I heard we were allowed out little conspiracies theories to be set into the wild, so I came running.
*Pulls out the little stool and conspiracy board again* Okay so
I’m thinking we have a SDR2 mind wipe on our hands. No one ever mentions the killing game. Like- ever. They stay away from Kiyo still, but that can just be chalked up to creepy-boiyo. And I’m pretty sure If any of them remembered Nagito they wouldn’t let him be near Kokichi, ever. (Two suicidal evil geniuses being together would create the most catastrophic thing known to man.) and well no one would be around Kokichi. Also, Kokichi doesn’t Lie. Like, ever. In-game he says that he hates lying, and we can guess if there wasn’t a killing game he wouldn’t lie, so…
But then we have the question of why they remember the tragedy… and to that I say they most likely believed they were in the tragedy itself, but they don’t remember any of the killing games. Now the real plot hole in this idea is Tsumugi. She specifically references Cos-pox as being a fake memory, and Kaede agrees. We also have Kiyo talking about the fake memories. Now, this is a problem for my little idea. Cospox and the fake memories are something only from the killing game of V3, and as someone previously mentioned Shuichi and presumably the others know Monokuma by name. My guess is they remember something like Team salmon mode or talent development plan, but not the killing game. It’s shown in those modes the V3 cast has the fake memories, and Tsumugi presumably has cospox.
Now, this explains why Mikan and Junko being around each other isn’t weird here. Neither one remembers the killing games. Or, the AI’s remember but aren’t telling anyone. I’m not sure which (I totally won’t make another ask about it haha)
now, this begs the question of why. And who? I think the former is easier to answer, but this is going to be shaky ground.
it might be that the recovery process toook a turn for the worse in the hospital. We never see anyone talk about what happened in the hospital flashbacks in the main AU, so I’m assuming those memories were wiped as well. Maybe someone found the old footage of the killing games and everyone relapsed, who knows. Point is, that took a turn for the very, very much worse here and someone decided that they needed to take further action to help everyone, so they placed everyone in an updated version of the neo world program, and messed with their memories.
as for who, I think I’ll need to see more of this AU before I can safely answer that. I have my suspiciousions, *cough cough future foundation cough cough* but I’ll leave them aside for now.
*as he says this final sentence, Shuichi comes onstage and drags him away*
Shuichi: I’m so sorry you had to sit through that, he gets carried away.
gonna throw a wrench in your theory by confirming that everyone remembers the killing games :3c the thing is, they're on a therapy trip. i thought they'd mentioned the games on the bus but if they haven't, it's because they're trying not to think about them. but check out the way certain people interact with each other. i think some of the relationships are more than enough to confirm they all remember something happened.
there's also the post about the relationships between the killers and their victims to cement this
there is. a nugget of truth in this theory though. not gonna say what it is though nslfksdnfs

💙 Shuichi Saihara/Kokichi Oma 💜
Tags: premonitions / dream connections / sun and moon imagery / canon divergence / hurt/comfort
Words: 4.1k words (one-shot)
Kokichi’s smile is wry, and for a moment, Shuichi feels as if he’s been here before, under this watchful gaze. Kokichi whispers, “Hmm… I guess this is hell.” When Shuichi is forced into the Killing Game, the boundaries between his dreams and reality begin to blur, until Shuichi finds himself trying to save the life of a grinning shadow.
🔗 Link to fic!
Fun fic facts and timelapse stats under the cut!
I posted this on Valentine's day for the Saiouma Pit exchange!
I actually drafted a completed different fic idea for these prompts that ended up being 7k words or even more with all the drafts and iterations, but I scrapped it at the last minute because it was too complicated and I knew I wouldn't finish on time. It was an AU where Kokichi and Shuichi were graffiti artists, and it leaned heavily on the sun and moon imagery and tarot. Maybe someday when I can dedicate more time, I'll revisit it.
My initial idea for these prompts was actually very similar to what the final fic ended up involving, so I was probably subconsciously thinking about it all along until I made the switch. If you want to see my feverish sprint to get this done and polish it off in just 1 week, here are my draftback stats from google docs!

Different kind of a killing game
[parts said by others start with their names, also this one is incredibly long and goes into post-game saiou angst]
Hina: Okay so moving from gore-discussions because this wasn’t exactly gore: Ideas for alternative motives for V3. The one that I’m thinking about very much right now is the idea of a prisoners dilemma type motive The general idea of the prisoners dilemma is: any number of prisoners in a group have an option of giving information to authorities in order to lessen their sentence. If one person gives information, they will be let off with a much shorter sentence, at the consequence of the other prisoners getting a heavier one, but if they all stay quiet, they keep the same regular length sentence. If they all expose each other, they all get the heavier sentence The idea hinges around what humans do in a situation where trust like this is involved. The best outcome for all parties is if everyone stays quiet, but if one person decides to sell them out, they’re at risk of a larger sentence So yeah, that and put it in V3
Oliver: What information would they have that monokuma would want??
Hina: It doesn’t necessarily have to be information It’s mainly the choice of whether to do what the authority figure wants at the cost of selling out the group I’d imagine it like this. Monokuma gives them a period of time to investigate and then tells them theyll be given a vote on who the mastermind is If you correctly vote the mastermind, you get to leave no consequences. If you vote incorrectly, however. The person that you voted for will die and you’re labeled their blackened. If nobody votes, you all get to continue the game without any risks So here’s the dilemma. Even if they all know with 100% certainty who the mastermind is, the mastermind can still vote wrong and kill a person, even if the rest get out And the other option is they have to trust the idea that nobody votes and they all love
Checkers: can they see who votes first?
Hina: No, They don't know who, Unless they're watching each other That's another fun part, Watching their behavior as they vote Cause I'm assuming they're voting at rhe trial podiums So they can all see each other too
[some time was spent talking about which chapter this motive should be introduced in & speculating about what would happen in the suggested scenarios, but that won't be relevant bc of a later decision]
Hina: I just xame to a beautiful discovery This would be the perfect motive for a Mastermind Shuichi AU Like it's right up his alley eith the detective thing
Oliver: IMAGINE IF IT WAS A REPEATING MOTIVE…….. you could actually make a whole death game out of that
Hina: No but did you know that's actually a second part to the prisoners dillema There's a second aspect to the prisoners dillema related to: What would happen the more times the situation was repeated Would they start working together over time realizing it's bad for them Would they use exposing each other as bargaining chips. Like. "If you let me lessen my sentence today I'll let you lessen yours tomorrow"
Oliver: I was thinking if it were a repeating motive, it could practically be the whole gimmick of the killing game. Like imagine two people die from being voted for. One blackened, and one person who gets away scot-free but killed the other person with their vote. The blackened gets caught, because Shuichi, but maybe someone else finds out who the other voter was, and kills them because the other person who died was close to them. Another trial, and then another Prisoner's Dilemma Vote
Hina: You want to know another fun idea If this is a simulation in which Shuichi doesn't care because he knows he's gonna live and is playing observer In a scenario where they've voted out blackened to die They're given the option of thus "If everyone says yes, I'll bring back half the dead participants at random. If any specific people are voted for, they will be brought back and the rest stay dead" So now it's a choice of bringing back the most people, or trying to guarantee that the person you care for most comes vack It's the reverse dilemma And there's probably people you don't want to come back so Do you really want to risk your best friend not coming back, in favor of someone you hate Mastermind can vote someone they don't want back into the ftay Imagine Kokichi gets voted out on pretenses of people suspecting him Nobody wanted to bring him back, so Shuichi used his vote to guarantee he was brought back Now there's dealing with the fact of. Hey, I'm alive again At the cost of someone who goes against mg moral code in every way being the person to do ir
I am imagining them doing the dillema as a bonus after getting the normal trial vote right so right after 4th trial would be good
this also made me think of a killing game on fully different rules, where if they fail to get away as a blackened they're not executed since the only goal is finding the mastermind. they would be doing only the mastermind vote after trials, with the option to skip, but generally, they get two chances to eliminate mastermind per chapter, first by setting up the murder, and then second if the group figured out the murder and get to vote, if somebody gets away with murder, they leave on their own, the group will be allowed to leave if mastermind is eliminated, and that's with keeping in mind that voting for someone means killing them, but they don't have to worry about being executed for getting it wrong, it's just about their morals.
Checkers: what if the mastermind is killed?
the game ends
there should be a hard limit of how many people can be voted out per trial too, so it doesn't end too fast, like "only first three votes will count, so decide quickly" or even less. I think, with the presence of mastermind being known and everyone working against them rules would be way stricter in general, mass murder wasn't allowed to begin with, here it's "you've only got one shot", it only gets reset if everyone still alive has blood on their hands (either by murder or vote) or, my first idea, was it being reset every chapter after vote, aka the killer couldn't vote in the same chapter, but the idea of everybody having blood on their hands come final chapter is spicier,
Checkers: if you vote correctly you leave and if majority votes correctly the mastermind dies?
not in my version, it's enough for one correct vote to kill the mastermind, only the first three who vote register, even if they're all skips, people who voted for someone or killed directly would break a rule and therefore be punished for getting another person killed before it's reset because of a lack of spotless
Checkers: if only the first three register then there might be a lot more panic over voting maybe they rush to vote without thinking as much so. I propose. monokuma changes the voting layout midgame, they were ready to vote and clicked really fast but didn't realize they voted wrong until it was too late
yeah, that panic is what's I was going for, they gotta be locked in and ready to get someone killed the moment voting pulls up Kokichi is a big fan of getting in a "skip" as one of those 3 but not everybody thinks like that the first time, he's just like, "oh, then we can all press skip, nice, easy." and then there's a bang.
they could [reveal who they voted for], but they're not obligated to,
Checkers: I think they would, or others might force them to say it. it prevents a lot of wasted votes/kills
they don't even know if their votes are the ones that registered until the voting is done and acted on, the votes that registered get revealed but without information who put them in, so if somebody voted the same as you just faster you wouldn't know and just think that's probably your vote, some might try to get others to vote the same as them if they're convinced somebody's the mastermind, but if they got other motives for trying to eliminate someone, they'd rather stay quiet,
I think since it's more of a cat & mouse game between mm and others, there would be messages from them included in the rewards they get, one a real hint and one misleading, they just have to decide which is which, those would replace the flashback lights I guess,
mm Shuichi would listen to what others are suggesting to him, making Kaito think that he is relying on him, but actually he's only okay with voting on Kokichi because he's planning to bring him back later, great for the plot, but not mm Shuichi would mostly just skip until he had solid evidence someone is the mastermind
Sini: The thing is, I can see some people not even voting the mastermind here. Like, someone could vote for the killer as revenge or for the safety of the group. Or, someone might vote cause they know they themselves are likely to be voted as the mastermind and they want to take the chance of being the first vote that can take the person who will vote them out as a means of saving their own skin. Like, Himiko could vote Korekiyo off for example. And the last scenario could absolutely fit Kokichi, though the question is, would he actually do that? Given how he is in game, I think he would as it is just one of the sacrifices he'd have to make in order to end the game himself
yes, you get my vision 100% what I meant by "other motives" he could still make Gonta do it, he'd tell him it's to raise their chances, but it'd be actually because he knows he himself would hesitate but also consider: he doesn't make it far enough this time too sus for his own good
Sini: Little guy dies before he can even think to do that or pull it off…
he'd get voted out as soon as the second trial, then mastermind would bring him back after the 4th, the group dynamic would be a lot different, some would probably be more willing to trust him now, knowing he's not the mm, but that too depends on how well he copes with that
somebody voted him out, in fact, most likely multiple people voted for him, and now that he's back… they expect cooperation? he teams up with Shuichi because he's the one that voted him back in, or so he says, can't fully trust that, but hopefully? more than others
I think this one vote would become public because they'd have an argument after seeing Ouma brought back and make each other admit to their votes, there was some suspicion and talking behind backs and asking each other one on one before, but this is the one where it would become a whole ordeal of peer pressure, so the brought back peeps would know who claims them (and why would anyone risk lying about that? they didn't, right? that's the last person who'll want to hurt me, right?)
if saiouma had rights I could say that Shuichi brought him back because he wanted to get to know him better, continued to wonder about the mysterious boy, it would be a second chance for them, but. Mastermind Saihara is the better explanation
I don't know, can they still have something complicated going on post-game if Saihara is the mastermind? What it would take for Kokichi to be conflicted and don't straight up hate him after they leave vr? cause being brought back wouldn't be enough and actually only make the betrayal worse
Sini: I think the only thing that could make Kokichi not fully hate Shuichi is if Shuichi had his personality and memories screwed up Like, he was made to be the mm
I dunno, I don't want it to be that, if he's altered it's a little bit, like, everyone got Enhanced to be Ultimates, but then that means they did sign up, and he volunteered to be the mastermind and he's himself with new cool knowledge and skills, but that's about it. I want Kokichi to be forced to think about his morals, to have to notice good things in Saihara who is the ringleader, made those motives, and unfortunately proven to him that none of them are better than him (remember the counter being reset by the final chapter, that's important, even though that means this one would have more chapters than canon)
he's going to have to think about how Saihara was doing a silly little social experiment knowing it's not real, while the lot of them was killing for real, thinking it'll be permanent, and how Saihara never was the blackened, and kept the game fair with the hints and lead it to the conclusion since his goal never were to keep them trapped in the hell loop, and how he cared & patched him up when he got injured
he wants to believe Saihara was just being manipulative, but it doesn't add up
Sini: I meant more like he was forced to be the mm but I see what you're saying. Maybe Kokichi doesn't hate him as much cause he sees himself to be just as awful as him? Or maybe there are aspects to Shuichi that have him feel bad for him. And yeah! He sees how he was at least fair about everything. But I'm gonna be real, I don't think Kokichi could ever forgive him or even see him in a good light. He might not fully hate him, he could give him some props for certain things, but he is still the one that made everyone do all that horrible shit. Even if it wasn't real, it felt real. It was real to them. It doesn't matter if Shuichi does actually care for him, he still manipulated him and everyone else. He would want to see the good in him, but all the stuff I mentioned could never be enough and what he's done could never just be ignored. Just because Kokichi might see himself in a similar awful light doesn't mean he's going to give Shuichi that much charity. How I see it, it could never work
I love pg Shuichi who's been neglected and clung to the comfort show, so I imagine him going far past interacting enough not to be suspicious, he's thrilled to make friends, loves having a talent and therefore finally being special enough to hold people's attention, have something to connect with them instead of just offputing people with his fannish rambles about executions and from ch5 on to the end he would be the closest to Kokichi, so he would be trying to get that back, he's attached
I am just trying to paint the picture of, memory manipulation is barely still on the table, no flashback lights, no identity changing stuff or big gaps in memory, a lot more defined rules, cards on the table about how things work, the choice being fully theirs: stay or try to leave, I'll even give you a hint. He was mostly an observer in the whole thing
Ves: much harder in on them being his friends than tsumugi is. he's actually MORE like junko in that way, huh
bro's not even giving them motives, he's getting so much blackmail material just from being able to check who voted what and he's not using it, he's just there to hang out with his friends, and maybe study their behaviour under immense stress hahaha
Hina: I like the idea of Mastermind Shuichis game being a character study
Ves: were they friends pregame [my reply] no, he had no friends, this is his idea of an ice-breaker, he's just getting to know them better this is the best way to really get to know who people are at their core, trust him, he learned a lot on the internet
Sini: So they're all the same in that they gave themselves up to DR and while responsible for their own actions, were taken advantage of by Team DR? [my reply] I guess, yeah?
Ves: he made fifteen friendship bracelets in preparation
he thought it's going to be like solving a locked room together, a nice bonding activity, it's basically the same thing if you're as desenitized to death as he was! He was helping through leaving hints! It wouldn't be fun if he made it too easy, but he did a good job adjusting the difficulty level for the group, he's a good game master he gave them a good journey on the way to the victory that was always eventual, he cheered them on
Ves: im gonna cry he's sweet in the worst possible way v3's world rlly fucks up everybody who lives in it huh everyone who 'died' is just backstage with juiceboxes he does not see the problem
Sini: Man, I feel like that would make Kokichi hate him more, if that makes any sense. At least at first, anyway. Cause he's so sad and sweet yet did the most horrible things. He doesn't see anything wrong with what he did.
"I was worried I am going to fumble and get caught early, but I am glad I was able to give everyone a good season despite my anxiousness" gives that small smile
Sini: I feel like when they get mad at him, he cries jwjhhwef He only wanted to have fun : (
Ves: kokichi how could you POSSIBLY be mad at this guy. the murder does not count as a reason
Sini: His heart definitely doesn't hurt when he makes him cry. Definitely not
Ouma lashes out at him (post game, because in game he was in too much shock to bring up personal feelings about how it affects him as an individual, instead of talking about The Whole Thing) and he's like" "but I thought- I thought that we, that you… nevermind" hides the notebook full of ideas for what they might do together now that they're out and runs away, crying
Ves: he deserves it but like that's my son my beloved son who has committed war crimes
He was SO going to ask him out if Kokichi didn't bring him back down to earth
Ves: he's borderline delusional abt all this and when he gets a healthier mindset the self hatred is gonna hit harder than even canon shuuichi
Checkers: he specifically asked the backstage ppl to give Kokichi the nice juicebox brand. That’s rly romantic right
Sini: Knowing this now, I think when Kokichi finally accepts that he made the choice to join danganronpa and that they were all in the worst mindsets when getting into the recent season will he, not forgive Shuichi, but not be so mad at him anymore. He's more angry at DR than anything. He's still uncomfortable around him, his trust issues really keep him still feeling strong about what Shuichi did to him, but he holds no real strong feelings against him. He just feels bad for him
Ves: oh is this official danganronpa? somehow i got the impression that it was a fan project like in a warehouse somewhere
it's official they all audition and get on location, their memory of getting there it's closer to thh, "I came in here, lost consciousness and then suddenly it was Like That" Shuichi didn't do anything illegal, he just hosted a season of a popular tv show and they all got juiceboxes!
Ves: they WANTED to do this fun and normal team building exercise why are they so MAD at him!!! completely unfair i think he'd get really offended if they imply he was like. faking his grief at the deaths. because he DID grieve! his tears were genuine!! just…in a nice, comfortable, cathartic sort of way. he always knew he'd be going home he cried like you cry at a sad tv show the others cried like it was real
Sini: Like that's what really pisses them off. He saw it all as a show when they saw it as reality
the disconnect is more at a level as if they were playing D&D, of course he's invested and he's sad if someone has to leave the game he's going to miss them, but they'll see each other later, it's fine. And, well, he's not happy to see his dear friends fighting or upset, obviously, but those things happen and in the end it'll all be resolved, in the matter of a few weeks at most
Ves: it's just LARPing at the end of the day. them not KNOWING that doesn't count because they asked for it to be that way. he's helping!! he's facilitating what they wanted!! he brought juiceboxes!!!!!!! tsumugi we bonded over being DMs how are you mad at me now
What if. What if they're siblings. What if one of their parents is a Team DR executive/ some higher up. What if they both auditioned for the mastermind. Pitched in their ideas. What if angry pg Tsumugi left a letter for her future self talking about her bitch ass brother stealing her chance to finally get their attention. What if post game Tsumugi lived to see said parent never visit either of them despite working in the same building. What if she saw her old self in Shuichi, nearly mirror like. What if it terrified her
Sini: Not getting the role was the best thing to happen to her…

Across the Universe Chapter 1: Have We Met Before
(Written for Momoharu Week 2023 Day 1: Trust)
Tumblr media
Story Description: The most interesting thing "Kaito Momota" had ever done in his life was stupidly sign up for a death game as an impulsive teen. With his ridiculous and life-threatening choices behind him and completely forgotten, however, he tries his best to live a normal life--keeping up with his university classes and his part-time job as a waiter at a sushi restaurant across the street from the planetarium. When he meets and befriends the strangely familiar Maki Harukawa, a quiet and standoffish education major who is shouldering a painful secret, however, he starts to unravel the truth of his past and begins to wonder if love can exist across the universe.
Written for Momoharu Week 2023. Each chapter corresponds to a different day's prompt, but the story is cohesive.

Chapter 1 below the cut. Thank you for reading! 💜
I’ll never forget the first time I saw “Planetarium Girl.” I was wiping down one of the outdoor tables at the sushi restaurant where I worked when I saw a wave of dark hair and heard the clip-clopping sound of her shoes on the pavement. She turned and glanced over at me, and when I met her eyes, I could have sworn I knew her—had known her all my life. It was one of those cosmic experiences they talk about in the movies…or maybe she was just a former classmate of mine I had forgotten or I had seen her at the park or the supermarket. The whole experience was giving me déjà vu, and I couldn’t do anything but stare at her and no, not just because she was pretty—though I admit I noticed that too. It was impossible not to. But I swear I’m not some kind of creep—I really was just wracking my brain trying to figure out where we had met before. I couldn’t call to mind her name, her hobbies, her favorite color, if we were friends, coworkers, classmates or just strangers who bumped into each other running errands. But I knew her face and that sadness that passed over her eyes when she looked at me made my chest ache.
She turned away quickly and disappeared into the planetarium across the street. I’ll admit I was a little disappointed. I was hoping she would stop by the restaurant, maybe even get seated in my section by a stroke of luck and I’d get a little more time to figure out how I knew her. Instead, she vanished, and it wasn’t long before my manager walked by and quipped, “Stop making goo goo eyes and get back to work.”
I tried to shake off that weird sense of déjà vu and forget the whole thing. I figured that I’d probably never see her again, but I was wrong. Every so often with no real rhyme or reason to it, she’d appear—walking on the opposite side of the street either coming or going from the planetarium. That whole summer I was waiting the outside tables at the sushi restaurant, so I got a front row seat to “Planetarium Girl” as I began to call her—never quite being able to call to mind her actual name. I began to wonder if she worked there or maybe she was just really into space or something. A science student, perhaps—future rocket scientist and ultra-intelligent. It made me question even more how I could know someone like that. I got by in school and was somehow muddling through my university classes—juggling them and my part-time job. I was never particularly ambitious and only enrolled in university in the first place since I felt like I owed it to my grandparents after what I put them through as a rebellious teenager.
Most teens rebelled by partying, dying their hair or getting a tattoo, but I took out my teen angst by signing over my bodily autonomy to a reality tv show death game. Not the best decision I had ever made in my life. To be honest, I didn’t remember a thing about it. The doctor said it was retrograde amnesia. Baba, my grandmother, said it was a blessing.
We never really discussed the death game beyond teary-eyed Baba spluttering about how awful it was to have to watch some version of me fight for my life—whatever that means. I figured it was probably for the best that I didn’t remember something so horrible, but still it was hard not to feel like I had missed out on a whole chunk of my life even if it was traumatic. I tried not to think about it, but it had been on my mind a bit since the company who ran the thing was in the middle of a huge, highly publicized lawsuit at the moment. You would have thought a couple of bigwig executives would realize you can’t facilitate the deaths of minors on international tv without repercussions, but apparently not.
Having promised Baba that I’d turn over a new leaf and move forward, I didn’t want anything to do with the lawsuit—that didn’t stop the lawyers from sending a bunch of materials over though. I just shoved them in a box somewhere, not that it mattered. The way I saw it, everyone makes stupid choices sometimes, and even if my choices were way more stupid (and life threatening) than most, it didn’t help me or anyone to sit around wallowing in regret over them, so I moved forward and tried to live as decent and as normal a life as I could now—muddling my way through classes and waiting tables and wondering how in the world I knew “Planetarium Girl.” I didn’t know what it was about her that had me so focused on trying to figure out why she looked so familiar to me. It bothered me for months until finally, one evening in the late summer after an extra shift I picked up for someone else, I decided to check out the planetarium for myself. No, I wasn’t following her there. I just wanted to see what the big deal was—it had to be a pretty amazing place if “Planetarium Girl” kept visiting it over and over. So I bought a ticket.  What could it hurt?
The kid running the ticket booth had thick rimmed glasses too big for his baby face and was way too excited about this new planetarium show about the moon they were showing just for the summer. He said I was lucky that I decided to come in before they retired it since it was only a limited engagement and pointed me in the direction of some practically abandoned exhibits about the stars and planets. I perused them—mainly just looking at the pictures and skimming over the accompanying text—until it was almost time for the final planetarium show of the night.
As soon as I walked through the door, my breath hitched. There was Planetarium Girl sitting a few seats into a row midway down the aisle. I took a deep breath—feeling a little nervous all of sudden. What if she thought I was some sort of creep who had followed her here? I tried to remind myself to calm down and play it cool, as I casually made my way down the aisle to her row.
“Can I sit here?” I asked with a slight shrug of my shoulders. She turned and blinked at me with wide, dark eyes. Whether she recognized me or not didn’t show on her face in the slightest. She quirked an eyebrow at me and glanced around at the practically empty planetarium—deserted aside from an older couple about thirty rows over. I fidgeted. Of course she was about to call me out for asking to sit near her when the place was empty.
I chuckled awkwardly, ready to cut my losses and forget the whole thing, when she finally shrugged and muttered, “Okay.” Her voice was monotone—didn’t inspire much confidence that she didn’t mind me sitting near her, but she didn’t say “no” so that was at least something.
As I took my seat, I tried not to stare at her—wracking my brain about where I had seen that wave of dark hair and those thoughtful dark eyes before. Still nothing. I couldn’t for the life of me place her, though she looked extremely familiar to me.
“Do you come to the planetarium often?” I asked. She blinked at me—a bit icy as if she didn’t want to be disturbed. I swallowed hard, but she shrugged curtly.
“Sometimes.”
“I’ve never been before. I work at a restaurant across the street so I’ve been seeing people coming and going from the planetarium all summer and was kind of curious about what all the fuss is about”—I chuckled lightly—”The guy at the ticket counter seems to think this is an amazing show about the moon—a must see, but I guess he’s probably paid to say that…what do you think?”
A pause. “It’s alright.”
“Are you a…rocket scientist or you want to be an astronaut or something or do you just really like space?” The words were awkward. I was mentally kicking myself as soon as they tumbled out of my mouth. What was wrong with me?
Something flickered across Planetarium Girl’s eyes and the expression of her face softened. “No…not me. You?”
I laughed. “Oh heck no. I’m not smart enough for that. I’m barely making it through my classes as it is—there’s no way I’d be able to be a rocket man.”
“Rocket man?” her brow furrowed in confusion but there was something undeniably sad in her eyes.
“Oh no—just like the song, you know? There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s actually pretty cool—it’s just I’m not smart enough for rocket science,” I panicked—words racing and stumbling as I tripped over them. Gosh, I was bad at this. “But it’s totally fine if you are—or if someone is. It’s—it’s actually really cool.”
She blinked but didn’t say anything, and before I could further put my foot in my mouth the lights of the planetarium dimmed marking the beginning of the show. I wasn’t sure if I should be relieved or disappointed.
I had to admit the ticket guy was right—it was a pretty cool planetarium show about the moon though I probably would have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t so busy mentally kicking myself for my awkward conversation with Planetarium Girl. I didn’t even learn her name, and knowing that I would probably forever regret it if I didn’t at least try to introduce myself, I resolved that I’d try to talk to her one last time as soon as the show was over.
“That was pretty good,” I said, turning to her with a slight, lopsided grin when the lights came back on in the planetarium. She shrugged her shoulders. “I can see why you want to come to see it over and over.”
Her dark eyes narrowed, and I cleared my throat—my face growing suddenly warm. “I mean…you…like not you personally but just you as in a person, anyone—someone…” The silence which followed was deafening and I started to panic. I wasn’t sure what to do so I just started rambling, hoping something I said would help salvage the situation. “I’m not a stalker, I promise. I just work across the street and wait the outside tables and so I see people coming and going a lot and you seem to come and go a lot sometimes from the planetarium and you looked really familiar to me so…I would notice sometimes when you passed by because I was trying to figure out…have we met before?”
I managed to cut myself off before I dug the hole any deeper. Planetarium Girl blinked at me, and I could’ve sworn she was going to storm off but she repeated, “I…look familiar to you…?”
Though this was quickly one of the most awkward moments of my life, I somehow managed a quick nod and admitted, “I’m sorry, I don’t know where I know you from, but you do look familiar—I…have we ever met somewhere before?”
There was a long, heavy pause. The dark tile floor was looking more and more inviting to me—maybe if I wished hard enough, I could sink into it.
“No, we haven’t.”
“Oh…” I tripped over my words. Was this whole awkward situation really all for nothing? “Well I feel pretty stupid now...” I rubbed my hand across the back of my neck. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine,” she mumbled turning away abruptly from me to gather up her things.
“Have you ever been to the restaurant across the street? I…work there sometimes so maybe—”
“No,” she cut me off.
“Oh okay…well…maybe we just saw each other on the train or something…”
“Maybe.” Bag in hand she stood in front of me blinking—as if waiting for me to move out of her way so she could go.
“Listen, uh…I’m really sorry. I don’t think we got off on the right foot. Can …can we start over?”
There was no response, but I continued anyway—introducing myself properly, mentioning I was a university student and a part-time waiter at the restaurant across the street. I said it was nice to meet her and thanked her for letting me sit next to her, and I asked her name. To be honest, I didn’t really expect her to tell it to me, but she sighed and though she wouldn’t look at me, she replied, “It’s Maki Harukawa.”
“Maki—like a maki roll?” I teased, and she froze—her shoulders stiffening, but she didn’t say anything. Chuckling a little, I continued just to fill the awkward silence. “It’s my favorite kind of sushi. You like sushi, Maki-roll?”
I chuckled teasingly, though instantly regretted it when her eyes widened with something stormy and pained. I may have been overreacting a little, but I could have sworn she looked like she was about to cry. Something twisted in my chest. I had no idea where those words even came from or why I thought they were remotely okay. “Sorry…” I scrambled. “That was just a stupid joke—a bad pun…I…I get into this sushi mode when I’m at work and I—” I stopped. “Sorry, that was really rude of me. I don’t even know why I said that. I—”
“It’s okay,” she interrupted quietly. “I just never thought I’d get to—” She stopped abruptly and turned her whole body away from me—twisting her hair. There was something soft in her eyes—something gentle and kind, almost embarrassed and…bittersweet. “I’ve…I’ve never really been to a sushi restaurant before.”
“Seriously?” I blurted without thinking. Then, cleared my throat. “Well uh…I know you probably hate me now since I’ve been nothing but rude and awkward to you”—I chuckled awkwardly—”But if you don’t completely hate my guts, would you let me buy you a meal across the street? It’s the least I could do.” I shrugged my shoulders and offered her a lopsided grin. “No pressure or anything—just a friendly dinner and an apology for making things awkward…”
Maki sighed. “I don’t know…I…”
I tilted my head and smiled at her—my expression softening. “It’s really good—one of the best sushi places in the city, trust me.”
As I met her eyes, her cheeks flushed pink. Shrugging my shoulders, I held out my hand to her. In a movie or something, this would be the part where I’d say something cheesy like “Do you trust me?” even though I had given her every reason not to trust me. Of course, I knew I was a trustworthy guy, but she didn’t know that.
My fingers twitched as I began to recoil my hand, but Maki took a deep breath and averted her eyes to the ground. “Okay,” she said. My smile widened, but I tried not to look too giddy as she reached out and gave my hand a firm shake. She had killer grip—I really wasn’t expecting that. “But just a few sushi rolls, nothing more.”
“Of course,” I replied with a nod and a smile—blissfully unaware that this one decision would set in motion a chain of events which would lead me here, to this moment where years later, I’m standing in front of her door armed only with my feelings and the truth, remembering how naïve I was, how clueless, how stupid I was back when she was only “Planetarium Girl”, back when I only wanted to get to know her and learn why it was I had this unshakable sense of déjà vu whenever I saw her, back when I didn’t know the truth and didn’t trust my own feelings.
I know the truth now—know I should have trusted my gut instinct, should have known that we had met before…because now, I’m here, staring at the brass doorknob and the dark wood of her front door, wondering how I’m going to tell her that I finally know everything and how I’m going to convince her that it doesn’t change anything. Now, I can only trust that she will believe me when I finally tell her that whether we’re in that world or this one or any universe at all, I love her.

my silly little non despair dr roomies au ramblings 💭
characters:
main housemates: chiaki + hajime + komaeda (aka tpg) and ibuki
floormates who are also dating main housemates and basically live in their apartment: akane and kaede
other people dating main housemates: maki
regular visitors: chihiro, himiko, kokichi, makoto, almost everyone in sdr2 with a focus on fuyuhiko, kazuichi, and maybe sonia
premise:
all dr casts are involved + hpa is still very much intact (unfortunately) (also i haven't decided if v3 cast also went to hpa or did their own thing lol)
tpg graduated together, alongside the rest of class 77-b and the year before class 78-b
tpg are qpps! platonic partners forever and ever
tpg decided to room with ibuki (much against their will at first since ibuki just needed to place to stay in between gigs but komaeda and ibuki had gotten closer so now she has occupied what was originally just a storage room for tpg)
they live in a 3 bedroom apartment in a skyrise building in the city (room 314 baybeyyy)
komahina share a room with each other while chiaki and ibuki have their own rooms respectively :]
relationships:
main couples: komahina, chikaemaki, miowari
other couples of importance: oumeno and naehiro
besties for the resties: tpg, chiaki + chihiro + himiko, komaeda + ibuki, kuzuhinasouda
komahina reconciled their differences nearing the end of their last term at hpa and took a shot at dating post grad before deciding to move in together a few years into their relationship
(chikaemaki origin story in the works) but chiaki was involved in komahina's plans to move in together in order to 'minimize rent costs' (they did not minimize rent costs) (not that they really needed to lol thank you old schmoney)
kaede lives in the same building as the main housemates and visits regularly! just not as often as akane because she's attached to her piano. chiaki spends as much time in her room as she does in kaede's apartment as they do a lot of parallel play ❤️ maki fucks off regularly for work trips and/or studies abroad though so piano tiles (chiaki and kaede) spend time together with her online gaming because e-daters (derogatory)
ibuki started seeing and dating akane after meeting again a high school reunion so now akane basically lives there (her apt is on the same floor but she's always in room 314 anyway)
oumeno and naehiro are high school sweethearts from their respective high schools ^___^ it did take oumeno longer to figure their shit out though LMFAO
occupations:
to be developed! i did not think that far ahead lol
the au itself takes place a few years after their intended hs graduation so they're all in their early 20s, but i'm not sure if i want them all to be in college / only some of them to be in college / all to be employed (part and/or full time) / etc
i think the only occupations i'm somewhat confident about are: ibuki (part-time singer-songwriter), chiaki (part-time streamer), and komahina are both currently in school working with hajime working part-time and komaeda as his stay-at-home wife (joke joke this is a joke don't k word me ty)
extras:
kaede's hs best friends are rantaro and shuichi who both visit occasionally
maki's hs best friends are kaito (visits occasionally) and himiko (always there)
himiko's hs best friend is angie (lives overseas)
i think apt 314 should have some pets. for funsies <3
🍓🐶🦔 i will keep adding to this post and changing things as i see fit :3 thanks for tuning in if you actually took the time to read this LOL 🍓🎼🔪

How do you imagine a post game domestic shinsai au? Like, how would their dynamic work? Would they live together or visit eachother a lot?
oh i do have an au i like to roll around in my head for a post-canon shinsai au where the killing game was a simulation, but their pre-game personalities are non-restorable, giving actual weight to entering such a competition.
i hadn’t done much actual worldbuilding aside from what’s in my head, but i think this sort of setting would definitely hit kiyo the hardest (not as much his reality and past being fabricated as much as his sister not having been real), and i imagine he’d spend the longest time being hospitalized past the killing game out of all the contestants. in this au they’d be entitled to at least surface level medical care after returning to reality, and i think for the others it would take a while to readjust but. much much longer for kiyo to gain even a semblance of normalcy. let alone to not be an active hazard to his own health.
he'd stay in contact with shuichi after he remains his only visitor long-term (the setting is again, post the free time events, so shuichi is his closest friend out of the bunch) and they remain in contact once he's discharged. kiyo has very little to his name at this point, and not much of a family to talk about, with his freshly scrambled mental health making it near impossible to hold down a steady job. he eventually ends up crashing at shuichi's apartment temporarily, which grows into more of a flatmates situation as he starts picking up the pieces.
on shuichi's end, he has to come to terms with the person he was BEFORE the killing game, and the possibility that team danganronpa actually made him an objectively better person than he'd been on the outside. that includes trying to find out who he was before through an impressive online backlog as well as second-hand accounts and a frustratingly distant, if financially supportive family. he must also come to terms with the fact that most of the others seem to be moving on easier than him - largely having spent less time in the killing game to begin with -, and the fact that maybe taking on kiyo as a fix-it project is not entirely a selfless endeavor as much as an attempt of some sort of control.
so they uhh. live together. it's very hurt comfort and they both have a rough time coping with the outside world. at some point they do fall in love and they are a good influence on each other. kiyo is on every psych med ever and they are also both niche internet microcelebrities.

you: Ok but what if v3 was actually broadcasted me: they would not livestream it to the public, not with their name attached to it, at least you: They use Junko’s old twitch account “How did you even get the password for that???” “Tsumugi is very dedicated” me: but I still feel like they'd want to keep it secret & maybe reveal it if they succeeded, maybe still keep their method secret, because they don't want people to know if they fuck it up, but even more immediately, they don't want people to believe they failed to protect the Ultimates in the meantime Yin: oooo and this is how the parents learn what's happening to their kids! they didn't broadcast the other 49 but they broadcasted this one! "you used MY SON AS A BACKUP SHUICHI?!?!?! and made him PARTICIPATE IN 49 OTHER KILLING GAMES?!?!!" you: And even then if things go too terribly they could easily just blame it on the remnants me: the Remnants they have supposedly taken down during DR3? you: “Oh noooooo the remnants escaped and kidnapped some kids! In their desperate attempt to appease the late Junko they recreated her killing game with these innocent NHPA students!” me: if they blame the fanatic stragglers it makes them seem useless, if they blame the main RoDs it reveals a previous cover-up, if they claim the project as theirs there'll be huge backlash and then doubled, tripled when it doesn't even succeed. I assumed "taken down" means killed. you: They can be vague if it fits the story me: but why would they want to make it public from the start? it causes those complications for them you: Don’t worry about it guys (I don't think I'll listen to that)
firedemongaming: The irony that they tried to make Shuichi the ultimate hope and had Rantaro as a back-up, but neither of them were actually the ones to become the ultimate hope, it was canonically Kii-bo
Nanami anon: “The Remnants of Despair are not a threat anymore” [16 years later] “So um. About the Remnants of Despair…” One overworked PR employee sobbing in the background
Yin: to show off "LOOK WE MADE A NEW ULTIMATE HOPE!" "and how did you do that?" "uhhh no comment" me: that's what would happen if they only made a reveal after succeeding, otherwise people will know HOW and that's an issue Yin: shrug maybe they livestreamed accidentally instead of video lol me: just. accidentally making a several weeks long stream without realizing you:Oopsie woopsie someone accidentally hit start stream
firedemongaming: Branch 14 is PR, Branch 14 is the branch naegirigami belongs to. The pr team is definitely not helping them this time XD I was explaining what branch 14 is in canon. I'm aware Byakuya and Kyoko aren't in it anymore in the AU. Doesn't change the fact that they pissed off their PR team AND their mascot Nanami anon: The project heads poached one (1) member of branch 14 to help with this. It’s not going well Yin: ......they purposely pissed off their PR team? lol me: the person, supposed to click "record" got distracted by seeing Makoto trip, clicked stream instead Nanami anon: … midway through V3 Makoto hosts a press conference since they kicked him out of the observation room. The FF is FUCKED
firedemongaming: Is it the eggman callout post of shadow? Nanami anon: Makoto: I'M WRITING A CALLOUT ON MY TWITTER DOT COM firedemongaming: 'BUT I'M GOING HIGHER! I'M PISSING ON THE MOOOOOOON!' you: “I'VE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT THE FUTURE FOUNDATION IS FULL OF BITCH ASS MOTHERFUCKERS”
firedemongaming: long story short. FF is overthrown. The people try to install Makoto as emperor. Makoto has to quickly find legitimate reasons to convince them not to. Byakuya is just in the background 'do it coward' Yin: Makoto: I appoint my husband as emperor as I think he can do it better than I can Togami: oh I know I can do it better firedemongaming: 'i know I can do it better. But I'm not about to steal the glory from you. I'm more than happy to be a shadow ruler from the sidelines' Yin: Makoto: I don't want the glory! I want to be a house husband! you do it! me: Togami proceeds to dismantle FF into several smaller organizations with less power to avoid that shit happening ever again, like, sorry, but we can't have one organization that's above the law and does whatever they want because they're saviors if society is ever to properly recover firedemongaming: 'instead we'll install this one family that's above the law and does whatever they want because their family heads are saviours' me: no, no, he doesn't stay as the leader of all of them firedemongaming: I was making a joke about the emperor bit
... but I still think about the logic of immediately trying to fill up the position of absolute power when it's being taken down, why is this actually a realistic thing people would do. Eh, on to the next bomb in your askbox
Love me some sonic snap cube duo references

I know Phantom Thief AU have this sort of formula but who cares, film noir phantom thief Saiouma AU. Where Shuichi is a detective and Kokichi as his secretary and they solve crimes together but in the darkest hour, Kokichi as the Phanton thief, toys with Shuichi as their conflicting yet very similar ideals come to play. Shuichi has a crush on his secretary and a deep seeded need to outplay the thief at his game. So like Sherliam but at the same time Johnlock when they hang out. Is there a fic where it's like that, please?
(EDIT: Shuichi already knew that Kokichi was the thief when unspecting him more closely but still played along)

Yuumori Sherliam Roomates AU because I'm bored (Dont take this seriously)
-An AU which Liam and Louis got transferred to an orphanage near the Holmes Family Estate.
-Liam gets a job to provide for Louis but meets Sherlock instead.
-Immediately smitten to one another, Sherlock helps Liam on his problem and evetually save Louis. (Also they grew up together and he basically changes his mindset and want to live with Sherlock to make the world better.)
-Mycroft gets the government job and a lot of money to send Sherlock to Oxford but he also helped Liam go to Eton because of his position. (Then had a rivalry with OG William but we all know our boy Liam can beat his ass.)
-Louis basically third wheels with them but has his own adventures as well.
-Eventually gets a job and visits Liam from time to time.
-After years of long distance relationship, Sherlock graduates and buys his flat at 221b Baker St. But he needs money to keep on paying rent so John enters the picture.
-Both were nearly kicked out by Miss Hudson before Liam suddenly announces he'll move in with Sherlock. (She was grateful that Sherlock has someone who can prevent him from killing everyone from his experiments.)
-He got all the money from his teaching back from Durham.
-Sherlock immediately welcomes Liam to his flat and made John the third wheel to their weird rendevous with Louis occasionally trying to seperate Sherliam.
-They do couple stuff like going on dates, helping a bunch of kids, and solving almost impossible brutal murders as a treat.
-John eventually marries Mary and Sherliam gets to be married next because they got the bouquet.
-This AU is basically Sherliam Domestic Bliss who are married. It's also a side story for my AU where Mycroft and Albert are the main characters.

John giving Sherlock advice on getting a date with a random nobleman
John: What did you do?
Sherlock: I broke my hand trying to break the ice. How about I try two guns?
John: Look, you tried and you failed. So, the lesson here is, there are plenty of fishes in the sea...
Sherlock: :)
John: but some of those fish will die alone...
Sherlock: What?
John: or get eaten by bears.
Sherlock: You know what maybe I shouldn't try so hard. He's just a person like me and I'm charming enough. I'll talk to him.
John: Stop hyping yourself up.
Sherlock, leaving: Thanks John, wish me luck!
John: *gets the guns Sherlock was holding*Give me the guns, first.
Sherlock: Hi... I'm Sherlock Holmes.
The random nobleman: Hi I'm- *gets shoot in the face*
(Turns out the party was a trap to lure in all the corrupt noblemen and murder them all.)
Liam, about shoot another one: Any last words?
John: Don't worry, I can save the day! *gets to guns but throws it rather feebly at Sherlock* Good luck!
Sherlock and Liam: *has each other at gun point*
A few seconds of silence...
Sherlock: Hey! You do know you're breaking the law.
Liam: ...
Sherlock: And you're under arrest for being that hot.
(Romantic music plays as the two started making out in front of everyone while John is happy for his best friend.)

Liam: Speak English.
Albert: Oh my God, ask him if he wants to go to dinner with us.
Sherlock: I'd love to!

ok NOW I have time to talk about the v3 ending for a second and why the popular belief that the audition tapes were real is one of the most baffling things to me. don’t get me wrong, ‘pregame’ has the capacity to be an interesting au if done correctly, and there’s fun to be had with it, but the writing in the game does not actually encourage you to believe in its existence and it’s so odd to me that it’s taken as hard fast canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, actually, you technically can check. I think this is the writing deliberately encouraging the player to revisit the prologue and see that the way tsumugi described it happening in the trial is not actually what happened.
Tumblr media
number two, they claim that the prologue of the story began after they got their costume changes, which is also obviously not true. it started when they came out of the lockers in their ordinary school uniforms. (seems like tsumugi is indirectly trying to divert attention away from that point that the player has access to, claiming that it is not part of the story.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
shuichi specifically flashbacks to this moment. they go on for like three minutes talking about how everything tsumugi said could’ve been bs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they literally end on that note of shuichi refusing to believe they auditioned, and very ambiguously too. they didn’t actually give anyone any incentive to believe what happened during the trial–in fact, they encouraged otherwise.
amidst all the ambiguity, the only lead the game really gives you is the one that tells you to replay the prologue to confirm where the characters can’t. the attention drawn to this particular inconsistency between the prologue and the final trial feels very purposeful, not to mention shuichi’s lack of belief towards it. the difference is glaringly apparent. like I said, it draws attention.
Tumblr media
of course, they don’t resolve it at all and the whole game ends on a big maybe, but again, the only lead they give the player is revisiting the prologue. they want you to see how it’s inconsistent. the truth is not supposed to be set in stone.
there were a couple other things I wanted to mention.
one, prior to being refitted as ultimates in the prologue, all of the characters remembered being kidnapped. if they had willingly signed up for the killing game, why in the world would they need to be kidnapped? why would all of them seem so confused about what’s happening if they had knowingly auditioned for danganronpa? if they’d already had their memories wiped at that point to prepare them for new memories, why let them remember that they were kidnapped? it seems very convenient for tsumugi that nobody remembers anything from before they transformed into ultimates… but the player does.
Tumblr media
even tsumugi’s explanation of the prologue flashback makes very little logical sense. if all of them really were fans of danganronpa in some regard, they would probably know right away that they were going to appear on the show; there wouldn’t be any room for confusion. if tsumugi’s account was even accurate in the slightest, and there was somehow some dialogue that was obstructed from the player during the prologue, it seems infeasible that it would take them so long to realize what was happening because they would have suspected it the moment they woke up in a dark, mysterious school and were asked to gather at the gym.
not to mention, why the heck would they show kaede and kaito’s audition tapes and not maki and himiko’s–y’know–the two other people that were actually there? it’s like this “evidence” was handpicked for the protagonist… oh wait.
two, ever since I noticed the implication that maki is not affected by flashback lights, it puts a whole new perspective on every story she tells in the game and even her placement and purpose in the killing game itself. I feel like this theory speaks for itself, especially when you take into account maki’s story about going to a convention (tsumugi in her natural habitat) to kill a target, and failing.
Tumblr media
three, kinda.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all three of their school uniforms in their audition tapes are distinctly inconsistent with their sprites.
after I noticed shuichi’s, I was about to pass this off as another dumb artistic mistake, but then I checked kaede’s and kaito’s and found the same exact thing.
let me point them out if you can’t see them very well: shuichi has 3 buttons on his uniform, not 2, kaede has 1 stripe on her uniform and not 2, and kaito’s buttons are black on his shirt in his sprite and rather ordinary in the audition tape. also, shuichi’s shoes look light brown, even though they kinda match his hair on the sprite. the inside of kaito’s jacket collar is also white on the sprite, while it isn’t in the tape.
… I really wish I could say this is a striking observation and all, and possibly even intended to be proof that the tapes were fake, but also… I’ve made a post about the art inconsistencies in this game before. I failed to notice this one at the time, but v3 is not known for the quality and consistency of its art. a couple of kaede’s prologue cgs show her with two stripes as well. heck, the one of her being kidnapped up there is one of them. when I realized that all three of the audition tapes had inconsistencies with the official character designs, I got my hopes up a little… but we can’t win ‘em all, huh.
anyway, long story short, the epilogue implies one thing: it’s that 1) the prologue is different from how tsumugi explained it, 2) the player has the power to revisit it to confirm this, and 3) the game wants you to revisit it to confirm this, deliberately drawing attention to the incongruity of the two tales. the version of the prologue that the players see is not part of tsumugi’s grand story. last of all… it’s just my own theory about the game itself, but I think tsumugi was full of shit and the players were never supposed to take what she said as the simple truth to begin with, especially due to the narrative encouragement to distrust it.
it’s clear that the game planned for ambiguity and multiple interpretations and reception, thanks to all the ‘maybes’ it ends on… but isn’t it so strange that fans seem more willing to trust tsumugi’s contradictory account rather than the distrust of the main characters that has so much attention drawn to it? nobody knows what’s in the outside world… and that’s the point.

Hi, I just liked a bunch of your danganronpa art, sorry if it's bothersome. I was wondering about your post-game v3 art with the kids in hospital wear, including those that died. Is there a story/headcanon behind that?
Its no bother!! I love when people ask about my aus :,DD (long ramble incoming alskfjd)
The short answer for that drawing is that drv3 was a simulation, they all survived, and are recovering in a hospital (mentally and physically) before being released; thus forcing the characters all together and yay hijinks and angst. I feel like Kokichi, Korekiyo, and Angie would be an interesting dynamic because they were the most antagonistic forces in the game (beside the mastermind, of course), and they could be pushed together because of that. It'd be really awkward as say, Korekiyo to try and get along with a survivor who beat the mastermind, but getting along with kokichi, who did a lot of awful stuff? yeah, neither party can really judge too hard there lol. Also they deserve to heal :,3 let them have friends PLEASE DR IM BEGGIN- yeah.
To be honest though, that drawing isn't about a specific au, more the idea of which drv3 characters would interact post-game. But I do have a few post-game au's I like to play around with for drv3; because as much as I love the ambiguous ending more focused on relaying a (pretty cool) message, I also love to theorize about how everything actually happened, (especially because the danganronpa world and its mechanics is very intriguing to me lol).
One head canon I like is that Tsumugi was lying. Or at least, stretching the truth a bit. There are a few dialogue and story hints that kind of point at this, but nothing too concrete. The point is to doubt all the truths the game tells you, why would the ending be any different? So essentially the tragedy, hopes peak, that stuff did happen. Danganronpa is kind of an offshoot of despair; a weird fanbase that sprouted from the original worldwide broadcast of the dr1 killing game. Imagine how awful it would be to open a tv and see a bunch of teens killing each other, yet how invigorating and (dare I say) hopeful to see them beat the cause of the literal end of the world. So maybe, in a twisted sense, danganronpa became a way to connect with that. To see hope triumph over despair. And as time went on, (remembering there are at least 51 games), it became more of a commodity. Who knows what the outside world is like now? Maybe danganronpa does have a wide audience. Yet as Shuichi says, it's actually an awful thing, a repeating cycle doomed to kill. I don't know; there's a lot of ways you could explain the reasoning behind said games. But, I do think that it was somehow virtual. Like, come on. The "flash back lights" and the "magic items" that somehow build architecture instantly, its all things that sdr2 used to really hit home how different the atmosphere was from the first game, because of its virtual (and thus almost limitless) nature. So at the end, they wake up, and.... yeah they're still probably with the Danganronpa group. And said group probably would not be pleased with them, especially the survivors, because they wrecked their (profitable) show!! rude. Another thing to grapple with is how much of their backstories were fabricated, and how much was fact, so you can sprinkle in some identity crisis throughout this timeline lol.
Theres a few ways you can go from here; from making future foundation/the previous casts of characters interfere and rescue them, making danganronpa a more small, despair rooted group, or the drv3 cast can even infiltrate/fight danganronpa themselves! Or they can just go out and live their lives to the best of their abilities, heal and all that :,). I don't know, there is lots fo ways you can take this. I'm kind of writing/drawing stuff for an au along this vein currently, too!
Another detail I would like to add is my personal head canons for Tsumugi and Rantaro specifically: I strongly suspect that Tsumugi herself was a previous contestant in drv2, Rantaro's game. The reason for this is the 2 person survivor rule that Monokuma mentions. At the end of drv3, there are technically 4 survivors not including the mastermind. Kiibo, Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko. Both Kiibo and Maki offer to sacrifice themselves so that Shuichi and Himiko can live according to Monokuma's rules. But Monokuma doesn't really say what actually will happen to them. I like to think that perhaps in drv2, Tsumugi and Rantaro were either the only survivors, or that they volunteered to sacrifice themselves for two other classmates. Monokuma could then justify a punishment for that being they both have to enter the next killing game, brainwashing or somehow convincing tsumugi to mastermind and giving Rantaro a survivors perk. I don't know, just something I usually keep in mind when I think about post game drv3 aus. Tsumugi could be such a compelling character no matter her motivations, and I will be eternally sad that drv3 didn't put much effort into giving her that, or even using her effectively in the plot much before the reveal. Also, I think cospox is kinda stupid, and something Tsumugi either made up or exaggerated, because really. I can suspend my disbelief but it would be so much cooler if she was just using that as an excuse. If you must take it into account however, I like to think there is a possibility tsumugi herself thought that the dr1 and sdr2 games were fiction, and that was why this was justified. food for thought I guess.
All my opinions of course, and I could go on but this is already kinda too long, and includes many tangents rip. I just love theorizing about this series so much!! alsdkjf thanks for the ask, hope I answered your question lol :,3

May I ask..... what is in your post game V3? I dunno how to ask this without sounding weird.
HM!!!!!!!!! GOOD QUESTION;;
I mostly only have braincells for Kiyo and Angie so not a lot of my thoughts are straying from that unfortunately LMAO, I was able to branch off a bit answering this though so thank you for indirectly helping me develop more!!
But I like to think it's the same scenario as the second game where it was all just a simulation. I know what I fantasize about is a VR AU and that "postgame" tends to refer to the survivors but literally none of my favorites survived so reality can be whatever I want: postgame Shinnaga is so canon it's unreal!! I'm sure there's probably a VR fic for them somewhere out there in the world, I wouldn't know because I suck at reading fhdjfk, but I would love to write my own someday HEH
-------------------------
They'd all wake up one by one as they die and end up all in the same facility where they're taken care of by the Danganronpa team, unable to leave until they’re well again due to the contracts they signed prior to playing-- Meaning Angie wakes up, Tenko wakes up a few hours later, Kiyo another few hours later, etc. Angie jumps back pretty quick from things so she'd be already VERY excited to see Kiyo*  after watching the trial, mostly because Angie like immediately caught onto what his sister really was to him (HINT: CONTROLLING AND AWFUL) and yelling at her screen saying "GOD WILL SMITE YOU ALL FOR PICKING ON THE WEAK" at everyone just calling him some incestuous freak during the trial. Angie does have genuinely incredible intuition (thanks god!) so she looks past the fact he murdered her Scarily Fast. Everyone would definitely mistrust and hate Angie even more as she tries to preach to them afterwards about Kiyo and how they need to forgive him since he’s a victim and God (most important opinion) already forgave him, but no one ever listened to her anyway especially postgame so it’s all in vain 😔
*whom might take a bit to wake up and fully acclimate again because...idk this man was boiled alive that's kinda Fucked I think all the executed would take longer to wake up because they went through more lengthy + traumatic deaths I guess? This just means even more time for Angie to sit on her thoughts about what happened to her+Kiyo yuh yuh
Everyone becomes a mix of their pregame selves and the identities they were given, they'd end up being mediocre/average (sometimes bad) at what their handpicked talent was but a lot of them still keep up doing it until they DO become good again. A very small amount of them try to replicate their killing game outfits and kinda live off the high of being what they once were and accomplished in their fake memories, like Miu and Himiko. (this also makes me think about Irumeno a bit more 👀) Pretty much every single one of them in pregame saw themselves as nothing, being disposable enough to be in a killing game (even if it turns out to be virtual), so the new identities would overpower the mix for the most part since they’re the more intensified and dramaticized personality--IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE LOL.
--Angie absolutely never stopped her art and has a less intense view on Religion, since garnering more experiences in life she’s just be less intense in general I'd think; more open with her emotions in that she'd actually cry, but still very manic and bubbly and optimistic nonetheless. After getting help (mostly from Kiyo who deals with the same thing), Angie is able to differentiate her thoughts and desires from “God”’s thoughts and desires, YEA she still has a funky little friend in her head. She's not AS pushy especially not with her equally traumatized fellow killing game participants but she still absolutely gets her moments of intensity and assertiveness now and then if she thinks something God is telling her is absolute truth and for the betterment of everyone: she is still Angie afterall, truly believing everyone would be much happier with her God in their lives but having enough self-restraint to know everyone will just push her away further if she tries to help them in that regard. She has her moments of desperation but most everyone’s too far gone from her already.
--Korekiyo is such a complicated one--I do like to think of pregame Kiyo as transfem/nonbinary and that would partially stick into his postgame identity in some way...killing game Kiyo was Just A Dude but after becoming the mix of the two identities he'd be VERY confused, especially with the influence of his (simulated) sister's influence. (genderfluid time? :)) He'd have varying degrees of when his...sister...alter...thing...comes out, or is present in his head in any regard, she'd be gone or slowly disappearing from his mind for months at a time and he'd initially be extremely unstable about it because he feels extremely isolated and lost when he can’t talk to her, but he's got Angie by his side so he becomes significantly less stressed about it over time, learning to cope with it. Eventually he finds himself no longer dependent on sister and...has to learn a SECOND time to not be unhealthily dependent; on Angie this time. (funky little idea I’ve been wanting to draw/write about sometime...hnnrngm) They’re both miracle workers when it comes to each other’s mental health it’s kinda insane. Of course, after realizing that Sister never really existed, he harbors near-immediate guilt for having murdered Angie and Tenko once he’s alone with his thoughts, not being puppeteered by sister, realizing everything he ever did he did for HER and realizing how fucked it all was pretty quickly--he does crave interacting with his victims in a positive and healing light but he’s sort of traumatized by it all to the point he is TERRIFIED when they’re around him at first.
--Tenko ends up EVEN MORE protective and grudgeful after she wakes up, trying to shield everyone and everything from most of the blackened, absolutely makes Kiyo manage to feel like even worse shit when he's got 1 extremely supportive and loving woman he killed and 1 extremely spiteful woman he killed who might legitimately murder him in return if he’s not careful. Tenko never makes amends with Angie and becomes close with Himiko (who's close with Gonta despite Tenko's wishes (she hates him for killing Miu, local woman)), managing to keep Himiko far far away from Angie, not only for "stealing" Himiko in the Student Council but also for the fact Angie's glued to Kiyo's side--making her the second least trustworthy person to Tenko..
--Himiko is very traumatized after the game due to surviving all the way til the end, likely making her (along with Shuichi+Maki) very disillusioned and lost--unable to decipher anything from fiction or reality--it takes a long time for Himiko to really “accept” anything; tried to cling to both Tenko and Angie but ends up just stuck on Tenko, mourning the loss of her friendship with Angie while doing so. Himiko would probably be shoved away from Gonta at first as well, but Tenko felt a lot more confident in Gonta so after a long while of her aggressively trying to teach him manners and keeping an emotional deathgrip on him whenever he wants to interact with Himiko, they’d end up close friends again. Still thinking about Irumeno-- Also with the whole ~~Survivor Delusions~~ thing, I think that helps play into Himiko’s attachment and insistence to keep up her old magician identity, because she has a very hard time trying to tell what’s real n fake ykno, and it takes her a while to realize she doesn’t have her talent anymore; absolutely ending in tearful breakdowns and unending determination to find herself again by forcibly trying to improve and push herself to her limits.
For the most part Kiyo and Angie are outcasted from everyone else, a lot of that being due to Tenko's preaching but...also everyone just doesn't understand what actually happened to Kiyo and they are all deathly worried about Angie, but not enough to get themselves involved; they're scared of Angie too, afterall, not as much as they're scared of Kiyo but ykno-- They think her naivety and determination to “fix him” is going to get her murdered again, every day they’re just counting down the minutes until it happens again. (spoiler alert: it doesn’t)
I could ABSOLUTELY go off more but I really have to end this at some point so fhdsjkfds--
TLDR;; Angie (and God alter) forgive Kiyo almost immediately. Sister alter likes to disappear sometimes making Kiyo sad and unfortunately dependent on Angie. Both Kiyo + Angie help each other heal and recover from their issues. Tenko hates both Kiyo + Angie with a passion and protectively forbids Himiko from seeing either of them. Himiko is close friends with Tenko and Gonta and Maybe More with Miu.

WE’RE OUT HERE ive done some headcanons, but here’s an au for you and some other thoughts. (uhhhh… let’s go with Lavender)
every day thinkin about v3-sdr2 talentswap Detective!Chiaki, Astronaut!Sonia, and Assassin!Gundham.
-Sonia’s leadership skills on full display!!! She gets to bond and talk to her classmates more, especially Gundham and Chiaki.
-Sonia and Chiaki are OBVS gay. Look at them. There’s no heterosexual explanation.
-Love the idea that Sonia and Gundham still connect fairy quick. That way, the assassin reveal is more “Even though you hid things, I still trust you! And to prove it to you and everyone, I’m still gonna try and hang out with you and even get you and my homosexual girlfriend to hang out!”
-Plus Gundham and Chiaki potential friendship dynamic is always so fun to think of. I just think they vibe together.
-Chiaki likes fictional mysteries more than real ones. She finds them less complicated, but this does cause her to think in terms of the killing game more often. If it’s all clear cut and morally simple, it’s a lot easier. But alas.
-Also decided that Gundham still has that scar on his eye, but it’s for sure real now. He first claims it’s from a kid with scissors. Post-reveal he says it’s from a botched mission. Who knows the truth? (hint: it’s the first one)
-Other relevant swaps include! Pianist!Hajime and ???!Nagito, for that extra layer to chapter 1. Also Peko gets Kokchi’s talent. She deserves it. She can be the rival character this time. As a treat.
-ALSO IN GENERAL. I think Gundham would be real good with kids. He out here lar as an evil wizard every day for funsies. Kids love that shit theyd eat it up.
-I just think Kaito and Sonia would get along. They’d be besties. They have a fair amount in common. Smarter than they’re given credit for, good leadership skills, very friendly with a desire to believe in everyone, a tendancy to maybe on occasion think they know better and can handle things alone.
YES YES TALENTSWAP
ult astronaut sonia is so good!!!!!! aaaaaaa!! thinking abt her raving about space is so sweet!!! she'd be so passionate and exciteddd omg her and kaito are such positive and strong forces it works so well (and yes, wow they would be rly good friends)
AUGH sonia and chiaki kaito-and-shuichi-like friendship!! sonia's so supportive of her and she believes in her and she stands up for her and aaaaAAAAAAAA
ult assassin gundham is GREAT omgomg he's infinitely more intimidating and everyone is scared of him. but sonia and chiaki are willing to give him a chance and trust him
detective chiaki is also super good cuz she's super smart. i feel like investigations and trials, she'd spend a really long time thinking things through and ppl would be like "youre the ult detective, we need answers quick!!" and they'd overwhelm her and sonia and gumdham would step in and defend her like "step down! chiaki owes you nothing!" and "her genius simply takes time. in the meantime, why dont you cretins make yourself useful and stay out of her way"
oUhGH nagito and hajime being the first to die 😔 and YES!!!! PEKO ANTAG I L O V E IT (this au keeps getting better and better im so pumped)

Alternative Chapters 3 & 4 of v3
Cute idea for how to promote a friend's AU: airing how I made them cry with my suggestions when they asked for ideas
Read Vespertin-y's Clockwise talent swap AU https://vespertin-y.tumblr.com/post/721299444787740672/clockwise-talentswap-lore-pt-1
Ves: ack. what do i dooooo for the ch3 motive i cant just use the necronomicon again can i
that depends, who do you want to act on a motive?
Sini: Kirumi or Gonta would probably make good chapter 3 culprits in my opinion
Ves: kirumi is the ch1 killer. gonta...oooh i haven't decided how to handle the survivor/adventurer thing with him yet. maybe survivor but it's for surviving the wilderness instead of dr??? ough i ought to get rid of himiko at some point for tenko angst purposes
Himiko could be the collateral second kill of ch3
Ves: yeah…maybe she just walked in on body hiding shenanigans? ohhhh tenko would be SO mad YOU KILL HER ALMOST-GIRLFRIEND AND NOT EVEN FOR A GOOD REASON THE AUDACITY
just what I had in mind
Sini: That cute moment between her and Gonta at the end of chapter 3? Yeah, forget that here
Ves: i think that i will let artist kiyo throttle anthropologist mugi with a garotte wire. as a treat. revenge for a past life i quite LIKE anthropologist mugi but what can ya do
Sini: Keep it to two victims and two culprits >: )
Ves: wouldn't gonta be SO fun as a survived killer though…hmm i am going to make all of kokichi's favorite people into murderers and bully him into not viewing the world so black and white
Sini: Your bestie is a murderer? Well, he’s still alive. What you gonna do about that? What do you think of that, huh?
Ves: your bestie is a murderer so is ur boyfriend HITS U WITH NUANCE STICK
okay, so Kiyo kills Tsumugi, perhaps frames Himiko like he tried to in canon, and Gonta accidentally kills her in a confrontation?
either early in the investigation, or Himiko first found the body and was seen running away by Gonta (aka Hyioko being the main suspect in ch2 of sdr2 type beat)
Gonta doesn't mean to hurt anyone, but. He's stronger than he thinks and Himiko was freaking out since to her, he might as well have been the killer, she hasn't seen anyone else out and about either so she'd try to get away from him
so it'd be just like knocking out Shuichi in canon, except, well.
Ves: that's so SAD fuckkk gonta :((((( tenko would lose. her. mind.
still rotating the possibilities of what Kiyo's in-game motive could be, I want to say that it's still a crime of passion, Tsumugi does piss him off with something
Ves: making him lose control of his own strength like that is the meanest thing ive ever heard. i might change it to him accidentally chasing himiko somewhere dangerous bc that's SO sad ACK I ALREADY DID THE ACCIDENTAL TRIPPING MURDER IN CH2 THOUGH WAILS yeag i haven't quite figured kiyo out yet… i think strangulation works better with a premeditated crime, what with him coming up behind her…but the clay cutting wire WAS just sitting around in his lab. hrm. mb she angie's herself by coming across him plotting a crime, that seems like the easiest option and i do want moogi to be an observer-type character, always watching in the background
maybe she gets too nosy not really on accident, too much accidents around here she ends up knowing too much not a plan, but a secret, a motive to get out, personal, and she wants the tea, it's scorching hot, you're going to burn yourself, Tsumugi
snhdfghf yeah…got too silly [pensive emoji] she just wanted to knowwww she's a little Too fascinated by people and with someone with as many secrets as korekiyo that is Not a friendly trait oh maybe that's the motive!! secrets, like in thh ch2
Ch4
so the deaths are ch1: Maki, Kirumi ch2: Ryoma, Miu ch3: Tsumugi, Korekiyo, Himiko ch4:??? ch5: Angie, Shuichi ch6: Kaito plot armour: Kiibo, Tenko, Kokichi
Kaede and Rantaro, is it fate? the only other option is Gonta
Ves: AH FUCK HOW DID I DO THAT BY ACCIDENT
congratulations
Tumblr media
I mean, you could Sakura Gonta since he's definitely not doing fine
but Kaede doing nothing for the whole game is a little ooc, girlie takes the matters in her own hands
boy's not coping after ch3 either way
Ves: i was looking through my past randomizers and found a ch5 where kaede kills himiko after being tricked into thinking she's the mastermind…i could move that up to ch4. but why himiko..
Himiko's dead already tho
Ves: idk i haven't committed to that yet,,tricking kaede into thinking rantarou is the mastermind feels. cliche
what if she thinks Gonta is the mastermind since he got away with murder
Ves: what kind of fucking machine would bbygirl have to build to take out GONTA poisonous insects???
she's just setting up a trap still, a wrong person could walk in it, she sets it up at Gonta's lab but Rantaro walks in for something
Ves: NOT AGAIN [sob emoji] THAT'S SO FUNNY ACTUALLY SHSL UNLUCKY RANTAROU REAL
yes, she releases something venomous in his lab, little buggie just wanders off
or it does get Gonta, cause. He would be so devastated when he finds out that he was the one supposed to die. Literally so much worse for him than dying
Ves: HOW DID THIS WHOLE THING TURN INTO GONTA BULLYING I CAN'T HAVE HIM ACCIDENTALLY KILL SOMEONE AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DIE IN HIS PLACE THAT'S OBSCENE my poor son [sob emoji]
back to Sakura arc, he finds out about the attempt without anybody getting hurt
Ves: i'll figure it out in the shower probably update: i took a shower and didn't figure it out [pensive emoji]
Sini: Maybe keep the idea of Gonta killing Himiko and Kaede killing Gonta, and then have Rantaro die because he broke the rules in some way? You could pull a Mukuro on him
I got another idea too, what if Rantaro kills Kaede if you were to use the card key motive again, what if he gets ahold of it, frustrated just like others with Angie insisting they just don't use it and stay there forever when it could be an exit or used to reveal mastermind's identity, so he steals it from her and finds out about the end of the world, so he snaps, "we should have died with everyone" kind of thing, Kaede is the easiest target to start with (if Himiko is already out) since she's weaker than him and trusting (unlike Ouma)
Sini: What if….You mixed the two? Like, Kaede is the one in Rantaro’s place, whose character throughout the game has been kind of regressing as time has gone on. Growing more pessimistic and untrusting. She would also be eager to know if the key could reveal the mastermind’s identity in any way, since she’s been looking for them since day one and growing more paranoid and bitter about it. Once the key card motive is revealed, she steals it from Angie and parallels Gonta in that she believes the others should all die. She could still kill Gonta because she finds him suspicious, and if he’s not, then he’s actually a pretty easy target to lure. She also might want to kill him because she believes it’s what he deserves after what he did (in that case, the character regression would be very real). Or, she could go full Gonta, and believe killing Gonta is best because he was the nicest of the group and has already gone through sm pain that he deserves to die first/not through execution. I feel like Kaede would definitely be the type to take the burden of living if she had to
having more time in the game Kaede's whole preaching cooperation and trust would slowly crumble away, seeing how in canon she was trying to reassure herself as much as the others at the start and failed to, coming to conclusion that she needs to do something herself, that Shuichi's plan is not enough, that she's not going to hope Kaito's group comes up with something. Here she had time to simmer in it and get so much worse
and I'd love to see that, let her run out of positive things to say, hang outs to distract herself with, mantras to fall asleep to and hopes that all of that was a bad dream. She can't keep waiting for something to happen and then the next thing that happens is another murder instead of the awaited rescue, to get out she is going to make it happen
guess, she was wrong when she got there, maybe you can't trust people, maybe they're all out for blood, maybe somebody else is already planning her demise
Sini: Yeah…. And there’s no point. The world is destroyed There’s no home to go back to She might as well take a chance at killing the one person she can suspect as the mastermind
she regressed so far that she reached the pg Kaede mindset, no faith in humanity, they're all capable of murder, perhaps they're there because they deserve it
Sini: YES! If even Gonta can kill…Nobody is safe. Nobody can be trusted She kills him with the poisonous bug, but the others wouldn’t know that until ways into the trial. They might think it’s classic poison. Calling back to canon chapter 4 with the poison left on the seat. Both are diversions
if they all die, then there will be no more humanity, no more cruelty, betrayal after betrayal, it'll be over
Kaede humming "no children" by mountain goats while picking out a poison to plant on the crime scene
Sini: Imagine for a moment Kaito is framed, again? Cause he’s the ultimate detective, the poison might’ve came from his lab
Sini: Also, this would hurt Kokichi sm. He’s already been questioning himself with the reveal of Gonta being the second culprit. He’s alive and he doesn’t know if he can even look at him anymore… His feelings on the matter conflicting with one another. And then to later find that he’s dead? O O F
framing Kaito is a good idea, but also what if she staged it as a suicide, really take Kokichi out of investigation with a gut punch imagine he said some shit to Gonta after the 3rd trial he'd blame himself
Sini: So I was thinking with this that maybe Rantaro doesn’t vote for Kaede in chapter 4 because if the world is really destroyed, then his sisters (if still lost in this au) are most certainly dead. However, I don’t think he would do that unless he was 100% certain that the world was destroyed. He’d have to see it for himself to truly believe, as he has his doubts on the legitimacy of all this. So what if in chapter 5, if they all see the outside world and later become depressed, TW Rantaro actually commits to killing himself? He’d do it in front of everyone so that there is no case to solve. The guilt and grief he’d feel….He’d see no point in living anymore. He might even feel guilty for not being able to be useful in preventing the murders or doing more to uncover the truth. He’d consider himself a failure in every way. Maybe he does so through breaking another rule? Again, typical Mukuro, but just done on purpose
no 4th survivor, huh
Ves, reading up after leaving for a bit:
Tumblr media
well first of all i think im never leaving you to babysit an au again. second of all AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA kaedeee :((( also rantarou :((((( also gonta :((((((- you did not leave anyone untouched huh
Sini: HEY! IT’S UP TO YOU! Rantaro doesn’t have to die, that’s just if you want to keep the survivor count the same as in canon
Ves: i think im gonna up the survivor count…maybe by making ch3 a single murder? nnnn. kaede killing gonta is sounding real good though Sini: She could still do so, just maybe it’s as simple as Gonta is an easy target and he’s the nicest so he should be spared an awful death
Ves: NSHJDBGHSGDD….she said fuck ALL YALL except for you gonta you're an angel and we're all glad you're here- i think abt the gonta&himiko scene where he asks how he can help and she tells him he radiates so much mana he can just stand there and it'll help her simply Having A Gonta Around does wonders for magic
Sini: IT DOES But man, that just reminds me how sad Gonta killing Himiko is If you make it where just Korekiyo is the culprit, maybe have him kill Himiko instead. That way we can have the Tenmiko angst, just reverse. Also, we’d get Tsumugi as a survivor, which I think has potential. Let Tsumugi have a character arc!
that would made ch4 weaker, but ig that would mean Himiko getting Angie'd since he only had a motive to kill Tsumugi?
Ves: i think maybe. do something to make gonta think of it as his fault even if he didn't directly off someone
but think about Kokichi's character arc
Ves: AH FUCK I FOROT ABT THAT maybe he kills kiyo???? no execution on a technicality bc kiyo killed first,,
then he'd get executed cause monokuma wouldn't have anyone else to execute? Like Celeste?
Ves: there wasn't the first come first serve rule in that game though "Rule #15: If two different murders by different murderers occur at the same time, only the one whose victim was found first will be the blackened." do i have to HIDE kiyo then?? what vague wording
and in ndrv3, Monokuma only introduced the rule in ch3, knowing what happened to sow distrust but Gonta wouldn't want to get away with murder, so he wouldn't hide the body
Ves: but i also wanted to have more survivors :[
Sini: Mind you, Kokichi can still have that moment to himself cause Shuichi exists. But Gonta being a killer could do wonders for his character as well. If you have it where Kiyo kills Himiko and Gonta kills Kiyo, then it’s very likely Gonta could still get executed cause he’s the only culprit left alive.
then stick the the og idea, you can save Rantaro instead of Tsumugi
Ves: so like. himiko runs away from the crime scene, gonta tries to catch her, breaks her spine like a rabbit at the vet?
nothing's going to have the same impact, this is good because it's Gonta and she isn't even the culprit and he doesn't get executed
this is what hits the spot for character arcs for Tenko, Kokichi and Kaede (her last fucking nail) and anything else would be softening the blow, that's no what DR is about, hit them with the hammers
Ves: you're right and i hate it ○| ̄|_ kokichi doesn't make up with gonta bc of his own pride and then gonta FUCKING DIES, and that feeds nicely into his forgiveness for shuuichi…i see the vision
Tumblr media
(edited by Ves)
and to finish it off, my take on the Themes in the AU:
what an interesting theme for the entire season it paints, the power struggle, having people who try to define and control you, use you for entertainment vs the abused, overcoming, getting from under the shoe SWINGING, finding ways to be their own person. Tenko's crisis would fit in nicely, and have parallels with Kaede's arc downwards. They both start as leader types that might come over a little bit too strong, Tenko loses faith in herself, Kaede loses faith in people, Tenko gives up on leading and falls in step with others, Kaede gives up on others and starts acting on her own, behind their backs. Kaede wants to make the decision for everyone that life's no longer worth it. Angie wants to decide what's best for everyone. Kaito wants to decide their lives, treating them like puppets. But their lives are their own. And true leadership is guidance, not force. Shuichi is the tragic example, showing how important having community is to be able to stand a chance against abusive authority. well, for M1-U it might be more dying on her own terms at best, would be cool if she self-destructed after getting hauled-off to the execution of found a way to make the execution go differently than Monokuma intended
Sini: Shuichi had access to community but couldn't truly be a part of it due to how Kaito controlled him. You could maybe contrast that with Kokichi who goes through a positive arc of letting people in and teaming up with others more. Him representing what a good leader could look like
it was too little, too late for Shuichi
Sini: OOOOO! YEAH! That's perfect! She died doing her own thing and by her own hands OH SHIT! That's actually really poetic. Cause in canon, Kaito is the one who died on his own and not by Monokuma's hands. Now he's the villain who got beat by his own alternative actions
Ves: haha loser get thematically reversed

✨ So, yeah, I must talk about myself in this fixed post. ✨
Tumblr media
Hello, welcome to this profile, just to talk a little about me and what I like, let's see:
I like Danganronpa as you can see, I really like this game because of my background with investigative games. (Criminal Case) and also, the characters enchant me.
My favorite Danganronpa fangame is: Danganronpa Another Despair Academy and your sequel, Super Danganronpa Another 2
My favorite Danganronpa is Danganronpa V3
my comfort character is Shuichi Saihara
My comfort character from Super Danganronpa Another 2 is Nikei Yomiuri
Even though I like research and such, I'm dumb to help, especially with codes, tips, clues, My God!
Other games I like are: Five Nights at Freddy's , Undertale, Doki Doki Literature Club, Mad Father, IB, The Crooked Man, Misao, Pico's School, Your Turn To Die, Corpse Party, Wadanohara and The Great Blue Sea, Mogeko Castle, The Gray Garden, The Witch's House, Yume Nikki, Ao Oni, OMORI, Yanderella, Mikoto Nikki, Detroit: Become Human, Life is Strange, Hello Neighbor, Baldi Basics in Education and Learning, SCP, Bendy and The ink machine, Cuphead, Sonic, Megaman, Bomberman, Super Mario Bros, King of fighters
From Your Turn To Die, I really love Jou Tazuna.
male pronouns for me
i'm simp for pretty boys and girls
I don't use it much here, I just go in to see art and go out
My Otps shipps are: Saimota (Shuichi x Kaito) and Terukei (Teruya x Nikei)
I'm not one of those hating ships, but I don't like Saioma (Shuichi x Kokichi) and Sannumiuri (Nikei x Mikado)
I tend to be ashamed to say what I ship because of stupid fights.
I just like some straight ships because I love the female character.
I always loved Yuris ships
I'm a minor
I don't know my sexuality.
I'm small
I'm Brazilian and I don't know how to write and speak a lot of English
I can leave because I don't use it much here.
Thanks for reading everything and I hope you respect me and my tastes! Maybe I will update here. ✨

Quais são os seus shipps de Danganronpa V3 até agora?!
What are your Danganronpa V3 ships so far?!
Shuichi x Kaede
Kaito x Maki
Tenko x Himiko
Shuichi x Kaito
Well, just these for now, I think. Sometimes I'm a multishipper, so, I can like anyone I find cute.
Bem, só esses por agora, eu acho. As vezes eu sou um multishipper, então, eu posso gostar de qualquer um que acho fofo.

So can I say Saimota is my Comfort ship now? Don't worry, I really like Saimatsu, but it takes second place. I respect Harumota, I also like it because of Maki, and Saimota because of Shuichi. Sorry, I see Saimatsu as best friends because of Kaede.

Kaito !!
Ahhh yes!!! My favorite space boy Kaito! 💜🚀 Apologies in advance that this is so long lol I just have a lot to say about him!
Favorite Thing About Them: how interesting of a character he is. There's a lot of layers to Kaito and he's so good at hiding them (esp in the pov of an unreliable narrator) so it's very easy to overlook those if you don't pay attention. He's fun to pick apart and analyze and explore the potential of. His hero complex might be unhealthy but it makes him all the more of an enjoyable character.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: the goatee nah maybe the toxic masculinity thing. He respects women, (canonically) but sometimes he's a little too happy to say things about how men should and shouldn't act and it's like, relax babe, it's fine. Just be yourself.
Favorite Line: Right before his death- "Alright then! Let's end this with a bang! A special punishment suited to the Luminary of the Stars!" God that's so badass lol
BrOTP: Shuichi, their friendship is so pure (and a lil gay), but I also really like the idea of him interacting with Rantaro and Kaede.
OTP: Oumota 100%. The dynamic is fire, the potential is so so interesting, theyre prob the best developed characters in v3, the narrative flows naturally when it focuses on them. Also bro, that height difference. 👌 (And I'm a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope.)
nOTP: There's none that I'm totally against really, but I guess a ship I don't fully understand is kaimaki and mainly cuz it comes off as one sided to me and also incredibly unhealthy from her pov. (Just reminds me of myself a lot and how I would "fall in love" with men just cuz they made me feel special but I didn't really love them I just loved being loved lol)
Random Headcanon: I'll give ya one of each: Pregame Kaito smokes Marlboro reds, Non-killing Game AU Kaito didn't have a lot of friends prior to HPA cuz he was a bit too hyperactive and weird, Post-Game (VR AU) Kaito leaves his hair down and looks better for it.
Unpopular Opinion: Not sure if it's unpopular, or even an opinion ppl have lol, but when I first played thru v3 I always felt that Kaito was the protag in my heart. It felt more like his story. (Not to mention Kokichi as the antagonist was literally a foil to Kaito and antagonized him way more than Shuichi)
Song I Associate With Them: omg there's so many lol. But top 3?
Heroes by All Time Low: (It sort of reads like a rivalry song with Kokichi that descends into his own insecurities of wanting/trying to save everyone. The final verse/chorus just hits on that self realization that he's been lying to everyone around him and he has to accept he's not who he pretends to be)
Crash by Sum 41: (Listen to this song and tell me it is not a Kaito death song lol)
Bang by AJR (I like to think Kaito had fun in the exisal. This song gives a campy vibe for the trial and it just fits the little theatre kid we all know he is.)
Fave Picture of Them:
Tumblr media
I was in tears during this trial and then this mother fucker jumps out the exisal and it's the most bittersweet moment! 😭 (Plus he looks cool af and he knows it lol)
