Specifically @ the person who came up with the headcanon that Bender and Alison are twins. Fucking galaxy brain. I can't find the post right now but you are so right and you should say it and as an 80s movie aficionado, brat pack brat, and Breakfast Club fanatic in particular, i am so fucking obsessed with this headcanon. Sidenote: I have personally watched Andrew McCarthy's documentary Brats no fewer than 3 times in the past 10 days. I cannot recommend it enough.

So, since delving back into this world of 80s movies, I stumbled upon someone's very simple headcanon about Bender and Alison being twins and have now fully incorporated into my belief system. No one can fucking convince me otherwise at this point. It's so true, it's so real, that I see no other explanation. And when I told my sister, she tried to challenge this theory, but I have been shooting her down with a real like legitimate explanation every single time. These two share a single set of abusive parents, and the abuse manifests in two distinct ways. Bender is physically and verbally abused. Alison is ignored and neglected. These twins don't necessarily hang together in social settings, like in school, but you can't tell me that their chemistry and kinship is not totally off the charts. These two know each other and they are sincerely a part of one another.

Case in point: the part where, when Bender throws the soda can in the air and Alison catches it like without looking. These two are siblings. And then my sister goes but "you know there's a hole in your theory because he says to her 'I've seen you before' and you wouldn't say that if you were siblings." I said "no no no no no you are so wrong, you are overlooking the most important thing here, they are siblings and that is their inside joke. That is the way he teases her in public for her gothy, in the shadows persona. She tries so hard to not be seen and he's calling her out on it in a teasing way."

Furthermore, why is she hiding in the shadows and slinking around in the background? Because she has learned from her parents that if you are loud and obnoxious like her brother is, you will get your ass beat. Because that's what she has seen them do to him. So she adopted her stealthy in the shadows creeping around persona as a defense mechanism because of the physical abuse that her twin brother was suffering at the hands of their parents. I'm just saying it all clicks.

Everyone please watch Brats and revisit all the old brat pack movies. Class (1983) and St. Elmo's Fire fucking slap so much harder than I remembered the first time around.

Madison Square Garden Pro Wrestling cards 1950-1960. Part 1

Opening bout (1st image) - The Mighty Blondes Def The McCarthy Twins. The Blondes took an easy win from the young country boys, who are relatively new on the scene.

Second bout (2nd image) - The Mancini Brothers def Mickey and Marty McKenna. The Mancinis dominated from the opening bell, brutalising their younger, less experienced opponents. The McKennas were busted open and practically tortured in the ring by their sadistic rivals, who eventually won with double KO sleepers. The audience were going crazy for this match.

Third bout (3rd image) - 'Sailor' Maurice Murphy vs 'The Mountain Man' Eugene Studd. Draw. A solid, if unspectacular heavyweight match from these two big technicians. Neither man could get two submissions from his opponent within the 30 min time limit. This one was for the pure pro wrestling fans.

Fourth Bout (last image) - Abe Murphy Def 'Handsome' Harry Henderson. Heavyweight title match. The match started out pretty even, with Henderson more than holding his own, but current champ Murphy began to get the upper hand around the 30 min mark, when the work he'd been doing weakening Hendersons lower back began to pay off. A brutal extended torture rack, immediately followed by an absolutely devastating over the knee back breaker, sealed the deal. From this point on it was cat and mouse, with Murphy taking his time slowly dominating and brutalising his clearly injured opponent, proving to everyone exactly why he's the champ. Once he'd finally won, he wasted no time in grabbing a handful of Hendersons hair and dragged him from the ring to the locker room, where the beat down continued. But that was only the beginning for Henderson, as he was then subjected to two hours of brute force mouth and ass fucking. Both men in just their pro boots, with the other losing wrestlers from the card suffering the same fate at the hands of their winning opponents. All the winners enjoyed taking part and sharing their prey amongst themselves. A total pro wrestling domination orgy.

The unproduced Into the Woods Adaptation with Jim Henson Company Animatronics

The show won three Tonys, but Hollywood didn’t come knocking until a few years later. In the early ‘90s, the Jim Henson Company and Storyline approached Sondheim and Lapine with a movie adaptation of the musical that would mix live actors with Henson creatures as the show's animals. The duo signed on, and Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel—who wrote City Slickers and A League of Their Own—penned the script.

Sondheim also wrote two new songs for the project, which he included in Look, I Made a Hat, the second volume in his books of collected lyrics. The first was a new opening number, “I Wish.” While the Broadway show’s first song featured the main characters singing about their wishes, the film version expanded the song to include villagers who sang of their wishes (“I wish my well was filled with beer,” “I wish my son-in-law would disappear,” “I wish my cow could go with me to school”) as they went about their business, and featured a narrator doing a voiceover.

The second new song, "Rainbows," was for the Baker and his Wife and “occurs a bit later,” Sondheim writes in Hat, “when the Baker is despairing about his inability to have children and the wife is trying to conceal her impatience with his pessimism.”

Sondheim.com, a fansite dedicated to the lyricist/composer, got a peek at a version of the script in 1994, and wrote that “The story basically follows that of the show's first act, although the story unfolds in a different manner, without a narrator or a Mysterious Man”:

Several confusions of the play have been fixed. For example, Rapunzel is no longer related to the Baker, nor does she give birth to twins, so the question of why the family curse didn't affect her has been erased. At the end of the first “act,” the Giant rises from his fall and goes on a rampage, allowing the rest of the story to unfold more-or-less as it did in Act II of the play. The intricate back stories of the Baker's father and the witch's mother have been deleted, eliminating "No More" and changing a bit of "Last Midnight." There is no "second bean," so the Baker's wife's scenes with Cinderella are fairly different. Finally, at the very end of the movie the wife reappears, having tricked the Giant into thinking she was dead. Strangely, there has been no effort to integrate “Children Will Listen” into the action. Rather, the camera just switches to a shot of the witch singing the song against a backdrop of Rapunzel's tower, followed by a montage of the survivors going about their lives after the giant.

“Although there will certainly be more work done on the script before it becomes a film,” the site concluded, “what we've seen is certainly promising, and will definitely be entertaining, even if it's not the Into the Woods we all know and love.”

Two readings of the script were held in Los Angeles: The first included Martin Short as the Baker, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Baker's Wife, Neil Patrick Harris as Jack, Mary Steenburgen as his mother, Kathy Najimy and Janeane Garofalo as Cinderella’s stepsisters, Cynthia Gibb as Cinderella, Rob Lowe as her prince, Christine Lahti as the Witch, Daryl Hannah as Rapunzel, and Michael Jeter as the Giant. At the second, Robin Williams played the Baker and Goldie Hawn was the Wife; Cher played the Witch, and Steve Martin played the Wolf. Carrie Fisher and Bebe Neuwirth were the stepsisters, Moira Kelly played Cinderella, and Kyle MacLachlan was her prince. Brendan Fraser played Rapunzel’s prince. Elijah Wood was Jack and Roseanne Barr was his mother. The cast was rounded out by Danny DeVito playing the Giant. In 1995, Rob Minkoff, co-director of The Lion King, signed on to direct.

Full Name: Kanan McCarthy

Nicknames: Cowpoke, Kane (really only ever referred to as such by their twin sister)

Pronouns: They/them, not strict on pronouns though.

Sexuality: Pansexual

Occupation and Titles: Freestar Militia Infantry (formerly), Shaw Gang Outlaw (formerly), Argos Extractors Miner (formerly), Smuggler and general criminal (currently), Constellation Member (currently)

Birthday and Age: At the beginning of the game (May 7th, 2330) Kanan is 37. They turn 38 shortly after. They were born on May 27th, 2292 in Akila City.

Physical Description: Kanan stands at exactly six feet tall (about 183 cm). They are physically active and as such have a sort of athletic build.

Clothing Style: Kanan wears masculine leaning clothing and mostly sticks to more "wild west" themed apparel. They are often seen in their signature red poncho and cowboy hat.

Background

As I don't want to spoil things, I'll keep this vague. Kanan was born and raised on Akila in Freestar space. Them and their family lived on the McCarthy Homestead just outside Akila City walls.

Kanan took part in the Colony War at a young age, having gotten caught up in the war propaganda. As such, they lied about their age in order to fight for the Freestar Collective. The Colony War took a huge toll on both Kanan and the McCarthy family as a whole.

Kanan went to college after the war and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering, having majored in engineering and minored in astronomy. They fell into a life of crime afterward, having joined the Shaw Gang for some time and then branching out on their own.

As seen in my fic titled The Man in Red, Kanan joined Argos Extractors about a year before the story of Starfield after encountering an odd bounty hunter in the Red Mile who wanted them alive.

They joined Constellation after encountering the Artifact on Vectera, and their story is currently being written in my fic titled Event Horizon.

Combat and Skills

Preferred fighting style: Kanan prefers mid to close range combat with guns, though they are not against getting very close and engaging in close quarters combat with melee weapons or hand-to-hand.

Favorite Weapon(s): Kanan carries a modified razorback revolver named "Penumbra." Kanan also carries around and prefers shotguns, but also keeps a sniper rifle handy as well as small blades.

Special Skills: Like any wild west gunslinger, Kanan is highly skilled at using pistols. They also use Starborn abilities (although they are not Starborn themself). Kanan is charismatic and knows just the right buttons to push when it comes to enemies, but also which words to choose when trying to de-escalate a situation. As they went to college for engineering, Kanan is well versed in various means of engineering, which includes spaceship building and design, outpost construction, weapon handling and management, and spacesuit technology. They are an excellent pilot as well, capable of coming out on top in even the most dangerous dogfights.

Relationships

Family: Kanan's father is James McCarthy, a former Freestar Ranger and former member of the First Cavalry mech division. Their mother is Charlotte McCarthy, a scientist and astronomer. They had an older brother named Owen who was also apart of the First Cavalry mech division during the Colony War. He was killed in the later years of the Battle of Niira. Lastly, Kanan is a twin; their twin sister is named Senya, a ronin by trade who currently lives with and takes care of their father at the McCarthy Homestead.

Kanan would later consider Constellation as their own "found family."

Love interest: Sarah Morgan. Before Sarah, Kanan rarely ever had any serious relationships out of fear of commitment. Instead, they often wandered from lover to lover and held many "friends with benefits" type relationships. One night stands are not uncommon for Kanan, though their more promiscuous behavior settles down once they end up in a serious relationship with Sarah.
