I just started watching the series and still a bit new to his character, but I always been a bit curious about him since I seen clips and fanart of him here and there, and even though I don’t have much to say about him rn since I just started getting into the franchise, all I know is that I think he’s really neat :3

i hope you dont mind me asking; but do you have any general tips for getting into/starting storyboarding? or anything on fighting perfectionism when you draw??? im having a hard time just actually drawing to begin with because of it and its gotten worse and worse recently and its just... really disheartening ghsjdkmgs- ive been combing through bsky for production art for the day the earth blew up and looking through storyboards in general has always really inspired me; the way that it doesnt Need to be perfect and just needs to like, convey the absolute basics and get the idea across has always been really comforting in a weird roundabout way? if that makes sense hdsjkmgsd-

HEY THERE!! i don't mind at all, i'm so flattered you'd come to me!

to answer the first part of your question, i'm going to link to some posts (here and here) where i've answered the same question. NOT because i don't respect your time (trust me, i hate being like "eh just go with all the others and look at this" LOL), but because i trust Past Me to have answered it a bit more clearly and clearheadedly than Present-Me, who would just be rambling trying to think of what Past Me has said. so i hope these are helpful!

THE SECOND PART OF YOUR QUESTION! you are both asking the right and wrong person, because i struggle TREMENDOUSLY with this as well! right in that i can offer empathy/share my experiences, wrong in that i still don't quite have a cure-all and it's something i'm struggling with right at this very second :')

but, as someone with debilitating OCD and perfectionism (to the point where it extends to even the most inconsequential of tasks and habits completely unrelated to art--even/especially things i enjoy doing!!), i struggle HARD with this. and my director turned me onto a bit of a lifesaver that's streamlined my storyboarding process tremendously: THE CHICKEN SCRATCH METHOD.

it's exactly as it sounds. just churn out the quickest, most juvenile scribbles imaginable. you're not thinking about drawing at all. it's just to get something down on paper--starting is always one of the most difficult parts for me, and once i have something down, even if it is GODAWFUL, i feel like i've broken the ice a bit and can carve deeper.

i'm linking (and posting screenshots) from this WIP animatic i posted last week--more than half of it is chickenscratch, and me doing exactly what i do for work! this is how i start every single storyboard. complete 4 year old level scribbles. even Porky here is a bit too fancy, you can see i gave him (and Daffy's face) construction lines out of habit haha. you don't need to do that yet!!

but, also, you can see that earlier on in the animatic, where i've begun to clean it up (i call them "drawovers"), it looks like my normal art style!

i also again recommend actually watching the video, because the motion is the important thing here--you can see how articulated my drawovers are in drawing and acting in comparison to the chickenscratch bits, which are a bit more broad but still convey a general idea

what i also tend to do is chickenscratch my chickenscratches--for my boards, i usually will doodle the broad acting ideas elsewhere, and then transfer those ideas onto my board. it helps with that feeling of easing in and doesn't make me feel as suffocated by a blank screen. i will say that i've been working on excising this process entirely, as it's sort of unnecessary and maybe more of an omission of my own lack of artistic confidence HAHA--i'm trying to get there! but it helps with the artistic brain demons and makes getting started easier, and that's the important thing

and, again, these are a bit fancier than what i usually do: here's some old thumbs for an actual section i boarded for work

it's also very good for someone like me--i'm an extraordinarily detail-oriented person, but i really struggle with the bigger picture. this commonly bites me in the butt when i'm storyboarding, as sometimes i have difficulty visualizing how a sequence will flow in the grand scheme of things. and since my entire job is being An Artist Who Draws Images In Sequential Order, That Go Into A Sequence, That Relies On Every Little Part To Be Working, Because It Is A Sequence, that's not very good! and so chicken scratch helps exactly with that. you're communicating the main idea. you're putting the foundation down, and you're able to get a vague idea of how the ideas and sequences flow together.

HOWEVER. i will say that's about the most advice i can give before it delves into "if you find the answer, lemme know" HAHA. my boards for work are stupidly clean and should not be as stupidly clean as they are. it's something i've been trying to work on for years--i still struggle with getting into board artist/animator brain vs illustrator brain, and a lot of times i'll have a very pretty drawing, but it isn't functional at all and i'll have to throw it out. and it's my own fault! THIS IS SUCH A HARSH METAPHOR and i said it once to my director before being like "wait wow wtf is wrong with me for saying this" LMAO but it's still the most apt way i can describe it. clearly gotta work on my artistic confidence. but in regards to this, i've said "a polished turd is still a turd" and there is hopefully a much kinder way of getting that point across, but yes--clean drawings are not the end all and be all of boarding and animation! in fact, in my experience, they cause more harm than good! i've been trying very hard to unlearn it, it's been a very difficult and taxing and frustrating process that's soured a lot of my already meager artistic confidence--but that means i'm growing and learning.

a common mantra we try to recite is "clear, not clean". and the TDTEBU boards (which, aren't they amazing??) is the very definition of that! i'm trying to beat that into myself more and more. likewise, working on the Sponge shows is a bit of a special circumstance since the animators directly trace off of our boards; what we draw is what ends up on screen. that includes mistakes. there's definitely a higher amount of pressure, especially compared to feature boarding where there seems to be a lot more leeway for looseness. so i'm maybe coming from SOMEwhere here HAHA, but yes, clear, not clean!!

i say all of this knowing i'm going to clean up my pig and duck animatic and have it be as clean as my boards for work, sort of defeating the entire purpose :') i still have a lot to learn and internalize, obviously! but i hope this at least offers some camaraderie and the understanding that you are NOT ALONE! i struggle with Perfectionism Paralysis with every single task i ever do, i'm much less fond of my art than i come off, etc... but i'm working on it and i know we'll both do great!!!

ok hey so genuinely??? ive had that one piece you did of gangle with the paint-thinner/vodka open in its own tab all day. its the coolest damn thing that looking between that, the one where shes biting her lip(???) with the rolled up sleeves and then the one close up where shes undoing the belt that we can SEE the rendering with the lighting improve between pieces. that and the condensation on the glass and the depth nd volume her ribbons have absolutely blows my mind, im gonna be thinking about it for the rest of the week both from a fundamental standpoint and a 'im pulling this photo out of my wallet to look at my wife' standpoint hjgkmsdgm--

Thank you! You’re right, there’s improvement. Also there’s more time spent on each consecutive piece. The belt picture I made far within two days. This latest one (vodka) took two weeks. Mostly because I kept putting it off, lol.

I made three sketches within a day shortly before finishing the lip-bite painting. One of those is posted (vodka). Two more to come, wink.

I think the same way that certain types or colors of flowers have different meanings, I think different colors, cuts, and makeups of rocks and gemstones would have different meanings as well!

unfortunately, i can't take credit there because that's already kind of canon! case in point: the Onion Replica

while Olimar does recognize our onions as looking "just like" a Hocotatian onion, he also says the Onion looks just like those, so uh...

either there's a lot of variety in how Hocotatian onions look, or Olimar has an active imagination, because there's definitely a few big steps in between the two. or even maybe a secret third thing I can't think of right now.

i'm glad people are appreciating this post regardless, though-

Basically Maple asked if they could have a Yunobo x Reader where the reader stays too long/is in too toasty of a hot spring and passes out from the heat. So be warned that there is that little health scare in here, but it's nothing too bad and we are saved! Enjoy c:

 The summer months on Death Mountain had been especially brutal this year, a type of heat that the resident Gorons naturally were used to, but that made you an ungodly amount of hot and sweaty in comparison. You had told Yunobo you were heading for the hot springs thirty minutes ago. A common end to your long days and your favorite way to unwind, not to mention help you get clean. Normally you'd take about ten or fifteen minutes, depending on how badly you needed the soak. But thirty...thirty was far longer than he knew you to be in the hot spring. Though he tried to shake off the nerves that were beginning to float around in his mind, Yunobo would only let five more minutes pass before his worried heart got the best of him. Fire at his back, he rolled quickly to the nearby hot springs you both frequented. He called your name. No answer. Once more, just a little louder this time. No answer. "Oh no..." panic immediately set in the Goron champion, something was definitely wrong. He searched eat hot spring, anxiety stirring heavily in his chest. Where were you? These were usually the hot springs you both went to, so why can't he find you? It would take a good minute before he noticed your hair cascading across the side of the very last hot spring in the cluster. Yunobo shrieked your name, dropping next to your frame to assess what was wrong. You didn't move when his hand touched your back. You didn't move when fingers gently rubbed your cheek. A finger hooked under your chin, at your neck; your pulse was there, though very slow and somewhat weak. The alarm that shook the poor Goron was beginning to rise higher and higher, and soon enough he'd grabbed your towel nearby and scooped you out of the water. What he noticed as soon as he did was your body being extraordinarily warm - far too warm than he'd ever felt on your skin before. He needed to cool you down right away!

When he finally managed to get you back to his room, he laid you down carefully on his stone flatbed, your towel still draped carefully over your form. His eyes darted in every direction as he thought. What could he use, what could he use...ah! That's it!

Yunobo opened his chest where he kept some of his favorite collected gems: tons of rubies, sapphires, topazes and more. Finding the biggest sapphire he'd owned, Yunobo took it between his teeth and bit down, crunching the jewel into smaller pieces and crushing the rest with his hand. The cooling air of the activated gem's properties was icy to the touch. He wrapped the pieces in several strips of thickened cloth so as to not touch it directly to your skin. Next he cracked open an opal, squeezing the mineral water that lay dormant inside of it out into a small bowl. Nearly tripping over his own feet in a rush, Yunobo raced to your side. He touched the bundles of sapphire cooled cloths to your face, neck, arms, and legs. Your limbs were splotched angry shades of red from your overheating, but Yunobo planned to remedy that with each pass of the cloths on your skin. "Please, please..." he whimpered, gently pressing the rags to your cheek, "Please be okay, goro..." You would stir briefly, eyelids heavy as you struggled to open them. The feeling of something cool on your face had you leaning your head towards it. Last you remembered you felt unbearably hot and then everything went dark. Sluggish thoughts plagued your mind, but you eventually pieced together that you were definitely dehydrated - the too-warm hot spring and too-little amount of water you'd had throughout the day causing you to probably overheat. "Oh thank HYLIA!" an exasperated sigh sounded above you. You lifted your gaze to see a withdrawn hand five times the size of your own holding onto the small wrapped up cloth. Rounded cheeks sat under dark azure eyes, the same ones that looked down at you with considerable concern. "Yunobo...?" you croaked out hoarsely, trying to focus your shaky vision, "Did I...pass out?" Yunobo nodded slowly, "I'm pretty sure you did...gave me an awful fright," one of his fingers tucked under your palm while his thumb rubbed the top of your hand apologetically, "I'm sorry I didn't notice right away." You slowly tried to sit yourself upright with one arm, the other clinging to your towel; surprising the Goron, who moved quickly to help you with an 'Oh, hold on!', his hand stood firm behind your bare back. When you were finally sat, you gently squeezed what of his hand you had in yours. "You saved me...didn't you, Yuno?" His face flushed wildly, as he realized he was still touching your bare skin and quickly removed it. Clearing his throat, he sat at the edge of the bed with you.

"I knew something was wrong when you'd been gone for way longer than you usually are," his expression was thoughtful, but then his gaze shifted to meet your own. Eyebrows turned up in slight upset, he frowned, "When I found you, you were passed out at the edge of the back hot spring, goro...not gonna lie, I was kinda scared." Your heart sank with guilt, you never meant to scare him. Inwardly you cursed yourself for not making sure you were better hydrated. You forced yourself to smile as you reached up and pat his cheek, "Thank you...I would've been in serious trouble had it not been for you, sweet man."

His large hand scratched at the back of his head as he laughed softly at your affectionate words, "I was worried aboutcha, no need for thanks," suddenly he straightened up, "Oh! That reminds me, here--" Yunobo reached behind you, picking up a small steel bowl and handing it to you, "It's mineral water. Should help cool you down some more."

You immediately gulped it down, the harsh taste of ash unfortunately coating your tongue. Despite that, it felt good to have something to drink. The cool compresses that Yunobo had used on you accompanied by the hydration from the mineral water actually was starting to make you feel much better. He implored you rest, to which you didn't fight him, your body still feeling very heavy. A kiss was pressed to your forehead, followed by another cool cloth. You hummed happily both from your boyfriend's affectionate gesture and the refreshing cold the cloth brought your body. "Next time we'll make sure you have enough water in ya before you go sittin' in any hot springs," he laughed wryly, "Can't have ya passing out on me like that, precious - not sure my heart can take it, goro."

these past couple months have been Especially butt And ass btu the one oneshot or hcs you wrote where first contact rodimus tries taking care of a sick reader and is all "but we dont HAVE earth chickens- EARTH has earth chickens!" and him n brainstorm high fiving about the lube pits sent me down the best possible rabbit hole i didnt know i needed. i havent started on the comics yet but just about every other thing i learn about rodimus has me falling impossibly deeper in love with him- like????? the oobi/blah blah hand thing??? wiggling when he gets excited(??) and PLAYING DEAD when being asked a difficult question???? doodling too iirc and fucking around with magnus' name plate during a trial and tldr all this to say; that in tandem with reading your stuffs been the highlight of my year; thank you- and i hope this years been kind to you thus far and continues to be.

not a request so much as its an... imagine? me spitballing? but for the deity au, maybe reader/you wander into sun and moons temple at night- could be for whatever reason- maybe you need help with sleep? but you find the temple empty, and in the low light of your lantern, you notice how... run down, the temple looks, inside. You weren't getting much sleep tonight anyway, so you roll up your hypothetical sleeves and start trying to tidy up the place a little. There's only so much you can do because, you know, its a big temple and you're a tiny human and all, but you do your best with what you can reach.

Morning eventually rolls around, and when Moon decides to wander back into the temple to let sun take over, they find you- passed out in a corner or on a step somewhere- maybe surrounded by cleaning supplies or a cloth or something, but it doesn't take too much time for them to put two and two twogether.

it's funny, in their own roundabout kinda way, moon actually did help you with your sleeping problem ;3c
