Throwback Thursday-- In Mandarin class last grading period, we did an analysis of two poems and connected them to one common theme with a drawing of our own. This was at the same time our band @scalewulf was preparing for our debut performance, and I felt a lot of the words from each connected to the theme of our first song we were performing there at the same time. ••• The lyrics are very personal to my experiences with dissociation and existential dread, unhealthy attempts to cope with pain by avoiding it. Rather than teaching oneself to grow cold and denying of hurt's conceptuality, I believe it is important to acknowledge the intensity of our feelings in the moment before we question the presence of our perception as elements in an omnipresent universe. In time, succumbing to sensitivity will help not only oneself escape from a black-holed spiral, but also learn to be sensitive for other beings, creating one's own meaning to accept the unknown. Langblr Reactivation Challenge - Week 1 | Day 2

Write a list of goals you have for your target languages. Make both long term and short term goals. An overall goal could be to have the ability to talk with native speakers with ease and a smaller goal would be to finally learn that difficult grammar point that’s been plaguing you for ages. How will you achieve them?

Catalan: My kinda longterm goal is to achieve C2 certification next year, for which I need to work mainly on expanding my vocabulary, improving my redaction/discursive skills, and especially learn a lot of idioms, fixed expressions, and similar stuff. A more short term one is to read Biel Mesquida's El bell pais on els homes desitgen els homes. I guess I'll try and sign up for Orfeó Català de Mèxic's preparation classes, but they're so expensive hahah

Basque: As a long term goal I've decided to try and adopt Bizkaiera as my variety, after all it's my teacher's one and it's widely spoken (if not as much as Gipuzkoera). I don't know whether certification exams expect you to speak Batua; Catalan certificacion exams, or at least the ones from Institut Ramon Llull do expect you to speak in a standard variety, but seeing as Eusko Jaurlaritza doesn't do certification exams in my country this doesn't concern me at the moment. I'd just love to surprise my teacher one day by calling her and not only speaking Bizkaiera, but also calling her hi instead of zu. A more short term goal of mine is to actually fill every single page of the books I used while still in classes.

English: An indefinite (probably long term) goal I have with English is to finally get certified. I don't know whether to go for an IELTS or a certification from Cambridge (especially as the latter are permanent, so they don't need to be renewed), I'm still slowly saving for that, and I guess I'd like to also sign up to a preparation course and really polish it!

Attic Greek: As a long term goal I want to both redo the entire textbook I used before dropping out of Classical Studies and buy and do the next one (idk if there's a third one but I don't remember seeing one in that series). As a short term goal I want to get used to pronouncing it more like Historical Linguistics has reconstructed it so far (like arumnatzorkhang speaks it on the clock app).

Mandarin: I'll barely start a course next week, so I guess my short term goal is to just stick to it and not give it up like all the other poor languages I've just kinda left behind. Long term I'd rather wait and define once I actually start, but like I'm so excited!

Pensamiento primario!

Nada de edulcoraciones ni filtros explicatorios. Nada de enlazar un concepto tan limpiamente con una narrativa que no se diferencie esta de la historia. Frank Herbert continuaba adelante con cada punto que le ayudara a expandir el significado de los pensamientos de sus personajes a la vez que avanzara la trama. Allí radica el origen de cada exclamación destinada a desviar el orden de pensamientos, de desviar el tema e introducir un concepto con el que expandir sus monólogos y continuar su diatriba filosófica a la que llamaba libros.

Escritura de borracho.

Pensamiento sin filtros, una intrusión de palabras cuyo significado debe de enlazar una mente de lector bien consciente porque de lo contrario, una atención mínima no sería suficiente. No se trata de un hilo atento y considerado, que te lleva de la mano para que no te pierdas, sino que sigue adelante, a la carrera, y ya lo pillarás. No busca al público masivo, sino aquel que se unirá por su propio pie; no reducirá su ritmo. Pensamientos sin filtro y a la carrera; los borrachos aparentemente saltan de una idea a la siguiente, aunque no es cierto. Sencillamente, no se molestan en construir puentes, en modelar discursos para que comprendas lo que dicen, pues ellos mismos apenas pueden mantener la atención; no hacen malabares entre pensamiento X y pensamiento Y el tiempo suficiente como para explicarte su concordancia, ellos expresan ambos, y ya harás tú el esfuerzo por unificarlos.

Frank Herbert se encuentra en el limbo, en un punto intermedio; te mostrará el camino entre sus ideas, pero mantendrá la explicación al mínimo para no perder él mismo el hilo: pensamiento de borracho. Va a la carrera, su explicación sigue un trote que no frenará, pero te dará el tiempo suficiente para proporcionarte una mínima guía a al que aferrarte y comprender de qué coño hablan los personajes.

La mayoría de autores escriben para que se les entienda, Herbert imita el auténtico pensamiento espontáneo.

Personalmente, por eso lo encuentro uno de mis autores favoritos, aunque tras mucha escritura puede llegar a resultar algo cargante. Yo recomiendo intercalar su lectura con algún otro libro más convencional, para así descansar de lo que resulta una lectura intensa y bombardeando con algo más sencillo.
