All the cutscenes show the characters wearing their suits even in completely casual situations where they wouldn't need to so I was thinking about Why They Would Do That:
Phoenix: Wears his suit all the time because he's reached the point in his life where he expects to be pulled into a case at all times and doesn't feel like constantly going back home to change. It's more of an insurance policy than anything. The only reason he has it buttoned is to disguise the ketchup stain Maya got on his fancy white shirt since he refuses to buy another one
Edgeworth and Franziska: Were taught by the von karma creed to be professional looking at all times. Unfortunately this is their idea of professional
Manfred: He wants people to recognize him and tremble in fear-- what better way to do that than to establish a personal brand?
Maya: Religious / familial tradition reasons
Mia: Died in that fit so she can't exactly go home and change
Godot: Pretty sure all his assets got seized by the time he got out of his coma so he's ride or die with the one suit he has. It doesn't fit as well as he likes bc the coma changed his physique a little bit but w/e. It's fine. He's doing fine. Also he's under the impression the shirt is red, nobody tell him
Apollo: Kristoph got him the suit and it costs as much as the rest of his closet combined so he feels the need to flaunt it. Also he dressed casual for a bar hang with Ema once and she told him he looked like a middle schooler and he hasn't recovered since
Klavier: ok ngl I hc he's been wearing different ridiculous outfits this entire time they just can't sprite it. The man has never worn the same shirt twice I think
Kristoph: One time he wore something Other than his signature suit and someone mistook him for Klavier and it made him so blindingly mad that he never dressed in anything again. He has like 14 identical suits btw. They're all dry clean only and Italian silk
Athena: She actually just owns 7 versions of the same outfit. She's very specific with textures and having enough flexibility (it's the autism) so once she found smth that worked she just got a bunch of identical fits to swap
Simon: Wears the same fit he did on the day of his arrest to "remind himself of his sins" and also because the jacket is really comfy and has big pockets that he hides things in

EXAMINING EVERY ACE ATTORNEY CASE ON THE LIKENESS OF US BEING PAID
The topic that must be finally put to rest considering how every AA protag and money issues go hand in hand, how many cases did we actually get paid for?
PHOENIX WRIGHT: BROKE ATTORNEY
1 - literally spelled out by the game that larry left us with fuckall, a bad omen of the life to come.
2 - nothing could scare the law offices' balance sheet more than the entrance of maya, but in the frenzy of fighting for the life of our workspace we didnt even notice the whiff of the long-lasting implications.
3 - okay this is the first $u$pect that can pay our bills, no way will powers left us without a relatively phat check so GIRL WE MAKING MONEY!
4 - genuinely if edgelord somehow figured that money dont matter in a friendship, either it was my wallet that bullied him into killing himself between these games or he at least had the decency to utilise von karma's leaked pin code situation and allowed us to drain his bank account posthumously. either way my belief that edgeworth got the bill paid here is naively high.
5 - i dont care if lana was going to pay or not bc i billed her for every fucking turn she did at the detention center. either way whether her estate got arrested in the investigation or not it seems like she'd be forced to pay so im staying positive.
ACE ATTORNEY: RAMEN FOR ALL
1 - maggie. what exactly can maggie even pay me. i feel like the case was more of a friend request anyway so we're eating roaches for dinner again, but i also feel that maggie would be inclined to offer at least something. im not sure if putting down a "presumable twenty" counts as success. i'm going to go with no.
2 - maya is starting to get slightly comfortable being a liability to my expenses, this is my first warning girl.
3 - MAXIMUM GALACTIC PROFIT??? OH HE PAYIN. OH HE PAYIN EVERYTHING OUT OF HIS CLOWN ASS. CONFIRMED. FORCED.
4 - this HAS to be a case of the arrested estate being distributed towards paying the fee because i absolutely refuse to live in a world where maya's existence just keeps costing me money. engarde better have paid for it all. the gallows dont drop until he signs my check.
ACE ATTORNEY: TROUBLES AND REMUNERATION
1 - a very big question mark about what can peenie the fail art student pay and whether grossberg is someone who entertains himself a free case. the existence of case 4 may actually suggest something interesting so let's come back to this one later.
2 - i dont care what kind of crippling debt ma$k has because if his wife can allow a bike she CAN, and WILL, pay my fucking fee i dont care. she looks like the type to pay anyway.
3 - maggie. maggie, maggie, maggie. what does it matter musing on how things would've turned out differently if they had actually remembered my face in time. in either universe, this is another expense, in a crisis where my laundry bill is financially ruining me as coffee cups keep flying in my face.
4 - this is a convict already. what can a convict pay to grossberg law offices? suddenly it looks like his gig takes up on free cases bc usually this dude would get a state attorney, right? is grossberg providing such services? if we are getting paid here, it is only the bare minimum it seems, so in retrospect it IS possible for case 1 to have been completely unpaid. as for this one, marking it as unpaid bc Doubt what we'd get could even pay for a single-ply toilet paper + they'd find a way to pay out even less considering the trial technically didn't go through smh.
5 - bitchass fucking fey family, call it THE FEE FAMILY for the way NONE OF THEM ARE PAYING IT!!!! THEY PUT ME IN THE HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chronologically we have edgelord's two investigation games next so:
THESE TWO GAMES FOLLOW SEVERAL CASES CONDUCTED FOR A MILLIONAIRE'S OWN ENTERTAINMENT. WE DO NOT CONDONE MONEY PRIVILEDGE BEHAVIOUR AND WE BOYCOTT THE ANALYSIS OF THESE GAMES.
MONETARY JUSTICE: ACE ATTORNEY
1 - well money was probably one thing in the whole mess there, sure. Dick Wright jailed this barbie girl motherfucker just so he wouldn't pay the bill. girl we making no money era is back.
2 - weirdly enough but god might exist after all because no way the kitakis are not paying me. we are saved!!!!!
3 - in a grand twist, there is also no way that these moneyfucks are not signing me a phat one so big bet a hot meal was had that day! i think after lamiroir regained her memories she just decided that this fee was her paying off child support for both kids and fucked off forever.
4 - boy I lost my god damn job.
5 - an interesting situation here because this case was most likely sponsored by the state since it's testing out the jury system and all so. we got paid? almost three cases in a row? WOE MAMA!
ACE ATTORNEY: DOUGH'S DESTINY
1 - not this shit again. another freeloader caught up in the scheme of my monetary ruin. at the time when a teenager is feeding a company of four. peenie's new drip alone cost us six months worth of rent. girl we eating discarded prison gruel at the dumpster in this dark age of the law.
2 - oh a wrestler AND a mayor? oho. ohohohoho. ohohohohohoho.
3 - the humble beginnings of my empty wallet, innit. sure, let her get away this time. not my first rodeo.
4 - starbuck for the love of god i know they said their budget went down but he is PAYING that bill or im cutting wires on his rocket and doing phantom a favor here. he can afford to pay me.
5 - maya sure evaded leaving her footprint on my taxes but there's such a sweet difference between an employee and an independent contractor and athena saw why. sure, free case! its cost is taken out of your salary, baby. you're not eating for four months. at least.
6 - hey the aquarium folks Surely have the dough, right? they found us themselves too so that's a definite bill here.
BROKE ATTORNEY: NO SPIRIT OF JUSTICE
every case in the russian republic of village kurainovo was free which is a devastating stain on my financial report this year, remember how durke said we probably cant afford three meals per day? hello????
1 - motherfucker. this case actually cost us about 20 brazilian roubles because albi charged us for the magatama edible. the first case that lands us in the negative twenty. incredible.
2 - i fucking. if trucy thinks her main breadwinner status excuses her from freeloading a case that almost landed us in 3m debt then im selling rights to the gramarye IP to bozo the clown. family is Nothing to me. i havent eaten properly since 2016.
3 - stop fucking reminding me. not only that but fucking MAYA. THE BIGGEST EXPENSE IN MY LIFE IS BACK WITH NO JUSTICE DONE TO MY FINANCIAL WELLBEING. i havent showered in months. remember how nick told edgeworth that he "heard" that washing in the sink is good enough in the temple? so he didnt even do that himself. the lowest point of my life.
4 - with the urgency of it all and everything i have a strong suspicion the payment of this case was soba. max of what we're getting is food from that place. im shaking does this count as fair barter economy in their eyes? we're not in ancient fucking egypt.
5 - penniless, fatherless, across two countries too. whats not to like in this world. we havent seen a cent in this entire game.
6 - THE $PROKET$???? HELL YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Let's count the results:
31 cases across 6 games
13/31 cases most likely than not were paid for in acceptable capacity, which is less than a half. if we exclude cases where the situation isn't entirely clear (eg. engarde, lana), that is even less and we are looking at a third of all cases being remunerated for.
despite quite a few of the presumably paid cases involving rich clients, our gig most likely charges standardised fees, which makes the wealth of our clients irrelevant and simply further questions how much we actually made at the end of the day.
they are not lying, we really are making no money. this is concerning. ga'ran was right, fuck the attorneys just go and pick a state-backed position with the forces.

did kolya ever dispose the bodies of alex and julia? (i cant remember if that was their names hehe its been a while...)
because i've been wondering if he got caught and arrested or he just ran off too, OR he just murdered the rest of the officer's? AND HOW DARE HE KISS ANOTHER WOMAN ? was it basically just a plan to get closer to the reader at the end. i got so many questions (im still not healed 😐)
ah i just really love any discussion about stalker!nikolai bcs i really love to hear thoughts and opinions and theories from you guys 😆
well, to answer, julia was 'disposed', sort of. she was, after all, mutilated and stuffed into garbage bags and the rests of her body were thrown at the back gate of the haunted fair—near the forest. alex, well... after y/n and nikolai ran away from the police, alex's corpse was being left on the road but a few police did find him and surround his body as our main couple ran away and had their conflict somewhere.
whether kolya got caught or got bailed or ran off, that's totally up to interpretation. is this an excuse that i don't have storyline for that? no! bcs i do have the real answer on how nikolai is still 'free' even after all that incident and why he kissed the woman.
and below this :readmore:, i'm telling briefly on what actually happened (from the writer's perspective lmao). but again, i did intentionally leave the details bcs i like to have my readers interpret the scenes however they want
so, firstly, whether nikolai does possess The Overcoat in this au does not matter. in my mind, he was caught up by the polices and there are already several implications that he has connection with fyodor still (based from ivan's scene). he complied with the authority while also depending on fyodor (or anyone you want, really... or perhaps himself) to help him with the proofs and accusations. so, yes, he was caught up and complied to the authorities. i believe nikolai is not a man who kill unnecessarily (alex is necessary lmao and julia... well, he killed her bcs she made y/n's life horrible. so she got that chop chop). as i believed he is such a man, i can't really see him murdering all the polices... especially after his funfair was raided, alex's corpse was left on the road near the fair, etc. the most logical way to do this is to play smart. and besides, in BSD universe itself, the polices are kinda weak and like.... how many fucking murderers roaming the BSD world😭 pretty sure nikolai can tweak the law and system easily, especially considering he was a secretary for the ministry of justice years ago.
but! like i said, you can freely think however you want him to escape or be free. he killed the polices? sure! he escaped thru his portal? yeay! he just get caught and spent 3 months in jail? okay! — after all, you are the reader.
secondly, yes, he kissed maya (i was hurted too writing that goddamn) and fortunately he rejected her offer to have sex because he is THAT loyal. and well, while he made out with maya purely to manipulate the poor lady emotionally to get to the reader, but hey :) at least he kissed you back thousands times more desperate and hungrier and passionate.

can you imagine going through what maya fey experienced in aa1. you meet a guy through the death of your sister. he is kind and believes you when no one else does and he defends you; you're grateful, but you can't even feel that gratitude fully in the mess and chaos that is your life now. you can channel now, apparently: your existence is what can bring your sister back to life, but your existence is what stops you from talking to her. the guy who defended you can talk to her, the people in court can see her, the kid with the steel samurai trading cards can talk to her, but you can't. you like the steel samurai, too: a shame the actor from the show got arrested for murder and you won't be getting any new episodes - just like you won't be getting any more of your sister, your comforts got stripped away from you one by one in the most cruel of ways.
one thing you do remember your sister saying is that you should take care of nick, so you do that. he's rude, sometimes, but mostly nice. the first thing you see when you open your eyes after channeling mia is the disappointment in his eyes; he doesn't mean to express that, really, and who can blame him, but it's still there. you wish you could have that look yourself, to at least have the feeling of getting too little of your sister rather than getting nothing at all. you remember that feeling well after every phone call that was too short and every word that was too vague. at least she was there sometimes.
you spend most of your time in the office, and it should feel familiar, but it doesn't. you look at the books your sister used to read and at the things on her table, expecting a sense of familiarity, recognition, something, but it's not there. you shared everything when you were kids - how could you not - but now you just wish you could have known the person that she was as an attorney, in this office. he got to know her as that person. you listen to what he tells you and paint a picture in your mind with that. the picture falls apart every time.
you help as much as you can with the latest case: it seems to be important to nick, but no matter what you do, it's not enough. you wake up after you're tased, worn out from channeling and walking and, well, being tased, and you can't keep the feeling to yourself anymore. you confess you wish to not have woken up. it's a moment of weakness, and you never say it again because of how much the admission hurt.
you keep trying your best, for now and forever.

Hello! Can I request Miles, Phoenix, Franziska, Manfred, the Judge and Dick with a female anarchist child reader?
Reader is a homeless 12 years old who lived all her life in the street. She was raised by other homeless and even got an education from them.
Reader is street smart and smart in general, she's nice to old people and poor/homeless people but is an anarchist in heart and hate all that touch the legal/financial system.
She's a little delinquent too, making illegal street art, steeling things (food, clothes, nice little things for her and the other homeless) and regularly messing with the police forces for fun. She was arrested many times, but never got judged since she's only 12.
Things are that reader is a key witness in a murder case. Her testimony is very important for the trial. The only problem is... she refuse to say the truth or even testify correctly. Taunting the lawyer, prosecutor, police forces and even the judge for their inefficiency.
The truth is, she hate how "the normal society" view her and the other homeless/delinquents and how they treated them. So why helping those who rejected her and her people.
How they convinced her to be at their side is up to you.
Thanks!
Platonic headcanons Little Anarchist
⚖️ Phoenix Wright x child fem!Reader 🚲
Phoenix was not very good at communicating with children. That's why when you met him, he didn't know what to do. You were a homeless girl who turned out to be a witness in a murder case. You saw with your own eyes everything that happened and it would seem that you should have told the police, the prosecutor, or at least him, the lawyer, about everything, but it was not so. He realized this when your testimony, which he received from the police report, was radically different from what you told him
He tried to find out from you about it, but pretty quickly he found out that you were openly mocking him. At first you didn't talk about yourself and didn't answer the question why you refuse to cooperate, but your patience quickly ran out. You shouted loudly that you would not help the system that rejected you and your family. As it turned out, you were homeless and considered other homeless people as your family. It was unknown where your blood relatives were, but you clearly didn't want to help people connected with the law. You were wary of everyone, even Maya, but you usually didn't express any obvious negativity towards her. However, Phoenix understood that without your help, the real criminal would remain unpunished
After the first day of the meeting, he decided to try to talk to you again. At first you didn't want to talk to him. You just wanted to spend time with your family. However, when Phoenix said that the killer could kill you or someone from your family because you were a witness, you were visibly worried. You and Phoenix talked for a long time, after which you were able to come to an agreement. You didn't want people close to you to suffer, so you agreed to tell the court about what you actually saw
Even after the case was closed and the criminal was in prison, Phoenix continued to communicate with you. He and Maya visited you, brought various things and helped you and your family. They understood that you didn't become homeless because you wanted to, but you were a smart girl who could have a bright future and if you had agreed, Phoenix would have tried to help you get into school or improve your life in other ways
⚖️ Miles Edgeworth x child fem!Reader 🚘
Edgeworth is sometimes seen at the police station. He didn't understand who you were, sure that you were a bully or just a kid who often ran away from home. However, when you were the only witness to the murder, he found out that your situation was much more complicated than he could have imagined. You didn't have a home, your family were homeless people with whom you lived and you hated the police and the entire judicial system as a whole and he couldn't get honest testimony from you
Several times he tried to talk to you himself. Each time your testimony differed from the previous ones and it was not clear if there was any truth in what you said. He tried to stay calm, but you did everything to make him lose his temper. Sometimes it even seemed to him that you didn't really see anything but were lying to annoy the police. However, when he went to look for you after the first day of the court session, he found out that you really saw something. This was confirmed by other homeless people with whom you lived
They told him that on the day of the murder you were in the next building where the murder happened. You ran to them scared, but despite that you didn't tell them about what happened. It was thanks to one of the homeless people that the police found out that you were a witness to a murder that happened. When Edgeworth told you what he found out, you looked annoyed. You didn't want your family members involved in this, but Miles told you that your family's safety depends on you. He was sure that the killer would try to get rid of the witness who knew the truth if he was free, which means you and your family would be in danger. His words had an impact on you
You couldn't keep hiding the truth when the lives of your family members were at risk. That's why you were honest about what happened at the trial. You breathed a sigh of relief when the killer was found guilty. Every time Edgeworth saw you at the police station, he turned a blind eye to some of your misdeeds and helped you to the best of his ability. He gave you money and tried to help you and your family start living better. It was the least he could do
⚖️ Franziska von Karma x child fem!Reader ⚜️
Franziska didn't have much patience, so when she found out that a police detective couldn't get testimony from a key witness in a murder case. She got angry because of this and she went to conduct the interrogation herself, but when she saw the witness, her resolve weakened for a few moments. That witness was you. You were a twelve-year-old girl in old, many times darned clothes and with a look full of contempt and irritation, and even the formidable appearance of the prosecutor did not cause you fear and did not destroy your determination not to tell the truth
She tried several times to get the information she needed from you, but you didn't tell the truth. You've changed your testimony a lot of times, confusing the investigation. At first Franziska assumed that you were connected with the suspect, but she learned from the detective that you were a frequent guest at the police station. You were caught stealing and painting on the walls of various buildings. You were homeless and lived with other homeless people. You were caring towards those whom you considered members of your family, but you were distrustful of the police and everyone connected with the judicial system. Franziska felt it for herself when her patience came to an end. She started shouting at you, but you responded by shouting too, although even grown men were lost when she was angry
She spent a long time trying to find out from you what she needed. For all the time that the investigation was conducted, she managed to get attached to you and find out your story. She found out that your parents abandoned you and the tramps took you in. They took care of you and you took care of them in return. You were angry that others turned away from you, your family and other people who found themselves in a difficult situation. That's why you didn't want to help the police. Franziska talked to you for a long time. She was able to convince you that the system was really not always fair, but deceiving the police you will not do better and the criminal will be released. It was able to convince you to tell the truth
After the criminal was found guilty, Franziska decided that you could grow into a decent person, so she decided to take care of you herself. She gradually gained your trust and intended to take you with her to Germany so that you could grow into a person who could change the system and make sure that the people you considered your family and similar people could live much better than you and your loved ones lived
⚖️ Manfred von Karma x child fem!Reader 🔫
Manfred von Karma was not the most patient person. For the sake of closing the case, he was ready to go to great lengths. Therefore, when he found out that the investigation was not progressing due to the fact that the witness was constantly changing his testimony, he felt annoyed. He couldn't let this ruin his perfect string of victories, so he decided to take up the witness interrogation himself. However, he did not expect that this witness would be a twelve-year-old girl. It was you. A homeless girl who saw a murder, but lied to the police about what she saw
You didn't care about what the prosecutor was trying to find out from you. You continued to hide the truth, ignoring all his discontent. You weren't going to tell him what really happened. He even started to put pressure on you, but you weren't afraid of his threats. You knew he couldn't put you in jail, so you weren't afraid of him. Even when you were told who exactly he was, you did not change your position, continuing to change your testimony every time
He had to resort to threats. You didn't care what happened to you, but when he started threatening that people close to you would be in an even more difficult situation. You couldn't let that happen, so you had to tell him the truth. You weren't sure if he needed the truth or if he just wanted to hear from you what he needed. You were angry and left after the court hearing, not wanting to see him ever again in your life
Your opinion about the judicial system has only strengthened. You understood that no one would believe you if you said that the prosecutor threatened you, so you were forced to remain silent. You just hoped that Manfred von Karma wouldn't ruin the lives of your family members after closing the case
🚔 Dick Gumshoe x child fem!Reader 🐶
You and Detective Gumshoe met before the murder took place. You were brought to the police station several times when you were caught stealing or painting on the walls of city buildings. He didn't understand why you did it every time, but he couldn't hold you accountable for your actions anyway, so he tried to appeal to your conscience, but you didn't listen to him. When you were brought to the station as a witness, he knew your story and the last thing he wanted was for you to get involved in this case
He took over your interrogation, trying to soften it for you, but you were silent, did not tell him about what really happened. All he knew for sure was that you were a witness to a murder. This worried the detective. He knew that you were a smart and kind child, but sometimes you could be rude because you didn't trust the police and everyone connected with the judicial system. He tried to take care of you as much as he could. I brought you a snack and didn't let others be rude to you, but you kept silent
Gumshoe talked to you for a long time, trying to convince you to help. If it was someone else, you would never have told the truth, but the detective helped you for a long time. He treated you to delicious food, bought groceries and necessary things for your family and helped you in any way he could. He was the only cop who cared about you. That's the only reason you told him the truth, knowing that it was important to him and that he would not deceive you
Even after the case was closed, he continued to take care of you. He didn't know how hard your life was, but he didn't want it to be even harder for you to live than it is now. Sometimes you forgot that you should be mad at him. Sometimes you thought that if there were more police officers like him, then maybe it would be much easier for you and your family to live
👨‍⚖️ Judge x child fem!Reader ⚖️
It was not the first time the judge saw how children became witnesses at meetings. In all the years that he worked in court, he saw a lot of strange things, so he was not surprised when a twelve-year-old girl acted as a witness in a murder case. You didn't look scared, on the contrary, you were annoyed and didn't hide it. However, he quickly realized that it would be a very long court session, because when you were asked to repeat your testimony, you told a completely different story
You didn't tell them what really happened. Because of this, the court session was greatly delayed. When the court session was postponed to the next day, he met you in the corridor. He saw you trying to steal some food from the cafeteria. He didn't expect this, but instead of calling security or somehow interfering with you, he paid for a full meal and treated you to it. All the time that you ate with him at the same table, you did not stop looking at him suspiciously from time to time
During lunch, Judge tried to talk to you. At first you were in no hurry to talk, but then you told me why you didn't tell the truth. He was surprised when he found out that you were homeless. He didn't know how to help you, but he tried to at least make sure that you would leave well-fed and you wouldn't have to steal food for at least some time, which is why he gave you money so that you could buy food and things that you and your family needed. You were surprised by his action and looked at him with the same suspicion, but the next day you did something that surprised Judge. You told the truth about what you saw
When the court session ended, you told Judge that the only reason why you did it was because he helped you. You were grateful to him for helping you yesterday, but you're not used to being beholden to someone, so you decided to help as best you could. Judge hoped that over time your life would become better than it was at the moment and was ready to try to help you if you turned to him for help

I just remembered that Simon and Maya are the same age. At first they didn't get along, but then they became friends. About Maya: 7 years later, Diego became a real big brother for Maya. During this period, she got used to spending a lot of time with him (well, he was forbidden to leave the house). That's good cause Phoenix give all his time to Trucy and part-time jobs. Maya really did not want to share Mr. Armando with Simon, so in the beginning they did not get along (especially because Simon is reason why Diego slowed down his transfer to house arrest). About Simon: The first year in prison was the hardest for him, so he is very grateful to Armando and sees him as a teacher/big brother. After Armando was placed under house arrest, they began to correspond. They have many metaphors which understandable only to them, with the help of which they could talk about the personal things, despite the fact that the letters are read by the poliсe. But they could gossip about other prisoners even without the cipher, huh. Simon had no one else (he was in a quarrel with his sister), so he is very attached to his former cellmate, even 7 years later. Godot‘s headcanon timeline:
 - During house arrest, Armando joined Wright & Co. as a legal advisor. Despite he being under house arrest and hasn't his badge, he had many clients willing to come to both Phoenix's apartment and to Maya's village, where he moved when she came of age to sign the consent and fix her old manor. He is allowed to receive guests with the notice of the warden, but is forbidden to use the Internet. - At the same time, he was helping Maya with business: legal subtleties, advertising, once they opened a mini-coffee shop right on the estate ... - After his release, he began to accompany Maya in all ghost-sessions and on all trips, cause he believes that she needs protection. Frankly, Diego is useless in fights even with a shocker, but his paranoia does not allow him to sit quietly at home. - Then Miles became chief prosecutor. He fired all the corrupt subordinates and that's caused a shortage of personnel. Thanks to this, Diego was reinstated. After everything that happened to him, he could not return to the role of a attorney, but he missed the court very much and was very glad to return to the prosecutor's office. - Phoenix was shocked that the most competent lawyer left Wright and Co. and decided to return his badge too. - Diego was helping Miles sort out Simon's case while Phoenix was recruiting Athena. - Diego was in the kingdom of Khura'in with Maya, so Phoenix did not worry much about her in a foreign country with a dictatorial regime. However, Diego ended up in a local hospital, so he could not help her. He's fine, just angry that he missed important things again.

Content Warnings: in more general terms I want to remind people to be aware of the nature of Kaz and Inej's experiences and relationship since even if I'm not directly addressing these things they tend to be implicit in any writing about them, but specifically to this chapter there's ptsd references, discussion about drowning, threats, violence, and there isn’t any child death taking place but it is talked about so I wanted to mention that just to make sure I’m being clear
Chapter 15 - Kaz
“What are the chances of being arrested if I murder a member of the Merchant Council in broad daylight?” Kaz snarled as he limped into the Crow Club.
He was finally going to give Ethan this Saints-forsaken financial record. Part of him was hoping the boy was guilty after all, so he’d have an excuse to kill someone. Annika looked up from her table and snorted a short laugh.
“For anyone else pretty high. For you? Depends on the Council member,”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning it depends on whether Jesper would shoot you before the Stadwatch got there,”
“Like Jesper could take me,”
She laughed again. Kaz didn’t have time for that. He flung two bags of coins into her lap and marched on past as he said:
“One for you. One for Rotty. Keep the tables busy,”
Annika’s mock salute was the last thing he saw from the corner of his eye as he headed straight for the back room.
Ethan sat, alone, behind his desk, head half buried in the books until Kaz hit his cane against the doorframe to summon some attention. Ethan flinched and threw his head up, and upon seeing Kaz found himself somewhere between relieved and even more anxious. He closed the book in front of him with slightly trembling fingers.
“Kaz, you - I don’t-”
Kaz dropped the record into front of Ethan, open on the Olsen transaction. He took in Ethan’s twitchy manner and dishevelled appearance with a slow study if the boy, who was now leaning over and blinking several times to read the words.
“When did you last sleep?”
“Wh- I don’t- I was waiting for you,”
Ghezen, the kid hadn’t left the room since Kaz told him he’d be back with the ledger.
“It’s been 30 hours,”
“You said you didn’t know how long you’d be,”
“Well you’re useless to me like this. Go back to the Slat and get some sleep, we’ll talk about this tomorrow,”
Ethan left in a haze and Kaz shook his head as he took a chair and pulled the most recent books towards him. Something was telling him the last 2 days of adding were going to need redoing, and besides it gave him a good opportunity to read through the recent ledgers for any discrepancies. This wasn’t as good a distraction as talking to Ethan would have been, but it was something. Kaz thought of Inej pulling away from him in their little house, dark eyes burning like a fire half- hidden by the black silhouette of the moon. He flexed his fingers in his gloves.
“What was the alternative?”
“Me!”
She was right, in a way, he thought. What would their little piece of the world look like if he had taken the energy he gave to the Dregs and put it into them? A marriage that didn’t rely on letters left from the beyond, safety, security, maybe family. And where would that leave him? Following Inej around Ravka, replacing the fear of the ship with the fear of her falling from the swings? Watching her teach their children the high wire whilst he imagined them falling, saw their little bodies splayed across the concrete? Or would he still be left waiting for her ship to return, tucking the children in every night whilst they asked when their mother would come home and he had no answer to give them? Always passive, always outside, watching her life through a lens whilst he couldn’t find where he fit into it.
She would have her ship, and he would have his city.
Even now that had to be the way it was. He had watched her try to be part of his world for years and known she wasn’t happy, he couldn’t ask her to sacrifice that again. But he didn’t know if he had the strength to sacrifice his world for hers instead.
And now this.
Kaz didn’t want to blame Inej for being angry with him, but she’d read the Saintsforsaken ledger hadn’t she? She knew he’d done nothing to this girl or her father that justified her placing blame on him. Something itched at him in the corners of his mind her shut out. You didn’t want to blame Jordie. Of course he didn’t. But it seemed all a more clean cut affair with Maya’s father, didn’t it?
No matter how Maya felt though, surely Inej could see?
She reminds me of you.
Kaz had no hope of focusing on these stupid ledgers. The numbers swam from line to line, like they were taunting him with the one thing he was supposed to be able to do. This, at least he was supposed to still be good at. A glance, an acknowledgment, and the numbers should have been stored in his mind. The filing cabinets in there scrolling over a decade of records that he could call upon at will. But now he was straining to concentrate, and his mind was filled with nothing but Inej and her dark, burning eyes. Flinching away from his touch. Drowning in the harbour. Thirty hours. When had he last slept? He didn’t want to. The dream came too fresh, too often. That oil black hair spilling around her, floating in the water. Limbs drooping, borne aloft by the waves, fingers in his turning to taut and bloated flesh. He couldn’t touch her. Couldn’t reach her. He was falling from the wire without a net.
He shoved the books away and hurried out, ignoring Pim trying to get his attention as they passed each other near the stairs. He went into his office and slammed the door shut, feeling the shake of his gloved fingers on the lock. He was stronger than this. This wasn’t supposed to happen anymore.
And if it did? He wasn’t supposed to be alone.
He slid down the door and sat on the floor in cold, shivering silence, his bad leg stretched out in front of him. He had to get her, had to explain to her, had to - what? What did he even want to say?
He would move the earth for her. He would kill, had killed, for her. He would die for her. And it didn’t mean anything, because even now he didn’t show it. Because even now, he refused to torture himself with the idea of their future. Their happiness, together. In Kerch, in Ravka, they could move to the permafrost in Fjerda for all he cared. He would carve a life for her in the face of a mountain, if that was what she wanted. But it felt like an infection. It was worming its way through him, and if he didn’t quash it there was every change it might destroy him. Destroy them both. All he was so desperate to give her was impossible to say, because saying it out loud made it real. It made it something that could be lost.
Kaz didn’t know how long he’d sat there before he managed to slowly pull himself back up, weight first in the door handle and then against his cane. There were no lights on in the room. He let the door swing on its hinges as he left, to walk back to the Slat. To force himself to sleep; to let the dream wash over him so he could fight it like he’d fought everyone and everything else.
And so it was as the door swung and the lights remained off, as Kaz limped away in stoic silence and the street lamps began to glow, that no-one noticed the hand reach up from beneath the desk and leave a neat, sealed letter next to the inkwell.

expanding a bit in the Maya Writes Steel Samurai but Uses Phoenix as Base for the Evil Magistrate au, she surely would be the kind of writer who didn't just create a whole new vision of the SS universe, of course after living the Will Powers case and knowing Sal Manella and Dee Vasquez, but also would absolutely would use DL-6 as a big base of it. She knows Von Karma, she got tasered and got into jail by him. She Would do a Steel Samurai who doesn't know (or so he says to himself) how misguided is his own Justice. But also would create a manipulator scene behind it
Inagine if she was there against Gant ahuhuh
She would do a whole fucking series enough for making a book of her own vision of the Steel Samurai, each year encompassing more and more characters and more of her peculiar world view. And I am sure that most of the fanfom would hate that shit because No, Thats Not who The Steel Samurai Is!!!!!!
She would receive so much hate she would probably think its another perk of having bad luck. But its better than getting tasered and kidnapped, whatever.
Shes proba the kinda author that does the "sorry for not updating today! I was falsely arrested :( again :("
Edgeworth would eat those fanfics with gusto though. If he knew the identity of his favorite artists he would fucking put the law at her defense and probably Chide Phoenix for not knowing the dangers of the antis she receives w.
Better for him to not know, though. He deserves to not know how based on real life Maya's stories are.

A/N: Omg not updating has been agonizing for me but it's midterm season and I just spent the weekend in NYC where I saw MAYA HAWKE IN CONCERT (!!!) She is amazing we love her, this one's for you Maya <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Uhhhh…” Steve didn’t even know where to start with his explanation. He looked around at the students bustling through the halls. “Maybe we should -”
“Drama club room, let’s go.”
Dustin led Steve through the hallways of Hawkins High to the drama club room. Once inside, Steve noticed the way the Hellfire table was arranged, including Eddie’s throne at the end of it. Steve chuckled to himself, thinking it was absurd. He really loves this power trip, doesn’t he?
Curiosity tugged at him, though, and a few moments later he was sitting in said throne to test it out. You know, to see if it was as lush as it looked.
(It was)
“Damn, this thing is cozy,” Steve said, admiring the soft velvet on the arms.
“Watch it - if Eddie finds out you sat in his chair he’ll totally -”
“Technically I’m not sitting in the chair, he is,” Steve argued. “And he’s allowed to sit here whenever he wants, right? My actual ass is nowhere near this thing. It could be anywhere, actually. Maybe he got me arrested already or something -”
“Jesus, Steve - shut up about the chair and your ass and just tell me what happened already!” Dustin exclaimed, exasperated. “After I left. Then what?”
Steve recounted the story to the best of his ability. The bullies, the power plant, the lightning, the swap. He intentionally left out the shower thing, due to him and Eddie’s agreement. Thankfully, Steve had gotten pretty good at keeping secrets and pretending things never happened.
“So, yeah. I went to school and he’s been at work now for uhhh -” Steve looked at his watch to double check the time. “Two and a half hours, just about. If he even went to work, I mean. I don’t trust the guy.”
“So you’ve said. Multiple times,” Dustin deadpanned. Steve winced at how much his dislike for Eddie annoyed Dustin, but it’s just the way it was. Eddie was kind of an asshole to Steve.
“Sorry, I’m trying, man, but he just -”
“I know, it’s fine,” Dustin interrupted him. “Okay, so you swapped bodies. How do we get you to switch back?”
“If we knew that, we would have done it,” Steve said with a roll of his eyes.
“Okay, smartass,” Dustin replied. “So we look into when the next big storm is, and we get you guys back to the plant -”
“Woaaah, woah, woah,” Steve interjected. “You want us to get struck by lightning again? Dude, it like - it really sucked the first time.”
“So you just want to stay like this forever, then?”
“I’m just saying there’s gotta be other options,” Steve pleaded, desperate for Dustin to give him the real answer. The kid was smart. He’d figure something out. Preferably something immediate and painless.
“It’s just a theory,” Dustin replied. “Our first theory. It’s a start , Steve.”
“Fine,” he agreed. “So, we go track down a weatherman and ask him when we'll get lightning again or something?” Dustin sighed, squeezing his eyes tightly closed, then relaxed them.
“No, we don’t track down a weatherman. The weather is on the TV or in the paper, idiot.” Steve’s look of realization - raised eyebrows, mouth in an o-shape, slight nod - was one Dustin had seen several times on Steve’s face. It looked much different on Eddie’s. Foreign. Incorrect.
Weird.
“Oh, yeah that makes sense,” he replied.
“We’ll look up the weather later,” Dustin proposed. “But first, we’re going to the video store.”
-
Robin arrived at Family Video at 2:58pm - two minutes ahead of her shift. Eddie had been waiting patiently, adjusting to the boredom of it all, and finding joy in little things to pass the time. Keith had left around 2:30, but nobody had come in since then. He could have left too, but he didn’t. He considered it, but there was a nagging voice in the back of his head telling him to do the right thing. He hated that stupid voice. Eddie always felt like it didn’t matter whether he did the right or wrong thing, he’d always just get the short end of the stick either way. But, as much as he wanted to be the tough-as-nails asshole he presented himself as, and as much as he wanted to ruin Steve’s life, he knew deep down he wasn’t going to do anything. Eddie had ruined his own life. He knew what that felt like already, and he didn’t care to feel that downfall a second time.
So, a new tactic. He was going to be a good person. He was going to try to be a good person, anyway. ‘Kill them with kindness,’ right? He’d already proved that Steve sucked at his job, and that Eddie could do it better. What other ways could Eddie show Steve that he could be some preppy pretty-faced rich kid too, given the right resources? What if Eddie just…stole Steve’s life a little bit? Would that be so terrible?
“Hey,” Eddie said as Robin entered the store.
“Hey, Dingus.” She hardly looked at him as she sped past him to the back room. “You owe me for last night. That old guy we hate came in here and made me describe the plot of like ten different movies before settling on one again.” He followed her voice into the back room, where she dropped her backpack.
“Yikes,” he responded, even though Eddie would have probably been happy doing that, depending on the movies. Robin joined Eddie behind the counter a moment later.
“Okay, so - wait woah, ” she said once she looked at him for the first time. “Steve, your hair. What happened to it?”
“What do you mean?” Eddie knew exactly what she meant. It was frizzy and huge, with bits and pieces sticking up every which way. He looked like a mad scientist.
“You look like Doc Brown,” she said, echoing Eddie’s thoughts. He smirked. “And you’re smiling about it? Who are you and what have you done with Harrington?”
For a moment, Eddie thought the jig was up already regarding his identity. He’d barely said anything and she knew by the hair alone. Figures, he thought to himself.
He assumed she’d keep pestering him about it, but she dropped it immediately, to Eddie’s surprise. She started sorting the return bin, chattering away about her day at school.
“Oh, yeah. I heard Mrs. Lipton is a total hardass,” Eddie replied after she’d finished complaining about a class policy.
“Steve, you literally had her last year,” Robin countered. “Did you stay out all night again or something?”
“Yeah, something like that,” Eddie said. “Right, yeah. I remember now - Mrs. Lipton’s class. That was torture.”
“It’s probably worse than when we actually got tortured,” Robin remarked, so casually that Eddie thought it must have been a joke. He thought about how Steve and Robin had worked together at the mall, and guessed that was what she was referring to.
“Definitely.” He hoped a generic, non-committal response would suffice. Robin was cool, but sometimes he didn’t know how to talk to her because she was just as sarcastic as Eddie, with far less energy in the delivery. He had no idea when she was serious.
“Although, I just remembered the bonesaw,” she said as she continued to shuffle through tapes. “Actual torture was worse. But only by a little.” She smirked, so Eddie did the same, but holy fucking shit? What?
There wasn’t a single way Eddie could make sense of that, unless it was some weird long-running inside joke. It had to be that. Right?
Right?!
A customer came in, successfully distracting Eddie from his internal monologue for the time being.
“Hellooo, how can I help you?” he quickly asked, surprising himself at how well he’d adapted to the job. He finished handling the customer, intentionally asking Robin to ring them up so he could peer over her shoulder and double check how she used the system.
Yeah, he’d been doing it wrong. Ah well.
The customer left, and Robin sighed, searching for a new topic of conversation. She settled on -
“So, how’s Joanna?” She was leaning back on the counter, without a hint of jealousy on her face. Eddie wondered if she and Steve really were just friends, but he doubted it, for some reason. They seemed close, and kind of perfect for each other. They’d worked two jobs together, had weird inside jokes about torture, were brutally honest with each other…
It didn’t add up.
“She’s good. Really good,” Eddie answered, having no idea who Joanna was.
“Better than Maggie?” she asked. Eddie’s eyes widened. He knew Steve got around in high school, but he thought that after graduation he’d cooled things down. Especially after that Scoops Ahoy getup - Eddie hoped that Steve had lost his touch. He’d relished in the thought that Steve had peaked. But nope.
“I dunno,” Eddie answered, lost in thought. He kept looking at Robin’s reactions. She wasn’t fazed in the slightest talking about Steve’s sexcapades.
Robin was pretty. She was smart. Funny. Why wasn’t Steve going for her? Eddie couldn’t figure it out. At first he assumed Steve was leading her on, and that she had an unrequited crush on him that he held over her. But it didn’t seem that way, now that he was talking to her. Maybe they’d already had a history? Maybe they’d dated in the past and realized they were better as friends? But WHY -
“Steve, you’re so lucky,” Robin said with a sigh. “You’ve got all these beautiful girls at your fingertips, meanwhile I can’t even muster up the courage to look at Vicki for more than 5 seconds at a time or I feel like I’m gonna faint.” Eddie took in her words slowly, watching her as she hopped onto the counter and played around with the rings on her fingers. Eddie missed his own rings. He would have been fidgeting with them himself if he wasn’t occupying Steve’s ringless hands. “What?” she asked, after noticing him staring at her. Whoops.
“Uh, nothing,” Eddie replied. I wasn’t supposed to hear that. I’m not supposed to know this. He felt immediately guilty knowing Robin had come out to him basically without her consent. The ethics of it all were weird and complicated, but it still felt wrong. As she continued to talk about being put next to Vicki in the marching band and how excited she was for it, Eddie stared into the distance and tried not to let guilt eat away at him until he was hollow inside.
“You’re acting…weird. Is everything okay?” Her question snapped him out of his own thoughts once again, and he nodded, meekly. “Steve, I know something is wrong. Spill it.”
Eddie wasn’t sure why he directed the conversation where he did. He just figured that, if he was headed to hell anyway, he might as well commit to it. Time for some answers.
“Can we talk about the time we got…uh…tortured?” Robin’s face was curious at first, before it shifted into sincerity. She nodded.
“Yeah, we can. I just know we usually don’t mention it. Is that what’s going on today? Did you have another nightmare or something?”
God, their friendship was so precious it hurt. A half hour ago, Eddie would have been delighted to learn that Steve Harrington had run to his best friend about nightmares, but now it felt different.
“Mhm, yeah,” Eddie answered. “The, uh. The bonesaw.”
“Shit, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought it up,” Robin replied with guilt on her face. Oh, no. Now I’ve made her feel guilty when I’m the one at fault here. Shit. Balls. Abort!
“Not your fault,” Eddie said quickly. “I promise. Just. That’s a really crazy thing we went through, you know?”
“Yeah, absolutely,” she agreed. “I mean, we’ve been through a lot, you and me. Secret spy messages, evil Russians, giant monsters, girls with superpowers, -” Oh, she’s got to be kidding me. No. That’s not real. No way. “- Dustin calling his girlfriend ‘Suzypoo’,” she finished with a smile. He’d heard about ‘Suzypoo,’ and the name made him cringe every time. Eddie would have laughed, had his entire mind not just been blown.
Out of everyone at the school, Robin was one of the few who didn’t look down on Eddie. They didn’t talk much - only in passing, really - but she treated him like any other human being. And here, at Family Video, she was being incredibly kind to Steve. Eddie wasn’t sure if she would have treated Eddie the same, and now he desperately wanted to know.
Here’s the thing about Eddie - once he had a thought, it ached in him until he acted on it. It got him into plenty of trouble, but otherwise he just felt…itchy.
“Nah, you’re good,” he responded. I have to know. “Hey, so you know Eddie Munson?”
“Uhhh, yeah.” She was keeping up with his rapid switching of conversation topics with ease. “Why do you ask?”
“Just, uh. Just curious. Dustin talks about him all the time, you know.” She nodded in agreement. Eddie continued - he couldn’t seem to stop. “What do you think of the guy?” Robin was still unfazed by this line of questioning, somehow. Eddie felt a desperate urge to keep pressing until he felt resistance. The ache was insatiable.
“I think he’s - I guess I don’t really have an opinion?”
This shocked Eddie more than anything she’d said so far, including the torture thing somehow.
“You don’t have an opinion on him?”
“Yeah,” she confirmed with a shrug. “Like, he’s just a guy. We go to school together. I don’t really know him.”
Just a guy?! Eddie was offended for some reason. He’d never been referred to as just a guy before.
“You’re not, like, scared of him or - you don’t think he’s stupid, or a freak, or a druggie, or, like, a future serial killer? You don’t think he’s insane or brainwashing the youth into some kind of satanist cult? None of that?” Those were the kind of descriptors he’d heard his whole six years (and counting!) at Hawkins High. Just a guy? Fuck no.
“I never really bought into that,” Robin replied. “But it certainly sounds like you did.” She rolled her eyes. Oh my god, this is the coolest chick I’ve ever met. “Come on, Steve. I thought I knocked that bitchy judgmental shit out of you.” Please be my friend and not Harrington’s, I beg you.
“Old habits die hard,” Eddie responded. She still wasn’t fazed. One more question. “Okay, so like - hypothetically…” Robin huffed out a short laugh and turned to Eddie, waiting. “If we had never become friends, and we were all still in high school, who would you rather have been friends with? Me or Eddie?”
“This is about Dustin, isn’t it? Steve, for the last time, you don’t have to feel jealous or threatened by Eddie.” Wait, wait, wait. Hold the goddamn phone. Harrington is jealous of me??? He grinned, which probably made him look crazy, but he didn’t care. Steve, for whatever reason, was jealous of Eddie, and now he could die happy. “Dustin loves you, okay? You’ve saved his life - like, many times. Just because he has another older-brother figure at school doesn’t mean he forgot about you. I promise. ”
Well, that was a lot of information. He’d deal with it later, making a mental note to confront Steve about the torture and the monsters and the girl with superpowers and saving Dustin’s life the next time they saw each other. First, he had to get back to his initial point.
“Answer the question, Robin. Me or Eddie?” He could feel himself pushing his luck, going from annoying and quirky into rightfully suspicious territory. She groaned and rolled her eyes so hard she looked possessed.
“You are such a dumbass, Steve. A few years ago? Yeah, it probably would have been Eddie just because you were such a douchebag in Click’s class. But then you and I were brought together by the great powers of the universe, - or, Scoops Ahoy and the Russians, I guess - and I found out you’re actually my platonic soulmate, and I’m here with you, dingus. Not Eddie. Can we move on?”
Before Eddie could even process the irony of her comments (and how giddy her answer made him), the front door opened. The pair turned towards it, ready to handle whatever customers were coming in.
Eddie’s jaw dropped. He knew the people in front of him, and he had to say - he preferred the strangers. He was just getting a taste of this life, and he didn’t want it to end, yet.
“I honestly didn’t expect you actually to still be here,” Eddie watched himself say in the doorway.
“Okay, what is going on?” Robin asked. “Why wouldn’t Steve still be here? Am I being pranked or something? Steve, you know I hate -”
“That’s not Steve,” Dustin said, pointing at the man beside Robin. Her face contorted into confusion.
“What?!”
“You know?” Eddie asked Dustin, who nodded.
“He figured it out,” Steve added.
“Smart kid,” Eddie acknowledged.
“I mean, yeah,” Dustin replied. “But Steve is also a really bad actor.”
“Shocking,” Eddie said. Robin pressed her fingers to her temples.
“If someone doesn’t tell me what’s going on in the next ten seconds I swear to god I will -”
“Eddie and Steve swapped bodies,” Dustin explained, pointing at the two men.
There was a solid beat of heavy silence. Nobody knew what to say. Eddie finally settled on -
“Uh, yeah. That is in fact what happened.”
He looked at Robin’s astonished face. She didn’t even bother going through the denial phase of all this - if what she’d been saying was true, she probably had just learned to accept all batshit insanity. Then, Eddie realized that must have been why Steve had been so passive about the whole thing the night before. The bodyswap thing was weird and awful, but it wasn’t, you know, torture by Russians.
“So that’s why you were asking all those questions,” Robin deduced after a minute. “Wow. Wow, okay. But, like - oh my god.” Her expression twisted into pure fear. “Wait, but I told you -”
“I know,” Eddie said, his hands up in surrender. “I know, I’m sorry. I’m not gonna say anything, I promise.”
“What did she tell you?” Dustin asked, curiously. Eddie looked at Steve, who was also frozen. Eddie had to think fast.
“About, um. The monsters,” he said while flashing reassuring eyes at Robin. She relaxed ever so slightly.
“Yeah, sorry,” she said once she started breathing again. “I was telling Steve - I mean, I was telling him about - well, about what we went through over the summer, and I just -”
“That’s okay,” Dustin excused immediately. “Eddie isn’t going to tell anyone, right?”
“Cross my heart,” Eddie said, genuinely. Who the hell was he gonna tell, anyway? He briefly caught eyes with Robin once again, who stared at him tentatively. She was back to fidgeting with her rings, eyes darting from Eddie to Dustin to Steve and back again. “Promise.”
Her eyes found Eddie and stayed fixed on him long enough to accept his words as truth. Then, she nodded.

putting my stranger things band au out into the world
weve got steve on main vocals/guitar
robin on bass/backup vocals (although there are a couple songs where she takes main)
and max on drums
do they have a specific genre? who tf knows i chose these songs for their lyrics and story but i imagine some would be modified to create a more uniform sound
now for the album in order(please hear me out on some of these):
Dear Reader- Taylor Swift (steves song to dustin)
BNBG- Djo (steve meeting eddie and discovering hes bi)
To Love a Boy- Maya Hawke (robin song!! self explanatory)
Change- Djo (steve reflecting on who he used to be vs who he is now)
Dial Drunk- Noah Kahan (steve gets arrested for xyz and his parents wont answer)
Somebody’s Baby- Sidney Gish (robin song 2!! start of her crush on nancy)
Acolyte- Slaughter Beach, Dog (90% written by steve before eddies death and finished after)
Run the World!!!- Dayglow (written by max! they all call it their fun song but its definitely still more about her ptsd and depression)
Strange Time- Matt Maltese (steve wrote this soon after eddie died)
Coffee- Chappell Roan (duet between steve and robin about their shared ex, nancy. they all ofc still love her and are very close friends but this was written during a rough patch post ronance breakup)
Brother- Fenne Lily (co-written by max and steve about their relationship)
ceilings- Lizzy McAlpine (steve keeps forgetting that eddie has died)
Francesca- Hozier (stobins soulmate song! written by robin because she knows steve feels guilty about dragging her into the upside down but she doesnt regret it because now she has him)
vague storyline is that steve starts getting into music to cope with all of the upside down shit sometime between end of season 1 and season 2. he starts seeing eddie after season 3 and is head over heels for him before eddie (still) dies at the end of season 4 and is (obviously) heartbroken.
after max heals she starts learning the drums to help process emotions better and also around this time robin and nancy start a budding romance. steve learns about max playing the drums and starts having jam sessions w her and later on robin also joins and its just very cathartic for them all. nancy and robin are kinda on again off again until steve and robin write Coffee together which firmly puts them in the past and they remain good friends after. (i love ronance i swear but for whatever reason in this au i just dont see them lasting longterm) (also i feel bad because the story of Coffee feels like it makes out nancy to be a villain and i love her i swear)
after a few years steve, robin, and max decide to start playing local bars and small shows and eventually are discovered and release their first and only album. the album gets wildly popular and they tour for a bit but none of them really wanted fame and decided that they really just preferred making music in their living rooms. they do pop up shows at small venues every now and again and they still consider themselves A Band.
likely they get rediscovered on tik tok or something and everyone is coming up with theories on the story of the album(stupid shit like ‘he said eddie in acolyte right’ ‘no dude he said annie steve isnt gay god some people’ or some weird love triangle involving steve robin and some mystery person) so they all make a video talking about the history of the band and steve comes out and opens up about how some of the songs are about eddies death (which starts another fire once people find out that steves eddie is eddie munson because obviously everyones heard of the hawkins murders at which point steve releases a video basically telling everyone to not talk about shit they know nothing about and to fuck off and leave him alone and after that the band is never heard from online again) happily ever after the end :) i just needed this out of my brain

Hey guys, is there a reason we haven’t done a Laywright bakery/cafe AU? Is it because we technically got one in the game? I haven’t seen one anyway.
Seriously though, what if after getting disbarred and all the backlash, Phoenix decides he and Trucy just need to move. He didn’t plan on getting his own cafe, but he did pretty well in home economics in school and he has experience as a barista to help pay for law school. Plus it keeps his daughter fed so win win.
Then this British kid starts showing up, having tried all over town to find a proper cup of tea. “Please tell me you have something, Mr. Wright!” He doesn’t, but he knows Maya and Pearly sent him a bunch of herb to celebrate his new job. So go nuts, kid. And that’s how Luke Triton becomes his first employee. Kind of. The kid has a habit of getting involved in local mysteries and just disappearing for awhile. At least there’s an influx of customers to see ‘Detective Luke’.
Of course something really weird starts happening and Luke writes a letter to his friend and mentor back in England to see if he’ll come help.
Featuring potential moments such as:
“Professor, this is my boss, Mr. Wright.”
“A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Wright.”
“Nice to meet you too. Luke’s mention you a lot so it’s good to finally be able to put a face to the name.”
“Ah, all exaggerations I assure you.”
“If you insist.”(Hey, if you don’t want to talk about it, I’m not going to push. The less I know you, the less likely you’ll be accused of murder.)
———
Luke running out on work to solve some puzzles
“Luke wait! I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Wright. I do hope this isn’t a regular occurrence.”
“He’s still a kid. I can’t blame him for having a life outside of work. At least we don’t get a lot of customers so he never leaves me short handed.” (Judging by the way you’re suddenly refusing to make eye contact, I can guess where he got that habit from.)
———
Layton and Luke getting cornered when Trucy shows up to help them escape.
“Me and Papa thought you might be getting in over your head, but don’t tell him I was here. He told me not to do anything dangerous or get arrested since he’s tired of dealing with both or those things.”
———
Phoenix using his magatama to get info when a goon refuses to talk even after solving their puzzle
“I must say Mr. Wright, you are rather adept in prying information from a person.”
“Yeah, I’ve had some practice.”
“Former law enforcement I presume?”
“Defense attorney actually, but it definitely felt like I was doing their job too.”
———
Luke complaining about the detective blocking their investigation
(That kind of sounds like Gumshoe…)
“You know these two, pal?”
“Yeah. Luke here works for me.”
“Hey, you started your firm again? That’s great! Wait until Mr. Edgeworth hears.”
“What? No I didn’t.”
“So that must make you an attorney.”
“Does he look old enough to be a lawyer? Hes like ten, Gumshoe.”
Offended Luke noises
“Perhaps it’s best not to dissuade him from his misconception, Mr. Wright.”

may I hear your based opinion on soj appearance of maya?
I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, I did not pay much attention to Maya because I was too busy gazing lovingly at Nahyuta. But from what I did see -
While it was great to see her again after two games, can my girl not catch a break? She's been training non-stop to become the head of Kurain Village, and while some of the overwhelming pressure was lifted off her shoulders because of her mom and aunt no longer being in the picture, it's still a big responsibility - given, she's also older than she was when we last saw her.
Maya keeps her silly weird girl personality but I personally could tell she's matured some, and it's... I don't know, endearing? Nostalgic? Made me feel old even though I don't experience their timeline. That being said, though, she's still cursed by the narrative; got arrested, and then had to witness a man get shot down and die right in front of her (for her sake, mind you) only to be tasked with the responsibility of channeling him so that he could have another happy memory.... And then got wrapped in a whole bunch of other stuff that ended with her spending an entire day on a coma, plus officially became the head of Kurain Village by the end of the game, which she said is going to take up most of her time.
In short - I was happy to see her back, but I would be happier if she could just chill and enjoy life once in a while. I can only hope she's healed from all that happened when she was younger, but with the severity of what she experienced now I also pray for a therapist. Capcom please let Maya rest.

Behold, something I sent my brother at midnight:
"Personal headcanon:
Phoenix had to defend everyone in the Wrightworth/Narumitsu found family in court
Like, Miles, Larry, Athena, and Maya already happened
But he gets a call, and apparently Trucy was arrested AGAIN
So he goes and defends her
And then - uh-oh! - looks like Apollo got arrested
Athena was already defended, so...
She gets arrested again
And Gumshoe gets arrested here too cuz why not!
After that... A few months... Everything is chill... (Larry was arrested here again, but it was the calmest and easiest trial here)
What do you mean Maya was arrested again?
So he defends Maya AGAIN
The, next week, PEARL is accused of murder
And after he defends Pearl, Ema gets arrested
When she is saved, uh-oh, looks like Sebastian (poor boy) was arrested! :O
So he defends Sebastian, checks his phone after the trial...
Yep, back to the detention center because Franziska was arrested
Then, Kay gets arrested after that! Could things get worse?!
Yes, his husband gets arrested again
Someone must be after them I swear to god
Phoenix is so tired at this point it's unreal"

30 Ace Attorney Headcanons!
1. We know for a fact that a lot of women had crushed on Miles, but people worldwide had crushes on Nahyuta because he is absolutely gorgeous. They know nothing of his past and some people had crushed on Simon.
2. Kristoph didn't give forged evidence to Phoenix so that Zak can plead guilty or anything of that sort, he gave him forged evidence and told Klavier so Klavier becomes popular in the world of law. He actually cares for Klavier in his own strict, weird and slightly harsh way.
3. Whenever Miles is flustered, he loses his British accent and reverts back to the American accent he grew up with when speaking English.
4. Klavier calls girls "Fräulein" which means "Missy" or something like that, and gives boys nicknames such as "Herr Forehead" or "Herr Samurai". But whenever he's stressed, anxious, nauseous or REALLY nervous or scared, he reverts back to first names or "Mr. ______" or "Ms. ______"
5. Nahyuta REALLY loved geography and history. He has memorised/memorized all countries, their capitals and a few other states by heart. And he has memorized/memorised the histories of about 5-6 countries.
6. Larry, Maya and Franziska have became uncle and aunt figures to Trucy. They take their roles very seriously because they know that Phoenix and Miles feel safe enough to let their daughter be around them, so they make sure not to be bad influences.
7. Simon is the least getting arrested because Athena was around and they didn't want her picking up on any bad habits. And after getting released, he got used to cursing in prison but upon seeing Athena again, he reverted to his old self.
8. Klavier and Simon are a duo of destruction in the prosecutors' building and they are best friends.
9. During AA4, Phoenix Wright is a recovering alcoholic.
10. Rayfa calls her older brothers "Braid Head" and "Horn Head" and acts more comfortable, natural and informal around them so they can feel a bit more comfortable with her. But they don't realize/realise it and they stick with the name "Your Benevolence" and they try not to get too comfortable or informal around her in fear that she'll dislike it which makes her feel alone and pretty sad.
11. Nahyuta, Apollo, Pearl, Athena, Simon, Kay, Beanix, Trucy and Zak are all ready to throw hands anytime, anywhere.
12. Lamiroir's latest music video is filled with hints of her real identity.
13. People in universe make theories about Lamiroir's real identity but whoever believes in those theories is called stupid. The biggest theory right now is her being Thalassa Gramarye.
14. Phoenix's beanie in AA4 was knitted by Trucy with the help of Franziska.
15. Phoenix got a long-term heart condition when Manfred tasered him.
16. In Turnabout Succession, when Vera looked at Klavier, small portion of her brain mixed him up with Kristoph and she thought that Klavier IS Kristoph. And that small portion manifested her whole, but when Klavier was being sweet and nice to her, she started doubting that he is Kristoph.
17. During AA6, Klavier was back in Germany and he couldn't look at himself without being reminded of his brother. He never knew his brother actually cared for him, and because of that he has a breakdown and cuts his hair. The same haircut for when he was 17.
18. Apollo's sprites in AA5 resemble Kristoph a LOT. Especially when he was testifying. Phoenix felt so disgusted because of that.
19. Miles doesn't care at all about his mother because she abandoned him and his father when he was about 4 years old. [Younger or older if you'd like]
20. Guy Eldoon became a doctor again after the events of AA4.
21. Out of everything that Apollo experienced, the worst event was Clay's death.
22. Miles tries not to get mad at his prosecutors because he loves all of them very dearly.
23. Apollo had black psyche locks regarding the death of his father and Phoenix has black psyche locks regarding his emotions.
24. Apollo and Clay were huge fans of The Avengers, Harry Potter and ANY fantasy series there is.
25. Clay and Mia know each other. They've met before and she was kinda like an older sister figure to him and a mother figure after his mother died.
26. Kristoph was actually friends with Dahlia and Matt.
27. Kristoph knows the real identity of the phantom.
28. The phantom was involved in the smuggling ring case in Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
29. Apollo actually had a teeny weeny eeny meeny shrivelled little small crush on Clay but didn't tell him to not ruin their friendship. Or vice versa if you'd like.
TW: IMPLIED 4BU$3, MENTIONS OF KN!V3$
30. This is a long one and I'll need an image for it. So you know how I have a headcanon that Kristoph and Klavier and half-brothers from mother and that their parents decided to play favorites/favourites with them because Klavier's parent [father or mother, you decide] that is Kristoph's step-parent hated both the kids [3 if you headcanon a sister] and the parent got so mad because of an argument that they slashed Kristoph's hand with a knife. It was so bad that he got stitched up.
Yes he has a cut and here it is:
