A romantic concept of Darth Maul (Star Wars) if you will?
Sure! I think he's a neat (and tragic) character within the universe he's in. Although at the same time... his motivations are rather simple.
Yandere! Darth Maul Concept
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Possessive behavior, Violence, Murder, Kidnapping, Isolation, Biting, Marking, Forced relationship.
Tumblr media
Maul, like Vader, is another apprentice manipulated by the Sith.
Except his manipulation came first.
From a young age he was fed the seeds of being a Sith due to his fighting prowess.
Nowadays all he really knows is hate.
There's just... so much to hate.
Especially after Kenobi sent him into exile.
Maul, despite having his mind put back together, probably never recovered from his thirteen years of isolation on a trash planet.
Maul is described as obsessive already in canon.
He's this way towards power, revenge, hatred, and rage.
He embodies so many negative emotions due to the Sith who manipulated him.
Using his training, Maul survived death through hate and became ruthless and manipulative.
He's not afraid to use fear to make others obey him.
Although... He is not devoid of care.
Maul is shown to care for his mother and brother(s).
So if he found interest in someone to be his partner, that care is shown even if he's mostly intimidating.
Although, his behavior isn't going to change much just because he cares about you.
Maul is the type of person to murder innocents to lure Jedi out to kill.
Naturally Maul will also want to isolate his obsession.
He feels you're all he needs and you're one of his obsessions.
I can see Maul breaking a Jedi in to corrupt them if he likes them romantically.
It would drive him insane at first as he's supposed to kill Jedi.
But the idea of breaking this specific one in, of corrupting them, making them his...
He'll let that slide.
Other alternatives include you not being Jedi or Sith, probably still Force Sensitive but you haven't chosen a path.
That or you're an adult Sith he found a way to manipulate into listening to him. (Like an apprentice or something after your own master was slain....)
Regardless, as expected of a Sith like him, people will die.
Maul has been shown he's capable of kidnapping if it aids him, and obviously murder is instinct.
That alone makes him terrifying.
But when he takes over Mandalore?
Even worse.
Maul does anything for power... and with that power he plans to make you obey him too.
Maul seems like he'd break you down just to build you back up.
He enjoys obedience, be that willingly or through fear.
The love of a Sith is twisted, especially with Maul.
While Vader has loved once and would seem more "caring" to the one he adores.
Maul has always known being a killing machine.
His love for you would be more rough, maybe primal in a way.
He's possessive, I can see Maul nibbling on his obsession's neck or shoulder to vent that.
Maul doesn't plan to attack you or hurt you physically (much).
It's those around you who are in the most trouble.
Normally, in Maul's culture, the female chooses the male.
However, it's obvious he's playing the rules differently here (especially if you aren't even female or a different race)
You can't choose any other partner if they're dead, right?
Even then I imagine Maul still tries courting you, it's just you... don't have much of a choice but to accept him?
You can barely even speak to others without hearing that signature noise of a saber being activated.
You and his family are what he cares for other than revenge and power.
Although, in Maul's life, he loses his family eventually.
When left with nothing else, Maul becomes even more suffocating.
He hides you away, and as much as he'd rather not, restrains you.
You're the only person he has now, the only one he needs.
To him, you should feel the same way.
He's your partner, your mate, you'll need him as much as he needs you if he isolates you
Maul is a yandere who would force you to need him.
He'll force you to be addicted to him, to give into desire and have him as yours.
Why fight him when he can give you all you want?
He can read you, he can give everything...
Just give in to him...
You're his to corrupt, his to have, his love... and ultimately, his to own.

Star Wars - Darth Maul NSFW
edgy bitches unite
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex): he doesn't feel like he needs aftercare and wouldn't even know where to start with you, but he'll let you lay your head on his lap as he strokes your hair till you fall asleep.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s): i think he is a sucker for marking you up, so he tends to kind of obsess over different parts of you body, anywhere he can sink his teeth in, anywhere he’ll see a bruise or hickey bloom.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person): did someone order a facial, he'll finish on you and swipe his cum with his thumb to shove between your lips, ordering you to clean up your mess. he gets impatient after he cums however, be prepared for him to literally force an orgasm out of you if you havent finished by the time he has.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs): loves hates sex, loves when you fight with him, argue with him in any way, he wants you to get rough with him as much as he gets rough with you, slap him and pull him to you, sink your teeth in him and he is in love, he gets restless easily, he needs this release.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?): definitely has experience, he knows what he is doing and through some rough trial and error he finds exactly what makes you tick
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual): he likes folding you and specifically holding you in positions that are slightly uncomfortable, pushes your legs a bit too far apart or presses your knees against your chest, wants to hear you whine for him or watch you take it for him, fight or submit.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc): more serious, will growl about finding him funny or something if you laugh, his smirk sharp almost challenging you
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.): much like the rest of him he is hairless even before he had his bottom half forcibly removed by our dear obi-wan kenobi
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…): not particularly good with the romantic side of things, but he does pull out some surprisingly sweet nicknames in the middle of it all, he coos them to you in almost sweet mockery, but he does mean them, sometimes
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon): wants you to watch him, he strokes himself languidly almost lazily as he looks at you, head cocked to the side, the only telltale sign that he is focused on you the fire behind his eyes
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks): spitting, choking, cock warming etc
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do): anywhere and everywhere, he has no shame and makes a point of showing it to everyone so no one gets any funny ideas about you.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs): not much he can't be talked into at least once
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going): an argument, peace was never an option, he doesn’t want someone emotionally weak next to him, even though he wants you to submit to him he still enjoys the fire in you, he is always the most horny after you two argue
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc): likes receiving and giving equally, not necessarily out of the goodness of his heart, in both cases its to show how he owns and knows your body, its about dominating you
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.): fast and rough, he takes you as if he has a point to make
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.): doesn't feel particularly for or against them, he doesn't like to be rushed but he won't deny you or himself
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.): he can be talked into trying just about anything with the right wording and putting him in the right mindset, sweet talk him, plead for him, paint a pretty image of what you want of him and sure who is he to say no
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…): he has a lot of stamina from all the training he has and even if he doesn't he for sure isn't backing away from you until you are trembling
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?): he’s fine with you using them, but he wants to be the one that personally handpicks the toys for you
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease): likes to get to the point quickly, teasing him doesn't work, he will have you bent over in front of everyone if you push him too far
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make): loud and he doesn't care who hears him, he grows quiet only when it's to encourage you to get louder
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice): i can really see him being into cock warming, either sitting on his lap all pretty and patient, or on your knees with your head leaned on his thigh and his cock in your mouth
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words): knot? knot! and dare i say, he could be pierced , who knows, those tattoos definitely go all the way there though
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?): once he sets his mind on something he is really focused until he gets it done, this translates to his sex life as well, once he gets that one thought of you, in any way, even just a glimpse of something like a memory of your previous encounters, he has set his mind to it and will make sure to visit you the second he has the chance
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards): it takes him a while and he never quite sleeps peacefully but he at least tries to not bother you and wake you up once you are out

Do you ever just...wake up and think about how Obi-wan was, for most of his life, Maul's reason to live?
Let me explain, and this is one of the main reasons I was drawn to ObiMaul in the first place. (long ramble below)
We're all aware of the events at the reactor fight, and it'd be an understatement to say it was a very hostile first encounter. But it's in the aftermath where the dynamic gets interesting.
Maul survived on his own, for years, with only his top half. As a former biology major, sometimes I think about how possible this would be in real life, if at all. It would be insanely uncomfortable at best, and impossible at worst. But through the excruciating pain, Maul survived, fueled purely by his intense hatred/obsession with Kenobi (and some star wars darkside magic, I'm sure).
Maul says this himself when first meeting Obi-wan again in season 4 of The Clone Wars:
"You would never imagine the depths I'd go to to stay alive, fueled by my singular hatred...for you."
Imagine being on the brink of death, with half of your circulatory system GONE, your heart beating irregularly, and your "lower half" being in constant pain, but still finding something to live for, and living...for YEARS. That's impressive. Hate-filled or not, it's hard to deny that for that time, thoughts of Obi-wan literally kept Maul alive for a decade.
Maul comes back to the series having been left for dead by Sidious, with spider legs he made himself, and no sense of time and a destroyed sense of sanity. Yet, he lives.
And additionally, revenge on Sidious is only second in his thoughts to his revenge on Obi-wan, even though Sidious is technically the one who left him for dead. Since Maul can't sit still, he did many other things during the Clone Wars in accordance with his own ambitions, likely to attempt to reclaim that part of his life that had been lost to Lotho Minor, but that's a tangent for another post.
He gets revenge on Obi-wan (I guess) by killing Satine, but even that isn't enough for him, as evidenced by the Satine hate shrine that we see in Rebels, when Ezra visits Maul's cave on Dathomir:
Tumblr media
(on a side note, there is no sane heterosexual explanation for this^, I'm sorry/j)
Why would you keep a memento of someone you've killed? Why would you cross out their eyes? Maul didn't hate Satine that much, and it's my opinion that he did this because she was important to Obi-wan.
And that brings me to my next point: Rebels Maul
Y'all.... there's a reason the title of my blog is "Twin Suns Changed My Brain Chemistry", because I vaguely had feelings about these two in Clone Wars, but Rebels really cemented this dynamic for me.
I cannot emphasize enough that in Rebels, Maul thinks Obi-wan Kenobi is dead. Whether he got killed in Order 66 or when Vader and the Inquisitors started purging Force Users, there was maybe a .000001% chance that any Jedi, especially Obi-wan, would have survived that. And yet. When we enter Rebels, we find Maul on Malachor, stuck on the planet looking for the Sith holocron.
WHY is he trying to find the Sith holocron? In Maul's own words:
"As for me, I...seek something much simpler, yet equally elusive... Hope."
Hope? That surely isn't a Sith ideal. It's revealed later that the only reason Maul wants to combine these ancient artifacts is to learn whether or not Obi-wan Kenobi is alive. I shit you not.
This implies that Maul has had Hope that Obi-wan has been alive for what... 15 years? That's a long time. At this point, Maul may be like, 49 or 50. He has been fixated on Obi-wan for 30 years of his life. Thoughts of Obi-wan kept him going and going and going for 3/5ths of his life. Even when he thinks Obi-wan has died, he spends 15 years trying to find him, just hoping that he is alive. But for what?
It's unclear to me what Maul, in canon, really desires from Obi-wan. But one thing for sure is that Obi-wan acts as a...source of emotions for Maul. A source of feelings, and a reason to keep going through times that other characters would give up.
Other characters may have survived, but Maul lived because of Obi-wan. Through being bisected, the Clone Wars, being chased by Vader and the Inquisitors, and through periods of despair.
And before the end, he just wants to find his reason to live again, and dies in his arms.

LGBTQ+ Disabled Characters Showdown Round 1, Wave 2, Poll 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A character being totally canon LGBTQ+ and disabled was not required to be in this competition. Please check qualifications and propaganda before asking why a character is included.
Check out the other polls in this wave and prior here.
Riku-Kingdom Hearts
Qualifications/Propaganda:
So Riku is neither canonically LGBTQ+ nor canonically disabled but there's quite a slew of subtextual evidence. And this subtext is considered basically canon due to the creator's (Tetsuya Nomura) stance on media, which is that he enjoys leaving clues for players to figure out. So while Riku is never explicitly said to be queer or disabled, there's clear evidence on both accounts.
So first: Riku is gay. There's no doubt about it (despite what the dudebros insist...) Riku is gay for Sora, his childhood best friend/former rival. Long story short, Riku was afraid of Sora's friendship with this girl Kairi, didn't realize those feelings were gay jealousy, and he got gaslighted by the Mistress of All Evil, MALEFICENT HERSELF, into believing that Sora didn't care for him anymore. He went Dark Mode, destroyed their home, and antagonized Sora for most of the first game. But then he gets trapped in the Realm of Darkness after Sora kicked his ass for the millionth time and he realized how *sora voice* stUpid he was being and helps Sora stop the apocalypse (saved the world counter: 1) Then Riku goes through a whole arc of "wow i was an idiot. sora will never forgive me and i have Darkness in my heart and i need to protect sora while he's in a year-long medically-induced coma to undo his amnesia" and. idk. theres a Lot of stuff. So much so that someone made a 6-HOUR video essay about it! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll17V9DJr7g)
Riku is also likely suffering from chronic pain. Throughout the year that Sora is in a coma, he fights Sora's Nobody, Roxas, to get Sora's memories back. During the fight, Roxas breaks Riku's wrist, and it never heals correctly. Throughout the finale of Kingdom Hearts 2, the next game chronologically, Riku wears a wrist brace that goes largely unexplained. During the final boss fight, Riku throws himself in the way of Xemnas (the Big Bad) to protect Sora, getting hurt twice in the process; being struck so hard in the shoulder that he's flung halfway across the battlefield, and then hit in the side so badly that it causes him to collapse as soon as the adrenaline from the fight fades. It's likely that none of these injuries healed properly, as even in Kingdom Hearts 3 (which is like 5 games later. dont ask) he has some interesting tells; his walk is incredibly stiff and his battle stance changes, likely because of the strain put on his wrist for the old stance. (https://www.tumblr.com/nobodyriku/706960754548604929 shows this pretty well, though i can't find the other post i had in mind but whatever)
Anything Else?:
soriku endgame actually <3
Darth Maul-Star Wars
Qualifications:
Maul is canonically disabled; he was bisected at the waist by one Obi-Wan Kenobi, but SOMEHOW did not die, and was in fact teleported into a garbage dump, where he proceeded to live as a spider cyborg for the next 12 years, when he was found and rescued by his long-lost brother. He has used prosthetic legs of one kind or another ever since, and in Rebels, he uses a cane. He is also definitely gay. In The Clone Wars cartoon, he is OBSESSED with Obi-Wan, to the point that Obi-Wan is his entire personality and the entirety of his life goals. All he wants is to kill him and cause him suffering in revenge for being cut in half and subsequently abandoned by his master. However, this obsession is. Definitely homoerotic. Dude fights Obi-Wan naked at one point (the animators forgot that people with prosthetic legs still have to wear pants). He literally builds a hate shrine to Obi-Wan's dead ex-girlfriend, who he killed, AFTER he kills her. In Rebels, once he is able to merge the two holocrons and ask any question he wants, he asks where Obi-Wan is. The answer is Tatooine, of course. He goes there, has one final fight with Obi-Wan, and is fatally wounded. HOWEVER. He dies in Obi-Wan's arms. He dies being HELD GENTLY by Obi-Wan. I cannot adequately explain how insane that is. Makes me froth at the mouth. Anyway.
Propaganda:
I love this severely fucked-up dude so much. He dedicated almost 20 years of his life to a single-minded obsession with Obi-Wan Kenobi, an obsession which literally kept him alive when he was chopped in half in a garbage pit, stuck in a hole on Planet Sith, and just generally attempting to live after being raised for nothing but violence as a child. He is missing half his bones, many vital organs, and got his two biggest blood vessels sliced right open, and yet REFUSED to die. He then became a spider cyborg. The first thing he did when coming onboard the Ghost was critique the interior design. He took over an entire planet just to get a guy to notice him. He was kidnapped as a child and tortured nonstop for the first 20 years of his life, resulting in an attachment style where he can only conceptualize relationships as a hierarchy (master/apprentice), so he searches constantly for an apprentice, and even treats his brother as one; despite how he very clearly just wanted a brother, he didn't know how to be in an equal relationship. He does absolutely nothing but cause problems for people-- be they Jedi or Sith. Ahsoka once released him from a magic strait-jacket as a "distraction" and he immediately began tearing panels off of the walls and decapitating people with them. He has a death grip on my brain.

The Lovers of Obi-Wan Kenobi
Siri, the Childhood Crush: Siri was a friend more than a lover but Obi-Wan was aware of the fact they had mutual crushes on each other in early padawanhood, that she would’ve been willing if he was, but logically neither were in a place to do anything with it. Obi-Wan was too nervous at that point to ruin their friendship or their place in the Jedi, but still, he thinks of it sometimes as an old man on Tatooine when Siri has long passed into the Force. Maybe in another life, Siri could’ve been one of the great loves of his life, but in this one, she was a childhood friend, a creche co-conspirator, and a much-needed ally on countless missions, and Obi-Wan still loves her for all of that.
Quinlan, the Fun One: What they had was a fling between long-time friends to blow off steam between missions and no more. They never even fully broke the Council’s rules, not in the way they both would later in life. It was an understood thing that Padawans were going to act like teenagers. Still, Quinlan helped Obi-Wan figure out some things about his identity he had only begun to truly think about on Lenahra, and besides that, even with all the headaches he gave Obi-Wan, he was a trusted friend and brother. The fact that he saw Quinlan’s name on the Path wall is one of the few happy facts he has to cling to, and Obi-Wan hopes that he’s doing well, wherever he might be.
Satine, the Regret: No, that wasn’t fair, he still loved Satine, still appreciated the amazing leader she was, and he would always look back at their time on Mandalore with a deep fondness, even despite the ever-persistent threat of danger. No, the issue wasn’t Satine; it was him. He regretted not leaving the Order for her, and more than that, he regretted what he brought upon her. He knew deep down upon first seeing Korkie that he was his; his hair said it all. But like so much back then, he wouldn’t let himself see it. He should’ve left the Order as soon as he met Korkie, become the father and lover he should’ve been all those years ago, but he was too loyal to the Jedi, too loyal to Anakin, and left the window of opportunity close shut behind him. He knew that Maul only attacked and killed Satine to hurt him, that from a certain point of view all the destruction done to Satine’s beloved home planet was his fault, and if he was a weaker man, he would’ve hated himself for it. And in his weaker moments, he did, but in the end, he was still a Jedi, and Jedi did not, could not, dwell on regrets. So in the end, he did what he had always done with Satine and let her go.
Ventress, the Flirtation: What he had with Ventress was never anywhere close to true love, merely a game between the two of them. Still, Obi-Wan always held out hope that there was good in her, that she could be brought back to the light despite it all. When Quinlan came to him after her death, Obi-Wan was filled with equal grief and hope, for even though she had died, she was at peace and had finally come back to the light fully before going to join the Force, and really, that was all he ever wanted for her. He hopes one day Anakin can achieve the same.
Maul, the Enemy: He didn’t love Maul, not after he caused the death of two of the people he loved the most. But he also couldn’t bring himself to hate him either, not after knowing what happened to him, and this is the duality of feeling that leads to him killing Maul, though with a heavy heart and only to protect Luke. Only to cradle the monster in his arms, let him die with a sense of peace for the first time in his life and give him a full burial. What Obi-Wan didn’t know, couldn’t possibly know, and possibly not even Maul knew, was that the Zabrak’s obsession perhaps could’ve been love, a feeling that the dark-sider didn’t know how to deal with, having been shown no love himself, so it became the worst kind of hate. That perhaps in a different life, one where the Jedi found Maul before Sidious could twist him into nothing but a cruel and brutal weapon, Maul could’ve been one of Obi-Wan’s great loves, but that wasn’t to be.
Cody, the True Love: Obi-Wan respected his clone commander as soon as they were introduced after the Battle of Geonosis. But it took a long time for that relationship to grow to full-on romantic love, and longer still for them to both admit it due to how dutiful Obi-Wan and Cody both are. It wasn’t until a month after the death of Satine that Obi-Wan decided he didn’t want Cody to become another regret, and their relationship finally started. Obi-Wan was careful as could be to not let his attachment get out of hand. He knew Cody was a more than capable soldier, but still, if the worst was to happen, Obi-Wan made his peace with that fact. Except, he didn’t know what the true worst thing that could happen was, as no one could. He didn’t know why Cody fired on him, but he didn’t feel betrayed, not in the same way he did with Anakin. He knew that Cody, his Kote, the man who had gotten him through countless battles and who he loved and who had called him cyar’ika in return, would never ever do such a thing. Obi-Wan wished he could reveal that he was alive, but it was too much of a security risk. He just hoped that wherever Cody was, he knew that it wasn’t his fault.
Anakin, the Soulmate: He didn’t love Anakin in the same way he loved Satine or Cody; he couldn't see a man he helped raise in such a light. But oh, did he love him. Anakin was his son, brother, and best friend all in one—the other half of his soul. Perhaps this is why he didn’t see the warning signs: the sudden spikes of violence, the inability to let go of attachments, or the hold Palpatine had on him. Even after everything that happened, he still loved Anakin; he just couldn’t save him. He spent years dwelling on how everything could go wrong. It wasn't until a second encounter with Vader that he was finally able to let him go and accept that Anakin was dead; all that was left in his place was a dark shadow. In the dark hours of the morning, when he's most vulnerable, it's always Anakin's ghost that comes to haunt him. Perhaps it’s ironic then that Anakin is the reason why his other past loves don’t haunt him as badly anymore. After all, he was the one who taught him that nothing good comes from dwelling on those who have already passed into the Force.

This is the most bare-bones recap you could do of “What the fuck is Crimson Dawn?” and it still takes up a page and a half of comics!  It doesn’t even mention Maul’s name!  To be fair, the people recounting this don’t know Maul’s name, so this works narratively, but what gets me is that I really do enjoy how Star Wars is structured, especially with how it’s this giant cascade of dominoes. Think about how complicated all of this is! - Maul is given to Sidious by Mother Talzin, he’s raised as a Sith apprentice - Maul is defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi, becoming obsessed with revenge on him while living on a garbage planet as a half-Zabrak, half-spider person - Mother Talzin creates a new Sith apprentice for Dooku after Sidious forced him to kill Ventress (not that that worked and now Ventress wants revenge, so she went to Mother Talzin), which is eventually a wash. - Savage goes back to Mother Talzin and she sends him on a quest to bring back her son Maul, where she cures Maul’s madness and gives him more Zabrak-style legs, and they go try to kill Obi-Wan and fail at it again. - They float around in a dead ship until rescued by Death Watch, whom they ally with to create a Shadow Collective, in a bid to appear as villains for Mandalore to fight, so Death Watch can swoop in as heroes and win the people’s support to depose Duchess Satine Kryze. - Basically, two Force-sensitives (and honestly Maul could have probably done it himself) were enough to force the Pykes and Black Sun to agree to work with them, even though neither group wanted to. - They also tried to force the Hutts to join, but they refused, so Maul killed Oruba the Hutt (the only one in person at the meeting instead of on holo) and then go to Tatooine to kill Jabba, who decides, okay, he’ll join the Shadow Collective after all. - The plan on Mandalore is put in place, the Shadow Collective attacks Mandalore, Death Watch looks like heroes, Pre Vizsla is the puppet master of the Prime Minister they install, Death Watch tries to betray Maul and Savage, but they’re like, dipshit, we’re Sith Lords and fight their way to Pre’s throne room.  Maul challenges him to a fight, Maul wins, Bo-Katan Kryze (who was part of Death Watch up to this point) refuses to let a non-Mandalorian rule Mandalore (since Maul has taken up the Darksaber that Pre had and leads Death Watch and thus Mandalore now) and leaves. - Sheev Palpatine/Darth Sidious decides Maul’s become enough of a thorn in his side to deal with this, goes to Mandalore, kills Savage, puts Maul in prison and dusts off his hands like no big deal. - Maul is rescued by members of Death Watch and the puppet prime minister who are loyal to him, wins back the Darksaber, returns to Mandalore, sets up another trap to try to lure Obi-Wan there, gets Ahsoka instead (along with a whole lot of Republic troops, because Bo-Katan asked for a Republic intervention, by way of having Ahsoka ask for it), they battle it out and are relatively evenly matched, but he eventually loses.  This is the Siege of Mandalore, which puts the Republic there riiiiiiight as the Republic is turning into the Empire. - So everything goes pear-shaped in the galaxy, as the Jedi genocide is enacted, chaos erupts everywhere.  When the clones attack Ahsoka because of Order 66, she frees Maul to cause chaos and he destroys the core of the engines, forcing the ship down, but he himself escapes. - Maul regroups again and takes over Crimson Dawn, but uses Dryden Vos as a figurehead.  Vos has an assistant named Qi’ra, who is the first love of Han Solo, and when he crashes back into her life, things go pear-shaped again, resulting in a big adventure that ends with Dryden Vos’ death and Qi’ra stepping up to take his place as Maul’s new figurehead. - Qi’ra learns much about the Sith from Maul and, after his death, she takes over Crimson Dawn for real and begins to plot how to take down the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, aka Emperor Palpatine. As much ridiculous bullshit as Star Wars often is, I love that they genuinely have a galaxy that is connected together, that one plot ripples out in these surprisingly massive waves.  You don’t get to any one point on this timeline without the other points happening first, just like you don’t get to the OT without the events of the prequels happening first, you don’t get the Empire without the Republic and the Separatists both. In many ways, Star Wars is separated into periods of time, the films still largely define different eras, but there is a throughline with so much of it, the political timeline spans decades in this universe, you can follow the trail all the way back to The Phantom Menace and even earlier.  Yeah, Star Wars is often silly bullshit, but I appreciate the dedication to showing that ramifications happen when major political and criminal upheavals happen!

You seem like the kind of person who would be interested in my favorite of my unhinged AUs.
Basically it goes like this. In Episode I, Obi-Wan skipped through the great Trials of becoming a Jedi Knight because he was the first Jedi to kill a Sith Lord, Darth Maul, in over a hundred years. (This is canon. I read The Official Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Movie Scrapbook obsessively as a kid before I had unrestrained wookieepedia access. Do not question my deep lore knowledge.)
However, in this version of the story, someone points it out during the Clone Wars. It's just an offhanded comment in a council meeting. It shouldn't amount to much. But one of the other masters, thank The Force no one remembers who, offhandedly mentions that "Wait, didn't we find out Darth Maul is still alive a couple months ago?" and another council member jokingly makes a remark along the lines of "Shouldn't Obi-Wan's knighthood status be revoked?"
That would've been the end of the conversation, except that Master Kenobi and his padawan are there for the conversation, and Anakin appreciates the humor of the situation a little too much.
"Of course, the experiences he's already gained on the field are more than sufficient to make up for what's lacking in Master Kenobi's trials," Mace says, "he shouldn't require any further action."
But Anakin, who has secretly seen Obi-Wan hold his head up a little too high at being the only living Jedi to kill a Sith, and has heard him bring it up at more than one occasion, begins snickering, if not outright laughing. He apologizes for his impertinence, stating that he finds it funny that he now outranks his master by a technicality.
So, although the council agrees Obi-Wan can retain his knighthood, Obi-Wan decides that, no, he's always been a follower of the rules, he's not gonna let the rules slide on this one, either. And with that, he requests the council's permission for a Defintely-Not-Selfishly-Or-Spitefully-Motivated-Mission-To-Hunt-Down-And-Kill-Darth-Maul-For-The-Good-Of-The-Galaxy, which the council concedes to, because knowing the Disaster Lineage, either Kenobi would find a way to do it anyways, or Anakin would attempt to beat him to the punch and gain the title of Master behind their backs.
Obi-Wan spends the rest of the Clone Wars chasing down Darth Maul, and though he is unsuccessful at killing the fallen Sith warrior, he does manage to drive him off Mandalore and prevent the Duchess from dying, so that's at least a little consolation.
Anyways, because of all this, Anakin isn't nearly as upset about not having the title of Master when he's given his seat on on the council, because, hey, look, Obi-Wan's on the council too, and he's not even officially a Jedi Knight yet. In fact, Anakin argues that he's just killed Dooku, and since Darth Maul is still out there somewhere, he's the first Jedi to kill a Sith in a hundred years or so, right? Doesn't this grant him the rank of Master?
The entire council sighs at this technicality, but "right, Master Skywalker is," and because he's been given the title that he's more than earned by then, Master Anakin Skywalker never turns to the Dark Side and Order 66 never happens.
📔 send me any book emoji and I'll tell you about a fanfic idea that I daydream about but haven't written

Obi-Whump Fic Rec
someone asked me for fic recs and I already had it listed out, so I decided to post here! these are some of my fave fics that (for the most part) focus on whump. these are in no particular order. this is not an exhaustive list by any means, I have plenty of more favorites that I have saved but I wouldn’t quite call them whump fics. also, these don’t really encompass a broad variety of whump genres, more like I have a type and that is captivity/torture. yes, i’m a sicko. if I could, I would rec everyone’s whumptober/febuwhump/etc, but maybe I’ll do that separately if there’s enough interest. obviously, there’s some heavy shit on this list, including noncon, so please read the tags and take care of yourself.
without further ado:
A Temporary Mercy by @swranger (6k, M, GDOV, series WIP) - citadel au. so this one is great because if you’re like me you were probably disappointed by the quick save obi et al got in the citadel arc and that he wasn’t...hurt a bit more.
something inside this heart has died (you’re in ruins) by @revanchxst (22k, T,  CCNTUAW, completed) - two things i love, codywan and pain. I was craving a fic where cody replaced rex on kadavo and goddamn this one delivered.
i just wanna keep calling your name (until you come back home) by @revanchxst (15k, T, NAWA, completed) - what if chipped-cody started dreamsharing with obi-wan? this is the first one that’s not quite physical whump but it’s sprinkled in there along with plenty of angst. also there’s a line in here that made me cry so much i have it saved to a widget on my phone.
Recollection by @elwenyere (18k, E, NAWA, completed) - within the first few paragraphs i knew this one was gonna hurt. honorary mention because it’s cody whump and not obi whump but still plenty of pain.
Suns Tempered By Devotion by @come-chaos (15k, E, R/NC, completed) - another one that’s more codywan than whump, but this one is on here because it killed me and i have still not recovered.
In the Line of Duty by shipping_ruined_my_life (5.7k, E, GDOV, completed) - the obi whump exchange was good to us. codywan + the good ole tortured-in-front-of-the-other with a twist!
Offset by @deviantaccumulation (64k, M, GDOV, completed) - i have this one saved as “qui-gon’s alive and dooku’s a bitch”, pretty self explanatory. A+ whump.
Example by @swranger (40k, NR, GDOV, completed) - this would be like christmas if i celebrated it. every new chapter is some horror for obi and i fucking love it.
Dreams by @geodax (2.7k, M, CCNTUAW, completed) - so grievous definitely had some kind of psychosexual obsession for obi and we all know it. this...builds on that :)
Of Teachers and T'ayl'e by @levitatingbiscuits (8.7k, NR, GDOV, WIP) - also not a whump fic per se, but he’s hurt for enough of it that i’m including it. this encompasses everything i love about jangobi.
The Dark Side of Obi-Wan Kenobi Part 1 by @mostthingskenobi (25k, M, GDOV completed) - a post-lawless au with some truly delicious torture.
Conjuring Miracles by @kcrabb88 (30k, M, NAWA, completed) - again, we were deprived of some good whump by the kenobi show when tala shows up miraculously to save him (and vader forgets that he controlled fire like 2 seconds ago). this remedies that beautifully.
See My Dreams All Die by @temporaryuniverse-writing (34k, M, GDOV, completed) - what if obi-wan killed anakin on mustafar, so sidious tried to make him fall instead? plenty of great whump, but also comfort.
And This Guilt, Please Bleed It Out of Me by @letitrainathousandflames (6.2k, M, GDOV, completed) - another beautiful OWE fic. obi-wan continues to suffer from anakin’s actions (this time, the tuskens).
Only One Allowed to Hurt You by sereq_ieh_dashret (15k, E, GDOV, WIP) - maul is basically like “wait you can’t hurt kenobi, i’m the only one who can do that >:(
The Mandalorian Wars by @geodax (66k, M, GDOV, MCD, completed) - my first whump fic i read in the prequels fandom! heavy as fuck, but so good.
Two Months by I_Gave_You_Fair_Warning (14k, E, GDOV, completed) - cody replaces alpha-17 in the rattatak storyline, pain ensues :(
vital signs by marketchippie (18, E, GDOV, completed) - everything that’s great about ventrobi. tfw when you have sexual tension with your torturer?
And When In Shadows by @the-last-kenobi (1k, M, CCNTUAW, completed) - a short whumptober fic that i could not get out of my head for weeks. chef’s kiss mwah
A Treatise On Breaking and Repairs by @glimmerglanger (52k, E, GDOV, R/NC, MCD, completed) - of course i could not forget glimmer, the whump monarch. i remember staying up until 5 am every day just to catch the updates and being in awe each time.

I want to talk about Obi-Wan and Maul
Tumblr media
This might end up being kind of long so bear with me, and my thoughts are kind of all over the place and possibly slightly incoherent.
Maul and Obi-Wan had a rivalry that was insanely brutal. (More under the cut.)
Maul survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan and ended up going insane, no longer connected to reality and living in the sewers for many years. Once Savage took him back to Dathomir and the Nightsisters "fixed" him, he found clarity again and became wholly fixated on Obi-Wan, the only person he had any connection to from his past. He hated all Jedi, but there was no one he hated more than Kenobi.
Obi-Wan, for his part, was horrified to learn that Maul had survived considering Obi-Wan had cut him in half.
Their rivalry is probably one of my favorites in all of Star Wars.
Maul was bloodthirsty, vengeful, and full of rage.
Obi-Wan was the opposite. He was kind, compassionate, took no pleasure from killing others, and loved unconditionally.
And one thing Obi-Wan eventually came to understand about Maul was that Maul had not had a good life. He recognized that Maul was raised to be the person he was because of the cruelty of Darth Sidious.
Tumblr media
The Nightsisters handed baby Maul over to Darth Sidious to be trained in the ways of the Sith. Darth Sidious, who is famously cruel and diabolical. Darth Sidious, who raised Maul to be expendable because Maul was just a means to an end for Sidious.
Maul who never grew up experiencing love. He never experienced kindness or compassion. He was raised to be an assassin, a cold-blooded killer, doing anything and everything Sidious asked of him.
And he eventually understood that he had been nothing more than a tool for Sidious.
So he was angry. Alone. Full of hate. And wanted revenge.
And his anger at Obi-Wan was more than just him losing his legs. Obi-Wan caused him to lose the only life he knew. He had no guidance once Sidious was finished with him.
The only life he knew was one of cruelty. He'd never bonded with anyone until he met Savage.
And when Sidious killed Savage, Maul was alone again. (Ironically, Sidious killed Savage the same way Maul had killed Satine like five minutes prior.)
He had no one on his side again.
He tried to connect with Ahsoka, and then with Ezra years later.
But still, more than anything, he wanted to break Obi-Wan the same way that he himself was broken. He wanted to see Obi-Wan lose control and become like him. He was almost successful when he forced Obi-Wan to watch him kill Satine.
Tumblr media
But Obi-Wan proved to be unbreakable even in that moment, and Maul's obsession only became stronger, along with his rage.
Maul was unable to comprehend love, and it drove him crazy that Obi-Wan had actually tried to connect with him in the moments leading up to Satine's death. Obi-Wan had tried to show Maul compassion and it infuriated Maul. He hated that Obi-Wan was trying to be kind to him.
Maul was a monster in every way, but he was also a victim raised under the cruelty of Darth Sidious and only knew how to be what Sidious had molded him into.
Tumblr media
And on the other side we have Obi-Wan Kenobi. Despite his sass and sharp wit, he is kind and loving. He loved being a Jedi and devoted his life to living by the Jedi code. And he may not have always gotten it right, but he never strayed from the core principles.
(And always be as dramatic as possible.)
Tumblr media
I've seen some bizarre criticisms of Obi-Wan that have me scratching my head. His attachment to Anakin, for one, like there isn't a rich and complicated history behind their relationship in the first place.
He's criticized for not killing Anakin so clearly Vader's reign of terror is somehow Obi-Wan's fault.
Let's examine all of this a bit closer.
We often joke about the fact that Obi-Wan has a vast collection of dismembered body parts, but Obi-Wan does not like killing others. He kills when he has no other option.
He prefers to disarm his opponents, quite literally. He cut off Zam Wessell's hand instead of killing her even though she was about to kill him. He just wanted answers. She had no real way of fighting back because he had injured her.
He disarmed the man who was threatening Luke in the cantina in A New Hope. He didn't kill him though. It's not like he was a major threat.
And on Mustafar, he couldn't bring himself to kill Anakin. He cut off one of Anakin's arms and both of his legs, an action that tore him apart because he loved Anakin so much. Anakin was defenseless at that point, and he was also completely on fire thanks to the lava. No part of him imagined that Anakin could have survived being burned alive, and he spent the next ten years hating himself for leaving Anakin to die until he learned that Anakin not only survived but was incredibly angry with him and wanted to kill him.
Just like Maul.
Obi-Wan did not like the idea of killing. At all.
And perhaps it was his attachment to Anakin Skywalker that brought the galaxy to its knees, but that attachment was because he and Anakin had always had a confusing relationship.
Let's take into consideration the fact that Obi-Wan, at the end of The Phantom Menace and only 25-years-old, had just watched his Master die at the hands of Darth Maul, subsequently killed Darth Maul (but not as much as he thought he had), been given the title of Jedi Knight, and taken on nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker (almost immediately after being knighted), a boy who had just been freed from slavery and had to leave his mother behind to pursue a life as a Jedi because being a Jedi had always been his dream.
Tumblr media
Then maybe take into account the fact that Obi-Wan Kenobi was grieving the loss of Qui-Gon while Anakin struggled with being away from Shmi for the first time in his life. Obi-Wan didn't just train Anakin in the ways of the Jedi, he raised Anakin. He treated Anakin like a brother while Anakin said Obi-Wan was the closest thing he ever had to a father. Obi-Wan has always been good with children, and it's only natural that he would take on a parental type of role despite the fact he was only 16 years older than Anakin. He loved Anakin the way a brother would, and it did blind him to some of Anakin's more concerning habits, but Anakin also kept his biggest sins a secret because he was ashamed of himself, and he never wanted to know what it felt like to have Obi-Wan be disappointed in him.
Their relationship was messy because they were attached to each other, but Obi-Wan still did his best to teach Anakin. It had been Qui-Gon's final wish for him to train the boy, and Obi-Wan trusted his master.
Tumblr media
So it was his attachment to Anakin that prevented him from killing Anakin aka Darth Vader, but it was very in character for him to choose not to do so. He always believed there were other ways to fight back.
And in the end, not killing Anakin had been the right choice. Anakin is the one who defeated Sidious (at the cost of his own life too) in an act of love for his son Luke and returned balance to the Force.
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan didn't want to kill Maul either, but Maul gave him no choice. Maul was now a threat to Luke.
Tumblr media
Maul lived a tormented, lonely life because he was never able to come to terms with the pain and anguish he'd experienced as a child that turned him into the monster he was throughout the rest of his life.
Obi-Wan (Ben) was able to rise above the suffering he'd endured and made peace with what had happened during and after the Clone Wars. He was so very much connected to the Force by this point because he had finally been able to let go of the tragedies of his past.
When he defeated Maul, he didn't treat it as a victory. He cradled Maul in his arms the same way he had held Qui-Gon and Satine when they died by Maul's hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He offered compassion to Maul despite Maul's atrocities, and in doing so, allowed Maul to experience peace for the first time in his long life.
Tumblr media
In his final moments, he was treated with the dignity he had never given any of his victims.
And I think, in the end, Maul finally understood what he had been deprived of his entire life.
Obi-Wan was a true Jedi. He might have made a few errors along his journey, like everyone else does. He proved he was a master not by his skills with a lightsaber but by his ability to show compassion to those who don't necessarily deserve it because they are the ones who usually need it the most.
Tumblr media
Star Wars Rebels gave us such beautiful closure to a rivalry that spanned decades.

:D for WIP Title Game, I'd love to know anything you can share about the Codywan Actor 👀👀👀 idea 😄 \○/
Thankyou!
Well, so. I don't have much written for it besides like a rough draft but generally it goes like did. Obi leaves the Jedi Order (yes, I'm well aware he leaves the Jedi Order in all my fics, but instead of re-writing Jedi rules on relationships or Obi going OC and having deep, true looofff relationship against the rules, I like to give him a free hand on romance). In this instance, it's after mission to Mandalore bc in this universe, Korkie Kryze is a Kenobi. Anyway, fast forward couple of years and Quinlan reaches out to Obi bc he needs someone to go undercover to catch a sleemo movie producer in the act cause can't catch him anymore. Obi goes. Movie producer is arrested. Obi's audition tape falls into hands of a movie director and Obi-Wan accidently becomes the biggest movie star in the galaxy.
Fast forward to the Clone Wars (Qui-Gon lives and trains Anakin, but leaves the Order too when the war starts because I can't see Qui-Gon as general or agreeing with the Order fighting so now he is an anti-war activist living on Obi-Wan's couch - he is also supportive of Obi leaving the Order in this one and like generally a good, if stoned, Dad), Commander Cody and his General (I'm pretty sure it's going to be Pong Krell to make Cody suffer bc I have to have at least one sad, traumatised main character) get a new mission. Apparently, Maul besieged Mandalore. However he is willing to negotiate with the Republic provided it sends his favourite actor with he might or might not be obsessed (this time not because of the missing legs, but because well Obi is Obi and he is a Sith catnip) to negotiate. Incentive? Well, Korkie decided to go to school on Mandalore (Obi and Satine have a co-parenting situation going on there) so he is stuck there. What's in for Cody? Nothing but he has orders to become actor's bodyguard.
What ensues? Chaos, movie nights, mass signing of Vode's Kenobi merch and two very pissed ex-Jedi most likely completely wrecking Pong Krell. (and ofc they fall in LOOOOOOOVE)
I am still working out the details and actual plot but stoned Dad! Qui-Gon speaks to me.

You reblogged a post on my second account (maul-my-heart) and in the tags you said you could lecture about Darth Maul if someone asked so I’ll ask! So if you would like to answer, what is your favorite thing about Darth Maul’s character!? As well as your favorite one of his personality traits?
Omg thank you so much for asking!! <3 <3
Honestly this is such a hard question. But I think that my favorite thing about Maul's character, which kind of relates to everything he else he does, is his inability to Let. Go. Of Anything.
This leads to his obsession with Obi-wan, which he attached to his obsession with becoming something More than a sith apprentice, a real sith. Or at least, someone very powerful in the galaxy. And he does this! He's able to become the head of the Crimson Dawn, and therefore a very powerful person, but it still isn't enough for him. He's still so fixated on Obi-wan that he gets himself stranded on Malachor to find the sith holocron so he can know if Kenobi is alive or not.
It also gets in the way of his relationships. He refuses to see Savage as his brother, because he's still clinging onto what Obi-wan took from him. He's obsessed with being a Sith, so Savage is his apprentice. Instead of being.. I don't know, a pair of brothers on a quest for vengeance, they're "The True Sith Lords," in Maul's words. So I'm obsessed with his tendency to form obsessions and never let go of them <3
As for his personality traits? He's an asshole and I love him. He takes everything as deathly serious (in contrast to Obi-wan, who loves to crack jokes in combat). I think my favorite though is that he's secretly very lonely. But he's too stubborn to acknowledge it.
Thank you for asking, and for coming to my TED talk. :)

You ever think about how despite not appearing or being mentioned in the show, Kenobi really emphasizes how sad, pathetic, and empty Maul's life is?
Post TPM Maul is defined by his hatred and obsession over Obi-Wan, it is quite literally all he lives for
But as Kenobi shows us, Obi-Wan really doesn't put much thought into Maul, his mind is on Vader, Obi-Wan is consumed with sadness, pain, and guilt over the man who became Vader
And it's not hard to see why, Maul was always just an enemy to Obi-Wan, nothing more nothing less
But Vader...
That was Obi-Wan's comrade, his student, his friend, his brother, the relationship was so personal that Vader can never be just another enemy to Obi-Wan
There's also the context of what they took from Obi-Wan
Obviously on a purely numerical basis Vader took more, but it goes beyond that
Yes Maul did take Obi-Wan's Master/father figure and love interest, but Maul could not take away the past away, the memories Obi-Wan had of Qui-Gon and Satine, and when Qui-Gon died it was when Obi-Wan's time with him was coming to an end, Obi-Wan was getting ready to move on as a Knight and Qui-Gon with a new apprentice, they were on the verge of different paths, it's a similar case with Satine when she died, she and Obi-Wan had parted ways 20 plus years prior, they still loved each other, but they had chosen to go different ways with their lives a long time ago
Compare that to Vader, whose actions tainted Obi-Wan's memories with Anakin, but also stole the future from Obi-Wan
Maul only ever achieved temporary pain
But what Vader did would affect Obi-Wan for the rest of his life

No no no you're remembering it all wrong, the scene goes like this: ezra gets in the portal. saves ahsoka. finds the portal where kanan is about to die in the past. politely listens to ahsoka's entire rant about how kanan has to die for the ghost crew's future to exist. palpatine shows up. ezra kicks him so fucking hard in his wrinkly balls, the continuum time-space spits kanan AND the entire ball of flames out of the portal.
ahsoka & ezra drag a very confused kanan back home. meanwhile, palps gets deep fried by the flames enough to make vader himself only look slightly sun-kissed when he comes back to his throne room. back at the Ghost kanan is hanging to his sanity by a thread but he can do this okay?? but then hera tells him she's pregnant with his baby and that's when he just fucking faints bc thats too much for his goddamn brain.
but what about the whole thrawn problem? thrawn is busy throwing a fit over his now useless tie defender project and who's gonna pay the pryce for such a massive fuck-up. And palpatine? He got so fucked up in that portal fire that vader managed to kill him easy.
but vader is a problem too, you might think, but hear me out. ahoka has a short convo of 'yeah and that's how I found out vader is anakin :/' and old man rex is like 'vader is who now??' so he simply gears up and shows up at the doorstep of a very confused newly-declared-emperor vader and just decks him. Just kicks his fucking ass. Absolutely wrecks whatever's left of his overcooked human body and throws whatever's left of that in space jail.
'all hail captain rex, new... emperor? democratically elected head of state? what title pleases you must, sir?' people will ask, and rex will just look at them dead in the eye and say 'i dont give a fuck, I'm on vacation. forever. good-fucking-bye.' and hop on a speeder on his way to the nearest beach planet to get his ass drunk with the rest of the surviving clones like they goddamn deserve.
Oh, and Maul? Learning that palps kicked it was such a good thing for his mental health he made his hunt for kenobi more of a hobby than a desperate obsession. Whenever they meet it's something as comical as team rocket trying to get pikachu. Even obi-wan starts enjoying the whole hide-and seek thing. It's a nice way to spend his retirement, and keeps the angry zabrak out of trouble.
As for the political landscape of the galaxy... well, the first ever election for the new head of the new senate wasn't taken very seriously, so a lot of people put in joke votes. Which got no other than Hondo Ohnaka elected. He is still very confused and cannot stop laughing.
Anyway a lot of people didn't like this season finale of rebels but I think it was perfect.
