sooooo many people in my family have security clearance. and so many of them are doing shit they can't talk about at all. and any number of my friends have resigned or been fired from jobs that required NDAs as a condition of severance. i've had friends who've had to deal with NDAs that covered the NDA they signed about the job. and idk. whether i'm reading crappy paperback thrillers or high quality sg:a fanfic, few things take me out of a story quite as quickly as improperly handled security clearance, mishandling of classified material, casual spilling of the beans, and NDA violations. eyes only and need to know mean something. there's a really thick line between telling people something and telling them the truth. idk. just because someone saw something does Not mean they get to know everything. no one knows what my uncle does for boeing. no one knows what my cousin does for the state department. mom can't talk about her cases. my sister in law does research she can't talk about for a lab we don't know about. and on and on and on. it's fine. we talk about other stuff. no big deal.

fuck starbucks and fuck multinational corporations in general but they are in no way shape or form supporting the israeli government, which is why, contrary to popular belief, they aren't on the bds list

they sued their union over taking a pro-palestine stance which is shitty, and their official corporate stance is both-sidesy nothingness, but if they came out and said "free palestine" that would have no material impact. because, again, unlike the companies on the bds list, they don't support the israeli state!!!

the point of bds isn't to pressure companies into putting out a fucking statement in support of palestine, it's to pressure them to end their material support of israeli apartheid!!! like, please understand that this is not a symbolic battle!!!!

so, again, fuck starbucks and their liberal wishy-washy statements and their anti-union bullshit, but a) neither bds nor the starbucks workers union are calling for a boycott and b) it is so much more useful to focus on the actual bds list. please.
