My synopsis:  Tensions are brewing under the seemingly calm surface of the Vasilios Empire, a kingdom ruled by the Imperial Family and the Temple. After being deceived by the Crown Prince Eros, Lady Medea is desperate to be on his side. She suffered to be where she is standing now, she will reach her goal no matter what and take what’s rightfully hers. She could give everything just to be in Psyche’s place, even if it’s just for one day.

In this manhwa you’ll follow the story of Lady Medea Solon- she is what i call a girl boss (always have multiple steps ahead her enemies, her brain is always calculating) in competition to become Crown Princess. She is against the lovely and loveable, the purest soul on this land, the naive Lady Psyche Callista aka Eros’ lover. . Eros Vasilios is the Crown Prince, the fact is: i don’t want to influence anyone but when i tell you if he has one way ticket, it’s one for hell and the vip kind, don’t let his face fool you: it’s punchable. To be clear, the romance will be in the background -sadly- for most of the story but don’t worry we may have starved during some chapters but we really ate sumptuously.

Don’t be afraid of the numerous chapters, you will experiment the growth of some characters and i tell you that you have to be here. Come in the bandwagon for the art, the plot twits, the several plot twits, so many that you’ll gasp in front of your screen. The script is remarquable but buckle up because the cliffhangers are right around the corner.

Let’s take this to an historical turn:

Sam was inspired from greek mythology and as a major GM freak i was excited (yeah i eat what i can ok). Medea in the legend is known as a powerful witch who was betrayed by her husband and to punish him she k!lled theirs sons. In their myth, Psyche is such a beautiful mortal women that even Aphrodite is jealous, so jealous that she asks Eros, a divinity, to make her love the most hideous man in the world but Eros fell in love due to one of his arrow (the man hurt himself with it). So you understand that he wanted to marry her ofc he’s a clutz but he’s not dumb, long short story he told her to not look at his face by any means (he comes to see her only during the night for yk scrabble), she agreed. Everything was perfect, howeverrrr thanks to her sisters’ jealousy (she had a loving relationship, a beautiful palace Psyche was happy), they made her doubt about this man whom she doesn’t know his face. You know that when the night came and Eros finished whisperring sweet words and finally falling asleep, she did it, she looked at his face, his true face. What a shock, she never saw a man this handsome, the d was good but she would never tought the face would be 100. Eros woke up feeling her gaze on him, he realised she betrayed him, full of distrust he left, he zoomed, he flew through the window. To get back Eros’ love Psyche will have to do labours (yeah like Heracles but not as much), in the end they’ll be together and Psyche will become immortal. Helios doesn’t have a myth in itself, it’s the name of the greek titan god of the sun.

It wasn't that long since I started reading Korean manhwa/webtoons besides Japanese manga, and recently I got into the historical-fantasy genre webtoons/manhwa where out of all of them, The Fantasie of a Stepmother (A Stepmother's Märchen) is my No. 1 fav in the list. I just love the story and the characters and more so than that, I'm in love with the main male lead of the story, Norra Von Nurnberger.

Like in the start, there’s a scene where he is being sent to a festival, even though his younger bro (Basen) was supposed to go to it originally. And he really doesn’t want to go, and he thinks to himself that if he starts acting up, he won’t be sent there and will get to relax But then he’s like: “ Ok, but if I think about it, the festival is dangerous. If Basen dies there then he won’t become the next Count, and if that doesn’t happen, I won’t get to relax. And also, while I’m at the festival I can go on [insert 3 more convoluted side quests] to collect ancient powers. And then I can use these powers to laze around and relax. So if I really think about it, this is all necessary if I want to relax ”

And then he never ends up relaxing cuz he’s constantly busy 😭

His biggest ‘problem’ is that he cares ‘too much’. He says he doesn’t, but he’s in denial almost. He cares, which is why he keeps putting everything else above his own comfort. Buying cakes, pasta, and steaks for On & Hong was because he did care. He told himself “Oh, it’s just cuz I don’t want them to annoy me”, but no, he had no reason to go the extra mile just for that reason, especially cuz buying those sweets and meat meant he was probably making more trips up and down the hill 🤧

But okay bbg, whatever you say goes ❤️😮‍💨
