You couldn't deny you felt shame. Jing Yuan was so sweet, so doting, but he could get so busy sometimes. You loved him, you truly did, but occasionally, it was too tempting to not hook up with someone else. Just a fling, that's all you wanted. Only enough attention to make up for the lack of his while he was on duty. You didn't expect anyone to get murdered over it.
Things were supposed to go out smoothly. Your husband would be gone for the weekend, so you'd have a one-night stand and sneak back home at midnight. You didn't bother hiding the hickeys since you didn't think he'd be home.
However...
"Welcome home, dear. Did you have fun?"
He was there when you walked in. He was lounging on the sofa, eyeing you as you came in, his figure relaxed with one leg crossed over the other. There was no anger on his face. On the contrary, he smiled and looked more content than he had been in a while. But you could see it.
The glimmer in his eyes, the dangerous red that clouded his pupils. He wasn't angry. He was furious.
You flinched, wanting to shrink away into your coat. How were you supposed to explain this? "I..." Your voice came out in a rasp, throat dry and tight. You swallowed down your fear and tried again. "Yes... I did."
Part of you was still foolishly hoping he didn't know about your disloyalty, that you were overthinking his mannerisms.
Perhaps he just happened to be home early because he wanted to see you, and not because he rightfully suspected anything. Maybe you could still cover this up.
He rose from his seat and came towards you. "Did you now?" His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you against his chest. Your hands shook as they hung by your sides. "Would you like to know what I did, honey?"
It wasn't a question. He didn't care if you did or didn't want to know. He was going to tell you anyway.
His face pressed into your neck, inhaling your scent, humming against your skin. "I followed you." His lips peppered your neck with kisses as his grip tightened. "I have lots of friends in the knights that patrol the area frequently. Imagine my heartbreak when I hear my darling spouse has been sneaking around. I didn't want to believe it, so I had to see for myself."
You trembled in his hold, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. Jing Yuan's tone was frighteningly even, but that only scared you more. You could feel him smiling against your skin. Forced and cold.
"When I saw you enter that man's house, I thought to myself: No, there must be an explanation for this. There's no way you would do such a thing." The more he talked, the more painful his grasp got. His nails dug into your side, threatening to puncture your skin. "So I waited outside for a while and sure enough, you came out a mess." His gaze became more narrowed, trailing down to the angry hickeys covering your skin.
"You stunk of alcohol and sweat, with all these nasty marks all over you. Even on your collarbone. Absolutely shameful."
You winced. "I'm sorry-"
"Shh." Jing Yuan's lips covered your own in a deep kiss that tasted of wine. "You were lonely without me, right? You wanted attention. I understand. There's no need to apologize. I know I haven't been paying much attention to you, so it's natural for you to look elsewhere."
Despite his understanding words, you felt trapped. Jing Yuan kissed you again and again, tongue swiping against your lips. You didn't have a choice but to open your mouth and let him in, letting his tongue explore every inch of your mouth.
He usually took his sweet time tasting you, but this time, he was impatient and sloppy. You could only grip his arms, whimpering as he poured all of his pent-up anger into the kiss.
When he pulled away, your knees threatened to give out on you. His mouth remained close, the warmth of his breath grazing your lips.
"You'll just have to make it up to me." His hand slithered under your coat and slid it off, his fingers stroking the marks on your shoulders. "These look painful. I never knew you liked pain. But I guess I never knew you were a whore, either."
His words pierced you like daggers, tears spilling from your eyes as you choked back a sob. Jing Yuan's cold eyes softened at the sight, cooing at you.
"Don't cry, sweetheart. It hurts me too when you cheat." His fingers stroked your cheek, catching some of your tears and licking them off his fingers. "I'll take care of you now, okay? Let me be your husband again." He guided you into the bedroom, pushing you onto the bed. "I'm going to fuck all of him out of you, so when I'm done, you'll only remember me. And all the other men you've seen."
Before you could protest, he flipped you onto your stomach and pulled down your pants. You squealed as his hand came down on your ass, leaving a red mark that would surely bruise later.
His palm was ice cold on your hot skin, soothing the sting from the impact.
"I want to forgive you, but I'm not going to lie to myself. You hurt me. I'd never hurt you like that." He paused, feeling between your legs. "And now you're getting aroused by this? Maybe I really have been neglecting you." He stood up to unbuckle his belt. "Let me remind you what sex feels like with someone who loves you."
You glanced back at him over your shoulder, watching him stroke himself. He looked down at you, an unsettling smile on his face.
"You know I love you, right?"
Jing Yuan climbed onto the bed, fingers tracing up your leg before pressing into your entrance. You whimpered as he eased them inside, not used to being stretched so suddenly. But he didn't care.
He thrust his fingers in and out of you, moving his fingers in scissoring motions to spread you more. You couldn't stop squirming beneath him, struggling to adjust to his pace.
"Answer me," he demanded. His fingers curled inside you.
"I do! I-I do!"
He hummed and removed his fingers, staring down at his hand covered in your wetness. He admired the way his wedding ring glistened in the low lighting, but not for long.
His gaze lowered to your reddened, flustered face, making his cock twitch.
"Good. Because I really do love you." He lifted your hips up, guiding the tip of his cock to your hole. He pushed into you and watched as you squeezed your eyes shut, desperate moans falling from your lips. Your walls wrapped around him, and he wanted nothing more than to absolutely wreck you.
So he did.
His hips snapped against yours at a rough pace, hands gripping your waist tight enough to leave finger-shaped bruises. Your moans and the sound of skin slapping skin filled the room. But the way you cried his name was the best song to his ears.
If he weren't mad with jealousy and frustration, he would've taken a few seconds to grab his phone to record. But he needed to chase the image of that man out of your mind first.
He reached around you and started rubbing the sensitive bundle of nerves between your legs. He sunk his teeth into your shoulder, grunting against your skin. His touch sent you spiraling into an orgasm, juices gushing all over his cock.
Your tightening walls drove him towards his climax as well, and he came inside of you with a satisfied groan.
Your eyes were blown wide as you felt his cum fill you up. Jing Yuan panted above you, not having the energy to pull out yet. After a few seconds, he did, watching his seed spill out of you. His hips gave a few lazy thrusts into you as if trying to push it in deeper.
"You took me so well, sweetheart." He laid down next to you, bringing your shaking body close.
"Are you still mad at me?" You breathed in his scent.
He chuckled. "I'm no longer mad. In fact, I'm happy. You just confirmed my suspicions that you can't be trusted on your own."
You didn't like the sound of that. "What do you mean?"
He brought a hand to your neck, stroking the skin there. "You have a wild spirit. So it's only natural that I'd need to watch over you closely, right? So you don't wander off again. How can you cheat on me if I'm the only person you see?" He ignored your frightened expression and snuggled you close to him. "This is for the best. Everything I do is for you, Y/n."

summary: Two years ago, you finished your PhD and moved to Vermont. In the time since, you’ve gotten a job as a college professor, had your heart broken, and sworn off relationships entirely. Enter Joel, the father of one of your students, here for Homecoming Weekend – and too attractive to resist.
warnings: 18+, minors dni, no outbreak, age gap (reader is in her late 20s, Joel is in his late 40s), alcohol consumption, fluff, smut, masturbation (f), mutual pining(?), sexual tension, grinding, oral (f receiving), fingering, unprotected p in v, creampie, cumplay / cum eating, some light biting, use of pet names (darlin’, sweetheart, baby, etc.), reader has an asshole ex, no use of y/n
a/n: my first Joel fic! This is honestly a bit self-indulgent but I love fall and academia and Joel Miller so sue me okay. ty to my bby @caffeinated-validation for reading through this and offering your insight -- get you a partner who will beta your filthy Joel Miller smut for you lmao <3
You’ve gotten used to being alone.
You don’t mind it as much as you had a few months ago, the breakup still fresh, every touch of your own fingers seering into your skin when you’d remembered the way he’d touched you, the sound of your voice almost unrecognizable as you’d convince yourself each day to get out of bed and go to work, where you’d inevitably run into him. It was painful then, having to come home to the quiet, always far too aware of the sound of your own thoughts drumming against the inside of your skull.
Now though, you revel in that quiet. Sip your coffee in silence each morning. You’ve learned how to stay lost in your work, bringing home stacks of papers to grade and eating through texts to support your research while your dinner gets cold on the table in front of you. You’re well aware that this isn’t the healthiest way to cope, to just avoid it all, but it’s better than feeling.
You’ve sworn off relationships entirely. It’s a silent promise to yourself – that you’ll remain married to your work. You will devote all of your energy to making sure your students excel and that your research is strong. That is your life’s purpose, to make use of the PhD you worked so hard to get – not to be someone’s girlfriend or wife. And you’re fine with that, really. You’ve become immune to loneliness – or numb, maybe.
Regardless, you welcome the independence. You don’t have to worry about anyone else’s thoughts or feelings when it comes to the way you spend your own time. You’re free to do whatever you want. You can draw yourself a bath, fill it with bubbles, sit in it while you drain a bottle of wine into your mouth until the water runs cold. You can eat an entire box of dry cereal in one sitting while you re-watch your favorite show for the twentieth time. You can make yourself cum at any hour of the night with your vibrator or your shower head or your hand – and then go to work the next morning without a semblance of guilt.
Really, you like being alone.
Until you don’t.
Tumblr media
Its Homecoming Weekend at Sarah’s school.
She had insisted that Joel didn’t have to come, that it was mostly an opportunity for the college to milk donations out of sentimental alumni. But he’d missed her for the month she’d been gone, the house far too quiet with just him in it. In previous years, Joel had busied himself following Sarah’s departure with home projects. Three years in, though, he’s updated just about every room in the house,  re-done the floors, built a brand new back deck.
In other words, he’s fresh out of distractions.
So, he’d made the trek to Vermont,  with the excuse that he’d always wanted to experience a New England fall. It’s a lie, one that Sarah can probably read right through, considering he vocalizes his discomfort whenever the temperature drops below 70 degrees in Texas, but she goes along with it.
Besides, he wants to see what his tuition money is paying for.
In truth, Joel had been nervous when Sarah announced what major she’d decided to pursue. She had just finished her freshman year, prerequisite courses all completed. When she’d said the word – anthropology – Joel hadn’t even been sure what it meant. Since then, she’s explained it to him many times and in truth, he’s still none the wiser. Really, he’s just happy that she’s happy. Her passion for it is evident on her face any time she talks to him about the courses she’s taking, how great her professors are.
Especially you – she talks about you all the time – her mentor.
You’re supervising her on her thesis project – a qualitative assessment on students’ views on feminism and gender politics in the classroom. This past summer, Joel swears Sarah had mentioned your name more than her own friends’. She’d told him what courses you teach, what research you’ve conducted, all the countries you’ve traveled to for fieldwork. And she gives the best advice – Sarah had said one night over dinner – she’s like, my lifeline at school.
Joel doesn’t know you, but he’s thankful for you – for the guidance you so clearly provide Sarah.
There’s an Open House today for the Social Sciences college, which Joel tags along with Sarah to. He’s hopeful that he’ll learn something, come to understand the field and why Sarah loves it.
A buffet table stocked with refreshments sits on one side of the lecture hall. Sarah grabs them both cups of water infused with cucumber while Joel saves them seats at the back. There’s a slideshow projected onto the white board at the front, the current slide reading: An Introduction to the Social Sciences College & Our Current Research Efforts. A group of professors gathers at the front, name tags stuck to their button-downs and blazers. Sarah spots you as she sits down, pointing you out as she hands Joel his water.
“There – that one’s my mentor – the one in the plaid pants.”
Joel’s eyes follow her finger to the group at the front,  scanning down the line. There’s a man, short and stocky with noticeably small hands hooked by the thumbs in the belt loops of his pants. Next to him, is a woman, taller than him, wearing a bright turquoise silk shirt, gold bangles decorating both of her wrists. And next to her is you, in the plaid pants.
Sarah had told him a lot of things about you, but she’d never mentioned that you’re fucking gorgeous. You’re smiling at something Turquoise Shirt has just said to you, and it’s like your entire face is glowing. Joel has to take a sip of water to collect himself.
He doesn’t take his eyes off you for the entirety of the presentation.
The dean of the college starts by briefly covering each department and what research efforts they have planned for the semester. Joel should be listening, he came here to listen – but he can’t get himself to focus on anything other than you.
You’re mostly focused on the presenter. Every so often, though, you distractedly toy with the buttons on your cardigan or twirl a strand of your hair between delicate fingers. And Joel is suddenly realizing how touch-starved he is after years of refusing to date – because just watching you, your hands – is about to send him into orbit.
You’re well-spoken too, he learns, when you take the microphone to discuss your current research project.
“This semester, I’ll be delving into the presence of food deserts in Vermont, and the effects these are having on the overall health of youth in the state,” you say. “We have received a sizable grant for this research, and I am thrilled to get started in a matter of weeks. This project will span the better part of the academic year as I speak to locals and craft surveys that will provide qualitative data to support my findings from the field.”
You press down on the clicker in your hand. A new slide projects onto the whiteboard. It’s a photo of you against the backdrop of a jungle, lush, green trees stretching past the top of the frame. The wide-brimmed hat you’re wearing covers most of your face – but that damn smile radiates through the makeshift screen.
“This is me last summer, in Peru. My research here was much more self-indulgent – I studied the important role that food plays in the average family there – and ate wayyyy too many sweets.”
The crowd laughs. It’s the first reaction they’ve expressed this entire time.
It’s entrancing, the way you command the room. You have such a calm confidence about you as you speak, words never once faltering as you stride back and forth across the front of the lecture hall.  Joel isn’t much of a talker – maybe that’s why he feels like he could listen to you for hours on end. He thinks that you could read the damn phone book and his focus would remain unwavering. That your voice, velvet-soft, could spellbind him without much effort.
When your portion of the presentation ends, he’s more than a bit disappointed.
Tumblr media
Students and their families filter out of the lecture hall. You situate yourself in a corner of the room for the actual Open House portion of the event, at the ready to answer any questions or, more likely, offer directions to another part of campus.
You smile as familiar faces and strangers alike pass you, reach for your to-go mug on the table behind you, and take a sip. The coffee is pretty much ice-cold now, but you still gulp it down, only after the caffeine anyway.
You place the mug back down with a light thud against the tabletop. Suddenly, a voice you’ve come to know well rings in your ear.
“Professor!”
When you look up, Sarah Miller is bounding down the aisle, signature smile plastered across her face. And there’s a man behind her, you notice, moving much slower.
He’s tall, broad shoulders pulling taut against the green flannel he’s wearing. He cradles a beige workwear jacket in the crook of his bicep, corded muscle visibly bulging against fabric. His other hand rubs at the scruff along his jaw, pointedly sharp in the patches where hair doesn’t grow.
He has a distinguishable nose, you notice as he gets closer,  strong – large and hooked at the center of his tan face. It’s complemented perfectly by his plush, pink lips that seem to be set in a permanent pout.
In other words, he’s handsome – almost distractingly so, as he stands next to Sarah in front of you.
“I’m so happy to see you,” she beams – turns to the man next to her.
“Dad, this is my mentor,” She says your name.
He nods. His eyes meet yours. They’re deep brown, almost black – and undeniably entrancing.
“‘‘ts nice to meet you, Ma’am. I’m Joel.”
Ma’am.
It’s not like the word is foreign to you, given your profession. There’s something about the way he says it, though, that makes your head spin, his southern drawl dripping in honey-butter and bourbon.
Joel outstretches a hand. You shake it – try to ignore the way it dwarfs yours.
“Joel,” you repeat, eyes locked firmly on the space between his eyes. “Nice to meet you, too.”
“That was a great presentation you gave up there. You’re a good, uh – talker.” His expression is unreadable. His hands fidget at his sides.
You offer him a smile. “Thank you – I think? My students probably wish I would shut up sometimes. Right, Sarah?”
“Oh please,” she scoffs, “as if you’ve never seen your rating on Rate My Professor.”
She’s not wrong – you pride yourself on having pretty stellar reviews – but you also try your hardest not to let them get to your head. Sarah isn’t helping that, right now.
“Anyways,” she exaggerates the word, “what are you up to tonight, Professor? They’re holding an exhibition at the art center later, all student work – d’you wanna come with us?”
Your reflex is to say no. After all, he’ll probably be there. Your ex, Quentin, works in the art history department. And even though you’re over him, you’re not exactly looking for an excuse to be in the same room as him. But you technically don’t have plans tonight, and you can’t even think of a good lie right now with Sarah staring you down.
And then there’s Joel, standing in front of you, all broad shoulders and chiseled jaw – and you think, what a great opportunity to get to know him, you know, as the parent of your student. Definitely not as anything else, anything more. It is Homecoming, after all.
So, you say yes.
“Cool!” Sarah smiles, “Meet you there at 7?”
You nod, tell Sarah that sounds perfect, and that you’ll see them tonight.
Sarah starts toward the door. But Joel stands there for a moment longer. His eyes linger on yours, his wordless stare threatening to burn a hole in your head. You can feel the heat of it, beads of sweat beginning to form at the base of your neck. You tug at the collar of your shirt, trying your hardest to conceal them.
A beat passes. It looks like he might say something, his mouth opening then closing again.
He gives you a courteous nod, turns on his heels, and follows after Sarah.
Tumblr media
Joel hadn’t remembered the food being this bad when he’d visited for orientation. He struggles to keep down a particularly rubbery bite of chicken and reaches for his water bottle, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he focuses on not vomiting.
Sarah laughs next to him. “Hey man, at least you don’t have to eat this shit year-round.”
He grunts in agreement. “Gonna cancel your meal plan next semester and jus’ give you the money to buy groceries.”
She hums. Cocks her head. “That means I’m gonna have to learn how to cook – do you think Student Housing has fire insurance?”
Joel wants to roll his eyes, but it’s definitely his fault – after all, he can barely fry an egg without setting off the fire alarm. Their freezer has always been well-stocked with TV dinners and tater tots. So instead, he just shrugs.
“So what’s this art thing tonight?” He moves on to the salad on his plate, decidedly much safer.
“I don’t really know – my roommate asked me to go, she has some pieces in it, I guess.”
He nods. “And your professor – that was nice ‘a you to invite her.”
Sarah nods, smiles. “Yeah – you like her, right? I mean, you’re sure you’re cool with me asking her to come?” She asks, a mouthful of lettuce.
“‘Course,” he says, attempting to keep his voice level, nonchalant.
“I know you’re not really one for meeting new people,” she teases.
He mock-glares at her. It quickly softens into a smile. “Nah – she seems cool.” It’s an understatement, but Sarah doesn’t need to know that.
She doesn’t need to know that her dad is attracted to her professor.
Joel thinks that he might not have been so great at hiding it, though, when a few hours later, in the middle of watching an unarguably bad student production of Macbeth, Sarah turns to him and whispers that she’s not feeling well.
“Hm, is that right?,” he whispers back, unconvinced.
“Yeah, must’ve been the food.”
“We ate the same thing, Sarah.”
There’s a shout on stage. The actor’s voice cracks.
“Well I dunno,” she continues, “My stomach just doesn’t feel good.”
“Yeah, and what about that thing with your professor?”
He can see her smirk even in the dim lighting.
“Shit, you’re right. And I don’t have her phone number, so it’s not like I can text her...”
She groans. Joel thinks she should be on that stage right now.
“We can’t just ghost her.” Joel has no idea what that means. He doesn’t bother asking.
“Sarah-” he starts.
“Please. She’s such a nice lady, she doesn’t deserve to be stood up.”
He could say no. It’s not like he knows you, owes you anything. But in truth, Joel does want to see you again. And he’s well aware that Sarah might be trying to set the two of you up – ever-perceptive and hell-bent on her dad being happy – but he tries not to think about how embarrassing that feels, his daughter playing matchmaker for him. Because he wants to spend more time with you, get to know more about you, if you’ll let him.
He’s barred himself from forming any kind of real relationship with a woman since Sarah’s mother left. Not because she’d broken his heart, but because he’d needed all of his energy to go to Sarah. As a single father, he had always feared that he wouldn’t be enough for his daughter – wouldn’t give enough – that growing up in a broken home would leave her half of a person. That fear had fueled him to be the best dad possible – to work overtime so that he could provide for them, to never miss one of her soccer games or dance recitals. And so, he had never even considered dating, not seriously, anyway. It would take attention away from Sarah, and he couldn’t risk that.
He’s found it difficult to shake this principle, now that Sarah has grown up. He often grapples with the fact that Sarah doesn’t need him as much anymore – that she’s her own person living her own life. He knows he could date now, could meet someone new, open his heart to them. But he’s so used to fighting that human need for companionship, that it feels almost unnatural to let his guard down.
But now there’s you – your megawatt smile and your impressive intelligence and your care for his daughter – and suddenly he’s forgotten his own rules.
“Okay; I’ll go.” It comes out entirely too enthusiastic.
He can practically feel Sarah’s accomplished, shit-eating grin burning into the side of his head.
Tumblr media
You leave campus around four pm, once the last of the Open House participants have gone.
You take a shower when you get home. Then you order sushi – stuff rolls of yellowfin and salmon into your mouth as you sit at the dining table still wrapped up in your towel, trying your best not to spill soy sauce on the half-graded essays that litter the tabletop. When you’re done, you retreat to your closet, treading on damp feet across the waxy hardwood floor.
And you definitely don’t think about Joel – not when you debate what to wear to the art exhibition, not when your fingers accidentally graze one of your nipples as you put your bra on, not when you get distracted while pulling your panties on by the pool of wetness that has formed between your thighs.
You definitely don’t think about him – because he’s Sarah’s dad, and that would be wrong.
So it’s accidental when his name falls from your mouth, fingers pressed against your clit, visions of large, calloused hands flashing behind your closed eyelids.
You cover your mouth with the curve of your palm to prevent it from slipping out again. Sink back into the mattress.
Then you press your fingers down harder.
Tumblr media
Joel feels like a first-year student, wandering aimlessly across campus in search of the art center. Sarah’s directions had been, well, brief. She’d insisted he’d be able to find it no problem. Now though, in the limited light of dusk, all the structures look the same, bleeding together like watercolors against the evening sky.
He does find it, eventually, a three-story brick building tucked between the library and what looks to be a dormitory. Bright, artificial light seeps through the windows that line the bottom floor. The double doors at the front are propped open, people slipping in and out of them as he approaches.
He looks for you outside, searching for a familiar head of hair, the brown cardigan you’d been wearing earlier. When he doesn’t see you, he reluctantly makes his way up the stairs and into the building.
He spots you almost immediately affixed in front of a painting, studying it intently.
You’re wearing a different outfit than the one you had on this afternoon – a merlot-colored slip dress and a cropped leather jacket. He struggles to ignore the way the satin clings to you, the curves of your body excruciatingly accentuated. He has to remind himself that he shouldn’t get his hopes up, shouldn't expect you to stick around for long once he lets you know Sarah isn’t coming. You’ll probably make an excuse to leave shortly after, and he’ll be back on Sarah’s couch within the hour.
After all, why would you stick around just to talk to him?
You don’t see him when he sidles up next to you. He clears his throat and you startle.
“Sorry,” he brings a hand to the back of his neck. “Didn’t mean to spook ya.”
You take a step back to face him and put a hand to your chest, your breath beginning to even. His eyes wander, for a moment, to where your fingers rest against your collarbone.
“Shit – it’s okay. Where’s Sarah?”
“She wasn’t feeling well, but she said I should still come. Is that – uh – is that okay?” He’s suddenly worried that this was dumb, that he shouldn’t have come, should’ve just let Sarah explain to you on Monday.
But your features soften then, a small smile forming between rosy cheeks.
“Joel, it’s fine; I appreciate you not ditching me.”
“‘Course,” he manages. He’s waiting for you to say something else – that you need to leave. But you don’t, and you both stand enveloped in the pregnant pause that lingers, bright overhead lighting and nerves giving Joel the start of a migraine he’ll have to ignore for the rest of the night.
He clears his throat. Turns to the painting in front of you. “So what’s this one, then?”
The painting in question is a mish-mash of shapes and colors. Joel can’t distinguish any one thing on the canvas. It’s all just a lot of…nothing. He knows it’s not for him when he thinks a preschooler with finger paints could’ve done this.
You bring your hand up to cradle your jaw, brows furrowed in contemplation. It looks like you’ll offer an actual, intellectual interpretation. So Joel isn’t prepared when instead, you say:
“Looks like a bad trip.”
A laugh bubbles out of him, the corners of his eyes creasing.
“Sorry,” you say, between giggles. “That was stupid.”
“No,” he says, swiping a hand over his jaw, trying to physically rub the embarrassing smile off his face. “You’re funny.”
He means it. He’s not sure how it’s possible that you’re funny, when you’re also so smart and interesting and gorgeous. It’s almost unfair. He thinks, fleetingly, that you’re way out of his league – a boring, old man like him.
You continue to the next piece, Joel following closely behind. It looks like it must be by the same artist. The same variation of shapes fill the canvas, just in different colors.
“Alright Cowboy, what’s your take on this one?”
Joel studies it for a moment – tries to find something he can pull out. Something tangible. Something funny, even.
He comes up empty.
“‘ts interesting f’sure. Lots of…colors,” he tries. He realizes how ridiculous he sounds. Laughs. “Shit…art ain’t really my thing,” he admits, arm stretched behind his head.
“So what is your thing?” Your voice is tinged with something – Joel tries his hardest not to let himself believe that it’s flirtation.
Your eyes are still fixed on the canvas in front of you. And Joel is thankful, because he thinks if you looked at him, let those eyes meet his, he’d break – tell you that right now, you’re his thing.
He doesn’t get a chance to answer either way, though, because he’s interrupted by a man’s voice behind the two of you.
“Wow. Didn’t expect to see you here!”
You whip around to face him. Joel turns too. The man is taller than you, but shorter than him. He’s wearing round, wire-frame glasses that sit like a suggestion on his nose, and a full suit, with a tie that has some god-awful, ugly pattern all over it. It looks like the art here, Joel thinks.
Joel’s eyes flit back to you, and he watches as your hackles go up. You back up, bumping into the canvas behind you. You curse under your breath.
“Quentin. Hey.”
“Glad you could make it,” the man, Quentin, says. He swirls a cup of what appears to be red wine in one hand. He leans in closer, brings the other hand up at the side of his mouth to conceal his words. “I know this isn’t really your scene.”
You shift uncomfortably. “Yeah,” you say. “I’m uh, venturing out, I guess. Trying new things.”
He laughs. It’s an asshole laugh, Joel notes. Everything about this guy screams asshole.
“About time!” The asshole puts a hand on your shoulder. You flinch. Joel’s hands instinctively bunch into fists at his side.
“So proud of you,” Quentin says. “Finally letting yourself be a little cultured.”
This guy can’t be serious.
You scoff. Grab his hand and flick it off your shoulder. He looks wounded. Good, Joel thinks.
“Yeah, because traveling the world has left me so very uncultured, Quentin.”
“Hey,” he puts his hands up. “Don’t take offense, baby. I know your little field trips are important, too.”
It’s the last straw.
In one movement, you’re pushing off the wall, shoving past Quentin, and making your way to the exit. Joel doesn’t say a word, doesn’t even look at the asshole, just follows after you out the door.
It’s gotten colder in the short time he’d been inside, he notices. A gust of wind nips at the exposed skin on his hands. He stuffs them haphazardly in the pockets of his jacket.
He finds you perched on the front steps, arms wrapped around your body protectively. He takes a few cautious strides forward. When you look up at him, you’re visibly distraught.
You groan as he sits down next to you. “Sorry. That was embarrassing.”
Joel wants to touch you, put a reassuring hand on your shoulder, but he knows he probably shouldn’t – not right now.
“‘ts not embarrassin’,” he says, instead. His warm breath materializes in the cold air. “Not for you, anyway. That guy was clearly an asshole.”
“Yeah,” you nod. “That was my ex-boyfriend.” You’re  both quiet, then. The two of you sit there, side by side on the stairs, in comfortable silence. A few minutes pass. Joel notices you chewing on your bottom lip, like you’re considering something. When you speak again, your voice wavers.
“Would you want to go for a drink or something? It’s just, I really don’t want to be here anymore.”
For a moment, he can’t believe what he’s hearing – you’re asking him out? He takes a second to respond. You start to backtrack. “It’s okay if you don’t wan-”
“Hey,” he stops you. Makes sure you’re looking at him.
“I thought you’d never ask, darlin’.”
You breathe out a laugh. “Great.” Your hand drops to your side, brushing against his. He expects you to move it. He’s thankful when you don’t.
“I know a place–” you continue – “one that won’t be full of drunk college kids.”
“Great,” Joel parrots you. He stands, extends a hand to help you up. You take it, letting your palm rest against his for a moment longer than necessary when you’re upright.
“Cool,” you say, clearing your throat. You pull up the Uber app on your phone. Joel watches you book a driver. Then you turn back to him with a smile. It’s different from the one he’s seen before. It’s smaller, shyer.
“Larry will be here in 4 minutes,” you say.
Tumblr media
The bar is a twenty minutes’ drive from campus – fifteen with Larry’s lead foot.
It’s more of a lounge than a bar, really – leather armchairs accompanied by low cocktail tables arranged throughout the single large, open room. A brick fireplace sits on the back wall, currently roaring with warm orange flames.
On either side of the fireplace are floor-to-ceiling shelves stacked with vintage books, their illegible titles etched in gold along weathered spines. You can imagine that their pages are yellowed and dusty, and it’s so tempting to swipe one off the shelf to see, to smell.
The light in here is warm, a stark contrast from the bright white of the art gallery. It’s comforting, and you feel your body immediately relax when you walk through the entrance next to Joel.
The bar at the front is busy (it is Saturday night, after all), so you and Joel stand at the back of the crowd for a few moments, waiting for the people in front of you to get their drinks. When a group of men start forcing their way through right next to you, Joel immediately puts a large hand on your shoulder, turning your body towards his. He’s just being chivalrous, making sure you don’t get shoved, but it still sends a shockwave up your spine.
When a spot clears in front of the bar, Joel steps forward, bringing you with him. He orders a whiskey neat, then turns to you, asking what you want.
It’s difficult to think with his hand still on you, so you go with the first words that come to mind.
“Same as you.”
He stares at you for a moment, amused, like he can see right through you and the fact that you’ve never had whiskey in your life. But you hold his gaze, challenging him with your eyes, and he drops it. “Make that two,” he tells the bartender.
Once you have your drinks, Joel slaps a few bills down on the bar. You can tell he won’t let you do so much as offer to pay him back, so you don’t. You lead him through the lounge to a couple of chairs tucked away in the back corner, partially hidden behind an antique wooden partition – far enough from the main seating area, but still close enough to the fireplace that you can feel its warmth.
This is where you always sit when you come, usually with coworkers, once or twice with him. Quentin had been pretty critical of this place, like he is with everything. He’d complained that the wine selection could be larger – that they could have more French options. When you’d explained that most of their wines come from local vineyards, he’d just rolled his eyes.
You’re still reeling a bit from your interaction with him at the gallery, even as you settle into soft leather and feel a burst of warmth against your cheek. He was such an asshole, you think, taking a cautious sip of whiskey. You’re immediately repulsed by the taste of it, and you do a poor job of hiding the grimace that automatically spreads across your face in the crook of your arm.
Joe laughs across from you. “Not your thing? I can go grab ya somethin’ else,” he offers.
“No,” you insist, “this is fine. Just need to get used to it.” It’s a lie – you both know it – but he doesn’t push it.
Instead he leans back, swirls his own glass – which looks comically tiny in his grip – and lets out an exaggerated sigh.
“So, your ex is a real dick, huh?”
“You can say that again,” you mumble.
He quirks a brow at you. “Why’d you even date him?”
It’s a fair question. Why had you dated him? Loneliness, maybe? You’d like to blame it on that, but it’s not the truth – not entirely. Quentin had been kind, at first. He had seemed so interested in you and where you came from and what you were passionate about. He was a relatively good boyfriend, all things considered – until he’d grown tired of hiding who he really was.
You’d gotten a substantial pay raise at the end of your second year at the university. When you’d told Quentin, he’d gone quiet – practically gave you the silent treatment for days on end. When you’d finally worn him down, gotten him to talk, the most he could utter was that he was happy for you; he just wasn’t sure why he hadn’t gotten a raise like that yet.
It’s not like you were in competition – you worked for two entirely different departments, in different colleges. But it had been a constant losing battle nevertheless, to get him to stop comparing your successes. And when he’d found out you actually made more money than him – that had pretty much been the nail in the coffin.
You tell Joel all of this. You’re not sure why you do – it’s not like you can blame the alcohol after one half-sip of whiskey. You feel comfortable with him though, here, like this. He’s a good listener, too, attentively nodding every so often as you ramble.
When you’re done, he’s quiet. He stares at his drink, pursing his lips.
After a beat, he looks up at you.
“You deserve better than that, darlin’.”
You almost crumble under his gaze. His eyes are at least two shades darker than they had been a moment ago – and there’s something lingering behind them that you can’t quite place. Whatever it is has you feeling weak.
“You barely know me,” you joke.
“Yeah,” he agrees. “I know enough, though. Could do much better than him, I reckon.”
You want to ask him if he has anyone in mind, if he would be better for you, but you can’t – not yet – not this sober. You take another sip of your drink, breathing through your nose as it burns its way down your throat.
You talk for hours. He asks about your family; you tell him how you moved out here two years ago on your own after you finished your doctorate program. He’s impressed by that, says you’re brave. You tell him you’ve never felt very brave.
It’s all so easy, talking to Joel in the dimly-lit bar you’ve been to so many times before. Sipping on whiskey as if you actually enjoy it. It’s never felt so much like home — not the bar, not this town. The thought is dizzying.
He asks about Sarah, too, how she’s doing in school. He insists that she doesn’t tell him much, and if she does, it’s about you and how great your classes are.
“I had never even heard of anthropology before she decided to study it,” he admits. “But I’m glad she did. It’s her thing, f’sure.”
You smile, knowingly. “Yeah, it is. She’s a great kid, Joel. You raised her well.”
He shakes his head humbly, but you don’t relent. You want him to hear this, really hear this. Because you get the feeling he hasn’t been told enough.
“She’s not just smart, Joel. She’s good. She’s a good person. That’s kind of rare nowadays — especially among her generation.”
Joel chuckles, his head hanging between his shoulders.
“I mean, shit,” you continue, “she brings me pancakes from the diner just off campus whenever she knows I’m stuck in my office working late. My other students barely even ask how I’m doing most days.”
Joel hums in amusement. His eyes are locked on a wrinkle in the leather of the arm of his chair.
“Joel,” you say, pointedly. You wait for him to look at you. When he does, his gaze is uncertain. “She’s a good person —“ you repeat — “and that’s because you raised her to be.”
“‘ts just southern hospitality, is all,” he mumbles.
“No Joel – it’s you.”
He stares for a moment, his dark eyes narrowing. His jaw twitches. And then he breaks, finally, a smile pulling at his lips.
“Thank you.”
His voice is so soft suddenly. It throws you off. It also turns you on – like, a lot, the gravellyness of it scratching your brain and your loins. You dig your nails into leather in an attempt to steady your quickening heart rate.
“No problem,” you mutter sheepishly.
Suddenly, there’s a buzz on the table – Joel’s phone. He picks it up, squinting at the bright screen.
“Sarah?,” you ask.
“Nah, ‘ts just my brother, Tommy.”
He types out a quick response and re-locks the phone, placing it back down on the table.
“Everything alright?”
“Yeah, jus’ asking if I think hookin’ up with a client is a bad idea,” he laughs, shaking his head in disbelief.
You don’t know Tommy, but you like him already – seems like a fun guy. And clearly values his brother’s opinions. It’s telling, you think.
“That’s right – you’re a contractor. You and your brother work together?”
“Yeah, we got our own business back home.”
“And you like it?,” you ask.
“Used to,” he laughs, “when I was more limber.”
You laugh too. You can feel the heat of slight intoxication, and something else, in your chest, your inhibitions dissolving in your bloodstream. And suddenly that horrible idea you’d had earlier to flirt with Joel doesn’t seem so bad anymore.
“Still look plenty limber to me, Mr. Miller.” The words leave you before you have the chance to stop them.
Joel’s hands tense on either arm of his chair. Despite your buzz, you still have half a mind to worry that you’ve fucked up, that there’s a chance you’ve misread this whole thing.
But then he sinks back in the chair, the leather groaning under him. He rakes his dark eyes over you. And the way he’s looking at you is unmistakable. He looks hungry. You feel like your entire body has been set ablaze.
Without thinking, you stand up, take a couple of steps toward him. Scan the lounge. Most of the remaining patrons are huddled by the bar, talking boisterously among themselves. Tucked in your little corner, the two of you might as well be in a different zip code.
“Whatcha doin’, darlin’?” Joel smirks up at you as you stand unmoving in front of him. He takes one of your hands in his and traces gentle, reassuring shapes along the back of it with his index finger.
Without a word, you hike your dress up to your thighs and straddle him, knees digging into the leather on either side of his legs. He hums approvingly as you sink onto his lap and cup his face in your hands. He places his own on your lower back, just above your ass. “This okay?,” you ask. It comes out breathy and wrecked.
“C’mere,” he says in that syrupy drawl, and then one of his hands is on the back of your head, pushing you gently against him, your lips slotting to his.
It’s messy and all-encompassing. He kisses you with a fervency that confirms this hasn’t all been in your head –that he’s been wanting this too.
The voices of bar-goers and the clinking of glassware are suddenly muted. All you can focus on is Joel — the way he tastes like whiskey and cinnamon gum, the way one of his large hands comes to rest at the nape of your neck, fingers tangled in the hair there while the other remains on your back, steadying you. The way he licks into your mouth after a few seconds with a groan, causing you to reflexively bare down on his lap.
You feel his cock swell underneath you and you grind against it, laughing low and quiet against his lips when his entire body tenses. He pulls back, blinking up at you with glazed-over eyes. Joel, all six feet of him, looks wrecked.
“Fuck, darlin’,” he pants. He looks down at where you’re hovering over his now fully-hard cock. “Gotta stop. Otherwise you’re gonna make me cum in my pants like a damn teenager.”
You pout at him, lifting your lower half off of his. You don’t stand up, though – not immediately, anyway. Instead, you take his head back in both of your hands. He lets you, blinking up at you wordlessly.
You’d known when you’d first seen him earlier today that he was handsome, but right now, his face so close to yours – you’re seeing all of the little details – the scar indented in his forehead, just above his right eyebrow; the flush that stains his cheeks, which you can guess is partly from the alcohol, but maybe also from you. He’s biblically gorgeous, which makes it difficult to pry yourself off of him.
You do though, after a minute, smoothing down your dress once you’re back on two feet. You feel a bit breathless, suddenly. And exhausted.
What time is it?
You retrieve your phone from where it’s been lodged in the cushion of your chair.
You tap on the screen, waking it up.
12:47?! When had it gotten so late?
Joel stands, adjusting himself in his pants. You can’t help but giggle at him — big, tough man looking positively ruined after just a few minutes of being under you. You feel pretty accomplished. He rolls his eyes at you.
“Shut up — just get us an Uber.” You don’t miss the smile that sprouts between his cheeks when he thinks you aren’t looking.
You wait outside for your driver — John M.
The cold Vermont air is sobering. You feel almost normal by the time the car pulls up, save for the dull, throbbing ache between your legs. You will it away as you crouch into the back of the silver Nissan behind Joel. The sound of the radio playing soft rock hits is a poor distraction on the drive home.
“Wanna come in?,” you ask Joel when the car comes to a halt in front of your building. You watch him ponder it, eyes glued to the roof of the sedan. But ultimately, he shakes his head. “Can’t,” he says. “Gotta check on Sarah.”
You nod, try to hide your disappointment. “Right.”
You open the door. Just as you’re about to get out, Joel stops you.
“Wait,” he says. “Can I see your phone?” You’re confused, but you hand it over. You watch as he pulls up your contacts and clicks the ‘plus’ button in the corner, an understanding smile pulling at your lips.
When he hands the phone back, his contact now in it, you grab his from off the seat next to him and do the same.
“I’ll text you,” he promises as you step out.
You turn back to him. “You better.”
He’s smiling when you shut the door.
You’re smiling when the car pulls away.
It’s only when you’re tucked into bed, phone charging securely on the nightstand that the thought crosses your mind: you’re catching feelings for someone again.
And then you feel sick.
Tumblr media
Joel wakes up the next morning feeling giddy. It’s like he’s a teenager all over again – waiting by the phone for a pretty girl to call him back. Only this time, he’s waiting for a text.
He had messaged you almost as soon as he’d gotten back to Sarah’s apartment last night, asking if he could see you again before he goes back to Texas. He has no shame about it, he can’t – not when his entire mind and body are consumed by his overwhelming attraction to you.
He’d found it difficult to sleep last night, and not because the springs in Sarah’s cheap couch were digging into his already-damaged back. It was thoughts of you, and the borderline-painful erection they caused, that had kept him up.
Now, with the sun seeping through the living room windows directly into his eyes, he doesn’t have much of a choice but to be awake. He checks his phone immediately, and tries to ignore the way his heart sinks when he sees you haven’t responded yet. You’re probably still asleep, he tells himself.
He tosses his phone aimlessly back onto the couch and stands with a groan. His legs feel worse than his back, if that’s even possible.
Sarah still isn’t awake, so Joel meanders into her kitchen, in search of something to eat for breakfast. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a college student’s kitchen – bare bones. There are a few suspicious containers of leftovers in the fridge along with a Brita water pitcher and a package of cookie dough. In the freezer, several cartons of ice cream (all chocolate) and half a loaf of bread. And finally, in the cabinets, a few boxes of mac & cheese and an unopened jar of peanut butter.
Toast it is, then.
Sarah appears just as he’s raiding her drawers for a butter knife. “Morning,” she announces sleepily behind him.
“Hey, Kiddo,” he says, turning to face her. “Hungry?”
“Yeah. There’s a diner down the street. Thought we could get pancakes.” She yawns.
Joel grins. That must be the place you’d told him about – the one Sarah brings you leftovers from when you’re working late.
“You buyin’?,” he jokes.
“Only in exchange for the juicy deets from last night.” She pauses. “Okay, maybe not all the deets. There’s some things I don’t need to know – like why you got home so late.”
“Sarah,” Joel warns, but she’s undeterred, smiling like a Cheshire Cat with every one of her unbrushed teeth on display.
“Just get changed,” she says, and skips out of the room.

You’ve been staring at the text for twenty minutes now.
Had a lot of fun tonight. Can I see you again before I leave? Let me know if you’re free tomorrow (today I guess). - Joel
You should say yes – you want to say yes – so why can’t you get your fingers to move?
It’s a stupid question. You know why – it’s Quentin and your inability to shake the fear that someone  else will hurt you like he did. If you keep Joel at arm’s length – continue to ignore his message – he can’t do that. You can just take last night for what it was – a fun time, a hookup – and stop this before it goes too far, before feelings get involved.
Because it never ends well, once they do.
You get out of bed without responding, but you leave the text open on your phone. You attempt to busy yourself with housework and grading. Again and again though, you find your fingers hovering over the screen, your mind wandering to the way Joel’s lips had felt on yours, the way the bulge in his jeans had felt against your clothed heat, the sound of his southern drawl when he’d called you darlin’.
Then you snap yourself out of it and place the phone face-down on the table.
This goes on for hours, a vicious cycle. You feel your resolve slipping more and more each time you pick the phone up.
The sun is high in the sky by the time you break, light bathing your kitchen and revealing all of the spots you’d missed when you’d dusted earlier. Your phone is heavy in the palm of your hand like a bomb – like if you don’t hit send right now, you’ll lose the motivation and it’ll detonate, taking any chance of you seeing Joel tonight and not self-sabotaging with it.
You close your eyes when you press the button and toss your phone somewhere across the room.
Well – you think – no going back now.
Tumblr media
Joel is sitting on cold, hard bleachers at the Homecoming football game when he sees you’ve responded, the shouts of people in the stands around him not enough to avert his attention.
Hey, yeah, that would be great! Do you want to come to my apartment later? I have a bottle of wine we can crack into if you’d like. And I can order pizza.
The announcer is saying something about player #72 over the loudspeaker. He doesn’t tune in.
Joel types his reply and sends it:
Sounds perfect. I’ll come over around 7?
Sarah groans next to him. “You wanted to come to this game, dad. If you’re bored already, can we leave?”
His eyes shoot up. “No, uh – sorry. Just had to answer one text.”
Sarah narrows her eyes at him. They dart to the phone just as another message rolls in, your name flashing across the screen before Joel can hide it.
“Is that my professor?”
Joel doesn’t answer. His silence confirms enough.
“I knew you guys hit it off last night! See, dad, even though you didn’t wanna tell me at breakfast, I still found out. I always find out. Because Sarah knows all.” She attempts a maniacal, Disney villain-esque laugh.
Joel raises an eyebrow at her.
“You done?”
“So you going out again later? Do I need to make your bed on the couch, or should I just not bother?”
He ignores her. Someone gets a touchdown and half the crowd goes wild. He doesn’t bother to check what team scored.
He opens your latest message, instead.
Perfect. See you then, Cowboy ;)
His breath hitches at the nickname, at the thought of you calling him that again in person. The thought of kissing you again, if you’ll let him.
He doesn’t catch who wins the game.
Tumblr media
Joel arrives at your apartment at seven o’clock on the dot.
Punctual, you note.
He’s holding a bottle of wine, gripping the neck with long, calloused fingers.
“Know you said you had some already,” he says as he steps over the threshold. “Just didn’t wanna come empty handed.”
The sentiment takes you aback. You’re not exactly used to dates bringing you gifts, especially ones this expensive, if the minimalist yet fancy label is any indicator.
“Thanks,” you say awkwardly, taking the bottle from him. You can’t quite make out the name – something foreign, etched in cursive.
“‘ts Italian, I think,” he mumbles, as if he can read your mind.
Your eyes shift from the bottle to Joel, standing in front of you in his Carhartt jacket, brows furrowed, gaze trained on the floor at his feet.
“Thank you,” you say more genuinely this time.
Joel smiles appreciatively. You motion to the space behind you.
“Come in.”
You lead Joel to the kitchen, just off the entranceway, and place the bottle down on the counter, gently. You tuck yourself in the corner, leaning back to rest your arms on cool granite. Joel mirrors you against the adjacent island.
“How’s Sarah?” you ask. “Feeling any better?”
“Uh, yeah,” he says, rubbing at his scruff. “She was askin’ about you. Saw me textin’ you.”
“Yeah – guess you couldn’t exactly hide this from her, staying at her apartment and all.”
“Yeah,” he laughs. “Guess not.”
You pop open the bottle of wine. Pour glasses for both of you. Then you order pizza: one cheese, one sausage and pepper. The person on the other end of the line tells you it’ll be thirty to forty minutes.
“Gonna be a bit of a wait,” you tell Joel when you hang up. “Busy night, I guess.”
He nods, takes a sip of wine, and then places the glass down, his eyes unmoving from yours.
You realize then that he’d been staring at you the entire time you were on the phone. The way he’s looking at you – gaze the same as the one from the bar last night when you’d straddled him – has you feeling suddenly nervous.
“What?” you ask, your voice barely above a whisper.
“Can I kiss you again?” he asks.
Oh.
You breathe out a laugh. It’s not funny – really, the opposite – but you hadn’t been expecting him to ask that. “Joel-” you’re going to say yes – fuck yes – but he interrupts you.
“Been dyin’ to since last night.” He’s so open, so earnest. It’s fucking hot.
“Joel,” you say again, louder this time. He freezes. His eyes widen, like he’s anticipating your answer.
“Please.”
It’s all he needs to hear. In an instant, he crosses the distance between you. He places his hands on the counter behind you, framing your body with his. You peer up at him and, fuck – he looks ravenous.
He kisses you – hard. His teeth crash against yours. It’s messy and hurried, but you don’t care – you want him closer, need him closer.
Your head swims with memories of the feeling of his bulge against your clothed core. The need to feel it again is all-consuming. You’re greedy for it. And with the time constraint, you don’t want to wait another second.
You pull back abruptly. Joel furrows his eyebrows where he looms over you, concerned.
“Joel,” you pant,  “I need you.”
It takes him a second to compute what you’re asking. And then he’s nodding furiously.
“Fuck,” he whispers. “Okay, darlin’.”
You pull him back in with a hand at the back of his neck, digging your nails into the skin there. His tongue slips into your mouth with a groan. You’re minutely aware of him shrugging his jacket off, hearing the light thump it makes when it hits the linoleum. And then his hands are on you, wandering up and down your body like he needs to feel every inch of you. He tugs at the base of your t-shirt impatiently.
“Off,” he mumbles against your lips. You pull back only to do as he’s asked, and then you’re right back on him, sucking a bruise into the skin below his ear, your body claiming him subconsciously. His head falls back momentarily, revealing his bobbing throat. You scrape your teeth lightly along the skin there, eliciting a groan from Joel.
Your mouth continues exploring his neck as his fingers find the clasps of your bra, unhooking them quickly and tossing it aside. You don’t see where. You don’t really care – you’ll find it later.
He grabs your now-naked sides and steps back, pulling you with him. Then he turns you and pushes you back against the island.
He slaps the countertop behind you. “Up,” he breathes against your neck. You don’t argue. You don’t want to argue. You’re so used to being the one in charge, the one in control — right now you’re happy to bend to Joel’s will.
You grip the edge of the island with both hands and hoist yourself up so that you’re perched there, legs dangling.
Joel’s fingers immediately go to the button of your jeans, popping it open before moving to tug the zipper down. And then he’s helping you lift your hips so that he can pull them down and off. He adds them to the pile at his feet.
You’re left in nothing but your underwear splayed out on your kitchen counter in front of him. You feel like you should be self conscious, maybe even embarrassed by your depravity. But you can’t find it in you to be either, not when Joel is slotted between your legs, his dark eyes scanning over you hungrily. Showing you he needs you just as bad as you need him.
He rubs his hands over your thighs and up the sides of your body, mapping your curves with great concentration. “God damn,” he whispers, what seems to be, mostly to himself. “Fuckin’ gorgeous.”
You whine pathetically. Your patience is growing thin.
He smirks up at you, likely seeing in your face how desperate you are for him right now.
“‘ts okay baby, I got you,” he coos, suddenly sinking to his knees in front of you. His hands move closer to your clothed pussy, but not quite there, tracing light circles along your inner thighs. Then he replaces his fingers with his mouth, sending your hips bucking off the counter, chasing him.
The coarse hair of his mustache scratches the skin surrounding where he sucks and bites. You don’t care. You just want to feel it lower, against your dripping folds.
“Please,” you breathe, shakily. Through hooded eyes, you catch Joel’s satisfied grin. You realize then that he loves this — making you beg for it, for him. It’s a dizzying contradiction to the way he was practically begging to kiss you just moments ago.
He presses a chaste kiss against your skin, his lips infuriatingly close to where you need them most.
“Whatcha need, darlin’?” he purrs. The vibration of his voice just next to your core has you spiraling.
“Need your mouth,” you cry. “Please.”
“Where?” He nips at you, half an inch closer to your swollen clit. You can feel his breath. Your cunt reactively clenches around nothing.
“On my pussy, Joel” you plead.
He pulls away from you completely, looks up at you with devilish eyes.
“Good girl.”
He dips one finger into the side of your underwear, pulling them aside to reveal your glistening core. “Damn baby, you’re soaked,” he drawls. You catch the hint of pride that tinges his voice.
“Please,” you beg again, your voice wanton and broken.
Joel gently pets your throbbing clit with the pad of his thumb. The pressure he applies is feather-light, barely there. But still, after all the teasing, you can’t help the embarrassingly loud moan that escapes you.
He chuckles darkly. “Alright sweetheart, I know – enough teasin’.”
He hooks both index fingers in the top of your panties, pulling them down and off in one swift movement. And then his tongue is on you, exactly where you need it.
He holds you open with fingers digging deliciously into the meat of your thighs as he licks long, languid stripes from your leaking cunt up to your clit, over and over again until you’re a whimpering mess underneath him. You struggle to hold your weight up on your elbows, watching him as he works you with his mouth.
He’s so good at this – too good at this. You tell him as much, between broken moans.
“Sofuckinggood Joel – holy shit.”
You swear you can feel him smirk against your heat.
He buries his face into your cunt then, nose pressed against your clit, and swivels his head back and forth, coating his mustache and beard in your arousal. He groans against you, like this is getting him off just as much as you. It’s all so obscene, so filthy.
You’ve never had a man go down on you like this – like they actually enjoy it. But then again, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, not when it’s Joel. You’ve quickly come to learn that he’s attentive in every sense of the word. Knows just what you want, what you need – evident by the way his lips latch back onto your clit when you keen for him.
He keeps his attention there, switching between suckling on it – which is enough to make you see stars on its own – and lapping at it with short, shallow flicks of his tongue. He experiments with different angles, licking at different spots on the bundle of nerves until he finds the one that makes you cry out, your babbles of there Joel, yes, right fucking there, don’t stop, letting him know exactly where to focus.
You feel yourself quickly hurtling toward the edge. You just need a little bit more to get you there.
“Fingers,” you pant. “Need your fingers in me.”
Two of his fingers are at your entrance before you can even blink. You’re so wet that he slides them in easily, curling them against your walls. He expertly finds your G-spot, massaging it as his tongue continues to lap at your clit.
You gasp at the combination. It’s so good – so much.  “Oh my god Joel, I’m so close,” you cry.
He doesn’t let up, doesn’t even look at you. His eyes are closed in concentration, fingers and tongue unrelenting. He’s lost in your pussy. You can tell he’s not going to come up for air until he’s given you an orgasm.
And it doesn’t take much longer – one, two, three more strokes of his fingers and you’re cumming hard.
Your vision blurs and your ears ring in your head. You’re vaguely aware that Joel is pinning one of your thighs down with his free hand to hold you in place as you thrash against the countertop.
He fucks you through it, your pussy clenching around his fingers as he continues to curl them against that spot, your clit throbbing against his tongue.
It is – without a doubt – the most intense orgasm you’ve ever had.
He doesn’t stop when you’ve come down, eager to milk every last drop from your weeping cunt. The overstimulation is too much. Your grip tightens in his hair, weakly attempting to pull him off of you as you whimper nonsense above him. You manage to exhale his name, or something close to it, and he finally lifts his face.
His eyes meet yours, dark and hooded. He looks absolutely pussydrunk.
The entire lower half of his face is soaked with your slick. His shiny, pink lips pepper kisses along your inner thighs, smoothing over the spots he’d marked with his teeth just minutes ago. You feel so sensitive – you shiver under his touch.
His smile curves into your skin. He leaves one last light peck and stands up, grunting at the ache in his knees. You laugh, but you can tell by the darkness still looming in his gaze that he’s not done with you yet.
He helps you off the counter, steadying you with hands gripping your sides as you find your footing. Your legs feel like Jell-O, a welcomed side-effect of the earth-shattering orgasm you’ve just had. You lead Joel to your bedroom, leaving your clothes scattered across the kitchen floor.
He backs you toward the bed as soon as you’re in your room, lips latched to the side of your neck. The backs of your legs hit the mattress, and then he’s lowering both of your bodies onto it, cradling your head in his hand as you settle underneath him.
He sits back on his knees, pulling his t-shirt over his head to reveal his broad, tan torso. You’re pretty sure you’re salivating, lost in the slope of his shoulders and the wide expanse of his chest. Your eyes trail lower as he undoes his belt, followed by the button of his jeans. He shimmies them off along with his boxers, his large cock springing free, tip shiny with pre-cum, and hovers back over your eager body.
He dips down and presses his lips to yours, prying your mouth open with his tongue. He’s remarkably patient for how hard he is, his erection pressing into your thigh as he kisses you, slow and wet.
One of his hands grips your jaw, the other pressed firmly against the mattress next to you. Minutes pass like that, you and Joel losing yourselves in each other. Then you remember that you don’t have all the time in the world – that your delivery driver could get here any minute. In truth, you’re not even fucking hungry anymore – not for pizza, anyway.
You snake your hand up to the back of Joel’s head, pulling at his roots lightly. “Joel,” you breathe when he lifts off of you, “please fuck me.”
He doesn’t have to be asked twice.
“How do you want it, baby?” he purrs in your ear, his warm breath skating over your skin. “How do you like it?”
You breathe out a moan. No man has ever asked you how you like it. They usually just give you a few sloppy, ill-timed thrusts, whatever they can muster before cumming and leaving you unsatisfied.
But Joel isn’t just any man.
“Hard,” you whine. “Need you to fuck me hard.”
He growls, low and dark. “‘ts right, sweetheart.”
He lines himself up with your entrance, rutting against your folds a few times to gather some of your wetness with the tip of his cock.
Then he sinks into you, slowly, stretching your walls as he notches further and further in. There’s a sweet, stinging pain, one you hope, fleetingly, that you’ll be able to feel tomorrow – like a keepsake from him.
You sigh when he reaches the hilt, his tip nudging your cervix. He stills, letting you get used to his girth and you have to dig your nails into his back to keep from writhing under him. You don’t mind if it hurts – you just need him to move.
“Please,” you whine, unable to stop your hips from bucking any longer. “I can take it, Joel.”
“Know you can, baby,” he coos, beginning to rock slowly inside of you. The pleasure is immediate, washing over your body like a warm wave.
He picks up the pace when he’s sure it feels good for you, dragging his cock halfway out of you and thrusting back in, over and over again.
He grabs both of your legs, bending them so that you’re spread wide open for him, and grips the backs of your knees tightly as he slams into you. He can get so much deeper like this, his cock hitting a spot you didn’t even know you had. You let out a labored moan, fingers anchored into his delts.
“Talk to me darlin — tell me how it feels,” he pants.
“So – fuck, Joel – so fucking good.”
Joel drops his mouth to your shoulder, nips at the skin there.
His voice is in your ear, a low snarl.
“‘Better than that fuckin ex, I bet.”
You’d be annoyed by his cockiness – if he wasn’t so right.
But he is, and so you parrot, “So much better.” And then, because it’s the truth, you add, “the best.”
“Fuck,” he breathes, his hips stuttering at your words. “Can’t say that angel, you’ll make me cum.”
He pulls out and slams back into you again, setting a new, devastating pace. He fills you up just to leave you empty, over and over again. You’re a babbling mess underneath him, couldn’t string two more words together if you tried. Luckily, Joel is happy to take over and do the talking.
“So fuckin’ pretty, babygirl. Make the most gorgeous noises, too.”
You’re so fucking close, you can only whimper in response. You feel your walls tighten around him.
He presses your foreheads together, his sweaty curls sticking to your skin. His eyes bore into yours.
“C’mon baby, show me – show me how pretty ya are when ya cum on this cock.”
He brings one hand down to your clit, rubbing sloppy circles over it as he continues spearing into you. You hike your newly-freed leg up over his lower back.  A white heat licks at your spine. You barely have time to tell Joel you’re about to cum, your warning coming out a single cry of his name. He gets it, though, bringing you over the edge with his words.
“I got you, baby, I got you; you can let go.”
Your orgasm barrels through you, from the tips of your toes all the way up to your ears. Joel doesn’t let up his ministrations, talking you through it as you writhe under him.
“Thaaaats it. Good – ahh – good fuckin’ girl.”
The only word you can think of in your state of euphoria is his name, chants of Joel, Joel, Joel spilling from the back of your throat as you cum.
You’re squeezing his cock through your aftershocks, and you can tell he’s close by the way his thrusts become more and more uneven.
“Fuck – where do you want it?” he braces both palms against the mattress on either side of you.
“Inside – please, Joel,” you beg. “I’m on the pill.”
He curses in ecstasy,  cumming seconds later with a series of low grunts. His hips stall as he spills inside of you. There’s so much of it – he’s nearly drowning your cervix, coating your walls with rope after rope of his spend.
He softens inside you, staying there for a long moment as you both come down from your highs. You’re sweaty, panting messes, and you can’t help but giggle at how spent you both sound.
“Good?” he asks, nosing at the space just below your jaw. It’s so soft, so gentle. Your stomach does a backflip.
“Yeah,” you say. “Really fucking good.”
He pulls out of you with a low, guttural noise. You sigh at the loss of him, your hand coming down reflexively  to feel where he’s leaking out of you. His fingers graze yours, and he bumps them aside to scoop up some of your combined fluids.
He brings his wet, sticky fingers to your lips, humming when you immediately take them into your mouth and suck them clean, eyes unmoving from his the entire time. You bat your eyelashes at him, innocently as he pulls them out with a wet pop.
“Fuck,” he curses, “gonna get me hard again, angel.”
He lays down next to you, letting his head thump against the pillow, and flexes his biceps behind his head. You kind of hope he does get hard again, despite the fact that your whole body feels like liquid. Like if you were to try and stand, your legs would most definitely give out on you. They’re trembling right now, where you have them half-bent, heels dug into the mattress.
Your phone rings, then, snapping you out of your post-coital bliss. Fuck – the pizza.
You answer, trying your best to hide the undeniably fucked-out lilt of your voice as you tell the delivery person that someone will be right down.
Joel laughs next to you when you hang up. “I’ll get it – hold on.”
He jumps out of bed and dresses quickly. You’re gawking at him as he does. You can’t help it. This man – probably the hottest man you’ve ever seen – was just inside of you. You want to pat yourself on the back. He notices you staring as he’s zipping up his jeans and shoots you a wink.
Joel deadbolts your front door and disappears into the hallway. He returns moments later, shutting and re-locking the door, and strides back into your bedroom with both boxes. You can see the steam coming off of them through the cardboard.
He sets them down by your feet.
“In bed?” you ask, sitting up against the headboard.
“Well I’m not sure you can walk to the kitchen, darlin’.”
Your face heats. He has a point. But he doesn’t have to be so smug about it. You roll your eyes at him and mumble something nonsensical under your breath as you tuck yourself in under your duvet.
“What was that?” He quirks an eyebrow.
Long gone is the shy Joel from earlier this evening. He knows your body now, knows how hard he makes you cum. He’s a whole different man post-coitus – bolder. It makes you damn near melt.
And maybe you’re different now too. Because you’re pretty sure you’d give up your vow of solitude for him, if he asked.
It’s crazy, probably. You’ve only known Joel for two days, after all. But you can’t help the way that he ( and his dick) makes you feel. Like maybe there’s a promise of something down the line, however serious that something may be. You just know you want to give yourself the opportunity to experience it, no matter how it ends.
“Nothing.” You break, grin pulling tight at the corners of your mouth. “Just get me a slice of cheese.”
He lets his gaze linger for a second longer, the faux-threat of it heating you from the inside out. And then he’s vanishing into the kitchen, returning with two plates and a stack of paper towels.
He dishes up slices for the both of you, climbing into bed next to you and handing over yours.
He settles in with a content sigh.
You both eat in happy silence for a few minutes, Joel giving you a satisfied nod when he finishes up his first slice. “‘ts good,” he mumbles through a mouthful of food.
“Right?” you retort. “It’s my favorite pizza around here.”
He hums in agreement. Pulls the box of sausage and pepper onto his lap to grab another slice.
“So,” you start, “you’re heading home tomorrow?” It’s more of a statement than a question. You know he is. But still, part of you wants Joel to say no, tell you that he’s canceled his flight, that he’s decided to stick around for a bit longer.
“Yeah,” he says. You feel your heart sink. You silently curse yourself for being delusional.
“Are you excited?” you try. “To be home?”
He doesn’t respond right away – his forehead wrinkling and his lips falling into a small frown. You watch as he thinks on it.
“Not really,” he admits after a few seconds.
“I know you’ll miss Sarah,” you say, letting your head fall onto his shoulder.
He peers down at you with a heavy sigh. “So much…” His voice trails off, like there’s something else he wants to add, but can’t.
The air feels thick, suddenly – heavy. You try your best to lighten it.
“Can’t stay a bit longer? Let Tommy run things for a while?”
“No,” he laughs. “Pretty sure he’ll just end up screwin’ every client we got.”
“And you’d end up screwing every one of Sarah’s professors,” you tease.
His mouth falls open in mock-offense. He grabs at both your sides, suddenly, letting the open box of pizza slide off of his lap and onto the bed. He tickles relentlessly just under your ribs, causing you to squeal and squirm under his grip.
“Joel,” you cry in between fits of laughter. “Stop!”
“I don’t think so, darlin’,” he tuts. He removes one of hands momentarily, to toss your plate aside, and then he’s hooking one of his legs over your body, straddling you. He looks so big like this, his body hanging over yours. You feel content – safe. His hands release you, finally, coming to settle on either side of your head on your pillow. You blink up at him. He’s staring down at you with narrowed eyes.
“What?”
“Nothin,” he mumbles. “‘ts just, I wouldn’t, ya know. Sleep with anyone else, I mean. If you didn’t want me to.”
Your breath catches in your throat. You know that if you respond, it’ll come out way too eager. So you just blink at him again.
“Would you want to keep talkin’ after I get home?”
Yes, you want to say. Please. I don’t think I could go on without knowing if I’ll get to see you again – fuck you again.
You swallow. Collect yourself.
“Yeah. I would.”
You shimmy under Joel so that you can sit up. He straightens out, shifting his weight onto his knees. Takes both of your hands in his and pulls you up.
His eyes are still locked on yours. “I know we just met this weekend,” he says. “But I had a lot’a fun with you. I like you.”
Your cheeks warm. “I like you too, Joel.”
He smiles. “‘m glad.”
“Doesn’t have to be anythin’ serious,” he continues. Lets his fingers trace aimlessly along the inside of your arm. “We can jus’ see where it goes.”
“Yeah,” you nod, your heart squeezing in your chest. “See where it goes. I like that.”
And it’s the truth. You do. In the stillness, your legs tucked under the covers, Joel caressing you, you feel, for the first time in a long time, happy to not be alone. And you know you will be again, very soon, when Joel leaves to go back home. But then again, you won’t – not really. His voice will be there, a phone call away, and his body will be there, in the divot he’s left in your mattress. And you’ll have the promise of taking this slow, seeing where it goes.
You’ve never been so excited for the future.

birthday boy - kim mingyu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: mingyu x reader
warnings: mentions of alcohol, fluff, kissing
wordcount: 1160
a/n: happy mingyu day <3
Tumblr media
"are you ready? we should leave babe", you yell out to mingyu who's still getting ready and you grab your phone from the table outside. you open your email to figure out the reservation details but you let out a gasp when you see the email headline that awaits you.
"what happened?", mingyu asks, coming out, hearing you and he walks towards you, a small etch of worry on his face. you only smile, trying to brush it off, not wanting to upset the atmosphere right now. but there was no point. the email you just read said that your reservation was cancelled and now you both had gotten dressed up to go...nowhere. you had booked that place two weeks in advance just for mingyu's birthday today and the fact that they cancelled it without any reason made you upset.
"what's wrong?", he prompts again, seeing the troubled look on your face.
"i-um", you start as you look at mingyu and sigh because there was really no point in denying it.
"the restaurant cancelled our reservation", you tell softly, feeling defeated. "i'm so sorry i should have planned this better, it's your special day and -",
"woah woah, sweetheart, look at me", he says making you meet his gaze. "it's okay we can do something else", he assures, giving you a small smile.
"but you were looking forward to this place", you add, frowning.
"how about we stay in? have some wine, cut the cake, just us?", he suggests. "are you sure? we can go somewhere else maybe, we're already dressed up", you add but he shakes his head. just then your doorbell rings and mingyu moves to open it but you stop him, putting your hand on his chest.
"i'll get it", you tell, shooeing mingyu away because it was a special delivery for him and you wanted to keep it that way. you had ordered flowers from mingyu, the bouquet was gorgeous, with fresh red roses with baby's breath in between all wrapped up in brown paper and a small note tucked inside. you smiled softly as you took the bouquet and peeked inside, hiding it behind your back as you saw mingyu putting out the cake and getting out the wine.
"gyu close your eyes", you told. "why?", he asks, playfully.
"just do it please", you add and he closes his eyes, a smile already playing on his lips. you make sure his eyes are indeed closed before you come forward and you bring the bouquet out front, holding it out for mingyu as you tell him to open his eyes.
he opens his eyes and he grins, his pretty canines showing and you smile too. "happy birthday gyu", you say as he takes the flowers from you like an excited puppy.
"for me?", he asks. "no they're for my boyfriend mingyu, give them back", you tell and he chuckles. "this is the first time someone's given me flowers", he confesses and you make a mental note to surprise mingyu with flowers more often.
he smells the flowers and his eyes find the note that's tucked inside and almost hidden in the flowers and his eyes sparkle. he picks out the note and you mentally cringe when you remember what you wrote. mingyu puts the bouquet aside, opens the note and he smiles like an idiot when he reads it. you know he's going to tease you about it, so you usher him to the cake that's waiting on the table, hoping he'll spare you.
you place the candles on the cake mingyu takes the initiative to light them and you find the princess crown you had found a few days back, thinking it would look cute on mingyu. "babeee", he draws out when he sees it, knowing exactly what you had in mind but you just chuckle as you put the crown on him and he lets you because he loves to indulge you like that.
you put your arms on your hips and admire mingyu. "you look so adorable", you say and he nods his head. "well, thank you for blessing me with princesshood on my birthday", he jokes and you smile, moving closer to mingyu when you notice the candles melting.
"make a wish gyu!", you tell and he sincerely closes his eyes, makes a wish and blows out the candles. his eyes are still closed so you take this chance to swipe some icing from the cake on his nose and cheek. he opens his eyes, his mouth opening in shock before he narrows his eyes at you and you run around the table because you know he's going to get you back.
he's quick to run after you and after a few strides from his long legs, he's caught you, wrapping his arm around your waist to pull you against his body as he corners you into the wall and you can only let out a soft giggle.
he leans forward and boops your nose with his and now you have icing on your nose too and he seems satisfed. "now we're even", he tells with a playful smile and you can only smile back up at him, your arms resting on his shoulders as his hands caress your waist.
"have i told you how gorgeous you look tonight", he says with a glint in his eyes and you smile, feeling your cheeks heat up at his compliment. he always made you feel like the prettiest person in the world and loved complimenting you, knowing you'd get shy about it. you clear your throat before speaking.
"have i told you how dashing and handsome you look tonight?", you tell, looking him up and down again because he was wearing that gorgeous all-black suit that he pulled off so well, making him look amazing (and hot). mingyu chuckles at your words and smiles wider, the sound of his laughter like music to your ears and he looks at you with pure adoration.
"is this the part where i finally get my birthday kiss?", he asks after a few seconds with a twinkle in his eyes.
"you're acting like i didn't kiss you today", you tell, tilting your head.
"but that was just a kiss, not a birthday kiss and you only kissed me once today which didn't even last five seconds". he explains, making you roll your eyes at his words and give him a look.
"i'm still waiting", he prompts, raising his brow with a tilt of his head, grinning that stupid smile that makes you melt every time you see it.
you lean forward and close the gap between you both, kissing mingyu and he pulls you closer against him as he softly moves his lips against yours, kissing you back.
"happy birthday", you whisper against his lips when you pull away.
"i'm really sorry about the reservation being cancelled though", you add because you did feel bad after having planned it and it fell through last minute.
"shhh, this is perfect too", he assures, kissing you again.

ODE TO A CONVERSATION (STUCK IN YOUR THROAT) - c.sc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything with Seungcheol has always been easy. Easier than with anyone else, anyway.  (and it hits me — i don’t want anybody else touching you like i do, like i do, like me. is it okay? that i don’t want anybody else touching you like i do.)
pairing; choi seungcheol x fem!reader.  genre; smut (MINORS DO NOT INTERACT) with a little bit of plot. friends-ish to lovers to (healthy) exes to fwb to -- warnings; writing early parts of this felt low-key pretentious but it was kinda on purpose because i was trying something stylistic and outside my normal?? so??? but on a real: swearing. alcohol consumption (they aren’t drunk at the time of having sex). reader is written to be wearing makeup. it's kinda just filth. proof read but all the words just melted together eventually (if i missed a typo, no i didn't <3) smut warnings under the cut! w/c; 6k. a/n; del water gap’s ode to a conversation stuck in your throat was my most listened to song last year. i now can’t listen to it without thinking about s.coups (i also just point blank can't stop thinking about s.coups) -- enjoy x
smut warnings: big! dick! seungcheol!, making out, fingering, oral (f rec), unprotected p-in-v sex (make good choices), lil bit of edging if u squint, overstimulation if u tilt ur head like 82º to the left, manhandling, soft-ish dom!cheol, lotta praise, use of pet names (babe, baby good girl, my girl, sweetheart), kinda possessive!cheol, jealous!cheol, biting and marking (hickeys, digging nails in), light light light light light crying/dacryphilia (not really, like there are Some tears in eyes but just to be safe ig)

Everything with Seungcheol has always been easy.
Easier than with anyone else, anyway.
You’d known him in passing for a long time before anything happened. A friend of a friend — someone you always smiled at and chatted with at social events, because he was easy to smile at, and so very easy to chat to. You can’t even remember which birthday or New Year’s party or Halloween bash or Saturday night jamboree was the first: they’ve since all just dissolved into one pleasantly foggy memory, and every time you saw him thereafter he made you feel so comfortable, so at home that it felt like the hundredth.
And it continued that way for a few years. Pleasantries exchanged in friends' kitchens, conversations across beer-garden tables. Catching up on each other's lives in a hallway outside the bathroom for handfuls of minutes at a time before one of you inevitably got tugged away by the friend you were waiting for. You were comfortable with him, around him: he just had that kind of energy. So on a big group night out one evening, when you found yourself feeling a little uncomfortable being flirted with by someone you had never met, you instinctively flashed Seungcheol a look from across the bar. He came straight over and immediately to your rescue; with him slipping all too naturally into the fake role of your unimpressed significant other, you realised that it was easy to be whisked away under his arm, easy to let him buy you your next drink, easy to let him kiss you breathless just to really drive the pretend point home.
Staring up at him after, feeling his drink-chilled hands cupping your cheeks, watching his gaze flicker between your lips and your eyes, you realised that igniting a spark had never felt so…
And it was easy to kiss him again later that night under the influence of a little too much wine and blanketed by a couple of lowered inhibitions. It was easy to giggle into the crook of his neck as he leaned against a stone wall, trailing his fingers up and down your arms, rambling about how he wanted to kiss you again and again and again and forever, maybe, because he thought your smile was beautiful and your lips were so soft and you tasted like cherries, and he liked cherries, and if you could kiss him every day he’d never have a reason to be unhappy ever again. It was so fucking easy to fumble in your purse for your phone, to let him put in his number, and when he asked you if he could take you out for dinner, when he messily typed a text message out begging the same question and sent it to you (‘so we both remember, tomorrow’), it was so, so easy to say yes.
Then, the first date? It was beyond easy. You talked and talked and laughed and laughed, each of you having a few cocktails with your food, never running short of conversation, never not finding little ways to touch each other both under and over the table. Arranging the second, and then the third, and inviting him up for a coffee after date number five was easy, and falling into bed with him was easy. Holding him close, your sweat-slicked bodies moving as one entity in the dark: it was easy, and the pillow-talk after about what this growing thing between you was, came so damn…
So you introduced him to your parents, and your other friends, and in turn he did the same with you. Two and a half years breezed by, then, and even the hard parts… Even the arguing and time spent away from one-another, whether he was sleeping out on your couch following an emotionally charged spat or trips taken as part of his job demanded he spend weeks at a time without you. The hard parts? By comparison to everyone before him, they were easy. Anniversaries and birthdays and Valentine’s days: he spoiled you, and you doted on him, and being together was just so–…
Even the day you decided to end your romantic pursuit, while impassioned, wasn’t hard. In part, maybe it was because it was a long time coming: you still loved each other deeply but your lives were so chaotic and different, and it wasn’t fair to keep waiting around for each other when it just clearly wasn’t your time. And in part, because he was so calm in how he held your hand tightly in his (even when he dried your tears), how he kissed your forehead, in how he told you that you deserved more than the life he could give you. And at the end of it all, when he promised to always be there for you, naturally you promised the same back.
Keeping that promise? Well. It was easy.
So what if it took a few weeks for things to feel sort of normal? If you had to remember how to greet him without offering your lips for a kiss or your arms for a hug? If you had to get used to sleeping alone, and waking up alone, all over again? The thing that mattered was that he was still in your life, and you were still in his: your relationship wasn’t broken, it was just different, and once the little transition period was over, once you were both used to your new normal… Being ‘just friends’ was kind of easy.
(Kind of, being the operative phrase.)
Six months post split, you mentioned to him in passing that you were going on a date the following day. As soon as you realised what you’d said, you regretted bringing it up, but without missing a beat Seungcheol lowered his drink and raised an eyebrow at you, excitedly asking you to tell him everything. The person’s name, what they were like, how you met them, where you were going. He didn’t feel like your ex-boyfriend, then and there: he felt like a best friend. So you told him every detail, and he listened intently, following up by requesting you text him when you got to the date and again when you got home so he knew you were safe. Of course, you said that you would. First, because it was sensible. Second, his requests were easy enough.
And the date went okay, all things considered: the guy was nice, if a little bit awkward, and you had a good time bowling with him and playing some games in the old arcade, but there just wasn’t a spark. Everything felt difficult. Forced. So when he was the one to say to you after that he’d had a nice evening but felt that maybe you should just be friends, you couldn’t help but feel relieved. Letting out a breath and giving a genuine smile, you agreed, thanking him for his refreshing candour, before bidding him good night and making your way back to your car.
You held your phone between your fingertips for a while as the engine ran and the heating started to kick in, slowly warming you from the outside, in. As you thawed, you bit the inside of your cheek absentmindedly, a potentially questionable decision planting itself in your mind. Your body didn’t mind how good of an idea your brain thought it was, though. Your fingers moved entirely of their own accord; finding and pressing Seungcheol’s contact name was so starkly different to everything else had been, all damn night. It was easy. His sleep-roughened voice drifting down the phone sounded so easy. Asking if he minded you swinging by his place for a coffee and a debrief felt easy.
Two hours later, writhing on his mattress, two orgasms deep with his head still buried between your thighs and one of his hands groping at your tit as if his life depended on it?
Fucking. Easy.
So then, started the pattern. Waking up the next morning absolutely swimming in one of his oversized t-shirts should’ve felt like guilt and a betrayal of all your self-growth, of your moving on, of your friendship. It should’ve felt uncomfortable and gross and maybe a little panic-inducing, but it never did. It was warm and cosy, it was familiar and comforting, and when he greeted you ‘good morning’ with a pillow to the face, you knew that nothing was ruined; rather, this was just another new difference to your ever-changing relationship with him. Waking up this way… Well, it felt—
Look, you’re only human. You both have needs. After spending two and a half years learning each other's bodies, being together in that way again came so, so…
After every date gone wrong, after every stressful week at work, in the midst of every family drama and friendship breakdown, you found yourself seeking respite in his apartment, between his bedsheets. In his tongue lapping at your pussy; in the head of his cock bruising the back of your throat until he spilled his release into your mouth; in the slow, deep, precise thrusts of his hips as he buried himself inside you over and over and over and over, taking your mind off the stress and concentrating only on making you feel good, on helping you forget everyone and everything else–…
And now?
Well, now, you’re on your way back from yet another miserable date.
About three months ago, you stopped even considering giving the taxi drivers directions to your own place. Now, when you slide into the backseat, you automatically reel off the address you always end up at after a night like this. When your dates only talk about themselves, or say something so wildly out of pocket that it makes your toes curl (and not in a good way), or exclusively go on and on and on about their ‘crazy’ ex partner, you’ve grown all too used to showing up pouting at your friend’s front door.
What?
Being greeted by his knowing smirk and him inviting you inside is familiar; stepping across the threshold and kicking off your shoes in the hallway feels just so… easy.
Flopping down on the couch is easy, and waiting for Seungcheol to come back into the living room with two gleaming glasses and a bottle of wine is easy. Shuffling closer until you have your head resting against his shoulder is easy. Sipping at a chilled glass of rosé with his arm around you, the tip of his finger rubbing tiny circles against the point of your shoulder, eyes fluttering at this perfectly normal, totally platonic, absolutely-not-leading-anywhere-this-time contact is…
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asks a few seconds after you set your now half-empty glass down. Your lips curl a little into a grimace on one side and a soft laugh rumbles deep in his chest.
You swear you can feel it vibrate all the way down to your bones.
“What is there to even talk about?” you sigh. “He wouldn’t stop comparing me to his mother, strike one. Spent twenty minutes explaining the plot of my favourite movie back to me, strike two. And then, after all that, threw a tantrum when I swerved his kiss goodbye after he’d eaten basically a whole loaf of garlic bread. Strike three. You’re out.”
He laughs again, and you adjust your head to peer up at him but he isn’t looking at you. He’s staring off at the opposite wall, not even glancing down when his arm tightens to pull you even closer. On cue, you nuzzle your head down into the muscle beneath his t-shirt, and you sigh.
“What’s so funny?” you ask.
“Nothing,” he says breezily. “Just… You sure know how to pick ‘em.”
“I don’t deliberately go out with people one screw short of a toolbox, Cheol,” you grumble, lightly slapping his chest. “They always seem fine when we start talking.”
“Mhm,” he hums. You feel him move slightly and then his lips are being pressed to the part of your hair. You’re sure it’s supposed to be a little condescending, but it kind of tingles instead. But that’s just because of the way his breaths play over your roots. Isn’t it? “I know.”
“Trust me, I’d love nothing more than to find someone who—”
“Hey, I know, y/n,” he says again, still softly but just a little firmer this time. “It’s not your fault all these guys are dicks. But-…”
He trails off, tongue pressed lightly against his top teeth, and decides that maybe finishing this sentence isn’t the smart way to proceed. You wait a few seconds, just in case he changes his mind, and poke at his chest again when he doesn’t.
“But what?” You ask.
He shakes his head. “Nothing. It was a stupid joke. Don’t worry about it.”
“Tell me,” you whine. “You know I hate it when you do that.”
It’s his turn to sigh, now. “But…” he starts, pausing for a mixture of allowing his nerves to settle and for dramatic effect. “I’m not complaining: the worse your date goes, the better sex we have after.”
It momentarily stuns you into silence and you suck your teeth at the remark, shaking your head. But you don’t sit up, you don’t shove him away, you don’t argue the point he’s just made whether it was a joke or not. Because…
“I hate that you’re right.”
His hand slides down behind you until it’s wrapped around your waist, his bicep strong against your back and his fingers light as they fiddle with the fabric of your blouse.
“No you don’t,” he tells you, lips tweaking up on one side.
You sigh, burrowing closer into his chest. He’s wearing the cologne he knows you like most and it smells faint, worn, as if he’s had it on for hours, all despite being only dressed in basketball shorts and a white vest. His plans tonight started and ended with you, and showing up here wasn’t promised until you were on his doorstep. Something about knowing he wore it just in case triggers an all too familiar ache between your legs.
Giving in to it?
Ha.
It’s too fucking easy.
“Shut up,” you grumble. Your hand uncurls and your fingers splay over his chest, confessing your agreement and laying the foundations for you even if you deny what you want out loud. “Yes, I do.”
“Oh?” He asks at the exact moment you can feel his nails graze at your skin beneath your shirt. “Do you really?”
“Yeah.” You shift slightly, searching for just a crumb of relief from the press of your thighs, but it never comes.
“I see.” He flattens his palm against your side, the other hand tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, eyes not quite meeting yours as they fixate on the strands already sliding back to their former place against your cheek.
He gently clears his throat, tongue darting out over his lips for the most fleeting of moments, and when he speaks again, it’s lower, quieter, softer. “But if you hate it sooo much…” he ducks his head, close enough that his lips brush the corner of your mouth as he moves them. “Why are you here?”
He bumps the tip of his nose against your cheek, subtly turning your face so if you so much as shuffle, hiccup, breathe in too deeply, your smiles would meet. But they don’t. A hair’s breadth apart, you linger, eyes meeting his in a scorching challenge. One he doesn’t back down from. One he holds, and holds, and holds – waiting, for you, for his answer.
“Because,” you croak. Your throat feels dry, your eyelids suddenly heavy, lashes fluttering.
“Because?” he taunts, his chuckled exhale tickling the tiny hairs all over your skin.
You maintain his gaze still, and he chuckles, holding your chin between his thumb and forefinger. when you don’t speak for a few seconds more, he takes it upon himself to finish the sentence for you.
“Because you know,” he drawls, gravelly but still somehow heaven-sent and honey-sweet. “That no-one else does it for you the same way I do. Do they?”
You shake your head, the muscles in your neck tight as you wrestle with them not to surge forward and topple against him in a kiss. Seungcheol is an easily pleased man, but you know he loves a bit of a chase and it would be a little rude not to reward his hospitality by giving him one.
“Say it,” he urges. You’re acutely aware of how his breaths stop fanning against your face once the words are out of his mouth, but you don’t give him anything yet. “Come on. You could have any one of those idiots if you wanted them, but you don’t.” A pause. “Do you?”
You swallow hard, cheeks growing hot. You shake your head again, “No.”
“Because…”
And after one, two, three, four, five thundering beats of your heart—
“Because I want you.”
Seungcheol smirks as he pulls your chin up, finally bringing his plush lips down against your own. It’s soft. almost tender. Barely moving — just a press, but it sends waves of energy through you anyway.
“You’ve got me,” he says, pulling back an inch, studying your desperate eyes with his own. “Always gonna have me.”
And suddenly, it’s like his entire world might stop if he lets you go.
Both of his hands cup your cheeks as you shift up onto your knees, your own fingers grasping for dear life at his vest. He kisses you as if he could swallow you whole: hard and deep, breathing hot through his nose as his tongue works its way into your mouth and finds your own. You groan, and hearing the sound draws one out of him, too. There’s just something about kissing Seungcheol, and being kissed by him: you don’t even have to think. He just does. You just do. It’s easy.
His hands find the bottom of your shirt and he pulls upwards, separating from your lips to pull it over your head and toss it haphazardly towards the floor. He reconnects with you almost immediately, hands sliding down from your face to your exposed neck, to your shoulders, toying with the strap of your bra.
“You wear this for me, or him?” he asks, breathing heavily as he looks down at your covered tits, the red and white garment sitting pretty against your skin.
“Who d’you think?” you ask, equally fighting to gasp air into your lungs.
“Better not have been for fuckin’... Captain mommy issues,” he mutters, kissing you hard one more time before his lips attach to the side of your neck. “Never liked the sound of that guy. Thought you were too good for him.”
“S’that right?” You ask, tilting your head back and stuttering out a sigh, lacing it with wisps of a laugh. “You never said so.”
He sucks your skin into his mouth and you swear you can feel every capillary beneath the surface burst one by one, your body-heat climbing to almost unbearable territory. “You were excited,” he says. “Just ‘cause I don't agree with your choices, doesn’t mean I’m gonna be an ass about it.”
And for someone trying their best to cover your throat in as many bruises as possible (no doubt so that if you bump into the asshole from HR who took you out tonight when you’re back at work on Monday, he’ll see that you had a plenty good time without him), it… feels kind of sweet that he’d hold himself back in the name of your theoretical happiness.
“Too good to me,” you chuckle. You’ve long since released your hold on his vest and are now threading your fingers through his hair. He kisses and sucks down over your collarbone, grinning against your skin all the while.
“So?” he asks, tugging the top of your bra in between his teeth.
You glance down at him, biting your bottom lip at the sight. His pupils are blown-out, drowning his familiar warm, chocolatey eyes in black pools of desire. No lies, that’s always been your agreement. No lies. So you tell him the truth, pushing your chest up towards him and pressing his head down slightly so his top lip brushes against your tit.
“Wore it for you, Cheol.”
“Mhm. That’s my girl.”
He sits up straight and pulls you down to him, smashing his lips against yours again as his hands slide around your back, fingertips making quick work of your bra clasp. He pulls the straps down your arms, grunting at the feeling of your breasts relaxing against his own chest; the bra joins your shirt on the floor, and soon after follows his vest, your hands clawing at it to get it off him as fast as you can.
“Up,” he says as your hands trail over his stomach, fingers dipping into every groove of muscle, feeling how they ripple as he reflexively tenses them under your touch. “Now.”
You oblige, climbing off the couch and standing upright. His hand finds the back of your shoulder and he guides you around to the side of the sofa, promptly pushing you down over the arm-rest so your face meets the cushions you were both just sitting on. He pulls your pants down your legs and helps you step out of them, dropping down to his knees and kneading at your thighs with a guttural moan.
“Gonna make you forget all about him, y/n,” he says. “Make you feel so good you won’t even remember his name.”
“Please,” you gasp, feeling his teeth sink into your ass. “So-... fucking good to me…”
He adjusts the position of your legs, bumping them apart until he can settle on his knees between them. His nose drags against the crease between the top of your thigh and the bottom of your ass, his lips trailing kisses all the way from the outside of your leg to where your pussy is throbbing for him. He skips over it, though, nipping and licking at the back of your other thigh, until you’re rocking your hips back to try and push him into your core.
“Be a good girl,” he chuckles, thumbing over the wet-patch in your panties. “I’m gonna look after you. I promise.”
His tongue meets your wetness just a moment after, dragging over the fabric and making you whimper. Your hands scramble to clutch onto something, one grabbing the edge of the seat cushion and the other balling into a fist.
“Fuck, Cheol,” you hiss, feeling the heat from his mouth all over you. “Please – I need it. I need you.”
“Shh,” he says. You can feel his lips twist into a smile. God, you wish you could see him right now. “I’ve got you.”
When exactly his fingers tucked themselves under the waistband of your underwear, you’re not sure: all you know is that one minute, he’s breathing in your scent through the seat of your panties, and the next he’s yanking them down your legs and diving into your cunt like it’s his last meal on death-row. The sheer force of his hands gripping your thighs and his head burying itself between them makes you stumble forwards, the couch groaning as it shifts against the laminate flooring, and you cry out a wet sob of his name.
Who were you kidding, before, when you thought that this wasn’t going to go anywhere tonight?
The build-up to this started the second you told him about the date a week and a half ago.
But you can’t think about the mediocre pasta dish you ate this evening, or the moron who sat across from you at the table who kept checking his phone and glancing over your shoulder. You can’t think about how many times he went to the bathroom after receiving a text, or how he came back grinning cockily before he sat back down.
All you can think about is how deep Seungcheol’s tongue fucks into you. How he fucking slurps all the wetness your pussy can give him, how he groans and moans and chuckles every time he shifts his head forward and flicks the muscle over your clit. Your head is spinning and your eyes begin smarting at the corners when his nails on one hand dig harshly into the fat at the top of your thigh. It stings, but it feels so fucking good. Your knees are weak, you’re about to bite clean through your lip in an attempt to be respectful to Seungcheol’s neighbours, and your knuckles are sore from the force with which your fist is clenched.
Lord, he’s good.
“Don’t hold back,” he gasps, pulling away from you, a string of his own spit and your arousal still connecting him to your pussy. “C’mon, babe. I can feel you’re close.”
The loss of his mouth genuinely feels like the end of the world and you could buckle, in this moment. But he’s done this on purpose: he always does. He knows you. He knows the sounds you make and the way your body moves when you’re tantalisingly on the edge of your climax. His thumbs rub circles into your thighs and you just know he’s got the most obnoxious, insufferable grin on his face behind you while he does it: you can picture it, so perfectly. So easily.
The orgasm you didn’t quite reach starts to ebb away from you and you give a grumble of frustration, pushing up onto your palms to turn around and look at him.
“You’re such a bastard, Cheol,” you hiss, and he grins back at you, his lips swollen and shiny as he licks over them.
“Get that pretty face back down, baby. I’m not done.”
It feels like a delightful punch in the gut, so you do. You drop back down onto your elbows, feeling him shift his position but you can’t see to what; his body heat never leaves yours even when his hands aren’t on you anymore, so you know he hasn’t stood up or gone far. It’s only when you clear your throat that you feel him again. Sat down with his back to the couch, between your thighs, nosing at your clit to get you worked up all over again: his fingers trail over your folds, collecting your arousal, spreading your lips and tonguing between them. You whine for him, keening and confused but overwhelmed at the stark shift from before. How he touches your pussy like it’s the first time, like it’s the last.
He presses one long finger inside you, free hand pushing your hips into just the right position that he can suck your clit into his mouth. You feel yourself grinding down against his hand, begging him for more without having the words to ask for it, but Seungcheol doesn’t need to be asked. It’s intuitive to him. Eating you out could well be his day job. Another finger joins the first and he pumps them in and out of you at a pace you adore, his tongue flicking precisely over the bud in his mouth.
Your disappointingly lost orgasm from before starts to creep up on you again, and you know he knows it too. But this time, he doesn’t slow. This time, he doesn’t stop. He hums in the back of his throat: it’s permission, you realise, to come undone; burying your face further into the cushions, you let out a muffled series of expletives, sobs, moans of his name. You tumble over the edge with a broken cry, fingers curling into the couch cushions, and he only pulls away when your knees actually give out.
His strong frame is the only thing still holding you up by the time you’ve stopped twitching through the aftershocks, remembering how it feels to have full lungs and a working pair of eyes. You roll your head to the side as he slips out from beneath you, immediately sliding his arm around your waist and leaning over you to keep you steady. Through the material of his shorts, you can feel his hard-on poking at your ass: the fact that you’re this fucked and he hasn’t put his cock inside you yet makes your eyes water.
“Okay?” he asks, pressing tender kisses down the length of your spine. You just breathe, nodding with difficulty owed to your current position and the way all your muscles suddenly feel a hundred times heavier than normal. “Talk to me, sweetheart. You okay?”
“M’okay,” you say. “Just… gimme a sec…”
He keeps pressing his lips all over your back, hands rubbing soothing circles on your hips as you fully recover. You nod again when you’re a little more communicative, pushing up onto your elbows once more.
“Said I’d look after you,” he says. “And you were so good for me.”
“Yeah?” you ask, swallowing hard as you twist your spine uncomfortably to look back at him. Fuck it, maybe he’s the most gorgeous man you’ve ever seen. Is that some great secret? Is it such a crime?
“You always are, baby.”
He looks down at you again: at the shape of your body, bent so crudely over the arm of his couch. At your messed-up hair, your smeared makeup, your soft, dewy eyes. He bites his bottom lip, swallowing hard, running a finger from between your shoulder-blades all the way down towards your ass.
“Can I?” he asks, pushing his hips against you again, your still-soaked pussy smearing arousal all over the front of his shorts where it meets them.
“Please,” you nod, shifting your legs slightly to try and get more comfortable. He drops his shorts in a matter of seconds, cock springing free from their confines. It’s thick and veiny, leaking in his palm as he strokes it, one hand coming back to rest on your hip.
“Fuck, babe,” he sighs. “You’re doing so good.”
The head feels delicious against your swollen cunt and you gasp at the pressure of him sliding through your folds, leisurely lubing himself up with your arousal. It glides over your clit and you can’t contain the slight hiss that escapes you. He starts to say something, his voice just audible to you where you’re propped, but for some reason he stops short, and you don’t quite hear him anyway. There’s not enough time to dwell on it though: your eyelashes flutter closed when he prods at your entrance, pushing into you with hardly any resistance at all, and his unstarted, unfinished sentence is forgotten.
It’s still a stretch to take him and he eases himself deeper until his hips are pressed fully against your ass. He rests there for a moment, letting you adjust, letting your body mould to the shape of his own, and it’s only when you reach back with one hand to gently nudge against his wrist to give an okay that he starts to move.
“Good girl,” he says, quieter this time. Like he’s distracted. Like he’s contemplating. But you don’t ask, because you don’t really want to know: every drag of his cock against your walls feels like fireworks bursting over every inch of your skin, like being engulfed in flame, and nothing could take you out of how electric you feel. “Taking me so, so well.”
His hips start to thrust against you quicker, snapping so his cock buries itself deep but mercilessly quickly into your pussy. It’s only a matter of minutes until you’re clenching around him and when you do, Seungcheol – who you noticed early on into your relationship was one of the most vocal men you’d ever had in the bedroom – stops holding back the sounds you think back to when it’s just you and your trusty vibrator against the world. You swear that half the reason your sexual chemistry with him is so unrivalled is because of how loud you can both get.
You don’t know how long he’s fucking you for, sweat beading over both of your bodies and leaving you slick all over. What you do know, though, is that when he bends down over you, supported by one hand bracing his weight against the cushion by our head, he’s close.
He isn’t groaning and grunting anymore. He’s whining. So agonisingly hard and so painfully wound up that he could snap. His voice is little more than a whimper in your ear when his lips ghost over the shell of it, thrusts slowing as he tries to stave off his high just a little bit longer.
“Wanna drown in this pussy,” he says, eyes squeezed shut, jaw falling slack as you spasm around his length again. “Shit – I love y-... love this… love this so much-...”
And this time, you fucking notice.
This time, you hear him. You know what he said before, now. When you didn’t care, when you just wanted him to fill you up, when you just wanted to have him pound into you until your brain disconnected from failed romances and shitty dating apps and people who weren’t him. Because he started to say it then, too – started to say I love y–
And this time… you say it, back.
“I love you too, Cheol.”
Jesus, fuck.
Loving Choi Seungcheol is the easiest thing in the world.
He freezes, buried inside you all the way to the hilt, a bead of sweat running down the bridge of his nose and hanging onto the tip for dear life. His eyes shoot open, his head turns, and you meet his gaze by turning your own. He’s feeling everything. All at once. So are you. Arousal and need and fear – God, so much fucking fear – but love. Adoration, affection, endearment, devotion – shit, he feels it all, and it’s written in every line of his face, and when his lips move into a smile, when the corners of his eyes crease, when he lets it wash over him, it feels better than any orgasm he’ll have for the rest of his life.
Even the one that explodes through him when you start to grind yourself back on his cock and he lets go, fingers scrabbling to hold your hand, lips finding home on the back of your shoulder. He paints your insides with his cum, fucks it into you for as long as he can physically withstand. You don’t even have it in you to chase another climax of your own, too blissed out in the relief of your own feelings to feel inclined to try.
So, maybe there’s a reason you kept accepting dates with men you knew you weren’t compatible with.
Maybe there’s a reason you didn’t give those other people a real chance.
Maybe there’s a reason you always found yourself looking forward to the end of every night having dinner with a stranger.
Because all the roads lead you here. Because it’s easy being here – it’s where you belong.
He stays sheathed inside you for a little while longer, pressing kisses everywhere his lips can reach before he has to pull his softening cock from its home between your legs. You lament at the feeling of emptiness, even as his strong arms wrap around your waist and pull you upright for the first time in so long that your legs feel like jelly. It’s okay, though. He holds you against his chest, burying his head into your neck – there’s no way you’re going to fall.
(At least, no more than you already have.)
“I’ll give you everything,” he whispers to you, moving your hair out the way so he can press small, doting kisses to the line of your jaw. “I can give it to you. I was a fucking idiot before – I’ll give you everything I have. I don’t know if I can be perfect but anything you want–...”
“I just want you, Cheol,” you tell him. “Everything – screw all that. I just want you.”
“Be with me?” he asks. You nod, feeling him light up in a smile for the hundredth time tonight. Even though you can’t see it, you’re sure it’s as blindingly beautiful as the first smile he sent your way, all those years ago. (It was Joshua’s birthday. You remember that, now.) And the second. And every damn time since. “Forever, this time.”
“Forever, this time,” you agree.
Because spending forever with the man who lifts you into his arms and carries you towards his shower, so you can clean down and get ready for bed? Right now, it sounds so –
But everything with Seungcheol has always been easy. Easier than with anyone else.

You arrived at the autumn court, feeling nauseous after the past events of the day. Azriel, the mate you’d loved ever since you met him so long ago, wasn't yours anymore. Looking up, Eris was already by your side, concern in his eyes.
“What happened, love?” He calmly asked.
“Azriel… Elain'' That was the only words that came out of your mouth, tears streaming down your face. But Eris didn't need anything else, he understood. You had told him about your concerns with Azriel and Elain earlier. Eris pulled you into a hug and you just stood there crying out for what felt like an eternity until the world became dark and you fell into a long dreamless sleep.

It had gone weeks since you got to the autumn court and you and Eris were closer than ever. Since Beron had been assassinated just months before there was a lot to fix here, laws to remove and things to change. You had helped Eris all you could, even if he said that you should rest and regain your strength. But you’d just laughed it off. Working distracted you and when Eris realized that he’d given you your own office and now you could sit all day working and helping people in need.
Suddenly you heard a knock on the door and Eris walked in.
“Good afternoon sweetie, care for a stroll in the gardens? I’ve got dinner so we can have a picnic.” He told you. You hadn't really realized that it was already afternoon. Guess time goes faster when you have fun.
“Yeah, sure” Only now realizing how hungry you were.”I'm starving,” you added with a little giggle.
“Good you really should take more breaks from working, otherwise you're going to get wrinkles all over your beautiful face!” Eris joked and you shared a laugh. A laugh, that was the first time since Azriel cheated you’d actually laughed. Adoration shone from Eris' eyes, he really looked like you were his sun, the only thing that mattered to him.
“Come on, I wanna eat before it gets dark!” You giggled, dragging him out in the fresh air. You and Eris walked around in the gardens for a bit before you got to your usual place, a beautiful orange tree beside a river. As you spread out the blanket Eris took out the stuff that was in his mystery basket. Strawberries, wine, pancakes and even more delicious things that made your mouth water. You sat and ate and talked for a while and when the time had reached midnight the two of you were drunk, like really drunk.
“You look really pretty tonight Y/N” He told you.
“ So do you, handsome.”
As his eyes met yours the both of you leaned forward and your lips met. The kiss wasn't gentle nor sweet, it was passionate, needy. As the kiss deepened something clicked. Maybe you and Azriel were wrong for each other. Because the passion you felt with Eris was something that you never had experienced earlier.
Carefully Eris laid you down on the blanket.
“Is this okay with you love?” he asked nicely.
“Yes, Eris, yes.” You mumbled into his hair. And so you ended up making love in the fresh autumn air.

The next morning you were woken up by a gentle kiss pressed against your forehead.
“Good morning love, how are you feeling?” Eris asked.
“Amazing, how do you feel?” You asked with a sleepy voice.
“Better than ever.” He said, now trailing kisses down your neck. “But we have to talk about us.” He continued.
“Of course, Eris I love you, a part of me always has, as you were the one who took care of me all those months ago when we got back from Under the mountain. You were there for me when no one else was, not even my mate. I totally understand if you don't have the same fee-” Eris cut you off with a kiss, a kiss so different from the one you shared before, this was so much more… Real. He wasn't leaving you.
“I love you Y/n, you're my world, I've loved you for so long, always thinking that you didn't see me in that way, we can take it slow if you want, but you’re the one I want by my side, forever.” Eris declared.
“Your little drama queen.” Was the only thing you could get out of your mouth, to shocked by the fact that Eris, the boy you’d had a crush on since you were so very young, was declaring his love before you.
“Well I'm your drama queen.” He laughed pulling you into another kiss.
__________________________________
Months past and you and Eris just grew closer. Your family had made several attempts to see you but you didn't feel ready. They had abandoned you when you needed them the most and you couldn't just forget that. Rhysands had said in a letter that everyone was missing me and that Cassian, Mor and Amren almost had killed Azriel for what he’d done. They were all sorry and just wanted me to come home. But the Night court wasn't your home anymore. Slowly you’d begun to love The Autumn Court and Eris and you had gotten married just days ago. Now you’re Autumn's high lady. It wasn't official. Just the court knew and you wanted to wait before declaring it, or at least make it dramatical. You and Eris had discussed when and where and then the perfect opportunity showed up:
A High Lord (and lady) meeting was to be held at the Day Court, to discuss the restoration of Prythian. And you were going to be there, but for the first time you weren't going to stand by your brother's side, no you were going to have your own throne next to Eris. If you were going to see Rhys you were going to do it on your own accord. That was when you were going to reveal your title. And that meeting, that meeting was today. Right now you were packing and planning what to talk about, what to wear and how to act. You’d known Helion since you were a little kid and the two of you’d always gotten along. He was like you, hiding all his troubles with humor and you hoped that your friendship would help to stabilize an official, and well needed, alliance between the Day Court and the Autumn court.
“Love, are you ready? We have to get going now!” Eris said as he entered your room, greeting you with a kiss on your cheek.
“Yeah let me just get changed real quick!” You murmured to him.
“Do you need a hand?” He asked playfully.
“No we don't have much time and I have a feeling that if you help me my dress is probably going off instead of on” You told him and quickly went into your ginormous wardrobe, an adorable chuckle following you. The dress you had chosen to wear was a piece of art. It was a clear beautiful red color which faded out into endless yellows and oranges. The bodice looked to be made of leaves in all of autumn's colors. It was in short just… Ethereal. You quickly got changed and right outside your room you saw the pleasant sight of your husband leaning against the doorframe. He was clad in a stunning tailored suit, a suit that matched your dress perfectly. In his hand he held the tiara version of the crown that covered the top of his head. He sweetly placed it on top of your head and then held out his arm for you to take. You laid your arm on his and a couple moments later you had arrived in Helions favored castle.
Eris had winnowed the two of you to one of the many entrances where the two of you were greeted by a couple guards. They scienly led you into a ginormous, beautiful room with a glass roof painted in gorgeous golden patterns. Around a round marble table 8 chairs were placed. You quickly realized that the two of you were the first to arrive since the only people in the room, beside the two of you, were Helion and a couple guards. When he saw us he strode towards us with softness in his gaze.
“Y/N! Long time no see. I heard what happened in the Night court and I became so worried that I wouldn't get to see you here!” He greeted you coming in for a hug. You wrapped your arms around his broad figure as he lifted you up, spinning you in the air.
“Oh and hello to you too Eris, what a fine Lady you have gotten your hands on.” Helion said as he put you down.
Eris answered with a chuckle and then spoke. “Fine indeed. Helion could you be an angel and ask your guards to get another chair. We can't have Autumn's High Lady stand through the whole meeting!” He announced.
“High Lady? Well Y/N I guess congratulations are in order-” Helion abruptly stopped and you knew what just happened. You spun around quickly, Eris clinging to your arm, offering support, as you uttered the words “Hello big brother.”

bad at love
Breaking your brother's only unspoken rule—don't date his teammates—has never been an issue in your adult life. Until now.
pairing: jt compher x reader
warnings: angstttt, smut, a minor car accident with mentions of injury (broken bone/concussion), and the usual (alcohol, swearing, etc. etc.)
word count: 4.9k
a/n: hiiiiii @comphy-and-cozy i'm your super secret fic exchange writer! sorry this is a day late and a dollar short. one of these days @wyattjohnston is going to perma-ban me from participating in exchanges. until that date she remains my ever loyal editor. mad thanks to @thomasschabot for reading it first and telling me they loved it even though they're contractually obligated to do so and for physically being there when the fic idea popped into my head <3
Tumblr media
It’s not the first time you’ve shown up at your big brother’s house with a face full of tears and a couple bags full of all your worldly possessions. Despite your best efforts and well intentions—if you had to guess—it likely won’t be the last.
It is the first time you’ve done so with him being a married man, and so it’s your sister-in-law whose comfort you really seek and are expecting to pop up behind the slowly opening door in front of you.
Unfortunately for you, and for the poor soul you really don’t know that well, it’s not Kenzy who opens the door but the over-the-summer pick-up from Colorado.
If it had been any of the other, more tenured of your brother's teammates, you might have been waved inside with nothing more than a sympathetic glance and an unspoken ‘again?’.
Instead, JT’s look of utter confusion has quickly evolved into something more akin to a quiet rage, and you’re reminded that he is a big brother himself. The look is familiar to you, having inspired a similar one on Dylan’s face more times than you can count.
It’s been a really fucking long day, and you don’t have the emotional bandwidth to have any sort of reckoning with some guy you barely know in your brothers drive way.
JT’s in the middle of some sort of sentence that begins and also ends with “What—” as you none too gently push past him in order to finally gain entry to the house.
The mix of sympathy and feigned disinterest that greets you on the faces of your brothers teammates who occupy the large sitting room has your stomach rolling uncomfortably. It seemed like the entirety of the Detroit Red Wings were always around to witness your spectacular failures. What must they think, watching you disappear with the next great love of your life, only to reappear once again with bags packed in a manner of months?
You could hazard a guess at what your brother thinks, the variants of ‘I told you so’ that live and die on his tongue without ever leaving his lips. He wraps you up in an infamous Larkin hug that serves to fix a tiny crack of your broken heart, and so you revel in it like you used to revel in the comfort when the pain you felt was because of falling off the monkey bars when you were a kid.
But, he has a house full of hockey players to entertain and Kenzy has a glass of wine with your name on it. Dylan returns to the living room and you slide out to the back porch with your sister-in-law, briefly catching the eye of the one who let you in. You don’t see the telltale signs of judgment reflecting back at you, but maybe something else entirely.
Outside you pour your soul alongside the Malbec. Curled up on the wicker chair under a blanket you tell Kenzy about Owen and the promises he failed to keep. She oohs and ahs at the appropriate times, commiserating without belittling you.
By the end of the night your heart—and the bottle of wine—feels a little lighter. There’s a little less shame as you make yourself at home in the spare bedroom that might as well permanently be yours.
Owen visits you in your sleep, breaking your heart again and again until his face morphs into one with a ginger beard and kind eyes.
-
Those kind eyes become a fixture in your post breakup life. If he’s not hanging around your brother's house, he’s bumping into you at the local coffee shop you frequent when you’re in Detroit. If he’s at neither, he’s obviously at the games you attend in support of Dylan alongside Kenzy.
At Dylan’s, you barely speak to his teammates and friends beyond simple pleasantries. At your coffee shop, it starts at small talk but grows to be considerable conversations that dip just below surface level.
It’s at Little Caesars Arena where he really endears himself to you though. Warm ups are arguably your favorite part of the games you attend. You like to look out at the signs, from the heartwarming to the obscene—picking out your favorites and giggling about the latter with your sister in law.
Dylan’s always been really good about tossing kids pucks, and his big bleeding heart only grew larger when he got the red C strapped to his chest. Some of the other guys, even some of the so-called vets are less good about it.
JT’s just like Dylan, maybe even a little kinder hearted. He takes the time to read the signs that are meant for him, never turns down a trade for a puck and even gives a stick to a kid whose sign says he came all the way from Denver to watch him, his favorite player, play in Detroit.
It warms your heart.
So much so you don’t even notice you’re staring until Dylan’s slamming himself into the boards in front of you to startle his wife. She rolls her eyes and calls him a name not worth repeating while you try to pretend like you weren’t just fixated on his teammate.
The thing is Dylan has never outright said his teammates are off limits. Not since you were a teenager making eyes at his USNTDP teammates anyway.
The memory keeps you from looking JT’s way the rest of the warmups, but once the puck drops your eyes can’t help but wander.
-
Wandering appears to be your specialty, considering you’ve gotten yourself lost in the underbelly of the arena.
Your first mistake was leaving Ken’s side—she was your ferryman, guiding you down the River Styx, and without her, you were lost in Hell.
Were you overdramatic? Maybe. Were you lost with no hope of getting out? Still overdramatic, but definitely a possibility.
The walls begin to look the same, and you’re half worried you’ve accidentally fallen into a back room or something stupid when you stumble upon the one who caught your eye earlier.
‘Stumble upon’ is a gracious way of saying you absolutely smack into him and fall on your ass.
He hauls you up effortlessly with one hand and your skin burns beneath his grasp.
“What are you doing?” you both say in near unison before he laughs.
“I was getting my shoulder checked out, what are you doing all the way over here? Are you lost?”
Regardless of what he was doing, JT obviously has more of a reason to be found wandering the halls of the arena. And he’s right, you’re most definitely lost but you play it off like he’s crazy.
“Me? Lost? No, I know exactly where we are,” you bluff.
JT’s eyebrows raise and he nods slowly. “Which is…?”
Well, he’s called your bluff but he also gave you a key context clue. “Near the athletic trainer, obviously.”
He laughs again and it has your cheeks feeling hot.
“Okay fine, maybe I’m a little bit lost and maybe I was contemplating how I’d be trapped down here forever before you knocked me over.”
“I’m sorry, but you ran into me.” You roll your eyes and begin to argue, but he doesn’t let that happen. “Doesn’t matter, I can help you find your way out.”
You swoon dramatically, only half joking as you reply “My hero.”
Now that you’re no longer focused on navigating your way out of Pan’s Labyrinth, you’re free to focus on your close proximity to JT. Based on the way his eyes dart between meeting your own and staring at your lips, you assume he’s just as aware.
Is this not what you’ve been wanting since you knocked on Dylan’s door? But that’s part of the problem, and you’re sure JT is thinking the same. Not only is your brother his teammate—and you’ve always been off limits to your brother's teammates to your chagrin growing up—but he’s JT’s captain, too. There’s a million ways this thing could go wrong and blow up in both of your faces.
You could get caught, and be forced to sit with Dyl’s disappointment. You could hurt the one person in your life who consistently showed up for you and loved you and cared for you.
Not to mention you could risk it all for nothing—could crash and burn spectacularly as you were wont to do. Could fuck it all up with not only your brother, but JT too and be left with nothing. It wouldn’t be the first time you’d gone behind your brother’s back, but you had a sneaking suspicion things would be worse than they were when you were 15 to his 16.
Ultimately you decide fuck it, because what’s life without a little risk?
Tentatively, you slide your hand over the rough beard covering his jaw. When he doesn’t flinch or move away from you, you lean in closer.
He’s not pulling away, but he’s also not moving closer, letting you make the first move.
It’s probably a terrible fucking idea, but you’ve never been accused of being someone who makes good decisions when it comes to romantic partners.
The first press of your lips to his is cautious, barely a brushing of your mouths, just to get a taste. Quickly you become a woman obsessed. Unable to get enough, the kisses turn frenetic, bordering on sloppy.
He reciprocates in kind, his mouth hot and heavy on yours while his hands grasp and pull and hold. His very essence consumes you, taking over all of your five senses and pulling noises from you that you didn’t know existed.
If your arm burned from his grasp earlier, your entire body has caught fire.
You’re unaware or probably more accurately uncaring of your public nature, despite your earlier hesitance. Now you just want more and more and more of JT, as much as he is willing to give and maybe even a little more.
He seems to be on the same page, entire body wrapping around you and pulling you deeper and deeper.
Unconsciously your hands begin to pull at the waistband of his pants and it’s then that the two of you finally separate.
You’re worried you’re going to find regret in his eyes and excuses on his tongue, but he’s just looking at you intently.
“Not like this,” he says. “Not here.”
“I don’t want to wait,” you protest, but he shushes you with his mouth.
“It’ll be worth the wait.”
And worth the wait it is.
-
It's sexy at first. Clandestine meetings in dark hallways, sneaking in and out of JT’s apartment that’s on the same floor as Jake Walman’s, covert texts and quiet phone calls where you get off on the sound of each other's voices.
It doesn’t take long for you to want more, though. To fantasize about not just what his calloused hands can do to your body, but what it would be like to hold one in your own while walking down the street. To show up at a home game and have everyone know you were there to support not only your brother, but JT too.
It’s a fantasy that is only stoked by the comfort you feel walking around JT’s apartment in just his t-shirt with his number on the shoulder. By nights spent together at his dinner table, on his couch, in his bed. By sweet texts and stupid memes and random photos of things that made him think of you.
You don’t dare speak your desires out loud though. For fear of JT not wanting the same thing or for fear that he would, you’re not quite sure.
It’s a tough situation to be in. One where you’re worried you're heading to a fork in the road that has JT on one side and your brother on the other.
You have no delusions about the two paths eventually forging back together again, know that you’ve come dangerously close to that intersection marked with a big fat caution sign.
Probably you should speak to JT, get on the same page about where you’ve been and where you’re going. Following that, assuming he secretly yearns for the same thing you do, you should probably then come clean to Dylan.
Probably you should do a lot of things, but unfortunately what is done in the dark always comes to the light and sometimes it happens quicker than you can make your mind up.
-
A road win presumably has JT in a good mood. He’s texted you letting you know he’ll be home before midnight, requesting your presence in his bed.
It’s an easy yes, considering you’re already in the aforementioned bed. It’s nice to get out of Dylan’s house, of the suffocating feeling that you’re intruding in someone else’s home, on someone else’s life.
There’s really nothing particularly sexy about the way he finds you, but his eyes darken upon finding you curled up in his bed just the same. You’re not attempting to recreate a sexy pose from a boudoir photo shoot, and one of JT’s shirts and a pair of boy shorts aren’t exactly fancy lingerie.
That doesn’t stop him from dropping his bag dramatically and stripping from his dress shirt and pants.
“Awfully presumptuous,” you say as if the very fact that you’re in his bed in not much more clothing than he is.
He shrugs, “Not presuming anything. I’m fine if you just want to sleep, but I’m sure as shit not going to sleep in those dress pants. Bad enough I had to sit through a plane ride like that.”
His tone is teasing, but the implication that he would be just as fine falling asleep beside you as anything else pretty well takes all the fight out of you.
“C’mere,” you say instead of a catchy comeback, lifting the covers and inviting him into his own bed.
He wastes no time sliding in beside you and curling up around your body. “Hi.”
You snort and hide your face in his neck. “Corny.”
“I’ll show you corny,” he says, but you shush him by pulling his face closer to yours until your lips brush.
“Thought I was presumptuous,” he says upon breaking the kiss.
You roll your eyes—“Shut up.”—and kiss him again.
He doesn’t manage to keep his mouth shut, but at least this time it’s to slip his tongue into your mouth.
The temperature of the room rapidly increases—between the weight of his body covering your own and your body’s reaction to his fervid kiss, you feel the need to lose at least one item of clothing.
“I need—“
Luckily he quickly understands what you’re trying to accomplish by pulling at the hem of your shirt, lifting off of you long enough to assist in removing it from your body.
He makes a noise of appreciation at the bare skin revealed to him before diving back into your lips, this time with one hand cupping your right breast.
Appreciative noises of your own build in your throat when that hand slides down your body to dip into your underwear. It’s teasing touches at first, until you reciprocate by cupping him through his boxer-briefs.
Finally you both shed that last remaining layer, uncaring of where they end up in the bedroom. There’s a brief pause while he rolls on a condom and then he’s entering your body like it was made for him and him alone.
There’s no rush about his pace, just gentle thrusts and soft moans and sweet praises.
Sex with JT is so good, better than with anyone else you’ve ever been with. He’s the very opposite of a lazy, selfish lover. It’s like your needs and your pleasure come first, and you certainly do too.
The positioning of your bodies is so intimate, bodies close, mouths slotted over each other with intermingling breaths.
You worry you’re getting too caught up in that intimacy, possibly running in a direction not quite warranted and so you seek to depersonalize it a touch.
“Let me,” you say softly while gently pressing a hand against his shoulder, indicating you want him to lay on his back. He moves willingly, even helping you climb atop him.
It feels just as good with you on top, and the bit of distance between your upper halves means you can breathe a bit better.
It’s easy to get lost in the feeling, to tilt your head back and focus on your movements and the feel of his bruising grip on your hips.
Feeling the pressure build in your stomach, you slide a hand down your abdomen to where your bodies meet while the other grasps your breast just for something to hold on to. The added friction to your clit is pulling you closer and closer as you move on top of him.
He’s staring up at you with lust filled eyes, mouth open in a mix of awe and pleasure. A look of almost disbelief on his face. His hands are still on your hips, now helping the movement of your body on his when your body lights up like the fourth of July with your orgasm.
It’s hard to keep moving while in the throes of pleasure, but it’s like JT can read your mind, gripping your hips and thrusting up into you until he finishes too.
Your whole body tingles as you collapse on top of him, relishing in the feel of his arms wrapping around your body. Leisurely you kiss for a minute, until your heart rate returns to normal and you feel like you’re not likely to fall over when going to the bathroom to clean up.
When you return, you’ve slipped on one of his shirts once again. There's a soft look on his face as you crawl into bed beside him. It only cracks when you quietly whisper, “should we order pizza?”
“I think you’re the girl of my dreams,” he laughs.
The room is quiet, filled with only the sounds of your breathing and occasional kissing as you wait for the delivery.
Finally the doorbell rings. “I got it,” you tell JT and pull on a pair of discarded sweatpants before pulling the drawstring so they don’t fall.
You don’t bother to check the peephole, certain it’s your food which turns out to be a giant mistake.
Not only is it not your pizza, it’s also the last person you want to catch you with sex hair in oversized clothing that obviously belongs to the guy you’ve just had sex with.
Dylan’s mouth has dropped so far down it would be comical if it wasn’t also horrifying.
“Dylan I–” you start to explain yourself but pause midway through. How could you even begin to explain?
“I can’t believe this.” He shakes his head, hands curling at his side. “Actually no, I can’t believe this from JT, I can definitely believe this from you.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” you snap.
Your brother laughs sardonically, “Well you’re not exactly known for making the right decisions when it comes to relationships.”
JT exits his room, no doubt lured by the loud voices and the lack of food. “Hey man, come on, let's talk about this like adults.”
“Like adults?” Dylan is incensed in a way you’ve never seen before. “Now you want to talk about things like adults? The time to talk was before you started sleeping with my sister behind my back.”
“I’m sorry you found out like this–” JT continues to try to defend himself, defend you while you stand there speechless.
Dylan interrupts, “Sorry I found out or sorry you got caught?”
JT goes to respond but Dylan cuts him off again. “I trusted you dude. I told you she was off limits, and not only did you ignore me, you went behind my back.” He then turns to you. “And you? My teammate? Seriously? You couldn’t have chosen literally any other douchebag to treat you wrong?”
That snaps you out of your stupor. “JT doesn’t treat me bad!”
A different kind of look crosses your older brother's face then. “Well when he does, don’t come running back to my house and crying to me.”
Dylan slams the door and you sit in the quiet of the room for a minute with your ears ringing.
The reality of the situation hits you.
“I can’t stay there, God not only am I a fuck up but I’m homeless too.”
“You can always stay here,” JT offers and it really bothers you that you can’t tell if he wants you to, or if he’s just offering because of his hand in the most recent blow up of your life.
“I’m pretty sure his baby sister shacking up with his teammate he doesn’t want her with isn’t exactly going to win me any favors with Dyl,” you reply.
“Well I’m pretty sure he’d rather you be here than living on the street.”
Ordinarily you think that would probably be true but the look on his face when you opened JT’s door is seared into your mind. “I wouldn’t be so sure.”
-
In the end you do move your things into JT’s apartment. Kenzy is the accomplice to your crime, helping you pack your things while the team has practice, wrapping you in her arms and telling you that he just needs some time.
“He loves you,” she says.
You’re not so sure.
That’s probably overdramatic. You’re sure he loves you, and you sure hope he forgives you. You’re just worried that this time you’ve both done and said things you can’t take back and you’re not sure how things will move forward from here.
It’s not all bad though.
Living with JT is surprisingly easy, even right one might say. You fit directly into each other's lives like perfect puzzle pieces. His strict routines of practices and morning skates and games—both home and away—allow you the space to complete your own work on your own time. Cooking pregame meals together and curling up beside him when he takes his pregame naps quickly become some of your favorite activities.
You dance around the feelings talk, never quite broaching the subject. But it can’t feel this right if it’s all one sided, all in your head, right?
He’s even kind enough to let you drive his SUV even though the price tag makes you nervous every time you’re behind the wheel. You’re not a bad driver, as evidenced by the fact JT lets you drive the Audi, but you are possibly on this side of over cautious as a result of a bad car accident in high school.
Three home games after your fight with Dylan and approximately zero words or text messages exchanged between the two of you, you find yourself in the passenger seat.
“I could have taken the bus,” you protest weakly, almost knowing exactly what JT’s response will be.
“Over my dead body,” he laughs, eyes flickering over to you before focusing on the traffic in front of him. “Just pick me up after practice or text me if you’re still out and I’ll find a ride.”
“I’m not gonna leave you stranded at the arena, of course I’ll be there after you’re done.”
It’s oddly domestic, kissing JT across the console and then sliding into the driver’s seat that he vacates. You wait as he grabs his gear and walks away, you do really love watching him walk away.
The moment is cut short by catching a glimpse of your brother's vehicle. He’s not in it, obviously already inside the arena, but the sight of it makes your stomach clench all the same.
Thoughts of Dylan and his disappointment and worry that he’ll never forgive you flood your mind the entire drive. So much so that when the next light turns green, you let off the gas without realizing that there is a larger SUV running the red.
It all happens so fast. The screeching of tires, the crunching of metal, the pop of airbags going off and then a blinding pain in your wrist.
In the end, you’re pushed into the wrong lane of traffic, the other vehicle damn near in the passenger seat you occupied only fifteen minutes ago. There’s a distinct ringing in your ears and you offhandedly wonder if this is what it feels like to get boarded.
“Are you okay? I’m calling 911.” The words sound like they’re underwater, and it takes you several seconds to realize they’re being spoken to you. Turning your head to the side, you try to get the words out to say you’re fine, but you’re blocked by the airbag that has gone off near your head.
Emergency services come quickly, a perk of living in Detroit you suppose. Embarrassingly, it takes the jaws of life to peel off the driver's side door to get you out. A cop takes your statement and then you end up in the back of an ambulance. Despite your assurances that you’re fine, one raised eyebrow from the female paramedic and the idea that you’ve probably broken your wrist has you agreeing to the ER visit.
It’s then that someone asks you if there’s anyone you want to call. Heartbreakingly, your first thought is Dylan and your second thought is you’re not sure he’ll pick up.
Your third thought is JT and his SUV that you’ve probably totaled.
One of the paramedics helps you dial the equipment manager’s number, the one you were instructed to only ever use in case of emergencies. If ever there was a reason…
When he picks up the phone, you have to explain that you’ve gotten into a tiny fender bender and if you could please speak with JT and yes I mean JT not Dylan.
“Are you okay?” JT all but demands when he picks up the phone.
“I’m totally fine,” you fib, and then concede based on that same female paramedic once again raising an eyebrow. “Okay so I might have broken my wrist but–”
“Which hospital are you going to?” he interrupts.
You tell him, but try to say, “It’s okay you don’t have to–”
He interrupts again, “I’ll be right there.”
He hangs up quicker than you can ask how he’s going to get there without the car that you’ve wrecked.
True to his word, he’s sitting on a chair in your hospital room when you return from getting an x-ray. He stands abruptly upon your entrance and takes the three strides to stand in front of you before hesitating, like you’re made of glass.
You take matters into your own hands and slide your good arm around his back, careful to not jostle your injured wrist. There's a slight tremor to his body that you feel run through yours.
“I’m okay,” you say comfortingly, rubbing your good hand along his back before pausing. “Your car though….”
The tears are already starting to pool in your waterline as he pulls back.
His hands slide to cup your jaw as he speaks seriously, “I don’t give a damn about the car. It can be replaced, you can’t.” A tear slips out before you can stop it and he brushes it away with his thumb before kissing you softly. “I care about you. So much. And that phone call scared the shit out of me.”
Despite the less than stellar background and circumstances, his words have your heart leaping in your chest. “I really care about you too,” you whisper and kiss him again.
“Where is she?” you hear coming down the hall and it occurs to you that your brother is still your emergency contact.
“Did you tell him?” you ask JT who promptly shakes his head.
You don’t even have time to step back from JT’s embrace before Dylan comes crashing into the room. JT wisely pulls away and gives Dylan the space to place his hands on your shoulders and scan for any signs of injury.
“I’m okay,” you reassure him but the words feel hollow considering they’re the first you’ve said to him in more than a week. “Broken wrist they’re gonna cast and probably a concussion. Can’t say the same for the car.”
Eerily similar to JT, Dylan replies, “Cars can be replaced–”
“But I can’t,” you say in unison with him. “I know, JT said the same thing.”
It’s like Dylan remembers his teammate then, eyes sliding over to where JT stands and then back down to your slowly purpling wrist.
The room is silent except for the sounds of medical equipment and the faint sounds occurring outside the door.
“I’m sorry,” you say in unison with your brother again.
“No, I'm sorry,” he says first. “I’m your big brother and I’ve seen you get your heart broken too many times. I’m always going to worry about you but I was out of line.”
“I’m sorry we went behind your backs and I’m sorry you found out that way. We should have just talked to you, I should have just talked to you.”
“Truce?” he asks, like you’re 10 and 11 again, fighting over something silly and trivial.
“Truce,” you confirm, hissing when you knock your broken wrist as you pull him in for a hug.
Later, when you’ve gotten over the guilt of totaling JT’s barely used Audi and the cast on your wrist is long gone,  it’ll be a fun story to tell at parties. About how it took an idiot running a red light for you to define your relationship with JT and to reconcile with your brother.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
my masterlist!
part one and part two!
summary: harry goes over to y/ns hotel for a good old room service dinner, also getting a little tipsy on wine, while starting to blur some lines. and it’s not long before things are no longer just between the two of them.
warnings: fluff, swearing, alcohol, getting a lil wine drunk, paparazzi, being confused on if you’re falling in love or just really good friends.
a/n: i’m so excited to finally have this written for you all! i’ve had some pretty bad writers block, hence the delay in getting it to you, but thank you so much again for your support and I hope you enjoy <3
———
There’s a certain type of attatchment that comes around once and a while. It’s rare.
It’s when things start to flourish. Maybe with a hobby, a passion, or a new found person. One your brain decides to put all its focus and interest on, to the point it’s all consuming.
This one gets stuck to you like glue. Hard to shake in the sense of no matter how hard you try to ignore it, it’s all you can think about.
Losing yourself in daydreams of something or someone without even realising, until you’re reaching for anything that will bring you closer to filling that need.
That’s exactly what’s leading you to be reaching for your phone at any given point of the day.
You imagine many perceive it to be a permanent growth on your person. But you can hardly help it. Texting is a simple way to reach someone. Feel connected.
So, safe to say you’ve messaged Harry more than your own family over the course of this trip.
You’ve become attached. To Harry Styles. Again…?
Of course, being a huge fan it’s easy to say you should probably already be accustomed to this, given your level of obsession.
But this is a whole other ball game. One that is becoming like an internal battle. Your already unhealthy and predisposed infatuation paired with now a real physical connection is enough to render you useless.
You reach for your phone. Text him, your brain begs. You consider. No, stop being clingy you loser, your brain rolls her metaphorical eyes. You place the phone down. Stare at a wall. Think about him. Rinse, repeat.
Not normal, you don’t think.
However, you search for some kind of justification. That you’re just good friends, and all that shit. It’s normal to miss someone you’re friends with.
If he considers you as that.
Which you would hope since you’ve been texting him enough it would be concerning if he saw you as just some mutual of his.
You’re also sitting in a cafe, unfortunately without him right now. Eating a croissant wishing that he were here. Allowing your gaze to linger on the chair across from yourself, imagining his solid frame filling up the empty space. What he would do if you stood up and ran a hand through his hair, maybe lent down a little so you could just—
The ring of the bell atop their entrance chimes and drags you out if your dangerous and spiralling thoughts. And for some reason get excited like you’ve somehow manifested this man to walk through the cafe door by thinking of him.
Feeling silly at the nag of disappointment in your stomach as you see an ordinary bloke saunter over to the till.
Maybe one you would check out, or emit some kind of interest in before you properly met Harry. You would feel disloyal now. Like the parasocial relationship has entered an entirely new level of psychotic.
If it’s still parasocial, that is. Or if now you’re just simply a girl with very cloudy and mixed feelings about a very beautiful man.
You audibly sigh out. Eating the final bite of your admittedly delicious croissant and picking up your phone.
You type out a message, sending it before you can even think it.
I’m in a cafe right now without you and you’ve honestly ruined them for me. I miss you and your free cups of tea.
Without me? Rude.
You laugh at his quip, watching as the little bubble pops back up indicating he’s typing.
I’m out right now, but if you’re not busy later we can do something? Go out or I can come over to yours.
You pluck mindlessly at your bottom lip with your teeth, how could you say no to that?
You stress over it either way.
well, you’re very welcome to come over to my hotel room. we can order room service if you want?
To this he texts back an agreement, seemingly keen. And you realise immediately you have to tidy your room before he comes over.
You swing him the location of where you’re staying, including your room and floor number.
Thank you love, ill be there in like 3 hours say? If that works for you.
At that, you stand, because who are you if not over-prepared. And it was time to go make sure your room didn’t like a war had been waged in it when he came over for the first time.
Cant be having a bad impression, you figured.
———
You did in fact rush back to your hotel complex. Not even stopping a crepe stall you passed by, which had to be a first for you. You clean the place until it appears well-kept at the least.
And once you’re finished, you easily fall back into overthinking the whole thing. So excited, yet getting those anxious jitters like a caffeine addict 12 hours no coffee.
Which is why you decide to busy yourself with an afternoon shower. And at the time you’d still had over an hour to go.
You take of course longer than you intended, and shortly after you come out there’s a knock at your door, easily making you jump as you tug a shirt over your head. Regretting the last minute decision for a shower since now you have wet hair and probably look like a right mess.
But it’s not like you can leave him out there while you go blow dry your hair, so you rush over to the door, and tug it open.
His brows shoot up, and a smile slowly blooms on his face as he takes in your appearance.
Your hair is still near dripping, and you stand in bike shorts and a loose tshirt. The most casual he’s ever seen you. Which he loved the look on you more than he admits to himself.
“Hi darling,” he smirks, a warm feeling settling over him as he keeps his eyes on you.
“Hey, Harry.” You stand for a few moments longer, finally shuflling out of his way to let him through the door. He is adorning a white shirt and has the cutest little bandana around his neck.
“I’m sorry,” You laugh, gesturing him inside, “I was drastically overestimating how long it would take me to shower… hence why im in this state.”
He pulls a hand from behind his back, a cup being presented to you.
“Don’t be silly, y’not in a state at all.”
“You’re joking—“ You gently take the cup from his ringed hands, “Harry!”
“M’sorry, m’sorry. I saw a coffee van on the way and I couldn’t help myself.”
“Did you get one for you?”
“No, but I did have a little sip of yours.” He confesses with a quiet laugh. But he quickly busies himself with your room, padding around and peeking out the balcony window.
You take a sip, watching him examine your space. Grateful you cleaned it.
He asks you a few questions about random things in your room, and you settle yourself on the foot of your bed, cross-legged.
You didn’t really think about the lack of seating in your one man room. But this hardly bothers Harry, since he’s scoped up the room service menu from wherever he found it, and sat next to you.
“Alright… what d’we have.” He talks to himself, opening up the menu and scanning over the foods.
You discuss the options, settling on a pizza and pasta to share, because, well, you’re in Italy.
The night progresses easily as time always seems to do when you’re together, and you fake fight over the best kind of pasta sauce. But he lets you have to last slice of pizza so peace is made shortly after.
“Should we order a wine or something? T’wash the pasta down.” He suggests as the sun begins setting.
“Why not, I won’t say no to some wine.”
That gets ordered to your door, and you go from the foot of the bed to lazing at the head of it. Sipping on wine and recounting old stories, or discussing stupid topics.
“Do you think the chicken or the egg came first?” You swirl your glass around, eyes shifting to look at his side profile as he gazes at your roof.
His cute nose outlined by the warm light off the lamp, which you flicked on in the corner after it got dark.
He bursts out into a laugh, “what kind of question is that?”
“I feel like it indicates the sort of person someone is.” You shrug, smiling.
“What like it gives you an intel on my personality?”
“Something like that.” You nod, “and decides if we have to stop being friends, if you answer the wrong one.”
He grins, “Well, maybe tell me which one to pick so we don’t have to do that.”
“Awh, so you don’t want to stop being friends?” You coo, still staring at him, watching as his eyes flick from the roof over to you.
“Of course not, who else am I meant to go on cafe dates with.” He laughs.
You’re both teetering on the edge of being tipsy, and it’s evident in the way you’re both talking to one another. Borderline flirting, probably a more fitting way to describe it.
“True, because I’d be very hard to replace.” You snort with sarcasm, taking the another sip of wine.
“You would be! I love our little dates.” He smiles, the second time he’s dropped the word date in the last minute.
You’ve scooted closer to one another somehow. Shoulder to shoulder as you steal glances of his beautiful face. Maybe this was subconscious, or on purpose. But you’re drawn to him like a magnet.
“So do I…” You flush.
“I’m a little tipsy.” You clarify, breaking the searing eye contact and looking at the near-empty glass in your hand. A fourth refill would easily tip you over the edge.
He lets out a quiet laugh, “Wine gone to y’head too?”
“Mhm, and I have a track record of poor decision making when I have too much of it.” You recall the plenty of times you did the stupidest shit just because you were wine drunk. Hoping that does not happen tonight.
“Might have to see it one day.”
“One day…” you agree, but you realise that you’re not really in Italy for much longer. You have about a week and a half left now.
“I… Harry,” you turn your body to face him, and he sits up a little, noticing the almost serious tone to your voice.
“I’m leaving soon.” You blurt it out, because it’s the only topic of conversation you’ve both been steering clear of. The thing neither of you want to address because eventually this won’t be easy to do. Who knows how many miles could get out between you.
And it almost hurts you to admit yourself because… where exactly does that leave you both?
Does your contact end when you leave Italy? Do you become people who occasionally text on a bi-monthly basis?
He draws a breath, “So am I.”
You let out your own tortured sigh, turning to pop your glass on the beside table and then lean your head onto his shoulder.
Your heart jumps at the contact, and somewhere in your brain, sober Y/N lets out a gasp, because she would never have the balls to do that.
So the wine maybe was a great idea…?
He wraps an arm around your back, “I go back to London after this.”
“Second week of August as well?” You pray it’s not earlier than the start of the month, since tomorrow is literally the 1st.
“Yea, the 13th.” He nods and it’s the only tiny shred of relief you’re getting from all this. That there’s still time left.
“I fly out on the 12th.” You say quietly.
But there’s a small silence that consumes you both for the first time since you met. Because you’re kind of exasperated for options right now. What do you say to someone who is going to inevitably slip from your grip.
You shake your head at nothing in particular, moving to wrap your arms around his shoulders, since words really weren’t going to cut it.
Somewhere in his muddled brain he notes this is the second time you’ve ever initiated a hug. And he leans into it, the arm he had around your back tugging you infinitely closer.
Your cheek is pressed to his neck, and you swear you feel his lips ghosting over the top of your head.
Slowly, you pull back. And he watches you with sharp green eyes. You hold that gaze, until he’s the one that breaks it. Stifling a groan with his hand, covering his face.
You look at him quizzically.
“I like this more than I probably should.” He gestures now between the two of you.
You chuckle, a tiny flutter in your stomach announcing it’s presence.
“So we’re making the most of the time left in Italy, then?” You put forward, ready to nearly wipe your schedule clean for the man.
Which, who could blame you?
“What are y’doing tomorrow?”
“Nothing, if you’re the one asking.” You laugh, and he smiles wide at your comment.
“Oh, is that so darling?”
You roll your eyes in attempt to be convincing, “of course, you always buy me tea so…”
“Well, that decides we’re going to another cafe I suppose.” His hand reaches for his phone strewn on the quilt somewhere, pulling up google maps to find some nearby cafes.
You perch your head back onto his shoulder to watch him scroll through the options. He stumbles on a beautiful looking one, less than a 10 minute walk away. He looks to see if you approve.
He peers down to where you rest on his frame, smiling unwillingly at the sight of you. Your own eyes trailing up to meet his.
And he swears they linger on his lips. Just for a fraction of a second.
“Mh, what d’ya think.” He gets out, voice suddenly several octaves lower. Almost gravelly.
You almost audibly gulp at the sound of him. Hyperaware of his existence right now, you could nearly zone out thinking about the strength of his arm muscle that’s right now pressed against you.
“Yea… yea that looks amazing. And tomorrow, what time?” Your hands fiddle with themselves in your lap.
“How about 1, since you’re probably gonna wanna sleep in a bit.” He suggests, free hand pushing his curls from his eyes.
The way he knows you’re probably going to want to sleep in. God.
“I’m down.” (Bad)
A smile erupts over your face, and you almost forget that the clock is still ticking. That you only have so long left here.
Which ‘almost forgetting’ isn’t enough to stifle the urge to use it as some kind of yolo shit. Because that is unbelievably strong. Like why not just invite him to stay the night?
Maybe another glass of wine and you can gaslight yourself into cuddling him and just falling asleep. He wouldnt leave unless he had to, so it’s an almost flawless plan.
———
The plan infact, was flawless.
To say the least, he slept at yours. In your bed.
I mean you don’t really remember it, since you talked into the early hours of the morning and drank some more alcohol to really top it all off.
You woke up under the covers, still clutching onto Harrys side.
He was already awake, scrolling on his phone, seemingly unbothered by the fact your head had taken residency on his chest.
You take the initiative to glance at the time in the upper-right corner of his phone, a little shocked when it reads 11:47am.
You do groan at the morning light streaming in the windows immediately after seeing the time though.
“G’morning. D’ya have a headache?” He asks with what you can only assume is the end of his morning voice. Which although just a taste, is enough to send you spiralling.
It’s also around now you realise he’s stripped down into boxers— still clad in his white shirt. What the fuck!
You struggle to form a coherent response.
“Morning. A little.” Your voice comes out as a hum.
Somehow, considering you’re cuddling him right now and you literally just slept in the same bed all night, both of you outwardly are quite relaxed about it.
Nothing is awkward. It feels lovely.
“I want a croissant so bad.” You huff, sitting up, stomach growling like as if you hadn’t eaten in a whole 24 hours.
“So, you’re the kind of person that’s hungry immediately after they wake up?” He laughs, hand coming to push the locks of your bed hair out of your face.
Outside of the sheer domesticity of that (which makes you literally have heart palpitations), your hair is a proper train wreck.
The humidity in Italy has made it horrific.
“I guess I am right now?” You reply to his previous ask, combing your fingers through the locks.
“Jesus Christ.” You curse at its uncooperativeness.
“Y’know that episode of friends where Monica complains about how the humidity fucks her hair, she was so right.”
“I love friends.” He immediately gasps, nearly jolting upright in excitement.
You laugh at his enthusiastic reaction, noting that you have to somehow find time over the next week to watch an episode or two with him.
“And if it’s any consolation, I think your hair looks great.”
“Yea well, it’s not like you’d really be able to relate to the frizzy hair. Since yours look so perfect all the time.” You joke.
This evokes a genuine flush on his face, “Alright, Y/N, calm it down.”
He’s laughing but you swear he actually looks a little flustered. Without the wine as a confidence booster, he seemed like suddenly he didn’t know how to take a compliment.
Unbelievable to you since he probably gets that many a day from strangers on the street.
“I, am going to get up and get ready then, so we can go out and eat.” You state, excited to be seemingly spending the majority of the day with him.
He holds back the urge to beg you to stay in bed with him, and says something nonchalant as if he doesn’t mind you getting up. But when you pad off to the bathroom he stares at your now empty space. And immediately shivers at the lack of your body warmth, despite the already warm humid weather.
After a few trips in and out of the bathroom you come out looking beautiful. And he has to get himself up and ready to go in attempt to not overthink it.
You craved his closeness the whole time it took you to prepare for the day. Every few minutes you’d get this almost overpowering urge to just go out there and throw yourself back into his arms.
It’s borderline pathetic. But now you’ve had him in your bed, his strong arms coddled around you, it’s very hard to not to be just that. His physical presence is perfect and comforting. You’re attached to that as much as any other aspect of him.
He puts on his pants, which were folded neatly on his own bedside table, plucking out the car keys in his pocket, “Im gonna nick down to my rental car, because I have an extra button up in there, so I’ll wear that out.”
He comes back and changes into said white button up, stripping his worn shirt off and leaving it somewhere.
Just like that, you’re ready to go, and you both decide to walk the short way there. It was too nice a morning to not.
The whole walk you’re chatting away as usual. But it’s paired with this newfound physical aspect. The way you so obviously want to be close it hurts.
Yet somehow you both act like it’s nothing. That the brushes of hands and shoulder as you’re in step beside each other is a simple coincidence.
And that when you get breakfast, the two croissants and shared cookie is just a friendly thing. In your head you’re even playing off the touching all throughout breakfast.
Which sounds dirty— but just the little conversational touches. Like a hand reaching out to touch a forearm in laughter, acting as if it adds something important to the moment being shared.
Or that somehow when you leave the cafe, with two takeaway cups of tea, the hands that end up interlinked softly between the two of you is just…
Well… who even knows anymore?
Because you’re walking through italy beside Harry— who is talking about his favourite kind of playground equipment, regardless of if he’s a near thirty year old man— all while holding your hand.
And to take a moment, because it’s important, his hands are everything they’re talked up to be. Littered with chunky rings and calloused fingertips from the years of guitar playing. Yet contrasted by his soft palms, which cups yours with this delicateness it almost brings a tear to your eye.
You also pray that your own hand isn’t sweating profusely in his grasp, because you wouldn’t put a clammy hand past yourself. The already humid weather paired with your anxiety surrounding this whole situation is quite literally the match made in hell.
Nothing about this can be passed off as casual to your brain anymore. You’re literally about to implode.
But you strive to hide it. So you solider on.
“I’m a seesaw girl okay. Hear me out—“
“No, I can totally see that!” He interjects, and you chuckle at his quick agreement to your statement.
“Right? They are so much fun. And even though I nearly took a tooth out playing on one when I was 7, I can still recognise they are superior.”
To that he laughs and bumps his shoulder into yours, “I mean I love that. I’m probably a swing person, I feel like no matter the age I will always be down for it.”
You can agree that a swing is a solid second favourite for you. And as you talk about that point with him, you don’t realise you’ve walked the whole ‘scenic’ route back to your hotel until you turn the corner and the entrance is around the corner ahead. And the way you went usually takes an extra 20 minutes.
It went so fast.
“Are you gonna head off or… come back up with me?” You ask gingerly, the hand not interlaced with his fiddling with the fabric of your clothing.
“Not sick of m’yet?”
“Never…” You shake your head, smiling as he gleams at your answer.
“M’flattered. The feelings mutual love,” he chuckles, “However I do have to go remind my family I’m alive. But it’ll only take about a day until they’re pleased for me to ditch them.”
Gently runs his thumb over your knuckles, whether it be subconsciously or not, “So tomorrow night ill come back over to yours for dinner if you y’want?”
You smile, a little sappy over the way he’s working a plan out like you’re both teenagers, “Yea, thats perfect, and we can try something else off the menu.”
“Maybe, if you want,” he begins carefully, “after that you can come over to where we’re staying. Meet my mum and sister. They’ll love you.”
Now you’re nearly bursting at the seems, “Oh, I would love that, H!”
“Okay, it’s a plan then.” He agrees, pulling his keys from his pocket.
You bid your farewells for the night, unlinking hands and being left with a tingling sensation in it, one that you wonder if he’s also getting.
You go to your hotel room and feel full with joy.
He is all too sweet for this world. And you’re a little obsessed.
———
Although Italy being in Italy feels like being in a bubble, and like you’re so far away from the real world, it is unfortunately a purely mental one.
And there’s one thing about a headspace like that, and it’s just how quickly it can be popped.
At midnight that night a notification pops up on your phone, one that when you open, you have to physically put your phone down.
harryflorals:
what do i even caption this post because is that who i think it is or am i officially delusional? “HARRY WITH A FAN FROM THE LAST SHOW, HOLDING HANDS IN ITALY!” correct me if I’m wrong YALL idek anymore.
And this time, there’s no grain saving your ass. Because this was taken on what, quality wise, looks like a digital camera.
Which has made it so painstakingly obvious that it’s you. And you don’t even remember it being taken?
It was when you were walking back from the cafe, holding hands probably talking about fucking seesaws.
And everyone has caught on fast, because in the comments it’s an all out frenzy.
So, cats officially out of the bag.

Water Tasting | Neuvillette x Reader
This was a joke between my friend and I, but seeing as how I've entered my Neuvillette obsession phase, I might as well throw out at least one fic for him. Enjoy~
Word count: 832 Unedited; please don't mind <3
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry I came here so late. I didn't intend to get lost." You said with a slight dry chuckle. Neuvillette sent a small smile your way, waving his hand a little.
"Not at all, I said my doors were open to you at any time of the day. Besides, I'm also taking a bit of a break, myself. So it's quite perfect."
You followed Neuvillette further into his office and found a nice seat for you, while the long-haired man looked over at you.
"Are you thirsty? I have a wide array of beverages you may like." You eyes lit up and you sent him a smile, along with a nod.
"Oh yes! I'm absolutely parched."
"You're in luck." The chief justice walked over to a large cabinet and opened the doors, revealing many fancy bottles, decorated with beautiful text and adorned with gems. Honestly, you weren't even sure you wanted to drink such expensive looking beverages.
"This one is from Mondstadt, you've been there, yes? It's quite the popular one. I wouldn't say my favorite, but I do like to indulge every now and then." You were certainly familiar with the variety of drinks offered in Mondstadt, so you figured it was akin to dandelion wine. The bottle had the colors of Mondstadt and even had a small symbol. You couldn't make out the writing from where you sat, but the bottle, itself, was absolutely beautiful.
"Oh, like dandelion wine, right? I've had it before, it's great."
"No, it's not wine. What gave you that idea?" He asked, which confused you, honestly.
"Well you mentioned it was popular in Mondstadt... they're known for their dandelion wine..." you elaborated but Neuvillette shook his head. Without hesitation. Maybe he didn't like alcohol? You knew a guy like that- a certain tycoon.
"Oh, so it's more like a juice. I know their-"
"No, it's water."
What...?
The long silence hung in the air as the two of you stared at one another. You really weren't sure what to say to that, but the awkward silence was getting to you.
"Like... triple digit water? It's not their famous spring vale holy water right?" Knowing how that water was bottled, you'd feel awful knowing Neuvillette fell for such a scam. However, much to your delight, he shook his head.
"Anyway," he reached for another bottle, one that looked like it brandished Liyue's design and markings. "This one is from Liyue and I heard even their own Archon was quite in favor of it. I, myself, have enjoyed it every now and then but it's not my favorite."
"Is... is that water too?" You asked, making Neuvillette give you a sweet smile and a nod. You only returned the nod as you realized... all of those bottles on the shelf were water. Just water. Unflavored, plain water.
"This one, however, is my favorite. It's a brand from Snezhnaya and it's best served chilled." You almost laughed at his words but buried it deep, deep down.
There was something so innocent and sweet about his fascination with different brands of water. The passion in his voice just brought a smile to your face and somehow the awkwardness of the situation lifted as he got into the other various bottles, claiming the one from Inazuma did seem to have a sweeter scent and flavor to it and was one of the more comforting drinks in his collection.
You found yourself getting lost in his voice as he kept going on and on about the different varieties of waters from all over Teyvat. He claimed there were still a great many he hadn't tried as he doesn't have the chance to leave Fontaine with his position being so high up in the court.
"Well? Is there one that beckons you? Or are you unhappy with the selection?" Neuvillette asked with a slight tinge of disappointment in his tone. Maybe even a hint of shyness.
"No, that's not it! I was just expecting different and you surprised me." You assured him, waving your hands a little.
"Oh? What were you expecting?"
"Like Fonta or something."
"No, we don't drink that garbage here." Ok, now you had to laugh. You threw your head back as the fit of giggles finally escaped your system before you calmed yourself. Neuvillette just stood by, unsure of what could possibly make you laugh like that.
"I'll take your favorite then. We can enjoy it together." His confusion melted into a smile and he nodded, grabbing the Snezhnayan water and closing the cabinet. He walked over to you with two- what you would call chalices- and poured you a generous amount. He sat down across from you and you lifted the cup to your lips.
Taking a small sip, the cold water rushed across your tongue and cooled down your entire mouth. Water was water, but there... was indeed an interesting flavor behind this one.
Maybe Neuvillette had a point- water had flavor. This one did anyway.

First of all, hi 💕, i just wanted to say that your headcanons are amazing and that i love it here. And if ist ok and you are acepting anons, can i be dumbass anon? Also x2, i let my imagination run free, and i thought of something, what kind of dates do think the kings, nobels and/ or angels would have with you? I thouht of these: Motorbike ride with Satan, spa date with Paimon, picnic by the lake with Mammon, walk in the forest with Andrealphus, bar and restaurant hopping with Beel, after lots of begging flying with Michael, beach date with Gamigin. Bonus for babyboy: movie and sleepover with Minhyeok. Sorry, i kind of in a fluffy mood (one of the 4 moods i have apart from: sad bitch, horny and caotic dumbass)
This has been sitting for a while dumbass anon, please forgive <3 BUT because it's been a minute, this is going to be one big fluffy sfw post for all devils/angels!! (though I will leave out the cherubim because I know mehhh very little of them?)
Tumblr media
🖤Dates with your Faves, WHB Edition 🖤
Tumblr media
Satan: An ideal date with this king is one of the most thrilling. You can count on traveling the country on his motorbike, trying out the local cuisine and bars, and maybe getting into a little trouble like sneaking into a movie you didn't pay for (as if anyone cares but...) or purposely antagonizing one of the other kings with a prank call. But he ends the day with visiting an abandoned ruin or building where you can watch the sunset together.
Stiri: Tea, tea, tea! There's a place in Gehenna that's similar to wine tasting except it's tea tasting. After selecting a loose leaf to take home, he takes you to a thriller suspense movie, it gets your heart going and that way he can hold your hand during (as if he needed a reason)
Paimon: Shopping malls stand no chance. You're both coming out with new outfits, sticker books from a niche department store, and perfume. Next is a spa day at the palace where neither of you is bothered, and you can relax all day.
Leraye: Trying to impress you he takes you on a nature hike! Even though he's a bit winded from the hills, the scenery is amazing. Bonus if there's thunder and rainy weather during your hike, the two of you bundled under an umbrella as he tries his best to hold back the horny and enjoy your company. Anything is worth it when it's with you. Astaroth: A quiet evening of listening to audiobooks and drinking fine wine (or sparkling red grape juice if you don't like alcohol) is perfect for this devil. He may try to slip an erotica in there, but it's just to tempt you.
Belial: He left Jiyu behind with Ppyong so he could go on your date. And just so happens there's a concert going on nearby. He loves the music, and he loves your energy after you both go to his favorite restaurant so he can recommend dishes for you, silently yes, but it's still just as fun as he loves hearing you speak, bonus points if you sing for him.
Zagan: A yoga session (don't worry he'll help you!), and tailisman writing course along with a paint and sip event. He's just happy to spend time with you any way he can, and you've gotten much better at reading his expressions!
Ppyong: Awh, let's not forget our fave little red lump! A day trip to the human world so he can eat all of his fave junk food and dishes is sure to make him happy. But he also wouldn't mind if you made some of his fave dishes in Gehenna from scratch.
Tumblr media
Mammon: A date with this king is so over the top that you feel bad for even showing up without a fancy outfit. However, this time he opts for a quiet dinner at the palace, meaning the best cooks providing a feast, a massage for two, and cuddling in each other's arms on his balcony as you watch the golden rivers shimmer against the sunset.
Bimet: Better have some cash handy so you'll be ready to buy whatever it is he finds during your date that he wants. But also expect to be spoiled for once. For his favorite person he goes all out, he may cheap out on a couple things, but it's for a purpose. After window shopping, he takes you a place that fully customizes anything you desire and he pays for it.
Valefor: Oh he's a gentleman through and through. He's been saving up for your date to make sure it goes well, but you help by suggesting things that require more of his attention and time than money. He appreciates it and loves you more for it, a quick stroll around town, eating ice cream, and well it's his cheat day so he's chowing down on carbs!! Pizza and a movie with him is the best. Eligos: The only thing you'd need to do for his date is show up, look cute (not cuter than him) and pet his head the entire time you're walking around looking at items at the outdoor mall. He eats a lot so be prepared to stop at every little restaurant or cafe to grab a snack or an entire meal. He wants you to feed it to him.
Tumblr media
Beelzebub: Oh, he actually remembered your date? Nope, there was no specific time, he literally showed up, took you, and went around Avisos showing you the different places you can hang out at (sounds familiar yeah?) only this time no funny stuff, he just wants to spend time with you and is very clingy the entire time. It's a foodie date again too, except a little easier on your stomach than last time. And he wants to take you to the store that sells a weird variety of candy aphrodisiacs.
Bael: He's so stressed out he almost forgot to take time off for your date. The two of you stay at the palace and enjoy each other's company by having good food, and massaging each other, and there's an indoor hot spring! He needed this and may fall asleep on you during the date but it's cute. Let him sleep.
Amon: He's never been on a date before, so he's quite clueless about what you'd want to do. But he likes seeing you blush each time he does something cute or flirty, so he keeps that up. A beach date is perfect, he can't wait to see you in your swimsuit. Embarrassed? Even better.
Stolas: He's annoyed that you suggest going out for the date, mostly because he doesn't want to deal with any random bs in the heart of Avisos. But after some convincing you both visit that maid cafe together and feed each other desserts. You'll have to split the bill though.
Naberius: It's so cliche but a zoo or an aquarium is a good date for him. Or...a science/art museum! But there's nothing "normal" about these places in Avisos, so get ready to see strange creatures, some that may have escaped from their enclosures...but he's got you. Oh and that new Italian restaurant that opened up? Check your meal for hair...
Tumblr media
Leviathan: A date? With you? As if...(goes anyway because you asked him out and he doesn't want anyone else to go with you) It's somewhere quiet, serves nice pastries, and good drinks/tea. A boba shop, connected to an area for quiet sitting and reading. He orders for you, and gets upset and hangs the cashier if the order isn't right. But it's okay, no worries, you distract him anyway with jumping right into conversations about your hobbies. He seems to not care but he does, because he gets mad if you stop talking and ask about him lol
now let's say in a perfect world Levi even allows his nobles to go on a date with you...
Foras: A magic show. Yes. I know it's corny and he can spot every trick, but he finds it fascinating that someone here in Hades even bothered to entertain in such a way. Also, time spent with you? You want to spend time with him? He's glued to you the entire time.
Barbatos: Oh he's the biggest hopeless romantic. A stroll in his personal rose garden, nude...and has been growing a specific breed of rose just for you. Sunbathing and plenty of rose-centered dishes. He's just trying to impress you as much as possible.
Glasyalabolas: A date? Well, this was hard to get out of him because he declined, finding the thought of it pretty unsightly. But, you mention there's a film showing that the patrons are at risk of dying if they watch it, and now he's interested. Movie date it is- (and surprise no one dies and Glas already knew that you were lying once you got to the theatre, he just had a hard way of expressing wanting to spend time with you)
Orias for the heck of it: He knows that going on a date with you would annoy Levi, so he makes it very obvious that you two are going on one. He's dressed up, best makeup, best shoes, and outfit, he knows Levi spies on you so he makes it to where each time he kisses your cheek he brags about how soft your skin is. After all that tormenting and Levi not reacting, he gets bored and cuts the date short. He has better things to do. (brat)
Tumblr media
Lucifer: He does not require much for a date. He's just happy to have you around. This consists of no Gamigin or Jjok, nor his nobles because this is just a date (though they are closeby) tea in his garden, sitting in silence, he may ask to hold your hand or heck have you sit in his lap. Just peace and quiet...for once.
Gamigin: He's so energetic! Something that exerts alot of energy is key, so a hike, dancing, amusement park, nature park, anything stimulating. Plus if you get hurt during he can instatly heal you with his staff! Expect blushing, hand holding, and nose kisses.
Morax: Awh, poor baby is worried about you the entire date. "Do your feet hurt? I can carry you" "Oh that dish is too hot let me check" "I think this may have an ingredient that's deadly, I'll taste." He's also just so courteous and chivalrous it's too sweet. You two are probably eating a nice dinner, or enjoying the library or art museum.
Buer: He's originally from Tartaros so he's got the cash saved up to pay for a nice date anywhere in Hell. In fact, that's where you end up going! He's treating you to a lavish dinner, and a quiet evening at the palace resort (yes there's a resort attached) He makes tea for you himself during your downtime at the resort.
Marbas: Goodness, his idea of a date is trying to figure out what it is that you even like to do. Expect him to stare at you a lot, make awkward comments, and thank goodness he took off his restraints during the date, but you do have to remind him to keep pulling up his pants.
Tumblr media
Belphegor: Well, let's just say that your date with him would be...him staring at you intently. Asking why you're in Hell, and then nodding off if you start rambling too much. This has now become a nap date. Get those pillows ready! (I wish his info was out already so I could do this better lol)
Adrealphus: A date? He's so surprised and more than happy to go on one with you. You link arms, visit an area that doesn't require being around too many people, and describe the landscapes to him. Add on a shoulder massage and peppered kisses on the nape of his neck and it's a perfect end to the date! He loves the stimulation.
Bathin: The best date for this quiet devil is a bookstore/coffee/museum. He may or may not hold your hand during depending on his mood, but he does request to stop by Avisos so he can see his friend Stolas. While in Avisos there's a pit stop at a cafe during the daytime the only time it's not surrounded in chaos.
Guison: Oh boy, get ready to stay in for the night. Your best bet with a date with this man is solving problems and doing a quiz night with various snacks and drinks. It's mundane but he loves it, bonus points if you have any strategy board games to play.
Tumblr media
(a little spicy tho due to the nature of this country) Asmodeus: Pure speculation here, but your date is pretty wild. It started with a nice stroll in the park and ended with your shirt going missing and the last five hours a blur as you're in his arms waking up in a random bed. Hey from the hickie you have on your neck, I assume it went well.
Phenix: Oh honey, you two didn't even make it out of the door before he was rolling around and orgasming over your outfit. It wasn't even revealing it just looks so good on you. Yup gotta take it off now, he's feinin' for you.
Dantalian: Well, he's just a simple devil with simple needs, whisking you up the heaven to see how long it takes before someone notices you two are up there and now someone has to come get you two. It was a nice thrilling date though, cause he made out with you in front of everyone.
Ronove: The two of you stay at his place and he shows you his collections of...things if you don't mind. He wants to paint your nails, and his takes off his mask for you as long as you promise not to take a photo or tell anyone. Long convos about little to nothing to...oh wait yup those are his fingers...in your [redacted] this date has escalated.
Tumblr media
Michael: Well, you know one thing is for certain, and that's he's not having the date happen in heaven and only because everyone annoys him. So you offer to go to a place of his choosing. He doesn't eat much, so the two of you are just traveling place to place, hearing him vent, and if you're lucky he may want to hold your hand or you may see him smile.
Gabriel: You're going to laugh but his ideal date is church, bible study, a retreat, or a mission trip. Anything that involves serving God and showing your love for him to do his work is a great time for Gabriel. Not religious? Don't worry, you can pray together in his room. That counts as a date. Eventually, you'll see the light.
Raphael: Oh he's dragging you wherever he wants for a date. He wants to get out of heaven and away from his brothers so much that he's practically begging you. A BBQ place to eat will suffice followed by possibly punishing some sinners but maybe that can hold off for a moment. He's holding your hand during. You aren't going too far either....he'd even follow you to the bathroom.
Tumblr media
BONUS, date with-
Minhyeok
Finally, he's been waiting for the moment to ask you out and have a good time together. Now that you're back from Hell, for the time being, he's got an entire day planned out. Takes you to your favorite restaurant, you catch a movie together, go shopping and buy matching keychains or anything, even phone charms. And finally, today is a special day, he hired someone to fire off fireworks to ask you to officially be his partner. How could you say no? (well...you may have to if you're still attached to your devil(s) maybe he's just doomed to wait for you forever?)

Calling Audibles
Pairing: Joe Burrow x Reader
Warnings: 18+ / Smut
Description: Going back in time several weeks here. The Bengals have started the 2022 season 0-2. This fic happens in the lead up to week 3.
------------------
You raise your eyebrows as Joe pushes his dinner plate back without finishing every last bite like he usually does. "Not what you wanted?" you ask, giving him a worried look as he heaves a sigh. "It was delicious, babe," he says, his tired smile breaking your heart a little. "I just don't have much of an appetite tonight."
"You need to eat, Joe. You're still underweight." You stand up to take your dinner plates to the sink while he watches you with a bemused look. "You gave me a huge serving of food and I ate like 90% of it. Stop acting like I ate a slice of bread and a sip of water."
"Yes, sir," you chuckle, raising your eyes just in time to catch Joe giving you a heated look that sends a pulse of arousal to all the right places; you hold his gaze for several seconds before he breaks eye contact. "I, uhhh, need to watch a little more film tonight," he mumbles, dropping his gaze and picking at a thumbnail while bouncing one leg in agitation. You're glad he's not looking at you because disappointment is written all over your face; you try to keep your tone bland as you answer. "You've moved on to film for next week, right?"
"Not yet," he mutters, his nail picking and leg bouncing approaching supersonic levels. You shake your head as you finish loading the dishwasher. "You've got the film from the last two games memorized by now. You need to give yourself a break."
"I feel like I'm on the cusp of something," he argues. "On the cusp of full-blown masochism," you retort. "I hear you rewinding and watching the interceptions and sacks over and over. You know exactly why those things happened, no need to keep picking those scabs." He shakes his head in disagreement as you continue. "Those two games were basically your preseason; you were nowhere near 100% physically …"
"Those are just excuses," he interrupts, his jawline flexing as he grits his teeth.
Well shit, you think to yourself. Guess it's gonna be another lonely night; you spin around and grab a bottle of blush wine out of the fridge and pour a hearty goblet full. You'd been trying to save most of your alcohol calories for game days but fuck it. Desperate times called for desperate measures. You take a gulp of wine while trying to think of the right thing to say. "Facts are not excuses, Joe. Facts are facts."
He gives a dismissive shrug that tips your mood from sympathetic to aggravated. "Tell me how I'm wrong?" you challenge. He rolls his eyes before slouching farther down in his chair and dropping his gaze to his feet. You take another swig of wine then bite the inside of your cheek to keep from saying something you might regret. Losing had always been hard for Joe; he had a whole process he had to go through and there was no rushing it.
You take in his defeated body language for a bit before closing the distance between you. "You're being too hard on yourself," you soothe, tipping his chin up to brush your lips over his; you cup his face in your hands and give him a lingering kiss before looking into his eyes. "It's a long season. You can't dwell on these early losses."
"I'm already over the losses," he argues. You give him a 'boy please' look and he chuckles. "Okay, I'm mostly over the losses. I just feel like I'm on the brink of a breakthrough."
"Okay," you sigh, running your hands over the soft scruff that will definitely be gone before the upcoming Jets game on Sunday. No way is this man keeping 0-2 scruff! You give him another kiss before nodding toward the kitchen. "I made pumpkin pie bars for dessert."
"You did?" he grins. "I thought I smelled pumpkin pie earlier, but I was too distracted to really notice."
"You want one?"
He chews on his full bottom lip for a bit while pondering your question. "I'm kind of full right now. Maybe later?"
"Sure." You try to hide the fact that you're more than a little worried he just turned down his favorite dessert.
"Thanks for making my fav dessert, babe. You're so good to me," he says, standing up to wrap you in a warm hug. "I'm sorry I'm being difficult."
"You're not being difficult. Go handle your business." You give him a playful swat on the ass as he turns to jog up the stairs to his office.
You shake your head as he disappears from view. He'd slowly but surely been gaining back the 20+ pounds he lost during his ruptured appendix situation, but the last couple weeks seemed to send him right back into 'too distracted to eat' mode; that did not bode well for a man who was already underweight by his standards.
You take another gulp of wine and roll your shoulders to relieve some tension. Unfortunately, the 'too distracted' mode had carried over into other areas as well. It had been several days since y'all had had sex and, even though you were understanding, you were more than a little frustrated. You knew he felt like shit, both mentally and physically; starting the season 0-2 and being sacked 13 times while not completely healthy was a recipe for disaster, but you weren't used to going this long without him being all over you. You knew if you initiated he'd be down, but you were feeling weirdly self-conscious about it. Even when his knee was completely mangled, he'd tried to get in your panties anytime you were within arm's reach. "Something's different," you whisper to yourself, not really letting your mind go there before shaking off the negative feelings. "Don't overthink it."
You finish up some chores then scroll your phone for a bit before going upstairs. You walk down the hallway toward his office, stopping just outside the half-open door to gauge his mood. You notice he's moved on to watching film of next week's opponent; you smile to yourself before knocking lightly. "Come in," he calls, throwing you a grin over his shoulder as you walk in the room. "I talked to Coach earlier. He sent some extra film of ways we can try to beat Cover 2. I'm almost done though."
You watch his long, limber fingers manipulate the touchpad as he rewinds a play and a sizzle of heat rushes through you. You walk up behind his desk chair and place your hands on his shoulders, giving him a massage while he continues watching film. "That feels good," he groans, leaning his head to the side to give you better access to his throwing shoulder. "Oh yeah, right there," he breathes, hissing as you grind your fingers deep into his sore muscles. The film continues to play but his attention is definitely elsewhere. He fists both hands in his slinky black shorts and slides them up, exposing a delicious amount of muscular thighs. Your mouth literally waters at the sight.
Just before you have a chance to spin his desk chair around and get on your knees for him, his phone rings startling both of you. "Oh shit, that's probably Coach," he grumbles, reaching a long arm out to grab the phone; he sighs as he squints at the display. "Yep." He sits more upright before taking the call. "Hey Coach," he croaks, giving you an adorable grimace as he clears his throat and listens intently. "No problem, I was just watching film … yeah … for sure … I agree we should try that." He nods his head as he continues. "Yeah, quick slants to move the chains, but we gotta get the run going too." He makes a sheepish face at you before turning his attention back to the phone call. "If they're ever dumb enough to play Chase straight up, I'm going to him deep. Doesn't matter what the actual call is, I'll audible the shit out of it. If pass pro holds up that's always a money shot."
"I'm gonna go take a shower," you whisper, smiling when Joe gives you a thumbs up; you walk out of his office leaving him to talk X's and O's with Coach Taylor.
You turn the shower on to heat up and strip naked before twisting your long hair into a high bun to keep it dry. You step into the shower and reach for your body wash, lathering up while thinking of Joe; he was truly a franchise quarterback for the Bengals and they wanted his input on almost every aspect of the team: draft picks, free agents, indoor practice facilities, off-season work-out regimens, offensive schemes, etc. They'd given him the key to the city but that came with a lot of responsibilities. The good news was he was definitely up to the challenge; the bad news was it ate up a lot of physical and mental bandwidth and sometimes you were left wanting a little more of his attention.
You rinse off and step out of the shower, drying off quickly then stepping into a pair of tiny panties and a slinky tank top. Joe walks into the bathroom just as you finish brushing your teeth. "Did y'all figure some stuff out?" you ask. "Yeah." He yawns as he walks up behind you, pressing a kiss on your neck before meeting your eyes in the mirror. "We're gonna brainstorm a bit more in our morning meeting, then hopefully install a new scheme in afternoon practice."
"That sounds promising," you say, giving him a smile. "Fingers crossed," he mumbles, yawning again before dropping another kiss on your neck. He walks to the shower, turns it on then shucks his clothes off, dropping them in the hamper before stepping into the steaming shower; he groans low in his throat as the hot water hits his aching muscles and you feel a jolt of arousal shoot through you. You lean toward the mirror and pretend to inspect your face, but you're really covertly eyeballing his reflection in the mirror, musing to yourself that the clear glass shower enclosure had been a solid choice when y'all had renovated the house. Joe pivots toward you to rinse off and you quickly avert your eyes; you know he's way too tired for sex and you don't want him to feel obligated if he catches you leering. You dab on some eye cream then head into the bedroom, heaving a sigh of frustration as you slide between the cool, clean sheets.
You close your eyes and think back over the past several months. -- The entire off-season had been intense for Joe. The first few weeks were just a blur of disappointment and angst after the Super Bowl loss. It didn't help that he had to rehab the knee he sprained in the Super Bowl and finally get the pinky finger fixed that he dislocated in week 13. Once things settled down though he really seemed to get in a groove.
You smile to yourself as you think about his excitement at the team signing four new offensive linemen -- three veteran free agents and one promising rookie. Y'all had hosted a few dinner parties to get to know the new guys, and you had to admit, the chemistry was there right from the start. Dinner conversations were centered on how the improved o-line was going to open up a whole new level of play calling, and all the guys seemed like they were ready to run through a brick wall to ensure success.
It was Joe's first normal off-season in the NFL, and he really tried to wring every last bit of energy out of his body in the lead up to training camp. All the extra work had him looking like sex on legs even more than usual, and you'd spent an obscene amount of time running your fingers and tongue over the bulging muscles in his arms, chest and thighs, leaving love bites in the most sensitive places. The last couple weeks before training camp he was literally vibrating with anticipation for the upcoming season. Everything was going great until it wasn't.
The ruptured appendix caught everybody by surprise. What seemed like a routine surgery became super scary due to the threat of sepsis. Joe was pumped full of high-powered antibiotics for about a week after surgery to try and stave off infection. The fact that he had an open appendectomy instead of laparoscopic meant the healing time was much longer.
You shake your head when you think about how hard he'd pushed himself to be ready for week 1 - just 6.5 weeks after surgery. He'd put a decent amount of weight back on by then, but he was still down a good 10-15 pounds from where he wanted to be, and his stamina and core strength were not up to his usual standards. He was getting better every day though, and you were determined to keep stuffing food in him to give him a little more cushion against those damn sacks and punishing hits he took in every game.
The sound of the shower turning off pulls you back into the moment; even though he was down a few pounds he was still the most gorgeous man you'd ever seen so you let your mind wander, imagining him glistening wet as he steps out and grabs his towel. "Damn," you whisper to yourself, squeezing your legs together to try and stop the gush of wetness that always happens when you think naughty thoughts about your man.
You turn off the bedside lamp just as Joe walks into the bedroom so he doesn't notice your flushed face; he slides into bed and reaches over to give you a goodnight kiss. "Night, babe," he whispers, kissing you one more time before rolling over. "Night," you whisper back, biting the inside of your cheek to try and distract yourself from the throbbing ache between your thighs. Just go to sleep, you think. You know he's gonna bang you harder than a screen door in a hurricane once he gets past this. Have a little self control!
Fifteen minutes later you admit defeat. Fuck it, you think. I'll handle it myself. You lay still listening for Joe's breathing to even out; after what seems like ages, he gives a barely audible snore and you breathe a sigh of relief. You slide a hand into your panties and rub your clit with slow, deliberate circles, trying hard to suppress any heavy breathing or movement as you get into a steady rhythm. You're about 2/3 of the way to bliss when you hear Joe say your name; you immediately go completely still hoping you imagined it.
"Babe?" Joe whispers, scooting closer to you as you stealthily ease your hand out of your panties and try to even out your breathing.
"Yeah?" you whisper back.
"Are you playing with yourself?"
"Maybe."
Joe chuckles low in his throat and closes the distance between you, rolling onto his side to look down at you in the faint glow of the hallway light. "Any reason I wasn't invited to the party?" You take a deep breath and let it out slowly, willing your pulse rate to return to normal before you answer. "Because I know you're dead tired." You squirm a bit as Joe's hand inches up your thigh toward your aching core. "I didn't mean to wake you up," you say breathlessly. "Just go back to sleep. I can handle this." You bite your lower lip as Joe slides a hand inside your panties. "I'm calling an audible, baby girl," he purrs, circling a finger over your clit a few times before skimming down a little farther. "So wet," he groans."
"You don't have to. I know you're tired," you protest, moaning as he continues to tease you. "I'm never too tired for this. Besides, you'll cum much harder if I do it," he says matter-of-factly, knowing it's the absolute truth. "Let me make you feel good." He nips your earlobe with his teeth while sliding one long finger inside your slick heat. All thoughts of protesting vanish when he adds a second finger deep inside you while grinding his thumb against your clit, lightly at first then adding pressure as you get closer to the edge. He leans down and kisses a trail up your neck, his soft scruff tickling you in all the right places.
Just before your climax hits, he slows down and withdraws his fingers just enough to pull you back from the edge. "I was so close," you whine. "I know," he teases, his hot breath in your ear sending a shiver of desire down your spine. "But I'm not done playing with you yet."
He takes his sweet time working you back up, whispering filthy encouragement in your ear while you writhe beneath him. You're literally light-headed with desire as the tension builds inside you again; you reach down and grab his forearm to hold him steady. "Just like that," you breathe. "Don't stop!" The feel of his forearm muscles flexing as he curls his fingers inside you is the catalyst that sets you off. You gasp his name as your climax hits, holding onto his arm like an anchor as your head spins and your walls clench hard around his fingers; he continues to caress your G-spot, catching your whimpers in his mouth as you ride out the intense orgasm.
Once you finally catch your breath, you realize his very prominent erection is grinding against your hip. You reach down and give him a gentle squeeze. "You too tired for me to handle this?"
"Hell no," he groans, quickly stripping his underwear off. He watches you, eyes heavy-lidded with arousal, as you settle between his legs. You press wet kisses up the long length of his thighs as you crawl upward, maintaining eye contact with him as you worship his body with your lips and tongue. When you reach the juncture of his thighs you lightly suck his balls, smiling when your actions draw a low purr of approval from him.
"You like that?" you ask, continuing to tease him. "You know I love it," he growls, "but if you don't stop I'm gonna shoot before you get my cock in your mouth."
"Wouldn't want that," you breathe. You think about teasing him -- edging him until he begs for release -- but you know he's too tired for that tonight. Instead, you lock eyes with him and run your tongue up and down his hard length, flicking your tongue over the sweet spot on the underside just the way he likes until his eyes slide closed and his head drops back on his pillow. He fists a hand in your long hair and lets out a throaty groan when you take him deep. "I'm not gonna last long," he whispers, his hips grinding up into each thrust. You slide both hands up his chest and tease his nipples as you continue to deep-throat him, humming low in your throat to add extra sensation as his thrusts get more erratic. "Jesus," he hisses, giving one final thrust before gracing your throat with a rapid-fire climax.
For several minutes, the only sound in the room is heavy breathing coming from both of you. Once you catch your breath, you run your gaze over Joe's body, smiling at how thoroughly spent he looks. He opens his eyes and sees you smiling.
"What are you smiling about?" he rasps.
"Just admiring you. You're ridiculously beautiful."
"Except for this," he says, running his fingers over his appendectomy scar. "Guess I can't pose naked now," he teases.
"Honey, if you posed naked nobody would even notice that small scar. There are waaay more interesting things to ogle on your gorgeous body."
"You always know just what to say to make me feel better."
Y'all are quiet for a minute before he sits up and gives you an enigmatic look; he clears his throat before speaking. "I thought you already knew this but let me say it again -- 99% of the time I'm not too tired for sex. I wish you would've told me you wanted it. I thought you weren't attracted to me anymore."
You cackle at the absurdity before realizing his face is dead serious. "You better be kidding, Joseph Lee. It's taken all of my willpower not to jump you on a daily basis once you healed up from surgery. Not to mention, the only time we've had sex these last couple weeks was when I initiated it. If you wanted it more why didn't you do something?"
"I wanted to." He shrugs. "I wanted to just lose myself in you, but …"
"But what?"
"I played horrible, especially against Pittsburgh; I didn't want a pity fuck," he mumbles.
Your mouth drops open for a second at the sheer ridiculousness. "Pity fuck? Are you for real? 'Cause if so that's the dumbest shit you've ever said."
"Sorry."
"Sorry my ass! Look at me!" You wait for him to meet your eyes before continuing. "We've known each other way too long for you to truly think that. You could lose every game for the rest of your career, and I'd still want you more than I want air in my lungs, you know that right?"
He makes a face. "But I was so bad. Embarrassingly bad."
You take a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I know winning is the only thing you'll accept for yourself, but don't project that on me. I want you to win because it makes you happy, but I don't think any less of you when you lose."
"The stakes seem so much higher this year though. The Super Bowl appearance raised expectations in a huge way."
"Not for me," you argue.
He holds your gaze for several seconds, taking in the stubborn look on your face before dropping his eyes. "You're right," he mutters. "I was stupid to think that."
"You're not stupid. You're just human. I definitely need to communicate better though so you won't have these doubts."
"No!" his head snaps up. "This is not your fault. I was feeling sorry for myself and let it spiral too much." You open your mouth to argue but he forges ahead. "You wanted me when I was just a no-name, chubby-cheeked, transfer quarterback who came to LSU because OSU wouldn't play me and Nebraska didn't want me." He shrugs. "It was stupid of me to think a couple of shitty games would change your mind."
"Yeah, that was pretty stupid," you agree, giggling when he gives you a told-you-so look. "Speaking of stupid," you continue. "Those schools were dumb as shit for not wanting you, but LSU was your destiny. You made history there; you and that whole team will always be legends."
"LSU was my destiny because it's where I met you. Can't imagine my life without you."
"You trying to make me cry?" you whisper, swallowing hard as a couple of tears spill out of your eyes.
He leans forward, kissing the hot, salty tears off of your cheeks. "Are they happy tears?" he asks. "Yes," you sigh, collapsing against him as he lays down and pulls you down with him, gently cradling your head against his chest.
"I think we're both pretty tired right now," he soothes. "Let's just get some rest."
--------------------
You come awake slowly, lulled by the heat radiating off of Joe as you lie wrapped in his arms. You turn your head and look at the clock on the bedside table -- 3:33 a.m.
"Hey," Joe mumbles, his deep voice making you jump.
"Oh! You startled me!" you laugh. "How long have you been awake?"
"About 30 minutes. Can't sleep 'cause my mind is racing."
"What are you thinking about?" you ask, pushing up into a sitting position so you can see his face.
"All sorts of shit."
"Like what?"
"Like … you … football … that supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy."
"You're such a goober," you giggle.
"Love you too, babe."
You lean down and plant a kiss on his pretty lips. "Tell me more about your football musings."
"I think I'm gonna take the o-line to Jeff Ruby's this Friday for a nice steak dinner. The media and fans are shitting all over them; they deserve a little treat."
"That's a great idea. Just don't sneak in like you normally do. Make sure y'all come in the front door together so everyone can see you."
He raises an eyebrow. "You calling an audible?" he asks.
"Yep! Seems to be the theme tonight." You laugh as he narrows his eyes at you. "Hear me out; a public display of confidence is just what they need right now. Lets everyone know you've got their back."
"That's … actually a great idea," he concedes.
After talking for a few more minutes, Joe's stomach growls loudly and you both laugh.
"Sounds like you need a snack," you chuckle, rubbing a hand over Joe's flat stomach.
"Are you trying to fatten me up?"
"Hell yeah. You need to gain at least 10 more pounds. You don't even have an inch to pinch," you tease, playfully grabbing at his waist.
"I've got way more than an inch to pinch," he gives you a cocky smirk. "You're just grabbing in the wrong place."
"Easy there, hot stuff. Pretty sure you're too tired for round two."
"I'm actually feeling good. I think if I have a pumpkin pie bar I'll be ready to go." He gives you a dirty wink. "You better get you a snack, too. You're def gonna need the energy."
"Oh really? What do you have in mind?"
"Something rough and raunchy. You okay with that?"
You hop off the bed and match his dirty wink with one of your own. "I'm always okay with that. Hang tight while I go get our snacks."
You're halfway to the door when his voice stops you. "Babe?"
You spin around and raise an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"Make it 2 pumpkin pie bars for me." He pats his belly. "I suddenly have a huge appetite."
"You got it," you say, flashing him a grin before heading for the door.
"He's gonna be just fine," you whisper to yourself, humming "Juicy" by Doja under your breath as you jog down the stairs to the kitchen.

Diavolo x fem! s/o x Lucifer threesome
Tumblr media

femreader, drunk sex, oral (giving/receiving), teasing, begging, anal fingering (receiving), crempie, rough sex, double penetration;; 2474 words;;
NSFW UNDER THE CUT
;MINORS DNI;
How did you even was able to turn everything this way..?
Because Lucifer is kinda possessive. He is an avatar of pride after all and, despite his respect for his boss, it was kinda hard for him to think about you talking with Diavolo, let alone share you with the young Lord... But they said you just should fight fire with fire, aren't they?
So in one day, when you and Lucifer decided to pay a visit to Dia, just a small innocent visit, you decided to act. And soon instead of tea Barbatos served you three expensive Demonus, as you kept raising toast and having fun. Well, maybe the cunning servant quickly realized what you were planning to do, as he kept bringing more bottles of strong hellish wines.
And of course both of your targets got too much Demonus. As this devilish alcohol does not affect humans, it was kinda amusing to watch these two get drunk..
...well, before they both, without even talking properly about this to each other, lead you into Lord's bedroom.
"Don't worry that much, s/o.." - Dia mumble, trying to make his casual wide smile, yet it turns out more awkward and weak as he already can feel his dick twitching inside pants. Maybe he never admits it, yet he does have this type of fantasy with you and Luci before.
"Despite you having such a surprising look, I totally can tell you expected something like this, huh..?" - a low chuckle escaped Lucifer's mouth as he tried to unbutton his uniform.
Well.. otherwise you wouldn't encourage them to drink after drink, would you? So maybe he does have a point.. But who cares, if both demons are already bold enough to open their souls and show their deepest desires, as now, after they quench their thirst with infernal wine, hunger awoke in their bodies..
But before.. some long, steady foreplay as you sit on Lucifer's laps, back pressed to his chest. Warmth of his body makes you tingle, as he starts covering your whole neck and shoulders in kisses, bites and hickeys (he still wants to mark his territory).. While Dia's hands start caressing your body, slowly get down and remove the last pieces of your clothes, throwing away your skirt and panties. He indeed was kinda impatient, wanting nothing but to see your beautiful form in front of him, to taste his precious human.
"Such a beautiful view and just for me?" - he chuckled, stroking your trembling hips. Dia licks his lips, as his cloudy eyes admire your cunt, a storm of thoughts about all different things he can do now hits his mind and he looks up at you with a smug smirk.
..seeing the Demon Lord himself sitting here, between your thighs, with such a face was something and you can't help but whine, spreading your legs a little.
"Oh? It looks like our little doll is already so impatient.." - Lucifer smirks, sending shivers down your spine as his arms quickly caress you too, grasping on boobs, tickling waist, before getting to your heated core. Another whimper breaks from your mouth as you try to squirm a little.. But even though absolutely drunk, Dia was surprisingly strong, so he immediately catches your legs and holds them in place while Lucifer slowly spreads your pussy lips, revealing your already quite wet folds and pulsing clit to their hungry gazes..
"I think we shouldn't waste time, don't you think?" - Lucifer cooed, and it was kinda strange to see him being in charge of his boss, yet it looks like Diavolo doesn't mind at all, too busy admiring your naked body. And such phrase.. that was enough for him to go feral. Fast, hungry licks from the start as he makes your whole body shake from such intensive thrusts of his hot tongue. All you were able to do it's just moan, gripping Luci's hand. All thoughts fade away and your mind is absolutely blank, your whole body concentrated on your pulsing cunt. Dia was sloppy yet so fast and passionate, sucking your clit with such strength like all his life depends on it.. And Lucifer's hands on your breast as he keeps squeezing sensitive nipples between fingers doesn't help, but makes you even more aroused. All his touches were more accurate, because while Dia was completely lost in his urge to gobble you up hungrily, to savor every last drop of your juices, Luci was still in mind and wanted to tease you a little, to hear more of your shameful moans.. You can whine and whimper as much as you want, begging him to stop playing with your breast, he will not stop. After all, due to how you arch your back, moaning loud, you do enjoy such attention from them both, do you?
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
..Just how much time passes? You don't know, as you get lost in pleasure, all the muscles tensed up as you feel another knot forming at the bottom of your stomach. Maybe it was your third orgasm? You can't clearly tell as Diavolo didn't stop even for a second, gladly sucking all your cum and keep abusing your folds more and more, as he just can't get enough.
"Mm? Are you close again?" - Luci cooed right in your ear, noticing how your breath became rapid and your hips moved in one rhythm with the aggressive fast thrust of Dia's tongue. While he's lick deep inside you, tight grip on your thighs so you wouldn't squirm too much, Luci also helps you reach the edge, squeezing, pushing and teasing your throbbing clit.
He can see your blushing face, as you bite your lip, trying to muffle such beautiful sounds, as you shut your eyes, oversensitive now with all these touches… You suddenly arch your back, freezing in place for a moment, and then a wave of goosebumps rush over you body, engulfing you in pleasure. Already weak voice get even more high pitched as you moan loudly, pushing your hips to Dia face. Needless to say that he keeps being glued to your pussy, enjoying the warmth of your folds..
Every small detail gets straight to both demons' memories, and Luci will totally tease you about that after.
But right now, when you are finally prepared well for something more, all that they want is to see more.. Your sweet taste and desperate whines had no more than whetted their appetite.
"Darling, please.." - Dia finally pulls away, looking at you with deep, hungry eyes, such a possessive gaze that makes you shiver. - "I can't take it any more..I need to feel you.."
That's when the real Lord's side, not that goofy and charming one, wakes up. As now all he wants is to drown in your body, to get as closer as he always wishes..
"Then i think it's time for our birdie to also work with her mouth, hm?" - Lucifer chuckles, and moves a little.
Without any words, they quickly change positions, laying you in bed on your stomach. Now, when you faced Lucifer, more exactly his hips, you noticed a hard bulge in his pants that was pushing your back all this time, making you wonder about how his dick looks.. Well now you also have the opportunity to taste it.
Then you suddenly gasp, feeling Dia's arms on your hips, grasping soft skin with greed. He already left so many bruises and hickeys on your inner thighs, yet now decided to mark your hips too.
With trembling hands, you slowly unzip Luci's pants, revealing a long cock in front of you, the tip of his head already in pre-cum. He chuckles, noticing how your eyes widened a little and patted your head.
"What's wrong? Afraid you can't take it?"
You just scoff and lick your lips, first just touching him with your arms, fingertips gently go over his whole length, low groans of prideful demon telling you how much he likes it, as grip on your hair gets a little stronger. While Dia finally got rid of his pants too, hands quickly wrapped around your ass again. Despite his whole body was aching for finally just fuck you, he still decided to prolong small foreplay, caressing your wet folds with his dick, soaking in your juices and mixing them with his precum.
"Mm.. Dia, please.." - you can't help but mumble, tickling the sensitive skin of Luci's dick with your hot breath, as your cunt was also aching for some wild, fast pounding. Dia's tongue was good, but you wanted to feel yourself full and stretched with something bigger..
You and him groan breathless at the same time as his head finally pushes into your walls, and he immediately thrust fully inside you, pressing your trembling hips to his. For a moment you both froze, hitted with pleasure, all your sensation concentrated in your pussy as you kept clenching around him, sinking his hot cock deeper and deeper. Too carried away, your grasp on the base of Lucifer's dick, mewling and whimpering. Well, maybe you do look cute with such a pathetic face but demon groans, getting impatient. With his hand on your hair he pushes your head closer to his pulsing glans, dominating sharp gaze tells you everything better than any words.
So you open your lips a little, placing a passionate kiss on the tip of his dick, slowly getting down and peppering his whole length with kisses. You just wanted to tease him too, and it looked like Luci kinda liked it, watching as you tried so hard to amuse him.
Yet it was kinda hard to concentrate when Dia started finally moving, stretching you open wide with his cock, as almost immediately he started with a fast pace, too hungry for any slow gentle sex right now. And it was just what you needed, as you lifted your hips and spread your legs wider, enjoying how his dick grinding against your walls. His hands keep stroking your cheeks and slowly his fingertips get closer to your asshole, tickling tight muscles.
"Don't you worry, s/o.." - Dia can't help but let out a low chuckle, noticing as you turn to him a little confused. - "I should prepare you for the next round too, don't you think..?"
Next round? Tingles run down your spine right to your heated core as you just thought about what would wait for you tonight..
"Well, if she would deserve this second round.." - Lucifer interrupts your thoughts, smirking. - "You have some work to do here.."
Nodding, you lick his whole length and finally take him in your mouth and small vibrations tickle him as you keep moaning even with dick in your mouth. Dia just was too good, hitting your g spot with every thrust, whimpering and mumbling about how tight you are around his cock. It feels like your clenching walls are almost melting him in its warmth, sending him over the edge as he gets faster. And no, he did not plan to cum anytime soon, as demon was waiting too long to finally have a taste of your passion. Even drugged by your body, to all this delight he finally feels, Dia can last for a long time, wishing to please you as much as he can.
While Luci wanted you to please him. And you did a good job, sucking him so obediently as he leads you with his arm, setting a right pace. Your hot tongue around his cock makes him bite his lips as this demon also starts getting more local. Just a few minutes and you find all his soft places, moaning louder on purpose just to hear as low groans break from his chest.
Now the whole room was filled with the whimpers and groans of you three, as soonly you were able to catch up with Dia's pace, moving your lips around dick in your mouth with the same rhythm.
You feel as Luci's dick begins to swell and twitch in your mouth as he leaned back against the pillows, his breathing began to falter, and his fingers tightened on the back of your head. All his movements were kinda sloppy now, as he slowly got closer and closer, melting in your hot wet mouth.
"Fuck.. S/o.. Keep your pretty mouth like that, and look me right in the eyes, I want to see your face when you would savor my semen.."
While Dia's movements become more ragged as he roughly fuck you. He lost all his sanity, just grasping on your hips with a shaky hand, while another one kept playing with your anus, fingers pushing tight walls here too. He pounds you faster and faster, stretching your clenching pussy with force, his dick pulsing more and more.
"S/o.. Please.. Let me cum inside.. Let me make you mine.."
It looks like you three were almost on edge, the room was filled with moans and wet sounds of body slapping to each other.
Three bodies reach the climax and two pairs of arms grasp your body tightly, as two men call your name, lost in their orgasm. You were overflowing with mind shattering pleasure, if they hadn't held you with all their strength you would already collapse on bed, legs too weak now... Your pussy clenched around Dia even harder as his thick cum filled your hot walls. He keeps with fast pace for a little before eventually slowing down, sloppy thrusting in you, spreading last drops of his semen in your cunt.
Same big shoot of cum hit your throat as Luci push your head, almost face fucking you. His deep satisfied groan makes you tingle, as you keep licking his dick, almost cleaning it from all sperm, mixing it with your saliva.
For a few moments you all just breathe heavily, trying to calm down. Of course you notice Luci's playful cunning gaze and needy strokes of Dia's hands on your ass..
They both change their position again, carrying your weak trembling body. And even as you feel absolutely drained, as soon as you notice that their dick still hard and ready for more, your pussy throb, asking for more too..
You lean back to Dia's big chest as he holds your thighs. Luci stands in front of you, and now you are sandwiched between them too, their hot bodies send shivers down your spine.
"So, darling, what do you think? Can't take us both..?" - Luci purr, and you felt as two pulsing dicks pressing to your clenching in anticipation holes.
That was not the end. Just very very begging.. begging of long night with two men who will not let you go so easily now, fucking you until any thoughts would disappear from your pretty head, and only their names would be aching in your mind now..

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got a bunch of questions concerning this AU Sukuna of mine. They inspired a lot of thoughts.
Please remember that my view is just my own subjective opinion. It is clouded by my unhealthy affection towards him, and it is developed based on my own bias and unprofessional analysis of him.
Let me go one by one.
1) Occupation
He is either a mafia boss or just a good old CEO. In my opinion, one does not need to be in the underworld to be the devil he is. (I actually find it attractive if somebody "makes it" in legal ways. Seems much harder.)
On the other hand, I see parallels between yakuza and the historical/mythical figure of Ryomen Sukuna (being a folk hero and anti-government), so I think being an oyabun kinda suits him (or maybe someone lower-ranked, he seems a bit young, but who knows when it comes to him...)
Note: yes I'm aware that Gege specified that he is not identical to the mythical figure, but those stories line up with the background I imagine for him, the background that contributed to him turning out like this. That is an entirely different analysis though...
2) His thoughts? Hobbies?
He probably suffers/suffered from every drawback of a dysfunctional family or growing up in an orphanage, including but not exclusive to trust issues, attachment issues and self-control issues (alcohol, drug, women), etc. However, he got these setbacks under his control. He had nothing so he wants and gets everything, he had no one so now he wants and gets everyone but never keeps anyone close by for too long (unless they are useful in a professional environment).
He is a very active and competitive person. He is a workaholic, he made it to the top at a relatively young age. He ruthlessly used everything and everyone at his disposal and reached all of his goals. He ended up lonely at the top, which, on one hand, is the essence of his nature and source of his ego and pride, and it is also how he feels comfortable, utterly detached from the good will of anyone. On the other hand, it's probably very lonely. Of course he also rationalised this and swept it under the rug. It turned him bitter, quite a nihilist and even more selfish. He very likely prioritises low-effort relationships in his personal life, unwilling to create attachment to anything other than himself.
His hobbies may include
culinary pleasures (as canon)
mastering new skills, such as languages, shooting, cooking, etc
he enjoys pushing his own boundaries in gym/sport (probably everything else too)
he also enjoys fine and expensive things in life, like cigars, wine, etc
He needs constant mental stimulation to stay content.
3) Deformities
Option A:
He is just a human. He has only 4 limbs. He lost his right eye (and his right cheek?) in a fight or accident.
Option B:
Reincarnated demon lord fitting into society. I think he can morph his own body at will. He is hiding his deformed face that is also a source of some secret abilities.
4) His type?
If the question concerns his type in partners...
Option 1: Toys.
Anything goes. I think he likes people he can get rid of without much problem. Probably someone who doesn't need too much mental investment. Just make them have an interesting quirk that piques his curiosity, and easy to deal with. One thing though: I believe he is always 100% honest about his intentions. He never needs to lie and manipulate someone into any kind of relationship with him.
Option 2: Partner.
He probably doesn't believe this person exists, as he is used to being alone and never experienced devotion and care. He automatically treats everyone as a toy, that's all he knows how to do, that is what is comfortable for him.
The problems start when he discovers emotional attachment to somebody. It probably stresses him out greatly, he doesn't know how to deal with it. It infuriates him and it takes a toll on his confidence and usually calm demeanor. Probably to a point till he behaves aggressive even towards the subject of his affection, unintentionally hurting her. It probably takes a lot of patience on both sides to get through this. It's possible he would try to treat her even more harshly than everyone else, to punish her for causing him such misery, hoping that she would abandon him - because he cannot abandon her.
This person is someone who can challenge him mentally. Somebody who is not identical to him, but he sees her as his equal, somebody who shares similar views and values but can broaden his horizons. She is intelligent, a free spirit willing to obey only him, mysterious but also honest, reserved and opens up only to him to reveal an endless treasury of new experiences. She is somebody who can challenge his authority and forces him to step up his game, but is also able to admit defeat and happy to submit. Power play is fine, but at the end of the day, it's him on top, always. Most importantly though, she is loyal and naturally reciprocates his efforts (if they ever reach that stage).
As far as physical traits go... (...was this what you really wanted to know and I was babbling about her character?)
I think he likes it when a woman takes care of herself, but doesn't like them "fake". I also think he likes long hair and feminine characteristics (typical beauty standards of the Heian period). I think he admires natural beauty and can be fascinated by many different features though.
5) Colors
complexion: slightly darker (not super fair like Gojo's skintone) Google says it's "medium beige" but it sounds weird, haha
eyes: red
hair: I use a darker shade than the official true form art, resulting in a pale mahogany color
Here you go, @rosemaydone321 ! Sorry, it got long.... Hope this is what you meant with the questions. Thank you!

Till THE DEAD do us part | Chapter 4
Tumblr media
A/N: This story will take place in all the seasons, but it’s not exactly a rewriting cause I’d have to re-watch everything to use the exactly lines of the characters, also I think it’s better if I tell a side story without changing the main facts of the story.
This story has a Female Reader, but I don’t describe her appearance, so anyone can identify with her.
Chapter 3 Chapter 5
Chapter 4: Pinky Promise
Summary: The group arrived at the CDC and were welcomed by Dr. Jenner, that asked just for blood samples so they could stay there. The group ate better than they have been eating in weeks and also drank a lot. Y/N and Daryl talk about the past while they share a bottle of whiskey and things get just a little bit out of control.
Warnings: swearing, little angsty, fluffy, alcohol consumption, sexual tension (?), a hot kiss 🥵, Minors do not interact. Nothing extremely sexual and detailed, but if disturbs you in any way it’s better not to read. Maybe some characters are ooc, idk 🤷🏼‍♀️
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Grimes!Reader (Rick’s Sister)
Word Count: 2,877
Extra notes: I proofread the text, but English is not my first language, so feel free to correct any mistakes, of course with love. I’m consulting a timeline of everything that happened, but it can happen that I put events out of order, but I don’t think it’ll make much difference in the story. ALSO, I’m very nervous about the path this chapter went so I’d be glad if you told me what you think.
Tumblr media
As soon as the door opened everyone entered, but there was no one. Where were the person that opened the damn door? After some minutes a man appeared, gun on his hand and he just lowered when you proved you offered no danger. His condition to give you shelter, was to take blood samples of all of you to examine. A fair price for a scientist, how could you deny?
After you picked everything you needed from the cars, the man named Jenner, closed the metal doors and you followed him to get your blood samples taken. You were not over joyed to get your blood taken, because normally your veins were pretry dificult to be found and people would end up torturing you with a needle until they found your vein.
“You’ll probably find my vein here.” You said pointing to a place one inch from your elbow. Yeah, your vein was easy found in a very strange place. “My veins are difficult to find, that’s why I’m telling you.” ‘And because torture is not my kind of entertainment’, you thought.
“Don’t worry, I’ll only do it when I’m sure I found it.” He tried to make you calm. And he didn’t lied, he really waited till he found it and then he collected your blood without much trouble or pain.
He took everybody’s sample and then took you to the kitchen. A full supplied kitchen with good food, alcohol, water and all the appropriate devices to prepare anything.
“Glenn, did we die and I didn’t notice? Cause this looks a lot like heaven.” You commented with the young man.
“If we did, I didn’t notice it too.” He replied. God! You didn’t think you would miss so much having a kitchen with all the appliances you were used to.
You prepared the food together and the drinks were served. Everybody was so happy, having a good meal, drinking and chatting. There was a long time you didn’t feel such a light atmosphere. You all joked and smiled, maybe the alcohol was helping a little.
“Hmmm, never thought I’d taste such delicious wine again.” You commented next to your brother.
“Go easy on the alcohol sis.” Rick told you, as if he knew how to drink.
“Shut up Rick, you know I can handle alcohol better than you.” You said making him have a good laughter, in no way you were a better drinker than him. “Hey! Let a woman have her dreams.” Everyone joined Rick on his laughter, brightening the room with joy.
Very reluctantly Lori gave Carl permission to taste a little of wine, and he hated, so she was happy. Glenn was getting drunk for the first time and all of you were encouraging him, even Daryl, which was really funny to see him all lose and even smiling, genuinely and openly smiling. Alcohol was a dangerous thing, but it could also show you things you didn’t know about other people, good and bad. You sneaked some appetizers to Luna, which she gladly took.
When dinner was over Jenner showed you around, there was rooms where all of you could stay, and bathrooms with hot shower. Oh my God, you couldn’t even remember the last time you took a hot bath. You claimed one of the rooms and went directly to the bath.
You took your time in the bath, washed your hair, let the hot water fall against your back and relax your muscles. It was so good, it had been only two months and you already missed this little luxuries from the old world so bad. When you finished drying yourself, you brushed your hair and put some comfortable clothes, your sleeping shorts and a tank top. Then, you missed something important, where was Luna?
You left your room and passed looking on the rooms that had the door open. You saw Carol putting Sophia to sleep and you couldn’t help, but smile. They deserved happiness and you were glad they were safe here, as you were glad you family was here too.
“Carol, did you see Luna? I can’t find her.” You asked her from the door.
“No, I just came from the rec room with the kids and didn’t see her. Maybe she’s with Rick or Shane?” She suggested, you didn’t know. You didn’t want her messing around in an unknown place.
“Ok, thanks. Gonna continuing looking for her. Have a good night Sophia! And you too Carol, rest yourself.”
“Have a good night Y/N/N” they replied.
You continued looking in the rooms that you could see open, but she was nowhere. You saw the door of Daryl’s room half opened and decided to knock, maybe he saw her somewhere.
“Come in” you heard he say, and you were not expecting the scene. He all cleaned up, a bottle of whiskey in his hand, his back on the wall, sitting in the sofa and Luna all over him.
“Am I interrupting something?” You asked playfully, Luna looked at you and swinged her tail, but she didn’t move from where she was.
“Not my fault she likes me better.” He took the bottle to his mouth all cocky.
“Seriously, I’m already thinking about giving you her custody. It’s obvious she doesn’t love me anymore.” You dramatized sitting on the sofa right next to him.
As soon as you touched the couch, she came all your way with her cold nose, and she laid on both your laps. “I think she wants to say that she likes us both.” You stated.
“Want some?” He offered you the bottle of alcohol.
“Is this even a question? Just give me the bottle Dixon.” You take the bottle and take it to your lips, whiskey was not exactly your favorite drink, but having the alcohol in your system was too good. Just not having to worry about being sober and ready to fight at any moment.
You stayed a long time in silence, just passing the bottle around and sipping from the drink. Here it was, that comfortable silence that you used to share and right now you could do it without worrying much. You rested your head back on the wall and looked at his profile, he was handsome and also cute, you felt kind of lucky for being able to take a look at this pretty serious grumpy face everyday.
“What did ya do before all this?” He asked and sipped on the bottle.
“You mean before I became a professional Zombie killer?” You joked, a bitter taste in your mouth having to talk about your failed career. “I was a vet. What about you?”
He looked at Luna and nodded like it made a lot of sense since you had Luna, but in fact anyone could have an animal. “I’d go around with whatever shit Merle was up to. In few words, I was a nobody. I had nothing as cool as you had.”
“Don’t say this. You weren’t a nobody. In fact, when it all happened, I was unemployed. So if you were a nobody, I was just like you.” Your head still resting on the wall, your eyes still on his profile and you thought how could he think so low of himself.
“Ya weren’t nobody, princess.” He turned to look at you and you swear that your heart skipped a bit when you looked in his cute baby blue eyes. “Ya just didn’t have a job.”
“So didn’t you.” He didn’t understand why you’d try to cheer him up and tell him he was more than what he actually was. Since he could remember he knew everyone thought that the Dixon’s were no good. Nobody wanted to be around his brother or him, and it didn’t change at the quarry. And why should it change now? He’d always be what he was, but you seemed to look at him with a whole different look than anybody else and you never told he was no good or a piece of shit… you mostly had good things to tell him, even when he was a dick with you.
“What’s going on in that head of yours, D.?” You looked at him and you almost could see all the gears working in his mind. You still looked in his eyes, both of your heads resting in the wall.
“Ya think I’m better than I am.” He also looked in your eyes and tried to see anything that showed you were fucking with him, but he didn’t. You were like Rick, you had honest eyes and couldn’t hide your emotions at all even if you tried. And at the moment you didn’t have any bad emotion in your face.
You wanted to say that he thought too low of himself, that he was better than he thought. You could see it, but it was not like you were good with words, and in the last 24 hours you got him upset more times than you would like, even if he was the asshole in one of them. Maybe it was the alcohol speaking, but you couldn’t put yourself to look away from his face, and now your eyes wandered all over his face, from his handsome eyes, to his lips, the small freckles under his eyes and the cute mole above his lips… God! You really wanted to kiss him, and your intoxicated brain could not think straight, if you were sober you’d never have the courage you were feeling at this moment.
He was no different from you, not that he had never spent any time admiring your features, he had done it many times. Your beautiful eyes, your nose, your lips and even your jaw. God, if ever existed one, he had thought more than he would like to admit about running his mouth over your jaw, your lips… kiss, lick and even bite your neck. But before, you were never this close to him and he had never got this drunk with you or near you. He had not felt like this before, like if he didn’t touch someone or were close to someone… he wouldn’t be able to breath. He thought it was pathetic, well that was what Merle would say, because feelings was something only pussies did. The alcohol in his body talked stronger than Merle’s voice in his head, and all he could think was that your faces were a few inches from each other and that he could feel your warm whiskey breath and the smell of your clean hair, and when you crashed your lips against his, he wasn’t able to control anymore.
You pressed your lips against his and you didn’t expect he’d kiss you back, you expected him to push you away and tell you to fuck off. But once your lips were on his, he kissed you back. Your hand went to his face and caressed him, while his hand went to the back of your head pulling you closer and you couldn’t help but feel more invested into the kiss, your lips moving in sync, your tongue caressing his bottom lip and he couldn’t help but open his lips and let you deepen the kiss, take your way, do whatever you wanted to do… He was completely at your mercy and at this moment he wasn’t even ashamed of admiting it, at least for himself. It didn’t take much longer for you to part from the kiss, you needed to breath. You pulled apart slowly, forehead against forehead, heavy breaths and rosy moistured lips. You were so into the kiss that you didn’t even noticed that Luna had gone to the floor, your bodies were much too against each other and one of your legs were on top of his.
When the reality hit, of what had just happened, he pushed himself to the farthest side of the sofa from you. “We shouldn’t… I shouldn’t have done this.” He got up and were about to leave the room, but you were faster holding his hand.
“Daryl, you can’t leave your own room.” You said getting up and trying to look into his eyes as much as it was possible standing up, since your height difference. “If someone have to leave, it must be me.” He didn’t say anything, red cheeks and trying to piece everything that just happened together. “I iniciated it. The fault is on me. Did I kiss bad? Did you not like it?”
“No, it was good. It’s not…”He tried to find his words, but his thoughts overflowed his mind while his brain separated the things he could say and the things he couldn’t. “We’re friends, friends don’t do it.” He had never called you a friend out loud, but this was the perfect time to say it instead of saying how fucked he was and how he didn’t know how to do emotions, he didn’t believe in love or that he could be loved, and how you two getting involved like this would just fuck the whole group.
“Well… when friends get drunk shit happens sometimes. Never happened to me, but… there’s a first time for everything.” You over explained a little, because you were kind of nervous. “It’s all my fault, don’t blame yourself and don’t worry too much. There was a long time I didn’t had a good kiss and you were just too cute... I’m sorry.”
“I did it too, ya don’t need to be sorry.” He averted your gaze, shy, still concerned with everything going on his mind.
“This will not change things between us, right?” You asked and he didn’t answer, still avoiding your eyes. Shit. Shit. Shit. You had probably ruined one of the few good things you had in this shitty world. “Daryl, promise you’ll not avoid me and we’ll still be the same.”
“Ya won’t rest until I promise ya something today, aren’t ya? What is it with ya and promises?” Why were you always asking things from him? At the same time he wanted to tell you to fuck off, he wanted you to be close, at least close enough so he could keep an eye on you.
“I just don’t want things to get odd between us.” You raised your hand in between both of you, all fingers down and just your pinky up. He looked at your hand and could not believe that you were doing it. “Ok, now promise that we’ll still be friends.”
“What are ya? Five?” Who in your age made pinky promises? Why did you have to be so… vivid? “Fine. Let’s make the fucking pinky promise.”
He took your pinky in his and then you sealed it with your thumbs. “Happy?”
“Yes, now I can rest assured that we’re still friends.” You smiled and he rolled his eyes, but deep inside he felt a small warmth and oh, he was so afraid of this, because he had never felt anything like that before and he had no idea of what to do with it. “Have a good night Daryl, and thanks for the drink.”
“Luna, come on girl. Let’s go to sleep.” You called for the german shepherd, she got up from where she was laying, got a lick on Daryl’s hand and waited for him do caress her head, after it she followed behind you to your room.
You closed the door, put your back on it and slided to the floor. You could still feel his lips on yours, his hand at the back of your head, fingers tangled in your hair and the heat of his body. How could you ever have a normal life after this? It could sound dramatic, but there was so long you weren’t this close to a man… Years actually, you didn’t even get on dates after Paul and he never did you feel this good as just kissing and touching Daryl made you feel. Fuck. Shane was right, you definitely had a crush on him, maybe more than this. And you Y/N Grimes didn’t do ‘more than this’, not anymore. You didn’t even do ‘less than this’.
You got up and decided it was time to go to bed and try to sleep. Luna laid by your side and you snuggled to her. “What should I do Luna?”
“Woof!” She said and gave a lick to your face.
“I already did it Luna, and I don’t know if it was the correct thing to do. I didn’t even know if he liked it.” Anyone would think you were crazy, but talking to Luna from time to time kept your sanity in place. “I’m not you, you know?”

How Much?! - Just Us Chapter 3
Warnings: Suggestive themes
Word Count: 1644
Series List | Chapter 2 | Chapter 4
================================
The elevator ride was calm compared to the car ride, Wanda was lent against me with one arm wrapped around mine and the other holding my bicep of the same arm. Her head was leaning against my arm just below my shoulder, now I could take in how tall I was compared to her, a relaxed smile on her face as we both looked at one another through the reflection in the mirrored walls of the elevator.
I also don't feel like slamming her up against the wall and making her cum once again. I think she feels the same, as she seems more relaxed than when we were in the club and the car. Maybe I should offer her a drink and chat before anything else. No, I will offer her a drink, and we will do this at her pace. She has never been with a woman before...well now she has...but I want to make sure she is comfortable this whole night. So her pace.
"Penthouse suite?" Wanda's gaze moved from looking at me to the sign in the elevator letting us know we had arrived.
"Uh, yeah this is my floor. Well two floors." I shuffled on my feet a little, I always hated showing off my wealth too much. Nothing screams rich fucker like a 2 story penthouse at the top of an already expensive apartment building practically made for the richer people of New York.
"Do you mind me asking what job you have to be able to have a two floor penthouse?" Wanda's voice wavered a bit trying to gauge what I would do.
The elevator bell dinged, the doors opening straight into the entrance hall. And before you think 'oh surely anyone can access the penthouse then'. No. The building has an interface system where you have to have a key card, or if you're like me and sometimes forget your key card, a password as well to be able to access past a certain floor. However, even then the cards and passwords are linked to a particular floor number so you can't access anything but yours. The only way someone could possibly get into my pent house without any of that is with a guest password, and each one of those is different so you know who accessed your place and when.
Pretty neat if you ask me. My friend Tony Stark came up with the idea when building this place, making sure I specifically got the top floor and allowed me to design my penthouse myself. He is a good friend.
Anyway, back to Wanda's question.
"No, it's fine. I am a business woman, CEO of a tech company that works in the medical field and also a partner in my friend's tech business."
"Wow, so earning the big bucks." I stifle a laugh.
"Yes, something like that. Drink?" I pull her to the kitchen area where I have a large wine fridge and then another fridge with beers and other alcoholic beverages in it.
"Red wine please." Wanda makes herself home on one of the stools at the kitchen's island.
"Any preferences?" I turn with the best two bottles of wine I have holding them up to her. "Château Ausone 2003 or Château Lafite 2010?"
"I don't know. I've never had either before. Whatever you think is best for tonight." She looks like she wants to ask another question as I open the Ausone.
"You can ask me Wanda." I turn around with a wine glass in hand passing it off to her, as she looks slightly confused about how I knew.
"How much does a bottle of Ausone cost? Because you opened it like it wasn't that much. I mean it sounds posh and expensive. Sorry it doesn't matter." She takes a sip of her drink to stop her rambling.
"It's okay Wanda I promise. You're allowed to ask these questions, you're just curious I get that."
"Okay well how much does it cost?" She asks with a cheeky grin on her face.
"That one is the St Emilion Grand Cru. So roughly $1200 a bottle." I hear Wanda choke slightly at my answer, but she quickly covers her mouth recovering from her momentary choke.
"Sorry, but that's more than my monthly rent. Wow. It definitely tastes like a $1200 bottle of liquid courage." She then takes another sip, now obviously savouring the drink.
"Well you can't blame me for that one. It was a gift, it's been sitting there a while. So why not treat you to it." I raise my glass to my mouth watching her reaction.
"Oh so this is your saving for a rainy day wine?" She jokes.
"Exactly. I had no one to share it with till now, so I thought fuck it, otherwise it will never get drunk otherwise." She hums in response. "Any other questions for me princess?"
"Why the name princess? Also is it rude if I ask how much you earn a year? I mean I'm just curious, you know, expensive wine in a two story penthouse. You have to be bringing home the bacon right?" Wanda places her empty glass on the counter, and I move to top it up again as I think of an answer.
"I don't really know. It was the first thing to pop into my head when trying to fluster you, which worked by the way." She blushes slightly as I continue. "I mean I don't call anyone princess, never have. It just seemed fitting. And as for how much I earn, are you sure you really want to know?"
"Hmm, I mean I don't have a name for you. You're just y/n. Why? Is it a lot?" Wanda tilts her head in question.
"Y/n is just fine. I don't need to go by anything else. Define a lot. What is a lot of money for you Wanda?"
"Well I have a 2 bedroom apartment that costs me around $1000 a month. I'm not poor in that sense of the word, I always have spare money and savings and my salary is decent. But a lot would be...I don't know...let's set the benchmark at $500'000." I finished off my glass of wine, liking my lips cleaning them of wine not missing Wanda's eyes darting down to watch the movement.
"Then I earn waaaay more than alot. Like I asked before, are you really sure you want to know?" This time I tilt my head in question.
"Can I guess? And then you say higher or lower?" She shuffles on the stool excitedly at the prospect of the small guessing game.
"Of course go ahead."
"Uhmm a lot more than $500'000 so 1.2 mil?" I point my finger upwards to indicate it's higher. "2 million?" Again I point upwards. "5 million?"
"Much higher."
"12 million?"
"Multiply that by five." It takes no longer than a second to do the Maths.
"60 million! A year? Holy shit!"
"I make anywhere between 60 to 85 million. However, I put a lot of it back into the company and help start up small businesses and of course give to charity."
"So what do you indulge in? Because every millionaire has something they spend lots of money on. So spend money on houses, cars or even islands? So what is y/ns favourite thing to spend money on?"
"I am a car person myself, but I tend to buy rust buckets and fix them up myself. Of course I have luxury cars and that but they are more for formal events just for publicity and all that, my PR team seems to think it helps the company and so on and so forth. But in all honesty I like treating my friends most if all. What would you spend the money on if you had that sort of income?"
"I would love to say the same as you. You know, help others in need, give to smaller businesses and friends and family. However, if I jump from my salary to your salary I am spoiling myself first. Car, house, the whole nine yards." We both laugh at her honesty. "Now though I think I'm done with the small talk." Her voice is low, her pupils dilate as she speaks.
"Yeah and what have you got in mind princess?" I lean closer to her whispering in her ear, a shiver going down her spine.
"I think we should take this to the bedroom." Wanda sighs when I start nibbling at her ear.
"Oh yeah? And what do you want to do once we are there princess?" I move my hands to her thighs slowly moving them up and down.
"You tell me?"
"Well princess. I am going to make this the best night of your life. You're going to be screaming my name so loud you forget your own, your legs squeezing around my head as I bring you so much pleasure you won't be able to feel them in the morning. I'm going to find every little spot that sets you off and leave a beautiful purple bruise on them to remind you of how I made you feel." A small fuck leave her mouth, her legs closing slightly to gain some form of friction as I speak. "So princess, are you ready for me to take full control of you tonight?"
"Fuck. Yes. Please. Just fuck me already."
"I have your complete consent?" Just got to double check to make sure it is truly what she wants.
"Yes, now please fuck me y/n."
"What's the safe word?"
"Red."
"Good girl." A low groan leaves her lips as I pull her off the stool, her legs wrap around my waist as I start to carry her out of the kitchen.
Tonight is going to be fun.

(FANFIC IS UNDER THE CUT!)
Tumblr media
You can’t remember how many glasses you’ve had the past few hours, not like you care, not like anyone cares if you get alcohol poisoning or not. Nobody cares and loves you for who you are. That is why you’re drinking the gloomy night away on your kitchen floor, stained with tears and spilled wine. Your girlfriend, now ex-girlfriend, cheated on you with a man, deeming she only put up with you because of your money and fame. She didn’t love you, especially not with the baggage that made your relationship a rocky path. “3 years of dating down the drain, whoop whoop!” you cheered, trying to humor yourself to distract you from the pain in your chest. “A new record for the broken actress, Y/n Y/l/n!”
It won’t be long before another headline of your failed relationship spreads, but you don’t care because you’re used to it. Damn these paparazzi for meddling in people’s personal lives. The only reason why your personal life doesn’t interfere with your career is because of your talent for acting. Without it, you’d be in some deep shit. They were your ex’s words (you don’t remember which ex said that), but you agree with them. You don’t even know how you could still do your job when you could barely get yourself together. Maybe it's the fact that you could escape yourself and become someone else. Who knows? All you know is that in every role you play, part of the real you—the broken you—is always branded in the characters, which is why your works are famous and unique. Although, that wasn’t intentional.
“When will someone love me like she does?” An exasperated sigh fell from your lips, your mind clouding up as the alcohol started to take a toll on you. You could feel the shooting pain in your head already. Tomorrow will be a bitch to handle with your hangover. “Will someone other than her ever love a helpless dick like me?” Your chuckles turned into boisterous laughter. “I don’t even have one… maybe that’s why that cheater left me for a man.” As your attempted humor died down, you clumsily poured another glass of wine before letting the liquid burn your throat. “Mm… At least wine buddy here will always be with me.” A tender smile grazed your features as you looked at the empty wine bottles staring at you. You sighed contently, resting your head on the island’s cupboards, “Yes, this is my happy ever after.”
“Maybe if I weren’t an actress, I wouldn’t get tricked by these gold-digging, heartbreaking fuckers,” you laughed. “Maybe if I wasn’t breathing at all—Ugh, these fucking thoughts.” You vowed to prevent your intrusive thoughts from getting to you, but you always fail. But damn, doing everything your thoughts told you was tempting your whole being. “I need to plan a cool way to die first.” Shaking your head with a lopsided smile, you reach out for the wine bottle, deciding to just drink straight from it when the door of your condo slams open. “Fuck, I didn’t think I’d die this early,” you mutter, a hint of soberness hitting you at the thought of an intruder crashing your place.
Your trembling hands immediately looked for your phone to call someone. “This is a much less cool way to die,” you cursed when a red bar on your phone battery greeted you. You needed to call someone quickly, which you did by calling the first person on your recently called list. However, you were too much in a state of panic to see who it was. You didn’t want to leave the world with headlines titled similarly to: “Helpless actress Y/n Y/l/n killed in her condo on the night her nth ex-girlfriend left her.” That is definitely not what you want to leave in your legacy. No matter how much you wanted to leave the world, she was the only reason you had yet to do bullshit so you wouldn’t disappoint her and make her sad. You do hope she feels that way if you ever did.
You could hear your phone ringing and the intruder’s steps in dance in a waltz, quickening your heartbeat. But everything came to a blur when their phone started to ring. Somehow, you felt a wave of relief wash over you. Someone you know crashed your place, but why? “Y/n!” Oh. “Y/n/n, are you alright?! Where are you?!” Their voice, despite panicked, calmed your nerves, and you felt that you were drunk on them and not the wine. You shakily got up and held onto the kitchen island to prevent yourself from falling. Your ass hurts, and your legs are weak. “Kitchen!” You called out and then heard hurried steps before your eyes met her forest-green eyes filled with concern. “Wanda…”
Your best friend, a fellow actress, was standing before you. Her appearance was disheveled as if she had rushed to your place, and the thought of it made your stomach churn bittersweetly. Your train of thought halted when your phone started talking about leaving a voice message. You ended eye contact with Wanda to end the call before chucking it across the island, hoping you didn’t toss it too far to make it fall on the floor. You looked back at Wanda and jolted when she suddenly appeared before you, wedging you between her and the island. The wine really messed up your senses, huh? “W-Wands, why are you here?” The nickname made her worried expression falter into a saddened smile. She sighed, “You called five hours ago and told me what happened, but I couldn’t get to you until now because of my schedule and the traffic. I’m sorry.”
“Did I?” you furrowed your brows as you lulled your head to the side, trying to remember, and she hummed to clear your confusion. “I’m sorry for making you worry… I was drunk.” you wanted to slap yourself at your shrinking voice. You feel so vulnerable around her, always so warm in her presence. Wanda chuckled at your statement and corrected, “Still drunk.” You huffed with a pout, “But I’m more sober now thanks to the heart attack you almost gave me. How’d you even get in?” Wanda brought an extra pair of keys before you, leaving you dumbfounded again. “Come on, sit. Your legs are barely doing their job. Let me get something to sober you up,” she chuckled, helping you to the living room, and you genuinely smiled for the first time tonight. Wanda’s gentle touch spreads warmth to your cheeks (not from the alcohol) and butterflies in your stomach. You didn’t need anything but her. “Stay,” you urged, tugging her sleeve. “Alright.” She sent you a smile before you two cuddled on your couch.
“Wands, am I lovable?” Your sudden question made her furrow her brows, breaking the comfortable silence. Wanda looked down at you, resting your head on her shoulder and covered in your favorite blanket. Your vulnerable state made her tighten her arms around you, making you snuggle closer and bask in her soothing scent and warmth. “Of course you are. The ones who left you don’t see what we see—what I see.” You hum in understanding. The pain in your chest only deepened from her statement, “What I see.” What could your best friend see in you? “Do you love me?” You asked despite knowing the answer, and Wanda would’ve missed your words if you weren’t beside her. “Yes, I do, Y/n/n. I love you very much.” A solemn smile was your response, making Wanda think she said something wrong. “Not the way I want.” It was supposed to be a thought kept deep in your head, but you knew you messed up when you felt her body tense around you. You didn’t mean to say it aloud. “W-What do you mean…?”
“I-I’m sorry. Forget what I said.” You hoped she would brush it off as one of your drunken antics, and you cursed yourself for being so broken, so desperate for her to look at you the same way you do. Yes, you’re romantically in love with your best friend, but she’s married with children. You knew her love was nothing but platonic and motherly, but you still fell for her. Remembering your reality, you wiped your tears before they embarrassingly fell for the nth time before pulling away from her hold, avoiding her eyes, but she held your wrists, looking at you with a guilty and concerned expression. No. Why is she guilty? Is she pitying you? You didn't want her pity. You just want something she can’t give you.
“Am I the reason why you drown yourself in relationships…?” Wanda spoke carefully, and your silence confirmed her suspicion. She was happy, and you didn’t want to break your friendship, which is why you sought other women to forget your feelings for Wanda, but none of them could compare to her. You dated and dated and dated, even almost married your recent ex-girlfriend if you didn’t catch her affair, just to forget about her. You just wanted to stop the pain in your heart, even if your relationships were toxic and short. You even wanted to cut ties with Wanda because it hurt too much, but you couldn’t push her away, not when she was the only one helping you live your miserable life. “I’m sorry, Wands. I… I just want to be happy because I can’t have you. P-Please don’t push me away, Wanda. I don’t want to lose you, please.” Your broken sobs returned for the nth time this night, but Wanda carefully held you in her arms, letting you cry your heart out. “You don’t need to apologize, Y/n/n. I won’t push you away. I’m right here.” Wanda knew it was hard for you to keep everything to yourself, and she felt guilty for breaking you more than you already are.
You couldn’t remember how long you stayed in her arms, but you did feel better now that you got all those pent-up emotions out of your chest, and you’re grateful that Wanda didn’t push you away. As much as you wanted her to stay, it was already late, and she needed to return home. “You should go… Vis and the twins are waiting for you,” you muttered, your voice spent from sobbing for god knows how many hours. Despite her protests, you escorted her to the entrance and sent her a genuine smile. “Thank you, Wands.” Your statement made her mirror your expression before she hugged you goodbye. After a long, tired sigh of relief, you went to the kitchen to find your phone. When you did, you scrolled over someone’s contact and called them. A few rings passed before they answered. “Hello? Y/n?” Their voice made you shakily sigh. “H-Hey, Nat. Can you pick me up, please? I know it’s been a long time… but can you help me forget… again…? Thank you…” The line went silent for a few seconds, and you started to regret calling her. “Of course, anytime, detka. I’ll make you forget. I always do.”
Half an hour later, a black car stops before your condo building, and you rush down to meet her. Natasha: your friend with benefits. A relationship almost bloomed between you and her, but you two settled to remain friends and hit each other up when you needed sex. She’s the one who holds you every time your relationship crumbles. She makes you forget about everything with her touch, even if it’s only for a short time. Perhaps jumping from person to person to find love isn’t a bad idea now that you’ve gotten your feelings for Wanda out of your chest. You could now focus on yourself and find or wait for the one. You’ll just wait until someone accepts your baggage and loves you as you are. But before that happens, you just have to forget and forget until you’re ready to move on.
