Half of this theory's been around for ages I'm just adding more but

Is this anything. I know the theory of Toni Kensa (which could easily be short/nickname for Tataki Kensaki, making both canon) and the Squid Sisters being related but.

Is it any coincidence that one of the promo characters literally has the exact same name with the exact same spelling and coincidentally is seen using. A charger (Marie's weapon) in the Direct he was first seen in. I'm gonna call him Saki with this because what else can I do when he refuses to tell me if it's his last name or not

I'm already going too far with this but there's also the fact that he primarily wears greyscaled colours (cough Toni Kensa before the Kensa brand existed). And I've heard people say the hipster cut is a budget Marie cut before. So that's A Thing.

I don't know what's going on and we haven't seen Saki in five years anyway so I don't know why I'm theorising now but I just find it weird that. The family crest on Marie's kimono, Toni Kensa, and now some random kid all share the same name. Especially since S2's main story mode puts this emphasis on family (Callie & Marie). And the fact that everyone who's ever modelled for Kensa has used black ink, implying that Kensa himself probably has black tentacles (like Callie does) or even white ones (like Marie.) and the greyscaled tentacles could easily be a family thing that just happens as you get older. Especially with the family thing since we know it doesn't happen to everyone (Captain 3 doesnt have greyscaled tentacles despite being older now than the Squid Sisters were in S1.) If it's true then that would mean the greyscaling happens around at least 17 years, which explains why S2 Saki has regular colours because he'd be 15-16 at the time (S2 protagonists are two years older than S1 protagonists are.) (I just realised my logic on that one is way off base and they'd actually be around eighteen by S2 but roll with me here. It still works, he'd just be a late bloomer.)

Anyhoo ive been high on this theory for like an entire day now but suffice to say. (1) Saki should've been the protagonist of S2 (2) in my head it's canon that the Squid Sisters, Saki and Toni Kensa are cousins (3) wait that kinda fits because the gaudy pair of black bracelets on Saki's shirt feel very Kensa (4) I'm going insane help.

Having said that, if it is canon that raises the question why didn't Marie directly ask Saki for help with Callie- but she could very well have not wanted to worry him or put him in danger, especially since S2 was kinda his time in the spotlight as a turf war player, especially since that's the one point in the timeline where neither the Squid Sisters nor Toni Kensa were getting attention. Now that I think about it, there's no real confirmation that Cuttlefish's family stopped with Callie and Marie's parents, and them two respectively. For all we know, Saki is Marie's little brother or something like that. For all we know there could even be four cousins to the Kensaki clan instead of the two Squid Sisters.

I'm gonna write a fic based on this actually. Do y'all wanna hear more of my crack theories about the promo kids because I also have one highlighting the fact that (a.) Tof-U and Kensaki seem to be opposing each other a lot (second in command to their leaders and/or killing each other midmatch) and also the fact that Half-Rim and N-Pacer are literally what happens if you give them fanchildren

Sheldon's Picks feature bright and colourful weapons often decorated with stickers, this collection contains some famous weapons such as:

The Heavy Splatling Remix: a bright and colourful splatling with point sensor's as the sub a helpful tool to stop flankers and sharking player's in their tracks, and it's special the coveted Booyah Bomb use this special to help flush out the enemy team, make them move out of an area, or keep them away and maybe even get a splat or two!

Next up is the Fresh Squiffer: a quick charge, one hit KO, short range weapon paired with suction bomb to keep opponents away from an area, off the tower, or a helpful tool to lure them into a trap! And it's special Ink Jet, want longer range? No problem! Take to the air with Ink Jet and finally take out that Splatling who's been pressuring your team!

And finally last up is the Aerospray PG: It's an Aerospray good at painting and surprisingly deadly up close, but this Aerospray is the original Booyah Bomb spammer! Also it's paired with burst bomb making dealing with enemies that much easier for our little friend!

The Kensa Collection

This Infamous monochrome collection features some of Splatoon 2's most annoying weapons to fight such as,

The Kensa Splattershot Pro: A mid range three shot kill weapon that can do anything with out having to do everything, it's kit features the ever so helpful splatbomb, a sub that's good for everything just like the weapon! And once again Booyah Bomb.

The Kensa 52.Gal: A "short" range two shot kill weapon with Splash wall a defense sub, that when it works can be infuriating to fight against, or get around if used to block off a hallway or objective. And once again Booyah Bomb!

(remember these last too weapons benefit greatly from Main Power Up, a main stay in Splatoon 2!)

And finally last but not least, The Kensa Sloshing Machine: If you had Splatoon 3 in the beginning of the game you'll remember the Sloshing Machine meta, well that was this weapons fault. It's a two shot kill weapon paired with Fizzy Bomb, a bomb that bounces back in the direction you throw it in, forcing your opponent to move making it easier for you to predict where their going and and then splat them! And it has the original splash down, which isn't very good....but that's fine because if it had a better special it would be too good....

The Toni Kensa twitter post remined me of hearing about how Marie has some sort of connection to it. Was there anything to that? I can't remember where I heard it

Marie's kimono has the Kensaki clan family crest. Toni Kensa's JP name is Tataki Kensaki. this is where the theory they're related come from.

beyond this nothing has been confirmed about the 2 being related, and for all we know, the splatoon team could just be reusing the 'kensaki' name twice. so for now it remains a theory. a game th

Inkfish associate black and white with anger and fear/illness respectively, so to have celebrities use those colours in a fashionable way ended up starting a completely new, controversial fashion trend. (Toni kensa moment)

Also Callie is a bigfin reef squid, whereas Marie is a bigfin reef/firefly hybrid (her dad was a firefly squid), hence why she’s got those bioluminescent blue spots. She has actually tried to hide them for a while as hybrids used to have a really bad reputation, but she stopped bothering after a year or so.

And finally the weird arrowhead tails they’ve got is an uncommon thing for some reef squid species to have, the more you know-

OTH: Day Off

Marina awoke to the sound of her own tossing and turning. She rolled over, half asleep, and found herself looking at the face of her girlfriend. Pearl laid there peacefully. I wonder what she’s dreaming about, Marina pondered.

She turned back onto her left side and finally opened her eyes fully. The sunlight was beginning to pour itself into the room through the large window, the curtain barely able to block most of the morning rays. It was seven o’clock, much too early for the sleeping princess on the right.

Marina slowly slipped out of bed and slid on her sandals before making her way out the door and down the hall. She immediately resigned herself to her office; she’d been trying to crack the code on her most recent project for ages. Marina worked well into the afternoon, not once pausing to take a break.

The door to the office made a loud creaking, and a faint shuffling was heard outside. Pearl came into the small, cluttered room, still not fully awake, and sat on the floor next to Marina’s chair. She waited for her girlfriend to acknowledge her, but Marina never did. So, she did the only logical thing, and she pushed aside a stack of papers that rested on the corner of the desk and pulled herself off the floor. Pearl hopped up so she was sitting on the desk and waited. Marina finally looked up from her laptop and she, albeit a bit startled, locked eyes with Pearl. Marina smiled softly, and leaned in to kiss her forehead. Pearl smiled, and then stretched her arms before jumping off the desk.

“C’mon, ‘Rina! You can’t waste the day in your office again!” Pearl determined. “Let’s do something! It’s not often that we have a whole day to just ourselves. No interviews, no autographs.”

“Aww, Pearlie! You know I want nothing more than to spend my day with you, but I really have to get this part done, and…” Marina trailed off, focusing back on her work. Pearl shifted to stand behind her.

“‘Rina, you can’t be serious. Eight is out with Three right now, Callie and Marie are hanging out with Acht. We even convinced Deep Cut to handle the Square’s news so we could take a day,” Pearl shook her head. “You work ALL THE TIME. Don’t think I haven’t caught you working late at night recently. I’ve been cold alone in the bed, ya know!”

Marina smiled sheepishly, almost in a grimace, and then sighed. Closing the lid of her laptop, she swiveled her chair around to fully face Pearl, who had already made her way to the door, leaning against the frame.

“I’m sorry, Princess,” Marina said, looking apologetically at her girlfriend. “You’re right. I suppose I do work quite a bit, and it’s the first day we’ve had in a while where we can be alone. Let me make it up to you.” She rose from her chair and walked over to Pearl. She was almost minuscule compared to Marina, but Marina gently took Pearl’s hands in her own anyway.

“How?” Pearl asked, now smiling.

“Let’s go to lunch. Or, err, a late lunch. Wherever you want.”

“And then what will we do?”

“We can take a walk in the park.”

“That sounds nice.”

“You think so?”

“I do.”

Marina went back to the bedroom to change into something more appropriate, and Pearl followed her in, sitting on the bed waiting. Marina emerged from the closet in a light blue dress and black Toni Kensa high-tops. Pearl blushed, slightly embarrassed that she was simply going to go out in her black ripped jeans, Cherry Kicks, and old band tee that she had already been donning.

“Gee, you make me feel so uncivilized sometimes, ‘Rina,” Pearl laughed. “Sometimes I wonder how someone like you ended up with someone like me.”

“What does that mean?” Marina turned to face Pearl.

“You’re just so beautiful, that’s all,” Pearl sighed. “And smart, and talented, and crazy awesome all the time. I’m just, you know, Pearl Houzuki, the short annoying one from the splatcast.” Pearl smiled, but it simply was there to distract from her eyes which held her true feelings.

“Pearlie! You’re not annoying, and you’re smarter and way cooler than I am, alright?” Marina walked over to the bed, almost floating, and held Pearl in her arms. “Nothing will ever change that. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

They decided to head to the new Inkopolis Square Crab-N-Go for lunch, taking their food outside and sitting at one of the more isolated tables. Marina and Pearl got a “Marigold’en Garden Greens” to share.

“Ya know, I never can wrap my head around how you think that tastes good,” Pearl teased, pointing at Marina’s “Salty Melon Special.”

“It’s the perfect blend of salty and sweet,” Marina nodded. “Kinda like you.”

Pearl looked down at her “Smoothie Especial” and smiled to herself.

Hand in hand, the pair walked down the pathway in the park, taking in the scenery. Other Inklings and Octolings were taking strolls, but the two only noticed each other. Marina dragged Pearl over to a pond where small fish were darting left and right.

“Isn’t it so pretty? How can something so dangerous be so beautiful?” Marina sighed, crouching down next to the water.

Pearl, arms crossed, stood above Marina and nodded. “Kinda like you, huh?”

Marina, flustered, turned around to look at Pearl and smiled. “Aww, Pearlie!”

Pearl helped Marina off the ground, and they continued walking.

Back at their home, Marina laid her head on Pearls lap as the two watched the Deep Cut splatcast, the sun setting in the west.

“You lip-sync, we drip ink!”

“Ay, ay, ay!”

The idols’ voices could be heard throughout the room.

“You know, they’re doing pretty great for newbies,” Pearl stated.

“Yeah, they’re all great! I know we have a kind of rivalry with them, but I’m glad we can all still be friendly,” Marina said happily.

“So, Shiver, have you heard the new Off The Hook song?” Frye rocked back and forth on her pillow.

Shiver bowed in thought, and then turned to face Frye. “‘We’re So Back,’ right?”

Marina shifted so she was sitting upright, eyes glued to the TV. Pearl simply sat back, crossing her arms over her chest in preparation for judgement.

“Yep, that’s the one! Everyone was getting HYPED this past splatfest now that they’re back from their world tour.”

“Ay! Ay? (I quite enjoyed the song! How about you two?)” Big man chimed in.

“It definitely wasn’t as good as us,” Frye said, almost teasingly, like she knew Marina and Pearl were watching. “But it was still pretty great! What about you, Shiv?”

“Here we go,” Pearl muttered.

Shiver closed her eyes and then smiled. “After ‘Suffer No Fools,’ I bet you all think I’m going to bash Off The Hook. But you’re wrong! ‘We’re So Back’ was the best song I’ve seen come out of Pearl and Marina in a while. At the very least, it has my approval.” She tapped her fan on the kendai.

“No way!” Pearl was standing now, having jumped up when she heard Shiver’s compliment.

“Can we just take a moment to give a shout out to Inkopolis Square? It’s been fun repping you guys today, too!” Frye said. “And also, to Off The Hook, hope y’all are having a great day!”

“And that’s it…for now.”

“Ay! (Let’s get outta here!)”

“From Splatsville, and Inkopolis, that’s a wrap.”

All three stood up. “Catch ya later!”

With that, Deep Cut disappeared from the screen, leaving the cooking program that had been on running in the background. Pearl was stunned, and Marina pulled her back onto the couch.

“Ohmg Pearlie! They liked our song!” Marina was practically singing.

“Yeah, if I’m being honest, I’m kind of surprised.”

“Maybe this means we can all just be friends now?” Marina was excitedly rambling now, talking about future songs and events.

“Maybe,” Pearl smiled.

Marina fell asleep lying on Pearl on the couch; it was already ten o’clock. Pearl, still wide awake, sat and mentally planned out their day tomorrow. Splatcast at eight, two hours of band work, another splatcast at ten, Eight and Acht come to the studio for two hours, another splatcast at twelve. Pearl sighed. It’s all just ink and repeat, she thought.

Pearl, who is much stronger than she looks, managed to carry Marina to the bedroom, setting her in the bed. Turning the lights off, Pearl smiled at her sleeping girlfriend, and she then hopped in the bed herself. However, she couldn’t stop thinking about what Shiver had said, and how happy it made Marina. Pearl made a mental note to thank Deep Cut tomorrow for taking over the splatcast today, and she fell asleep content with her day.

AH OH OKAY OKAY UH

THEY ALL WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER HERE ARE THEM WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG.

Nori and Don met because Don tried to act like a tough action sports guy to hide the fact he was a total nerdy dork and ended up getting hurt a lot, and Nori, being into doctor stuff, patched him up a lot- so they got to chat.

They ended up as 'highschool sweethearts' because there was no one else they were close to that they found any close connection with but now that they know they're both gay, they go to bars together hoping to wingman each other someone nice. They have currently had no luck.

Don and Umi are great friends and she really appreciates his company they're very silly.

Also! Don is related to the Kensas! That's why Marie has the Kensaki family crest on her kimono in Splatoon 2! Myeah! Thats it!

OC time! I wanted to design Callie and Marie’s parents. I noticed the fandom doesn’t touch on them much at all, so I wanted to see what I can do with them.

Corbin Cuttlefish and Sepia Kensaki (née Cuttlefish - Marie’s Splatoon 2 haori has the Kensaki family crest embroidered on the back, a family connection is very possible) are Cap'n Cuttlefish's kids, as well as Callie's dad and Marie's mom. Corbin, the younger brother, is a high school history teacher, the kind of cool teacher who gives his students bonus points on exams for doing things like performing ancient human dances - and yes, that means at least one of his students dabbed at him for extra credit. Sepia, the older sister, is an editor for Calamari County's biggest newspaper, and knows everything about everyone in the county - but good luck getting any of that information out of her, she’s no gossip.

Lola, Corbin’s wife and Callie’s mom, is a kindergarten teacher, and Callie takes after her with her perky attitude. Tad, Sepia’s husband and Marie’s dad, moved to Calamari Country from Inkopolis years ago to become a traditional string instrument craftsman. Toni Kensa(ki) is his nephew (and Marie's older cousin).

None of them know about the New Squidbeak Splatoon. The less they know about it, the better.

A Salmonid Snatcher, who is notorious for bringing back many eggs safely from battle. It is also an avid collector and horder of shiny objects, filling it's home with all sorts of trinkets. Some are "borrowed," others stolen, and still more bartered for.

This is Surge! (Full Salmonid name - "Keen Eye For All That Glitters, Hand of the Storm Surge") It is a Snatcher known for being great at retrieving Golden Eggs, but it has a penchant for taking just about anything shiny. Its home is filled with all sorts of trinkets and scraps, collected from all sorts of places including Runs, scrapheaps, and just about anywhere where stuff isn't nailed down. Surge isn't just a kleptomaniac though, and enjoys art. The various sheets of metal its obtained are etched with designs it carved itself. Driftwood is similarly whittled into small statuettes. The Horroboros tattoo circling its arm and shoulder was done by another Salmonid, but Surge drew up the design itself. If you like little guys with a penchant for mischief and that make art out of abandoned bits and bobs, you should vote for Surge!

Grew up in a small harbor town roughly an hour south of Inkopolis with her mom (a historian/archaeologist who commutes to Inkopolis twice a month for her job), her dad (a salvager), and her younger sister (who I will be getting to in a different submission). When she moved to Inkopolis, she was too shy to directly interact with most people and too engulfed in her studies to listen any music besides Wet Floor. Once she joined the New Squidbeak Splatoon, however, Marie encouraged her to be more open to other people (and introduced her to other music artists, so that Coral wasn’t stuck listening to the same 3 songs over and over). After saving the Great Zapfish and Callie, she was far more bubbly and even offered up the idea of having Agent 8 live with her once Cap’n Cuttlefish, Agent 3, and Agent 8 returned from their mission in the Deepsea Metro. As what she’s doing in the events of Splatoon 3, she’s attending college in Splatsville to pursue a career in the medical field, working shifts at Grizzco for income (she used to tolerate working there due to the good pay, but she resents it after finding out just how shady her boss really was), and playing Turf Wars with her friends and younger sister when she has free time.

- Arrived to Inkopolis Square as a shy, nerdy, and uncultured cephalopod. - Approached Marie to ask her if she was lost, ended up lured into Octo Canyon to retrieve the Great Zapfish (and also Callie). - Coral began to come out of her shell a bit more as she completed more missions as Agent 4. - Views Callie and Marie as the older sisters she never had. - Becomes the New Squidbeak Splatoon’s Medic shortly before the events of Splatoon 3. - Is Nixie’s older sister (and is the sister who was convinced to move to Splatsville with her). - Mained the Foil Flingza Roller, the Kensa Splattershot, and the Krak-On Splat Roller. - Other weapons she has used include: the Jet Squelcher, the regular Splat Roller, and the Custom Splattershot Jr. -Goes to college during the events of Splatoon 3 to pursue a career as a physician. - Didn’t mind working for Grizzco until the events of Splatoon 3. Now she only is working there for an income until she is out of college.
