How to Read Manhua on Bilibili: Legal, Free, and in English
In my posts on this blog, I keep sharing screen caps from manhua I've read on Bilibili, along with the link to read it yourself, but I know:
This blog doesn't have all that many followers.
It's one thing for me to post the link and quite another for people to realize just how easy this is to do.
Considering how often I see English-speaking MXTX/c-novel/c-drama/donghua fandom peeps screaming and begging for more content, I'm now begging you in return:
STOP SLEEPING ON THE BILIBILI APP!
If you want more danmei content, fully legal, entirely free, already translated, you literally c.a.n.n.o.t. do better than using the Bilibili app to read manhua. That's not to say this is a perfect method - their translations are...um...wanting sometimes? (Shout out to the four pages in a row I recently read where someone broke in to a residence and every time the breaker-inner was mentioned they were called "the intrud") But it's still ALL THERE, FOR US, ANYTIME, and the more eyes the manhua in the apps gets, the more content we'll get, so please, PLEASE, if you're out there thirsting for danmei content, DO THIS.
Wondering how?
Well, I've got you covered.
WAY 1: The Bilibili Manhua Website
I know I said "get the app" but honestly you don't even need an app to do this! You can read on Bilibili using any web browser.
The website is Bilibilicomics.com.
It looks like this:
Tumblr media
Yes, you're reading that right: there's an entire section of BL.
Tumblr media
There's also an entire section of GL!
Tumblr media
There are 38 titles in GL and 121 titles, yes ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE titles, in BL.
AND there's het stuff, and non-romance stuff too!
New episodes general come out weekly or biweekly, though a few things are daily. The website is often a few chapters ahead of the app (which I actually didn't realize until just now - Chapter 55 of Legend of Exorcism, for example, came out today on the app, but it lists 60 episodes as available on the website. Which, considering the cliffhanger I just read... *eyes emoji*...though apparently in other cases there are more chapters on the app than on the website, so ymmv.)
The best-known title available (again: FOR FREE. OFFICIALLY. LEGALLY. IN ENGLISH) is Tian Guan Ci Fu. When you go to a specific title's page, you get this...
Tumblr media
...and reading it is as simple as selecting the chapter you want, clicking it, and et voila! Just scroll down and read to your heart's content!!
NOTE: SOME CHAPTERS WILL HAVE WAIT TIMES. More on this shortly.
WAY 2: The Bilibili App for Android
I personally have been reading primarily from the Android app, since I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and a lot of time sprawled on my couch while my kids watch cartoons.
You can download the app from the Play store - here's a link, for what that's worth.
It looks, essentially, like this (I'm logged in so mine looks a little different than non-logged-in, I made an account even tho you don't actually need one):
Tumblr media
If you don't want to make an account, you don't have to. If you choose to, as you see it'll try to guess what other titles you might like. tbh I have no idea how good these recommendations may be; I'm still reading/catching up on the specific titles I wanted to read so I haven't had to try their recommendations yet. But, there's definitely some stuff that looks interesting (that top middle one definitely looks up my alley...)
You can also "favorite" things (again: EVEN WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT) and it'll store them in your library and make a red dot (like you can see on the above screen cap) when something has an update you haven't read yet. For example, here's my Favorite list, which helps me keep track of what I'm reading and enjoying (or, well, in one case I'm more "wtfing" than "enjoying" but hey that still counts).
Tumblr media
There's even a weird, like, "dress up" side game??? So like, every chapter you read there's a chance the app will drop a "card" and you can use the cards to dress your avatar up, and there's a whole crafting system built in? It's. A little odd. But, considering I recently quit my Love Nikki addiction after 3+ years, it's nice to get a small hit of pointless dress up.
Tumblr media
Yes, my avatar is currently wearing San Lang's shirt.
The point is, again: this app is free to download, and incredibly easy to use, and even has a fun pointless side game.
BUT. There is one "but" here. See the Coins: 0 Top Up right below my randomly assigned username?
There is an optional pay system. What does it do? It reduces wait times.
Some titles, but not ALL, have a "built in delay" that kicks in at some point. On some, it seems to start when you're "within 5 chapters of the most recent" (that's what's happened with Global Examination and TGCF, for example). For others, it seems to be arbitrary - for A Single Strike of Shimmering Frost, it kicked in at chapter 40 even tho there are, like, 80 something chapters up. Regardless, it always works the same.
The system functions using wait times, and it has 5 tiers that are always the same.
Tier 1: You must wait one minute before you can read the next chapter. This tier is rarely an issue; the count down sometimes (but not always??? it's weird) starts when you start a new chapter, and it almost always takes more than one minute to read a full chapter, so this tier is often "satisfied" before you even get to the next chapter.
Tier 2: You must wait six minutes before you can read the next chapter.
Tier 3: You must wait one hour before you can read the next chapter.
Tier 4: You must wait six hours before you can read the next chapter.
Tier 5: You must wait twenty-four hours before you can read the next chapter.
I initially thought this system functioned as "once you reach Tier 5, you're just stuck there and can only read a chapter a day" but it's turned out that's not the case - A Single Strike of Shimmering Frost having 40+ semi-locked chapters has given me the chance to actually test this a bit. In fact, what happens is:
The first time you hit a "wait delay" chapter, it puts you at Tier 1 and you have to wait a minute. The next chapter, you up to Tier 2, the next to Tier 3, then Tier 4, then Tier 5...and then it cycles back to Tier 1. So, with a little care and planning (which I almost always fail at) I can time reading something with many wait-delayed chapters such that I can read 5 chapters in one day, then I have to wait a full day, then I can read 5 more chapters.
Here's how it looks when you've done your waiting in purgatory and can now read on...
Tumblr media
...and here's how it looks when the sad trombones play...
Tumblr media
Now, I mentioned I'd circle back to the coins? THE TIME HAS COME! Because, look - for 17 coins, you can read on instantly!! Alternatively, if you're willing to share on social media, you can also skip (I have no if that's something you can do over and over, or just once, cause I haven't tried - you can skip the wait time once for free). This begs the question, then...is 17 coins a lot?
And the answer is...
Tumblr media
...eh not really, no. Ten bucks will get you the ability to pay 17 coins many, many times (58, to be precise), but honestly? I haven't spent a penny yet and I've caught up on 7 different titles and am steadily reading through two more (one of which hasn't had wait times kick in yet, I just can only read so fast).
All of which is to say: yes, there's a pay system, and tbh, I'm probably going to throw them a few bucks not because I care about the wait times but because I'm getting so much enjoyment out of reading these titles and I want to support them a little (I also bought the print version of the TGCF vol. 1 and will likely buy the other volumes, and I once-upon-a-time paid to watch TGCF s. 1 streaming as they came out). With a little patience there is absolutely zero call for spending even one penny to read as much of this cornucopia as you want.
WAY 3: Download the Bilibili App on Apple
I don't have access to an iPhone and don't feel like grabbing my tablet rn and I've hit the Tumblr image limit anyway, but the Apple app looks about the same as the Android app, and you can download it HERE.
Basically: use the website, or download the app for whichever platform you're using, and READ, READ, READ!
So, what is there to read?
I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED!
(okay, cutting to a read more)
I've been reading on the app pretty regularly for like two months (prior to that I was only reading TGCF, and only when I remembered, which was rarely), but I'm juggling a lot AND reading other stuff too so I am far from having explored the wide range of options. I can, however, highlight a few I think are likely to be of interest to a danmei-reading audience. Note that of these, I've only read the novels for TGCF, TYQHM, and Daomu Biji, which means that I only know as far as the manhuas have covered for the rest - I haven't read farther than that yet.
A. Tian Guan Ci Fu by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The one, the only - this is the official manhua with art by Starember. It tells the story of newly ascended god Xie Lian trying to navigate the intricacies of the heavenly bureaucracy, figure out his place in the world, and understand why a sexy guy in red keeps showing up in his life. (Worst synopsis ever award goes to: ME!). The English translation is currently on episode 77, which has Xie Lian and Hua Cheng in the gambler's den. A volume just ended, which means it's on hiatus temporarily - there's usually a month or two break between volumes - so it'll be back soon!
B. Global Examination by Mu Su Li. Based on the book Global University Entrance Examination, featuring art by E Zi. Global Examination is a story set in a dystopian near-future about a world where groups of people are randomly selected (read: kidnapped and forced) to participate in an "exam" where they have to answer extremely complex puzzles. If they succeed, they get to live and become one of the people who administer the exam. If they fail, they die. Despite the premise sounding dark, it's really not been so bad and I've been reassured it won't become so. The story itself focuses on You Huo, a recently selected examinee with amnesia, the other people in his examinee group, and Examiner 001, who clearly has some kind of history with You Huo. If only he didn't also have amnesia, we might even know what that history is...
C. Dinghai Fusheng Records and Legend of Exorcism, both based on the books of the same names written by Fei Tian Ye Xiang. The art for Dinghai Fusheng Records is by Qianerbai (who has also done a lot of work for the Mo Dao Zu Shi audio drama) and for Legend of Exorcism, it's by Warp. These stories are set in the same 'verse, at least several hundred years apart; it's a xianxia high-fantasy setting, and the main enemies are resentment monsters and demons (...or are they? dun dun duuuun). Dinghai Fusheng Records takes place, chronologically, first, and occurs a couple hundred years after a calamity caused all qi to fade from the world - there are only mortals, and no one can cultivate. It follows Chen Xing, a young man born with a gift, as he seeks his protector - Xiang Shu - and others, and they encounter (surprise!) unspeakable evil. Legend of Exorcism takes place in the "future" of Dinghai Fusheng Records, and focuses on Kong Hongjun, a half-demon boy who has received a summons to join the Exorcism Department, as he explores the mortal world for the first time and gets to know the others who have summoned to join the Department, especially the mortal leader Li Jinglong.
D. Daomu Biji titles, originally by Nanpai Sanshu. There are two DMBJ titles on Bilibili right now, though both only have a few chapters, and the website lists them as "on hiatus." I've read them both, and am not entirely sure what's up with one especially, but... Grave Robbers' Chronicles starts where Book 1 starts, with changes of course but it's quite recognizable as the initial "Wu Xie is brought a silk scroll and gets curious and then Wu Sanxing gets involved" plot line. The Grave Robbers' Chronicles Seven Dreams is...odder...and as far as I can tell is an alternate canon/AU which starts with a "what if" of "what if the Zhang's were incredibly abusive, raised child!Zhang Qiling themselves, and Wu Xie and he met as kids." It's. Um. Extremely weird. And not for those sensitive to kids getting beaten bloody. But I'm still hoping they'll release more than 9 chapters, if only because I'm curious.
E. A Single Strike of Shimmering Frost, based on the novel A Sword of Frost by Yu Xiao Lanshan. This one opens with the Prince Ji Yanran approaching Sect Master Yun Yifeng, who runs a sect of spies and information collectors, to ask for help finding an item that has been stolen from the palace. In exchange, he promises to give Yun Yifeng the cure to an ailment that plagues him. Problem 1: he doesn't actually have this cure. Problem 2: everywhere they go people start dying. Problem 3: catching feels for the pretty Sect Master. Despite having the trappings of xianxia, this story has actually thus far been a sequence of murder mysteries with politics-related causes.
F. Saved the Public Enemy By Mistake by Liu Muqiao. If this is based on a novel, I haven't been able to track it down. It's xianxia; demon immortal cultivator Liu Jianghe shows up, nearly dead, on the doorstep of famed doctor Lu Jiu who is just trying to live a quiet life in seclusion. Not knowing who Liu Jianghe is, Lu Jiu saves him, and thus stumbles into a mess of politics and history he doesn't understand...but nothing is actually how it seems, there's amnesia and hidden back stories galore, there's a heavy side plot of sword lesbians, and honestly I've read like 50 chapters and I'm still a little lost but the art is pretty and I really need to read the reveal on the two MCs history together so I'm sticking with it. Warning that it's got a fair amount of blood and gore.
G. Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine by Man Man He Qi Duo. A historical (non-cultivation) setting focused on politics, machinations, and the long history and deep love between Zhong Wan - former top-scorer on the national exam who lost his position when his adopted father was accused of treason - and Yu She, of dubious parentage and believed by most people to be the bastard son of the Emperor. I loved the book for this, and finding out that the manhua was on Bilibili is a lot of what drove me to download the app.
So - that's everything I'm currently reading: 6 titles inspired by explicitly BL danmei titles, 2 based on other books I like that aren't BL, and 1 BL that just looked interesting and my taste.
There's SO MUCH MORE, seriously. I'm going to be reading on this app for months and still finding more, I'm positive of it.
But unforth, I hear you say, there's some other manhua I want to read! What about Mo Dao Zu Shi? What about Erha? Are those on Bilibili? Can I read them? And the answer, sadly, is no. Those two are published by Kuaikan, which does not offer free legal English translations at this time. But! I am holding out hope that if the audience for Bilibili grows, other manhua publishers will see the profitability in emulating them. I cannot guarantee that anything we do will result in this happening, but I do feel pretty confident that if we don't read with the options currently available, we sure ain't likely to get more options.
SO. GO FORTH. READ THE THINGS I'VE MENTIONED. READ OTHER THINGS. COME BACK AND TELL ME WHAT YOU LOVED SO I HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT TO READ NEXT.
PLEASE.
I'm begging. GO READ MANHUA!!!
RIGHT NOW.
ON BILIBILI.
(and signal boost this post to get other people to do the same!! help the small fandoms grooooow! I really just wrote all of this so I'd have someone to scream with about the current awful that is the recent chapters of Legend of Exorcism PLEASE WE ALL NEED SQUEEMATES COME READ!!! THE THINGS! THEY'RE GOOD! WITH PRETTY ART!)

Very interesting dynamic. I've laughed many times during their interaction. Yu She's such a cute lunatic whenever Zhong Wan is concerned. Interesting and not overly complicated political plot too. The kind I can easily follow after getting used to the various names and honorifics. About 80% into book I. I hope book II doesn't disappoint.

Those Years In Quest of Honor Mine (Review)
Type: Chinese Novel (BL) Genre: Historical Author: Man Man He Qi Duo Rating: ★ (1.5) Summary: Yu Ziyou and Zhong Wan served different masters.
They had once been the closest of souls, and were the bitterest of enemies. After losing the fight for the throne, Zhong Wan brought his two young masters with him far toward the borders for the sake of survival. He relied on the little friendship that existed between him and Yu Ziyou when they were young. He borrowed some of his personal belongings while also dropping various hints around which made everyone think that there was something intimate going on between them.
Given the Yu Clan’s powerful authoritative presence in the imperial court, this appearance of a close tie allowed Zhong Wan to live a much better life than before. As such, the stories he cooked up began to carry more and more weight.
As rumors of their lovely romance spread a thousand miles into the horizon, Yu Ziyou, who was located in the distant capital city, eventually caught wind of his deeply moving and epic love affair. In a trance, Yu Ziyou, who had been completely brainwashed for seven years, believed in them. He guessed something special really did happen between them back in those years…
Characters: Zhong Wan He starts off in the novel at the age of 24. He’s described to be good looking and very intelligent. He is quite the flirt and teases Yu She on the regular. He has endured many hardships in life and was raised by an adoptive mother and father. He has a weak constitution due to something that had happened to him. Can’t go into detail without spoiling. He also has three step siblings whom he cares for. Yu She At the start of the novel he is 23. During his youth he was a very kind and strong willed individual and adhered to all rules. But as the years went by he started to change and had “bouts of madness”. I believe it is mental illness of some kind but it was never said which. Gradually he becomes less prone to wild behavior and mania thanks to Zhong Wan. Relationship: Uh, hmmm... Zhong Wan liked Yu She as soon as they met. They were 15 and 16 at the time. Zhong Wan loved to joke around and mess with Yu She, and Yu She would get angry. It was cute, honestly. Then they separated for years and reunite in their twenties and Zhong Wan still felt as strongly for Yu She as he did years ago, and it was quickly found out by the other. Eventually they both fess up to their feelings for one another. Their relationship wasn’t anything amazing to me. It was just there and had a few cute moments. Supporting Characters: Xuan Congxin. She’s the real queen here! I liked her a lot and was sad she didn’t get as much screen time as I’d have liked. The rest were meh. Overall: This novel was...boring. The plot is not strong and had “comedy” riddled in all parts. It felt intrusive when you came to serious topics and it ends with a joke or something witty the author wanted one of the characters to say by the end of the chapter. She said it took her sixteen years to write this, and it’s telling (at least to me) that it was written when she was young and got polished more and more as the years went by. The title drew me to this the most and was why I decided to read it. And I have seen people question others with something akin to “why read a novel you don’t enjoy much and then rate it really low?” Why not? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and while they did not enjoy it as much as someone else, feedback, whether negative or positive still gives it attention. Nothing is perfect, after all.

Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine
Word is that Zhong Wan was the love of Prince Yu’s son, Yu She. These rumours stem from no one other than Zhong Wan himself, so when he has to return to the capital for the Emperor’s Longevity Festival, he dreads meeting the man he took advantage of. Naturally, Zhong Wan can’t avoid Yu She and is even brought to the Prince Heir’s courtyard. What on earth will happen to him now? Continue reading…

Chapter 72
"You mean to tell me that you have given your daughter the nickname Chou-Chou?" The prince spoke very slowly.
As he said it, he even glanced at his daughter, who was being held in Pan'er's arms, the child out of her mother's womb really looked different every day, today she looked much better again than on the third day of washing, the little face that was a little wrinkled was not wrinkled now, it was just that the skin was still very red and looked delicate, one dared not touch it easily.
Not very pretty indeed, but newborn babies are like that, and it has nothing to do with being ugly.
"For a person's name, it's more appropriate to be 婤 (zhou), Wan Yin." The prince said implicitly.
This was a bit awkward, as Pan'er had taken it upon herself to think that the fact that ugly and feminine were the same sound just meant that she and the prince had a heart to heart, but in reality they weren't even reminiscent of feminine (chou).
The most important thing was that Wan Yin (雲), the name sounded really good.
"Then it will be called Wan Yin (婉婤)?"
The prince nodded: "You probably don't know that the royal family has its own rules for naming. The word "Wan" means "soft and supple" and "graceful", and the word "'Yin' and 'Wan' have the meaning of reflecting each other."
This was a set of words, worthy of the learned prince, and Pan'er was ashamed of herself.
"Then can I still call her Chou Chou?"
Seeing that she was so keen on this nickname, the prince thought for a moment that he had given his son and daughter their names, and it was only right to let the mother herself pick the nickname.
In fact, there was a bit of a story here, for when a male heir was born in the family of Prince Qi and Prince Chu, they were all given names by Emperor Cheng'an.
When he first thought of a name for his eldest son, Zong Duo, he had several names in mind, and since Pan'er was already pregnant at the time, he had the idea of choosing them all together.
After some thought, the prince gave the word Duo to the eldest son, leaving the word Yue behind.
So the second son's name was already chosen, but it was the daughter's name that gave the Prince some trouble.
"If you really like it, there is no harm in using it."
In fact, what the Crown Prince was thinking was that in a few years' time she would have a title anyway, and the nickname would only be used when she was young. Moreover, the servants did not dare to call their masters by their nicknames, and the name was, frankly speaking, just Pan'er's own.
If she liked it, then she would be allowed to have it.
"Then it is settled, Wan Yin's maiden name will be Chou Chou, as for Yue Er ......," Pan Er glanced at her son who was quiet next to her, shoved her daughter to the prince and picked up her son, "I can't think of anything suitable for the moment, why don't we just call it Yue Er."
   "All as you wish."
Now that it was agreed, Pan'er let go of one more thing on her mind. Seeing that the prince had nothing else to do, she hurried him away.
It wasn't for anything else, but she didn't smell too good right now.
Although August was already considered autumn, it was still very hot, and with all the sweating she had done on the day of the birth, and not being able to bathe afterwards, just wiping her with a hot towel on the day of the third wash, Pan'er felt that she was going to stink for a few days.
Women are thin-skinned, especially in the presence of the man they love, and even though Pan'er prided herself on her experience from her previous life, she dared not say that the Prince would not find her foul.
The prince was rather puzzled by her rushing him: "What, are you sleepy? I heard when I arrived that you had just woken up from a nap."
Pan'er could only tell the truth and blushed a little, "My aunt is already working on a solution, saying that she will make a hair powder that will remove the smell and help to cleanse my hair. You can't see that I've been wearing a head wrap for the past few days, not because I'm afraid of getting cold, but because the smell is really bad."
She looked embarrassed, but the Prince laughed.
"Well, I've got things to do, so I'll go on ahead and come and see you and the children later."
When the prince left, Pan'er was relieved and asked Xiang Pu to bring Aunt Qing to her, and when Aunt Qing came, she looked at her pitifully.
"Don't be in a hurry, the slave servant has already made it, but I just have to take it to the Imperial Doctor for a look, I will go to the Imperial Hospital right now."
"Then go and return quickly, aunt." Pan'er said, but she couldn't resist scratching her scalp with her fingertips, not daring to scratch hard, and not being able to scratch the itch, the more she scratched, the more itchy she felt.
Aunt Qing laughed and went out with her things.
When they arrived at the Imperial Hospital, people were coming in and out, seemingly very busy.
The hospital's staff was busy, but the doctor was not there.
In fact, Aunt Qing had already made the powder, but she didn't bring it out because she had to show it to the doctor before she could use it. On weekdays, Dr. Wang was definitely not here, so other doctors could not use it with confidence, only Dr. Dong, but Aunt Qing did not want to see Dr. Dong.
"Qing'er, you're here." Seeming to realise that he had lost his temper a little, Dowager Doctor Dong was busy leading Aunt Qing to her own duty room.
The duty room was quiet, but the two of them were somewhat speechless in pairs.
Aunt Qing bowed her head and took something out and put it on the table, "Master thinks she's dirty and always wants to toss and turn and bathe, but you know that during the month, so I made a head powder to fluff her hair and make her feel better too."
Doctor Dong gave her a complicated look and took the packet of head powder to look at it.
Not only did he look at it, but he also used his nose to smell it, and took his fingers to dip some into it to taste it with his mouth.
"You have learnt Auntie Yue's handicraft extremely well."
A word that opened up an old memory for both of them.
The two were childhood friends of sorts, I guess, but small ones. Like the Yue family, the Dong family was a medical family, and the heads of the two families were both Imperial Doctors in the palace, so the two families had frequent dealings with each other because their tempers were agreeable.
As a woman, Yue Qing was not able to learn the family's medical skills, but rather learned to mix incense and simple women's illnesses from her mother. Yue Qing's maternal grandmother was a medical woman, so she had a family history of learning.
As a result of the relationship between the elders, the two children became close, and Dong Cheng was willing to play with Yue Qing when she was young.
Unfortunately, all of this was ruined when Yue Qing was eight years old.
The Yue family was imprisoned overnight and the Dong family had no time to campaign for them before all the male members of the Yue family were executed and all the female members were sent to the Department of Education.
The family's men were all executed and the women were sent to the Department of Education.
What happened to the male members of the family, it became clear that there was only one end for these women, and that was to be used as courtesans. This was the most tragic outcome for some of the women of the condemned families, apart from death.
The adult members of the Yue family were so humiliated that they committed suicide, while some of the younger ones were left behind in the Department of Education, with the intention of being raised as official prostitutes. Even if they didn't know what had happened to the Yue family, they knew that they had caused a great deal of trouble.
However, he did not dare to stay at home, but sent her back to Huai'an, the Yue family's hometown.
The family's ancestral home, with its ancestral hall and clan, would always have someone to take care of this innocent girl.
At first Dong Cheng promised his grandfather that after rescuing Yue Qing, the two would never see each other again, and naturally the marriage contract was cancelled. However, when Dong Cheng grew up, he went to look for Yue Qing, but had no idea of her whereabouts.
He didn't know that Yue Qing had been sent back to her family, but unfortunately the clan had fallen and some of her relatives were unwilling to take her in, and some bad-hearted people even saw that she was a family member of a criminal and still had some beauty, so they encouraged the clan to sell her again. The name was given as a way of avoiding disaster, but in reality they were just greedy for money.
So Yue Qing's tragedy did not stop there, but after the darkness of the village, she fell into the abyss again. The old biddy told her to learn her trade, so she did, and when she was old enough, she hung out in the pavilion and drifted through the red world.
What she didn't expect was that she would run into Dong Cheng again in the palace after decades of going round and round.
But the past is gone, so what if we meet again? Aunt Qing wasn't too able to understand Dong Cheng's excitement and complications, nor did she want to, and even avoided it somewhat.
"It would be better if there was another flavor of white liana in this, to better absorb the oil and sweat from the hair." The voice of Imperial Doctor Dong broke the silence.
Aunt Qing still had her eyes downcast: "Since Imperial Doctor Dong thinks it is good, let's add one more flavour, only I don't have any extra herbs there, here is the recipe, when Imperial Doctor Dong has made it have someone go and say so, it is time for me to order someone to come and collect it. But I also hope it will be quick, for my master is in a hurry."
"If you are in a hurry, I will go and grind some white liana and add it in, you wait."
Not long after, Dong Cheng returned with the stuff, his robe stained with some greyish-white powder.
When he saw Aunt Qing's eyes on his robe, he looked down and patted it, "They didn't grind it fine enough, so I grinded it a few more times."
Naturally it wouldn't be just a few strokes, Dong Cheng had always been like this since he was a child, doing things carefully.
Thinking of this, Aunt Qing pursed her lips and said, "Since the stuff is done, then I will leave first, the rest is up to Doctor Dong."
Dong Cheng wanted to say something else, but could only watch her back fade away.
All along the way, Aunt Qing's mind was not exactly smooth, but by the time she got back to the East Palace, she had calmed down.
When she entered the house, Pan'er was still playing with the two children.
She was a capricious one, too, as she had a nanny, but she liked to watch the children herself. As long as the children were awake, she had them brought over and put them side by side in the bed.
Aunt Qing suddenly realised that her desire to see the children was real, but in fact it was more like passing time with them.
Pan'er suddenly shouted, "Xiangpu, quick, pee."
Aunt Qing, who had been lost in thought, went in and Xiang Pu and Qing Dai came too, and the three of them joined hands to change Ugly's nappy. Just after they had finished changing Ugly's nappy, Yue'er also peed.
Pan'er sat there with an embarrassed face as she watched someone change her son's nappy, while not forgetting to scold him: "You peed even when your sister peed, you little pee bag."
Yaxie returned her an expressionless bubble with saliva on his face.
"Auntie, look he can spit bubbles." Pan'er fussed.
Aunt Qing took a look and it was true.
"The little master is still too young to drool now, and sometimes he spits bubbles when he can't produce saliva."
"Just realised you know everything, Auntie." Pan'er sighed a little.
Auntie Ching knew a lot, and as to why she knew all this? It had to do with the fact that when she was young, she had been taught by her father and mother that men were inferior to women, and that doctors were usually men, but there were also some medical women in the world, mostly for the female members of wealthy families.
These diseases are not suitable for male doctors, and naturally there are also some diseases of young children, but Auntie Qing doesn't know much, so she only knows some superficial ones.
What's wrong with her today? Why is she always thinking about the past?
Pan'er's voice interrupted Aunt Qing's thoughts, "Aunt, did you see Dr Dong at the Imperial Hospital?"
"I did, and the stuff has been brought back, but it's only enough for a single serving, and the rest of it, Doctor Dong said he'd make it."
Pan'er's eyes flickered, but she did not continue the subject, but said, "That's really good, quick, quick, quick, you get it for me, I really can't stand it anymore."
After that the two children were carried away by the nurse, while Pan'er went to the chair and let Aunt Qing and Xiang Pu help her pass her hair.
She half wrapped her hair in a handkerchief, sprinkled it with hair powder, wrapped it for a while, and then took a grate and combed it from head to tail to get all the powder attached to her hair.
When the combing is finished, the hair is shaken and cleaned, and the hair, which Pan'er felt was stuck in a line, is suddenly relaxed, as if she had just washed it. The key was that the powder also had a faint fragrance on it, which was particularly nice.
Afterwards, she wiped herself with a hot handkerchief, rubbing her body from head to toe, and then changed into clean bedclothes.
"It's good, ask Doctor Dong to make more of it, His Highness has asked me to sit through enough for two months, if that's the case, I may have to rely on it for these two months."
Aunt Qing pursed her lips and smiled, "His Highness is also heartbroken that you suffered during childbirth, it is good to recuperate more. In the meantime, slave servant will also help you to tone up, so that you will be back to your old self when you are out of the confinement."
Pan'er had great expectations of this, because in her previous life she had relied on a secret trick that Aunt Qing had taught her, which had helped her even after giving birth to the Yue Er, did Aunt Qing have any more secret tricks?
The days went on like this, although the requirements for the confinement period were very strict from food to living, Pan'er was still extremely happy to see the two children change day by day.
During this period, the Crown Princess took the initiative to ask for the title of " Liang Di" for Pan'er, saying that she had done a great job in continuing the heirship of the Eastern Palace and had given birth to a rare and auspicious dragon and phoenix fetus, so she should be named Liang Di.

Lime for the poll runners’ ask game?
Lime -> participant(s) you’re rooting for the most?
i don't want to sway the votes so i won't do any propaganda for them after the poll starts BUT it's Wu Zetian/Li Shimin/Gao Yizhi from Iron Widow i just love the way their relationship develops so much and as someone whos unable to actually pick up a book and focus on it, the fact that i read iron widow in 4 days is amazing im still proud of that as silly as it is
yknow what ill use this as an opportunity to ramble about them askdgakdjk spoilers ahead but ill try to keep the major stuff out
for context the book has pacific rim style mechas, but instead of being drift compatible or whatever its usually a male pilot and his concubine whose life force he usually drains in order to pilot the thing, but theres a LOT of propaganda that makes girls want to be concubines, or families might wanna send their daughters for the money. im simplifying it a LOT especially cause theres more info u only learn later on as zetian herself finds out but anyway
at the start of the book zetian and yizhi are besties who obviously have feelings for each other. zetian is poor while hes very rich so their friendship is kind of a secret and they meet in the woods which i think is cute, point is its p clear zetian tries to mantain a distance, not allowing herself to admit her feelings. for reasons i wont say zetian decided to become a concubine to one of the like bigger more badass guys even if she doesnt believe the propaganda and knows she might die, she only tells yizhi this the day before
he shows up at her house the next day begging her family to let him marry her?????? which is sweet because he wants to protect her but that isnt gonna work bestie sorry she's a woman w a mission
so anyway she goes to the concubine thing and shes surprisingly powerful "for a girl" which yeah thats a super common trope but shes so much more than just the strong protagonist. shes extremely powerful in every sense of the word imo and i love her so much and i wish the world hadnt been so cruel that she had to become so strong. but anyway the guy she wants to pilot w picks her. MAJOR SPOILER they have to pilot the mecha on day 1 cause they're under attack and uhhh she kills him lol lmao she drains her life force instead which supposedly is UNHEARD OF
so they cant just kill her off cause that'd look bad instead they send her to be the concubine of the strongest guy (all of his concubines die after 1 fight) and thats Li Shimin my beloved my little meow meow hes looked down on and kinda treated like an animal cause hes a criminal and the only reason he gets to be a pilot is his powerful qi. anyway shes forced to live w him and turns out hes just a lil guy. like hes very big and scary looking but hes just a tired man pls he needs a break. she fucking survived piloting w him which nobody expected. so now theres a lotta stuff going on i wont get into but some ppl arent happy w this duo cause they're both very powerful and not exactly happy to serve. and Shimin has a drink problem.
IN ENTERS GAO YIZHI hes back babey!!! and he decides to help shimin w his alcoholism. its funny cause when they first meet his crush on li shimin is so fucking obvious zetian is like "huh i always suspected he liked guys too" but li shimin is just pissed cause this is the guy who wants to make him stop drinking
theres like 1 moment of jealousy that i can remember when li shimin realizes zetian and yizhi have a thing going on but its settled very quickly and they all kiss.
back to the drift compatible thing: at one point in the final battle zetian and shimin need more power and yizhi literally lends them his qi (its extremely rare for a third person to help) and its beautiful and they are so in love and i cant wait for the sequel
idk if any of that is coherent i kinda stopped thinking and just typed sorry for rambling on ur ask im just very passionate about them i love them so much i love iron widow so much i love xiran jay zhao so much (the writer) (you might know them from the live action mulan analysis video that went viral back when that movie came out) (check out their yt channel)
