I don't know why I never realised this the very first time I played duskwood Richy was the only one that knew the others had gone to that cabin. Why didn't I see it then or maybe I guess I didn't really want to because the thought of him being behind it still hurts.

The three primary uses of masks in film are entertainment, disguise and protection. From ancient Greek plays through Japanese Noh theater, masks are deeply intertwined in the universal language of entertainment and ritual, and its power as a transformative tool is so ritualized and timeworn that it is the unofficial logo for an entire artform. Since theater was an influence on early motion pictures (consider the framing and gestural acting of silent film), it figures that masks would be smuggled into movies, and some of the most enduring images from film history are now associated with masks. —Alex Vlahov
V for Vendetta (2005), The Mask (1961), The Mummy Returns (2001), Emerald City s01e06 (2016), Black Orpheus (1959), Judex (1963), The Man in the Iron Mask (1998), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Eyes Without A face (1960), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Squid Game s01e07 (2021), Knights of the Zodiac (2023), Onibaba (1964), Scream (1996)

Hewwo! What is cheesecake fodder? I don't understand! Please explain?
Hello, cursed Annon who greeted me with hewwo.
So cheesecake, when used in the way I used it, means drawings of women in provocative situations, either in clothing or design (i.e, the boob-butt pose, or the act of giving a woman's bodysuit visible nipples.) The male alternative is "beefcake."
The term fodder, used as slang here, means "People or things that are useful for a stated purpose." So when I say "This character is being used as Cheesecake Fodder" what I mean is the artists put them there just to look sexy and bring in horny boys who want to look at boobs and asses in skintight clothes.
Hope this helps!

sooooo triple-S team (Starscream-Soundwave-Shockwave) being the High Guard means that they are far older than Megatron and probably worked with Primes directly… just like Sentinel... And before carrying out his betrayal, he could have tried to rizz them (and fail miserably) so that they would more likely to continue working for him...

“60s horror movies reflect an era of rapid change and uncertainty, and a yawning generation gap. the social stability of the post-war years crumbled as attitudes to everything from hemlines to homosexuality underwent a seismic shift. horror movies, especially those made for low budgets outside the mainstream studio system, offered ways to process and interpret the rapid pace of change. they often served as cautionary tales about the dangers of abandoning traditional values.”

My God, the way Edwin's expression here moves from exhaustion and anger to disbelief and love in less than a second is a freaking masterstroke. I think this is the moment where it sinks in for him that this is real, that Charles did come for him, that there is no version of this where Charles would have left him in hell. That Charles does love him enough to not let him go, now or ever. And as soon as he allows that thought to sink in, the stress and trauma of the last hours are completely forgotten and he knows he needs to tell Charles he loves him right here, right now. Because if he gets to live in the version of reality in which he is so important to Charles that he does come to rescue him, then Charles needs to know that he is just as important, that he is just as loved in return.

i think that majority of the people have the wrong idea about what was going on in sanji's head when he left for wci by himself. you are only partially right if you think it's cause of his bullshit self sacrificial tendencies. what he did IS a sacrifice but way too many people seem to think that one of the reasons he tried to handle it all on his own is 'cause he didn't think luffy could handle fighting two powerhouses/cause he didn't trust luffy. for fuck's sake, this man was by his captain's side when he declared war on the world government. sanji whole-heartedly believes in luffy's downright baffling and almost godlike power. he trusts his captain will win any fight he gets himself into.
he just thinks that he isn't worth fighting for. that he isn't worth getting hurt over.
the thing is, right, he loves luffy. he loves the crew. he knows the crew loves him. but he himself thinks he is fundamentally disposable. this thought is first seen in thriller bark when he tries to stand in front of kuma, calling zoro stupid for abandoning his ambition and throwing away his life and dream instead. he says "i've always been prepared to sacrifice myself for the others." and he says it like, this is all that i am good for. he tells them they have to find a new cook because sanji genuinely, whole heartedly believes he is dispensable. he thinks, that old man ate his leg to save my dream so i will die to save theirs. little does he know that he is so, so wrong. zeff is not some hero who was trying to save a kid he didn't know. zeff isn't a good man. zeff's choice wasn't a sacrifice. it was a choice. he chose to save sanji and bestow him with his dream. he chose to love sanji like his son. but sanji always sees himself as something that zeff or luffy couldn't avoid because they were fundamentally kind people who took in strays and were burdened with him, that he was an obligation they were trying to fulfill. he shoulders all this and thinks, he thought i was worth something when I really was not so maybe, like this, i can be useful.
but zoro knocks him out and he doesn't get that zoro was trying to say that he is indispensable, that he matters to the crew. no, what he hears is the crack of his ribs and feels white-hot shame because of course, what was he thinking, his life isn't worth that much. he isn't worthy of dying for his captain. he is weak and useless and pathetic. and because zoro and sanji are zoro and sanji, they never clear up this neat little misunderstanding.
now at whole cake island, he does the same thing. he knows luffy will come for him, you see, because he knows his foolish captain loves him. but he kicks him and screams obscenities because he thinks himself unworthy of all that love. he thinks himself hollow, a vessel of convenience. there are a million fighters in the grandline and even more cooks and none of them are even half fucked up and selfish and needy as he is. surely luffy will be better off without him. luffy can win this fight, but sanji thinks he shouldn't have to fight because he thinks he isn't worth fighting for.

My favorite scenes from The Odyssey (books 18 to 21)
Odysseus fighting a random beggar being its own book was not something I expected to enjoy this much when reading The Odyssey, but here we are.

I really hope the spinoff can nail this poor guys style and keep it good looking and consistent, seeming as I dont think his model looked the best in show for about...? 60% of the episodes he has been in. For me personally anyways. He has such a good design that can so go south if you dont nail it. In my honest opinion his design quality and expressive animation style peaked in Horror Club, and then we never got that same level of quality again!
Images more to the left: Yes! I hope we get his model to look this good in the show!
Images more to the right: I think I get secondhand embarrassment from looking at these, deadass.
I like how his hair got more fluffy after the Pinkening but even then, they dont draw it consistently fluffy! This also made me realize how I really didnt like the way he looked in Little Graduation. And just look at how inconsistent he looked in that episode too from the three images on the very right! PLEASE can the spinoff keep his model more consistent.. I am on my hands and knees

this is the stupidest crossover possible but I want Tim to make House his doctor
yes that House
Tumblr media
why? He needs someone who is very good, will not give up or send Tim out to a different specialist just because his medical condition is difficult, will not be overly concerned about the danger Tim puts himself in, and will lie on Tim's medical records AND to Batman/Bruce Wayne/all of the Bats without hesitation or fear.
House is and will do all of those things without hesitation. He has no shame, no boundaries, he WILL get into a public fight with Bruce Wayne if it means keeping that man out of his patient's (and House's) business. He will help Tim lie to and gaslight the rest of his family without hesitation.
in exchange, Tim is his favorite patient. Not because they get along, necessarily, Tim is a know-it-all little shit and they constantly bicker and House hates how practically every facet of Tim's existence is a lie (and Tim thinks House is a smug know-it-all jackass who is needlessly cruel and callous bc he thinks the world owes him and never delivers just bc he's in pain, news flash a lot of people are in pain and manage not to be assholes) BUT, 1, Tim brings him really interesting cases and problems, and 2, Tim NEVER lies to House about his medical conditions or what he was doing when they happened.
He lies about literally almost everything else under the sun TO everyone else, but he is 100% completely upfront and honest about his medical history and what is going on with him with House.
admittedly it takes a while for House to realize Tim ISN'T lying to him because some of the shit he says is completely insane ("the vigilante thing is pretty obvious but what do you MEAN you got the Apocalypse virus TWICE, AND SURVIVED, AS A FOURTEEN-FIFTEEN YEAR OLD")
but once he realizes Tim doesn't ever lie to him, he becomes House's favorite patient because at least TIM gives him all of the data he needs as best he's able the moment he asks. At least House doesn't have to waste his time following up on bogus information or figuring out the truth, he can just get right into the meat of the medical issue at hand.
also it's so fun to lie directly to Batman's face, know the man knows, and know he can't do anything about it

here’s the thing about thea calling it jeans “old tricks.” we’re given more than ample clues to fill in the blanks. jean refused to let anyone else in the nest know he was raped. he and kevin painstakingly covered up after riko because they were too proud to let anyone in on the abuse they faced. thea has no reason to suspect assault— ive said it before, but there’s no crime unless jean speaks up.
i see the claim that jeremy knew it was statutory rape so thea should have, but jeremy is in california, from california, born & raised. the age of consent is 18, as opposed to 16 in west virginia. jeremy is operating under a different legal framework. but look at the scene as a whole: it’s not important that jeremy believes it was statutory rape, because that accusation leads to jeans revelation that he never consented. it may not have been statutory under west virginia law, but it was rape. thea and jean have never had that conversation, and if jean has it his way they never will.
thea looks at jean and she has no reason to see a victim, but every reason to see a teenager she cares about making bad decisions that hurt him. jean himself tells her they were just mistakes. that’s how her “old tricks” sentence comes across. she’s tired. it sets her apart from the rest of the ravens— that’s far more compassion than any of the current line up gave him.
