y'all i'm trying to figure out what to cook over the next week sooo for some inspiration pls send me your fave recipes or a recipe from your country/culture that you think i should definitely try? 🥺🥺🥺

anything is welcome, i don't really have any dietry restrictions. write it out for me or send me a link to a written/video recipe, send me a pic of a handwritten recipe, etc... however you like <3

bonus points if:

it can be pre-prepared and stored in the freezer to be eaten on a busy uni day where i don't have the time and/or energy to cook (and do a million dishes)

little to no: button mushrooms, eggplants, zucchini or pork (exception: bacon and ham) bc i simply just don't like those. meaning pls no dishes with those as a main ingredient where that is the main taste (it's fine if it's just a little where the thing gets overshadowed by other things)

you provide some fun facts about it (anything you wanna tell me about it, for example why you like it or how popular this dish is in your country/culture or why it is important in your country/culture or what the dish means to you personally/what you associate with it like for example if your grandma used to make it when you were sick/etc etc)

snowman got her new bike, and i adjusted the handlebars and brake levers on her old one for amadeus

it'll be a few months if not years before gremlin is tall enough for amadeus' bike, tho, so that one was just banished to the back of the shed for now

god I love gustav mahler so much. you hear all these conductors talking about his works like “he’s so profound. his music is life changing. he was so in tune with the universe” and like. sure. but then you read about him and he’s this little gremlin man who stomps through the woods bellowing folk songs and scaring children. throws his boots at the wall to get people to shut up. fuckin loves marillenknödel and apples. like a LOT. disappears on like six hour hikes. stomped at the ground like a horse when he got excited.

but then there’s other stuff you learn too. he will stop at fucking NOTHING just to be heard, to the point where it destroys him. loves kids, despite the inextricable link between childhood and death showing up time and again in his life and works. tragically codependent on his psychologically abusive wife, to the point where his last known written words were “to live for you, to die for you, almschi” despite the fact that she’d cheated on him- he’d restricted her creative outlets and their daughter died of scarlet fever- but then she also fetishized him, manipulated him, and took advantage of his final illness. he was so bleedingly aware he was ahead of his time musically, and saw himself as “thrice homeless” due to his bohemian jewish ethnicity in the austrian empire. he was known to be a draconian conductor, making furious and near-impossible demands of his orchestra- but also one of the best of his time. he was said to have once cried when he accidentally killed a fly, and held it, telling it, “there there, don’t fret; you too are immortal.” he worked himself so hard, he had visions of his own death. he was terrified of tempting fate.

ohhh nice!! ok foods:

1. Kardinalschnitten (cardinals's cake)

2. Marillenknödel (apricot dumplings)

3. Backhendl (basically fried chicken)

1. the forests

2. vienna (my second home in my heart)

3. the alps (i know very basic but they're really just that pretty)

holidays/events:

1. Sonnenwende (summer solstice, honestly this is here for nostalgia bc it used to be the best as a kid with like a huge bonfire)

2. Donauinselfest (it's a huge music festival in vienna and also completely free!!)

3. Christkindlmärkte (christmas markets especially in vienna)

30:  What makes a house look like home?

Interesting question. I think it is the state of the kitchen: jars of spices, boxes of tea, well used pots, colourful towels, a coffee maker always on the stove. Also pictures, and fairy lights.

35: Liquid soaps or bar soaps?

I don't really like bar soaps, even though they are easier to carry while travelling. Liquid soaps make your life so much easier

48: Thoughts on apricots? 

Listen. Apricots are a Superior Fruit. Their skin is the softest thing in the world. It makes you feel like being hugged. The gradient of colour is something Caravaggio could only dream of. The consinstency? Divine. The flavour? Jesus take me now. They are good to make jam and pie, and when dried they are the perfect snack. And Marillenknödel taste like childhood. Peaches dream of being this good. Apples are definitely jealous.

(I realize these are an awful lot of opinions to have about fruit, but, well...)
