Halloween 2003 at Maxis: The Social Bunny
Tumblr media
At the Maxis 2003 Halloween Costume Contest, we were visited by the Social Bunny. In the new version of The Sims, the Social Bunny appears only to those who are in need of extra social, so it's not such a good sign that we could all see it.
Photos courtesy of Komei Harada and Andreas Ramos.
Tumblr media
The social bunny hops into the middle of the crowd to begin a few impromptu socials as (L to R) Kelly Riley, Marion Gothier, Kevin Byall, and Emmy Toyonaga watch.
Tumblr media
Poor social bunny! Someone has rejected the bunny's social attempts, and now he walks away sad. Who wouldn't want a hug from a soft, fuzzy, ratty, stained, one-eyed bunny? Kevin Byall and Charles London watch this sad sight.
Tumblr media
Here's the bunny with a collection of other spirits from the Costume Contest. Back row (L to R): Lisa del Toro, Alvin Go, the Social Bunny, unknown, Justin Graham, BJ West, Cory Tsang, Kevin Byall, David Benson, Wendy Bliss.
Front row: unknown, Suzanne, Jenna Chambers, Gretchen Carlson, unknown.
Tumblr media
Whew! After a hard day of spreading sociality everywhere, the bunny waves goodbye.
Tumblr media
At right, the bunny takes a well-deserved rest. The bunny learned to respect the entertainers who populate our nations' amusement parks... those heads are hot!
Tumblr media
But you can't keep a bunny down for long! Later that night, the bunny popped back up at Patti Wilson's Halloween Party. Patti's friend Naomi looks on as the bunny sees more people in need of social. It's unclear how the bunny's eye returned for this picture, when in fact it was sewn shut until after the evening was over.

Pay attention to the first 2 photos. They have a printed screenshot on the wall that shows a hot tub. But the UI in this screenshot is not from E3 2003, but from earlier builds with Purple UI:

Best of Seville: Sightseeing, Cuisine, Flamenco & Semana Santa
Seville, a city where history echoes through its cobblestone streets and architectural wonders, beckons travelers to uncover its treasures. As a fashion enthusiast with a penchant for cultural immersion, my recent journey to Seville was nothing short of enchanting. Севилья, город, история которого отражается в мощеных улицах и архитектурных чудесах, манит путешественников открыть для себя свои…

Women were meant to stay at home and take care of the household. And to take their minds off things and have some sort of entertainment, they turned to make colourful and practical Moroccan rugs.

I'm not knowledgeable enough in other culture to write it but you know that post about how even when people aren't in our life anymore (for whatever reason) they are still "there"? How you eat certain food because an old friend of your liked it that way and showed it to you, how you listen to certain song because your neighbor's liked it. How you got the habit to drink in blues cup because your sibling drank in the red one etc?
Well, I think it would be very neat if instead of being typical British ™ immortal merlin was with a mosaic of culture because of the friends and lovers he met, with habit that he created along the years.
Merlin who make coffee because arthur want to try it but he makes it like Vietnamese like to do it.
Merlin who drink his tea like marrocan.
Merlin who took the habit to slap his things when he thinks it's time to get up and leaves like his German friend.
Merlin who make a old dish that can’t be found anywhere else because it disappeared with the Black Death.
Merlin who still like to eat his dish on bread, have a table beer when he eat and drink his wine with spices
Anyway I don't have any more ideas but if you do please share what you would think merlin would do!!

Sometimes I think about pet names and words of affection in different languages
Like my fave in Hebrew is Haim Sheli which translates to "my life" or Neshama which translate to "soul" and also "Kapara" which translates to "redemption" and basically says something in the lines of "I really hope you will reach redemption". I also love Yafa/Yafe Sheli (my beatutiful).
In Arabic I like saying Inta Omri (you are my life) and Hayati (different way to say 'my life'). For like a child (or dogs because I have 0 boundaries and I love dogs) I also like Shimdura which translates to something in the lines of "may the whole world revolve around you")
I thought about it while reading fanfics as a Hebrew/(a bit of) Arabic speaker (I'm Jewish with Marrocan heritage) and using words like Baby, Sweety, Darling etc. to a loved one is kind of weird, cause I feel sometimes they're missing some sort of sentiment. Love and Beautiful are good options but they feel somewhat formal to me? Less of an everyday thing like... a pet name... In Hebrew we also use ending like -i and -ush to still use the name but also make it affectionate and special in a way (like -chi in Japanese I guess?)

I've been stolen constantly here in Milan and not by homeless people or pickpockets. The people that most do that are italian adolescents, africans, marrocans or blue eyed white colour skin younger(s), I call them "the white savages" because they do not speak English, Italian, Spanish, French or German as their native language and they are bad mannered people - I think they come from slavs and balkans countries.
During the day, that kind of people comes near me to threaten me by calling me names, monitoring me and in groups for harassment and threatening to beat me.
At night they take advantage of my exhaustion nap that I take seated in a bus stop bench for opening my backpack or my supermarket plastic shopping bag for stealing from me items that I need for everyday use like nail clippers, my cap, soap, hair brush, teeth brush, hygiene pads, and so on. The most strange thing is that the "white savages" - the light colour eyed white skin colour younger(s) - think they have the right to do that even if most of them are illegals here.

Today was the usual mixed bag. Readmore for animal death (not my pets)
Ended the day with another Barbie bad cam viewing as a palette cleanser, noticed more outfits this time around. Such a delight.
Started the day with quick chores then tomorrow's grocery pickup by the replacement carer we managed to find for a full 2h a week 🙃. (Usually we pay someone happy to work off books but thought this agency might be a little more thoughtful). It just is, so we're making do.
I walked one dog after the other at daybreak. I've been slowly taming the very scaredy Gargouille, he now comes slowly close for scritches and a peanut.
Tumblr media
Yesterday someone left out a bunch of near new shoes and I carried them home (a small part of why my shoulder hurts) as they were roommate sized. She kept 4 pairs.
The rest was bagged and ready to go to the second hand store. I left the sandals, marrocan slippers and some large boots. As with all previous clothing or electronics dropoffs, they were thrown into the bin even though we have multiple clothes bins and second hand drop off points in town.
Tumblr media
I find that very odd, someone clearly wants to share their cast offs and someone else doesn't want that left out more than half a day and tosses it instead of using the two second hand stores (clothes are less than 5€ each like 5€ would be for a coat, the point is to reuse and teach folks repair)
On the second walk for Lily (i can't handle both dogs, they both walk very differently because of the age difference and both have strong temperaments), the walk goes by the cemetery and sis had said she'd seen someone complain about a dead cat. So I went to the bins opposite the gate and there he was, a large ginger cat, flattened by a car and rotting under the bins. We're supposed to take them to the vets for incineration but I'm not able to and he'd been there a while. I acted on instinct, grabbed him with a dog poop bag and placed him inside the bin 1 and started looking for bags to wrap him in. In bin 3 there was a ripped bag of school papers and junk so i emptied it out and gently placed the cat in it, tied knots in the top and tear. It's not the burial or sanitary incineration he deserves but it felt so disrespectful to see him just decaying on the tarmac.
Bin 2 contained 2 stainless steel branded dog bowls - they'll go to one of the local animal rescues. I didn't dig further, I was feeling drained from a dozen different emotions about that ginger cat. This is a caravan parking lot on weekends so it could have been from abandoned dogs. We're a small tourist town on the road to large tourist destinations.
Last week I found a muzzle and collar at the car wash and I don't know if it's one of the dogs that's been spotted loose in town. Animal control has already caught two who are now up for adoption since vacations started in july. The stray cats and dead cats are adding up as people who rent their house out for the summer leave for *their* vacations and holiday makers drop off their cats during a pit stop.
They'll probably do another massive "catch, spay and release" for the cat population in autumn.
As much as I rant about outdoor cats killing wildlife and our neighbours who let their dog roam at night (she's a sweetie who sits most of that time on their doorstep), the fact is that it's easier to talk about than the culture of disposing of pets. Even if the best case scenario works out, it's a huge amount of volunteer work and the new owners have to discover the animals quirks and fears instead of a simple form and a small fee when you surrender them.
The law is very slowly catching up.
I'm far happier with the new age of no-consent laws but it would be nice to see some lawmaking about pet owning : some basics to agree to before you buy and fines for not just the cruelty but the chaos for animal control, drivers, vets and shelters during the summer hols.
I got Lily in july 8 years ago from a local shelter. Talia was a surrender to the same shelter around Christmas. So so so worth the expenses and work.

At my new job at the break a coworker asked us (group of 16) who do we thing will win the world cup. I said i hope its marroco bc that would be a historical moment for africa, europe and all "underdogs" in the soccer industry. Also, i want to see marrocans make european cities shake! They looked at me like i was crazy and i didnt understand why since i was talking to a pretty diverse group... later i realized its bc all those diverse people are christians. They didnt see marroco as part of their "underdog" group.
I hope marroco wins the world cup and i hope the fans can celebrate without being scared!!!
