FYI artists and writers: some info regarding tumblr's new "third-party sharing" (aka selling your content to OpenAI and Midjourney)

You may have already seen the post by @staff regarding third-party sharing and how to opt out. You may have also already seen various news articles discussing the matter.

But here's a little further clarity re some questions I had, and you may too. Caveat: Not all of this is on official tumblr pages, so it's possible things may change.

(1) "I heard they already have access to my data and it doesn't really matter if I opt out"

From the 404 article:

A new FAQ section we reviewed is titled “What happens when you opt out?” states “If you opt out from the start, we will block crawlers from accessing your content by adding your site on a disallowed list. If you change your mind later, we also plan to update any partners about people who newly opt-out and ask that their content be removed from past sources and future training.”

So please, go click that opt-out button.

(2) Some future user: "I've been away from tumblr for months, and I just heard about all this. I didn't opt out before, so does it make a difference anymore?"

Another internal document shows that, on February 23, an employee asked in a staff-only thread, “Do we have assurances that if a user opts out of their data being shared with third parties that our existing data partners will be notified of such a change and remove their data?” Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who's opted out since the last time we provided a list. I want this to be an ongoing process where we regularly advocate for past content to be excluded based on current preferences. We will ask that content be deleted and removed from any future training runs. I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point. I don't think they gain much overall by retaining it.”

It should make a difference! Go click that button.

(3) "I opted out, but my art posts have been reblogged by so many people, and I don't know if they all opted out. What does that mean for my stuff?"

This answer is actually on the support page for the toggle:

This option will prevent your blog's content, even when reblogged, from being shared with our licensed network of content and research partners, including those that train AI models.

And some further clarification by the COO and a product manager:

zingring: A couple people from work have reached out to let me know that yes, it applies to reblogs of "don't scrape" content. If you opt out, your content is opted out, even in reblog form. cyle: yep, for reblogs, we're taking it so far as "if anybody in the reblog trail has opted out, all of the content in that reblog will be opted out", when a reblog could be scraped/shared.

So not only your reblogged posts, but anyone who contributed in a reblog (such as posts where someone has been inspired to draw fanart of the OP) will presumably be protected by your opt-out. (A good reason to opt out even if you yourself are not a creator.)

Furthermore, if you the OP were offline and didn't know about the opt-out, if someone contributed to a reblog and they are opted out, then your original work is also protected. (Which makes it very tempting to contribute "scrapeable content" now whenever I reblog from an abandoned/disused blog...)

(4) "What about deleted blogs? They can't opt out!"

I was told by someone (not official) that he read "deleted blogs are all opted-out by default". However, he didn't recall the source, and I can't find it, so I can't guarantee that info. If I get more details - like if/when tumblr puts up that FAQ as reported in the 404 article - I will add it here as soon as I can.

Edit, tumblr has updated their help page for the option to opt-out of third-party sharing! It now states:

The content which will not be shared with our licensed network of content and research partners, including those that train AI models, includes: • Posts and reblogs of posts from blogs who have enabled the "Prevent third-party sharing" option. • Posts and reblogs of posts from deleted blogs. • Posts and reblogs of posts from password-protected blogs. • Posts and reblogs of posts from explicit blogs. • Posts and reblogs of posts from suspended/deactivated blogs. • Private posts. • Drafts. • Messages. • Asks and submissions which have not been publicly posted. • Post+ subscriber-only posts. • Explicit posts.

So no need to worry about your old deleted blogs that still have reblogs floating around. *\o/*

But for your existing blogs, please use the opt out option. And a reminder of how to opt out, under the cut:

The opt-out toggle is in Blog Settings, and please note you need to do it for each one of your blogs / sideblogs.

On dashboard, the toggle is at https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/blogname [replace "blogname" as applicable] down by Visibility:

For mobile, you need the most recent update of the app. (Android version 33.4.1.100, iOs version 33.4.) Then go to your blog tab (the little person icon), and then the gear icon for Settings, then click Visibility.

Again, if you have a sideblog, go back to the blog tab, switch to it, and go to settings again. Repeat as necessary.

If you do not have access to the newest version of the app for whatever reason, you can also log into tumblr in your mobile browser. Same URL as per desktop above, same location.

Note you do not need to change settings in both desktop and the app, just one is fine.

This is the official askblog for the II x BFDI Alien Hunter au!

A short rundown is MePhone4 is an alien hunter made by Cobs looking to redeem himself to his creator. With his team (the II contestants), they look for new aliens to capture and end up finding the Algebraliens.

So this is basically an II/BFDI crossover!

Cobs created the Meeple products to hunt down and capture other alien life for him to use - what for, no one really knows. MePhone4 was once a great hunter, but his recklessness and disobedience led him to fail too many missions and get kicked out. He was told that he could return when he brings Cobs new aliens and proves himself. So MePhone4 goes to some old friends - the contestants from a tournament he held a year ago. With them, he starts a new tournament to train his own team and show Cobs he's one of the best damn hunters he ever made.

And his plan is working... that is, until he comes across the Algebraliens, a kind of alien he can't beat...

Hello everyone, I'm Laricina! I use he/she pronouns.

My main account is @larix-laricina, I post a lot of OSC art and stuff, as well as AvA/M, mostly. Updates about this au will also be posted there.

Please keep in mind that I am a minor, so no inappropriate asks or anything. I'm also a student working on this in my free time, so it may take me a while to answer some things. I'm only one person.

SS THEORY, TAGERT AMNESIA IS KAORI: Been keeping this theory a secret for a long time ever since the release of chapter 7. It was supposed to go along with the thing I'm working on for SS (which will hopefully not take a year :'>), but anyway. I believe that Kaori Becker is Target Amnesia. Now that I have more information to further support this (thank to all the questions that rI0r-girl has asked), I can probably confirm this. In my initial theory before all the additional information is that she is Target Amnesia and is responsible for her family's not remembering of her. And I theorized it's either the cliché 'I want to protect' or something else entirely. And it's also weird how HH brothers have their powers when it doesn't look like Alan has, so they must've gotten in from someone which I assume is their mother. Or that they are just mudbloods and this has nothing to do with Heredity or Genes at all. With the additional information, I can add more to this theory. In an ask that rI0r-girl sent, they said: 'I think Vic just has invisibility' your response was... trying to hide the evidence. In the same ask, they also said what power does Kaori have, your response was that it was two but three if you count the side. Now that it has been confirmed that Kaori does have powers, it now would make sense that she is responsible for the recessive gene that gives the brothers their powers. More so that you said Kaori and Vic's powers are nearly similar. Vic's additional power is to see someone (...) who is invisible, along with another he will discover. If his powers are near similar to this mothers, then it would make sense that he got these two primary abilities from Kaori who now I say wields the same two abilities. Meaning that Vic's third power (presumably) is that he can alter or erase or whatever with people's memory, like his mother again. But likely he won't discover this until later chapters. It also makes sense that if she did have invisibility and altering memory prowess, then she could alter her family's memory and leave without anyone noticing her. Like a memory, she is gone. For now. I think. Maybe- Now with this, Kaori have a total of 3 abilities (counting the side which is 3), as you have said. But what about the other three brothers? Previously said in an ask-answer I'm too lazy to find, their abilities are entirely different from Vic's and their mother's (presumably if that is the case). And you-I don't know if I'm remembering this right-made an emphasis on a 'powerless' Alan. I put powerless there because I do think he does have powers and is therefore responsible for the other three's powers. It's just that he doesn't know that he secretly carries the gene, he may find out soon, or never. Another thing from my old theory is that the three brothers, were just mudbloods. Actually all four of them were if I got the entire gene pool wrong. HH brothers are mudblood that suddenly got their powers and their parents are muggles. Why the Harry Potter terms? I don't know, but they are fun to use and say. Though we can scratch that since it has already been confirmed by the information given. Not sure if this makes sense though more or less is correct. So... yeah. Guess that's my theory. I'm fine with clarifying this: Chosen, Dark, and Second, do not share abilities with Kaori. They did receive storng powers, but only because Kaori's passed down genetics altered and developed uniquely into what Chosen, Dark, and Second have currently. Vic is the most similar to Kaori.

BUT!! Vic does not possess ANY "memory altering" related powers. That unknown third power is yet to be guessed or known by any other than myself. and a few siblings-

Uhm- The reason I emphasized "powerless Alan" is because he doesn't have powers- I think I have said this like- At least twenty times to comments, asks, replies to comments, in various places to many many different people.

And I will say it again!! ALAN IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY POWERLESS, UNLESS MAYYYYBE YOU COUNT HIS SKILL WITH MAKING REALLY GOOD MUFFINS, but that isn't a result of a power or genes or something present at his birth, technically. He's just... good. He built up the skill himself.

2024: A Year that Happened

A rundown of highlights from this year over here at Cru5htown

January - Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 releases! Public perception of the game shifts from looking down on the game to singing its praises! Side Order's release date is revealed and the crowd goes wild! Also I ended up getting my first mutual on this site, Lbodraws!

February - Side Order releases and I start work on what would go on to pretty much be my most iconic Splatoon OC, Winnie, because the Parallel Canon exists. This is also the month where I found out about Maya and the Three and started going buck wild with reposting fanart for the series and making some stuff of my own.

March - Pretty uneventful month tbh I don't remember much that happened this month.

April - The Death of Slim Shady gets announced! Because my curiosity was peaked by the announcement I started listening to more of Eminem's music and became a fan of the guy. During the same month, Jojo Siwa releases Karma and the rebrand goes into full swing.

May - Another uneventful month

June - That one debate between Trump and Biden happened and the Zelda Game Where You Actually Play as Zelda is announced. Also the iconic Other Friends animatic featuring both @eliziethegirl's and my OCs is released :D

JULY - Okay this is when shit gets WILD. LIKE ABSOLUTELY BATSHIT CRAZY. Okay so July 1st we get a release date for TDoSS, Jojo Siwa's first EP releases the same day TDoSS comes out, and Splatoon 3's first Summerfest happens that same weekend (this is also the first splatfest I ended up getting into a match with a splatuber!). Relatively normal month, right? WRONG. JULY 10TH, 2024. 3 DAYS BEFORE TDOSS RELEASES. I end up getting vids on YT talking about a mysterious "new Nintendo IP" teased that very morning. I put off looking any further into the topic until later that day and I watch a few vids on the subject matter. That morning, Nintendo posted a video onto their YT channels simply titled Emio, featuring a dude in a paper bag mask just standing there menacingly. This teaser would keep everyone guessing what tf is going on for a week until we got the full reveal and a bunch of people lost investment in the mystery bag man game. Except for me and a few others, who would go on to post frequently about the game for a while and continue to post about the game TO THIS DAY. Anyways, Biden drops out of the election and somebody tries to assassinate Trump.

August - Not only does the Co-op Cult of the Lamb update drop, but the full release of Emio as well. Man that game was a trip. Also a phone ban is enacted in my school.

September - I play the bonus chapter of Emio and boy howdy I was not ready for how dark that was gonna be. Anyways Grandfest and Grand Run happen in S3 and Team Past wins Grandfest. Here's to hoping for 2000s themed Splatoon 4 with a rock band for the idol group.

October - Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4 are confirmed to come out in 2025 :D

November - Trump, unfortunately, wins the election. But on the brighter side of things I figure out how to do Splatoon voices in Beepbox thanks to the awesome @celestedoesarttm and I start churning out my reworked versions of my Splatoon OCs.

December - Luigi Mangione murks United Healthcare CEO and everyone goes buck wild. Soon enough people start digging up stuff from the guy's past and his story becomes more and more interesting (Fun fact: did you know Luigi has played Slime Rancher, Undertale, and Celeste?). Poppy Playtime Chapter 4's release date and main villain are revealed and I couldn't help but have a sense of deja vu when they showed off Harley Sawyer's design for the chapter lmfaoooo

1.) For galaxies, do you have a ref of their full bodies and what the base might look like for Y/N? And perhaps what Y/N in the story might look like? I'm very interested in it as a subnautica fan myself haha!

2.) For eventide, are there any particular outfits you have for them that you prefer them in? And what kind of jobs they might handle? I don't know much about them but I would love to hear what info you do have to offer!

These are excellent questions! (I'm practically BUZZING with excitement already, omg)

Galaxies: Okay, so I do have a full-body one for Sun, and I'm going to post it here because at this point I don't know when the coloring book is getting released to everyone? Or if it already did? Anyway, so here's that, I've been a bit of a mess since May so I haven't even gotten around to finishing coloring this piece (it's my own coloring page, I recognize the irony). So, Fish-Sun in flats (with Sea Monkey babies):

Now, Moon didn't get finished because a lot of really awful things happened all at once at the end of May and beginning of June, I got repeatedly sick, and so I didn't get around to finishing Moon's coloring page yet. It'll be done eventually, but for now, I'll show you what I did do.

(it actually breaks my heart a little, because I had so many plans for this one, aaaahhhhhhh) So Moon's form in general is pretty similar to Sun's design (long, almost eel-like). He was supposed to have more spines that you can kinda see in the original sketch of Moon in the ref pic, and his design was going to be very inspired by a lionfish, spines down the back and at the "hips".

The end of his tail was actually inspired by an axolotl, I just really liked drawing the little fin on my original sketch (which is long gone) and was like "Yeah, don't care that it looks odd, he's an alien". I do have plans to add more sub-sections of the story later (piratespiratespiratespirates) and I'll probably have to design baby Sun and Moon eventually, but I imagine both will be similar to axolotls, since they're supposed to be related species.

Eventide: Actually yes, I did draw up a buncha outfits! I couldn't tell what was too many refs and what would be wanted, so I cut a bunch of doodles of Eventide that I've got.

So, Eventide is a child unit built by my YN with Sun and Moon's help. She starts as a small child (5-6 years old) and "grows up" (through physical upgrades and hardware updates as her AI learns and grows) with her mum, two dads, and two human sisters. Story-wise, I have the plot for her to get up to about 15-16 (not because she dies, just because I haven't planned beyond that), and she wants to do all sorts of things. Legally, she is the property of YN and not Fazzbear Entertainment, and I'm not sure how to address the whole "can she legally have a job?" thing because I also don't know how to address the whole "Robots are people too, but how do I give them rights", so mostly it's the typical teenage/child level of "I want to be a ballerina and a doctor and a scientist and also I want to do what Mom does (officially, a handler for Sun and Moon and considered an expert in certain kinds of AI and human interactions that go into having a complicated family situation (two robot partners, two human children, one robot child)) and also she wants to do what Sun and Moon do (they will eventually be "retired", this is an agreement YN has with Fazzbear after a disastrous situation at another location, and they will be released permanently into YN's care at that point, but again, that's further down the line). At this time, her "job", as YN states (eventually, when I get there in the story), is to "be a kid and find out what all that means". (As for what she will probably do, I'm leaning towards a baker/barista, a marine biologist, or an artist of some sort.)

Creating a dungeon crawler [cont. 3]

Next, I created an enemy character, added a sphere with no collision and added this code to follow the player.

I then changed the auto posess AI function so that the AI would work when spawned. After adding a colossal nav mesh, the enemy worked. It's reassuring to know that I can code absolutely bottom-of-the-barrel, basic things. God I wish I was sarcastic here.

These project settings ensure that the enemy AI will do nothing until 'reloaded' whereby it navigates to the player.

This makes the enemy now an invoker. I'm guessing it has something to do with the settings I just changed but i really don't know anymore.

This has been unticked in the player. You know, I really don't understand what else I'm supposed to say. I'm probably gonna rewrite this anyway.

Adding this to the rooms allows it to spawn enemies at certain spawnpoints. A hitbox has also been added at the front of the enemy, which will reset the level when it overlaps the player

Although I'd lost what had fixed my code [placing the pivot in the player, the sphere further ahead and THEN making the sphere a child of the pivot] I was able to recreate it.

In my new projectile, I set the sphere as the root so I had to add a new object channel

oh there it is. huh.

I have now added an input for shooting - a trigger is set to pressed to ensure I don't have a machine gun. This may later be changed.

Projectiles now spawn at the sphere pivoting around the player at the mouse, now I just need to make the projectiles actually move. [done via updating the projectile movement component in the projectile. Due to collision shenanigans, it forces the player back a little when fired]

[I fixed this by literally making it spawn in front of the player. I'm not too bright]

After creating a new game instance and adding a score variable, I added this to the enemy which should now increase the score when applicable

After changing my projectile's code so that it calls the enemyscore event when it overlaps an enemy, and adding a node to the enemy so it deletes itself, the game functioned as intended but I got a ton of errors. Having had this issue many times before I knew what it would be - the enemy was getting deleted before enemyscore could be called.

After adding a 0.05 second delay before deleting the enemy - long enough to get everything done, short enough to not be noticeable - I stopped getting error messages.

Note About "Higher Than Death"

((This is the same note I posted on AO3 for Higher Than Death, but I'll put it here just in case.))

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful day. No, this is not the next chapter of the story, but this is very important.

Over the past few months we've been getting various updates and memos from Larian about the future of the game. When I started this fic, there were some things that I believe were hinted at. An expansion of the game, a fleshing out of Gortash, and a massive addition with the Upper City of Act 3. I'm a bit of a data miner, and I paid close attention to the little hints left behind and the unused assets being added to the game. I thought that I could create a story that would be able to settle almost seamlessly onto this wealth of new content that was coming, no matter what it ultimately would be.

But, now, that content is not coming.

It may never come. And I feel like I need to apologize.

I wanted to be right. I wanted to be validated in all these things I was seeing and lead into an ending that was just shy of canon. Which was fucking dumb. Fanfics should be free to tear the story apart a little, and not be afraid to ride that line of impossibility. I should have torn apart the story and simply added what I wanted. Add what I saw in data mines and plot holes, or change them entirely, or simply create what I felt would be a good story.

So, that's what I'm going to do. And here's how I'm going to go about it.

85% of Higher Than Death So Far Will Be Used (As well as some of the one-shots) So, I am sorry if those parts get boring, but if you particularly liked them, they won't be gong anywhere. They'll just be shifted and changed a little.

I Will Add Some EA Content There's not too much we know about how the EA content would have effected things later on down the line, so I'm going to be extrapolating certain things. (You'll be seeing a theme here soon.

I Will Add Some Datamined Content To be entirely clear, I certainly don't know all of what was supposed to be. Often times all I know is 'X was supposed to be there'. I don't know the storyline implications, or how it was really supposed to play out. So I'll just be building my own story around them.

I Will Fill In Some Plotholes At least what I see as plotholes. Just little holes in the narrative that I see the vague shape of, but not what actually was meant to go there. So, again, I'll just put in things I think sound good that fit.

I Will Remove Some Canon Things Mostly to make way for the things mentioned above. For example (as a small spoiler) the Emperor will be removed entirely.

I Will Add My Own Shit Because I think it's cool. But, with that said…

I Will Not Be Including Everything I Know There's just too much. Maybe I'll answer some questions if you hit me up in the comments or on Tumblr, if you don't mind some lunatic-style ramblings. But there's even some things in the canon story I'll be truncating. For example, Gale isn't going to feature heavily, nor will Shadowheart, Minthara, or Wyll. I'm sorry to the big fans of those four, but there is just SO MUCH to add that I just can't let this get even more out of hand than it already is about to be.

Most importantly, you may not know what's datamined and what's my original thought process I'm hammering together. Because frankly, I can barely tell you which is which. Again, I only really know single lines of 'X happened' for datamined and EA content. The hows and whys and whens are my interpretation woven through the Dark Urge character I created named Jack Punch.

S2E2-"Grilled"

Long pause between updates there. I've backlogged a bunch of episode notes that I'll hopefully be releasing in batches.

TW: Racism, elder abuse, ableism

Ok so I took these notes a few days ago and the first thing that greets me is "car looks like its fucking the sand", with the sub point "put that in the post". I hope this provides insight into the rigorous intellectual process I work with.

The cop scene is basically an endless series of hits, enough that its difficult to not just transcribe it fully. Tuco's head is mounted on a shooting target by Hank, who talks floridly about interrogating his meth-hag girlfriend and then does a whole routine about apologizing to hr for using the word "hard-on" in the presence of ladies, which is frankly only further fuel to the fire in terms of eroticism literally being criminal in Breaking Bad. He comments on Mexico, saying to general agreement "We all know what's going on down there. We sure as hell don't want it going on up here." which is just. Very interesting considering next episode is going to open with two men illegally crossing the border. Finally, when Gomez asks him if he really thinks they'll track him down, he laughs it off, commenting that its about "keeping up appearances". If he's implying that most of the DEA's work is about the appearance of stopping bad guys and saving good guys....well! He said it not me.

Skyler is hesitant about describing Walter as depressed, especially in front of his son. Even in front of the guy who (theoretically) is trying to find him and needs information, saving the face of the middle class white patriarch takes precedence. She softens it to simple stress. This is echoed again later when Marie blurts out Hank's knowledge about the second cellphone. Sure, Hank is very possibly trying not to add more emotional strain onto his sister-in-law. But he's also denying her information (and in his mind, possibly even covering for Walt's affair). They may be more comfortable possibly letting him die than they are ruining his image as a good family man.

I didn't expect to emerge out of this as a WaltTuco truther but literally what am I meant to take from Walt momentarily imagining Tuco as Skyler appearing to him and telling him that she understands.

The yard is littered with a lot of broken toys. While I'm not super thrilled with the way this visually suggests Hector as another "broken" thing in the house, I do think it lends itself into an understanding of Tuco as ultimately, a bit of an overgrown child. I don't say that to be infantilizing. Trauma, especially as a child, can freeze up your mental development a little bit. Tuco tends to approach his circumstances with a very simply and childlike logic. His paranoia (tragically unable to ever catch the actual threats) is his special powers, his visions of the future. While talking about No-Doze and Gonzo he's clearly seeking out some absolution, insisting "I was good to him! I was good!". None of this, of course, makes Tuco any less dangerous or unstable. But he's a lot more vulnerable than Walt (or arguably, the audience) gives him credit for. He takes personal betrayals of his love aso wildly personally, and seeks escape in drugs when he fails to threaten people into staying loyal to him.

So there's a clear disability horror going on with Hector. The first level of that is inherently ableism, implying that there's something unsettling about being in the proximity of someone with an atypical body and atypical means of expression. The second level (and I believe the unintentional one) is the horror movie happening inside Hector's own perspective, seeing a threat to someone who you, in your own fucked up way, love, and being unable to effectively communicate about it because Tuco is not intuitive with how he approaches Hector's communication needs. Regardless I think it is important that treating Hector like an object fucks over everyone, Walt, Jesse, Tuco, and Hank in the next episode.

Speaking of ableism, though, in a rare Jesse L he does briefly position his life as inherently more valuable than Walt's, because Walt's going to be dead soon anyways. Notably Walt does advocate for his life in a way that he did not when chemo was on the table. Still, Jesse, there are so many better reasons Walt should kill himself for your sake.

At this point I don't even need to do analysis, I can just tell you Skyler says "Marie, you don't get hooked on pot like that" and you can put the pieces together yourself. Post-War on Drugs American normalcy challenge Any% never passed never succeeded.

So I'm not going to quibble with Walt and Jesse trying to kill Tuco, or even (for once) Hank succeeding. The guy was an active threat to all parties involved and his life is taken in self-defense. But I want to highlight this line in particular: "We tried to poison you. Because you're an insane, degenerate piece of filth, and you deserve to die." Given how Walt's historically used the term I think its fair to read "degenerate" as interchangeable with "junkie". So of all the reasons Walt has decided to highlight that Tuco might need to die here....the ones he highlights are "junkie" and "mentally ill".

Jesse kicks Tuco into a hole hope this doesn't foreshadow anything in his future.

Question to you as a writer if you don't mind answering! How do you plot out your stories? You seem to have everything so figured out with the little sneak peaks/ideas about what the next chapter is going to be about you give us. Genuinely you are one of the best authors I've come across since entering the fanfic world like 8 years ago (I'd argue one of the best authors period because you write slow burn like no other) and I'm so interested in your process! I've been re reading different chapters from drink with me so often to get my fix between updates that I've been finding more and more about your writing that I love! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Of course I don’t mind sharing! Forewarning though, I’m a rambler so this may not make any sense whatsoever.

Also apologies if this sounds pompous, I really don't mean it to. I’m under no illusions here; I know I’m just a crunchy internet thot, not Jane Austen.

So, I like to have my fics fully plotted and at least half written (super rough drafts) before I begin posting. And by fully plotted I don’t mean that I know exactly every detail of what’s going to happen - I just mean that I have a clear idea of the below:

What the story is - what the vibes/themes are, what I want to achieve, what I want people to feel when they read it

Where it’s going - the main story through-line (beginning, middle, end), and several key points/scenes/moments/goals to hit along the way.

Content - any ratings and warnings/tags that may be applicable. It helps draw in the right audience for the story from the get go.

Character Arcs - goals/dreams, lessons, mistakes. Where they start vs where they finish.

I have a master outline which I work from. This takes the form of a chaotic, quite frankly illiterate note on my phone. And I add to it as ideas pop into my head - sentences/dialogue, words/phrases, scene ideas, plot/sub-plot ideas, really just any thought I have I shove it down for later. It's messy.

Despite having the core plot locked in place from the start, I always find that the story organically develops further as I’m writing. I’m constantly expanding the plot and coming up with new ideas for scenes and subplots which I then weave into the main storyline - often as a tool to expand on points that I already intended to make as part of the core story.

A few examples for DWM:

The Blackout/Chapter 8 - Simply never existed until maybe one or two chapters before it was posted. Because I was finding that the story was naturally evolving into much more of a romance than originally intended, and because Silco’s an uptight bastard, I needed something to give us a flash of his true feelings, and to ramp up the stakes a little higher.

Max - He really didn’t exist until I opened the document for Chapter 11 and started writing. Again, because the romance was kicking in earlier than originally planned, I wanted to give Reader an opportunity to actually talk through her feelings/receive some legit advice. And I also wanted to provide a foil for her and Silco’s relationship. I planted mention of Jasper having a partner in the earlier chapters purposefully, just in case I needed to add in an extra character for whatever reason. But the mention was ambiguous enough that it could be easily skipped over if I found I didn’t need one.

By having the main story locked in place, it allows me to look at the whole picture and see where I can slot things in. However, I never add a new element unless I know exactly how I’m going to resolve/round it off in the end. Or without considering how it might effect later plot points. (As tempting as it was to have them play strip poker in Chapter 9, that was only ever going to end one way, and I’ve had my heart set on that cigar smoking moment from the very start).

I also have the story roughly split up into chapters ahead of time to ensure the story flows nicely and we’re not being overloaded with too much of one thing at once. (E.g. Angst needs be interspersed with a bit of fluff and vice versa etc.)

Also, I have to say, I don’t think readers understand the power of leaving comments on fics. Personally, I’m really influenced by them. It always really surprises me what little nuggets and details people pick up on. If people are really vibing with a particular element of the story, then I’ll develop it further in future chapters. I’ve even added whole new scenes because of what a reader has said (not in DWM yet, I’ll always credit if this is the case). Even such a simple comment as “I love this” lets the writer know that they’re on the right track.

Although, this being said - I’ll never deviate from my main plot because of a comment. I always believe fully in the base story I’m telling, and will stick to my guns on it. And every writer should do the same.

I believe in flawed characters, and I love a bit of angst, miscommunication, drama, and bad decision making. It makes for an interesting story. Who wants to read about perfect characters doing perfect things? So I’m never swayed by comments expressing annoyance/disappointment at a character’s actions or flaws. Everything they do, they do for a reason, which becomes apparent when the time is right.

Okay I went on a bit of a tangent at the end there, but I guess that’s mainly it.

This is just how I personally plot. Everyone is different, and what works for some doesn’t work for others. You’ve just got to trust your own process.

Ed, Edd n Eddy Series Bible (1996) -Analysis-

You can all finally read/download Ed, Edd n Eddy's official Series Bible right here! Thanks again to Chuckletons for sharing this with me and to Joey/Kongiscool0518 for sharing it in the first place, the Holy Grail of lost Ed, Edd n Eddy trivia!

One of the first posts I made for this blog was the Series Bible page. It was a composite of every source we had ever seen reference the series bible so far-- storyboarders in interviews, CN's old character guides, and the biggest source, an old CN UK posting about the show. Well, I figure now that we have the official source, I better update the old page (so everyone knows it's out of date), and make this new Series Bible post using the official source! Not much new information, but I was intrigued to finally learn the true phrasings of some things we had only heard paraphrased, as well as at least one detail from the movie that I couldn't believe came up this early in conception...

Unfortunately, Tumblr has apparently updated its post system to only let me add 10 images? Gonna try and only use images for what I need since you can read the actual document above, I guess I'll transcribe it too for easier reference and so we don't ever lose some archive of this.

Quickly, let's review what a series bible is:

A series bible is how creators pitch shows to networks. They can be called “pitch bibles” as well. Bibles do not usually get posted publicly, because they are initially under a strict Non-Disclosure Agreement by the network; also the creator may simply not wish to share it because it reflects the earliest stages of development.

The pitch materials typically include early concepts for characters, locations and episodes. Sometimes it exposes secrets, in this case, Ed and Eddy’s home lives, and sometimes the stuff in it is completely abandoned because it’s so early in production, in this case, casual references to school and adults.

I love how Danny decided last second to pencil in the correct names over each Ed, since they're arranged out of title-order.

Fun fact: one storyboard artist for the movie observed that the movie is essentially all about challenging the series' original notion that the Eds are friends ONLY because of their name.

Ed, Edd n Eddy is a show about confusion and contradiction, that awkward part of youth, pimples, big feet, oily hair and... girls???.

Puberty is unforgiving.

I was fascinated by the lack of art on this page, it makes the pitch feel very focused. AKA logo in the corner, the title logo again up top, then the logline appears again below.

I really love the breakdown of Danny's vision of the show. "Gag-laden, beat-generated, CARTOON bumper ride." Very accurate, and I think "beat-generated" is the phrase that interests me the most. I typically think of "animation beats" as sort of a give-in-- technically all things fit a rhythm, so all stories are essentially just a montage of beats. But this does make me realize how important the strength of the beats and their rhythm are to the pacing of a cartoon and making you feel like "that was a good one." I feel like the "seasonal rot" viewers feel over the course of a show, and the way that perception differs from person to person, depends on the type of beats you want. Even though I am very into the experimental beats of a show in its later seasons, I can definitely see how season 1's beats are more typically appealing to a wide-audience, and how important a focus on that is to the longevity of a show.

I found it really interesting how the scams are initially conceived of here as "summer jobs." It adds to the sense that adults were originally meant to be present. Honestly a little surprised nobody with access to this bible had ever thought to mention that-- scams are not referenced ANYWHERE. Their image in the Series Bible is that they have summer jobs and help neighbors, which is certainly a much cleaner reputation than the Eds ended up with in the show. Makes me realize though, were some of the early scams, like Ed's Hive Bee Gone and their newspaper routes, supposed to be leaning into this early idea of them with almost legit jobs for unseen adults?

I was very amused by the repeated phrase that the Eds simply CAN'T fit in.

Loved to finally see the official phrasing for the confirmation that Peach Creek is in America. Not much different than I was led to believe, but still nice to have the true quote.

Also love Eddy being described as "stylish and flaunting himself to the world." The bold-print reactions to each micro-description is a cute idea too, I truly wonder who we were meant to picture saying those things in reaction. Each Ed? Kevin?

The "corner mail box" is an oddly specific phrase-- the Eds do hang around mailboxes throughout the series, especially seasons 1-3, and I believe the canon map does have a corner mailbox, but the idea that the Eds hang out at one specific mailbox went the way of Bro's supposed secret treehouses.

Show Description

Gag laden. True cartoon style, inventive, non parody, fast paced, stretch and squash

Beat driven. (even when characters stop they hold with a bounce cycle. Adults never bounce. Music can play important part, not just fill.) But not a musical.

Cartoon surrealism. (viewers see the show as Ed, Edd n Eddy would, less important things tend to blend into the background, while objects of Ed, Edd n Eddy's desires are focused. Premise driven.)

The school year's over, (yeah!!!!) and the long HOT summer vacation begins (gulp). What to do?

Stuck on a cul-de-sac in the suburbs of America is the last place you want to spend summer break, especially when you find life confusing and contradicting.

Ed, Edd n Eddy is about friendship, and serves to remind us that they're no "good ole days," just smelly runners.

You can tackle anything, when your with your pals.

Their days are spent, for knowledge, acceptance and some cash for jaw breakers. Armed with pimples, big feet and oily hair the three amigos trek into the unknown.

Ed, Edd n Eddy are dying to be grown-ups, but they're kids, and attack adulthood as only kids would. Simple situations turn into a manic rollercoaster ride. (Don't forget your barf bag).

They just want to belong, and they're willing to pull off any insane stunt to prove it. First they need to figure out what it is they want to belong to.

Found it interesting that on this page, the show's logo is replaced with the title written in a jumbled font. Seems like the font from the show's end credits.

Hehe, the continued reactions to the descriptions. Allow me to be Double D for a moment and point out the increased use of parentheticals on this page, as well as one wrong "your".

I love Danny's insight that season 1 is framed by the context of how hyped everyone still is just to be out of school, but also the sense of pressure to make use of their break.

I really appreciate Danny getting further into the details of his summary of the show's style on the previous page. It only makes sense that he had this much of a vision that early.

A second confirmation of the cul-de-sac being in America! I'm also really into the repeated focus on the Eds finding the world "contradicting." I always loved how EEnE's inexplicable cartoon antics supported that sense that the Eds are highly aware of contradictions in both societal things and the actual characters.

WOW, so I'm fascinated by this dual reveal. Before the wiggling outlines, which Danny usually calls a "boiling line" and describes as a tribute to wiggling inking in early animation, the series bible instead refers to him wanting the characters to do the iconic Fleischer "bounce," which is a much more commonly recognized rubberhose animation technique. Very interesting that Danny decided not to stick to that. Did it feel too out of place? Or was the overseas team not willing to animate a weight-shifting for every single held pose? Haha, guess I can see why boiling was an easier compromise. I wonder if he had any other ideas for how to make it more of a 1930s cartoon.

The other reveal to me here is that the movie's choice, that adults don't always wiggle in the show, was an idea from the very beginning! I guess I can better understand now why it's just too difficult to communicate a stylistic choice like that overseas-- no point making Bro not wiggle, that'd just create confusion.

Also, really disappointed that my wish for a musical is officially squashed in the series bible itself. That's a tragedy. The show's over, ya couldn't let me dream, Danny!? Conversely, I love Danny's forethought to say "non parody," I definitely noticed and appreciated EEnE's avoidance of derivative parody humor.

My spouse had to point out to me that Danny probably means sneakers here, lol. Canadianisms!

The comments about the Eds wanting to grow up but needing to figure out what they want to belong to are so great and relate to the movie so well. I've heard those comments before, but the correct phrasing was cool to see.

Very cute bit wasting the space at the top of the page. Danny seems very invested in Ed's personality already. The old sources we used to have definitely tried to condense these down to simpler blurbs.

Weird how Danny wants to essentially diagnose Ed with ADHD here (phrasing it very poorly, but it was the 90s and... Canada?). I don't know enough on the subject to debate it, but I still gotta point out Ed's canonical cracked skull!

Interested in the comment about Ed being most allergic to Guinea Pigs. I don't think that animal was ever even mentioned in the show. Eddy mentioned an old gerbil once....

Neat to finally have the real phrasing of the official word on Ed's parents! I saw someone comment earlier that this seems to be hinting Ed's Dad is selling stolen cars. I've never thought to question the legality of his apparent second-hand-car dealership (I imagined he works with Eddy's dad, who has received a legitimate award for his salesmanship), but those quotation marks are certainly making Mr. Ed's practices questionable! Best case scenario, Danny meant that more like italics or something, but maybe Ed's dad IS up to no good...

Interesting how Danny slightly differentiates the barely-used space at the top here from Ed's description, to characterize Edd as more quiet and mumbly, adding an awkward "--" mid-sentence, perhaps to create the impression that Edd halts to choose words carefully.

Everything on this page feels familiar, from the character guides and other old sources. The most interesting thing to me here is that Edd's Mom forcing him to practice Pedal Steel Guitar is established this early, don't think I knew that, but I had noticed that it existed in his room from ep 1.

I love how the explanation in the beginning for why Edd goes along with their dumb schemes even though he's smart is basically just "he's always ready for action." ?!? I guess in a way???

That weirdly phrased Edd quote amuses me because it references Lego, just like the original concept background for his room before somebody nixed the copyright-namedrop.

Edd's prone to crushes thing has been reaffirmed over and over in character bios even though it really doesn't come up outside of the cupid magic in HPH and the pilot-episode heart eyes at Sarah that are barely canon. Still, I've always loved the truly disturbing statement that he mails "his true loves his socks" and how that managed to make it into canon with a comic book example, a cel animation example and a digital era example.

Eddy is the unofficial leader of the trio.

He's always got a plan, a stunt or a weird noise.

Eddy's the "class clown". He loves showing off. He loves being the centre of attention-- no matter how stupid the reason is.

Eddy is the only kid in his grade to have been expelled for aw hole week from school. It was his turn to set up the video for science class. He switched "Our Friend Yeast", for a video he "borrowed" from his parent's room.

Before Eddy's brother went....away, he enlightened Eddy with the "legends" of the neighbourhood. Eddy knows where all the abandoned tree houses are, which sewer pipers are safe to spelunk, and the secret recipe for the "El Mongo Stink Bomb" (it's been in the family for years).

He is the one who is most able to pretend that he knows it all... and doesn't care what anyone else thinks about him.

His genes are working the fastest.

Eddy's Dad is constantly concerned that Eddy may grow up to be a ...figure skater.

Eddy's Mom never believes his little darling was involved in such a heinous act.

Funny choice that Eddy's wasted-top-space is just two one-word descriptions, and allegedly lazily swiped from his negative report card.

Wow, we knew the report card quote and the "Our Friend Yeast" story from the UK show guide, but now we also know Ed's page says that Ed draws in class, and now I realize that Ed and Eddy have series bible school blurbs to match Edd's classic dodgeball incident blurb. Anyway, it's great that Eddy's showed his entire school some sort of sex video his parents have.

Very interested that the phrasing for the Bro/El Mongo Stink Bomb blurb even seems to suggest it's a family recipe. Eddy's Dad did have prankster stuff in his closet in JJJ... did Bro learn his prankster ways from Dad?? The neighborhood's secret tree houses have come up in other descriptions (at best, I'd say this could be related to that creepy shack the Eds found in the woods), but I think it's new info that Eddy personally learned the sewer routes from Bro. Interesting...

Thankfully, I had already heard about the Bible's awkward reference to Eddy being the most pubescent as "his genes are working the fastest," lmao.

Once again the Double D in me comes out to point out that the description of Eddy's Mom seems to switch to the Dad's pronouns.

I'm surprised how much of the UK guide was accurate to what was really in the bible for them! Also surprised Danny misspelled "whiney" and "tantrum," one right after the other. Is this how Sarah spells them? ...Sorry, Danny, I yam what I yam.

He is a wanderer and very inquisitive

From early morning to supper time, he is always outside playing, with his buddy, "Plank".

"Plank" is a wooden board that Jonny drew a face on with a crayon.

Jonny has wonderful conversations with Plank. ...Plank is a piece of wood.

Jonny makes himself very "accessible" to the Ed's.

Found it interesting that Rolf's bio is less clearly phrased than the UK bio set it up to be-- there they made it sound more like he mixes up who the Eds/kids are, here it's unclear whether it means that or (more likely) just means the obvious statement that everyone finds him confusing. If it's that, what a lame hollow bio Rolf got. This kid's based on you Danny, show some of that personal side!

Always loved Jonny's description, his life sounds so cute. Playing outside literally all day. Interesting to have it confirmed that Jonny drew Plank's face, I preferred to think the Eds drew him and sold him to Jonny, but whatever.

"Accessible" has always been an important vague description of Jonny to me. It really only applies to how chummy they could be with him in season 1, but it still sorta applies to his personality throughout the series as well.

NAZZ

She's cool, calm and assertive.

She is the most matured of the kids, or so she thinks.

She's into make-up and fashion magazines and Boys.

Sarah thinks she's awesome, wants to be just like her when she grows up.

When she enters a scene, all activity stops... boys freeze, they sweat, their hearts beat faster and faster. They lose their ability to talk. When she leaves, they recover and conclude it was something They ate.

She thinks the Ed's are funny.

KEVIN

He is cynical and sarcastic.

He thinks he knows the "routine". That's because he watches "60 Minutes".

It got a big laugh out of me that Kevin's description is only 2 sentences long. Nazz even has a more detailed character description from inception than Kevin. Love this for them.

Who's the Eds' rival? Well, he's cynical, sarcastic and he watches 60 Minutes, doesn't that tell you enough!?

I love the "mature... or so she thinks" remark about Nazz, a grounded flaw for her to have, being a little overcommitted to being mature like Eddy. It also perhaps suggests naiveté that makes it a little more reasonable that they didn't notice they were dumbing her down at the end of the series, but I do think the movie version of her better reflects the Bible's concept.

The Kanker Sisters

These gals are tough. They bother, bully, provoke and bewilder everyone.

They live in a motor home park on the other side of the Cul-de-sac. The other kids have never been there.

They are proud of their Tammy Faye Baker memorabilia.

Their project "Cooking with Ketchup" closed down their school for a whole week.

No one likes them, especially the Eds.

They are determined to marry the Eds. They want them to do their dishes.

Amused that the Kankers are essentially being labeled backgrounds characters here, the role they mostly fell into in season 5. "Other" neighborhood kids...

I love that the Kankers have a school blurb to match each of the Eds', and that theirs has similar destructive-intentions to Eddy's video premiere story.

I believe all of this was all known from the UK guide as well, but still, neat stuff!

PAGES 19 & 20 (zoomed in Kanker lineup and their height chart with the Eds)

PAGES 21 & 22 (early promo art that used to be on CN's old Eds webpage, the art of the Eds eating jawbreakers at the end of ep 1 with the overhead text "Ed, Edd n Eddy love JAWBREAKERS!!!", and the art of the Eds all running with overhead text "Ed, Edd n Eddy see something shiny...."Jiggers." That weird "jiggers" statement at the end was normally edited out and I don't know what it means. Looked it up and it seems to be Chinook jargon (like when Ed said he was "skookum at X's and O's") usually said in the same sense as "CHEESE IT!")

PAGES 23+:

The rest of the pages in that bible download are from a 2004 storyboard test. The storyboard sample "It's Raining Eds," which we've seen some submitted samples of before, interpretations with Ed attempting to fly or chew gum and Edd making radioactive gum, I was surprised to find out the outline is just the original outline for the opening sequence to season 3's 'For Your Eds Only', seemingly Jonny was not written into the original outline (or was excised for easier testing purposes) but Kevin's brief cameo was. Now I wonder if they knew this would be used for a test when they wrote it, and if they would've come up with a less random way to include him if weren't forced to be a concise bit for testing's sake. (Your limit is typically 40 storyboard pages in my experience.)

I also noticed that in the included background references, the anonymous adult neighbor house next door to Ed's is officially just referred to as a "generic house."

Chapter 2

Bjorn stared at Bonnie as if a second head had sprouted from her neck. "So what are you implying? That the world is not flat but-,"

"Round!" Her head bobbed in a rapid series of nods. "Yes."

He watched her for a moment longer before snorting, "Impossible...ridiculous even! Surely if I were to sail too far in either direction my ship would eventually fall into oblivion."

"No, you'd just end back up in the same place you-,"

"Land!" A gruff voice growled from the head the ship.

Torn from their back and forth, she looked up and her chin almost smacked the floor of the ship. The sight of Kattegat snatched her breath and knotted her tongue. Television didn't do Ragnar's kingdom any favors compared to what the naked eye perceived in person.

"What you're feeling now is the same feelings I have each time I return. Bonnie," Bjorn whispered next to her ear, before his rough palms closed around her hands. "Swear your allegiance to me. Remain always at my side and I vow to protect you for as long as we both remain on Midgard."

Confusion wrinkled her brows. What the hell had she done to provoke such and oath from one of history's greatest names? "Why offer me this? You hardly know me."

"Because the same emotions I feel when I return to Kattegat is the same sentiment I felt when I looked upon you for the first time," he gave her hands a squeeze, "Something within speaks to me."

"Wha-," her voice went hoarse in the presence of a throat so dry she doubted even high quality h2o could quench her thirst. Taking a deep breath, she swallowed and tried again. "What does it say?"

A smile caressed his mouth as he lifted her hands to press a kiss to the back of them, "To hold you dear. For you're to be treasured."

"Bjorn-,"

"Will you bequeath me your vow, Mystical One?" He demanded as he imprisoned her in his electric stare.

Unable to do anything but give into the iconic Viking who was destined to carve his name across time, she nodded once. "Yes, Bjorn Ironside. You have my allegiance. My sworn word that I will never stand across from you on a battlefield and if left up to me, I vow to remain by your side for as long as we both shall live."

The words were out her mouth before they had a chance to tap dance across her mind. What the hell? Why the hell would she promise such a thing? She had to find Klaus! There was no time for her to become just another name on Bjorn Ironside's hitlist.

"Good, this pleases me," He laughed and released her hands to clap his. "Now we must seal our sacred vow." The laughter faded from his features as his facial muscles stiffened into a mask of sincerity.

Her breathing slowed while she prepared for the fuckery sure to follow. "How? Please don't say by blood."

"No, this way is the right of it," he whispered as he placed a finger under her chin and lifted her face. Slowly, he leaned down to allow his lips to graze hers. Before it fully registered what jumped off he pulled away. "Now it is done."

"Okay, so now that's out of the way," she cut her gaze to the shore as she attempted to even her breathing and calm the flipping in her stomach. "How do you plan to explain me to your wife and the rest of your family?"

Bjorn's face scrunched. "How-," she halted his question with an unflinching gaze. The smirk on her lips hinted at all-knowing. He inclined his head as a concession of sorts, "Allow me to worry over my family. I have given you my sworn oath. There is no other in Midgard who can compel me to break my vow to you."

"Alright, my protector," she glanced over the multitude of people who at present packed the harbor, "I believe you."

Bjorn helped her off the ship onto the dock. When he turned two children raced into his arms followed by a petite woman with crinkled flaxen hair. Torvi. After the kids had released him, she threw herself in his arms and kissed him so hard she damn near sucked his whole head in her mouth. Moments later he untangled himself from her hold.

"How fare your travels, husband? Did the gods smile favorably upon you, was greatness achieved?" Torvi questioned as her gaze drifted to Bonnie and lingered.

"My travels have fared better than even I anticipated. For the gods have bestowed upon me the most wondrous of gifts," Bjorn turned to cast a wide smile at her and an extended hand. Accepting the outstretched palm, she allowed him to pull her to his side, "This is Bonnie Bennett of Mystic Falls and she is under my protection."

"Is she a slave then, Bjorn?" The oldest of the two boys questioned.

"No, Guthrum," Bjorn kneeled before the child to stare him in the eyes, "She is to be a most sacred friend to our family and that is how we shall all regard her."

"But she is dressed as a slave," Guthrum insisted, waving a hand at the burlap sack dress she wore.

Bjorn tsked. "Guthrum, it is not the garments that are donned which confirms the value of one's worthiness. However, worry not. For she shall be cloaked in the finest hides, silks, and furs befitting her station soon enough."

Raw pain etched its way across Torvi's face. "So you have taken a mistress?"

"I'm not his mistress, nor will I ever be," Bjorn head snapped around to peer up at Bonnie and she gave him a look that carried the weight of her words, before her gaze swung back to meet Torvi's flared stare, "on that you have my word."

"She speaks our language," She said, her words ringing more as a statement than a question, "Fluently, it would seem. Did you teach her?"

This gave Bonnie pause. Weren't they all speaking English? There wasn't an ice-water day in hell she spoke old Norse fluently. Not even with Super Head's tongue.

"Bjorn!"

Two tall lean muscled boys just beyond the dawn of manhood with eyes as transfixing as Bjorn's, cut through the crowded dock. Without any need for introductions, she knew who they were before hello crossed either one of their lips, Ubbe and Hvitserk. One after the other, they gathered Bjorn in a spine crushing hug. Each brother concluded their embrace with a pound to the back.

"How went your raid, brother?" Ubbe asked. A longing flicker which couldn't be mistaken for anything other than wanderlust sparked his unblinking azure stare, "Was the plunder worthy of the voyage?"

Hvitserk laughed and his consideration wandered from them to her. His iridescent sapphire blue irises almost leapt from their sockets. "How far south did you raid, brother?" He questioned, while running his gaze up then down her and back again.

Curious, Ubbe tracked his brother's stupefied stare back to her. When his gaze crashed landed on her, he stepped around Bjorn to invade her personal space. Once he towered over her, he rubbed the pad of his thumb over her cheek. He then lifted the digit to his face for inspection.

"I assure you, it doesn't rub off," Bonnie said, before reaching up to do the same to him. When she inspected her thumb, she frowned down at the dirt on the pad of her finger. "But I see that yours does." She lifted her finger for him to see.

Ubbe's scrutiny snapped back to her face and doubled in its intensity.

"Where will you be placing her to serve, Bjorn?" He demanded

"She's not a thrall," Guthrum corrected, "she's a sacred friend to the family."

"What?!" Ubbe and Hvitserk questioned in unison.

"Guthrum speaks the truth," Bjorn cosigned, while inserting himself between them in order to address Ubbe and Hvitserk face to face, "Bonnie is a free woman and has my sworn vow of protection. Fear not, however," He pointedly glanced back at the blonde-haired, blue-eyed slave girl who pleaded to have her thrown in the sea to please the gods. She in turn cast her gaze downward and feigned modesty. "I have secured a wealth of suitable thralls to add to the great hall, stables, and trading block." Ubbe and Hvitserk exchanged smirks. "Now come, let us make our way back to the keep. I'm in need of a meal and rest."

Bonnie glanced the one room shack. Like on television there wasn't much to the small space. There was hardly any room for Bjorn and his family. Where in the hell did he expect her to sleep? Her gaze moved to the only bed in the home. A pair of hands grasped her shoulders.

"My uncle Rollo has a keep only a few paces from here. My plans are to restore it so you may reside there," Bjorn whispered next to her ear, answering her unasked question as if he had real time Shade Room updates to her thoughts. "It should be complete before we sail for the Mediterranean."

A smile trembled across her lips. "You want me at your side when you sail for the Mediterranean?"

"Of course," Bjorn crowded her into a corner and lowered his voice, "There is a great truth I am with haste coming to realize."

"And that is?" She questioned, while noticing Torvi side-eying the hell out of them.

"There is not a moment when I do not long to have you at my side," he answered.

"And when did you have time to come to this conclusion in the three days of knowing me?" Bonnie scoffed. "Bjorn, I have yet to leave your side so how can you long for something you never had to miss." She inhaled and dropped her head to exhale. She needed a moment to mentally check herself. The angst gnawing at her chest had nothing to do with Bjorn and everything to do with the 21st century Viking she may or may not have left behind. "Look, this isn't what you think it is, trust me." She placed a hand on his chest. "You're just in the throes of a fleeting infatuation."

"You doubt my words?" He demanded stepping impossibly closer. The press of his hard body, pounding of his heart, and the unyielding steel hanging midway down his thigh spoke major fuckery about his earnestness.

"Never, I'm just skeptical about the longevity of their sincerity," she admitted, "Especially, when physical consummation isn't forthcoming. I meant what I said, Bjorn Lothbrok! I refuse to be your mistress. I won't do that to Torvi."

A knock sounded on the door, cutting off anything further he had to say. Torvi rushed over to answer it. Soon after in walked Sigurd. Aggravation provoked the muscle in Bjorn's jaw to twitch but despite his irritation he turned to greet his brother.

In three strides he crossed the room and embraced Bjorn. Sigurd eyed her over Bjorn's shoulder. "By the gods Hvitserk did speak the truth. You are in possession of a maiden who is cloaked in twilight even in the sunlight. Is she that pigmentation all over, brother?"

"I can assure you, young Sigurd, Ironside wouldn't be able to tell you one way or the other," Bonnie snapped.

Sigurd scoffed. "Young Sigurd? The brazenness of you! I'll wager you've yet to greet your sixteenth summer! You barely have the look of a girl who's one and five."

She tossed her head back and laughed at his flattery which bordered on absurdity. "You're sweet, but I haven't seen sixteen in eleven summers."

"Impossible," Sigurd spat as if he were on the verge of calling her a damn lie.

"Well you know what they say about black," She shrugged as she glanced down. Guthrum and Hali appeared to be hanging onto every syllable of her words. Introducing a set of stereotypes to a race of people who'd yet to form an opinion about her race of people wouldn't be a good look.

"No, what do they say," Sigurd demanded.

Her gaze rose to meet his. "They say nothing, and why're you so pressed to know my age anyway, Viking? Don't you know it's bad form to question a woman about the amount of summers she's seen?"

Torvi released a cough that sounded suspiciously like a chortle.

Bjorn leveled them with a not here for it expression before returning his attention back to Sigurd. "Why are you here, Sigurd?"

"My mother has prepared a great feast in your honor. She requests you bring your family and your..." his gaze moved over Bonnie as a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, "charge for an eve of merriment." He stepped around Bjorn to loom over her, "Name yourself."

"She is Bonnie Bennett of Mystic Falls," Guthrum answered.

Bjorn turned Sigurd towards the door. "Inform your mother that my family, charge, and I shall attend. Now seek out your leave so we may be rested for whatever Aslaug has planned."

I'm sorry that you put up with so much hate and abuse. Writing is a choice, it's your choice and you writing is amazing. I recently asked if you might continue not now (I don't know if you'll see this message or that) and I'm so sorry if it causes pressure or bad feelings. I'd love to see more but respect either way. Hello! I just saw these, I can’t believe I saw them so soon LOL. I log into here like once a year maximum but I was feeling extra tomark-y tonight and Grace ( @gotrigboy​ ) won’t fucking talk to me LMFAO. What a fucking awesome surprise!

Incoming ramble because I will also use this ask to just send a general update lmao!! 

I am so so fucking glad that you love my story, and thank you so much for these messages. I was so young when I wrote it and it was during the worst year of my life (yes, even 8 years later, it was still the worst). Honestly, the hate and whatnot isn’t a big deal to me anymore—I was (and some would say I still am ;)) pretty fucking cocky, miserable, and I did end a wonderful story with no explanation. I understand why people were upset. I could write the world’s longest love letter to Not Now, and what it meant to me. What it STILL means to me. I’ve made lifelong friends from a joke I made at 13. I’m only filled with gratitude and love.

Don’t worry about the pressure, when people express interest it honestly inspires me. I would love nothing more than to get back to writing fic. I do have some chapters of Not Now uploaded to ao3—which are here—and as you may be able to tell by “Original”, I have been planning to rewrite Not Now for a long time (also, forgot to keep uploading to ao3, maybe I’ll get to that...). One of the many reasons I stopped writing was because I am overwhelmed by my own plot holes LMFAO. Were I to continue where I am right now there would be SO MUCH that I would have to clean up/add in the following chapters in order to get to a semi-rational ending. Sci-fi is hard, guys, especially when it takes place in the “real world”. I dug many holes that I can’t remember how to fill anymore. If/When I rewrite it, most things will remain the same. The only sacrifices made will be to improve on the general writing (the first few chapters aren’t great) and to eradicate plot holes. I want this thing to be fucking water tight because it’s my baby. Don’t get your hopes up, though. I have no timeline. 

HOWEVER, THE ONLY WAY TO ENSURE THAT I FINISH NOT NOW IS TO FULLY FUND GRACE’S TOP SURGERY FUND—WHEN GRACE REACHES THEIR GOAL, I WILL FINISH NOT NOW, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. IT’S A DEAL I MADE WITH THE DEVIL... AKA GRACE.  

Also, somewhat good news is I’m writing tomark again. Not Not Now, something kinda different and basic, but it’s a little side project I’m working. When I upload the fic to ao3, it will be under the same account (notnow). I hope I can finish the first chapter soon. I’m spending a lot of time laying the groundwork—mentally—so it’s taking me a while. No sci-fi this time. I started writing it on my twitter, but I have changed it since. I will also try to remember to upload a link here, but I don’t think anyone really knows about this blog (or tomark) anymore :(. 

But honestly, I love writing so much. It’s the only thing that feels natural to me. Yet I am also a self-hating bastard—Mark always was the easiest to write—so your messages do mean a lot to me. I probably wouldn’t ever come back to this account—and likely try to forget Not Now altogether—if I didn’t have people like you dropping in every once-in-a-while to remind me that my story was more than just the embarrassing byproduct of a 15-year-olds’ descent into depression. And The Saga Continues

By saga I mean me supervising this 'fake RbbSbb' account on twitter because I want to.

Sooooo as expected our buddy changed his bio to 11, which supports my speculation that it was (obviously) a countdown to Louis' show.

They did tweet some things, but I'll touch on that later, first off the likes: It seems they are continuously trying to raise attention towards Rbb (and Rbb only???) being back in two weeks by sending anonymous statements in peoples CCs.

Also they liked this HIV support tweet- and I found that sweet so im also adding it in, because aweareness is key.

Just like with the 12 they posted yesterday, today they posted an 11. And I got curious to know where abouts they were setting the time to:

If whatever I triod to do here is too complicated (even I dont understand it lmao) basically:

In LA posting time would've been 23:29

In London posting time would've been: 07:29

so if they wanted to (and im speculating this because I did not check) update it on midnight lets say (or close to), then logically the tweet would've come from LA.

Now this thing which then tells us there will be a pattern of when they'll update the countdown

The thing I found weird right, is that they're doing a countdown (supposedly) to Louis' show. So why update on LA time?

The lawsuit started off because of finantial reasons, but it was revealed it was more because of fucking creative freedom.

Management tried to reason with him, he didn't back down. And they continued to do so before an article of the 'lawsuit' was made public, he didn't accept any.

Management tried to paint Valentino as 'ungrateful' and that they were the reason he was a star.

When other people tried to get Valentino to work with/for them, his management stopped him by "threatening to extend the contract" (?) which prevented him from acting.

His sexuality was never really questioned due to the many relationships with woman he had (one which literally was a lesbian)

Lavender Marriages / PR marriages

After his death, speculation that he dated many men came up.

One even said they did the dEEd, but its impossible because they were both in separate countries duh, right? RIGhT????
