Eddie and Buck get caught up in a PR campaign meant to drive up applications to the LAFD. Their picture goes viral, and speculation about their relationship comes with it. Buck laps it up, but Eddie's not so sure. It also causes Eddie a bit of a personal crisis, but hey, that's okay! He's been to therapy!

It’s funny how some shippers think the lack of detail given to Marisol and Natalia mean that they’re not endgame and Buddie will still be canon. When to me it’s the opposite. That WAS the end, the presumed end, and it was so important to the show that Eddie and Buck end up with women that the women themselves didn’t matter at all. They gave more attention to one-off victim characters than they did to the woman halves of Eddie & Buck’s supposed happy endings. The message isn’t “this won’t last.” The message is “the femaleness of this character is all that matters because straight. Straight straight hetero straight. 🙃” I genuinely think Buddie would have more of a chance if they had bothered to tell us why Buck likes Natalia so much, or why Eddie thinks there’s a spark with Marisol. Given us anything about the characters themselves. But they gave us female blank slates because they wanted to message that the female part is the most important thing. So it’s just wild to me to see people interpreting it as a positive sign. Which I guess maybe I’m just a pessimist, but it looks a lot like denial to me.

I've also seen a LOT of comments about how "well they had to wrap everything up nicely because they thought it was the end of the show so I get it, they didn't want to rush if it was Buddie" and like....*Chidi voice* You DO get how that's worse right? Because a) they could have absolutely had an open ending with Buck picking out his own couch and Eddie being content with his life right now and how full it is with family and friends and Chris, b) they COULD have done ambiguous Buddie with the Buckley-Diaz boys on the couch together playing video games which could be seen as platonic OR romantic so everyone is happy because it's a fan favorite dynamic AND they have been shown as a family for years so they don't need the build up, or c) they could have gone full on Buddie and yeah it would suck to not get more but again, the build up is already kinda there AND it would break the internet if people knew THAT was the finale and the buzz might have gotten them picked up if ABC hadn't already made the announcement.

They literally chose the worst, most lazy option that even outside of Buddie very specifically goes against things the show outright stated in the text that both Buck and Eddie needed to do this season wrt their dating lives. Which....to ME is a bit of a headscratcher because it says they KNEW the backlash that would happen about these relationships (we had the hint about Marisol coming back but Natalia? If that live with Aisha hadn't happened we would have been fucking BLINDSIDED they kept it so under wraps). So rather than commit to telling the arcs well and just ignoring the backlash from "a small part of the viewership", they waited until the last second to drop these half-formed love interests into relationships with Buck and Eddie at a time they thought the show was done and they wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. So which is it? Is the Buddie fandom so small it's inconsequential and we should all just be quiet and realize the show doesn't need us and therefore will never give us what we want no matter how much noise we make? Or is the backlash from social media actually something that's taken into consideration and the show had to make sure to get to the end of the season without alienating that part of the fanbase? They can't have it both ways. Either we're not important enough to be taken seriously in which case it's just shitty storytelling, or we're loud enough to cause serious problems so they have to do jussssst enough to keep the backlash down until they don't have to anymore because the show is over. Which sounds a lot like "shipbait" to me.

I'm leaving of with this quote of yours because fuck me, I've yet to see anything more true about this situation.

The Buckley-Diaz Family: Christopher telling his dads like it is!

Christopher Diaz has no problem telling his dads like it is which simply means he tells them the truth even when they may not want to hear it.  His father, Eddie and his legal guardian, Buck are very accustomed to his sense of humor and his ability to tell them the truth but sometimes the things he says shocks them.  Now that Christopher is a pre-teen, his comedic timing is more impeccable than ever and neither of his dads are exempt from the truths he shares.  Previously it was Christopher and Buck who teamed up against Eddie but recently, for the first time Christopher and Eddie teamed up against Buck.  Christopher’s comment about Buck not having a couch shook Buck so much that he was taken aback. They are a family (related post: “This is a family”).  Listed below are fourteen times Christopher was caught telling both of his dads like it is.

GIF #1 2x10 “Merry X-Mas” Eddie asked Christopher what he asked Santa to get him for Christmas and Christopher responded, “Can’t tell, Santa said he’d work on it”.  Eddie and Buck were a little surprised at his answer but they both understood that he wasn’t going to tell them.

GIF #2 3x2 “Sink or Swim” Christopher was preparing to play a booth game that allowed the player to win a prize and when Buck said, “This one’s for all the marbles”, Christopher responded, “Buck?” and Buck said, “Yeah buddy?”; Christopher quickly said, “I don’t want the marbles, I want the bear!” Buck laughed and then explained that his comment about marbles was just a figure of speech.

GIF #3 3x2 “Sink or Swim” Buck was still feeling depressed about not being a firefighter after he saw the 136 saving a victim on the pier.  He asked Christopher what he wanted to be when he grew up and Christopher told him he wanted to be an astronaut or a pirate then said, “No, wait…a firefighter”.  Buck explained how he hopes that Christopher is able to find something that he really loves and that matters for a career because it would give him the best feeling in the world.  Christopher touched Buck’s chin and said, “You’re going to be ok kid!” (Related post: “Legal Guardianship Timeline”).

GIF #4 3x2 “Sink or Swim” After Buck saved Christopher and himself from the Tsunami and they took refuge on top of the 136’s ladder truck, Buck asked Christopher, “You good Chris?” and Christopher responded, “Yep. I took surfing lessons!” then Buck said, “Well, maybe you could teach me”.

GIF #5 3x10 “Christmas Spirit” Christopher asked Buck if he could spend Christmas with him but Buck had to tell him no because he would be working that day with Eddie. Christopher replied, “Stupid work!” but his response shocked both Eddie and Buck.

GIF #6 3x12 “Fools” Eddie assumed some of the kids in Christopher’s class had pressured him into getting on a skateboard but Christopher told him that he wanted to ride it. Eddie then asked him why he would do it and Christopher explained, “You always said I could do anything. You lied!”

GIF #7 3x12 “Fools” Eddie had a conversation with Christopher regarding some of the things he may not be able to do like other kids in his class.  When Christopher said, “But you can skateboard” Eddie responded, “Uh, but you know what I can’t do?” but then Christopher said, “Cook?” Eddie told him that wasn’t very nice but he agreed and said, “That’s probably true”.

GIF #8 4x3 “Future Tense” Eddie unplugged the video game Buck and Christopher were playing and told them they were taking a break from the internet.  After a brief family discussion, Christopher asked Buck if they could go to his house to play video games but Buck had to say no after Eddie looked at him and they had a silent conversation.  Buck said, “Uh, sorry kid, it looks like we’re going to be playing it old school for a while” and when Eddie walked away, Christopher asked, “What’s old school?”

GIF #9 4x3 “Future Tense” Buck and Christopher pranked Eddie by ordering him a Hildy coffee maker.  When it arrived, Eddie was so paranoid about being spied on that he thought Hildy had automatically ordered it for him.  Christopher called Buck and told him “We got him!” and when Eddie realized he’d been pranked, he walked over and took the phone from Christopher and said, “Thanks Buck, real funny” and hung up.

GIF #10 4x14 “Survivors” Buck and Christopher were having breakfast but after Carla arrived, she asked why Christopher was still in his pajamas.  Buck said, “Sorry, uh it’s my fault. I slept through the alarm”. Carla told Buck she was glad he was able to get some sleep but Christopher spoke up and said, “Buck snores, loud!”  Buck was shocked and a little embarrassed but he recovered quickly and said, “I think it’s time someone got ready for school” and Christopher said, “I’ll go but I’m going to need a nap later!”

GIF #11 5x6 “Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1” After Christopher’s, Buck’s and Eddie’s lives had been threatened by Mitchell the escaped convict twice during The Hostage Situation, Eddie went home and laid next to Christopher. Christopher asked him if everything was ok, Eddie responded, “I’m really glad you’re my kid”. Christopher looked at him and said, “You’re weird dad!” and they both laughed.

GIF #12 5x11 “Outside Looking In” Eddie cooked dinner but after Buck complimented him on how good everything tasted, he said, “All this time everybody thought I was a bad cook!”  Christopher responded, “You were!” which made Buck and Christopher laugh.  

GIF #13 5x14 “Dumb Luck” Buck took Eddie and Christopher to Equine Therapy and after the employee ended the tour, she explained the things Christopher would need to do before he would be able to ride a horse. Christopher said, “That sounds like work!” but Buck nor Eddie were shocked at his comment.  

GIF #14 6x1 “Let the Games Begin” Buck was talking to Eddie about the way Bobby hadn’t considered either one of them to be interim captain and then said, “I just want to know what these other candidates have that apparently I don’t!” Christopher spoke up and said, “Buck, you don’t even have a couch!” Eddie and Christopher turned around in the chairs and looked towards Buck’s living room at the empty space where his couch once sat.  Then they both laughed, bumped fists and said, “Boom!” This was the first time Eddie and Christopher teamed up against Buck.

Snow On the Beach: • I relate to this on the aspect that I might’ve had this, lost it and might never feel like this again • this song are the rush of emotions I chase after when my favorite teams win in a nail biter or when I’m crying up at my ceiling at 2 am • I’ve convinced myself she also made a school house rock reference

You’re On Your Own, Kid: • surprising empowering for me to listen to • I might not be able to depend on anyone else but I always have me and that’s not always a bad thing, I’ll grow from the experiences • “you can face this”

Midnight Rain: • the intro got me thinking my internet was glitched • did anyone else get an Eddie Diaz panic attack deja vu when listening to this? • like you can’t tell me this isn’t what fanfics will be written with • “some kind of haunted” and “midnights like this” because I too think of them when it rains at midnight (not buddie but like my own ex)

“A first-round pick?” Buck storms into Bobby’s office, up to his ears in Twitter notifications. Bobby doesn’t look up. “Buck—” “For Eddie Diaz?” He doesn’t exactly shriek, but it’s a near thing. Bobby meets his gaze evenly. “He’s a great running back.” Buck scoffs. “Bobby, if you hate me, you could have just kicked me in the balls, man, it would have hurt less than you trading a first-round pick for the Cowboys’ darling.” “You’re being dramatic,” Bobby deadpans, and Buck gapes at him. “I asked you for—” “I know who you asked me for,” Bobby interrupts, holding up a hand as he does. “I took the suggestion into consideration.” “It wasn’t a suggestion—” “No, it was,” Bobby raises an eyebrow. “Are you forgetting I’m still technically your boss?” Buck clenches his jaw. He can feel his phone continue to vibrate insistently in his pocket. “The fans are gonna eat him alive,” he points out, and Bobby raises an eyebrow. “Maybe,” he allows. “I have Twitter notifications that—” “Until,” Bobby speaks over him, like Buck hadn’t interrupted him at all. “He helps us make it to the Super Bowl, and then they’ll forget all about his many years with our rival team.” Buck snorts in disbelief. “You think that pretentious old-timer’s gonna get us to the Super Bowl?” “Eddie Diaz is thirty, Buck, and I think that he’ll help you get us to the Super Bowl,” he corrects. “You’ve gotta trust me on this, kid.” The thing is: Buck does trust him. Bobby knows how to run a football team – they’ve made it to the playoffs every season since he started coaching and Buck started as quarterback. Not making it to the Super Bowl has been a series of unfortunate mishaps and misgivings since then: the result of a single bad call or a ball through the hands, which is make-or-break once you’re in with the big leagues. They trade their standings with the Cowboys – being part of the NFC East with their rival team means that sometimes they pull ahead, and other times the Eagles do, so it’s either Buck and Philly pulling into first place and the Cowboys taking a Wild Card spot, or the other way around. This started recently, mind you – the Cowboys’ all-star QB retired only three years ago, passing the torch to a much younger, much fresher Marvin Chavez, a kid that’s so energetic in interviews Buck has to wonder if he ever runs out of battery. He and Eddie Diaz seem to have hit it off better than whatever had been going on with Diaz and the other guy, and it’s been enough to get them to the playoffs for the past couple of seasons, but they have the same problem they’ve been having over at the Eagles – one mishap, elimination. There’s – truth, in Buck’s objection. Trading a first-round pick for a rival team’s player can be seen as either a sleight or a betrayal, depending on who you’re talking to. It’s already causing an uproar on social media; particularly Twitter, which everyone knows is the nicest, most rational website on the internet when it comes to people’s interactions. But it’s not – the whole truth, not really. The whole truth is a little bit more complicated. The whole truth is that Buck barely looks Eddie Diaz’s way during their games, and Diaz does the same, because it’s best if they avoid each other. The whole truth is that Buck can’t think of anything worse than having to interact with Diaz daily, having to trust him with his plays, having to share the same space he does with the rest of his team. The whole truth is that Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz know each other from before the NFL, when Buck was still a rookie in college and Eddie was on his last year, already sought after by many professional teams. The whole truth is that Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz were friends, once, before the fame, before the money, before the glory. The whole truth is that Evan Buckley kissed Eddie Diaz in the middle of a shouting match a long time ago, fueled by petty jealousies and unspoken truths, and they kissed often after that. The whole truth is that Buck and Eddie loved each other, once, long ago, in secret, and it ended – badly. Badly enough that they’ve never spoken to each other again. Badly enough that they avoid contact at all possible. Badly enough so that even when they’re asked about each other in interviews, they always find a way to deflect. Badly enough so that Buck can’t imagine Eddie coming to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, as a first-string running back, won’t spell anything other than disaster. Yeah. Bobby should have kicked him in the balls, instead.

He’s never agreeing to take another half-shift immediately after a 24 hours shift again. It’s been suspiciously quiet; it’s not uncommon to go through days where he’s man-behind because ninety percent of the calls are med-only, but he’s crawling his way towards hour thirty-one and at this rate his eyes will turn to dust by the time the clock decides to idly tick over to 9:00pm and he gets to leave.

There’s nothing left for him to do. He’s stocked all the med kits, taken inventory of the supplies in the closet, chopped up every single vegetable in the refrigerator and searched the internet high and low for a new shopping list for Bobby, one with everything he could possibly need typed out neatly so Buck didn’t have to try to decipher his untidy scrawl next time they went to the grocery store. He’s gone through instagram, facebook, reddit—every social media site until the images and text bled together and he was stuck in an endless cycle of scrolling.

“Buckley!”

He rolls his head towards the back of the couch when he hears his name shouted from downstairs, frowning, because it sounds like Eddie, but Eddie had left at 9:00am with a pitying look and a clap on Buck’s back, but—

It is Eddie, standing at the foot of the stairs with Chris, and—

“Oh, no way,” he says, happily launching himself off the couch and stumbling in his haste to get down the stairs. Maybe he should take the pole, that would be faster. He grabs Chris up under the arms, squeezing him tight, and doesn’t bother to control the look of complete adoration on his face. “You brought Moo’s. Eddie. This is amazing, I wanted barbecue so bad this morning—”

“I know you did, I was there when you wouldn’t stop talking about it,” Eddie says, grinning. “Come on, Chris threw some blankets in the back of the truck, let’s go eat outside before an alarm gets you.”

“Dad got key lime pie,” Chris whispers in his ear as they head out, and Buck turns towards Eddie and beams.

“Eddie Diaz,” he says, “I’m going to need you to marry me.”

Eddie laughs, loud and sweet. “You’re not getting my slice, Buck.” But he leans over and presses a kiss to Buck’s cheek once they get into the truck bed, so Buck figures it’s a start.

Eddie curses beside him, a sudden, forceful exhale calling Buck’s attention, and he looks over sleepily. “Sup, Eds?”

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Eddie shakes his head. “I forgot Chris had a check-up this morning and I double-booked. The tire place had a last minute opening and I’ve been putting it off long enough, it’s not really safe to drive on them anymore—”

“So take my Jeep,” Buck says, knocking his knee against Eddie’s. “Problem solved.”

“Thanks,” Eddie says. “I’ll call and cancel—”

He frowns. “Eddie,” he says, shaking his head, “you take Chris, I’ll take the truck in. It’ll be, what, two hours tops? I’ll just meet you at your place to switch cars when everything is done. Not like I’ve got much else to do.”

“Right, not like you usually nap after a shift,” Eddie says, raising an eyebrow. “I can’t ask you—”

“You didn’t,” Buck says. “I offered. Come on, Eds, let me do this for you.”

There’s a pause, and Eddie’s hand lands on his thigh, squeezing, and a thrill runs up Buck’s spine. “Thanks, Buck,” he says. “Not sure what I would do without you sometimes.”

“Me neither,” Buck agrees, grinning. “You should probably lock me down and marry me already before all this is snapped up by someone else.”

“I’ll keep it in mind,” Eddie laughs. “How about we start with forgetting the ‘your place’ and ‘my place’ thing and just make it our place? Then it would be easier—”

Buck twists and lets himself fall, grabbing onto Eddie and bringing him down on the couch with him—not something he’s supposed to be doing at work, but his boyfriend just asked him to move in and he figures that surely the explanation will get him a pass this one time. “I don’t need convincing,” he says, kissing Eddie on the nose before ducking his head down and pressing their lips together softly. “If you’re asking, I’m in.”

“What do you mean, you need your credit card?” Eddie asks with a frown. “You’re supposed to be doing your taxes, not shopping.”

“I need to pay to file it,” he says, gesturing at the laptop, and pulls his hands away when Eddie turns the screen towards himself.

“Buck,” he sighs, “you’re single—”

“Hey!”

Eddie gives him an unimpressed look. “You file your taxes as single—idiot—you don’t have any dependants—although maybe I should just try to claim you as one this year, God knows you need someone looking out for you—no investments—”

“You don’t know that,” Buck says, even though Eddie’s right. He could have investments, he just—doesn’t.

“—all you need is a 1040A, and you shouldn’t be paying for that,” Eddie says over him. “Look, just give me your documents and I’ll do it for you, okay?”

Well, insults or not, Buck isn’t going to turn the offer down. “You’re amazing,” he says, and he closes the laptop and tosses it onto the couch next to him. “I should put a ring on you before it’s too late. Let’s drive to Vegas tonight and get married, it can be really classy, we can get Elvis and everything.”

There’s a long silence, and then, “you do that a lot,” Eddie says, looking over at him strangely.

“I do what a lot?”

“Ask me to marry you,” Eddie says. “I know it’s just a joke, but I feel like—” he stops and shakes his head, bringing his hand up to rub the back of his neck.

“Feel like?” Buck prompts, when it’s obvious that Eddie’s not going to continue on his own, and adds “don’t say it doesn’t matter,” when Eddie opens his mouth again, because he knows exactly how this conversation usually goes. “Come on, Eds. You feel like what? Pressured?”

“No,” Eddie says, quietly but firmly, looking down, “no, I feel like—I wish you would mean it.”

Buck’s always figured that when people say something caught them by surprise and they stopped breathing that they were exaggerating, but it’s only the way his throat starts to burn after a few seconds that reminds him to pull a breath in. “I do mean it,” he says, reaching over and taking Eddie’s hand, tugging until Eddie’s eyes meet his. “I meant it every time.”

Eddie smiles and shakes his head. “We weren’t even together when you started,” he says. “You asked me to marry you after our third shift together, after I let you borrow my shirt.”

“I still meant it,” Buck says. “If you had said yes—Eddie, I would have printed off the papers for a license and filed it before you even had time to regret it, I swear.”

“Funny that you think I’d regret it,” Eddie says, squeezing his hand. “But, uh, if you’re asking, then—”

“No,” Buck blurts out, and Eddie’s eyebrows shoot up. “No, not that—yes. I’m—I will ask. Soon. But you deserve better than this, just sitting here talking about taxes, God, Eddie, no.”

“This,” Eddie says, waving a hand around, gesturing between them, “is us, Buck. I don’t need anything more than that.”

He squeezes Eddie’s hand—too tight, probably, but God, he loves him. “Maybe not,” he says, “but I want to do the whole speech and everything for you, so just let me. Saturday, okay? 8pm. I’ll ask you then.”

Eddie looks at him for a moment, lips pressed together, tongue pushing his cheek out like he does when he’s trying not to laugh. “Alright,” he says. “And I’ll say yes at 8:01pm.”

So.. Here’s the thing.. I’ve decided that I’m going to be taking 3 kinds of requests. Those are as follows: Headcanons { filthy, fluffy or themed specifically at your choosing }, fluffy alphabet and filthy alphabet letters. These are the only kinds of request I answer so don’t send me prompts / one shot requests or ideas unless I specifically say otherwise.

Bearing the above in mind, I have some guidelines.

I’m only accepting headcanons (nsfw / fluff / specific theme &/or reader), fluffy or filthy alphabet letters. If you send me one shot ideas or prompts, I’m going to delete them because I don’t do one-shots.

One character per ask. I don’t care how many asks you send. But I ask that you only send one character per ask because that makes things a lot more simple for me.

You can send up to 4 letters in each ask if you’re asking for either version of the alphabet. Be sure to let me know whether you want filth or fluff or a mix of both. IE, you could send me something like this; character name - a, b {filth} & j v {fluff}. I’m not saying your ask has to look exactly like this but it does need to clearly state which version you’re asking for. The format I just did above was just the easiest way that came to mind for me.

The more precise you are with the headcanon requests you send, the better I can tailor them to you. If you just want an overall NSFW headcanon or overall fluff, that’s totally fine. But if you want a specific scenario ( friends to lovers, date night, weddings, the sky is the limit here) you need to tell me that. The same goes for if you want a specific reader (POC, plus size, sick, shy, virgin, imprint, etc) then I need to know that. It’s like I said.. The more specifics you give me, that’s more I have to work from.

As far as headcanons go, the things I won’t write are rape, incest / huge age gaps between reader / character. I’ll only write abuse if someone is getting their just desserts at the hands of character on readers behalf. Any asks containing rape / incest / huge age gaps are going to be deleted.

All asks must come to my inbox. I don’t take requests through DM or in comments on a post. If it helps, my anon is on, so you can request to your hearts content.

If the ask box is closed, this means I’m currently not taking headcanon or fluff/filth alphabet requests. This will also be noted on my blog bio and possibly a post stating why/for how long. Anything sent in after the ask box is closed will either be gotten to the next go around or it’ll be deleted, depending on the situation.

First of all... My content is meant strictly for adults. I do write some things that people underage can safely  read, but that is not always the case. I realize that I can’t stop minors from reading my work, but I can tell you outright that I’d rather you skip over it if you’re underage and it clearly states that it’s not written for anyone underage. Again.. I can’t do anything to stop minors from reading my NSFW content beyond just choosing never to post writing on the internet. And I don’t plan on stopping, so.. yeah.

I’m gonna be honest here. I post on my own time, at my own pace. Some days I post constantly, sometimes it’s days or even weeks, and occasionally, a month before I post anything. So.. Now ya know.

If I’m not on and posting, odds are I’m busy, taking a break or whatever. But I’ll come back! I always do. 

Basically, what I’m saying here is I have no set posting schedule. At all. I post what I want when I’m in the mood to do so. Just something to keep in mind when you’re asking for headcanons / nsfw alphabet letters with characters.

(1/2) Buck really is the best 😍 this has been my main takeaway from 911. Kinda frustrated that his team seems to think he’s stupid (Maddie wrote the essay for you; you can’t do math) and that he doesn’t really get to do any of the EMT side of the job since Eddie came along. I hope Buck Begins establishes that he actually is smart (like an old teacher/professor can come by and be like “my best student!” and the firefam can be like 😦)

(2/2) Also hope at some point the lawsuit stops being about “forgiving” Buck & starts to be something the firefam accepts responsibility for. Like Bobby treated buck unfairly compared to the others. Buck fought so hard to get back & nothing about his health changed when he was allowed back on active duty so we know it was BS. Eddie blamed Buck for his anger & stopped Chris from seeing him. Chim & hen were forgiving but still Buck didn’t get a welcome back party like Hen insisted on for Chimney.

the thing that hurts me the most is the firefam mocking buck whenever he doesn’t understand a pop culture reference or gives off the ‘dumb blond’ vibe. i really don’t think he’s an idiot, he’s the one who always thinks outside the box and comes up with foolproof solutions to  certain problems. his eagerness to please or simple frustration sometimes make him do or say something before he thinks, but that in no way means he’s stupid. he reads a lot when he’s on his own, even autobiographies, or goes through borderline obsessive internet researches to familiarize himself with whatever is currently going on around him. he has great memory and he wants to know more! i think him not knowing popular references has a lot to do with his upbringing, which i hope we’ll learn about more. there’s no way he wouldn’t know who rambo was if he was growing up like a normal kid. i hope the writers don’t make buck 1.0 his actual personality in ‘buck begins’, bc it felt more like a coping mechanism for whatever fucked him up as a kid/teenager, rather than who he really was, which is what we’re seeing now. buckaroo is SMART and he deserves to show it!

as for the lawsuit, i feel that too. after rewatching it a couple of times, i now firmly stand on buck’s side, even though the rest of the team didn’t really deserve to be brought into it and dragged as they were, so i understood their anger. i understood bobby’s overprotectiveness too, but i think he grossly underestimated buck’s ‘newfound’ maturity and devotion to the job. it was so frustrating watching him keep buck at arm’s length and denying him work over and over to the point it just became mean and vindictive. eddie on the other hand, yeah i think a good part of his anger stemmed from the lawsuit. buck wasn’t there when eddie needed him and he lost some of that impulse control. eddie went through a lot of pain and grief in a short period of time, so i understood his anger and frustration and why he couldn’t see that buck was struggling too. but he thought bottling up feelings was the best way to deal with problems, meaning he didn’t exactly realize that buck lived through five months without the job and his family on an almost daily basis. we don’t know if eddie was there for him all the time, or enough to make a difference. we know buck has abandonment issues, and then all of a sudden he learned that his family was seemingly moving on without him, replacing him with another firefighter who became eddie’s new friend. that must have hurt. what really messed me up is that at that point buck thought so little of himself that he didn’t even realize eddie and chris might miss him once he filed the lawsuit. he was so broken up about being left out that he convinced himself he’s not a part of the diaz family anymore. i think that’s what hurt eddie the most and why he was so upset at buck, but instead of working it out with buck he just yelled at him. i was also super bummed that buck then threw himself under the bus and stomped his own feelings and problems because he felt he owed eddie an apology for not being there. like he actually believed eddie should’ve punched him for it. i mean ???? excuse me but buck had every right to stand up and fight for himself. maybe it wasn’t the best course of action, maybe he should’ve been more patient, but that boy became desperate. he deserved to be heard and he deserved to be treated equally, if he was then none of it would’ve happened

11. How many hours did you spend researching a type of shoe the other day, only to realise no one cares except you and maybe one other person?

Far too often, omg. I can’t stand potholes at all, and I can’t really stand not researching and using correct terms. For example, when @ao3theskyisblue and I wrote the drunk in love series, we researched EVERYTHING under the sun. The hot air balloon, date ideas, flowers, belted kingfishers, everything. I remember spending 2 hours agonizing over foil balloons and driving Sky insane.

When I wrote a christmas miracle, I spent so long researching all of the marriage laws of California, even though maybe only two sentences were going to be dedicated to it. 

And then I get distracted by these little details. I’m still working on being able to roughly write a bare bones structure and then reach to a point where I can embellish it with details instead of forcing myself to do it all at once. Patience is a virtue I’m losing rapidly, it seems xD Artistic/creative liberty is a thing!

16. Favourite thing to fixate upon that is not your fic that you opened to work on?

I have so many tabs with my WIPs open right now, but I keep refreshing the Buddie AO3 tag for more things to read, constantly. It’s truly a problem because I’m obsessed with the amount of amazing writers we have and Eddie Diaz Week? Sign me tf up.

And this kinda connects to the question above too, since I fall down rabbit holes of research (much like Buck!) and suddenly my momentum is non-existent. I totally am trying to get new work churned out, writing bare minimum 2000 words a day (which is super low for me and most of the time, I’m splitting that 2000 among 3 works, so I’m not having a great time). 

I swear I’m trying through.

i agree that eddie diaz needs a revamp. he's simply the most boring character of them all by now, his issues just staying exactly as they are even after he's being confronted by them again and again and *again* over years. not just years for eddie diaz, but for *us*, the fans of 911! he has had one (1) and the same story arc for almost 4 seasons now, which is, dare is say, overdone and tropey and boring anyway. boo hoo, he lost his ex-wife. they were broken up for years before that and weren't even truly together at that point, gimme a break. yes it was traumatic but his story is much too long-winded for a show like 911, making it not seem like a prelude to real character development but more like a monotone background noise that you learn to ignore when you give it enough time. there is no suspense curve, all of that should have been resolved in s3 at the latest to introduce some new topic or issue for him and make him move forward properly. but eddie hasn't developed on-screen unless you count flashbacks from before the canon timeline, or developed any self-awareness during the canon timeline? there were no consequences for the things he *did* fuck up. ig that is why post-ana eddie is virtually no different from just-lost-shannon eddie. he's still in the exact same situation, with the exact same problems, and the exact same dumb approach to deal with it (which is not dealing with it at all). idk. maybe i've finally grown too tired of male characters whose only big problem is that they can't deal with any sort of emotion. overall the execution just sucks because even if it's tropey, other shows at least had decent pacing to make up for it. to me, eddie is just there to be pretty and a dilf to the young female fans at this point, and i'm kinda sad to reach this point because his introduction in s2 was solid imo.

agreed!!! the show took a different direction in season 2 and i really enjoyed him in the beginning. he was smart and very proactive in his field, the perfect foil to buck who was in his feelings, and the best cutest dad. (i hate that i'm always so shocked and impressed when men are attentive dads but i am).

once i personally quit shipping that ship and ryan guzman getting on the internet unprovoked telling us he and his non-black wife/partner use the n-word AND did this in the middle of the 2nd wave civil rights moment, i sort of lost interest in him. the character adds NOTHING interesting to the show or any sort of interesting dynamic to the 118. they've also turned him into bit of an asshole. so an unlikable character played by an unlikable mediocre actor? hard pass for me.
