sorry but why is no one talking about THE LOVE SONG playing when danny dreams of him and steve owing and ruling Steve’s in 8x10??
like its a thing to give us Danny dreaming of his perfect life and it being steve wearing that slutty button up him and steve having their own little paradise. but it’s another to play “Volare” A LOVE SONG when these two are spoon feeding each other while looking in each other eyes like they want to make love at this exact moment.

“I may teeter the line between pretty stupid and pretty beautiful, but the important thing being is that I am always pretty!” a very tipsy but not exactly yet drunk, Steve McGarrett stumbling home wanting a smooch from his husband, having just been delivered by the other now out and proud navy buddied who’s op that night was getting Steve home because it’s the only way to shut him the fuck up about his Danno who he obviously missed so damn much, but it’s very much not Steve’s fault that this reunion fell around the same time Danny was getting back from Jersey after visiting for his sister’s birthday.
Danny’s listening to him ramble about how one of his friends called Steve pretty annoying but Steve corrected him.
The imagery could be added with Steve tripping and stumbling to the ground before ninja-ing(tipsy) onto the couch desting his head on Danny’s lap. Trying to get comfy and hug Danny while in this position. Telling him about his night, momentarily forgetting his goal before he’s reminded again and trying his best to get a kiss.

Omg I didn't even think about an apple as the forbidden fruit/sign of temptation 🤯 Danny you MINX. That scene just got even more suggestive! 😏 just step between those legs already, Steve. The light is as green as that Apple lol
LOL blame the Good Omens fandom for this, but if I see an apple taking its own place in the spotlights when a more or less canon ship is involved, the obvious line of thinking draws me towards the biblical metaphor.
It's simply too widely known not to be referred at, even if implicitly. Moreover, the act of eating an apple, especially a green one, so raw and juicy, is very sensual and suggestive: because it's messy, because there's juice flowing all around and dripping on hands and chin, calling for a very obvious solution like licking and sucking it away, because you have to bite to taste, be it a small and careful bite or a wildly hungry one, because...because an apple will always, always remind people of that first apple (even if it was probably a pomegranate like Persephone's or even an orange), at that first apple spoke about the very first seduction which ever took place.
Pair this symbolism with Danny’s pose, so evocative of a mostly feminine pose (like his usual boat pose), and the invitation given by his open legs....brah, I'm asexual but I know and love math ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Title: Family, Familia, ‘Ohana, Chapter 13: Danny POV
Fandom: 911, H50, SWAT
Pairings: Buddie, McDanno, platonic Deacon/Hondo
Fic summary:
When one family seems lost another comes back from the past. But does Buck want to return to the past or live in the present? And does his present lead to a future he wants? Only he can answer these questions but Steve at least will be there to support him.

Watching out the window by the kitchen sink as Eddie wanders across the backyard toward Buck, Danny waits for Steve to join him.
“Where’d they go?  I was thinking grilling out for dinner,” Steve says as he joins Danny.
“They’re talking,” Danny answers.  “They’ve got a lot to talk about.”
“Oh.  So Dinner?”  Steve fidgets with the fridge but doesn’t open it.
“I think they’re going to be a while.”
“So we shouldn’t..?” Steve finally looks at Danny and he’s lost some of the armor, letting Danny see the Steve he knows peeking out through a chink.
“I think they’re going to need privacy.”
“Oh.  Uh…” Steve awkwardly looks around his kitchen, “It’s my house?”
“You can stay the night at mine.  We’ll give them some privacy.”
“I’m not being sexiled from my own house,” Steve grumbles, not moving.
“You’re not.  You’re coming to mine and we’ll make the steaks I need to grill.”
“You could have brought them here…”
“No.  Buck is comfortable here—not at my place.”
“I’m not sleeping on your couch.”
Danny hums, not arguing with Steve.  He has a different idea for where Steve is sleeping tonight.
“Danny, did you hear me?  I’m not sleeping on the couch and Gracie’s bed is too short.”
“I heard you.”
“Danno—“
Steve cuts himself off when he finally meets Danny’s eyes. Danny can only assume that what he’s thinking is on his face because Steve gives a little nod and drops the argument.
“I’ll go grab a bag.”

ooh there's so many good questions in that writers list. ummmmm 10, 18, 22, 59, 74
10. Cltr+f “blinks” on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up
with a previous answer i did this for the starsky & hutch wips, so i'll do it for h50 now, which brings options. the main document with more or less Everything in it has 12 blinks, a flip-flop state of mind has 4 (though those have all already been posted), and sweet like a chic-a-cherry cola (which is, despite appearances, not dead) has 7, one of which is this one, from the aftermath of my gratuitous surf buddies scene rewrite ("“That’s so cute,” Mary says, while she accepts the coffee. She’s smiling, and Steve looks happy and clueless and good enough to eat, and Danny is, quite frankly, insulted."):
When he crosses the doorway he’s indignant, but by the time he’s hopping up on the kitchen counter there’s a nasty doubt creeping in. “Hey, look, we are more than just surf buddies, right? I’m not reading this whole thing wrong?” Steve has his head in the fridge, but at this he closes it without taking anything out. He turns to Danny and blinks. “Of course we are. We’re-” He predictably gets stuck right there, because they haven’t said anything like that out loud before. “Partners,” is what he settles for.
also, oh my god, that's 23 mcdanno blinks. brb editing out these people's twitching eyelids.

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
answered this one here!
-
22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
ooh, interesting! and i'm leaning towards no, because i have very few hard boundaries with fiction. there are definitely things i'd be very unlikely to ever write, but there's very little i feel sure about ruling out completely. i'm not responsible (yet) for what tomorrow me thinks would be a good idea, and i only very recently had the experience of watching a show (one of the thai ones, predictably) that got me SO annoyed i had to grab myself by the back of my own shirt and forcibly yank myself back from attempting to rewrite the entire plot of a lazy thing about which i liked practically nothing, not even the characters. so i guess that's one thing i AM trying to actively avoid, and hope for future me's sake she won't be doing either: writing some giant project purely out of spite for a media property i don't enjoy. (peace and love, girl.) beyond that, i don't know! chances are vanishingly slim, but maybe i'll suddenly decide i have a great take on mpreg omegaverse deathfic tomorrow.
-
59. Does anyone in your personal life know you write fic? if not, would you tell anyone?
oh, yes! all my friends i think, my sister, my parents - though my parents wouldn't know where to find it, probably, and i wouldn't mind keeping it that way. i don't mind telling people, it's just that i also don't necessarily enjoy explaining (and defending) the concept of fanfic to random non-fanfic people, so it depends on the situation.
-
74. You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
also already answered this one, here. clearly people agree you picked the best questions!

@cowandcalf tagged me to post something from my WIP. This is from ‘Goodnight, Moon’ which is **checks notes** yes, another mcdanno AU.
tagging @itwoodbeprefect @mcdannoangelwolf @redgoldblue @bgharison @simplyn2deep @stephmcx @kristin99 and anyone else who wants to share a snippet from their WIPs!
putting this under a cut ‘cuz its kind of long:
It was one in the morning, but Steve couldn’t sleep. He wandered out onto the lanai, back into the kitchen for a glass of water, and then headed across the lawn to the garage. Opened the toolbox, only to realize that he just wasn’t up to wrestling sense out of his dad’s riddles.
He picked up the tape recorder, ran his thumb over the play button. That jogged his memory.
Where was the Eight Islands Story Hour videotape?
Back in the 80’s, there had been a statewide project to tape people reading children’s books; first in English, and then in Hawai’ian. His mom was on the second tape in the series, reading Goodnight, Moon in English.
He’d been ten; too old and too cool to care about a recording of his mom reading a ‘baby’ book. Mary, though, had watched and rewatched the tape for the next couple of years. Eventually, she moved on to cartoons and kid movies—until 1992.
While his dad was making the final arrangements at the funeral home, Steve had searched through the kid movies piled up in the bookcase, and Mary had snuck a can of beer from the fridge in the garage. Then they had held their own vigil; listening to their mom read to them one more time, while they split the beer.
Letting his nine-year old sister drink was definitely not one of his finer moments as a brother, but that afternoon had somehow felt more real, more meaningful, than his mom’s funeral.
Or his father’s funeral, two weeks ago.
Steve put the tape recorder back, closed the toolbox. Went into the house, and started searching. He finally found the boxes half-buried in the closet of the guest bedroom. He carried the big box downstairs first, pulled out the VCR. Sorted through the cables and a ziplock bag of adapters, found what he needed to hook the machine up.
He returned to the closet, grabbing the box labeled ‘Kid Movies - VHS’ in his dad’s broad, strong handwriting. Steve carried the box downstairs, set it on the coffee table. Found the Story Hour tape near the bottom. A photo of his mom was on the back cover, and he had to swallow against the sudden lump in his throat.
He pushed the tape into the VCR, checked the box again. Good Night, Moon was the second book on the tape. He hit play and forward a few times, finally found the right section.
His mom was sitting in a wooden rocker, looking impossibly young. She was smiling at the camera. “—next book is ‘Good Night, Moon’ by Margaret Wise Brown.”
Her smile was like a gut punch and Steve half-sat, half-fell into the recliner.
In the great green room, there was a telephone
He hadn’t cried during the long flight back, or at his father’s funeral. He hadn’t even cried when he’d stood over the outline of his father’s body, the walls of his childhood home still flecked with blood. But hearing his mother’s voice for the first time in eighteen years was too much.
Steve dropped his head in his hands, and wept.

I really loved your take on the 5-0 task force with their mutant powers! How about something small from that verse? McDanno preparing a cook out where the team will come to celebrate their engagement maybe?
@space-ace-ravenclaw-demigod Sorry this took me SO LONG to finish. Been having some issues lol. But here it is. I hope you enjoy it! I had fun with it.
Steve hummed as he mixed spices into the bowel of burger meat. He should have been paying closer attention to what he was doing, Danny was very particular about the proportions of paprika, salt, and several others Steve only vaguely recognized, but he was too happy.
He was very happy. Danny had accepted his proposal and they were going to be married. Steve had been on cloud nine ever since Danny had said yes. Kono often complained that she had to toughen up her mental shields to keep of all of his, “mushy and sappy”, thoughts out of her head.
Steve really had been trying to keep a lid on it, in respect to Kono and other telepaths, empaths, and omnipaths that might be around. Emma had often told him that he had very forceful thoughts and emotions, easy for psionics to pick up on and hard for them to block out. Steve couldn’t help it though. He hadn’t been this happy since Danny had agreed to move in with him.
If Steve sat down and thought about it most his happiest moments included Danny. Their first date. Their first kiss. The first time they had sex. Even the first day they met, out in the garage, guns drawn and electro-magnetism in the air. Granted that happiness had been from getting one up on Danny by taking over his fathers case. But still, it counted.
So sue him, he was happy. Genuinely and fully happy. Something he hadn’t been in a long time. If he was a pain in the head for some psionics they could deal. He’d only been engaged for a week, he was allowed to wallow in it a bit. He’d get it under better control eventually.
“Babe, the kitchen is levitating again.” Danny’s amused tone snapped Steve out of his thoughts. While he’d been absently kneading ground beef his powers had reached out and effected the kitchen.
Now that he was focusing he realized the toaster and microwave were floating above the counter. The cutlery drawer and knife block were both empty, their contents floating near the ceiling. Even the fridge was hovering a little off the floor in its alcove.
“Do not tell Kono.” Steve said as he focused, setting the appliances back where the belonged and bringing the utensils down to the island to be sorted and put away. He could have done it with his abilities but putting them away the mundane way would focus his mind.
“Not a word, I promise.” Danny mimed zipping his lips as he sat three bulging canvas shopping bags on the counter. As Steve sorted through forks, knives, spoons, and other items he couldn’t help tracking his eyes over Danny’s form. Even after years of knowing each other and being together Steve still couldn’t help how hot he found Danny.
Wide shoulders and a trim waist, a beautiful backside and well muscled legs. Toned and powerful arms. Strong chest and well defined, though not overly ripped, stomach. Steve even loved the golden brown hair that spread over Danny’s gorgeous body. All that deliciousness packed into Danny’s small frame…sometimes Steve was delirious with want.
Before Danny the few men Steve allowed himself to be with, DADT effecting even mutants, had always been like him. Long and lean. Powerfully built more from training than nature. Ripped and gym toned and lethally trained. Danny…Danny was a pint-sized power house of natures design.
“I don’t need to be a telepath to know you’re practically drooling over me.” For a second time Danny’s amusement pulled him out of his thoughts. He didn’t even feel bad for starring. It wasn’t the first time and it damn sure wouldn’t be the last. Still, he made sure to quickly wipe his mouth and chin before Danny turned, just in case he had been. (He wasn’t, this time, but it had happed before).
“Of course not. You can detect the electrical changes in my body due to being aroused.” Steve replied, doing his best to sound smart, to reclaim a smidge of his dignity.
“Well yea,” Danny replied a shrug. He had finished emptying the bags and was now sorting the contents to be put away, “But I also know how much you love my ass in these pants.” Danny, the bastard, winked at him over his shoulder before turning back to the groceries.
Steve couldn’t even call him a liar. He loved Danny’s ass on a regular day. His fitted slack were sinful and his faded jeans somehow managed to be both loose and comfortable in the legs but also hug his glutes.
Today though he was dressed in a pair of light blue linen drawstring pants. They hinted at, more than accentuated, the curve of his ass but Steve still loved the way they looked on him. It was more to do with the fact that Danny was loosening up and embracing the island style more than anything. He loved Danny’s cuffed jeans and white t-shirt combo, it was very Jersey. But he counted getting Danny to wear light, loose, and soft clothes as a win. Today’s linen pants with lightweight button up, sleeves rolled up to the elbows and few buttons undone, was one of his favorite looks.
Now if he could just get him to embrace slippahs.
“I…I don’t suppose we have time for a little fun. Do we?” Steve asked as he moved up behind Danny, pressing himself flush to his back, hands on his hips. Danny leaned back into him, turning his head to press a kiss to his jaw, and lacing his fingers in Steve’s where they gripped him. Danny continued to nuzzle into his jaw and Steve thought he just might be getting some afternoon delight. As he moved his hands from Danny’s grip and down toward his groin there was a sizzle in the air and Steve found himself grasping air and falling against the counter.
“What the-“ Steve cut off as he whirled around to find Danny smirking at him from across the kitchen, a haze of static electricity jumping off his body to dissipate in the air.
“Sorry babe,” Danny smirked wider, not sounding sorry at all, “Folks will be getting here any time now.” With a flash of golden lightning and whoosh of air Danny vanished, leaving Steve aroused and frustrated against the counter.
***  Danny glared at the grill through narrowed eyes as he pressed the ignitor button again. A brand new grill and the damn thing wouldn’t light. Giving up on the little red button Danny snapped his fingers and shot a thin bolt of lightning under the grate, igniting the gas. Danny stepped back as the flames leapt higher than expected, closing his eyes against the light.
“Whoa, Uncle D, be careful,” Danny opened his eyes to find a transparent bubble around the grill, “You wouldn’t want to be BBQ before you get hitched.” Eric stepped next to him and opened his closed fist, causing the bubble to break apart.
“Big bubble, and hollow, you been practicing?” Danny asked as he started dropping burgers on the grill.
“Here and there, yea. Don’t really need it much in the lab.” Eric replied with a shrug. Eric had never been comfortable with his status as a mutant and, until recently, had only learned basic control over his abilities. Danny blamed Eric’s dad. The man, despite dating Stella, had been extremely anti-mutant. It was kind of ironic in Danny’ opinion. Stella, like Matty and Clara, weren’t mutants, and since women could only pass on the X-gene if it was active, Eric’s X-gene had been inherited from his dad as men passed on the X-gene regardless of activation. Danny had been helping him as much as he could but between working, spending time with the kids, his own training, and everything that had happened with Charlie…Danny knew he had slacked. As he watched Eric walk away to get a drink he resolved to do better.
Danny didn’t have long to linger on morose thoughts as others started to arrive. It had taken a week for them all to get together to celebrate his and Steve’s engagement. Danny refused to call it an engagement shower. He’d always thought that was a stupid phrase. This was just another team BBQ, he and Steve just happened to be engaged now.
“Howzit Brah Congratulations to my favorite haole.”  Kamekona’s greeting was all the warning he got before he was hoisted up into the man in question arms. Kamekona may not have been a mutant but was still strong enough to life him off his feet.
“Thanks’ Kamekona,” Danny replied as he was set back on his feet, “And before you ask, you’re in the running for catering.” Danny patted the big mans’ shoulder and Kamekona beamed.
“O’course I am bruddah. Best shrimp and shaved ice on the island,” Kamekona puffed out his chest as he spoke, “I got da menu already planned-” Kamekona made to go on but Danny was saved by the timely arrival of Adam carrying a covered tray.
“Kono told me to give you these,” Adam spoke with a smile as he pushed the tray at Danny, “Mahi-mahi, her grandma’s special marinade. She say’s they’re best on the upper grill.”
“Auntie Kalakaua’s famous mahi-mahi,” Kamekona exclaimed before Danny could say anything, “I been trying to get that recipe for years!”
“Keep dreaming Kamekona,” Kono announced as she appeared carrying two beers, “Tutu won’t even tell me what she uses in the marinade, and she claims I’m her favorite.”
“Are one of those for me?” Danny nodded to the beers. He didn’t mean to be rude but he was pretty parched. Kono smiled at him and handed over one of the longboards. Before Danny could take it though it floated out of Kono’s grip and over to hover in front of Adam.
“Whoops...sorry about that.” Adam blushed, face becoming a mask of concentration as he starred at the bottle. After a moment it hovered back toward Danny, “I was just thinking about how thirsty I was.” Adam explained as Danny took hold of the bottle.
“It’s all yours, if you want.” Danny held the bottle out to him but Adam shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll get one from the cooler.” Adam turned away with a smile. Before anyone could make a move though the cooler, which Danny had sat in the shade at the edge of the lanai earlier, lifted off the ground and came hurtling toward Adam.
“Whoa, watch out!” Danny heard Eric shout before the cooler was encased in a large bubble. Danny turned to see Eric standing nearby, hand outstretched.
“Sorry, sorry!” Adam called out, stricken, as he marched over to the hovering cooler, “Alright Eric, I got it. You can let it go.” Danny watched as Eric nodded, letting his arm fall slowly and the force field bubble dissipated.
The blue and white yeti dropped a few inches as the bubble vanished but Adam, hands outstretched, pushed it back into the shade before letting it drift slowly to the ground.
“Sorry again all. I swear I’m getting better at this. Sometimes it just...does what it wants.” Adam spoke to the ground, back still to the rest of them. Both he and Kono moved to comfort him but Eric got there first.
“Don’t worry about it man,” Eric told him as he pulled two beers from the cooler, “This mutant thing is a pain in the ass sometimes. There are still days I can’t control it. At least once a week I knock something over because I accidently make an orb.”
“Two days ago I tried to pull a pen to me from across the room,” Adam huffed a small laugh, “It shot past my head and embedded in the wall. I still don’t know what happened.” Eric laughed too and, slinging an arm around Adam’s shoulders, the pair walked off, comparing power-mishaps.
“He really is doing a lot better,” Kono told him as the pair got out of ear shot. Kamekona having vanished inside, “I think he’s just really happy today, for you guys and because he got accepted into a LMT program. Just found out today.”
“That’s great, the one out on the North Shore?” Danny asked and Kono nodded with a smile, “I hear it’s the best one for helping latent mutants get a handle on their powers.” Danny had looked into the program when Eric first moved to the island but since his powers had manifested during puberty he didn’t meet the criteria.
“Yea, we’re both hoping it helps. Adam is bored to tears sitting around at home but he can’t risk working outside the house with his powers spiking. Inhibiter bands make him sick, even at the lowest setting.” Kono explained and Danny nodded with a frown. Psionics, almost universally, couldn’t use inhibiters without getting sick. Something about certain areas of their brains being overly developed. Danny wasn’t too sure how the science worked. He had never had to worry about it growing up, inhibiter tech had just been starting out, and as he grew up and reached Omega-Level they were useless on him anyway.
“You guys will get it figured out, and me and Steve are always here for you two, you know that.” Danny held out his arm as he spoke and Kono stepped into a one-armed hug.
“I’m going to go call Chin, see where he and Abby are.” She said as she stepped out of his embrace.
As she walked away Danny turned back to the grill, checking the burgers and fish. Steve was making kebabs and there’d be dogs soon. Despite being deliriously happy, he was marrying the man he loved and soon the back yard would be filled with more of his found family, he couldn’t help feeling a bit sad.
“Thinking bout the kids?” Steve’s voice and arms wrapping around his waste surprised him. He hadn’t been sensing.
Shutting the grill and leaning back into Steve’s embrace Danny hummed in agreement. Rachel, despite claiming she was extremely happy for him and Steve, hadn’t been willing to compromise on the visitation schedule and let Grace an Charlie come to the party. She made the excuse of there being some big social function the kids absolutely had to attend with her on the big island. Danny didn’t need to monitor her electrical signals to know she was lying, (not that he did that anyway. People lied everyday if you tracked every one of them you’d drive yourself crazy so Danny more or less shut off that particular ability most of the time.).
Steve had offered to reschedule the party, hell everyone had, but today was the only day for the foreseeable future that worked for most of everyone else. Chin, Abby, and Sara would be coming soon, as would Lou and Renee; their kids had plans with friend. Noelani was working, and Jerry had some convention on the mainland he was going to. Steve had offered to fly Mary-Ann and Joan out but his sister hadn’t been able to get off work.
“We’ll get them on your next visit and the four of us will go out and paint the town red,” Steve told him with a kiss behind his ear, “And since you get them for winter break we’ll spend Christmas in Jersey.”
“It’s our engagement party Steve, you were already getting laid, you didn’t have to kiss my ass.” Danny told him happily. He had been wanting to spend Christmas is Jersey for the last few years but they hadn’t managed it.
“I plan to do more with your ass later on than kiss it,” Steve growled in his ear before kissing his jaw, “Besides, I wanted to butter you up given what I’m about to do.” With that Steve let his arms fall from around his waist and walked around him. It wasn’t until then that he saw the studded straps Steve wore on his wrist.
“Come on babe, it’s a party.” Danny whined half-heartedly. He didn’t really mind, so long as the others didn’t.
“And I’m gonna have some fun,” Steve spoke with a smile, spinning to look at him before turning back around, “Yo Adam, E-Train. Let’s play around.”
Danny just shook his head, smiling, as the pair groaned.
***  Steve couldn’t help but smirk as both Adam and Eric groaned. He wasn’t going to push it if they didn’t want to. He never did. Well, almost never did. But he was feeling good and he wanted to play. Plus both of them could use the training. Thankfully both of them were smiling as they set their drinks aside and followed him to the beach.
Once in the sand Steve gave his arms a little shake and the studs on his wrist bands dropped. Catching the fourteen studs with his powers before they hit the ground Steve brought them up to circle around him.
“Whenever you two are ready.” Steve said with a smile. About eight feet on both sides of him Adam and Eric took up pseudo-defensive stances. He didn’t often get to play against both of them but it was always much more fun when he did. The pair nodded and, without further warning, Steve flexed his powers. Starting small he sent three at each of them. From the corner of his eye he watched Adam making grasping motions, trying to pull the studs from Steve’s control. He managed to get two of them but the third caught his left shoulder with a solid pock. Steve instantly pulled that one back toward him and turned his focus toward Eric.
Eric had stopped his studs easily. Hands still In front of his chest, pinky and ring fingers curled with middle, fore, and thumbs crooked slightly, he had created a wall of orbs to protect him. The orbs, compressed and re-ordered air molecules, gave like mesh and caught the momentum.
Narrowing his eyes Steve pushed, scattering the studs around the wall; looking for weaknesses he could push through. Not finding one he pulled them back. Before they could travel too far the wall fell and the studs were encased in orbs. Steve pulled harder but Eric kept them from him. Splitting his focus Steve kept pulling while he turned his focus back to Adam. As he turned his head to face Adam directly he had a moment to appreciate the high speed at which the studs were circling above Adam’s palm before they were being launched at him. The studs were small, the size of shooter marbles, and Adam sometimes had trouble building momentum with them.
Adam, despite growing up in the Yakuza, (or perhaps because of it), would never attack when he thought Steve’s back was turned or his focus elsewhere. Even though Steve could sense the metal. Steve stopped the studs easily, redirecting them around him and toward Eric, before shooting four more toward Adam; two high and two low.
Intending to track the studs around Adam, keep him guessing, Steve’s focus was pulled as two impacts hit him. One in the shoulder and one in the back of the knee. Looking down he watched two of Eric’s orbs dissipate, revealing his studs. In the back of his mind he set the ones toward Adam to spin around him, varying speed, and focus on Eric.
“Since when can you do that?” Steve barked with a grin. Before Eric could only return the studs by bouncing them off his force-fields. He had never known him to be able to throw the orbs.
“I been practicing.” Eric replied, casting up a wall orbs to catch the two studs. Prepared this time Steve divided them, sending one up and the other two to the left. Eric moved the orbs to keep blocking them but as he did Steve ripped the third stud from earlier, which Eric had kept in an orb by his side, free and sent it into Eric’s hip. Eric yelped and jumped.
The studs had pea-sized metal balls in the center that were then layered with fabric and a rubber outer coating. They didn’t hurt very much on impact unless Steve wanted them to, and playing like this he didn’t want them to, but the initial impact did sting.
Pulling the freed stud back to him, letting the other two keep moving around while Eric blocked and tried to encase them, he turned back to Adam. Steve was impressed to see that Adam had caught two of the studs, holding them at bay in front of his hand, while he worked to stop the others. With a jerk of his head Steve tried to pull the two frozen studs back, to his surprise they would not move.
With a smile he watched as Adam, face a mask of concentration, curled both hands into fists; tightening the control of the two frozen studs and stopping the other two in midair. Not willing to give them up Steve pulled at all four studs, yanking them in different directions. He was only using a fraction of his powers, Adam knew that as well, and it would be easy to yank them out of Adam’s control. But that wasn’t the point of the game. Not really.
Raising left hand toward Adam he linked the four studs to his fingers. Letting his fingers move up and down, curl and uncurl, he kept testing Adam’s control and turned back to Eric. Eric had managed to catch one stud but was still holding off the other as it move in accordance to Steve’s subconscious. Taking full control of the stud he sped it up, and then sent two more toward Eric. Smile widening even further Steve watched as Eric adjusted. Instead of continuing to moving his shield of orbs around, and try to block the new ones, Eric brought his hands together; finger tips touching to make the form of a ball. Doing so Eric called up a dome shield around him, but it also freed Steve’s fourth stud from the orb that had encased it.
Steve was thoroughly impressed. Though he wasn’t fully trying to free them Adam was still managing to keep control of the studs around him, they quivered and moved minutely as Steve tried to take full control. Steve spun the ones around Eric faster, pushing them against the dome of orbs in search of a weakness. Like with Adam, Steve could force them through the orbs if he wanted. Doing so would likely hurt Eric though. Instead he moved them, applying increasing pressure at random places to split Eric’s focus.
Deciding to end the game Steve was just about to send the remaining studs to overwhelm his friends defenses when the sky suddenly began to dark. As lightning started to arc between the clouds Steve let all the studs drop out of his control as he turned his skyward. Growing up on the island, and years working with Chin, had taught Steve the difference between a natural storm and a created one.
With a flash of gold light and quiet whoosh Danny was by his side.
“Easy babe, it’s Chin…but I don’t know what’s up with the show.” Danny gestured above them as the clouds continued to thicken. Circling his hands Steve called the studs back to his straps as Kono jogged over to them.
“Chin never answered when I called. Neither did Abby.” She looked worried and eyes the sky. Steve didn’t need to be a psionic to know she was trying to reach Chin telepathically.
“Uncle D, something going on?” Eric asked as he and Adam moved to join them.
“No idea kid, keep your orbs ready.” Danny replied, scanning the area for Chin.
“There.” Adam pointed just above the house. The five of them turned to see Chin shooting over the house toward them at top speed.
“Chin what’s wrong, are Abby and Sara okay, you never use your powers like this unless it’s an emergency?” Steve questioned as Chin touched down in front of them. Chins eye cleared of their lightning white and the lightning overhead stopped, but the sky remained cloudy.
“They’re fine. I told them to wait at the house. I was leaving the office when this,” Chin held up what looked like a thin sheet of metal, “Fell out of the sky in front of my bike. It’s got your name on it.” Chin held out the metal to him and Steve took it. It was lighter than it looked, sturdy, and about a foot by foot square. On the front of it was Steve’s mutant codename, Ferron.
Realizing that the spikey calligraphy of his name was part of the metal, not written or stamped, Steve immediately knew who it was from.
“You all need to stand back,” Steve ordered, hardening his tone, “Now!” He added when none of them made any move to listen to him.
“I’m not going anywhere babe.” Danny rested the hand bearing the promise ring Steve had given to him on his shoulder.
The others all nodded or voiced their agreement and Steve growled in annoyance.
“I don’t know what will happen when I open this. It…it’s from Lehnsherr.” Steve told them and a fission of understand seemed to pass through all of them.
“I can contain it while you open it..” Eric offered quietly and Adam nodded.
“I can spin out a field around Eric’s orb. It’s not the strongest but it’s another layer of protection.” Adam added.
“And if Magneto is stupid enough to send you something dangerous I can zip us out of here. Though I might need a hand with Big Man.” Danny nodded to Kamekona, who was happily manning the grill.
“Erik wouldn’t do that, I don’t think at least.” Steve replied quietly. He hadn’t seen his old mentor in years and while they hadn’t parted on good terms he didn’t think Erik would try to hurt him.
“Should we call…someone?” Kono chimed in and Steve shook his head. He knew the ‘someone’ she meant. They all did. The Sentinels. Their presence on Hawaii was small, and they were nowhere near as influential as they had been in the  80s and 90s, but Steve would never work with them if he could help it.
“No,” Steve replied as he levitated the letter, “Eric, Adam, do your thing.” The two nodded and once the metal was encased in a large orb and a slightly shimmering field of telekinetic energy Steve went to work.
Wrapping his mind and powers around the sheet of metal Steve followed the electro-magnetic pattern embedded in the metal. He formed it into a floating ball of metal before reforming it into a new sheet of metal. The black of his old code name now spread out to form smaller words across the surface.
“Danny, I don’t think there was anything embedded. No nanites or microbes. I didn’t detect any kind of signal either. Can you fry the air inside the orb, just incase?” Steve asked and Danny nodded.
Danny moved a bit closer and, after Adam withdrew his field, pressed his hand to Eric’s orb. In an instant the inside was light with a near blinding flash of electricity. Secure that anything nefarious, organic or mechanical, was now fried Steve pulled the slightly smoking sheet of metal free of Eric’s orb.
“ ‘Steven J McGarrett and Daniel Williams are hereby invited to a dinner in their honor on the Sovereign Island Nation of Genosha by its Governor Erik Lehnsherr and his family, to celebrate their engagement and impeding nuptials.’ ” Steve read, his ire growing with every word.
“Erik Lehnsherr, former mutant terrorist, is inviting us to dinner on his illegally created island to celebrate us getting married. He KNOWS we’re getting married? What the fuck?!” Danny burst out, grabbing for the sheet of metal where Steve was still levitating it.
“I don’t know,” Steve offered quietly as he let Danny take the apparent invitation, “But I’m going to find out.”

austen's emma inspired (modern) au of season 2 mcdanno
steve gets fed up with what he perceives as danny pining for rachel when she's clearly not worth it and his friend deserves better so he leaves for a few weeks of training with the navy reserves, without telling danny why he left, of course.
as the time of his homecoming nears, lori approaches danny because she thinks he would have the best intel on whether or not steve is into her. danny doesn't want to be mean but privately he scoffs at the idea because steve was so against having lori on the team and seemed to dislike/mistrust her for the longest time.
he is, however, curious of the timing of why lori is asking now, and she surprises him by saying that she used to think steve definitely wasn't interested but recent events have indicated that he might like her after all, particularly citing the hike steve recently dragged her to (as a team bonding activity) and how he carried her back in his arms when she twisted her ankle.
danny assures her it means nothing as steve has taken him on multiple hikes and he would have carried anyone who was hurt the big showy oaf he is which makes lori bristle 'i knew you had a thing for him too and you are jealous, that's why you don't want it to be true, just admit it'.
danny goes to automatically deny it, but the incident makes him think and re-evaluate things. why does the idea of steve having feelings for lori make his skin crawl? why can't he stand the thought of them flirting and happy at the office every day? that's when he's hit with the realisation that the only person steve should be with is him. danny. he didn't realize why he enjoyed steve's undivided attention and being the most important person in his life until he was faced with the possibility of someone else taking that place.
he also re-evaluates the handcuff incident and steve's strange over-reaction which now makes it seem like steve was jealous! over lori! just his luck that danny realised his feelings for steve when he's already halfway to being in love with someone else. what's worse he now has to play supportive best friend™ and encourage steve to follow his heart because he does want him to be happy.
meanwhile, steve had thought that putting the distance between himself and danny would help him get a handle on his feelings, but it just makes him miss him more, even unrelated things remind him of danny and he just longs to hear his voice and see his hands move in an intricate dance of gestures and his cheeky smile when he teases steve.
he hasn't really kept in touch but somehow through the grapevine he hears about the news that rachel and stan have decided to renew their vows (because having a baby made them feel closer to each other) and of course steve can't stay away any longer! danny needs him! he has to be there for danny to comfort him and it doesn't matter that his own heart is breaking. steve will grit his teeth and bury his pain and share danny's because that's what you do for your best friend!
he travels all night just to get to danny as soon as possible and stumbles onto him almost burning down the mcgarrett kitchen. danny seems almost shell-shocked to see him and acts a little cage-y. steve tells him he's sorry and he's here for him if he needs anything.
danny is confused 'not that i don't appreciate it, but what's the occasion'. steve gently clarifies 'it's fine, you don't have to pretend with me, i know it must be a huge blow to you that rachel is re-marrying the same guy for a second time'. it dawns on danny what has steve so distressed and he even laughs a bit because it's so far off from the actual things he's been preoccupied with, giant SEAL shaped things.
it's steve's turn to be confused, because he assumed danny's voicemail meant he's not over rachel. danny has to correct him 'babe...that voicemail was from months ago, and anyway i don't think it was even about rachel, i just wanted my family back, or the idea of it, but you can never go back. holding onto the past only makes you miss the exciting future opportunities'.
steve sees his opening, of course he wasn't going to bring up his feelings but finding out danny wasn't pining for rachel made him eager to find out his chances before it's too late. 'speaking about future opportunities...'
danny realises this is it, steve is going to tell him about his designs on lori, and he just can't, he can't handle hearing it right now, so he stops steve mid-sentence with 'please don't...it'll make things awkward at work'.
the only way for steve not to look like he's been stabbed in the gut is to completely shut down and go into SEAL mode, but not fast enough to hide the hurt on his face. 'very well. as you wish, i would leave now but it's my house' he grits out. danny turns to leave but takes one last look at steve, standing there like a beautiful, cold statue, and can't stand the thought that he did that, he will force himself to listen because he has to be a good friend to steve.
danny gingerly approaches steve and takes his hand, which makes the ice sculpture thaw a little. 'i'm sorry, i was being selfish, whatever you want to say to me i will hear it, as a friend should'.
'friend...you keep using that word...dearest danno...' steve surprises danny by bringing the hand he was holding to his lips. 'if that's all we are ever going to be, i'll be happy with it, i swear, just...you know i'm bad with words and feelings and you put up with so much of my crap and you stay and have my back the way no one else ever had, and you make me feel too much to be able to put into words...tell me one thing, just one thing...do i have a chance? say something' .
danny is too shocked to speak but he's not about to let steve feel rejected again so he just drags him into the most passionate of kisses he can muster, pleased when steve responds enthusiastically.
somewhere in his happiness- and relief- and lust-addled brain a thought lingers and he pulls away 'oh, shit, lori's gonna be devastated'. then he quickly makes steve forget his confusion because poor girl didn't need more embarrassment and danny was feeling generous.
ps. danny can't say he's sorry when lori gets transferred (he is not that generous), and nothing is going to stop him from being disgustingly happy and in love both at the office and in life. maybe that dusty old english book rachel made grace read recently wasn't as ridiculous and far-fetched as he thought. 'if I loved you less I might be able to talk about it more'

I have not watched the season 6 premiere nor will I do so anytime soon. I have however seen a clip from the episode. Of buddie and Chris in the kitchen. Where buck is cooking dinner (?) and all I can say is how the hell can you have a scene like that and not tell me that is a married couple with their son? (Also they are giving me serious mcdanno vibes and I’m screaming)

McDanno ficlet (or whatever 600 words are)  Prompt: Sharing a dessert
After securing his home as best as he could, packing up some of Eddie’s toys and food,  and doing any last minute sweeps from areas that are supposed to be evacuated, Steve  heads over to Danny’s place. The rain catches up with them and it’s coming down so hard that if Danny’s place wasn’t firmly imprinted into his mind’s eye, he’d have a hell of a time guiding Eddie to the door.
Charlie offers him a towel before wrapping another one around Eddie and hugging some warmth into him.
After patting himself dry, he smile brightly as he sees his Danno greet him with some of his authentic Italian hot chocolate.
“Is there something to pair with it?”
“Cannolis. Take a big sip to warm you up, but then go change before you catch pneumonia, babe.”
Steve did as ordered, though he stole a kiss before heading off to their room in Danny’s house. He had updates on the permits to expand his house to make Charlie his own room so they could all properly call the McGarrett house their home. Until then though, Danny had to keep his own house by court order so Charlie had a proper and safe place to live when Danny had days with him.
Their room here echoed their room at the McGarrett home, though admittingly the style was led more by Danny’s taste. Still, it took him no time at all to find one of his shirts, sweats, and underwear. The rain really properly through all of his clothes.
Making a beeline to the kitchen, he eagerly grabs one of the cannolis and moans in delight at the taste. “Why don’t you make these more often?”
“They wouldn’t be as special. Plus any time I bake it’s in huge batches. Other than Charlie who’s seven and loves all sugar…who’d I be making them for?” Danny said with a shrug.
Though phrased like a question, Steve knew Danny didn’t want an answer to it. To shush him, he even slid the plate of cannolis over to him. He took another delicious bite and enjoyed it with more of the hot chocolate.
These were Italian recipes Steve knew meant a lot to Danny. Passed down generations. With how little the Italian influence is around Hawaii, Steve gets there’s a sense of home sickness that Danny feels whenever he occasionally delves deep into the food he makes.
For as much as he loves Danny’s cooking it’s also a signal sometimes of when Danny doesn’t feel like he belongs in Hawaii.
“Me. I’d eat it all if you’d let me.”
They share a look. One of their many psychic conversations that always said more than any amount of words they could utter.
Still, Danny scoffed and tried to break the tension, knowing Steve’s sensed some of his homesickness, “As if I’m not vigilant about your cholesterol.”
“You are,” Because they love each other, and care for one another in every way. “But I’m still serious. Any time you bake anything from your nonna’s recipe book…I’ll happily eat anything and everything you make.”
Danny gives him a small smile. “I know. It’s why I make stuff when I know you’ll be there to enjoy it.”
“Too bad Eddie can’t have some.”
“He can’t have the chocolate chipped ones. We made a batch for him too.”
“Really?” Steve asked with a smile.
“You think I’d let my boy come over and not enjoy part of the meal? Sadly, he’s stuck drinking just water. But it’s filtered. And we made him some dog friendly cannolis.”
Steve really loved this man.

For the meme - 5. Mcdanno - Much Ado About Something 👀👀👀
(but I'm also super intrigued by the shortest ever description 'why' if I'm allowed two (:))
definitely allowed two! okay so.
Much Ado About Something
this one is only just started and is the fault of @itwoodbeprefect (said lovingly) because what happened was i rambled the premise at her in dms and she went 'PLEASE write that' and then never let me forget about it so. now i'm writing it. said premise (slightly refined) is that Grace is studying specifically Beatrice and Benedick's plotline in Much Ado About Nothing for school, and through the extremely detailed and clever plan of. asking them, she ropes Steve and Danny into helping her by reading it out with her (with Steve as Benedick and Danny as Beatrice). this leads to. realisations.
A double-decker sandwich turned to greet them in the kitchen. Charlie was sitting on Steve’s shoulders holding a cheese slice in one hand and a cherry tomato in the other, while Steve was holding a loaf of bread and had a lettuce leaf dangling half out of his mouth like a depressed brontosaurus.
“Hi, Gracie!” they chorused in unison, the lettuce somehow not budging, and Danny thought about Christmas cards and family albums and blackmail material. Except that one of the things Danny loved most about Steve was that he would never deign to be embarrassed by anything that made a kid happy. Especially if it was Charlie or Grace.
As it happened, that thought also should have tipped him off to future events.
why.
this is also. kind of squares' (iwbp) fault. we were talking about steve/danny/cath and. hm. well. there was some sequence of dominoes in my head and now i'm writing a cath/steve/danny pwp (in that order bc the cath/danny part is mostly tangential. it's really '*meme voice* wow steve how come your mum lets you have TWO doms?' the fic.). Steve gets Cath to answer his phone while he's going down on her in case it's work and. things go downhill from there. or uphill, if you're Danny's dick.
(snippet is below readmore for nsfw)
send me a wip name and i’ll tell you things about it/present a snippet! show and tell!
She reaches down and pushes Steve’s face away to slide two fingers into herself, pressing hard against her inner walls. Steve moves up slightly, mouthes at her clit, and it’s enough to send her into her second orgasm of the night, arching into Steve’s mouth and her own hand, tensing with her head pushed back into the pillow as Steve keeps patiently working her through it.
She’d originally had plans to push to three tonight before Steve fucked her, but when she comes down from this one, she’s honestly more intrigued by the whole spectacle going on here.
Danny’s still talking. She’s missed what he’s said for the last few minutes, but when she buries a hand in Steve’s hair he bucks into the touch the way he only does when he’s close, and when she uses that hand to pull him off - partially because she’s going to be oversensitised for a minute here, partially because she wants to see his face - the first noise he makes is something halfway between a moan and Danny’s name.
“Hey, Steve,” Danny, frankly, murmurs like they’re waking up on a honeymoon, then checks, “Cath?”
Cath’s not sure whether he’s checking she’s okay with her boyfriend having what has very much become phone sex with someone else or just that she’s okay with Steve using his mouth for other purposes, but either way, “Yep, right here.”
