like his houseplants, or because they enjoy their mascot status remains unknown.

Or maybe it's simply because marigolds symbolise despair and grief and Kira's aura of depression gives them the perfect spiritual sustenance.

I know what I'm putting my money on.

VERDICT: Do not employ Kira Izuru to babysit your plants when you go on holiday. They will never recover.

Hinamori:

Make no mistake, Hinamori Momo loves all small, cute things, but the day she discovered tamarins and marmosets whilst perusing the many dark recesses of the academy library was almost certainly a highlight of her school career.

There's the Emperor Tamarin.

Just look at his majestic moustache! And those tiny, little ears! And his little snub nose! He's adorable and magnificent.

She also has a newly developing soft spot for kangaroos. They kind of remind her of Shinji: dorky looking, but also liable to fuck shit up.

Anyway, hopefully one day she'll be able to live out her dream and start a piece documenting her travels to far flung places in the Living World and the animals she finds there for The Seireitei Communication. Will Shinji want in on this? Absolutely. Will he attempt a David Attenborough-style voice-over? Yes. Will he don a cork slouch hat? Do I really need to answer that?

I'd just like to iterate that Hisagi Shūhei is a complete disaster in almost every respect. This man should not be allowed near a kitchen in any capacity.

He's the kind of person who would confuse salt for sugar; plain flour for self-raising; he'd use margarine instead of butter because it's cheaper. Everything would also carry a hint of engine oil.

Look, if he could cook, he wouldn't ever feel the need to demean himself by scrounging scraps from Ōmaeda's table.

okay okay okay, so the re2 remake did damage to me in my junior year of high school<33 so i have a generic re2 au w chryzure,,,, not bc i ship leon and claire bc.. icky, but i do think it tracks that chrysi and azure would only go through the events of that game after having a heartfelt conversation in the rain on opposite sides of a chain link fence… they could only be separated frm each other via zombies, and even then, they find each other again… also azure turns around after finding chrysi and he finds that she has adopted a child. he is now a father. he didn’t know that would end up happening, but boy, did it!!!

UMMM, i don’t know if these count, but the live action resident evil movies that are not at all related to the games (not truly) have some moments that i’ve superimposed soooo hard on chryzure zombie aus. like azure slowly developing the telekinetic powers of the third one (??? i think??? i also haven’t seen the movies in a while), or him dying and being brought back wrong (…can’t remember the context for that either, but umm it’s because chrysi was going to be hurt by some flying shrapnel and azure shielded her with his body instead,,, causing the shrapnel to travel straight through his body and he dies apart from chrysi bc she’s dragged away from him by somebody trying to keep her away from zombies. it is a sad moment that i like to turn aroudn in my head like a plate in the microwave),,, meanwhile chrysi keeps building up her groups of survivors over and over again.

OHHH, ANOTHER RE MOVIE SCENE I THINK OF IS HAVING AZURE BE INFECTED AND HE’S SLOWLY TURNING BUT HE HAS TO HELP THEM, SO HE KISSES CHRYSI ONE LAST TIME BEFORE SACRIFICING HIMSELF BY BLOWING UP ALL ZOMBIES AROUND HIM. i don’t have this be canon most of the time (or maybe it is… maybe i’ll go with the “azure brought back to life” thing being that he’s jst clone after clone of himself, with new zombie powers each time.), but it is something i like to think of…

but yeah yeah yeah, i love the movies and how silly they are + i think azure deserves to be a new, fucked up zombie clone of himself each time, and that he should find his original body being kept in stasis with chrysi, and so there’s a whole moral issue of, “i’m not the actual person she loves, but i love her and i want to be with her… even though i know the original version of me deserves it more.” now i am thinking abt this rlly hard. fuck. i could make a whole, unique storyline frm this alone bc i looooove this little rabbit hole.

there’s also that chrysijacks re7 au, and with that, i mostly like to imagine chrysi chasing jacks with a chainsaw <3 it’s what she deserves. it’s also what jacks deserves. get his ass, honey.

(that helicopter scene haunts me so mmuch btw, so i always imagine a ship in that setting, bc it’s so genuinely romantic in its peak form… going through and hell and escaping it, and clinging to each other as you go to someplace better… it makes me cry every time i think of it. i always make it more touchy-feely bc IT SHOULD BE!!!

When I write my WOL characters (which it's a different wol per fic because I do NPCships) I find myself subconsciously emphasizing that the ones who are casters are are Openly Weird and the ones who are "physical" are Stoic (TM)

This is a fairly identifiable trend across major NPCs too, so that's likely what I am mimicking.

Casters are just very Openly Conspicuous (And Kind Of Weird). In comparison the melees are more reticent and try not to reveal their whole Deal.

Alphinaud and Alisaie are conspicuously rich, foreign twins. They sound like they learned English solely to imitate private school students on news casts. Or whatever, Eorzean.

I say this, and my estinaud heart compels me, to talk about why Estinien calls Alphinaud "little lord."

I know US audiences aren't great at picking up on this stuff, but Alphinaud specifically acts like he is a peer in standing with the highest house of Ishgard despite being a weird foreign child (16 is underage in Ishgard because of catholicism as confirmed in the AST job quests where this is pointed out as being kinda like weird according to Civilized Peoples [Eorzea, Sharlayan, Garlemald, the irony abounds] but anyway the point is Estinien would probably think under 21 is a child).

Little Lord Alphinaud is on that Yes, Master Wayne shit like 'okay little man I will do what you say but you are baby' okay I love it.

Back to other major casters: Y'shtola literally wears a Weird Scientist Outfit in ARR; like she goes around with those ridiculous goggles asking random people intense science questions (magic is a science).

Then she gets a costume change to something a little more iLVL 170, and in exchange she gets aether poisoning in her eyes that make them glow. She just walks around with glowing eyes okay. We as the player just see them as a weird white, but that's because we have different eyesight, that filter means they literally glow (see: dunesfolk lalafell eyes, wood and fibercraft 90 role quest).

So obviously her next step in being the most Visibly Magical Bitch On Hydaelyn is to fall into a coma and then start dressing like the Wicked Witch Of The First.

So yes that's a pretty conspicuous Vibe.

Though at least Black is arguably a reasonable camo colour in the deep woods.

I didn't play a Gridanian starter I do not know how Papalymo fits into this because I never met him (I understand that you meet him in ARR, but he's not exactly a major character after Heavensward let alone after Stormblood).

Forchenault kind of almost makes a play for stoicism when you first meet him in his diplomatic robes and his sneering, but like actually he just dresses like that. Imagine if you just saw some guy in like full Judges Robes with Wig And Shit in regular daily life that's Forchenault he wears them everywhere he goes to fucking tromp around in the Garlean (Siberian) tundra wearing his judge outfit okay.

And then you've got Urianger (Urianger).

I was just going to leave it at that because like... how do you capture whatever the fuck Urianger has going on. The gender of this bitch is unfathomable. I am constantly callign him a he/him lesbian but since he marries Thancred there's some degree of bi at play there too but on the other hand how do you describe his decision to go become a tarot reading goth GF in the land of rainbows and fairies than "he learned what a they/them is and immediately became a he/him lesbian, like a pokemon evolving".

Ryne also uses the Yda defense by not being named Minfilia, and takes her transformation one step further to have a completely different hair and eyes (and implicitly other features).

~i love experiencing life. i want to be everything i cant. i wish to be everything. i maladaptive daydream, and while yes it may be harmful to my grades, my attention, my relationships, i honestly don’t care. i love my little worlds i’ve made in my head. “i hate how limiting this human life is. because i wish i could be a woman, a man, a mother and a father, to not have kids at all, i want to try every single food, to read every single book, to visit every place it is humanly possible to visit, to learn every single language, to gain all the knowledge of this world and to be completely clueless, i want to be a writer, a painter, a scientist, a musician, a lawyer. i want to meet everyone and make friends i'll can't even count to be a lover and to love, to be both the artist and the muse, oh god I wish I had a thousand lives this one is just not enough.”

~i’m a hopeless romantic. i want to experience love and passion. i want to care for someone and be cared back, love someone and have that love reciprocated. i maladaptive daydream, like i said, and my universes key component are about love. different ways i fall in love, meet people, live life.

~i love people. i love how we all have our own little ways of expressing ourselves with our styles or music or hair, it’s all just so cute. i love watching people experience life. looking around, you can see just anything, and you have no idea of their past, present, or future. all you know is how you perceive them in that moment. and that is so special to me. i love people watching and observing every little thing about nature, that be people, animals, plants, you name it. i love that you can be reading all of this, know this much about me, while not knowing what i look like, who i have been, who i ever will be. while people i call my own friends don’t even know this about me.

this parts gonna be short, but just so you know, i struggle with paranoia, depression, social anxiety (diagnosed/told by therapists or doctors)

i’m not sure of any other mental illnesses

i also have a history of eating disorders, self harm, and suicidal tendencies

this blog i’ll either repost things i like, random thoughts, or i might post some vents, so for the venting part i just wanted to let you know of my past because that is what it may involve. any vent i post i’ll put a tw, so yk in case any of that triggers you!!
