I thought wed established that Doctor Who isn’t a sci-fi show. The critics about character dévelopement are valid I will give that, but I don’t agree when we start speaking about hard logic and the genre rules of sci-fi series.

Doctor Who is not Star Trek, it’s an adventure sitcom set in outer space.

I mean we all have different approaches and expectations when watching a show. But I promise, watching Doctor Who like it’s not a silly fun timey Wimey series will always lead to disappointment and plot holes.

Getting REAL sick and tired of how omori TikTok views sunny.

Like, they view any scene of him being emotionally vulnerable, affectionate, or even just making an expression outside of just being completely neutral as “mischaracterised”. He’s not some cool, stoic, unwavering badass, he is a traumatised teenager. Don’t cry whenever he dares to give his friend a hug or (god forbid) be SAD about something??? Isn’t like. Part of the point of his development about him allowing himself to break down the repressive walls he built when he shut himself in? And being able to rely on his real friends instead of imaginary versions? And isn’t the game like. Meant to SHOW that he still cares about them despite isolating himself?

It’s really stupid to get mad at a character like that showing emotion or affection personally, especially since he’s not used to expressing it properly after so long. But that’s just me

Canon Merlin is so villain coded.

Hear me out. It’s actually something that bothers me a lot with the canon show how there were a lot of inconsistencies with what they wanted the audience to believe versus what they were actually showing.

For example, the show heavily relied on the “prophecy” to tell the audience that Arthur was worthy and the bestest boy to ever live and that Merlin was the savior of his people.

But the content of the show didn’t show Merlin doing the Hero thing: sacrificing the ones he loves and the desires of those closest to him for the greater good or the many. Instead, the show was filled with the opposite: Merlin prioritizing the wellbeing and happiness of his close circle (specifically Arthur) even at the expense of the needs, survival, or benefit to the people who are dealing with consistent genocide and have put their faith in him.

But the show tried to override this by making the prophecy say “by keeping Arthur alive and happy and well, you are helping your people” and I just needed this show to COMMIT

Either make Merlin a villain without some prophecy writers cop out, or make him a revolutionary and committed traitor for the good of his people, even if it means turning against those he’s come to care for. Pick one and COMMIT

Incomplete Rulers was a duet that HAD to be sung by Riku and Tenn together as a culmination of the relationship between the performers and the audience, which is to say that a performance is only made possible when there is a giver (Tenn) and a taker (Riku). Furthermore, them singing together on stage as mirrors, the taker (audience stand in) coming up to save the giver (the performer), and the two singers being fraternal twins is an illustration of how the roles of giver/taker are interchangeable even if the performer/audience roles stay the same AND that, in the end, the performer and the audience are not so different after all yet STILL are different. So here is how i will dissect the symbolism of twins, fraternal ones especially, and the roles of performer/audience in this essay - *gets dragged offstage*

I think something that's SO INSANE and honestly explains why I love Dimension20 so much and how it's so different than any other show I've ever seen is that...

Dimension20 manages to CAPTURE GENUINE JOY ON CAMERA!!! It's NOT fake! It's NOT scripted! It's not a joy that has been rehearsed and re-shot multiple times!! It is ACTUAL, TRUE, GENUINE JOY!!!

Something that normal TV shows just CAN'T provide for me??? I'm not saying scripted shows are BAD! That's not at ALL what I'm saying! A majority of them are really good!

But watching Dimension20 and seeing GENUINE expression on the faces of these people! And knowing that everyone there is having a GREAT time and just ENJOYING themselves doing what they're doing! It's- It's a feeling that I can't really wrap my mind/head around and explain to people???

I feel thee MOST happy when I get to watch TRUE moments of happiness and joy that happen with the people that decide to sit at this big table, under this big dome, and have just- the time of their Life!

And even though most of D20 is pre-recorded, I'll feel like I'm at the table with them because I'm expressing genuine feelings along with everyone else! 😆😆
